Have you done anything fun recently?
Life's a circus yo!!! The highs and the lows, let me be the one who puts the fun in funeral :))
But truly last week I was so unbelievably in the moment: shouted and sang along every word to every song to the Phoebe Bridgers concert in Amsterdam (whom I wanted to see live since 2017 because I connect to her music and spirit so much), then the next day I had more fun than I could EVER expect seeing KISS play their final farewell tour in Amsterdam. Had a party last night someplace around, and I videocalled a good friend who lives in Pennsylvania and we caught up on good times passed... Tomorrow I'm applying for the renewal of my passport and driver's license lol and hopefully find an appartment to rent in The Hague over the course of next week because time's tickinggg
So. That's a fun life. The highs and the lows.

One day at Motel Mozaique
Truth be told, if you told me I’d ever find myself going to this festival I would have give you a look of surprise. Unlike Rewire, MoMo (as it’s lovingly called) is a place with a more friendly and popular programme. My taste for experimental and electronic music wouldn’t be satisfied.
However the festival put on my radar when I found out they had some solid producers like Rival consoles and Gold Panda on the line-up and put them on the same night… Tickets were sold out, but with a lively second-hand market I was able to get a ticket.
In general, MoMo is a rather considerate and friendly festival. It tries to limit its waste, so they rather not give schedules – I asked for one, because I was without a phone, and it rewards good behaviour – I was given a stamp granting discounts, because I came to the festival by train.
After I collect my wristband, I head for the first venue. Rival Consoles was to play early in the evening and I wanted to get a good spot. However, as I enter the lobby, which was pretty crowded, I spy a poster with an update: Rival Consoles is sick. (Edit: turns out he has covid and feeling unwell. All the best to him.)
That took me by surprise. I mean Rewire lost one of the acts I wanted to see, but it happened a few weeks prior to the event. This was a little different. So, I left the lobby and decided to pick up my plan B. This meant going back to the ship where I saw PVA last year. Part walk/part metro and I found myself back at the venue.
Softcult is a Canadian band consisting of twin sisters Mercedes and Phoenix Arn-Horn. Their genre is grunge with some instrumental rock on the side. Live they were accompanied by two guitar players. Apart from rocking out, they are a band with an activist message. Halfway through the performance Mercedes introduces a song by dedicating it to Sarah Everhardt. (TLDR: she was abducted, assaulted and killed by a policeman in London.) Unfortunately, there were some technical difficulties during the show, but after ‘turning it off and on again’, the band was able to finish their set without any further errors. Regardless, a solid effort.
Next, I wandered around Rotterdam to find the next venue. Safe to say, I’m not as knowledgeable about Rotterdam as The Hague. This also became painfully clear when someone shows me a map of the venues and I got none of them right. Oh, but the places I go and see!
Ah well, the music starts. Yunè Pinku supports her own vocal work with fun beats and sequencers and it works. People sway and move along as she blends her songs into a dance party. I had expected a bit more hyperpop along the lines of yeule’s, but Pinku is her own woman. Another solid performance, albeit a little tame for my strange mind.
Lastly, I close the evening with Gold Panda, who enjoys the bass as much as the beats. The room is a moving entity, as his instrumental hiphop creations trickle out of the speakers, while the beat keeps people going.  There’s one funny moment. As I move along to the tunes, there’s a small collision with a woman. We look at each other, raise our hands to check if the other is okay and say sorry. In doing so, due to close proximity, our gestures turn into the smallest and least intentional high-five I’ve seen. So, we give a smile and a nod before we each continue on.
There’s more to hear, but I’ve got more to do. After Rewire, a night at MoMo was a bonus and it showed me again why I like Rotterdam. It’s a city with its own face. I made plenty of notes for both current as well as future stories.

Putin Makes First Visit To Occupied Territory Mariupol In Ukraine
The Russian leader took a tour of the city and was seen driving a car. The Kremlin said he visited a rebuilt musical theatre and followed the presentation of a report on reconstruction work.
Tumblr media
Kyiv, Ukraine: Russian President Vladimir Putin made a surprise trip to Mariupol, the Kremlin said Sunday, his first visit to territory captured from Ukraine since the start of Moscow's invasion.
