Numerology Life Path 9 - Your Birth Card and its Ruling Planet
Numerology Life Path Numbers and their assigned Tarot Card Meaning Series
This is a post in my new astrology/numerology/tarot series, that only concerns you, if you are a Life Path 9. Posts on consecutive Life Path Numbers will follow. Originally, I wanted to do them all in one post, but my writing turned out to be so long, I decided to split the post and seperate the Life Path Numbers. The introduction part of the post will be the same for all Life Path Numbers, in case you only read a post about your own Life Path Number, and nothing else.
Introduction The concept of a Birth Card links Tarot and Numerology together, in order to deepen our understanding of a vibration of a Life Path Number we are born with. The Birth Card, or rather Birth Cards, are Major Arcana Tarot Cards with assigned numbers, which correlate with Life Path Numbers. Understanding the meaning of tarot cards, mixed with the knowledge of Numerology Vibrations, helps create a more unique vision of your life experience. A person with any given Life Path Number, having several Major Arcana energies present in their lives, usually struggles with one of the energies more than the other. As a result, life will probably force them to focus on mastering one of these energies. In general, however, any Life Path describes both your biggest downfall and ultimate triumph - just like with an Astrology Chart, the highlighted numbers/astrology houses point to your biggest strengths and weaknesses. For a better understanding of this concept, visit my article âNatal Chart - A map of your issues?â Remember, that everyone, besides their Life Path Number and Birth Card also has a unique astrology chart. Thus, for some people embracing the higher expression of their energy is easier, for others itâs harder and it takes more time to master, and some energies become easier to deal with than others. Most human beings are somewhere in between, working on their path and having some achievements while struggling with difficulties at the same time. In the spiritual community, there are differences in opinion on linking Astrological Planets and positions to specific numerology numbers energies. My take is a result of my own personal experience, conversations with other people in my field and research, in order to give you the widest possible spectrum of ideas and increase the understanding of every Life Path Number. If you are a Master Number 11, 22 or 33, there will be a seperate post on how the Birth Cards apply to you as well. Even If you have only a basic understanding of Astrology, Tarot or Numerology, this post will still be helpful to you, because it describes the unique vibrational mix that comes from the expression of both these spiritual sciences mixed together. Life Path 9 - The Hermit and The Moon
The energies of a Life Path 9 are ruled by the dynamic energy of Mars. This Life Path's main objective in this incarnation is to find a cause to devote themselves too. This cause is what sets them apart from the crowd, but also holds them together. Without that cause, or at least being on the way to finding that cause, they feel lost and unmotivated and are very prone to getting dejected with the world around them.
The reason for why this Life Path can fall into such lows when they are not moving forward with their goals is that they gain all their wisdom, understanding and depth from taking action and being "in the field". A Life Path 9 is someone, who can get illuminated by the process of a repetitive performance of a task on the way to their goal, making them a very "hands on" learner. They possess the power to find magic and depth in the mundane. However, to access that, they must immerse themselves in finding their path first. They need the material world for contrast to start the unique alchemical process, that they have a gift for. That's why this Life Path has such a knack for social causes. They know how to upgrade the energetic vibration of a group through physical processes. That is extremely powerful in the 21st century, when we have worldwide access to international communities. A Life Path 9 in their element could be an inspiring writer or a creator, whose work moves people on a larger scale. However, to access that power, this Life Path needs to find their right direction first. That is achieved most often through trial and error. A Life Path 9 is born with a crystallised, internal idea of the energy that they want to change the world with, but they need practice to find the most optimal way to externalise their gifts and express them from an authentic place. That can also involve building a specific skill, based on their intuitive gifts, which will make them learn that skill faster than anyone in their profession, for the sake of realising a larger vision.
The shadow aspect of a Life Path 9 is in the energy of being scattered, confused, misguided, lacking illumination of their purpose or true understanding of the depth of life. This can result in feeling unmotivated even further, which then leads to various coping mechanisms, such as procrastination, distraction, escapism and unfunded expectation for the world to fix their problems for them, and when that fails, blaming the world for not giving them a helping hand from the outside. In reality, this bitterness is a reflection of their desire to manifest their own path in the world, and when they are not actively doing it, the vision of the changes they themselves could be making in the world haunts and frustrates them. Many Life Path 9s are not even aware of that process, and they experience it subconsciously, which makes them even more prone to various subliminal escapism tactics.
The other characteristic vibrational trait of the 9 is its single-minded nature. While they care about community causes and things on a grander scale, and once they find a worthy goal they take it seriously, they are inherently stubborn. That works both in their advantage and to their detriment. When they have their eye on a prize, no one can stop them from achieving their goal, but if they are stuck on an idea that is working against them, or if they have gotten themselves buried in idleness, only they can truly realign themselves back on the right path. Other people's advice won't matter much to them, and even if they are outwardly polite, they will subconsciously resist anyone's guidance but their own. They may need an external forceful pressure to consider changing their course at all.
The associated Tarot Cards help us find solutions to efficiently use the energy of this Life Path Number.
The Hermit - Related to the internally solitary nature of this Life Path, the Hermit isolates himself from the whole world in order to find his truth and deepen his connection to the Source, the Universe Itself. This points out, that when in doubt the tactic for a Life Path 9 is to find answers in solitude, by using a spiritual practice that reconnects them to the voice within, mixed with trial and error. The Hermit is also a wise, old figure, which shows that for a Life Path 9 a lot of time, patience and mental effort is often necessary to be able to find their path. At its peak, this Tarot card shows a mature energy of a Life Path 9 becoming a beacon of wisdom for others, who come to them to seek counsel in times of trial, just like those seeking enlightenment look for the Hermit in his abode.
The Moon - Points to both the natural instinct, that this Life Path is so strong in, but also the element of confusion and the overwhelming sensations that can feel like a maze with no exit. However, opposites attract, and a Life Path 9 is the one capable of harnessing the energy of the Moon Tarot card by seeing a straight, clear path through the murky waters. This Tarot card points to this Life Path's ability to find the light in the deepest darkness.
The Key Word for a Life Path 9 is Direction. This Life Path's destiny is to apply direction and wisdom (The Hermit) through uncertainty and overwhelming confusion of life (Moon) by finding a path in the darkness. A Life Path 9 in a higher state of evolution knows exactly where they are going, and what is their purpose for choosing this specific path to follow. This approach is applied in all areas of life, relationships, choice of work field, time management in their daily life. Once they are in the flow, a Life Path 9 knows how to follow their objective like nobody else, if they have genuine passion for it, set their mind on it and stay on course. This Life Path illuminates the way of the true Spiritual Warrior, always walking ahead, passionate and forever faithful to his calling.

thoughts on taylor swift's reputation (her actual reputation not the album) and the way it influences how people talk about her music
Okay so first off I have to say that I have joined the fandom as a German teenager in 2015, so I have observed everything that happened pre-1989 from a perspective of hindsight and "oh maybe her publicist sucked ass". The reason I am saying that is because I think the way she was presented to the world at the beginning of her career is still negatively impacting her to this day, but I personally wasn't there to observe it so my statements on the matter may be somewhat incorrect. Plus: This is all rather subjective and based on the version of Taylor I have in my mind, based on what I have seen from her and what I WANT to see from her.
Unlike some people in the fandom, I don't find Taylor to be very calculating. Yes, she knows what she wants and she is a very smart business woman, but from what I have seen, she isn't able to create a public alter ego for herself that fully embodies what she wants to be in that part of her life (we have to remember she was in her twenties and still finding herself) â I think the "cool popstar" persona she was playing around with in the 1989 era best examplifies that: Underneath all that NYC girl performance there still was the same weird girl from Nashville that had made weirdness and vulnerability her selling point in the early days of her career. Taylor entered what I once referred to as "the uncanney valley of popstar-ism": People subconsciously knew that she was putting on an act, and claimed that her kindness or humor were fake, when it actually was the way she used them to seem cool and fun. Taylor isn't very "cool". She is weird and easily excited and over-the-top with her feelings and that is what usually makes her so likeable, but all of these things are also what made people not take her seriously when she started out (see her 2009 Rolling Stone profile) and what made them dislike her: Quirky Teenage girls aren't universally beloved. Add to that the fact that she was dating the Hollywood heartthrobs of the time and often wasn't very nice to them in songs, which they they deserved, but their fans didn't take well; and a publicist that was riding on that "boy-crazy virgin" train, and you've got yourself a recipe for public humiliation. Not to mention her weak vocal performances at some events and, rather recently, her statements on politics that range from "Very good" to "Taylor why are you only talking about stuff that impacts you".
With so much hate coming from all sides, the quality of her music or her writing doesn't matter much to many. I'd argue that her tendency to write pop songs with the intention of having them be hits and sacrificing her lyrical chops in order to do that doesn't help her case. But she always wanted to be a pop girl and write hits so honestly? Good for her!
I think Miss Americana and the release of folklore and evermore, as well as her being very closed off about her private life has made people easier on her and appreciate her art more, that also is at a high it hasn't reached since, in my opinion, RED. Taylor seems more comfortable with who she is now and doesn't try to be full cool pop star anymore, and I think people like that. She obviously still isn't her fully authentic self in front of cameras â and celebrities don't owe us that at all â but there is a sense of self-assurance that wasn't there before. Plus, her art has become less autobiographical, which allows a seperation between her and her work, and as much as I like Taylor, sometimes that is a good thing.

