today in the egregious crimes of matthew stover, first, anakin staring at mace's severed hand still holding his lightsaber as he goes to his knees with horror at what he'd just done, picking the chancellor over the jedi. the detail of the hand not something in the movie and something that haunts me now forever! thanks <3
and second, the way anakin's mind ignores the concept of the jedi in general and grasps numbly at the thought of obi-wan, with the subconscious realization of how deeply he's betrayed his mentor and best friend by killing mace. HE is the traitor, and he knows it deep down, but the crime is irreparable, and he needs some way to live with himself.
"luckily" for his damaged ego and fractured identity, it's safe to say sidious has been preparing him for this moment for literal years. he's primed him to believe that obi-wan had betrayed him first, and now it's finally time for that work to pay off. all it takes sidious on the next page repeating "i trust you. i trust you. i trust you," until anakin finally and completely succumbs to the dark side.
this page just hurts to read, like anakin has been teetering on the precipice for so long, and now, finally, the bonds to the light are cut with the slash of his blade through mace's wrists, and he's actively falling, has already fallen. it's over, and now all that's left of this story is the fallout, the rollercoaster is dropping and the bottom is so very far away :(

gwyn promising she’ll always be with tk and her disappearing when tk looks back because he needed to make this choice for himself and she did what she could to save him versus carlos feeling all of gwyn’s love being sent through him and being there when tk looks back a second time because now he needed that reminder that carlos is there, that he’s standing strong, and he can be an anchor to hold onto despite being terrified himself.

My beloved Grandpa was left-handed and I've been thinking all day about the fact that his own grandmother tied his left hand painfully behind his back when he was a tiny wee boy and forced him to write with his right...
Just a (miserable! angst-ridden!) little something to consider vis a vis the whole 'Goodsir and Little may both have been left-handed IRL' conversation! >:)

God, I just realized:
The Tower falling and the subsequent Flood are supposed to represent the Fall of Atlas AND the Fall of Beacon
Where he failed to save Penny and Pyrrha

you know how you get an idea and you want to share it so badly because it’s definitely super revolutionary and groundbreaking but if you share it then surely someone will complete the product long before you ever could so you keep it hidden and secret until you complete it cuz what if someone steals it but it’s so good and you’re so proud so you obviously want to share but you are so scared of failing before you can even begin that you find yourself unable to share the joy of creation with the people you love :(((((

Laurel was the first and only normie to study in Nevermore, she was part of the program to make the coexistence between the school and the town better.
Originally, she went to the school at the request of her father who wanted someone providing inside information, but she soon forgot all that dad's bullshit. Her life not in high school was far from easy, but she had great friends, like Gomez and Morticia, and this special girl who she really liked and had even agreed to go to the dance with her, Larissa Weems.
However, her father grew increasingly paranoid and cruel and he decided it was time to take the reins and locked Laurel in the house on the day of the dance, leaving Weems alone waiting for her. What happened at the prom everyone knows except Laurel, who knows only the version of events narrated by her father who painted Gomez and everyone at school as the big villains, in grief she believes.
When Weems tries to go after her, she is met with harsh words of hate. Shortly after, she receives the news that Laurel Gates had passed away. Larissa mourned the death of her great teenage love for ten days, and then never again.
Once made director, Weems reconsiders the long-forgotten program that tried to make normies and outcasts live in harmony. However, she tries something different, instead of starting with the students, she tries with the faculty and that's when she meets Marilyn Thornhill.
Weems can't explain it, but from the first moment she is pulled towards the woman.
What started with bashful glances and polite good mornings and good nights evolves into a friendship that doesn't take long to become something more. For the first time since Laurel, Weems has allowed herself to love again.
Needless to say what a pain it was to discover that Laurel and Marilyn were the same person. She was so happy that Laurel was alive, but so destroyed that Marilyn was the big villain of the story. In an act of desperation, Marilyn attacks Weems.
With tears in her eyes, Marilyn whispers to Weems that she is sorry, not for everything, but for them. She doesn't use all the poison, just enough to incapacitate. Weems uses her powers to lessen the effects of the poison and with much difficulty manages to go after Marilyn, she finds the woman pointing a gun at Wednesday.
Weems picks up a sabre forgotten on the floor and gets between the two and Marilyn begs her to leave, Weems doesn't leave and says several things that are capable of destroying someone's soul while begging Marilyn to put the gun down.
She does so, she smiles, and then tries to shoot Wednesday.
Weems impales her, then holds her in his arms and lies, saying it will be okay. For the second time, Weems mourns the death of Laurel Gates, the great love of her life.
Laurel Gates, like her brother, died at the hands of the person she loved most because of her father's hatred.
