i forget people don't know same thing i do. so if you only know ABA as "suppress stimming force mask force eye contact reward-punishment" (which, historically has been like that and even currently many place like that) (abbreviate below as "abusive ABA" "abusive methods/practices" "bad"), then of course you disagree when i say "ABA can be abusive but some survivors say it help reduce self harm stim and help learn ADLs" because would think i support they teach through abuse. which i very much don't.

(it relevant when i say "i have theory of mind trouble so i forget people don't know same thing i know" because i know people who try reform ABA to be trauma informed (whether it can truly be reformed because of its fundamental history, another topic), who call out abusive pratices. but i forget there are people who don't know these people exist. so whatever i say of course don't make sense to them.)

what i mean?

let look at self-injurious stimming during meltdowns. (stimming neutral but self injurious harm self)

one ABA therapist purposely trigger meltdown to "shape behavior." ❌bad. abusive. why you want purpose cause distress to manipulate behavior?

one ABA therapist think all stim bad, even ones who don't harm self. for example hand flap and pace when really upset need regulate and not disturbing anyone. instead want replace by "quiet hands" and sit still at desk.❌bad. abusive. they obviously not causing harm, they self-regulating. it working for them. this therapist don't actually care about distress, only care about mask emotion and behave "appropriately in normal way."

one ABA therapist respond with ignore because believe "if i acknowledge then i give them attention and will make them want do behavior more will act as reinforcement." ❌bad. abusive. ignore people geuinely distress will not make issue go away. will only maybe teach them "it not okay to feel emotion" so hide so mask. and "if i upset then no one will help no one care."

one ABA therapist think. okay to be upset but hurt self can be dangerous (ok we on right track...). so i am going to prevent them from self injury. but give nothing in replacement. just make them stop. ❌still no! mind may be on right path but still no!! even though self injury harm self, it act as coping skill and help regulate. they do it for reason. cannot just take away coping tool (even if very harm self) and not replace with something less harmful!!! you just leave empty void. not helping!! may cause escalate.

one ABA therapist also think it okay to be upset. it okay to show upset. but hurt self dangerous. then they think more. why is doing this behavior? why self-injurious? why cause? can we remove cause altogether? have we ignored previous protest & try to get out? can we teach communicate so can tell others upset before it get to meldtwon? can we teach them to take break before it get bad? then they think. what is less harmful behavior we can slowly teach to replace, a better coping skill? and they listen to person's body language and behavior to make sure not force. ✅ many ways to go wrong, but if careful and self reflect frequently. can be helpful. need to center the person at all time. need remember behavior often don't happen alone. get rid of behavior don't get rid of problems.

let look at what is typically called "avoid task."

one ABA therapist think. they're doing it because previously they tantrum and have gotten out of task, so they do it again (and think it their fault instead of parent or therapist fault who teach that). they do it to make my life hard. they do it because they brat. so they punish. they take away things they like and maybe even need (like comfort object, food, snack, AAC, etc). maybe even tie them down, restraint in chair, cannot physically leave. ❌no! very abusive!!

one ABA therapist think. oh need reward them for stay on task. give sticker chart.❌still no! still abusive! even though "reward" with "preferred item," still only look at behavior and not why they may not want do task. still teach must behave good to earn happy and love and affection and have needs met. this is still compliance. and then one day person had enough and meltdown, suddenly everyone will say "where did that come from!! came from nowhere!! must be problem child" but ignore every previous way to communicate no.

one ABA therapist think. is this task appropriate? is it because too hard can't understand? is it because more fundamental need not met like hungry? is it because have not moved enough, jump run etc? maybe they just have bad day? if it task that truly don't serve purpose, then no need to even tell them do it in first place. but if task that can't be avoided (because in life can't avoid everything), then are there other ways to respect them want take break while make sure task get done? are there alternative activities that we can give them while they take break until they ready to come back? (a good video about alternative) ✅this is respecting autonomy and respect feeling and emotion of person. this is about help not comply. (another video)

people who practice the good example and bad example all call it ABA. and while the good example we start to see more and more happen, unfortunately so many places still practice bad example (especially if like rural and low income and behind on research update). or they claim to be good but still have not fully unlearned bad example, or they claim to be good but still do bad because they use "neurodiversity affirming" as buzzword. it all very nuanced. but all exist.

