constellations.
lies of p
pinocchio x reader
{ with freckles like constellations | i just want a new sensation. }
- valentine by COIN
your eyes were basking in the beauty of the expanse of the universe settled directly on your lap.
pinocchio had always been a puppet that greatly fascinated you. an utterly beautiful boy in a strange, tragic world that drew you in. from his true blue eyes to his chestnut strands of hair, geppetto's puppet reminded you deeply of the princes you read in fairytales from long ago.
you were one of the few human survivors left in the wake of the petrification disease, and it was thanks to your good fortune that you were lead to hotel krat, where you met with the owner, lady antonia. she was a kind and giving, always welcoming guests like you with open arms.
and it was here that you came into contact with pinocchio.
he was twitchy, at first, and it was abundantly clear that he was a puppet. and despite how unnatural his movements were, your eyes were always drawn to his beautiful face.
his pale skin was littered with freckles, and each and every speck reminded you of tiny little stars being dotted across the skies. his gaze was steadfast, unflinching even, as you kept your eyes on him. you admired each and every part of him, even finding yourself reaching out to him.
pinocchio continues to give you a blank stare, not even stepping back when your hands unconsciously reaches out to gently grace at his cheek. you admire the soft and smooth surface of his face, allowing your fingertips to brush back his flowing locks of chestnut hair, revealing those endearing freckles.
finally realizing what you were doing, you gasp and attempt to step away. "s-sorry pinocchio...ah?"
he says nothing, simply closing his eyes before placing his cheek against the palm of your hand. you watch as pinocchio's eyes flutter close, his eyelashes brushing against your skin as soft as a butterfly's wings.
he remains in this position for a few more beats before opening his eyes fully. not saying a word, pinocchio relinquishes his hold of your hand before walking away from you-
leaving your heart a mess of rapid beats and palpitations, threatening to explode within your chest.
despite how pinocchio was a mere puppet, you couldn't stop yourself from admiring him (or having that admiration turn into something much deeper, akin to fondness.) as he continued on with his journey through krat, the more he became... alive.
it was hard to explain. maybe it was due to his soft beauty, or how you witness him treating hotel krat's cat with such a gentle curiosity and kindness, but something about p made him feel more human than puppet.
and that just made your heart yearn for him even more.
as night fell across krat, and you were in the comfort of your own room within this grand hotel, you found yourself unable to sleep. you were settled on the settee placed near the window, giving you the full view of the city and the wide expanse of the night sky. the dim lighting of the candle flickers with the night air as you drank in the sight of the fading stars, somehow feeling your thoughts drifting back to pinocchio.
"i hope he's safe."
earlier, you had voiced your concerns to eugénie and sophia, yet both women had told you not to worry, that p was strong and would likely come back unscathed.
"if it truly worries you, perhaps i can send your beloved puppet to your room?"
sophia's gentle smile and teasing words were enough to make your face heat up in response, with you weakly holding up your hands in mock denial before hurrying back to your room, your face burning at how sophia seemed to know.
so you found yourself unable to sleep, feeling embarrassed and shy at the thought of pinocchio coming in here.
as you continued to stargaze, your reveries were interrupted by a gentle knock at your door. your voice was raised a few octaves when you said, "c-come in!"
you figured it was sophia or eugénie coming to call you down for supper, but what you weren't expecting to see was pinocchio himself come in.
"pinocchio?!" his name comes out of your parted lips in a choked gasp, heart beating almost painfully now at the mere sight of him. despite how he was still technically a puppet, you could see the changes he was beginning to display.
the p that stood before you now no longer had those wavy locks of chestnut hair. instead, his hair has grown longer, and a bit lighter as well. it was difficult to describe the color of his hair, but if you had to try, you'd say it was like the shade of a full moon. those gentle strands shone like spun silver against the moonlight, and he was so utterly beautiful that you found it hard to breathe.
he closes his eyes, seeming to take in a deep breath before letting out a whisper of your name. hearing the familiar syllables causes a shiver to run up and down your spine, and you could feel your heart melting within your chest at the sound of it.
