it's come to my attention when I say I like jegulily it doesn't mean the same thing as when the rest of you say you like jegulily
they are so much more to me than two pieces of a polycule or queer platonic relationship that happened to share a boyfriend (which all of those things are fine, however not what I thought we were going for)
I meant lily is fucking reg with a strap. they are well oiled machine in the kitchen and if anybody else comes in there while they're working they will die. they are holding each other and sharing kisses well getting railed by James. they have a silent communication between each other that is so perfectly in tune it scares everybody. they purposely get pregnant at the same time and are each other's birthing partners for lemaze and frequently referred to their children as the twins post birth.
the two of them are in a relationship with each other just as much as they are in a relationship with james

the communities I get shown whenever I risk poking through non-dashboard tabs are like. i don't even know what I'm trying to say here or why I'm posting about this. like it's not surprising they exist but trying to guess what will pop up feels like throwing darts at a board. sure. billionaire roleplay (not in a sexy way. like asking what colors your six new yachts should be). leonard nimoy fanclub where it's just screenshots of star trek or mission impossible or wherever else he shows up. like yeah of course. Augustine Tolton

Augustus Tolton (April 1, 1854 – July 9, 1897), baptized Augustine Tolton, was the first Roman Catholic priest in the United States publicly known to be black when he was ordained in 1886. (James Augustine Healy, ordained in 1854, and Patrick Francis Healy, ordained in 1864, were of mixed-race.) A former slave who was baptized and reared Catholic, Tolton studied formally in Rome.
He was ordained in Rome on Easter Sunday of 1886 at the Archbasilica of St. John Lateran. Assigned to the diocese of Alton (now the Diocese of Springfield), Tolton first ministered to his home parish in Quincy, Illinois. Later assigned to Chicago, Tolton led the development and construction of St. Monica's Catholic Church as a black "national parish church", completed in 1893 at 36th and Dearborn Streets on Chicago's South Side.
Biography
Early life
Augustus Tolton was born in Missouri to Peter Paul Tolton and his wife Martha Jane Chisley, who were enslaved. His mother, who was reared Catholic, named him after an uncle named Augustus. He was baptized Augustine in St. Peter's Catholic Church near Rensselaer, Missouri, a community in northeast Missouri. His master was Stephen Elliott. Savilla Elliot, his master's wife, stood as Tolton's godmother.
Freedom
How the members of the Tolton family gained their freedom remains a subject of debate. According to accounts Tolton told friends and parishioners, his father escaped first and joined the Union Army. Tolton's mother then ran away with her children Samuel, Charley, Augustine, and Anne. With the assistance of sympathetic Union soldiers and police, she crossed the Mississippi River and into the Free State of Illinois. According to descendants of the Elliott family, though, Stephen Elliott freed all his slaves at the outbreak of the American Civil War and allowed them to move North. Augustine's father died of dysentery before the war ended.
Vocation
After arriving in Quincy, Illinois, Martha, Augustus, and Charley began working at the Herris Tobacco Company where they made cigars. After Charley's death at a young age, Augustine met Peter McGirr, an Irish immigrant priest from Fintona, County Tyrone, who gave him the opportunity to attend St. Peter's parochial school during the winter months, when the factory was closed. The priest's decision was controversial in the parish. Although abolitionists were active in the town, many of McGirr's parishioners objected to a black student at their children's school. McGirr held fast and allowed Tolton to study there. Later, Tolton continued studies directly with some priests.
Despite McGirr's support, Tolton was rejected by every American seminary to which he applied. Impressed by his personal qualities, McGirr continued to help him and enabled Tolton's study in Rome. Tolton graduated from St. Francis Solanus College (now Quincy University) and attended the Pontifical Urbaniana University, where he became fluent in Italian language as well as studying Latin and Greek.
Priesthood
Tolton was ordained to the priesthood in Rome in 1886 at age 31. His first public Mass was in St. Peter's Basilica on Easter Sunday in 1886. Expecting to serve in an African mission, he had been studying its regional cultures and languages. Instead, he was directed to return to the United States to serve the black community.