Art History Week 6: Performance and Installation Art
Chosen subject, Cold Dark Matter: An exploded viewÂ
                           By Cornelia Parker 1991
This week we have been looking at performance and installation art. For this weeks assignment I have chosen the latter and will be writing about the above Installation work by Cornelia Parker. The main focus of our research this week is to understand and contemplate the significance of the artwork to be in an Installation form.Â
An exploded view was created in 1991. A time where the Cold war came to an end after 44 years, the beginnings of what would known as the Gulf War occurred, an attack was made on 10 Downing Street by the Provisional Irish Rebuplican Army blowing in all the windows of the cabinet room and when, in the February of 1991 there were the bombings of the Victoria and Paddington train stations. Bombs and explosions were not uncommon events in these times and although Parker had always wanted to explore the artistry of explosion and made several mini wooden explosions in her previous work, the events of that time could well have been an influence.Â
The installation above is an exploded garden shed with its contents in a freeze frame state, suspended from a wire mesh frame. The explosion itself was conducted by the British Army. The multiple fragments of the shed and its contents are suspended in the arrangement they would be in in that split second mid explosion. Amongst the contents of broken bits and bobs there is one singular, solid almost untouched object...the lightbulb, that is switched on and hung in the centre of the installation. Perhaps signifying the original source of the explosion? The result of this one source of central light is the casting of immense shadows surrounding the entire artwork which not only exaggerates and extends the piece itself but also allows for some of the objects inside to be seen more clearly, albeit in a shadowy form.
At a glance it can almost be seen as two seperate pieces of art; the installation itself and the shadows which suggest an abstract like black and white background image.Â
The contents of the shed are as integral to the work as the shed itself, if not more so. The idea being that a regular garden shed is almost like an Aladdins cave of past memories, treasures, junk and stored items the owner can't quite muster up the courage to dispose of entirely. A closer look will reveal objects such as bicycle wheels, wellie boots, hand tools, tennis rackets and what appears to be bellows for a fireplace.Â
I believe Parker's intention was to capture and recreate this moment in time that would normally be over within a split second of a second so as to the naked eye is almost invisible. Parker allows this microsecond to be explored and observed timelessly. It also allows for what is, in life, chaotic and deafening and alarming or even frightening to be still and quiet and allowed to be contemplated.Â
This artwork would not have worked as well in any other format other than installation. With it as an installation, the viewer is able to see all the nooks and crannies and areas of the actual subject matter that would have been hidden in other types of art. Even though installation is a type of sculpture, trying to recreate this in a more traditional sculptural way would have taken away the authenticity of the piece that is apparent in the use of the original items and materials.Â
The underlying interpretations of this work could provoke thoughts of childhood memories, traditionally related to a father figure with the use of a shed, that are forever there in our minds. Even though the main structure of the memories are broken, singed, tainted, distorted like the results of an explosion, there are still key fragments that will remind you of those memories and that are visibly recognizable just like the contents of Parkers shed.Â
It can be ultimately interpreted as savouring each microsecond of life. Stop, pause, reflect and contemplate before that microsecond is over. Which in real life is not truly possible yet Parkers work in her installation allows you to consider those split second moments that would otherwise never be recognised.Â

Client Studies 2020/2021
Part three: Reflection
PERSONAL EXPERIENCE
Perhaps the biggest thing I have learnt about and developed during this module is my confidence in my ability.
At the start of this module, I really didn't think that what I did was good enough or I was afraid that I wouldn't be capable of producing something good enough for a client if I was able to get an opportunity. This is definetly the thing that has held me back the most. I felt rediculously ill prepared to approach clietns, becuase I was, But I couldn't bring myself to take the chance on opportunities even if I was slightly less experienced, which is a shame. My lack of experience was frightening me, I felt like I was at a disadvantage, and as a result I was reluctant to try, which looking back was probably my biggest weakness. The only way I would have ever known how to present myself professionally and talk to clients or have confidence in myself, would be to do it and learn as I gain the experience.
One of the benefits I gained from this module that I have already begun to apply to my practice, is being able to seperate my personal illustration from what will get me paid in the future. There is a time and a place for certain themes and characters, as well as ways of working. Before I was very commited to traditional ways of producing work. I felt that digital art was almost a cop out, this module has also made me more aware or how limited I could make my opportunities if I hadn't embraced digital methods of working. I realised that modern illustration is thriving digitally, that is where most of these opportunities are sprouting from and especially in the midst of COVID-19 working online is going to be one of the most secure ways of finding paid opportunities.
Just like learning to seperate my themes and conent, I am now able to seperate more traditional, even fine art methods and keep those for my personal practice. This way I have also found new enjoyment in these practices, it is not so much a scenario of takin a break from my work by doing the same thing and just calling it relaxing. By aiming my digital work towards my professional illustration and my traditional work for me, I am able to create a space that still allows art to be rewarding and fun.
Since getting my ipad, I have really thrived digitally, I really never thought I would see the day I thought so, but I actually enjoy it. Procreate especially has allowed be to just expand my style and ideas in ways I have always wanted to and I am already begining to gain confidence in my style of working and confience that what I am producing is good enough for clients and is reaching a professional standard. Its versatility is a lot of fun and I am glad I made the jump, the ipad has really transformed my attitude towards the method of working and has turned something I dreaded doing, to something that is almost second nature.
Going forward, I realise that confidence is important, but what is the most crutial element of illustration for me is enjoyment. If I am constantly worried about getting work or pleasing people to an extent that is detrimental to my state of mind, I will never perform to my best ability. If I always worry about the end product, then I will never have the time to make the work itself the best it can be. To really be enthralled and engaged with the process of creation is what this module has brought out in me. By doing this I will be putting more energy into what I am making, which will resultantly produce better more authentic work, which will in tern attract and please clients and companies and that will lead to work opportunities.

Numerology Life Path 1 - Your Birth Card and its Ruling Planet
Numerology Life Path Numbers and their assigned Tarot Card Meaning Series
This is the first post in my astrology/numerology/tarot series, that only concerns you, if you are a Life Path 1.
Introduction  Â
The concept of a Birth Card links Tarot and Numerology together, in order to deepen our understanding of a vibration of a Life Path Number we are born with.
For a better understanding of this concept, visit my article âNatal Chart - A map of your issues?â
Remember, that everyone, besides their Life Path Number and Birth Card also has a unique astrology chart. Thus, for some people embracing the higher expression of their energy is easier, for others itâs harder and it takes more time to master, and some energies become easier to deal with than others. Most human beings are somewhere in between, working on their path and having some achievements while struggling with difficulties at the same timeÂ
If you are a Master Number 11, 22 or 33, there will be a seperate post on how the Birth Cards apply to you as well.Â
Even If you have only a basic understanding of Astrology, Tarot or Numerology, this post will still be helpful to you, because it describes the unique vibrational mix that comes from the expression of both these spiritual sciences mixed together. To calculate which Tarot Cards and what Life Path correspond to your birthday, click here.
Life Path 1 - The Wheel of Fortune, the Sun and the MagicianÂ
One of the biggest struggles of a Life Path 1 is their need to release control patterns, and instead channel them into direction and embrace their own unique path through allowing themselves to be different and authentic. This requires these people to accept an element of faith in their lives, because as a pioneer, they wonât have any easy, familiar, logical guidelines or role models to follow. They have to learn how to identify, trust and listen to and follow their inner voice. That intuitive voice then leads them to a creative manifestation of their life path, as they become a trendsetter, leader and guide for others. Faith in their case means believing in themselves and their path, even if they canât see a precise outline, and even if they have noone to validate their vision.Â
Being born with this life path brings with it issues of the opposite nature to its purpose, before these natives manage to step into their unique creative or leadership position. These people may face rejection, ostracism and lack of acceptance for who they are, they may be rejected for not fitting in, for being âdifferentâ and misunderstood, starting with their family circle. This brings out the shadow side of the life path 1, which is practicing control, conformism and people pleasing, while they close off their heart and hide away from following their path. This can happen especially if they carry lingering intense trauma from all the rejection and possible abandonment they faced early on in their lives. Difficult situations can lead a Life Path 1 to adopt a coping strategy - while they people-please on the surface, they maintain tight, even repressive control underneath, which creates internal emotional blockages that result in selfishness, self centeredness, lack of openness and nervous tension.Â
As much as these behaviors come from a place of suffering, the illusion of people pleasing that an unhappy Life Path 1 can create can have little to do with actual caring for others or forming bonds, since it is performed out of a need for self protection, not out of love. A hurt life Path 1 succumbs to a false belief, that the world is against them, and that everyone only cares for themselves. As a result, their emotional unavailability can create a high level of internalised loneliness due to icing out or hurting those, who actually care for them. Yet, even a suffering version of a Life Path 1, despite their individualistic streak deeply craves people validating their mission in this lifetime. If not worked on, this internal emotional blockage can stop these people from blossoming and stepping into their authentic role.Â
To look into the ultimate expression that can be performed by a Life Path 1, we look at the assigned Tarot Birth Cards.Â
The Magician - Being the Number 1 in Tarot, the Magician pertains to this Life Path having an ability to create and manifest their own, individual unique path, without needing to follow others, but rather inspiring others to follow them. The Magician being linked to the ultimate manifestation skill, does so easily because he trusts his gut instinct, and the path simply appears right in front of his eyes due to his own instantaneous, energetic creation. For better or for worse, Life Path 1s have that power, whether they realise it or not. Being such skillful manifestors, they can use it either to build, or to attract and recreate painful events, as long as itâs necessary for them to heal. This points to an essential question every Life Path 1 should ask themselves on the daily - what inside me has created this outcome? Which one of my internal decisions and emotional reactions has resulted in this situation? How did I subconsciously manifest this outcome? Life Path 1s are living proof, of how each and every one of us is an architect of our energetic reality, and how we always have a possibility to manifest a new beginning. A Life Path 1 that embraced this skill is someone, who effortlessly wields their creation power as an art of living.Â
The Wheel of Fortune - This card points to the necessity for this Life Path to be able to learn how to handle lifeâs unpredictable situations, and not lose themselves in their false coping control mechanisms as a result of the shock. The Wheel of Fortune is a card of Fate, a card of sudden, unexpected events, that we have no influence over, but also the card of hopeful new beginnings, the understanding, that even the most dire situation can turn around. This card shows us, that the Universe is a balancing force, that works towards harmony by intervening in necessary moments, no matter how unpleasant these changes may seem to us, and that we canât know, plan or influence everything with our limited perspective. This card is a projection of the internal faith, that a Life Path 1 must preserve in order to continue on their path with limited external support. The Wheel of Fortune shows us, that we need to surrender to the events happening around us, try to understand the meaning behind them, and make the most out of them. This also links to the Magician ability of creating something substantial even in the most difficult circumstances. These are all important lessons for a Life Path 1, that can resist certain events, if it feels they happened outside of their pre-approved plan. However, a matured Life Path 1 views these twists and turns of faith as new opportunities, that allow them to go even further and achieve more in life, because they know sometimes a shake-up is a wake up call.