"hello pinocchio." you greet him in the same, gentle manner, never once hiding your smile from him. you watch as his lips seemed to quirk upwards just the tiniest bit before making his way toward you.
he remains silent, simply laying down on the couch with you, settling himself on your lap. this sudden action was so...different and unexpected that you weren't sure how to respond or what to do.
your stomach was in knots now, and all you could see was pinocchio's achingly gentle beauty. as his hair was spread out across your lap, you could see his freckles clearly now, the sight of it all being much more captivating than the stars above.
with the puppet seemingly asleep, you took this chance to admire your personal constellation, allowing your fingertips to trace over his smooth skin like you did during your first meeting with him. truly, everything about p drew you into him, and you wanted nothing more than to bask in him, drinking him in as you burned his very visage into your memories.
your touch was gentle, not wishing for him to feel any discomfort or pain.
your touch was reverent, never once taking him for granted as you praised him for his bravery and strength.
as you continued to admire him, you felt a strange trembling in your lips, filling you with a desire to press them against the parted, rosy lips settled below you. you slide your eyes shut and whisper his name before allowing your lips to gently press against pinocchio's.
his reaction was immediate, eyes opening as true blue irises met with your own gaze. with a gasp, you pull away, an apology already set at the tip of your tongue when the puppet stops you.
using his hand, he brushes back your hair while letting out a sigh of your name, kissing you again as he closes his own eyes in response.
with pinocchio kissing you back, you found yourself melting into his arms, clinging to him. the kiss was awkward, with your teeth either bumping into his lips or his nose meeting with yours-
and yet it was still so utterly sweet. as you cling to him, you could have sworn you felt the tiniest bit of warmth exuding from him-
and a gentle flutter within his chest, reminding you of a heartbeat.
when the need for air proved to be too much, you pull away from pinocchio with adoration in your eyes. his expression was gentle and filled with tranquility, closing his eyes before pressing his lips against your forehead.
while being in pinocchio's embrace, you found your anxieties all but melt away, allowing the pinpricks of slumber to mar your consciousness. you end up falling asleep within his arms, unaware of how pinocchio held you and took you to back to bed.
as he held you, he presses his lips against your temple once more, silently vowing to remain forever by your side.

The major question of the story that we are now asking:
Why, exactly, does Carlo never "wake up"?
Tumblr media
[long post]
[Spoilers ahead]
Well, simply put - Because he is dead.
OK, that seems like too obvious an answer, but I'll elaborate, and bear with me here. I want to recap some elements first so you know where I'm coming from, but I'm also trying not to completely explain everything because that's way too hard and would be too long.
[Currently, we don't understand everything about the story or its meaning. Because of some of the shrouded nature of the lore and narrative, it leaves much mystery. But from viewing these questions and the story from a thematic standpoint, something unexpected and really cool happened. I found that the story and the lore opened up in reverse.]
The easiest way to explain the plot (in my opinion):
It was my impression that Geppetto never “started” the puppet frenzy. The puppets were NEVER breaking the grand covenant, interpretably they are protecting humans by stopping the spread of the petrification disease, it’s just that everyone in the city was infected by that point.
Now with the puppets killing everybody in a city where everyone was infected (ergo being the result of the disease) Simon can go around harvesting all that ergo and Geppetto presumably plays him by letting Simon collect the Ergo first, and then sending P to kill him. [again, these details may not be completely accurate, but bear with me here]
Why create P in the first place?
He's made in Carlo's image so to speak because Geppetto hopes that Carlo's spirit will awaken. This is also why P is never bound to the covenant (it seems that not being bound to robot laws makes puppet egos awaken faster, since awakened puppets can break the grand covenant). So that is the two functions of P, to destroy puppets for ergo to harvest and so Carlo's consciousness can restore. I was just guessing that the arm of god was enough to get Carlo to revive, and Carlo's mental spirit reviving would be helpful but not entirely necessary. But for reasons we don't understand, Carlo never does regain consciousness.
Geppetto bitterly tells us that we don't seem to have inherited Carlo's memories. There is no big moment where Pinocchio or Pino or P reawakens, fully, as Carlo. He isn’t treated by the story as him. During the course of the game, P struggles to forge his own identity, to become a real boy, despite starting as a copy of the original. It’s a very fitting parable for the genre identity of a soulslike.
However, there are other successful re-incarnations of people through puppets, namely Sophia at the end of the Rise ending. We ask, for consistency's sake, why are puppet-form Romeo and puppet-form Sophia assumed to have retained their original identities, but not Pino? This is just my personal interpretation of why Carlo just couldn't or doesn't wake up. It isn't really based any lore or deduction from story details, this is from more of a philosophical point of view. And it isn't just the luck of the draw.
Tumblr media
I had some initial thoughts about Carlo's failure. Romeo was made with intention of continuing to fight against the disease, as it's told that he "made a deal with the devil". Sophia may have been a special case, as she is a listener (Arlecchino even refers to her as the goddess in the tower), she may have had an ergo identity so strong that her essential self could retain this process. But either way, the implication is that Pino may have been able to recover her not long after that final fight. Look at the nameless puppet. The state of Carlo's body is so poor, that more than not his body seems to have been replaced with puppet parts. I think the implication was that Geppetto had been replacing parts as they rotted away. Maybe he had simply been dead for too long. But again, this isn't exactly why I think he couldn't awaken.