ive been facing such a dilemma with my snail base that ive been working on. I've made SO MANY parts for them that in order for them to be optimized I have to make compromises on how they work

These choices arent equal and i think i need to go with option one.. ease of use trumps EVERY other factor.. but i don't want to :(

🐌 Option 1: Have some of the similar parts share bone chains ✅Pros: - Simpler for users / I don't have to worry about the cons of Option 2 ❌Cons: - Worse deformations & physics - Getting the Quest-standalone performance to be agreeable will be annoying / not possible (Max of 90 bones before it hits Medium)

🐌 Option 2: Include everything with proper bone chains, but people have to manually merge armatures and parent the bones to the head bone. ✅Pros: - Looks way better (deformations+physics) - Much more optimized + Easier to wrangle for a "Good" Quest-standalone performance ❌Cons: - MUCH more complicated setup process. Wouldn't be an issue if everyone followed directions perfectly, but unfortunately that isn't the case haha. The setup doesn't require skill but its going to add a LOT more steps, and that creates a significantly higher margin of error for people who don't follow directions properly. Ultimately the more people who can't follow the directions = a higher amount of dissatisfaction with the base + people saying it's hard to work with. 🐌Evil option 3: Get rid of a bunch of parts that are similar (tempting tbh 😢)

Maybe I could make a simple setup and an advanced setup and the advanced option has all those extra parts but works via option 2 actually..

(Yeah I voted for Stucky 🤣 I'd just seen a joke reminder that Captain America said "fuck them parents" for his boyfriend which is, like, dick move but also their main compelling quality to me lol)

...and of course, total reblog numbers showing those tags are coming from a tiny fraction of the voters? ✅

Like this ratio is even more skewed re: votes to tags, though they are much more neck & neck for the result. And the tag "toxicity" is a lot of references to Stucky having fandom clout + some of the more pirate-battle-esque hyperbolic hate but like... that's still predominantly an issue of tumblr culture and syntax? "I'm blowing this whole site up if X loses" and "unfollow me now if you vote Y" and "why do the stronger homosexuals not simply kill and eat the weaker ones" are joking statements that can be used to express a wide range of feelings in the tumblr vocabulary. Object to that hyperbole and eroding manners in how one interacts with strangers if you want, but it's not actually a sign that Stucky and Black Sails fans specifically are too serious or toxic about the silly poll.

Also the faux high-horses on both sides making quips about woobifying slaveholders and being us military propaganda (not to mention who is canon or not) are both laying the clown makeup on thick 🤣🤣🤣

WOE. BRYCE HAS PCBD ESSAY BE UPON YE. Talk of mental health and drugs/alcohol/car crashes/death/self harm! He is going through it.

This is all based on the theory that Stella died in a car crash!

PCBD (Persistent Complex Bereavement Disorder. I'm not typing this out every time it is way too long) is also called Complicated Grief! You will get different google pages if you type both in but they're the same thing, which is why I'm mentioning it. It's where, for at least a year (it's been 10 for Bryce. Yikes.) you're stuck in grief related to the loss of a loved one, and your feelings are disabling in nature. With PCBD you can basically never reach the acceptance phase: you're stuck in one of the other ones, usually denial (the first one). But that's not the case here! For Bryce! Because screw him even more! 

Risk factors include: 

If the death was especially violent and/or unexpected ✅

If you were dependent on the loved one or vice versa ✅

If you have a history of mental health issues❔(This is where most of his mental health issues spawned from? He was likely mostly fine prior. So like... kind of.)

If you were neglected or abused as a child ✅

If you have a lack of a support system ✅

If you have prior resistance to life changes❔(Again: he seems pretty resistant to/scared of change now, not before)

If anything involves children. No seriously this just makes everything 1000x worse. ❌ (He very much had graduated high school! Though you can graduate early/your birthday is just... after you graduate... which could've made him 17! Though I like to believe the accident was at least a little after then, maybe like 6 months, not the day of. It makes it hurt more! The fact that they had plans and were going to finally both be out of their parent's house and move on and then! ...... They didn't. So Bryce was super young, yes, but not a child.) 

