Tfp x Pacific Rim.

They've been on earth a while, then suddenly a giant kaiju pops up and they learn humans have giant robots as big as Plexs (the bots that turn into cities) The biggest bots in the series are only around 30-40ft, jaegers usually reach past 300ft. A jaeger could stomp Optimus and Megatron into the ground and never notice it. And they're only piloted by two humans, mentally in sync and battle hardened, willing to kill anything that threatens their planet. The horrifying realization that humans could wipe them out if they really wanted to.

Or maybe it could be post TFP, and they all decide to come back to earth to visit/see the kids, and are immediately held at jaeger gunpoint, or witness a kaiju flatten a city.

This immediately came to mind.

I don't know what would be more humiliating for a Cybertronian. Getting your ass kicked by Pacific Rim's Jaeger or Kaiju No 8's Defense Force with their exo suits. I guess how close the human is determines that.

Going off canon here with both factions just arriving on Earth instead of being present for three years or returning. This is because Pacific Rim's PPDC absolutely slam down any attempts for the bots to continue their war. Dealing with Kaiju made by hostile aliens is already a handful so extraterrestrial beings who can't end a millennium long feud turned 'spat' is unacceptable.

Both factions get captured as the Decepticons are first. Radars caught the Nemesis appearing in Earth's atmosphere and two Jaegers immediately intercepted the ship. Buckethead is still pissed about it as EMPs were utilized for incapacitation once their machine like nature been seen.

The Autobots took longer to find since they immediately went into hiding. Raf, Miko and Jack are responsible for their respective bot guardian's capture. A Kaiju attack had occurred with the kids being unable to evacuate to safety.

Bumblebee, Arcee, and Bulkhead risked their cover to protect them from the monster. The kids were watched over by the bots as their families hadn't been located yet. Original plan was to return the Jasper Trio home and disappear once more.

Something that doesn't happen as another Kaiju attack near their base led to the PPDC finding the Autobots. Jack, Miko and Raf were able to plea for them to not hurt the group. Both the Autobots alongside the kids get taken into custody afterwards.

Or how the war came to a humorous yet humiliating end as both factions were forced to make peace with each other.

Polling the kaiju fandoms!

I've noticed that the kaiju fandoms seem to have a really high amount of neurodivergency (like even more than most fandoms), so I wanted to make a poll of it!

I'm aware that making this a Tumblr poll will skew the results, but I literally can't do this anywhere else.

One of the books I bound for Tiny Books Bang held by Renegade Bindery! It's a sextodecimo, meaning the whole book is about 5x7 cm.

Kodiak Island Drifting is A League of Their Own/Pacific Rim fusion, and who could say no to that combo? It was written and typeset by @obstinatecondolement.

This was the first time I tried sewn board binding with breakaway spine, and I loved it! Also first time making a self-ended book, because the blank page count just worked out perfectly.

I was also lucky enough to get my hands on some Soviet era materials that I think go very well with the postapocalyptic/50s vibes of the fandoms involved.

More thoughts on the AU

I almost forgot about the Kaiju that turned Kafka that seemed to become his core now(? I think that's what happened unless I misunderstood or misremembered), so yes to pseudo-core. Maybe the destruction of his core will weaken him significantly instead of outright killing him.

I initially thought that Kafka got in as a Jaeger pilot at the same time as Mina getting into the DF or in one of the subsequent attempts just to give more time and experience to justify the rest of the Jaeger pilots trust in him when they back him up in his secret gets exposed, but it can also be the same scenario where he saves them like with the third division in canon.

The coreless Kaiju have advantage when it comes to toughness and size, but are at a disadvantage when it comes to regeneration and reproduction, kinda like how some bigger real life species reproduce at a slower rate. The cored Kaiju have number and regeneration advantage. (I have no idea why I'm trying to figure out the reason to Kaiju adaptation)

First mind meld, I think Tiny's mind is still in the periphery and a bit wild, both Kafka and his partner would've only caught glimpses like in his canon fight against Isao. Luckily Kafka has experience when it comes to keeping control over his own mind in this situation. Eventually they'll understand Tiny's goals.

Reno has his own jumpsuit/uniform from the Jaeger pilots because he's their honorary member.

Unrelated, but what are your thoughts on Aquatic Skyscraper softie!Kafka. The sea seems like a much better place to hide unless it's actually harder to get to the ocean because of the Ariake base?

Kafka would definitely be weakened for quite awhile if his pseudo core got damaged. How bad it is varies between what form he's in with the cored state might putting him on life support for awhile. Tiny did convert his heart after all.

I would say his next attempt after Mina gets in sounds perfect. Like the two constantly miss each other as their respective missions are drastically different. Plus Jaeger Pilots have their identities kept private for safety reasons.

Kafka still transforms as he rather not risk it. Although Isao is gonna have a much harder time trying his little execution stunt since our himbo isn't in his jurisdiction. Something Reno's aware of so he has more faith that Kafka would be fine.

Now for Skyscraper Softie, he's definitely semi aquatic in nature. The idea of hiding in the ocean just didn't come to anyone. I do imagine Kafka discovers this detail on sheer accident during one of his attempts to escape the Defense Force.

Like he doesn't exactly have the equipment to fully examine this gigantic form for certain details such as hidden gils in his neck. Although I imagine Kafka will find multiple submarines entering his abode if he decides to make a den there than just the mountains. The Defense Force would be persistent as hell.

Also Kafka just being fished out of the water in a gigantic net like mers from fiction.

The Mako Mori test has been proposed as a "better" version of the Bechdel Test (which I'm well aware of the bechdel tests point and common misuse) she has a full, rich arc that is not romance oriented in the first movie. Also she pilots a giant robot. In the second movie she's textbook definition fridged.

Cordelia Chase

Cause of Death: Became comatose due to childbirth, eventually died

Propaganda:

A fiercely witty, complex and independent character - she was Always her own woman, only briefly having romantic relationships and it never defined her character for 6 seasons on both Buffy & Angel. Unfortunately the show producer was an abusive misogynist who targeted Cordelia's character specifically for humiliation when her actress Charisma Carpenter became pregnant. He is a colossal dick, and a terrible writer. Cordelia and Charisma deserved better.
