People who can have sideblogs or just one dedicated to a singular fandom confuse me so much. I tried that once and then it became a mess of random fandoms. I'll reblog posts from wildly different fandoms within one hour. I could never do limit it to three per sideblog. I'd rather have be a mess and post about a different fandom every pther week.

people, and why they confuse me.
i have come to a point in my life where i am beginning to understand people less and less and i cannot comprehend other’s thought processes.
i know not everyone thinks like me, yet i wonder: why? because i cannot comprehend thinking like they do.
this, now, has made me reach a point of frustration cause idk what to do anyone. idk what people want or expect from me. i can understand why people are the way they are, how and why they think certain things, but to me, in regards to what i think is logical, it doesn’t make sense.
so, this has made me hate people. i cannot understand their ways, not really. i would say before it was easier to understand… but i think that’s wrong. i think before it was easier to turn my head away from how much it didn’t make sense to me. and now, here i am, overly frustrated at people because i cannot grasp, properly, their logic.
i just needed to get this off my chest. though i am unable to fully express my unfiltered thoughts, this is the basis. people confuse me. everyone confuses me.

Mentioned to my best friend's dad today that I started reading A Game of Thrones ('cause I'm playing a D&D game heavily inspired by it) and he was like "Why?! Why would you do that?!"
So I'm sitting there on the couch, fully expecting to get laid out for reading something with such awful and graphic content when he launches into a rant about why the hell would you start an unfinished series and then continued to rant about what happened with the Wheel of Time series
So that was fun

I don't get people. I have boundaries, as a human being and I get upset when people cross them. I get told that it's just fun, that I should learn to take a joke. But call upon the fire and brimstone to rain upon me if dare I do the same to you. Hypocrisy is confusing to me!

People who try to analyze what happened on Tumblr on November 5th, 2020, often really overstate how much it was actually “about” Supernatural. As someone who has never been in the supernatural fandom ever but dID join in on the hysterical destielposting—it was really more about the stress of the pandemic and the 2020 presidential election.
The two biggest Youtubers I’ve seen try to dissect “what happened that November 5th” in video essays both weren’t American—- and I think that explains why they both tried to explain the hysteria primarily via analyzing the Supernatural fandom/the original show, rather than through the lens of the election. And while those videos are cool, valid, informational, and make lots of really well-considered interesting points— I can tell you that me and almost all my mutuals had literally no knowledge or interest in the fact that “oh supernatural had made nods at the ship in the past but the creators were adamant that I wouldn’t be canon” or etc etc etc etc. the first time I learned about any of that context was way later, watching videos where people claimed that fandom history context (that I did not know anything about) was the actual reason for the hysteria.
But the reality is that people latched on to the Destiel stuff because it was a piece of big useless inane zero-stakes fandom news in a time when we were desperately waiting for serious high stakes election news. We were latching onto a “positive “ piece of inane stupid fandom news in a time of great stress, with all the desperation of a drowning man who latches onto whatever piece of wood will keep him afloat.
The core of the hysteria was that Americans (who make up a huge chunk of tumblr’s userbase) were currently glued to their laptops watching the live presidential election vote counts come in. These vote counts were taking an extended amount of time due to the pandemic causing high numbers of mail-in ballots, resulting in a constant state of Election Day Stress for multiple days straight.
This was also during the height of the Pandemic. People had predicted Trump’s presidency would be bad; no one had predicted it would be this apocalyptically bad. No one had predicted pandemics and lockdowns and hospitals overflowing with bodybags. remember Trump spreading Covid lies and conspiracies?? There were so many Qanon conspiracies about democrats being Satanic child traffickers who had to be put to death, and coup threats were mounting from the right wing side. It seemed like this election was a choice between ‘centrist democrat’ and “apocalyptic right wing conspiracy theory authoritarianism,” in the midst of pandemic conditions that people feared would never ever improve— and it seemed like a close election.
Another major point was that Trump voters were more likely to be antimaskers/Covid deniers, while Biden voters were more likely to take the pandemic seriously— so Biden voters were more likely to send in mail-in ballots instead of risking the in-person voting crowds, which meant their ballots would take much longer to count. And so, in many state electoral vote counts, it would initially seem like Trump was very far in the lead— only for Biden to slooooowly build up an agonizingly small lead as the mail in ballots came in, and then defeat Trump at the very end.
So you’re just watching these news sites giving live election updates, refreshing the page every 2 minutes to see if you’re going to live under a spineless centrist democrat or a literal Qanon Dictatorship. And then you go on tumblr to distract yourself, and there’s more election posting, and more agonizing over the votes, and more stress and despair—-
And then it’s been days and we’re right at the crucial tipping point where it’s anyone’s game and the next few hours will determine whether Trump will win, so you need to keep your eye on the vote count, because the next hours will determine the future of the pandemic and your country and your plans for your entire life—
And then stupid Destiel becomes canon! And it becomes canon in the silliest way possible!
If Destiel had become canon at any other time, it would have been a big goofy tumblr celebration? But we wouldn’t have gotten the insane explosion of hysterical interaction.
The entire core of it was the contrast between the inane meaningless stupidity of fandom news vs the actual stressful election news you wanted to hear! It really is best conveyed in that meme where Castiel says “I love you” and Dean indifferently responds with a piece of important election news.
It’s about the contrast between the low-stakes inanity of fandom and the massive life-destroying stakes of a terrifying election. There really was no reason it had be Supernatural specifically, except that Supernatural was a thing everyone knew basic things about from dashboard osmosis— it could’ve been any other equally huge silly fandom ship news about a ship everyone *knew of* but might not necessarily be invested in (ex. Stucky becoming canon, Johnlock becoming canon, Kirk/Spock becoming more canon somehow, etc etc etc.)
I think it’s true that people who weren’t paying agonizingly close attention to the American election news got swept up in it, and that non American Supernatural fans also were extremely excited for purely fandom reasons — but the entire reason it blew up to an unprecedented degree was because of that core of stressed out terrified Americans glued to their computers watching election results and suddenly receiving stupid fandom news instead, and deciding to just hysterically parodically hyper-celebrate this absurd useless zero-stakes news.
Tumblr media
I think it was also all elevated by the fact that, as I said before, this happened at the crucial “tipping point” of the election where the next few hours would determine the winner. The fact that Biden began to slowly develop a lead in the hours after made it feel, hysterically, as if the hours after Destiel became canon was somehow the turning point where he began to win; so celebrating Destiel felt like celebrating that slow turn towards victory.
The tl,dr is that it’s so important to Remember the Fifth of November …..in preparation the inevitable hysteria that will happen in the presidential election on November 5th of next year. XD. Personally I’m rooting for Johnlock or Frodo/Sam to somehow become canon in the eleventh hour right before the democrats win