Tolton celebrated his first Mass in the United States at St. Boniface church in Quincy. He attempted to organize a parish there, but over the years met with resistance from both white Catholics (many of whom were ethnic German) and Protestant blacks, who did not want him trying to attract people to another denomination. He organized St. Joseph Catholic Church and school in Quincy, but ran into opposition from the new dean of the parish, who wanted him to turn away white worshipers from his services.
After reassignment to Chicago, Tolton led a mission society, St. Augustine's, which met in the basement of St. Mary's Church. He led the development and administration of the Negro "national parish" of St. Monica's Catholic Church, built at 36th and Dearborn Streets on the South Side, Chicago. The church nave seated 850 parishioners and was built with money from philanthropists Mrs. Anne O'Neill and Katharine Drexel.
St. Monica's Parish grew from 30 parishioners to 600 with the construction of the new church building. Tolton's success at ministering to black Catholics quickly earned him national attention within the Catholic hierarchy. "Good Father Gus", as he was called by many, was known for his "eloquent sermons, his beautiful singing voice, and his talent for playing the accordion."
Several contemporaneous news articles describe his personal qualities and importance. An 1893 article in the Lewiston Daily Sun, written while he worked to establish St. Monica's for African American Catholics in Chicago, said, "Father Tolton ... is a fluent and graceful talker and has a singing voice of exceptional sweetness, which shows to good advantage in the chants of the high mass. It is no unusual thing for many white people to be seen among his congregation." The True Witness and Catholic Chronicle in 1894 described him as "indefatigable" in his efforts to establish the new parish. Daniel Rudd, who organized the initial National Black Catholic Conference which was held in 1889, was quoted in the November 8, 1888, edition of The Irish Canadian as commenting about the Congress by saying, "For a long time the idea prevailed that the negro was not wanted beyond the altar rail, and for that reason, no doubt, hundreds of young colored men who would otherwise be officiating at the altar rail today have entered other walks. Now that this mistaken idea has been dispelled by the advent of one full-blooded negro priest, the Rev. Augustus Tolton, many more have entered the seminaries in this country and Europe". Another indication of the prominence given Tolton by parts of the American Catholic hierarchy was his participation, a few months later, on the altar at an international celebration of the centenary of the establishment of the first U.S. Catholic diocese in Baltimore. Writing about it in the New York Times edition of November 11, 1889, the correspondent noted that "As Cardinal Gibbons retired to his dais [on the altar at the Mass], the reporters in the improvised press gallery noticed for the first time, not six feet away from him in the sanctuary among the abbots and other special dignitaries, the black face of Father Tolton of Chicago, the first colored Catholic priest ordained in America."
Death
Tolton began to be plagued by "spells of illness" in 1893. Because of them, he was forced to take a temporary leave of absence from his duties at St. Monica's Parish in 1895.
At the age of 43, on July 8, 1897, he collapsed and died the following day at Mercy Hospital as a result of the heat wave in Chicago in 1897. After a funeral which included 100 priests, Tolton was buried in the priests' lot in St. Peter's Cemetery in Quincy, which had been his expressed wish.
After Tolton's death, St. Monica's was made a mission of St. Elizabeth's Church. In 1924 it was closed as a national parish, as black Catholics chose to attend parish churches in their own neighborhoods.
Legacy and honors
Tolton is the subject of the 1973 biography From Slave to Priest by Sister Caroline Hemesath. The book was reissued by Ignatius Press in 2006.
In 1990, Sister Jamie T. Phelps, O.P., an Adrian Dominican Sister and then-faculty member of the Theology Department at Catholic Theological Union, initiated the Augustus Tolton Pastoral Ministry Program in consultation with Don Senior, President of CTU, the theology faculty, and representatives of the Archdiocese of Chicago, to prepare, educate, and form black Catholic laity for ministerial leadership in the Archdiocese of Chicago.
The Father Tolton Regional Catholic High School opened in Columbia, Missouri, in 2011.
Augustus Tolton Catholic Academy opened in the fall of 2015 in Chicago, Illinois. Tolton Academy is the first STREAM school in the Archdiocese of Chicago. A focus on science, technology, religion, engineering, arts, and math sets it apart as a premier elementary school in Chicago. Tolton Academy is located at St. Columbanus Church.
