I think it’s sad how Mattel is ignoring Barbie’s 2000s era. I don’t even know why they are shying away from that era. It’s one of Barbie’s best and iconic eras.

It’s also pretty stupid from a marketing standpoint. People are obsessed with the 2000s now and Mattel could take advantage of it by releasing dolls from that era. Heck, YouTubers are making content about their love for the 2000s Barbie movie and Mattel is still ignoring the demand for merchandise for those movies.

Even MGA is taking advantage of it by giving bratz a huge comeback and they are successful in doing that. Mattel sees this as a huge threat and is releasing two bratz clones (a new one, dream bestie and the old one, my scene) to compete. But they aren’t doing what MGA is doing: releasing repos of their most successful doll lines from the 2000s and make references to the movies from that era.