The Sun - Teaches the Life Path 1 individual, how to embrace the carefree, free-spirited nature of this Tarot Card. This is necessary, in order to be able to breeze through life and not stop in oneâs pursuit, even in the face of external disapproval. Number 1 is also ruled by the Sun astrologically, especially the positive, warming, leadership aspect, that makes people feel cared for in its own, unique way. This describes the role, that a Life Path 1 can have in their community, when they communicate with it from an authentic, open heart space. The key here is honesty with oneself and uninhibited self expression.
Being such an individualistic life path, in Number 1 there is a level of solitary, internal work that always needs to be done, even if itâs performed in response to someone elseâs advice or support. The struggle here is mostly internal, as it is a constant battle of being able to have clarity of vision, a fight for how things âshould beâ and a challenge of embracing how things actually are. As they grow older, Life Path 1s gain understanding, that most of the guidelines they lived by are false mechanisms, adopted from an early environment that was constantly trying to constrict their internal growth. When they mature, they let these restrictions go, and unapologetically follow the calling of their soul.
The path of being a pioneer is an uncharted territory, a battle through obstacles, that does however bring an ultimate victory, if one embraces the challenges and powers through them. All pioneers are call madmen, before they are called geniuses.

Year 1 - Semester B - Week 3
February 10th - February 16th 2020
A Performer Prepares
Scandinavia
In this lecture, we looked at the 3 countries within Scandinavia:Â
Norway
Sweden
Finland
We started by looking at the Sami People, which are the most Northern minority tribe. (60-100k Sami people living in Scandinavia)
Sami Music is usually made up of a Yoik. Yoiks are something you can only do, you cannot Yoik at someone or about something which is how it was described. (Still very confused about that)
Yoiks are used for many things within their culture including making holographic images in your mind, a way for Shamans to communicate between worlds and calming Reindeer.
Technically a Yoik is made up of:
A Circular Structure like the Seasonal Cycle
Careful Breath Control
Very Specific Timbre
Large / Small Intervals
Glissando and Vocal Techniques (Usually hard to accompany)
More recently the Yoik has been modernised by Nils-Aslak Valkeapää, see example below:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rPaaUa3Aiek
The second type of music we looked at was Kulning which is a Sweedish Ancient Herding Call. The Kulning is mainly performed by women in fields (Fäbod) to call the cattle home in the evening. This kind of music is built up of High Pitched (Ca. 800-1300Hz) syllables instead of words, without Vibrato.
Next, we looked into the instruments of each country starting with Norway.
In Norway, the instrument we looked at was the Hardanger Fiddle (1872) which is known as the National Instrument of Norway. This is a very decorated version of the standard fiddles seen in Western culture. Theyâre made up of 8 string with the 4 original strings and 4 extra strings (Sympathetic Strings) below them to create a resonance. It also has a flat fingerboard to allow 2 strings to be played at once easier which is common within Folk music. This instrument inspired the First Hardinger Fiddle contest in 1888 (in the place of origin, Telemark).
The instrument is most common in Folk Dance Music: Slütt. The types of Slütt include Springar (3/4) and Gangar (2/4 or 6/8). The type of Slütt we looked at was the Halling dance which is a vigorous Norwegian Folk Dance for Couples as a courting dance. It is often used for men to show off their strength and grace. Composer: Edward Grieg was influenced by this instrument and recreated the songs for Piano. One of these compositions being Røtnamsknut Op.72.
For Sweeden, we looked at the Nyckelharpa which is a 14th-century key and string instrument from the Hurdy Gurdy family. Itâs made up of 3 main strings, 1 drone string and 12 resonant strings along with 37 wooden keys. Other instruments that are common in Sweedish Folk include the Fiddle, Sackpipa (Sweedish Bagpipes), Accordion and SälgflĂśjt (Willow Flute).
Lastly onto Finland where the main instrument is known as the Small Kantele which is made up of 5-15 horsehair strings tightly wound around each other. This instrument then developed into the Concert Kantele which now has up to 40 strings which is much larger than the original and alike the Harp has switch mechanisms for playing Sharps and Flats.
A History of Popular Music
Politics, Protest and Popular Song
The first 2 songs that we looked at when listening to Protest Music were two that were really subtle pieces by Randy Newman who was the composer of all the Toy Story films.
Sail Away + Putin
Sail Away sounds like a very sweet, string orchestrated song sang by a very soothing voice. If you didnât pay attention to the lyrics this could be a cute anthemic song for America but when looking into the lyrics you can find a much darker meaning than what was originally heard.
This song, unlike itâs perceived meaning, is from the perspective of Slave Drivers promising the American Slaves that they will have a better life on the other side and ignoring everything that will happen to them in the future
( In America you'll get food to eat Won't have to run through the jungle And scuff up your feet ) - Insinuating that their life will be much easier for them You'll just (sing about Jesus) and drink wine all day - Pushing religion on to the Africans to assert their dominance It's great to be an American
( Ain't no lions or tigers ain't no mamba snake ) Just the(sweet watermelon) and the buckwheat cake - Watermelon Smile is a slur used towards Black Americanâs Everybody is as happy as a man can be Climb aboard little wog sail away with me        We will (cross the mighty ocean into Charleston Bay) - Charleston Bay is where the slaves would be taken to from America Sail away-sail away We will cross the mighty ocean into Charleston Bay
(In America every man is free To take care of his home and his family) - Itâs a fake promise towards the Slaves that they wouldnât be seperated from their families when they arrived You'll be as (happy as a monkey in a monkey tree) - Another Slur towards Black Americans
(You're all gonna be an American) - Theyâll have no choice as they were taken by force
Sail away sail away We will cross the mighty ocean into Charleston Bay Sail away-sail away We will cross the mighty ocean into Charleston Bay
Guitar Tuition
Time - Loop Arrangement
In the Guitar lesson, I had on Monday we looked at my APP - Solo Performance and my plan for what that would look like and include.
So far my overall plan is to first figure out what my theme would be called as it is only Originals and so far my only idea is âAuthentically Meâ. My plan is to try fit 4 songs into my 15-minute plan but that will be based on how long my two most important tracks (looped) Time and Alice will be. My hope is to have the order be:
(TBC)
Alice (Looped)
(TBC)
Time (Looped)
I am thinking as for the scenery I would really like it to be an intimate setting with the blinds closed and a soft Orange / Yellow lighting as all of my songs are very emotional.

