Cheers to being so hydrated that our pee is clear! ⠀⠀ TMI? Too bad. This is a PSA : Most hikers don’t drink enough water (including myself) and quickly get dehydrated. 💦 ⠀⠀ They say you lose about 2 liters of water every hour in very hot weather, and about half a liter in temperate weather. You should be drinking water on the trail, even when you don’t feel thirsty. Enough to make your pee nearly clear. ⠀⠀ I’m not a fan of drinking water unless it’s ice cold. Luckily, @hydroflask ‘s are vacuum insulated to keep your drink cold for up to 24 hours! (And hot for up to 12). ⠀⠀ I’ll usually add ice, and even lemon juice or berries to encourage me to H Y D R A T E! Just slap a carabiner on that bad boy and you’re good to go! 🥾 . . . . . #hydroflask #parksforall #gardenofthegods #heyletsgo #travelstoke #neverstopexploring #campingcollective #welivetoexplore #feedyouradventure #adventureenthusiasts #hikingculture #trekkingtoes #reusablebottle #outdoorgear #outdoorwoman #outdoorbloggers #outdoorgear #reioutdoorgear #outdoorgearwomen #hydrated #hikinggear #hikelikeagirl #hikersofinstagram #hikertrash #hikergirl (at Garden of the Gods Park) https://www.instagram.com/p/B1KIiHFhsGy/?igshid=m3jtsrat2zpv

This is one of my fav photos. @hydroflask Heading back from Delicate Arch at sunset during the winter season. No one around us, just quiet as can be. I could never tire of this place. Arches is the National Park that I have spent the most time in and is just plain amazing. You cannot describe it to anyone. Pictures sure are pretty but it's nothing compared to experiencing it in person. Can't wait to get back! #liverefreshed #weloveourparks #parksforall #lifeelevated #poweryourpassion #zerolimits #embracethespace #laceupandexplore #sunset #havenolimits #andshesdopetoo #earthgirllifestyle #garmin (at Arches National Park)

Great outdoor films that show people of color as explorers
By now you know we have a healthy sense of adventure and are always game for a trip that includes exploring the outdoors. When we shared our 8 favorite outdoor movies you might’ve guessed we enjoy a good film, so we think it is only fitting to share some upcoming outdoor films that we are excited about. These films haven’t been released across the nation or received the mainstream buzz like Wild recieved when it was released, but they are receiving critical acclaim and rave reviews at film festivals.
These films, An American Ascent and Love in the Tetons, created by The Joy Trip Project (with Distill Productions) and National Park Experience, respectively, really resonate with us because they highlight diversity issues in the outdoors and remind us of both how and why we fell in love with outdoor recreation. They appear to have spellbinding stories with amazing cinematography that continues to inspire us to do what we do - create an online platform that makes it easier for people of color to get outdoors. And this is just from the trailers and information we read; we can’t wait to see both films.
Without further ado, check out the trailers for An American Ascent, Love in the Tetons, and Gateway. Enjoy!

If this trailer got you hyped, which we know it did, check out the book - The Adventure Gap! We highly recommend it.

Check out this short film on Gateway National Recreation Area in NYC, which is managed by the National Park Service, for city dwellers like ourselves. If you or someone you know is interested, check out Your Park! Your Health! internship opportunities here.

Q: It was a major drawing card for Daniel Pratt and his dream to build a mill. An LWCF grant has made it a draw for recreation in Autauga County. What is it?
Late 19th century image of Pratt from Wikipedia
A: Autauga Creek, which Pratt harnessed to build a mill village and which the city of Prattville has since used as a backdrop for parks and used for water recreation.