The visit triggered an angry reaction from Ukraine, with a presidential aide blasting its "cynicism" and "lack of remorse".
Just hours after Putin visited Crimea to mark the ninth anniversary of the peninsula's annexation, video distributed by the Kremlin showed him landing by helicopter in Mariupol, the port city that Moscow captured after a long siege last spring.
The Russian leader took a tour of the city and was seen driving a car. The Kremlin said he visited a rebuilt musical theatre and followed the presentation of a report on reconstruction work.
"We're praying for you," a resident told Putin, referring to the city as "a little piece of paradise", according to images broadcast by Russian state TV which showed that the visit took place at night.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters the visit took place "very late" on Saturday and into the early hours of Sunday.
It was Putin's first trip to the eastern Donbas region since he launched the invasion in February 2022, and comes almost a year after Moscow announced the capture of Mariupol.
Located on the shores of the Sea of Azov, the city was left devastated after Moscow's relentless bombardment and brutal siege.
"The criminal always returns to the crime scene... the murderer of thousands of Mariupol families came to admire the ruins of the city and (its) graves. Cynicism and lack of remorse," Ukrainian presidential aide Mykhaylo Podolyak said on Twitter.
Ukraine's defence ministry said on Twitter that Putin visited the city at night "as befits a thief".
Putin hails China's Ukraine role -
Putin also met army chiefs in the southern Russian city of Rostov-on-Don near the border with Ukraine, the Kremlin said.
Russian state TV showed him visiting the Black Sea port city of Sevastopol, during his unannounced visit to Crimea on Saturday, accompanied by the local Moscow-appointed governor Mikhail Razvozhayev.
Russia annexed Crimea in 2014 following a referendum that was not recognised by Kyiv or the international community.
Putin's weekend visits came ahead of a trip to Moscow this week by Chinese President Xi Jinping, widely seen as a diplomatic coup for the Russian leader.
On Sunday, Putin welcomed China's willingness to play a "constructive role" in ending the conflict in Ukraine.
The quality of ties between Moscow and Beijing is "higher than the political and military unions of the Cold War era", Putin said in an article written for a Chinese newspaper and published by the Kremlin on the eve of Xi's visit.
Beijing, a strategic ally of Moscow, has touted the trip as a "visit for peace" as it seeks to play mediator in the Ukraine conflict. China has sought to position itself as a neutral party, urging Moscow and Kyiv to open negotiations.
But Western leaders have repeatedly criticised Beijing for failing to condemn Russia's offensive, accusing it of providing Moscow with diplomatic cover for its campaign.
'Void' ICC warrant -
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, made no direct reference to Putin's Mariupol visit in his evening address Sunday.
But he vowed: "The evil state (Russia) will be held accountable for every act of terror against Ukrainians".
Zelensky referred again to the warrant issued last week for Putin by the International Criminal Court, describing it as "a turning point".
The Hague-based ICC had issued the warrant for Putin over Russia's alleged deportation of thousands of Ukrainian children during the conflict.
Kyiv says more than 16,000 Ukrainian children have been deported to Russia since the start of the conflict, many of them placed in institutions and foster homes.
Justice ministers from 40 countries will meet in London on Monday to discuss boosting international support for the ICC as it investigates possible war crimes in the conflict.
"We are gathering... to hold war criminals to account for the atrocities committed in Ukraine during this unjust, unprovoked and unlawful invasion," UK Deputy Prime Minister, Dominic Raab said in a statement.
The Kremlin has dismissed the warrant's validity as "void" since Russia does not recognise the ICC's jurisdiction.
Fighting on the ground is concentrated in the eastern Donetsk region of Ukraine, particularly the city of Bakhmut.
Russian shelling on Sunday killed three people and injured two others in the village of Kamianske in the southern Zaporizhzhia region, the regional administration said.

