This is outside the field of my usual posts but with the recent development of Watcher Entertainment rapidly digging their own grave:
If you want some content with the similar vibe to Buzzfeed Unsolved, whilst being really unique and honestly improving on the format in a lot of ways, I really recommend a podcast I’ve listened to for a while now called “This Paranormal Life”
Two Irish friends/comedians/“professional paranormal investigators” investigate the paranormal each week, alternating in bring each other new cases, and by the end of the episode, try to convince the other that the ghost/alien/cryptid story of the week is real or fake.
It’s been running since 2017, and while that means that not all the content is amazing, and I’d assume some hasn’t aged the best, there are so many absolute banger episodes, and there is a shit ton of backlogged episodes on most podcast platforms including video content on YouTube (episode 363 released less than a week ago from posting this), not even including the years worth of backlogged Patreon content.
Honestly like this is just an excuse for me to share a podcast I really enjoy lmao, but I know a big drive of people following Watcher was searching for the vibe of Buzzfeed Unsolved adjacent content, and I think that this might appeal to people searching for that kind of show!

That Estes method session was insane, I can't believe I'm saying this but I fully believe Shane Madej just beat up a ghost on camera. Ghost Files is peak cinema.

Well if anyone needs a new paranormal investigation show to watch, I offer you a suggestion. @/Detune on both twitch and youtube:
• streams investigations live
• does ~2 investigations a month, each one at least 5 hours long
• gets super solid evidence
• tries to debunk evidence as we go (to ensure quality and credibility)
• is respectful to both the location and the spirits themselves
• investigations have humorous and chaotic moments
• plenty of dashes of fear as well, for spice
• is super cool as a person
• has built a really kind community, you'll be safe in both yt and twitch livestream chats
• you can access the full, unedited investigations on twitch until the vod "expires" and on yt forever (older ones are under @/detuneVOD, new ones get uploaded to @/Detune under "paranormal detour vods" playlist)
• Julien Solomita was the most recent guest, if you're interested in seeing a 3'6" king hang out with ghosts
• will never completely paywall content
They (singular, Detune uses any pronouns) genuinely work so hard and put so much thought and consideration into how they go about these streams. I know it's not the same, but if you're craving ghosty content in the wake of this decision, Detune is definitely worth your time and attention.
Edit: also, another fun thing is that streams after the investigation are spent combing over the evidence together! And they purposely don't let ads run during investigation streams to avoid ruining viewer experience. The thought and consideration is there, through and through.

Fake Batman
Despite the years he had spent in the Realms and how much he had changed, Danny could admit that he missed being a hero, or at least a vigilante of sorts. Being a King was stressful and everyone asked for his opinion, something that had improved over the years but had never completely changed.
So when Clockwork told him that there was a hero named "Batman" in another dimension, he was interested. Mainly because the people there seemed to think Batman was a ghost or connected to the supernatural, when in reality he was just an ordinary person.
Sure, he was also a billionaire but everyone had their flaws and Danny didn't plan to hold that against him. Someday he would meet a normal billionaire with no hidden agendas, he was sure.
Batman had children too, even though he "worked alone" and the halfa was very interested. So much so, that when his mentor asked him if he wanted to spend a vacation in Gotham pretending to be the vigilante he agreed without much trouble.
It seemed that Batman had been badly hurt and people were starting to lose their fear of him, something that was critical in Gotham. So Danny agreed to his mentor's request and imitated the Bat's costume as best he could, adding a more supernatural effect than usual.
It wasn't long before Bruce found out about his double. A double who was doing his job very well and scaring his villains while he remained in bed, he would be grateful if it wasn't so worrisome.

in regards to the "*ca-ca-ca-ca* OH SHIT" moment in the first ep of ghost files s3, i must say that if i found myself in possesion of a allegedly haunted house frequented by jumpy paranormal investigators, i would 100% plant hidden speakers in random spots programmed to play xenomorph noises at opportune times.

i'm genuinely curious how many of us there are out here in the tumblr sphere. if you're a fan of the ghoul boys, but you DIDN'T discover them through buzzfeed unsolved, please tag where you first saw them and what your favourite show of theirs is now.
i'll go first. my first ghoul boy show was ruining history in 2018, and now my favourite show is either puppet history or ghost files.

God I love O Segredo Na Floresta. The disaster trauma family is arguing about which one of them deserves to sacrifice themself, because everyone seems to be determined to be the only one to do it. Every time it looks like one of them will do something about it and lead the discussion somewhere else, maybe come up with a different solution, it ends up with them screaming about how they're the one that deserves to die the most. They've been at this for over 10 minutes. Different party members are being threatened with lethal weapons.

Losing it over the fact that Ryan, on a whim, asked Shane to recite the speech from Hamlet only expecting him to know one or two lines and Shane erupted into a passionate, Oscar worthy dramatic recitation of Shakespearian calibre.

i love watching people genuinely ghost hunt unedited and get wild evidence that i fully believe because i have faith in the people doing the hunt and then watching comparing them to ryan and shane because like. i am a full believer but i just cannot see these guys EVER getting evidence. it’s not even some weird (but hilarious) theory like ghosts are in mutual agreement to not mess with them, i just think that if they ever did get evidence they would be too busy making poop jokes to notice. every time there’s a piece of evidence in either of the shows that i want to unpack i immediately forget about it because we’re already in the next room making fun of the weird design choices that were made. and you know what? i love it so much