Simon and Geppetto
Lies has two main antagonists, although one isn't completely revealed until the last section. Both Simon and Geppetto are the perpetrators of Krat's destruction, but for what seems like different reasons. Simon is trying to be reborn, and Geppetto is trying to revive his dead son, Carlo. Interpretably, they are both trying to become Gods. Simon by grasping the supernatural, cosmic power of one, and Geppetto by raising the dead. They have destroyed Krat in their attempt to become a god, or more succinctly put, attempting to become God, singular. Geppetto's goal is, in essence, the same as Simon's goal - Because bringing back the dead would make him God.
That's why it seemed all so confusing. Haven't Geppetto and the alchemists already raised the dead, as Pino does at the end of the Rise ending with Sophia? Sophia, Romeo, and Carlo were all afflicted with the disease. Their Ergo were all made into puppets, but there's a minor but important distinction here. Sophia is still alive in her condition and actively suffering, this is the reason why she asks us to end her life. It seems as though Romeo lost his friend to the disease, and then made a "deal with the devil" to continue fighting, this implies being made into the king of puppets. We collected Sophia's ergo while she was alive, which we then used to animate the puppet. So the three of them were afflicted with the petrification disease. Sophia perished, Romeo perished, but Carlo died.
Tumblr media
Now if we see the sand memories section of the beach, the stalker's words start to gain some clarity. If Carlo died from an incurable disease that the stalker couldn't prevent, why is she too late? Perhaps the goal was never to "save" Carlo's life. She laments; That she was too late, NOT to "save" him, but for him to be able to be restored. The stalker seemed to understand that whatever procedure needed to be done would be useless past the point of death.
I have to admit that there was something that I thought could override my theory. It seems as though the alchemists already were able to bring back both Champion Victor and The Eldest of the BRB, and from the dead no less. We read from notes in the Grand Exhibition that Victor had caught the disease, died to the despair of his adoring fans, but then miraculously made a comeback somehow stronger than ever. But maybe - he had only appeared to be brought back from the dead to the public, as Victor sought the help of the alchemists. And when it comes to the Eldest in the coffin, I'm wondering if he was actually only mortally wounded, leading the brotherhood to consult with the alchemists. [The way he was carried out by his brothers too (shouldered on either side) isn't typically the way you would expect people would handle a dead person]
Tumblr media
Mirroring Sophia, Romeo, and Pinocchio, who were made into puppets: There is Champion Victor, The Eldest, and Nameless Puppet. We can see the former three as Geppetto's method of "cheating" God (cheating Death), and the latter three as alchemists' method. Only "Carlo" has a form in either one - The Nameless Puppet and the player, P. The Nameless puppet appears to share a similar undead quality with Victor and The Eldest of the BRB (including the tubes). We know that the collected Ergo can animate puppets, They are puppeting around their own dead bodies.
Tumblr media
I feel like the Nameless Puppet tells us in a poetic way that Carlo is gone. My thoughts on this are more abstract. Again, this isn't from a factual analysis, but more of from viewing the Nameless Puppet itself as a metaphor. The Nameless puppet has qualities similar to the other undead bosses, yet the game doesn't describe it like it does Victor and the Eldest. It's not a body. It is a puppet [Human on the outside, mechanical on the inside - the inverse of our protagonist]. And straight in the text, we are told this is "The Nameless Puppet". But we know who Carlo was. His name was Carlo. We split open its head, and there are only cold, mechanical parts, instead of what we in the modern world now regard as the very most essential self (the brain). Because there was nothing to recover, there is no one there. Carlo's spirit had long, long since departed the world.
We are also told through one of the game's narrative devices that the Nameless puppet was the first puppet fitted with the organ. Ostensibly, Carlo's body was being prepared for whatever procedure that needed to take place, but Carlo died before that could happen (perhaps thankfully), and Geppetto pushed forward with his plans anyway, perhaps past the point of no return.
There are two forms of revival and we represent one of them, as in, there was the puppet form of Carlo and the undead form of Carlo. Presumably, the undead form was incredibly destructive, and thus stored away; We are the second try for Carlo's rebirth, this time in the puppet form, but we cannot even wake up without the aid of Sophia.