Some stuff I want to point out about symptoms (lifted from the DSM-5)!!!

"Persistent yearning/longing for the deceased"

"Preoccupation with the deceased"

"A desire to die in order to be with the deceased"

That last one is especially the most important, I feel!!! Because that's canon. ...Okay, maybe I'm reaching a bit, but when he and Liam die on that smokestack he is brought back to his childhood home (canonically not always a good place to be!) and Stella is there. And multiple times in the montage he tries to go with her! Despite Liam pulling him back every single time! He's dead and the only thing he wants is to be with his sister again!!! That's the one person he cares most about in his life and she's been dead for 10 years!!! He doesn't really have friends, he doesn't seem to keep in touch with any other family he might have, someone alive that he considers a friend later on is right there, but he just wants to be with her! That's fucking canon!!!!!

"Intense sorrow/emotional pain in response to the death"

"Preoccupation with the circumstances of the death"

"Experiencing disbelief/emotional numbness over the loss"

"Maladaptive appraisals about oneself in relation to the deceased, as in self-blame"

("Maladaptive behaviors are actions that prevent people from adapting, adjusting, or participating in different aspects of life" As in daydreaming, masking your emotions to a constant level, self-harm (including drugs and alcohol), angry outbursts, or not attending social situations.)

This, I think, can all be related to the car crash!

And has overlap with a lot of PTSD symptoms, but PTSD and Depression (and Anxiety, but that doesn't apply here too much?) both overlap with PCBD/are comorbid, so that makes sense. The especially violent manner in which she died definitely would stir a lot of these feelings up, especially the self blame. I think deep down, buried beneath a lot of these other feelings he wont let himself express since he hasnt been to therapy for anything and he just drinks a 6 pack a day to deal with it, the self blame for the accident and/or Stella's death in general is the reason he's been stuck on it for 10 years now. In canon he says he hasn't tried again until now, until after this thing happened that reminded him things could be and are worse (and normally I wouldn't advocate for comparing trauma like that, but it worked for him, so...?), and he looks so crushed when he admits he's been stuck in anhedonia and apathy and complacency for so, so long even though he does have the ability to pick himself up a little bit, he can do it, please don't take it away from him again please don't leave again he can't do it over and over and over. So a lot of these feelings regarding the accident and her death are very repressed, which just makes it worse (instead of healing through your grief, with PCBD it just gets worse the longer it goes on without any help), and therefore makes any responses he has to these emotions worse in turn, which circles back around to but what if it was different, if he had done something different, if it had been him instead. 

"Feeling alone/detached from other individuals since the death"

"Feeling that life is meaningless/empty without the deceased"

"Confusion about one's role in life"

"Difficulty/reluctance to pursue interests since the loss"

"Bitterness/anger related to the loss"

"The disturbance causes clinically significant distress/impairment"

"The bereavement is out of proportion/inconsistent with culture or age-appropriate norms" 

I kind of went into this already on accident? but I think this group can dive into the life we see him leading before ONE! The fact that it's so repetitive and miserable, he buries all of his emotions for fear/dislike/inability of working through them, he has maybe 2 people he talks to and it's definitely not regularly, he's alive not for any reason it looks like, just because he's supposed to be. And it's been 10 years since Stella's death, 10 years!!!! That's such a long time to be burdened with those feelings of regret and misery and inability to change and he needs someone to talk to! Not to bring up his alcoholism again but I'm bringing up his alcoholism again because it's definitely a coping mechanism, and he might not even see it as that bad because maybe his mom was into drugs, I don't know? "At least I'm not as bad as her" type thing, y'know? "I can drive because I'm not as impaired as my mom and she didnt get in trouble for it" y'know? Which, by the way. Could also be a form of ideation. He's not trying to die, but if he did? Would it really matter? He wouldn’t feel any different than how he does now. Yeah? Am I making sense? 

There's also "avoidance of reminders of the loss" but that's the only one I don't agree with, really. Since it was a car crash and he still drives and he still has the picture with Stella in it and everything. I think his problem is that he thinks about it too much but likes to pretend he doesn’t. But that's just a personal interpretation thing! Maybe I'm projecting too much and distorting canon! I don't know! 