Video
youtube
garland / uploadedÂ
i realised i couldnt upload the file to vimeo bc it was 25 minutes long and thats just ... not happening with my free account so youtube it is B-) . i was going to make it super sped up but i feel the tenderness and attention to detail is a core part of the work so i decided to only trim it to 11 minutes which is still a considerable amount of time as the actions are very slow. there are some shots that are fleeting and meant to be harder to grasp, embodying the parts of girlhood that happen in the blink of an eye, the damage that can be done in only a few seconds.Â
this is the first instalment ?[i think] of the greater series responding to the notion/tumblr post [haha]Â âbeing a girl feels like non-consensual performance artâ. i am aiming to explore girlhood and my experience of it, and to hopefully be aware that this is only my experience and does not try to be a representation of girlhood as a whole as that is something so ever expanding and impossible to capture wholly and accurately.Â
i have been thinking about this video series a lot and rolling the concept around my head over and over again, not really sure if i am anywhere yet but im getting my bearings. my experience of girlhood has been very influenced by the way i have idolised and worshipped certain musicians and other people. i have felt like this was my original religion, the precursor to why i so deeply need to investigate the themes of worship, the divine and inner spirituality now. adoring artists of all forms has been and continues to be a way of connection and wanting to strive towards something higher and more valuable than the individual self. i also have the tendency to overly romanticise people/places/ideas in order to feel more in love with the world and existence counteracting harsh existentialism/as well as fuelling that gorgeous feeling in my body of ACHING for love and all things wonderfully pleasant. (any who that is relating to another video work(s?) that i am going to create)Â
why do i feel like i need to create this content that seems a bit seperate from the idea of creating my own religion for personal solace/healing and the hopes that it may encourage viewers to explore their own spirituality freely. i feel like this way of existing and thinking and believing is the prequel to why i am interested in my current practicesâ themes. it was / is extremely ritualistic and alike to the way people devote themselves to an idea or person that they dont truly understand or know, blind faith is true comfort. i also believe i do it because still in this era teenage girls/young women are still being constructed by people who are NOT teenage girls/young women. still being portrayed as these fictional characters that are here for the pleasure of anyone but themselves. i think we are partially complicit in these expressions but only because we feel as if we must adapt and mould ourselves around these ideas in order to be SEEN and heard. maybe im exaggerating. i just still feel as if the teenage girl experience is sneered and brushed aside, it isnt seen as valid or as powerful as it is. it is HUGE and so so so ? important. i would love to collaborate with all sorts of women/people who have experienced girlhood and to just create videos and share with everyone what the fuck happened and how it was INSANE and the most special thing in the world. probably been done a million times before but i feel like it needs to keep happening forever as the social and political landscape changes too.Â
this particular work references to the ritualistic aspects of being a girl and how something so authentic can appear performed/staged. my body doesnt look particularly animated or theatrical thus performative but i feel as if as soon as something leaves the private realm and enters the public it is a way of acting a role, being a certain way, holding yourself in a certain posture. as i prune and prepare the roses to be tied together, an air of contemplation and self-awareness is made. the slow, thought out actions build up and lead to a very small success. by filming this chore-like activity i invite the audience into my private life, my domestic realm, i want them to see me as a caring, patient character. i am engaging in a frivolous folly, i am engaging with accepted beauty, because i want to and choose to. but there are so many implications as a female doing anything. i suppose this series is at its core going to be about how i wish i could just BE. without overthinking all the ways i present myself and how i want to avoid certain interactions and how i want to look like this so people treat me like this. huge things. lots of things to keep thinking about.Â

Sonic Picks 20 Iku: Fugue: Some Temporal Patterns Other Than the Forward March (2017) Reviewed format: Digital Album on Genot Centre I'm continuing my series of Genot Centre reviews as part of Sonic Picks with this short 2017 album by Iku titled Fugue: Some Temporal Patterns Other Than the Forward March. At 26 minutes the album has a rather quick pace, packing 8 tracks over the two sides of the cassette tape and in the case of the version I'm reviewing , two tracks. As the description on Bandcamp says, the album is a kind of sonification of watching a teenager live her life in her bedroom, sometimes playing guitar and the music on this album has a rather calm but also sometimes subtly tense and mysterious ambience to it, using various layers of sound and melody but keeping a clear seperation in the mix. The Digital Album comes with the album cover in good resolution as well as the full album spread over two audio tracks, Fugue Side A and Fugue Side B, these are in 24-bit/44.1kHz high resolution sound quality. Now onto the music. The album starts with Fugue Side A, which begins with a very gorgeous and ethereal ambience of pitched vocal samples and lush pads after which a bitcrushed glassy instrument comes in and the music unfolds and progresses into various directions. Indeed the music on both tracks on this album smoothly fades from one part to another smoothly like impressions and memories in the mind fading into eachother. Everything placed in this mid size room, the short reverb of which adds authenticity to the "teenage bedroom" setting and gives the music a kind of live performance feel to it too. The impressions I get from this music is that it describes an arty teenage girl living through regular daily life who sometimes gets lost into guitar improvisations or covers from songs she likes, with the more abstract tense sections in the music representing inner struggles or bad memories she has. Field recordings add details of the girl's lifestyle while the manipulated guitar melodies add a fragmented, sometimes hazy distorted vibe of melancholy to the music. In the second half the guitar gets into nicely fuzzy territory with plenty of reverb, creating a deep atmosphere accompanied by field recordings and various mechanic and reversed glassy sounds. This section movies into a part that is hilarious in a pretty absurd manner and starts with this samples from a man shouting "no" dramatically like being attacked, as well as what sounds like police communication as well as tasteful deep pads and quirky high pitched percussive synth patterns. Sounds like what could be a TV series that the teenage girl watches and then gets blended in with tense bad memories of her own, surreal ambience in here. Then we move to Fugue Side B which starts with a fuzzy filtered lo-fi atmosphere full of richly texture pads but also strange down pitched breathing sounds, a bit like the girl woke up on Saturday and is still feeling tired, in half-sleep, yawning and walking slowly downstairs while sleep almost overtakes her awake state again. This moves into a mellow introspective part featuring soft electri guitar, more breathing sounds as well as chopped up female vocals, the climax of which features heavily stuttering droning female vocals which desolves into an interesting Christina Aguilera song cover. Quite appropriate too, if the teenage girl likes to listen and cover hit pop songs. The cover only lasts for a short time however and then dissolves into a fuzzy but also poppy simple guitar melody backed by various distorted clangs (subtle Indutrial vibe in here, excellent). This part then crossfades into a saturated high bleepy synth pattern backed by bit-crushed voice samples and resonant shifting distorted tones which then gets into an unexpected cover of House Of Cards by Radiohead backed by subtle synth percussion, deep pads and various touches of bitcrushed sounds and jangly synths as well as delay effects and field recordings. Very ethereal sounding. This parts ends the album on a rather peaceful note, but I definitely look forward to listening to more music by Iku after this, because at such a short playing time this album still packs a lot of great compositions and sonic manipulation that convincingly translate the concept behind this into music. Fugue: Some Temporal Patterns Other Than the Forward March by Iku is a short but gorgeous and immersive album of experimental ambient music combined with sound collage elements that quite imaginatively puts the activities and thoughts of a teenage girl in her bedroom into music. The music has many layers and details in it while also still staying lush and atmospheric and generally rather accessible too. It's a great album to start with for people new to Iku's music as well as any fans of Iku or listeners looking for free form atmospheric experimental music with more electro-acoustic and song elements in it. Recommended album. Digital Album is available from the Genot Centre Bandcamp page here: https://genot.bandcamp.com/album/fugue-some-temporal-patterns-other-than-the-forward-march

Bitcoin Wallet Windows
The need to help use an official pocket the fact that comes right from this Bitcoin circle itself is especially notable for brand spanking new cryptocurrency users. New cryptocurrency customers are looking for that consistency and trust component that can only come having using official means throughout order to keep their own Bitcoins safe, secure in addition to away from the prying eyes of vicious parties. Whilst it is not frequently recommended, such a remedy will exist in the form of Bitcoin Central Pocket, which lets people preserve their Bitcoin safe and sound by means of a software that was initially developed and functions like the main threshold to help the Bitcoin blockchain. Usually termed as the official wallet for Bitcoin, the Bitcoin Core Pocket book is part of the authentic implementation with the Bitcoin computer software, which possessed been developed by the originator associated with Bitcoin, Satoshi Nakamoto. On the other hand, while the Bitcoin Key Wallet remains the very first setup for any cryptocurrency wallet, it has the setup together with pertinent functions ask intended for the fulfilment of some prerequisites and technical know-how which in turn some users could not really be able to finish. Consequently , in order intended for new and even outdated users learn about that complex wallet in the comprehensive manner, we possess put together an extensive manual that talks about it has the history, its attributes, its security capabilities as properly as it is ease regarding use. So without virtually any delay, lets go in advance and start learning about Bitcoin Core Finances, the official pocket book of the Bitcoin blockchain. Record of Bitcoin Key Pocket Before you know more about typically the Bitcoin Core Wallet and start doing preparations to go and download it for on your own, there is one thing of which you might like to help find out first: the Bitcoin Primary Wallet is not really the standalone application but a smaller part of some sort of blockchain rendering software program. An individual may think of this while installing some sort of package connected with applications on your own personal device. In case you only desire to use one connected with the programs available within all the promotions, anyone would need to put in the total suite in purchase to get your hands and fingers on that one wanted application. That said ,, the blockchain software program setup for Bitcoin in itself may possibly come in handy if you would like to dabble in technical uses regarding the idea. Originally named as just Bitcoin, the software program rendering for Bitcoins blockchain system was later renamed for you to Bitcoin Core for you to steer clear of any confusion originating simply by having a brand related for the cryptocurrency by itself. Bitcoin Central had first come to the top in January 2009, as soon as Satoshi Nakamoto unveiled the online currency that has now changed the lives connected with hundreds of thousands of people and brought the particular blockchain technology to light for this revolutionary innovation to influence future years. Right from the start out, the Bitcoin Main software program was intended to end up being the transaction confirmation engine that will connected customers using the Bitcoin blockchain in addition to turned their personal computer in a full node the fact that remained operable around the system. A cryptocurrency pocket book intended for Bitcoin was particularly execution by default. While this Bitcoin Core client was actually only available intended for Windows, soon after numerous updates and advancements, it last but not least got to the stage where it is implementation was accessible for different operating systems such because Linux and Mac. Numerous different features pertaining to help the blockchains operations were being added in in order to Bitcoin Central along the best way, which have all been gathered around its latest release on version 0. 