"LIFE'S A SHORT TERM MEMORY" - Mopes
Back again for the second time, the artist formerly known as PROLYPHIC continues to build his new name and flexes a veteran perspective on UNWOUND, a new self-produced LP that reveals more about the man of multiple monikers than any project before it. "The last 5 years for me have been an unwinding of who I was as a person, who I am as a person, what I've been through and where I'm going," explains Mopes. "You can't jump the process, and the process for me was therapy, self-reflection, and self-analysis." The results of this time-well-spent can be felt on tracks like "Life's A Short Term Memory" (the first video) and the first single "One That Got Away," which take a frank, measured, and unflinching look into the world around and the world inside of Mopes. The journey continues on "Home Is Like A Tough Leather Jacket," which revisits his Rhode Island origins and the winding road that led to where he is today. "When a spool of thread has issues, it kinks and spins out of control, but keeps spinning until it breaks down. That's a perfect analogy for who I'd become. For me to get back to zero and get to the root of my issues, I needed to go through the necessary task of unwinding all of that thread. I had to slowly unravel the layers to get to the core. The writing, and the title 'Unwound,' reflect that work," says Mopes. The process is also represented visually in the cover artwork of Lamadomus, who designed Mopes' self-titled debut EP in 2021. Like that EP, "Unwound" features a classic Strange Famous posse cut - this time it's "Introvert Party." SFR emcees Jesse The Tree and Runt (of Jivin' Scientists) and vocalist Lynzi Stringer (last heard on ALXNDRBRWN's "Glow Kid" project) join Mopes to mild out in the separate-together manner the title promises. Additionally, Mopes enlisted StrangeFam stalwarts Buddy Peace on cuts, Alan Hague (Prayers For Atheists) on guitar, and Joshua Trinidad (Wheelchair Sports Camp) on trumpet, turning the project into a family affair, and helping to ensure that the introspective tone of the proceedings doesn’t weigh too heavily on the listener. The trio sprinkled their expert flourishes throughout a dozen molten slabs of grit-and-dust that make up the classic beats we've come to expect from Mopes. "Unwound" is a perfect place for the uninitiated and the just-getting-reacquainted alike to get on board for the burgeoning Mopes renaissance - the multi-hyphenate has no less than a half-dozen projects in the works as either an emcee or producer (or both), some of which will surface in the year ahead, and all of which deliver his signature Strange Famous flavor like no other. Mopes "Unwound" dropped February 18, 2022 everywhere you listen to music, and is available now at StrangeFamous.com and on Bandcamp.

Part 1 ; Part 2
Part 3 -
Music was blasting in the boys’ cabin and John B made sure to keep the lights dimmed to a maximum, adding to what he referred to as ‘the groovy ambiance’. Caroline and Sarah entered the cabin, leading the way for all of their fellow girl counselors. Word spread faster than a wildfire around the Wildcat Lodge and now everyone was attending what was meant to be a welcoming party for just the boys. Caroline leaned against the ladder of one of the bunk beds and crossed her arms as her and Sarah waited in anticipation for their grand scheme to play out.
“Caroline, Sarah!” John B’s voice alerted them as he snuck up between them, hooking an arm around both their shoulders, “Right on time for the big surprise!” he said, walking dramatically towards what the girls already knew to be his luggage. He turned the music down on his way there, “Alright everybody, listen up!” he said, stopping by his bed, gathering everyone’s attention, “I’m sure to most of us, if not all of us – camp Willowdale is a token of light, a beacon of faith, an ode to nostalgia, if you will,” he spoke dramatically, waving his hands around, making Caroline and Sarah chuckle, “Which is why we have all gathered here tonight, and for that reason, I have done my due diligence and prepared a special surprise for all of us. Girls and boys, allow me to introduce to you,” his hands went to unzip the bag, “Ton-” his eyes widened in horror as he unzipped the bag, revealing it to be totally empty, except for his scarce clothes and the limp body of what appeared to be a dead owl at the bottom.
Everyone around him seemed either disappointed or confused as he frantically ran around the room, looking for his alcohol stash. Caroline and Sarah, however, gasped at the sight before them.
“Shit,” muttered Sarah, “What the hell is that? When I said I was hoping there wouldn’t be animals in there I didn’t think there’d actually be animals in there…”
Caroline shook her head, “Screw what it is! The real question is – who put it there?”
The girls were so focused on their conversation they barely noticed JJ showing up, “You girls know anything about this?” he said, making both of them jump.