Cause for canonization
On March 2, 2010, Francis George of Chicago announced that he was beginning an official investigation into Tolton's life and virtues with a view to opening the cause for his canonization. This cause for sainthood is also being advanced by the Diocese of Springfield, Illinois, where Tolton first served as priest, as well as the Diocese of Jefferson City, Missouri, where his family was enslaved.
On February 24, 2011, the Roman Catholic Church officially began the formal introduction of the cause for Tolton's sainthood, which must take place in a public session. He is now designated Servant of God Fr. Augustus Tolton. Also at this time there was the establishment of historical and theological commissions, which will investigate the life of Tolton, and the Father Tolton Guild, which is responsible for the promotion of his cause through spiritual and financial endeavors. George assigned Joseph Perry, Auxiliary Bishop of Chicago, to be the Diocesan Postulator for the cause of Tolton's canonization.
On September 29, 2014, George formally closed the investigation into the life and virtues of Tolton. The dossier of research into Tolton's life went to the Vatican, where the documents collected to support his cause will be analyzed, bound into a book called a "positio" or official position paper, and evaluated by theologians, and then, supporters hope, passed on to the pope, who can declare Tolton "venerable" if he determines Tolton led a life of heroic virtue.
On December 10, 2016, Tolton's remains were exhumed and verified as part of the canonization process. Following procedures laid out in canon law, a forensic pathologist verified that the remains (which included a skull, femurs, ribs, vertebrae, pelvis, and portions of arm bones) belong to Tolton. Also found were the corpus from a crucifix, part of a Roman collar, the corpus from Tolton's rosary, and glass shards indicating his coffin had a glass top. After verification, the remains were dressed in a new chasuble and reburied.
On March 8, 2018, historians that consult the Congregation for the Causes of Saints unanimously issued their assent to Tolton's cause after having received and favourably reviewed the positio that was presented to them. On February 5, 2019, the nine-member theological commission unanimously voted to approve the cause. It must now go to the cardinal and bishop members of the Congregation for approval before it is passed to the pope for his final confirmation.
On June 12, 2019, Pope Francis authorized the promulgation of a "Decree of Heroic Virtue", advancing the cause of Servant of God Augustine Tolton. With the promulgation of the decree of heroic virtue, Tolton was granted the title “Venerable”. If the case progresses, the next stage would be beatification, followed by canonization.

Can I take a second to be annoying?
This is the same gender issue that CisHet people have been talking about on social media for the last year or so. And I don't blame you if you haven't noticed because a huge portion of the demographic talking about it are married moms who post too much on social media, specifically too much on TikTok.
But it's genuinely weaponized incompetence.
And while OPs dad might not be incorrect (and even though I'm not a lesbian I am as a queer women helping prove his point by even taking the time to post this) a huge portion of the burden of caring about a community falls on the woman.
In some cases, like this one, it's a larger community encompassing millions of people across the planet. In other cases it's a smaller community like an immediate family unit. But no matter what the case is, the burden of caring will always fall on women.
So all of that in mind care/converse/debate as much as you want, but know that it is OKAY to close some of those mental tabs sometimes and participate in debauchery
One time I was explaining to my dad how unfair it is that every big city has at least a couple gay bars but there are only like 20ish lesbian bars left in the country and he responded with "That's cause gay men have a good party culture. Lesbians don't have time to party, they're too busy debating the sociological implications of things and studying for postgrad degrees" and as much as I wanted to tell him he was out of line for that, as a lesbian who spends all her free time on Tumblr debating sociological implications and messaging other lesbians in discord servers where everyone has a PhD or masters for some reason I felt like I might not be the best person to make that argument

In the end some sort of consequence was finally brought to the man who has been accused of so much in his life. In formal impeachment proceedings there is no executive privilege. Song Review: Dead & Company - “Throwing Stones” (Live, Feb. 26, 2018)
Except for the rare occasions when Oteil Burbridge croons a Jerry Garcia ballad or John Mayer rips into one of Pigpen’s blues, Dead & Company rarely sound better than on a just-released version of “Throwing Stones” from this time last year.