16. zero, which was released in February 26, 2018. Having said that, even with Bitcoin Wallet Windows of it is capabilities, this numerous attributes which come together for you to make the Bitcoin Core customer an overall manufacturing powerhouse are not necessarily available in their standalone edition. They were certainly not intended to be supplied individually in typically the first place. That is definitely exactly why, when you think of making use of Bitcoin Core Pocket, you can separate that assumed by having to make use of Bitcoin Center. If a person are to employ typically the Bitcoin Core Wallet, you will need to use the Bitcoin Primary application in order to pass through the setup and use the pocket on its own. Bitcoin Core Wallet Assessment: What Does Bitcoin Core Wallet Do? Bitcoin Core Pocket book is readily available within the Bitcoin Central software both as some sort of graphical user interface (GUI) or perhaps through command brand prompts in order to be able to provide users the potential of accessing their Bitcoins through their preferred method. Since the Bitcoin Main Pocket is built within the blockchain implementation alone, users could rest given the assurance in the fact of which their very own funds remain very secured through the safety and reliability of blockchain technology. Using the capability to be able to create intricate seed products key phrases to access the a digital assets in the 1st place, the Bitcoin Main Wallet remains inexplicable in order to malicious hacking plus breaching attempts. The GUI involving the Bitcoin Core computer software remains especially prevalent in the Bitcoin Core Wallet, wherever users can easily choose their own private key/passwords/security key phrases only by means of navigating by the thoroughly clean user interface. Bitcoin Core Finances is definitely not only meant to keep users funds safe, but it also will allow them to send plus receive funds simply by way of a native wallet tackle. With the newer capabilities which have been introduced in often the wallet together with full Seperated Witness (SegWit) support, deals performed through the pocket include the ability to be performed faster and along with a cheaper deal price. Users are furthermore ready to set their deal fee through the pocket if sending Bitcoin in order to another pocket book address, plus the system makes sure the fact that it provides near-accurate approbation through the Bitcoin Main Finances interface. The Bitcoin Main Wallet likewise makes it possible for customers to save other wallet contact information to this users information to make sure they perform certainly not have to enter in long and intricate tackles into the address rod any time they have to send money to be able to an individual who they generally shell out through Bitcoins. This familiar information about these tackles also remains confidential and is particularly only accessible to the own owner of every Bitcoin Central Wallet. Along with all these functions, Bitcoin Core Wallet likewise provides a backup choice to be able to its users, where they will can preserve their pocket information in the sole file if they actually lose usage of their product or perhaps need to migrate to or accessibility another unit. This way, customers carry out not have to get through the hassle associated with transferring their funds from their Bitcoin Core Finances to another provider in case they will ever improve or replace the device on which the Bitcoin Key client is set upward. Total, as a standalone application, Bitcoin Core Wallet provides all what you would expect from a high-level cryptocurrency wallet: huge protection, ease of employ, and high convenience. Even so, here comes the simple fact associated with the Bitcoin Core Finances not being a showering app but a small part of a sizable blockchain implementation client, which is in which the offerings get that dreaded conditions apply asterisk attached to them. The best way to Setup THE Bitcoin Central Wallet? Setting up the particular wallet on your personal computer or notebook computer is not something that could possibly be done in a matter of minutes or even hours, since you will not really just be getting a good small fragment of program in terms of Bitcoin Core Wallet nevertheless will certainly actually have to down load and setup the Bitcoin Core implementation the industry accomplishment in itself. Putting in Bitcoin Core on your own product is equivalent to getting often the whole blockchains data on it in order intended for it to be synced with all of often the updated records just before the implementation could come to be well-designed. That is exactly why, when you decide to go for Bitcoin Key Wallet as your own personal primary wallet to carry your Bitcoins in, you can't just need to continue to keep an open thoughts throughout the setup, nevertheless would need to have ample space with your hard drive in obtain for Bitcoin Key in order to even start working. The particular Bitcoin Core client has seen many upgrades since its first implementation, and that is at present available in order to download the following. It requires more than 145 GIGABITE of disk space to help set up and be operable. Furthermore, the consumer will also need regular updates in order to be able to stay informed with typically the Bitcoin blockchain. Various other program needs to run Bitcoin Core are for typically the customer to have the competent motherboard : together with if they have the GPU start, then it just the actual experience better. The pc as well as notebook computer running Bitcoin Core as well needs to have at the least 2 GIGABYTE of RAM, which would mostly turn out to be consumed by way of the software when the idea runs. This specific also converts towards the customer to have an web interconnection with a substantial speed and endless info plan, since working Bitcoin Core can take bandwidth sooner and more rapidly as compared to most of the additional finances applications, which once again is really because it is definitely not just a wallet use but is the implementation of the whole blockchain throughout itself. The moment you have ensured that you have the machine and world wide web competent enough to run Bitcoin Primary without just about any issues in satisfying it is requirements, you may squeeze Bitcoin Core setup to perform. The initial setup can take at a couple involving days to some sort of few days or even more now, depending on the acceleration of Internet that a person have and if this is being shared simply by some other devices or applications. After Bitcoin Core completes its initial setup, a person may go ahead together with start to create often the Bitcoin Core Pocket book by it. Once again, the idea is prudent to recall that you are not necessarily just partial to jogging Bitcoin Key Wallet by way of Bitcoin Major, but also can delve straight into running a full node on the Bitcoin networking you will still do not have got to use your Bitcoin Key Wallet. You are able to look in verifying other orders by way of trying your hands on Bitcoin mining as properly but only accomplish so if you have a new technique to support mining or prospecting procedures, as running Bitcoin Key for mining about daily machines can flame up all of them up pretty quick. Even so, since the objective of this guide is to find out more about Bitcoin Central Wallet, lets focus on of which element again. Like described earlier, setting up Bitcoin Core Wallet through often the GUI is easy, and even you would not have to have any knowledge of coding dialects in order to help create your private main and have a operating pocket book for yourself. Almost all of the selections can be laid out and can certainly be seen with virtually no concerns. All that you may need to do to have your Bitcoin Core Pocket book up and running is to set up the security options, create your budget addresses, and this is the idea. You can now deposit Bitcoin in your fresh Bitcoin Core Budget and even start making outgoing purchases as well. Nevertheless, since almost all transactions on the Bitcoin multilevel are published publicly with all the users address and the sum of which has been transacted, almost any transactions made through Bitcoin Core Finances follow the same approach. Therefore, those people who be aware of your pocket book address affiliation with your identity may well manage to track your transactions from the submitted ledger. But since this can be a network feature that is usually implemented all over that, there isnt much that will Bitcoin Key Wallet can easily do to change the idea. That being said, regarding extra privacy, you may well furthermore usage Bitcoin Key with Treffer this privacy-centric anonymizing solution which usually helps users hide his or her IP address. This way, you can ensure of which this is not of which easy for your authentic individuality to be encountered in the event someone is searching into your Internet protocol address details. Bitcoin Core Pocket Evaluate: Customer Support Satoshi chose to practice their right to help comfort and as the result decided to avoid all ongoing Bitcoin help, and that action led to this support to get Bitcoin networks to fall into the arms of its users, who in fact ended up doing the tremendous job of that by means of stepping up for you to the challenge and even taking Bitcoin network into the range one spot by industry limit in the whole world. While it is true that the Bitcoin network has their problems with regards to scalability, longer transaction times and higher business deal price in the face of network demand, this supporting teams of coders and programmers that have working for the betterment of the Bitcoin blockchain are working to deliver about up-dates that would fix these kinds of issues for Bitcoin soon. Similarly, since Bitcoin Central is an open-source clientele, everyone can contribute to be able to their code and offer changes to the total network, which can be implemented following conversations which may or might not produce general opinion in such proposals. The VIA Digital Foreign money Initiative and Blockstream are simply just two regarding many agencies that will play a role towards the development regarding Bitcoin Core both via finance and developmental hard work. Some other notable organizations focused to the expansion of this Bitcoin network likewise retain contributing to Bitcoin Key, and the implementation hence has some of the nearly all proficient of intellects inside the technology industry concentrating on it. Should Bitcoin Key Wallet Be Selected being a Primary Wallet or Trading Platform? If you intend to use Bitcoin Main with regard to the other features just simply as much as the particular Bitcoin Key Wallet, next selecting the particular Bitcoin Major Pocket book as your go-to service for storing your Bitcoins would be a logical choice, since very handful of purses could provide the same level of protection that will one being handled by way of a blockchain rendering would do. However, if an individual do not currently have almost any other uses in mind for your Bitcoin Core rendering and only want to obtain the idea for that Bitcoin Main Wallet, it would be just as smart for you to not really go ahead with the decision of making this your primary wallet. Dealing with the whole process associated with downloading it Bitcoin Core for you to your system, since protected as it may be, in addition to keeping a program on your computer that takes over 145 GIGABYTE to build and then might take about 500 MB every day to function like a full node would provide you with an increase of hassles and ongoing components issues even if you pick up immense protection for your own Bitcoins in exchange. On the particular various other hand, a great way to always keep your Bitcoin safe on the extent where you are willing to placed your own personal hardware assets to use in buy to carry out that goal, then alternatively of giving hundreds of GBs within harddrive space to your own personal pocket book, you could possibly invest a few funds into hardware purses such as Trezor or Ledger. These wallets can keep your funds equally as safe and present anyone with access to all of them as soon as you plug your devices within your computer. It will, naturally , include some fiscal charges, however you would likely be spending much in excess of some sort of few months with regards to hard disks and world wide web when you keep using Bitcoin Key.