Anyways! Some stuff not from the DSM-5 that I've found that I think I should bring up! 

Apparently a lot of people report having hallucinations of the deceased! Full auditory and visual hallucinations! So do with that what you will! 

"Some individuals with PCBD report not wanting to move on from bereavement because they feel they would be betraying the deceased." After 10 years this might be part of his mindset. Not consciously, of course, but that's his big sister. He's not supposed to disappoint her, he's not supposed to be like this, his life was supposed to go differently than it did! 

I forgot to mention that earlier, holy shit. Ok so with the accident happening at that transitional period in his life, from high school to becoming an adult, it invokes a feeling of "things should have and were supposed to go differently" that you cant really... stop? In any way? But the whole point of PCBD is that you can't move on, not without a lot of help, and so i feel that feeling of "supposed to" would stick with him and that also influences his life up until this point as well. Because she's supposed to still be here, and they're supposed to be happy, and he can't be happy now that things aren't the same anymore, and yeah betrayal is also a big emotion for him I feel. 

Ok I think that's everything. He really really needs therapy, that's literally the only way to treat PCBD (antidepressants would help for sure! But it wouldnt cure it per se), he needs therapy and a support system for once in his life and he needs to trust people enough to talk to them.

Actually, maybe there is a little bit of denial in there. The first thing we hear Bryce say is "this isn't real. this isn't real." 

Which! To give him credit, that absolutely seems like a nightmare scenario (and it was!), but also when Liam shows up at his door he also acts like that isn't real either. And finding Texty wasn't real, despite all the evidence in front of him. So! Y'know! Denial is still there, unlike what I said before, just maybe not as prevalent as usual.

Sometimes the kid's feelings simply aren't relevant to the situation, and it's better parenting to explain that to them.

I get it, you don't want to go to skool. I don't particularly want to send you to skool. But the law says you have to go, and the alternatives aren't realistic, and we live in the world. The bright side is, your friends will be there. I'd recommend finding some joy in that. Please go brush your teeth now.

I can see why many folks would shy away from this lesson, because it is *super easy* (and not uncommon!) to weaponize ‘sometimes you have to do things you don’t want to’. But…sometimes ya do, and the person making you do it isn’t always bad for making you do it.

The thing is, it's better to convince someone to do something than force them to - and explaining why it's important to do the thing and y'know, treating a child like the actual human being they are by validating their feelings but having a conversation about why it's necessary anyway - will often do that.

In the rare events where explaining doesn't help or even makes it worse, it is often then time to consider if there's a deeper issue at play. I can guarantee 9/10 times it's not entitlement. Is the kid undiagnosed as neurodivergent and having a meltdown because they know an event will be sensory hell? Do they legitimately not understand WHAT they have to do and are focusing on WHY they have to do it as a coping mechanism?

There's a wide gap to how people in general react to "things I don't really want to do but fully can" vs "things I genuinely can't do or would hurt me to do to the point that even if they're technically possible for me to do, I functionally can't do them". Kids are no different - and quite honestly in my experience, no less able to articulate this than most adults, who also struggle to recognize the difference.

If it's discovered that it really is a bigger issue than "not wanting to", then it's a lot of work to make bigger adjustments. Sometimes it means temporarily dealing with the penalties of missing a necessary event - getting a doctor's note from a child psychologist to pull them out of school for more than 1-3 sick days while further uncovering the underlying cause of the inability to deal with school, for example. Is it undiagnosed neurodivergence? Untreated mental illness? Bullying? Some form of trauma unrelated to school that is still most impacting school? An ability to get a need met being severely impacted by the time and energy spent on school? Etc.

Anyway, part of the reason "your feelings are real but not always relevant" is so important is because it's a critical tool in determining when your feelings ARE relevant. And the earlier you learn that, the happier and healthier you'll be as you grow.