“JJ!” Caroline said, trying to mask all sense of worry in her voice, “How could we possibly know anything about this?”
“We did it,” said Sarah quickly, “We stole the alcohol, but we swear to God we have no idea who put that pigeon in there!”
“Sarah!” hissed Caroline, only making Sarah shrug.
“What?” the girl said, “If there’s some psycho playing tricks on us, we might as well have a guy on our side!”
JJ raised an eyebrow, a small smile spreading on his face, “You’re telling me you two are behind this?”, he said, looking at Caroline impressed, “Gee, Carrie, didn’t picture you to be the bad type,”
Caroline’s cheeks heated up immediately as Sarah rolled her eyes and turned to look at JJ, “Earth to Maybank, are you listening to me? We only stole the booze, we didn’t put that in there!”
“Relax, girls,” said JJ, “Knowing John B, that little fucker probably sat dead at the bottom of his bag for a while before you even got to the alcohol,”
Caroline and Sarah both scrunched their noses in disgust, however what JJ was saying did make sense.
“You’re probably right,” sighed Caroline, “Booze is in our storage room, me and Sarah will go fetch it now,” she said, pulling Sarah out of the cabin.
“Are you crazy?” Sarah hissed at her, “Do you really want to give them all that alcohol back? Jesus, Carrie, how the hell do you expect me to last all summer sober? It’s bad enough I have to bunk with Madison Hague…”
“Relax, Sarah, I’m sure there’s gonna be a handful of teenagers with secret stashes of alcohol just waiting to be confiscated,”
Sarah sighed in relief, “You’re totally right, C,” she said, shaking her head as they walked the few steps up to their cabin’s door, “We’re just gonna rob our teens! What could possibly go wrong?”
As she said that and pressed onto the door handle, an ear-piercing scream echoed through the forest, making the hairs on the back of her arm stand.
“What was that?!” she quickly turned to Caroline, who was just as frozen as she was. Counselors started coming out of the boys’ cabin, the music dying down again suddenly. JJ and John B quickly made their way towards the girls, both visibly concerned.
“Are you alright?” said JJ.
Caroline nodded, crossing her arms, “I am, but whoever’s in there doesn’t sound like they are,” she said, tilting her head in the direction of the thick forest from where the scream came.
By this point, Pricilla and the rest of the head staff appeared from the staff lodge, all looking slightly tipsy as they paced through the path to the counselors’ cabins.
“What in the world is going on here?” Pricilla said, trying not to slur her words.
“Sounds like we should be asking you the same thing,” John B muttered under his breath, earning a chuckle from JJ.
“Our guess is as good as yours, Miss P,” explained Topper, shrugging, “We were all hanging out in there when we heard the scream and came out,”
“Well whose was it?” enquired Pricilla, looking slightly annoyed that her night had to be cut short for these teenagers’ shenanigans. When no one could give her an answer, she rolled her eyes and waved them over, “Come on then, off to Wildcat Lodge. We’re gonna have to do a count,”
Once everyone was gathered in the lodge, Pricilla waited for Mrs. Darbyshire, who also seemed a bit too drunk to be taking any of this seriously, to bring her a list of all the counselors’ names.
“Alright,” she said once the list was in her hands, “I’m gonna do a name call. Once we figure out who’s missing, you’re gonna go into that forest and look for them.” This earned her a bunch of annoyed comments and groans, making Pricilla snap back, “Don’t give me that shit, you lost ‘em, now you gotta find ‘em.”
“This is bullshit,” Caroline crossed her arms, “We’re literally minors, what are they gonna do?”
“They’re gonna finish their party,” interjected JJ.
Caroline shook her head in annoyance as Pricilla started reading out everyone’s names one by one.
“Jenna Kinley?”
“Here!”
“Kelce Johnson?”
“Here.”
“Barry Smith?”
“S’up.”
“Madison Hague?”
No answer.
This made Pricilla stand up straighter, looking around the pool of counselors in front of her, “Madison are you here?” when there was no reply yet again, she sighed loudly, “Has anyone seen Madison?”
“Last time I saw her, she said she was going to the girls’ cabin to pick up a jacket,” chimed in Topper.