How to Know if Your Idea is Worth Pursuing
Graphic Design Process | The Fundamentals of Choice
The fork in the road. The wall full of post-it notes. The moleskine full of goals and dreams. The folder on your desktop packed with inspiration boards and Illustrator files titled âfinal_final_final.aiâ. Does that sound like you? Weâve all been there. As creative people and makers, weâre constantly packed with ideas for our next product, service, or side project. Generating ideas isnât the problem. Selecting the right one is.
Gotta Check Yourself
Tim Brown of IDEO states very eloquently that the âdesignerâs toolkitâ includes the ability to uncover âthe needs of people, the possibilities of technology, and the requirements for business success.â These three ways of seeing the world, often referred to as desirability, feasibility, and viability, have been used for years by entrepreneurs and designers who are looking for a way to understand whether an idea is worth pursuing or not.
This approach teaches innovators to challenge their assumptions and biases by speaking to experts in engineering, considering various business models, and taking the time to truly understand and empathize with the end user. By going through a process like this, you can successfully check yourself and make sure you are creating a solution that people want, as well as one that can ultimately sustain itself and be possible to build in the first place⌠but something critical is missing from the equation. Donât get me wrong, speaking to end-users, doing your research, and talking with a bunch of smart engineers is absolutely critical. But when you base every decision on external validation, you are limiting yourself from realizing something deeply authentic to your own unique point of view.
The next time you come to a great idea as an individual or as a team, engage in a prioritization session that evaluates each concept from a desirability, feasibility, and viability standpoint, but also from a perspective that leaves room for a conversation around your personal (or collective) mission as well as your own intuition.
The Five Evaluation Lenses:
Desirability: My user/customer will like it
Feasibility: It is technically possible to see through
Viability: It will perform well in the market and make money to sustain itself
Mission: It is aligned with our greater mission and vision
Intuition: I just have a good feeling about this that I canât describe
Following a generative ideation session, try this simple 3-step process:
Write each individual idea on a seperate post-it note, and place each post-it on a wall or table.
Study each idea carefully, and go through an affinity mapping exercise to organize the ideas based on their similarity. Feel free to consolidate multiple ideas or even throw out the ones that feel redundant.
Finally, go through each idea, one-by-one, and assess them through the 5 Evaluation Lenses. If you feel as though you are unable to evaluate these all on your own, turn to friends or outside experts to help guide you in the process.
Tough Decision Time
Itâs important to note that a great idea is not necessarily one that meets all 5 of these criteria. Ultimately, thatâs up to you to decide (as it relates to your own definition of success!), but this simple graphic design process can help shine a light on your ideas in an entirely different way to help you begin to prioritize and make those tough decisions.
Albert Einstein famously said that âintuition does not come to an unprepared mind.â What he means by this is that a hunch or gut-feeling is not something to take lightly because you only achieve those feelings based on past experiences that may have taken you years to acquire. Make 2019 the year you trust that hunch. It might surprise you.
You can learn more graphic design process fundamentals and how to put them to the best possible use at HOW Design Live 2019, where industry leaders and thousands of designers like you will come together and take the next step together.

5S is a regular systematic form of visual management, using everything from floor tape to operation manuals. It not only simply focus on visual order, authentication, hygiene or organisation; It is also about increasing efficiency, profitability, service and safety. 5S is a unique idea and framework that emphasizes the use of a specific mindset and tools to create efficiency and value. The principles underlying a 5S program at first appear to be simple and obvious common sense. However, when implemented in a disciplinary manner, the above benefits will occur.
This system focuses on keeping everything where it works and keeping the workplace clean, making it easier for people to do their jobs without wasting time, without confusion and without injuries. It involves observing, assessing everything present in a space, collaborating, and searching for waste and also involves the practice of removing waste, keeping this cycle going organise, clean, repeat.
5S include five terms that all start with the letter "S".
Credits: Google
What Does 5S Stand For?
5S, generallystated as 5s or Five S. 5S came from Japanese terms. These Japanese words used to describe the phases of the 5S system of visual management. Each term starts with an S. In Japanese, the 5S's are Seiri, Seiton, Seiso, Seiketsu, and Shitsuke. In English, the 5S's are usually translated as Sort, Set in order, Shine, Standardize, and Sustain.
The Five key practices are as described below:
1) JAPANESE TERM -- Seiri
  ENGLISH TERM  -- Sort
It involves going through all the tools, materials, equipment etc., keeping only the essential items needed for the full work. Some questions that have to ask our self at this stage are: --> What is the use of this equipment or item? --> When was the last time this item was used? --> How often it is used? --> Who used it? --> Do this item really essential to be here?      This action passes through all subjects in a workplace ad work piece to determine the value of each item and ends with the need and removal. Everything that has not been used to complete the work process should leave the work area. Â
2)Â JAPANESE TERMÂ -- Seiton
ENGLISH TERM   -- Set in order
Once the extra items are removed it is easier to see and identify what's what. Make sure that all items are organised and each item has a designated location. Organise all the remaining items in a logical way and felicitate the work to make the workers complete. This often involves:
Which people (or workstations) use which items?
When those items are used?
what items are often used?
Should items be grouped by type?
Where would it be most logical to place items?
Do some appointments on unnecessary movements?
Need more storage containers to handle things?
 3) JAPANESE TERM -- Seiso
    ENGLISH TERM   -- Shine
The shine stage of 5S focuses on proactive efforts to keep workplace areas clean and orderly. This means cleaning and maintaining the newly organised workspace. It involves simple and routine tasks such as sweeping, moping, wipingdown surfaces, putting tools and materials away etc., In addition to basic cleaning, performing regular maintenance of machinery, tools and other equipment.
 4) JAPANESE TERM -- Seiketsu
ENGLISH TERM   -- Standardize      After completing first three steps of 5S, things should look pretty good. All the extra stuff is gone, everything is maintained, spaces are cleaned, and equipment is in good working condition.      In this stage create a set of standards for both organization and processes. In essence, this is where you take the first three S's and make rules for how and when these tasks will be performed. These standards can involve regular tasks, creating schedules, charts, lists, and posts instructions so these activities become routine.
5)Â JAPANESE TERMÂ -- Shitsuke
ENGLISH TERM   -- Sustain      Sustain refers to the process of keeping 5S running smoothly, but also of keeping everyone in the organisation involved. Sustain new practices and conduct audits to maintain discipline. This means the previous four S's must be continued over time. Managers need to participate, as do employees out on the manufacturing floor, in the warehouse, or in the office. Sustain is about making 5S a lon-term program, not just an event or short-term project. Ideally, 5S becomes a part of an organisation's culture and when 5S is sustained over time, that's when businesses will start to notice continuous positive results.
6)Â SAFETYÂ -- THE 6th S Â Â Â Â Â Some companies like to include a sixth S in their 5S program i.e., Safety. When safety is included, this system is often called as 6S. The safety step involves focusing on what can be done to eliminate risks in work processes by arranging things in certain ways. Â Â Â Â Â Some industries believes Safety an outcome of performing the other 5S's appropriately, and as a result say 6S isn't necessary. They think if workplace is properly organised and cleaned and uses helpful visual safety cues, a seperate safety step is unnecessary. Â Â Â Â Â Neither approach to safety is right or wrong, but however a business wants to approach safety, it should be aware that paying attention to safety is important.

The Greatest Showman: Freedom, Radical Authenticity, And YOUR Power To Change The World
Inspired by The Greatest Showman starring Hugh Jackman
Leaving the gym at around 7:30 am, after spending a little time getting my stretch on in the steam room, and upping my early morning social media game, I listenâŚ
âYou stumble through your days got your head hung low your skiesâ a shade of grey like a zombie in a mazeâŚâ
As I listen to The Greatest Showman soundtrack, Hugh Jackmanâs words pierce my psyche and my heart. His song, Come Alive, at once, spirals me through a sea of memories of the 15 years that I spent the majority of my life counting down the minutes and hours until I could finally leave work, go home to a lonely existence, and rinse and repeat the next day.
Then comes the promise of a light somewhere peeking through the cracks in the tunnel
âCome alive, come alive Go and ride your light Let it burn so bright Reaching up To the sky And itâs open wide Youâre electrifiedâŚâ
A distinct memory envelopes my mind- Iâm standing behind the counter in the weather office at Marine Corps Air Station Camp Pendleton.
My Sergeant Major, at the time, had just come into the office to tell me that, although the command knew my intent to exit the Marines, Iâd just been slated to fill what is called a âB-billet.â This basically means that Iâd been put on a list to be forced into one of the most demanding, shit show jobs, you could possibly do while still stateside (recruiting, drill instructing, combat instructing or if youâre lucky, embassy duty), and that only people who are looking to get promoted and plan to stay in until retirement, actually subject themselves to.