YM Idioms localization

So for the readers that try to support the novel by purchasing the and using MTL to get a good idea of the events, here's some fun extra information to enhance ur reading experience. YM is slightly unique, in that some of its idioms are almost impossible to localize to English 1:1 because 1) the usual differences in idioms by the country and 2) because of POV issues. When I translate/edit, I'm the type that tries to retain as much of the original language's intention while making it easy to understand for English readers. Some examples I'm having particular trouble with are:

Literal translation: "isn't seeing or hearing anything" It's a common idiom in KR meaning "too busy/no time to look or listen to anything" I could just leave it as is, but the nuance will be lost: Rupert is still frazzled by seeing her in the bathroom and is pretending to ignore her for his peace of mind, and that's why he's so shook when she pops up close to him again. That's a super cute detail that's really difficult to localize, because the story is written in Lari's POV, and she has no idea that Rupert is suffering because of HER (loool). I could translate it as "Although it felt like I was talking to myself, It was intended more for Rupert, who appeared to be too busy to notice me" ... or maybe even "who appeared to be too distracted to notice me" <--- will probably go with this. "Although it felt like I was talking to myself, It was intended more for Rupert, who appeared to be too distracted (reading) to notice me" ✅ Without actually saying "isn't seeing or hearing anything", by replacing it with "notice", it's evident he's not seeing/listening to her --> aka ignoring ✅ If I use distracted, it captures the continuity that he's distracted... by seeing her in the bath ^^ ✅ original author's intent retained -- Here's another one:

This is the ridiculous one: Literal translation: If you lie, you'll develop horns on your butt

KR idiom: A naughty calf grows horns on its buttocks

The meaning: this is a common KR expression that is often used by parents scolding a kid for continuing to do the bad thing. The nuance: In this case, Lari's basically scolding Rupert. She KNOWS he's hurt, and he's lying that he's fine, and she tries to get him to admit he's hurt but he refuses, and even tells her that she's lying - then she thinks he's so stubborn for insisting he's fine (continuing to lie) The request from my translator buddy:

So if I leave it as "If you lie, you'll develop horns on your butt", that's easy to do, but it does not capture AT ALL, Lari scolding Rupert like a kid and calling him out for his bad behavior of lying. The closest ENG idiom is "putting on a false front", but it's not the best.

So,

"Doesn't it hurt?" I attempted to grasp Rupert's forearm, but he concealed his arm. "It doesn't hurt." "You're lying." "Really." "I've heard that if you continue to lie, you will develop horns on your butt. Be cautious." "…You should stop lying too." So stubborn. Options: "You should stop lying and pretending you're fine. If you're not careful, and keep making that face it's gonna get stuck that way forever. "

"You should stop lying and pretending you're fine. If you're not careful, and keep making that face it's gonna get stuck that way forever. " because of Lari's current belief that he always looks dissatisfied and cranky and frowning, and basically tells him that if he continues to lie/scowl it'll be his permanent expression --> which we know doesn't happen because he's all smiles around her later ^^.

So, I'll probably go with -->

chainsaw man is becoming such a deeply personal manga to me like.. besides asa’s obvious strong need for independency/self-reliance ✅ because of her struggle with abandonment issues due to the loss of her parents ✅ and inability to relate/connect to her enviornment ✅ (awtism).. denjis struggle with hypersexuality is so relevant to me atm because - even though i am aware of how much i depend on being sexually desired to at least feel like im genuinely liked and cared for, and how hard it is for me to form platonic bonds in its absence - this whole hooking up and dating around thing made me realize that sexual validation is not giving me this security nearly as much as i assumed it would or did in the past, and just like denji - even though he has become completely self-aware of his problems - he just cant seem to do shit about it and neither can i lmao

#unhallowedarts - Castles, Swords and Nimble Wits. Hal Foster's Prince Valiant as Demon.

Maybe drawing ladies’ underwear for catalogues is not the worst job a young graphic artist can land. It was the first steady creative work young Harold from Halifax did. Back in 1912, for the Hudson Bay Company. And after moving on from drawers to drawing the Lord of the Apes, finally, in the early 1930, Hal Foster had a chance to prove what he dab hand he was in narrating stories with pictures. With a friend, he cycled the 1,000 miles from Canada to Chicago, to take art classes, studied the Great Ones from the Golden Age of Illustration and especially the American masters did it to him. With something close to his contemporary Leyendecker’s aesthetics, it were Maxfield Parrish and especially N.C. Wyeth who proved to be a major influence on one of the milestones of the development of graphic novels into a serious artistic medium: Hal Foster’s “Prince Valiant”. What looked like quite the adaption from Wyeth’s take on the rich imagery of “Le Morte d’Arthur” by Thomas Malory, published some 15 years before as “The Boy’s King Arthur”, Foster’s masterpiece of depicting a narrative was first published in the “New Orleans Picayune” in February 1937. And no one less than press tsar Randolph Hearst himself recognised the potential of Foster’s talent and tale and granted him full creative control and regular publication of what was to become the story of “Prince Valiant in the Days of King Arthur”. For the next 30 years, until Foster finally left the project in 1971.