“Oh, for the love of-” Pricilla groaned loudly, “This better not be a stupid prank, or I swear!”
“I should’ve just given her one of my jackets…” muttered Topper, “Now I feel kinda guilty,”
“Hey, it’s alright,” said Caroline, tapping him on the shoulder, “I’m sure she only saw a bug or something,”
“I trust you’ll all disperse and look for your friend now,” said Pricilla, “In the meantime, us adults will be supervising the Wildcat Lodge,”
“Supervising from what?” asked JJ confused.
“In case… Madison comes back here, of course!” Pricilla quickly lied, “Now off you go, Maybank, you ask way too many questions!”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
“This is ridiculous,” moaned Sarah after bouncing down the stairs of the girls’ cabin with a bag on her arm, “As if this summer couldn’t get any worse,”
“Pipe it, princess,” bit back JJ, “If you didn’t insist on stopping by the cabin before we went into the woods, maybe we’d have called it a night by now.”
“Don’t big yourself too much, Maybank,” she said, leading their pack into the trees and looking around to see whether the coast was clear, “You see, while you were moping around outside, I picked up some provisions,” she said, a devilish smirk spreading on her face as she pulled out a bottle of whiskey from her bag.
Caroline’s jaw nearly broke off, “Sarah, are you serious?”
Sarah only shrugged, “What? I told you I’m not gonna make it through tonight sober, besides, if I’m gonna be looking for the bitch I was hoping wouldn’t be here in the first place, I’d rather be shit-faced when I find her,”
Caroline rolled her eyes, snatching the bottle from Sarah’s hands, “Yeah, well, if I’m going to be looking for the bitch with you, I’d rather be shit-faced too,” she said, taking a rather large swig of the alcohol and hissing at the taste.
“Sweet,” said JJ, picking the bottle up from Caroline, “This is better than the party,”
John B agreed as he got hold of the bottle last.
The group walked through the forest, flashlights in hand, taking the whiskey bottle in turns and laughing as they went. John B had argued that if Sarah could pick something from her cabin, then he could pick his speaker from his, and so the four of them found themselves nearing the clearance by the lake, drunk and singing along to some cheesy song that was currently playing loud enough for only them to hear.
“It’s a good thing Pricilla wanted us here a day early,” slurred John B slightly, “Now you girls have set up the bonfire area and we can chill there,”
Sarah rolled her eyes, “Yeah, you’d know all about that, wouldn’t you?”
John B raised an eyebrow and turned to Caroline, “What’s she talking about?”
Just as Caroline was about to answer, they reached the bonfire area, which much to her dismay – had been totally wrecked, once again.
“This,” she said, anger quickly replacing the previous buzz she was feeling from the alcohol.
“Whoa, who did this?” said JJ, flashing his flashlight in the direction of the discarded logs and pillows.
“What do you mean who did this?” snapped Sarah, “Why’d you think we stole your alcohol?”
“Sarah, we didn’t do this,” John B shook his head.
Sarah stopped dead in her tracks, her face becoming slightly worried “What do you mean you didn’t do this? Then who did?”
“Guys,” Caroline chimed in from across the bonfire area, where the fire was supposed to be lit the following night, “Come check this out,”
The three teens made their way towards Caroline who was flashing her light at one of the rocks at the base of the fire pit. There was something written on it with a gooey substance the origin of which none of them wanted to question.
“I don’t know who did it, but whoever it was,” said Caroline, stepping back from the rock so that her friends could see what was written more clearly on it, “Probably did this, too.”
And there on the rock, written with what looked an awfully lot like blood, were plastered four words:
Come and find me
On their travels through regional and European stages, the Slovenian sensation stopped by in Rijeka, putting on a concert spectacle for the Rijeka audience in the sold out Pogon Kulture.
Huge international hype, triggered by the recognisable song “Carpe Diem”, threw this Slovenian indie rock five into a demanding concert tempo which has resulted in several European mini tours, confirming the growing popularity of the band outside of their country’s borders.
Despite their dense schedule of sold out concerts, just before the sound check, we caught the members of the band, frontman Bojan Cvjetićanin and guitarist Kris Guštin, and talked with them more about all current events and changes that will follow in the upcoming time period.