Now, some people spend their entire military career aspiring to fill the image of one of these perceived superheros, but Iâd recently been promoted to Staff Sergeant (E-6) and would be exiting the Marine Corps in about a year-and-a-half. There was no reason for me to complete a b-billet. But, out of esprit de corps, I offered to extend my enlistment to fulfill the obligation requirement of whatever billet Uncle Sam decided to throw me into.
And then it happenedâŚthe ultimate betrayalâŚ
We had this saying in the Marine Corps, that we used metaphorically, whenever we felt like we were being screwed by the good old USMC. We called it, getting the âgreen weenie.â Well, Uncle Sam gave it to me that day when I was informed that extending my enlistment to fulfill the 36 month obligation required to fill a b-billet, was not good enough. If I were selected, Iâd be forced to reenlist for 4 more years and if I refused to reenlist, Iâd be âawardedâ with a special derogatory code that would follow me for eternity, indicating that I ârefused orders.â
The lyrics continue, âCause youâre just a dead man walking Thinking thatâs your only option But you can flip the switch and brighten up your darkest day Take the world and redefine it Leave behind your narrow mind Youâll never be the sameâŚâ
And in that moment, a switch DID flip, and I have NEVER been the same!
Up until that moment, sitting in the Career Plannerâs office, there had been a little part of me still questioning whether I wanted to take the plunge away from the security of a federally funded career, and into the vast unknown and discomfort of reintegration into civilian society. But at once, that last flicker of honor, uncertainty about my decision to exit the Corps, vanished. After such an unjust attempt to back me into a corner, the Corps represented more of a prison than a voluntary fighting force.
But who was I kidding-it was a prison all along!
Within a few months, I had submitted for, and carried out an âearly outâ package, releasing me from service six months early. Iâd dodged the b-billet bullet and was not going to waste time removing myself from the stranglehold of the ultimatum I was given (even after expressing my willingness to compromise to fit the âneeds of the Marine Corps,â). This is not, by the way, how to maintain low attrition rates in your organization!
Not surprisingly, upon exiting the military, I dove head first into a situation that would land me repeating an only slightly-improved-version of the same thing Iâd just left behind. After two years in college, my dream college actually, I realized that I was repeating the old pattern, positioning myself to end up working my ass off for four or eight years and then go work another nine-to-five.
I couldnât decide on one thing to devote my life to studying and I was freaking out on the inside.
Then it happened- the ultimate resistance, right at the end of a semester. A situation arose that resulted in flying my two young nieces out to New York City. I figured itâd be no big deal, in such a big city, to find childcare for them. Boy was I wrong! Taking care of the girls really shook me. Not only did I end up having to withdraw at the end of the semester, but it made me realize that I wanted to have more children and I also wanted to finally carry out my lifelong dream to travel and experience other cultures. What I did NOT want to do was have more children before getting to do those things. I wanted to feel free. Since I married at 18, had my daughter right before my 20th birthday, and seperated from her father five months later, I never got to experience that freedom from responsibility that characterizes many Americanâs 20-somethings.
After the girls left, I completed one more semester- a course on Indian Art and Architecture and a course on East Asian Buddhism- and I was ready to go travel. I had fallen behind on the payments of my investment property in California, was facing possible foreclosure, and used my student loans to pay for the cost of the kids, so I was stuck between a rock and a hard spot. Fortunately, Iâd bought the place, three years earlier, with a lot of foresight. I decided to sell the house, and came out $60,000 on top, even after the back payments, and realtor fees.
By now, youâre probably wondering how all of this ties togetherâŚ
Well, my first trip was to one of the most transformational events Iâve experienced in my life, Unleash the Power Within with Anthony Robbins. This event forced me to dig VERY VERY deep, and completely changed the trajectory of my life. For the first time, I was beginning to understand myself; for the first time in a long time, I felt truly inspired to be alive. I decided that the three most important things I could possibly do were to understand myself better, trust my instincts and pursue my passions. Tony also planted the seed that peaked my interest in âmultiple income streamsâ and business. So, I proceeded to buy every program he offered, and then scheduled lessons in Neuro-linguistic Programming, hypnosis, tantra yoga, and Japanese Taiko drumming. Yes, I was all over the map. But I was happy.
While I missed learning from some of the worldâs best, and I missed the idea of possessing that Ivy League degree (the status symbol that I now understood was serving as a source of significance, certainty and certain misery for me), I was much happier being the free spirit that was authentically me. The person Iâd almost forgotten completely over the many years Iâd clutched to certainty and significance as my primary needs (an unconscious mistake that prevents true fulfillment for so many of us).
I caught a glimpse of freedom. I feel itâŚ
âWhen the world becomes a fantasy And youâre more than you could ever be âCause youâre dreaminâ with your eyes wide open And you know you canât go back again To the world that you were living in âCause youâre dreaminâ with your eyes wide open So, come aliveâŚâ
And after almost 3 years of extreme personal growth, building multiple streams of income and learning the ins and outs of passion-based business,
when I listen to The Greatest Showman soundtrack, my soul comes alive.
Not only because I resonate so deeply with the message of the movie: the struggles and beauty of entrepreneurship; our power to create; our ability to alter the trajectory of the world we live in, if we only take the risk of following our heart; the importance of seeing the potential in others; the liberating effect of radical authenticity; accepting the good with the bad, I could go on and on!
âI am not a stranger to the dark Hide away, they say âCause we donât want your broken parts Iâve learned to be ashamed of all my scars Run away, they say No oneâll love you as you areâŚâ
This movie also served as a little reminder of my childhood dream of performance, my love of singing, of theater, the parts of myself Iâve learned to hide over the years. It allowed me to understand that itâs ok, and even healthy, to do life for you, on your terms.
I am not responsible for fixing the world or anyone else in it; just myself.
As Rupaul mentioned in a recent Oprah interview, the purpose of life is to experience life, to enjoy it, thatâs first and foremost.
âWhen the sharpest words wanna cut me down Iâm gonna send a flood, gonna drown them out I am brave, I am bruised I am who Iâm meant to be, this is me Look out âcause here I come And Iâm marching on to the beat I drum Iâm not scared to be seen I make no apologies, this is meâŚâ
Gandhi said, âbe the change you wish to see in the world.â The depth of this quote is unending, Iâm learning, as the lesson continues to flow constantly. Hind Swaraj (home-rule) is a never ending process of personal growth!
Yes, itâs true, that stepping into your authenticity is as uncomfortable as it is empowering.
You will be criticized, ostracized and outcasted. But it is fully worth it! When you embrace the discomfort, it is then that your inner superheroine will shine forth from the S on your chest (in your heart that is).
âAnother round of bullets hits my skin Well, fire away âcause today, I wonât let the shame sink in We are bursting through the barricades and Reaching for the sun (we are warriors) Yeah, thatâs what weâve become (yeah, thatâs what weâve become)âŚâ
All I ask of you now, is that you become a warrior with me!
ââCause darling without you All the shine of a thousand spotlights All the stars we steal from the nightsky Will never be enough Never be enough Towers of gold are still too little These hands could hold the world but itâll Never be enoughâŚâ
Letâs steal the night, feel the warmth of a thousand spotlights, enjoy the gold, and hold the worldâŚtogether! Empowered by our unique strengths, dreams, visions and perspectives; by each of our unique and fully authentic truths. Letâs take the world by storm. Letâs be the change we wish we could see. Letâs see the incredible potential in one another, once and for all. Letâs set high expectations for life and take full responsibility in creating it.

Work within the context of ''perform interdependency'' project, a co-operation between Athens School of Fine Arts, Kunshochschule Kassel, and the BA Arts and Media at ZurichUniversity of Arts. Each participant had to develop an art work, individually or collectively. I made a group of manuals, where the most important element was that everyone who wanted to exercise , had to do it together with other people and not individually.
Gym is a place that obliges you to exercise: a world with its own rules, designed to facilitate a relatively constant and exclusive consentration on the performance of the prescribed physical activities. A non-place of apparent socialization, where ready-made identities are being produced. The legitimacy of physical-recreational comes to be found directly on the needs and desires of the person who carries them. So, in other worlds, gym or fitness is presented as an expression of the individual's will. Its like it provides an opportunity for authentic expression of the individual, and above all a way of having fun, relaxing, taking your mind off things, being revitalized. In gym's, trainers ask people to concentrate on their own bodies during exercise and in a way they manipulate the form of the work out or the sequence-the form of the exercises that the individuals are called to follow. Also, the practises of the body are distributed in functionally diffentiated areas within the gym center: they're areas for exercises, differing in relation to the activities that take place in them, there are chancging rooms, saunas and in the bigger centers, swimming pools and other facilities for bady care. Once you pass through the entrance, and the noise of the street is muffled, you find yourself in a seperate and protected environment. Using a variety of different architectual solutions, each gym defines its boundaries in its own way and characterizes its style and atmosphere. How could a gym without any mirrors or equipment be. At this point, most people would probably think or imagine something like going for a run or yoga in the park but that's not what I have in my mind. My perspective is more like creating a new situation by using some of the gym's methodology.