Things Iv’e heard in the last few months that make absolutely no sense to me….
1.
“She reads too much”
You have a teen that enjoys quietly reading classics and YA novels. She doesn’t get in trouble, is respectful, is not depressed or anxious, makes good grades , and seems to have a small but healthy social circle. Let the girl read damn it.
2.
“He’s just to old for Trick or Treating. I don’t understand why he wants to go”.
The boy is ten. He wants to go with his two best friends trick or treating and then have a sleepover watching spooky movies. Completely normal ten years old behavior. Why is he ‘too old?!?’ In your mind? Do you think he’s going to be bored or rude? What’s wrong with him politely walking up to houses (that are obviously participating) with two friends and participating in a long tradition of fun?
3.
“I just don’t get why we have to accommodate them. Can’t they just move it?” “Sorry,Move what?” “Day or the Dead or Halloween or Whatever it is”
You mean De los muertos? Or Halloween?. Hallows Eve. All Saints Day. Halloween. Day of the Dead. These are not the same holidays and no you can not just move the holiday because someone doesn’t want to respect your traditions. Also many of those holidays involve religious practice and family tradition. For many people it would be just as ridiculous for you to demand they change Christmas, Easter, a birthday, or wedding anniversary.Ect. They aren’t being selfish. Maybe you should consider why you find it so unbelievably stressful to be ‘accommodating’. Especially when it doesn’t even effect you in most cases. How does their holiday negatively effect you.
4.
“Those are my children. How far you speak to them. They can do whatever they want”
No Ma’am. This is not your home. They are breaking safety regulations in this establishment. While I should not have to speak with them because you are their parent - I will if safety is at risk. I don’t want to hear you threatening to sue because Timothy-Quan or Amylee bruised their knee. Frankly I am concerned that their mom isn’t showing them a bit more attention making sure a bookshelf does not fall over on them.
5.
“You’re suppose to take care of this. Can’t you do your job?”
Ma’am this is a library. Not a daycare. I am doing my job. And I absolutely do not have to take care of it. In fact we have rules put in place that specifically state that I am not to ‘take care of it’ being watching your child for free. I have many responsibilities and so could not watch your child adequately at this time. Therefore would not agree to sit them during working hours.
6.
Them: “Can you Watch this”
Me: “No sir. I cannot.”
Them: “I’m leaving it here. So if it’s gone when I get back it’s your fault. “
Me: “Do you happened to need charging for your hearing aids sir? I’m afraid we don’t have any batteries as such but -“
Them: (walks away)
I’m just a little bewildered by the general public lately. I do not expect in anyway a child free world and at the same time I am not responsible for your children or belongings simply because we are existing in the same general vicinity from each other. I do not think it’s strange that kids and teens want to participate in behaviors very healthy and - at least in these cases rather typical behavior for their age. I’m cool as long as it’s not a behavior that is hurting themselves or others. I mostly do not care what they do. If they want to have neon orange and green striped hair and sing spooky skeletons in Russian - more power to them. Also with all the respect, where are some of you from? I live in the middle of Texas. Participation in Halloween and Day of the Dead are very common. They are not a rare celebration or tradition for many community members in the area. In fact multiple public and numerous school libraries are hosting events for each and spooky season in general. So I’m just … frankly I am once again bamboozled by people.

Why do we often time treat the dead better than the living?
You don’t speak ill of the dead? but you totally could make fun of that weirdo you saw on the street the other day?
You don’t desecrate a grave or holy grounds? but spray painting some poor guy truck is an expression of a repressed artist?
Human confuse me the dead don’t care
but that guy you were laughing at had just lost his wife and couldn’t handle the grief or had just returned from war alive but not completely whole
Or that father of five working as a truck driver to pay for his daughter’s cancer treatment that just got his wages docked because the company truck was damaged during his shift when he stopped to use the bathroom
Next time you start to do something ask yourself would you do this to someone who has died would you laugh at their suicide or draw on their grave because the two might not be as different as you think