Performed in Sunrise, Fla., less than two weeks after the mass shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, this clip shows the band donning MSDSTRONG T-shirts in solidarity with the many survivors in the audience & playing Bob Weir & John Perry Barlow’s political screed with fire & passion Dead & Company don’t always muster.
You can buy, Weir sings, pausing for effect ... the whole goddam government today
By this point, Weir is screaming & a delay on his voice makes him sound like a divine pontificator excoriating the gun lobby as his voice echoes through the arena.
Musically, this “Throwing Stones” is tight, slightly slower than the Grateful Dead’s rendition, & muscular. Mayer adroitly apes Garcia’s tone throughout & the band veers from the original only on the bridge - which sounds more like “Viola Lee Blues” - & when it skips the ashes to ashes all fall down coda.
If Dead & Company always played like this, Sound Bites would be back on the tour bus.
Grade card: Dead & Company - “Throwing Stones” (Live - 2/26/18) - A-

Living as a Practicing Catholic Father Right Now Today.
By Frank J Casella, CMCS Co-founder & Executive Director

Photo: 'Faithful Fatherhood' - Copyright 2013 Frank J Casella. Click here to get your copy.
Many of us men who read this newsletter are Fathers. To be a Father takes more than just having children – it takes living by example and treating our wives and women with respect. This can have an impact on our children three generations deep. We learn how to do this from watching how our dads treated our mothers. If you have a father who is a good role model, thank him personally or through prayer if he has passed away.
The growing epidemic of fatherless families, and our culture feminizing manhood, has taken a grave toll on children, both young and old, in the form of emotional, social, spiritual, academic, physical, criminal, and suicidal issues later on in life. It is not only fathers who have an impact on their children’s lives, but also uncles, grandfathers, and other male relatives. The fathers in these families are just one example of a role man can play in a child’s life.
Here are some ways you can support living as a Catholic Father right now today:
Live your life with integrity.
Be a good friend and supporter to your wife and children.
Don’t take things for granted – it’s important to spend time with your wife and children.
Be patient with your wife and give her the space she needs. Likewise with our children, especially once they are teenagers.
Communicate with your wife. There are many ways to communicate with your wife. Some couples find that speaking openly and honestly is the best way to get along. Others may prefer to write letters or cards to express their feelings. Whatever works best for you is the key to a successful relationship.
Lead by example and treat women with respect.
Listen to your wife and understand her concerns.
Spend quality time with your wife and children.
Kindness: Help each other make it through life. Make it simple.
Prayer: Ten minutes each day, tell Jesus how much you love him, and MAKE time to listen to the Holy Spirit speak to you.
Reading: Follow a daily Catholic devotional or read your Bible - Tip: ask God to speak to you, then open the Bible and start reading. IT WORKS!! (Subscribe to the US Bishops Daily Readings)
Devotion: Download and contemplate each day “A Man’s Prayer". Let the words speak to you, direct you. You will see a positive change in your outlook in life and world view.
Virtues: Download Bishop Perrys Virtues of a Catholic Man. Work on one at a time, but make it a goal to work on them.
Support Yourself: Join or start a Parish Small Men’s Group. Make it your business to be at the next Bishop’s Men’s Forum, annually the first Saturday after Easter Sunday.
Support Others: Donate to CMCS your time, expertise, money. It was the pontificate of Pope Benedict XVI who urged Catholics to reach out and convert believers in society. Join the CMCS social media community and make comments from your heart.
Worship: Worship the Lord Jesus Christ who makes life truly worth living, as opposed to the temporal things of this world – money, sports, food, cars, women / porn, booze, work, etc. – more of Christ, less of you. If you're not filled with Christ, your full of yourself. Bring yourself to the pew each Sunday - then, if married, bring your family.
Courage: To be a great leader of people — inspire them to follow you, not your rules.
"We believe Jesus Christ set’s the tone and the description for authentic manhood. The Gospels offer the outline and formation for manly maturity and the carrying out of responsibility as a single man, as a married man, family man, widow and for a man’s last days as he prepares to meet his Maker! A man can’t go wrong with taking on the task of the Christian lifestyle."