“Prince Valiant” is, taken all its high artistic value for granted, Foster’s brilliant use of chiaroscuro and highly detailed, cinematic illustrations, as historical as a typical Hollywood history flick. Which means: not in the least. The 5th century late- and post-Roman world in Foster’s imagination is populated by Vikings, Muslims, Knights from the Late Middle Ages, Renaissance tech and what not. And we do have a historical date. Young Val witnesses the murder of Flavius Aëtius in Rome in September 454AD. That witches and wizards and dino-like swamp monsters disappeared from the story during the 1940s is hardly noticeable in Foster’s heap of broken historical images. But that usually doesn’t spoil a good story. At least if the hypocrite lecteur is not a true-blue historian who had archived his own sense of wonder somewhere in a deep cellar where spiders and dust bunnies nest and the ghosts of heroic epics walk the night. And as ahistorical as Foster narrates Val’s story, imagery and ideas remain brilliant, especially when his hero uses his brains instead of the magic “Singing Sword”, a downright loveable and inspiring trademark feature of the story.

One memorable take was published early on, already in August 1937. Young Val, still Sir Gawain’s squire, sets forth to wrest the castle of Maid Ilene’s parents from the clutches of a robber baron, appetisingly known as “The Ogre of Sinstar Wood”. And what sounds like the typical onset of a chivalric hero quest, climaxing in blood and thunder, is solved in an Ann Radcliffe-style Gothic charade. Making a devil’s mask from the skin of a captured goose and using his black cloak as something that looks like bat wings, Val invades the castle at night, doing quite the aerial acrobatic routine with a rope on the side, scares the Ogre to death and drives his henchmen from the castle by haunting the place for days in his demon guise. Mission accomplished, without a sword being drawn. And no one of his numerous successors in drawing chivalric – or other – adventure stories managed the same tongue-in-cheek humour and innovation in their take on epics than Foster did. While only few rival his artistic talent.

So, Eileen getting pregnant wasn't really the plan, they're both barely into their 20s, in school, still coping w/the aftermath of Egypt, etc.

But hey, Jolyne's born in 1992, + story happening so it goes.

I think both of their families are under the impression that there Has to be a wedding b/c they're having a kid together, and what's stopping them? They both love each other and have known each other for years.

The only thing Is... Well three things.

Eileen would rather be married after having the baby because she thinks it'd be cute to have the kid participate.

The timeline wouldn't be rushed on wedding prep.

And...she has issues.

Expanding on this:

Eileen's parents were never married, it was dating and then 'uh oh'. According to Eileen's mom, they did try to make it work.

Nobuko and Simon lived in Bordeaux up to when Eileen was born, then they moved to Japan so Nobuko would be closer to her family. She never really planned on living in France, it was supposed to be a vacation. During Eileen's first year they tried to make it work, but the kind of work raising a baby and trying to maintain a still relatively new relationship tested her parents. They resented each other, Simon wasn't ready to be a father and wasn't willing to put in the effort to try, there were a lot of arguments. Eventually, they made an arrangement and Simon returned to France. He would send gifts and letters intermittently, so he could be remotely involved in Eileen's life (cause he didn't hate his daughter). Nobuko thought he was a coward for this but it would've only been worse if he stayed.

Eileen wouldn't really know about the messy details of her parents' arrangement until she blew up at her mother about it before SDC. To Eileen, Simon was the cool dad who just couldn't be there and her mother was just bitter and selfish, and Nobuko would rather have Eileen have that opinion than thinking her father didn't really care all that much. That he was immature and couldn't commit (not the entire reason he left).