A series of “flying” gigs
“Our lifestyle has drastically changed in the last few months. For the first time, we’re travelling as a band and encountering new situations that we’ve never dealt with before, new great experiences and new small problems that, of course, come with it.
More or less, logistics on the road are the biggest problem, but we’ve just returned from our third tour this year. We played in Poland, Lithuania, and Czechia, and it was a really great tour that lasted about two weeks,” said Bojan.
Rijeka, as the last concert in the current cycle, marks the end of travelling with a tour bus. After a week of rest, the band will go on a series of “flying gigs”, which includes Skopje, Munich, The Hague, Amsterdam, Madrid, Barcelona, and, of course, Slovenia at the end of the year.
The fact that Joker Out has already won the hearts of the audience is certainly confirmed by the awarding of "Carpe Diem" with a Golden Record in Finland, as well as recognition by the prestigious booking agency Wasserman.
“We have always welcomed people into the team according to some key to enter our circle more or less naturally, and we were lucky when things rose to the point where actually Ryan, our booking agent from Wasserman, got in contact with us because he was at our concert in London.
He liked how things worked and wanted to start working together, so we were more than happy with the fact that a man from abroad was the first to join our team, somebody who first enjoyed our performance and saw a bigger picture and saw himself as a part of it, in maybe an even bigger version, in the next few years,” revealed Bojan.
Tumblr media
Käärijä and Let 3
As much as the process of recognition and breakthrough came suddenly, the discography of the band came at a similar pace. From their beginnings in Ljubljana in 2016, they released their first album only five years later, and the second one - less than a year after the first.
The longer process of musical growth, which began in the band’s high school days, dictated the slow pace of searching for their own sound in singles which eventually, with disruptions due to COVID, culminated in their first serious discography steps, and then in the revolution called Eurovision.
Lightning fast popularity has brought a series of strong music acquaintances to the band, of which their close relationship with Käärijä and Let 3 certainly stand out.
“We met Käärijä at a pre-party in Madrid, he was on a similar energy level as us - he didn’t take himself too seriously and we didn’t either. He was quite open-minded and had a positive approach to the whole situation, so we really connected on that level during Eurovision when huge things were happening to everyone, in the form of media pressure and new situations every day, so it suited us all to have each other to share those feelings.
We stayed in regular contact, we even performed together during our Finnish tour. He left literally everything he had scheduled in his calendar and became a part of the band for four days,” Bojan and Kris remembered.
In a way, the Jokers are an even bigger anomaly in a region marked by a certain language barrier towards its western parts. Despite the cultural and genre homogeneity, Joker Out managed to suspend the primacy of “Serbian and Croatian trap folk music”, showing and proving that Slovenian shagadelic rock and roll also has a place in this whole genre cauldron.
Tumblr media
There’s nothing like it in the Balkans
The guys therefore confirm that Slovenia has a lot of quality to offer in terms of new artists, and concert events as well, which are richer compared to the rest of the region.
“Before we started with ex-Yugoslavia, there was always the question of if there was space for a band of this type in the Balkans, because we know this genre of music isn’t the most popular right now. Actually, there’s no band like this in the Balkans, maybe just Buč Kesidi, so we didn’t know what to expect in terms of our popularity in these regions.
I think everything went really well, we were surprised how many people were eager to hear a live band, regardless of the language they sing in,” Kris pointed out.
And it seems that the regional (and worldwide) audience welcomes every new Joker Out show with open arms, because they sing along with equal intensity to the melodies in Slovenian, and also in English, which will certainly take over the steering wheel of the band’s creative direction in the coming period.
The same is evident in the fruitful collaboration with Elvis Costello, who was delighted with the single ‘Novi Val’ and earlier this year joined in the English version of the song, ‘New Wave’, and also the latest single ‘Sunny Side of London’ - which leaves little room for doubt about where Joker Out will set up their new creative camp.
“Next year in January we are moving to London, where we plan to absorb new energies in an unfamiliar living space, so we will change our environment in order to create a new album that will be released by the end of October 2024 at the latest.