~ Bishop Joseph Perry

I just came in from my morning walk.
My devotions led me to this…
It goes like this.
We had a group of beautiful people at Wednesday night church family. I owe them an apology. Again. I got preachy. I hate it when I do that. I'm sorry. Please forgive.
If they ever have to do an autopsy for our church the cause of death will likely be listed as "preacher pontificating pious platitudes."
I should have just asked them to look around at the Kingdom of God. It was holy and present in a big, big way.
I remember a night in the gym. I saw Mackenzie Brooks with Hannah Cate. Hannah Cate was about 10 month old (I remember well Mackenzie at the same age). My memory was vivid. Hannah Cate was standing up, toddling a few steps, smiling and waving her arms, surrounded by all of us cheering and celebrating. Not another thing in the world was going on.
I remember a night the building was flooded with people wearing our church shirts and our Be Kind shirts and our Haiti shirts. It was remarkable, noticeable, heck, it was out there. My old friend Charlotte Craig wanted to be sure that I noticed her toenails, specially painted to match that turquoise shirt! The joyful virus is contagious.
Along came baby Leo. A foster baby surrounded by love. I am so grateful. Kim Cogswell had bought him a stocking cap. On the cap was embroidered "be kind." I have a photo of Leo wearing the cap. That cap did a lot more than cover a baby’s head. It opened an old man’s heart..
I remember Jill Perry had driven all the way to Scottsboro to get an order of #changetheconverstaion signs. They would have shipped them but we needed them. Folks were asking. When she arrived at the church building saints from four years to 80 years were unloading and planning and asking about their destinations and being excited for the ministry.
I remember a new friend, who is now a good friend, messaged me that she bought her ticket to go to Haiti with us come December.
I remember an old friend, who is a friend to all of us, rolled in on the wheelchair sharing a strength and faith that witnesses to me and will witness to the ages. The roll was called up yonder and she rolled on to happiness.
I remember as I was leaving Bible Study, which was way too long and boring in the midst of all that immediate joy, a friend turned back from the group ahead of me. She said "I just want to give you a hug. It has been a while."
That very night I got home and a young mother messaged me that her two years old son prayed for me as he went to bed.
The autopsy got changed. It now reads: "Despite the preacher Church wouldn’t die. Has life ever growing and ever lasting. Because a Risen Lord walks with them. All the time. In the most amazing ways."
May we see it.
Your move.
Brother Pat

I know that there are good jily fics out there but I also know that they are a few and far between. But ultimately the number one reason the issue with jily exsits is and always has been ⬆️THIS⬆️ and the difference between a good jily fic and the rest of them can be found in one tiny aspect. And that's if the fic was written by a jily fan or by a Lily Evans fan.
There are so many jily fics that put the relationship above the characters, so many people who are a fan of them together and not each of them separately, and it shows.
I am at my core and in my truest of hearts a multi shipper nothing can be done to change that. Because of that I read some amazing doralily fics, marylily fics, evans sisters fics, platonic moonlily fics, hell I've even read a couple jaw dropping snily fics. And each and every one of them was great because of the fact that it was so obvious that the person writing it clearly had respect and care for Lily outside of her relationships.
At this point people are writing jily for jily and not for Lily and James.
I'm happy for the Lily Evans Renaissance that I've seen starting lately (that I am fully crediting TikTok for) and I hope that with that comes genuinely well thought out and considerate jily fics but unless she becomes the main character of her own story this same issue is gonna keep coming up.
i think one of the reasons i find jily hard to engage with is that in so many fics (and posts) about their dynamic, it makes it seem like lily genuinely dislikes james.
like major parts of his personality. she just finds him obnoxious and irritating. and people will be like “he matured and they got together” but that makes me feel gross.
like i’m supposed to root for this couple when lily didn’t even want him? like she doesn’t even seem like she’s won over half the time. it’s like “james changed to fit my standards and now i like him.”