Up to this point Eileen would dream about living with her mother and father in France, where her mom wouldn't have to work so hard all the time, and Eileen wouldn't spend most of her time at home alone. Having that fantasy shattered, that her father had expressed to her mother that he didn't really want to commit to getting to know his daughter emotionally. Life would've likely been worse, the hypothetical but likely arguments (loud voices, throwing things), that she would have to play the mediator between them, etc. Really hurt.

So here's Eileen, 21, younger than her parents were when they happened to each other... She's scared.

✅It's not because she thinks Jotaro is at all like her father (I think I'll do a separate post for Joot's rxn).

✅They've known each other a total of 3 years as opposed to the months her parents knew each other.

❌ What if rushing into a marriage + having a baby somehow undoes this good?

She worries about resentment, about Jotaro finding some hypothetical flaw of hers that drives him away...so wouldn't it be better to take marriage out of the equation for now?

It sounds cold, that it would be easier to deal with the aftermath of a break up than a divorce. But it can be reduced to that logic.

Ultimately, Eileen and Jotaro end up getting married in 1996, but I think I'll have to get into the beef of what gets them to that point at.....not 3:33?

Hey y’all, I decided to throw in my two cents about Helluva Boss’s newest episode.

I kinda wish I rambled about this when the episode was still kinda fresh but whatever.

I’m going to be blunt; the newest Helluva Boss episode left me feeling completely let down.

First off, the writing. I’ll get this one out of the way first, because it’s what I have the most issue with.

Ever since Chaz was teased in the season 2 trailer, he’s been pretty hyped as being a big part of Moxxie’s past. His storyline with Moxxie by itself would have been a perfect episode, especially for one so early in the season. And from the way it was set up in the trailer, his past with Moxxie looked like it would be the focus of an entire episode, and not just a quick flashback.

Crimson was revealed way too early. He should have been in a separate episode, maybe even a season finale. His importance to Moxxie’s backstory and his character as a whole would obviously set the tone for a darker and more dramatic episode, or so one would think. Chaz’s humor as a character shouldn’t have been in the same episode as Crimson’s role in Moxxie’s past.

Bottom line there, is that merging Chaz and Crimson into one plotline was a big fucking mistake on the show’s part.

Secondly, the characters. This season has really taken a dive in terms of how the cast is written.

Blitz is gradually becoming an unsympathetic jerkass, especially in regards to Moxxie. He literally said he wasn’t gonna fuck Chaz because he hurt Moxxie and Millie, and then one sentence later he and Chaz are boning so loud that Moxxie can hear them. The show really likes making a total asshole out of him.

Moxxie remains the show’s punching bag. Even though this is yet another Moxxie episode, the narrative is pitted against him, like it is with basically every Moxxie-centered episode.

As for Millie, the show has officially proven by now that it doesn’t consider her an important character. Her only role is “Moxxie’s psycho wife” and that’s it. Even in the episode that features her family and is set in her hometown, it’s ultimately about Moxxie and Blitz. The only parts where she’s prominently featured are to cheer Moxxie on, or to save him from whatever mess he got himself into during that episode.

And my final gripe… the humor. This episode’s humor was absolutely rotten.

We’ve got:

✅ Fatphobia

✅ Homophobia

✅ Moxxie sucks

✅ Chaz has a big dick

✅ Chaz doesn’t know what boundaries are

To be fair, I did actually laugh at the whole “dicks in the walls” joke. ONCE. But then the episode decided to abuse it whenever they could. And putting it at the end of a traumatic flashback was just fucking cruel to do. And for me, all the misplaced jokes are what really ruined the episode, partly because of reasons that I stated before regarding Crimson and Chaz being in the same plot.

Speaking of Crimson, making him homophobic was absolutely unnecessary. Because apparently, you can’t write awful parents without making them bigots. And making it part of the episode’s HUMOR, was absolutely unacceptable. If Vivzie tries to do this shit with Lucifer once Hazbin Hotel drops, I’m gonna go nuts.

Final assessment: Season One was far more entertaining than Season Two is, and Season Two is only three episodes in. I’m still trying to hold out for this show, but I’m slowly losing my hope.

And I just wanna say… if this kind of bullshit writing happens to Barbie Wire, I am officially giving up on the fucking show.