We will be more in contact with the English language, which on the one hand represents a mental break for us, because we are used to creating music in the Slovenian language, but there will still be all kinds of material - mostly English, but also songs in Slovenian, Serbian, and Croatian,” Bojan and Kris concluded.
I would hardly say Trump’s problems with Obama and Hillary are performative. While it’s certainly true that in terms of policy, they have more in common than not, it must be remembered that Donald Trump is a genuine fascist. As bad as the likes of these right-of-center neoliberal goons are, there is still a wide difference between themselves and Trump. Trump, and most certainly the ranks of his supporters, were and continue to be furious that a black man sat in the Oval Office for eight years, regardless of his expansions of US imperialism. Hillary Clinton, for all her rancid bourgeois machinations, is still an educated, politically motivated woman. She has aspirations that do not exist along the lines or the ideal of the “traditional” woman. Again, as miserable and loathsome as she is, these are qualities that the likes of Donald Trump & Company cannot abide by. The Bushes, The Clintons, Obama, and Biden are despicable. They are faithless, self serving tools of the bourgeoisie, and most of them, frankly, ought to be locked up in The Hague. But they and Trump are not the same. Liberalism, for all its crimes, is not fascism. Though both are evil, there is still an ocean between them, and the rage and hatred fascists bare for their liberal counterparts is genuine.
I have certainly heard arguments that Donald Trump is a grifter, whose simply using an empowered fascist movement to Music Man his way into power. There is certainly an element of this to him, but frankly, the man is far too openly and emotionally invested in his own politics for that to be entirely true. There is plenty to his image that can be called performative. He is a showman by nature, and his refusal to say anything good, publicly at least, about Ron DeSantis proves that the center of his political desires is still always that he must be the leader. He is a narcissist, he will suffer no rivals, and that much will never change. But after everything we’ve seen and been through, the truth should be relatively inescapable. When Donald Trump goes on stage to rave against his enemies, and what he sees going on the country, he genuinely believed everything he’s saying.
I don't disagree with a word you've said, but there appears to be some kind of unspoken agreement between the parties that big names are untouchable. The fascists aren't going after Obama and Hillary or Biden, they're going after regular people without the resources to fight back because they're easy targets and the media wouldn't come to their defense en masse. Hitler and Stalin purged whatever political figures they wanted, Putin and Kim purge whatever political figures they want, Trump could theoretically have purged whatever political figures he wanted but didn't (he had Chelsea Manning thrown back in jail, but she's still alive and she wasn't a big name power player to begin with). He made vague threats to rile up his audience and encouraged stochastic terrorism to maintain plausible deniability, but he's a master at covering his own tracks so nothing ever sticks even if it's traced directly to him. He'd find a scapegoat in his orbit and throw them under the bus; if they stayed quiet he would pardon them and endorse them in whatever they decided to do going forward, but if they said a single word against him he would claim they were always on his Shit List and he never liked them anyway. Trump is a fascist, no question about that, all I meant was that no matter how much he hates his political opponents, he never acted on any of his threats against them, which makes the threats seem like they were half-hearted the whole time because he is not a man known for showing restraint. If he had wanted Obama or Hillary or then VP Biden dead, he could have and would have taken them out, and he would have tried to make it look like an accident, even if the coverup was half-assed and everyone could see through it (like how all of Putin's enemies just so happen to fall out of seventh story windows, or they inexplicably wind up poisoned in a seedy hotel room). He would have denied culpability and he would almost certainly have gotten away with it, so what stopped him besides apathy? I therefore conclude that big names are simply off limits even to someone as vindictive as Donald Trump, so he sics his goons after the tired, the poor, the huddled masses and wretched refuse yearning to breathe free on our teeming shores. He's aiming for the low hanging fruit because he can, and I'm sure that given another term he would start aiming higher, but as it stands his threats against colleagues were, are, and will likely remain empty. Pelosi and Schumer and the January 6 Committee members and the so-called "RINOs" who voted to impeach him are all safe (the latter may lose their primaries, but he won't go after them or their families once the election is over), so American fascists know who's an acceptable target and who's not. If Trump or his supporters killed a big name, the riots and civil unrest that followed would make 2020 look like child's play.
He'll come for me or you, he'll come for our friends and family, but he won't come for anyone we'd vote for.