idk it makes james unbearable and it makes lily seem like she’s either pity dating james or emotionally manipulating him. except she barely had agency in any of the fics so she’s just existing as james’s love interest/wife
#let lily be her own main character#for the love of god i'm begging you#lily evans#james potter#the marauders#perry's pontification

A memo to President-elect Biden: Don’t coddle white racial anxieties
By Andre M. Perry As soon as media outlets called the presidential election in favor of Joe Biden, political commentators began pontificating on the need to unify and heal a deeply divided country. More votes were cast in this election than any other—approximately 145 million, with Biden receiving more total votes than any presidential candidate in history. But instead of conceding defeat, a salty Donald Trump is contesting the election through legal means, doubtlessly seeking to invalidate large numbers of votes from people of color—the traditional target of such electoral challenges. Trump’s baseless claims of voter fraud demonstrate that in order to heal the country, we must be clear about what’s really dividing us: racism. The nation’s economic recovery from COVID-19 is starkly uneven, with an unemployment rate that is 80% higher for Black workers than white ones. Continued disparities in education spending allow for schools predominated by students of color to receive $23 billion less than mostly white schools. Ninety percent of firms owned by people of color did not receive COVID-19 relief loans from the CARES Act. Extrajudicial killings of Black people continue, driving a costly wedge between us. But when many politicians and pundits talk about healing a divided nation, they create false equivalencies between the supposed “radical left” and historic white supremacist organizations. This will not set the table for understanding, nor will coddling the “white rage” that is often mischaracterized as economic anxiety. Healing isn’t about giving people more time to make themselves ready to accept policies that advance racial equity.
Trump’s baseless claims of voter fraud demonstrate that in order to heal the country, we must be clear about what’s really dividing us: racism.
Liberals and conservatives aren’t necessarily divided by their respective political philosophies; the wedge is racism. For instance, Black and Latino or Hispanic Americans go to church more other racial groups; on the surface level, this might make one assume they vote more Republican, like white evangelicals. But those church-going people of color vote overwhelming Democratic. Republicans would probably have many more Black and Latino or Hispanic members if the leader of the party didn’t conflate white nationalists with racial justice activists. Even the supposed divide between urban and rural America isn’t hurting the country as bad as racism. After the 2016 election was called in favor of Trump, it didn’t take long for analysts to declare that Democrats needed to better understand and empathize with rural voters and the working class—as if there are no Black and brown working-class people living in small towns. What’s destructive about these takes is the unstated assumption that the country can’t heal if white Americans aren’t accommodated first. If Biden is to truly heal a divided country, he should not coddle white racial anxieties rooted in a perceived loss of status and privilege. Policy should not be built on how it may assuage or enflame these pathologies. Americans—particularly those who are Black, Native American, Asian American, and Latino or Hispanic—have little use for policymaking that’s distracted by the threat of a racist backlash. Being a president to all Americans means not centering white grievances rooted in false notions of superiority. For the past four years, Trump’s reluctance to denounce white nationalism has encouraged his party’s willingness to shelter it. Now, his refusal to concede the election is akin to white nationalists’ refusal to accept the causes and result of the Civil War. While some may be stuck on racism, the rest of the country must move on.
Americans—particularly those who are Black, Native American, Asian American, and Latino or Hispanic—have little use for policymaking that’s distracted by the threat of a racist backlash. Being a president to all Americans means not centering white grievances rooted in false notions of superiority.
Biden has an obligation to deliver an agenda that addresses past and present racism—a central charge of those who supported his candidacy. With that comes an opportunity to show how a racial equity agenda lifts all boats, and how accounting for historical discrimination doesn’t throttle white people’s economic mobility. By becoming more inclusive, we can increase the size of the proverbial pie. Indeed, researchers and policymakers can do a better job conveying the benefits of an inclusive economy. Research must show the societal returns on investments for advancing Black and brown people in an economy. The recent calls for unity shouldn’t confuse us. Racism isn’t to be negotiated with; it’s to be scrubbed from our policies. Certainly, all Americans must have a say, and the president must acknowledge every voice. However, giving attention to the perceived loss of racial superiority isn’t going to heal a divided country. That can only come by dismantling the racist policies that built up such division in the first place.

there's not enough casual knotting in wolfstar like it doesn't have to be full a/b/o but Remus Lupin is a werewolf and I think that is something that should be utilized as more than just a depressing plot device