Using GYM'S language, I create a set of instructions in the form of a manual. Instructions that are neutral, cold, paradox, useful and relevant only to a specific exercise. Through these instructions  the bodies aren't used as instruments to achieve a fitness body or to improve the figure, but they are used as parts of a workout machine. All the bodies are building- working out together. In a typical scene of exercise, the gym clients work out together, each focused on his or her own body: the bodies next to them become, to some degree, neutral and innocuous, useful and relevant only to the exercise. But not in this manual. For each exercise, there is a different composition, wherein each time the most important element in that all the participants produce together and not individually.

How rare it is to find a romantic comedy about a middle-aged couple in this day and age of American cinema. The marriage at the core of Azael Jacobsâ âThe Loversâ is so authentically rendered to the audience that many of the scenes come off as painfully real.
âThe Loversâ is about those who love, but also about those who discard love. The couple at the center of this tragi-comedy are Mary (Debra Winger) and Michael (Tracy Letts), both pursuing seperate affairs and all, but having given up on their marriage. Donât be discouraged by the morose nature in which I describe âThe Lovers,â for it springs surprises of hope and healing in its tightly-knit running time o 94 minutes, that no writer should reveal.
The film is a scathing, but humorously authentic take on the state of true love and being faithful to one another. Its young writer-director, helmer of the vastly underrated âTerri,â is asking tough, everlasting questions about what love means and if it could ever be realistically sustained trough a lifetime. The film implies that middle aged couples can be, and are, as sexually screwed up as any younger couple in their mid-20s.
Debra Winger is at the center of these sustained, depth-filled questions. She gives one of the very best performances of her career as Mary, a woman filled with disappointment, wounded by a lackluster marriage and on the brink of telling her spouse sheâs had enough. Thereâs an abundance of passion and wit in Wingerâs tour-de-force performance. Unpredictable, intense and filed with abundant wit, Winger shows a vulnerable side to her art by opening herself up to a role that Jacobs had specifically written for her.
She spoke to me about the film and what it means to have such a depth-filled, female role come her way at this stage of her career, a role which, as I cross my fingers, could land her a fourth Best Actress nomination.
Itâs a pleasure meeting you, despite this little hiccup we just had on the phone. What was that music as we werenât being put on hold!?
Hello Jordan, did you have the same technological glitch there? From my perspective I was stuck in what sounded like, you know the music you have no control over when youâre on hold, it was sort of like an elevator between a piercing place and a tattoo salon, the kind of music they would play in a place with that hybrid.
I think thatâs what I was listening to as well
So weâre already on the same page here [Laughs].
Well, I have to say, loved your performance, loved the movie so itâs very exciting to talk to you about this. So I presume you still have offers to act in movies. What made âThe Loversâ the right movie for you? Did it come at the right time?
I had met [director] Azael Jacobs before, so I knew him. I had written him a letter, I had asked him if he ever had anything where he felt like somebody like me could be in. So we kept a relationship where we spoke a couple times a year. At some point the script arrived and I knew that I really wanted to work with him.
Oh really? So you write notes to directors often? Or was it just Azael?
I wouldnât say often, but I have been known to drop the occasional fan note.
Any other directors you would be allowed to name check in this interview?
Oh, I think Iâve written notes to Paul Thomas Anderson, I think Iâve written notes to Mike Leigh, Olivier Assayas, yeah Iâve written some notes [Laughs].
You definitely have good taste
So you like the film. You sound like a younger person.
Yeah, I loved it. I got married a year ago, so it still feels fresh.
So this movie didnât depress you?
No, because I know all about the territory that Iâm getting myself into.
Yeah, thatâs true. You donât have to be married to know that the institution creates some traps. I remember the first time I got married around 31 years ago. The first movie that we saw, oh shit canât remember the title, but it was Meryl Streep, Jack Nicholson and Nora Ephron wrote the screenplay about marriage, and it was so depressing and it was like everybody hated each other, marriage was horrible and I was like this is not a good honeymoon movie.
Are you talking about âHeartburnâ?
âHeartburn,â yeah, but I feel like âThe Loversâ is a cautionary tale and I think in my life, as far as love is concerned, because I do love love stories, always liked to tell love stories, I find them mysterious and the question about how to make love stay is a lasting question and I like to keep asking it and I think cautionary tales are a good thing.
Well, I find the movie is, in the end, not that depressing because it feels almost hopeful, it gives you hope!
I agree.
It also explores all the strains that eventually develop in marriage and how to defeat those demons.
Right, and how easily we could fall asleep and how we donât even notice it because it just seems more convenient not to confront it. And also I have this whole theory going in that good writers donât even realize it, theyâre writing on such an intuitive level, that when the actors start pulling it apart and inhabiting it, things come out. And when we got up to Santa Clarita, where it was shot, and I saw where we were going to shoot, this suburban middle class neighborhood, I was like, man this is a whole sector of America that is white-knuckling it right now, you know? And itâs a luxury to afford to divorce. Youâre not getting along, your relationship isnât going well, âoh letâs get two apartments, pay two electric bills.â People donât realize what a privilege decision that can be.
Oh yeah, completely agree with that. That side of the story is never tackled.
So, I was very interested in the socio-economic side of it in that, you stay in the same house, you kind of avoid each other, you try to find some happiness wherever you can, then one day you wake up and youâre like âwait a minute, this is my life?â
I know a couple thatâs in that situation. Theyâre pretty open about it as well.
Yeah, well it moves to that stage if it doesnât move to the other stage, which is where âThe Loversâ is. I think it also is a timing thing. You could do that for a while, but when your kid goes off to college and youâre left with this glaring lie in your life, itâs pretty hard to realize that youâre not doing well. We forget how tentative we are, weâre only here for a little while.
That moment of finiteness. But, yeah when the kid goes to college you both just look at each other and youâre like âOk, I have to be with YOU now?â
Well, you know, if youâre doing this whole sneaking around and cheating thing just to keep the structure of a marriage which is somewhat familiar to a child, that tends to fall apart, plus, for the most part, you find out that heâs known all along anyway because as we know when we have a baby they are totally vibratory creatures, I mean they pick up on everything and it doesnât matter what they âknow or donât knowâ, they know it in their bodies.
The chemistry that you have in the movie with Tracy Letts to showcase these details is quite incredible. I know him mostly as a playwright, what was it like working with him?
Yeah, heâs been a sort of late bloomer to movies and, as he would tell you, usually plays the guy in a suit ordering the drone strike. For him, I think he was kind of lit up by the role itself. You know, being able to be in that situation in a film, I mean, Iâm sure heâs done it on stage, but I was just so delighted because he was just so available and for me, I say yes to a director, and I mean YES. I show up and if Iâve said yes, Iâm pretty much willing to explore anything. If you make yourself available you donât really have much protection and that can be super painful, not in a physical way, but itâs like any other situation in life, movies are no different if youâre doing it right, so I donât have a craft that allows me to go in and protect all my corners and, sort of, nooks and crannies and give an honest and open performance. I have to be in a trusting environment and I think Azael created that and I think Tracy was just so up for that, thatâs how he looks at having a scene partner. We hit it off and we used that feeling and we ran with it and I think that when youâre younger you mistake that feeling in life and thatâs when so many actors screw up [Laughs].
A whole bunch of stuff happens
Yeah, a whole bunch of stuff happens in a movie because youâre emotionally available and, in this case, the right exact thing happened. You know, weâre both happily married to other people and we just access that part of ourselves that would have probably gone wild and off the rails years ago.
How long was the shoot?
24 days.
Thatâs fairly âŚ
Shocking. That was shocking to me. I mean, I come from a world where we shot almost three months on a film. Iâm telling you, it was rollicking, I donât mind it, but I think that a few more days would have been nice.
Thatâs actually a very common thing for an actor to tell me these days, that the shoot was way too short.
Well, because independent films now are just, you know, shot out of the canon. Thereâs usually not a lot of time for preparation, I was lucky enough to have some time on this, and youâre working, you know, 14 hour days, and youâre driving yourself to locations. Iâm really hoping that the business is finding its watermark because when the bottom fell out of the independent film business it was just so shocking that all that could be made was a 500 thousand dollar or a 500 million dollar film and weâre starting to see the advent between a $1M movie and a $30M movie, which we havenât seen since, I donât know, the late â70s early â80s. I made one called âMikeâs Murder,â sort of at the beginning of the independent film boom and then, of course, âBig Bad Loveâ was at the end of it, so I think we just have to find this place where we can make right-sized movies that good actors want to make and you donât have to sit for five hours and have to play a superheroâs movie or a purple Amoeba from another planet, but that you can tell some stories that we need to hear. Hopefully the budget can come up a bit from this one and give you a little more time so you all donât fall under the weather and we can make some movies.
I guess this is a little better than shooting âSheltering Skyâ for, what was it, five months?
No, I donât think itâs better. That was a transformational experience. I had my kid with me, I had my whole life with me, I loved that shoot, I have no complaints about that shoot. I donât think every movie should be five months. I do also find that the experience of making âThe Loversâ was transformational for me because, at my age, to be able to tell a story about the vivacity and the connection into life that I feel inside, it so rarely finds a place in society to live. You know, we like to put older people in a box and keep them separate and believe that itâs never going to happen to us. Iâm here to say that at 61 itâs a really vibrant time.
Iâm sure youâre always searching for those opportunities
I am, I just donât think that theyâre written for the most part.