Lies, God, and the Finality of Death
Tumblr media
But doesn't Geppetto actually succeed in one of the endings? Simon fails to become a god, (well, presumably only because we kill him in the process of doing so) and then we confront Geppetto. If we hand over our heart, Geppetto actually does revive Carlo. We see the resurrected Carlo, but with one simple smile we realize this isn't the Carlo the game has been leading us to believe existed. This ending leaves us with distrust and unease rather than a sense of peace and resolution. Simon fails to become a god, and at the bad ending - even if he "wins" - the game makes us wonder if So does Geppetto. No matter what, Carlo could NEVER be truly, and in both senses of the word, honestly, be revived.
[Simon Manus - like Simon Magus, the biblical figure who tries to buy into the supernatural power of God. And Geppetto, of course alluding to the 1883 italian novel The Adventures of Pinocchio - a puppet master, a creator indeed, but of wooden imitations of life, and a poor imitation of God]
So, why I think Carlo could not wake up? Because whatever needed to happen could not be done after the actual point of death, and Sophia and Romeo's hearts were both transferred before they actually died. His spirit had long gone from this world. Krat has methods of eternal life, but these transfers happened while they were still alive. While the alchemists and Geppetto could certainly cheat death (as we maybe even would with modern day medicine), they could not defeat it. Carlo can no longer wake up, Carlo can never wake up again, because he is dead.

── it means everything. (pinocchio x gn! reader)

Tumblr media
You stretch your upper torso in your seat, staring at the pile of papers in front of you. You've just finished writing the second chapter of your book, as well as rewriting the prologue—an effort that consumed your entire day. You glanced at the nearby clock, checking the time. You thought about your puppet partner Pinocchio, it's about time he'd return from a day of stalking. It's getting late at night, the usual time he would come back.
In the meantime- you reach for your cup of tea, sipping it carefully before setting it down on the desk as your gaze drifts to the pile of freshly written papers. Sometimes you wonder why you continue writing your book. Krat is falling apart, after all. It's not the city it once was, the city you had known. What's the meaning?
You were lucky to be saved by Geppetto's puppet amidst the chaos and fortunate not to have contracted the petrification disease. Your near-total lack of self-defense skills makes your survival among the frenzied puppets seem like a miracle. You were hiding beneath a carriage in Elysion Boulevard when P found you and brought you to the refuge known as Hotel Krat, the only safe place left in the decaying city.
As you read through your own writing, paragraph by paragraph, you realize something isn't quite right— the prologue chapter. You think the writing isn't as good as how it was written the first time. You remember losing it while running for your life through Krat, barely managing to stay alive. Maybe that was the cost of being saved by P.
You set the papers aside, feeling an invisible weight settle in your chest. Why do you still write? Why are you still here? You've lost everything—friends, family— all to the petrification disease or the frenzied puppets. Maybe surviving is a curse, to grapple with the guilt of being the only one left.
If Pinocchio hadn’t found you that day, maybe it'd be better off that way. You don't know how much longer you can live like this...
Knock knock.
The soft noise snaps you out of your musing. You quickly run to the door, only to realize tears have been rolling down your cheeks. You hadn't noticed them amidst your thoughts and what-ifs. Quickly wiping them away, you compose yourself. You wouldn't want your puppet partner to see you like this. Despite being a puppet, you treat him as a real boy, even though he's still learning about human emotions. He ventures out daily on errands— navigating the dangerous streets of Krat. While he may not comprehend exhaustion nor fully grasp human feelings just yet, you empathize with his efforts. Despite these differences, you find comfort, sincerity and a sense of belonging in his presence.
You swing the door open, meeting Pinocchio's blue eyes with a forced smile. You try to remain casual, despite the turmoil inside you. "P! You've returned. How was today for you?" you ask, not expecting any verbal response. Pinocchio is a puppet of few words, usually replying with a nod, a shake of his head, or one and two words. Today is no exception, either. He nods with a slight smile, a way of telling you that it was fine. His head soon slightly tilts while pointing his index finger at you, that you interpret as- "What about you?"
"My day was okay. I spent it writing some of my book again," you say. To your surprise, P remains still instead of giving you another nod or smile- now looking at you with what appears to be a small frown.
You rose a brow, "What is it, P?" you ask, not quite understanding his intent. His eyes widen momentarily before he fidgets, struggling to express himself. He points at your eyes, pleading for you to understand. You glance at him, puzzled.
"…My eyes?" you murmur.
P nods almost hesitantly.
"Tired?" he finally speaks, his voice gentle.
"Your eyes… tired?"
You blink slowly, not expecting such a question. Your mind races, searching for a response. The way P's blue eyes implore you only increases your nervousness. "Oh! Yes, must be because I haven't been able to sleep much lately… but don’t worry. I plan on sleeping earlier tonight, though, so don’t you worry!" You laugh lightly, trying to sound casual and lighthearted.
P doesn't appear convinced. He stays motionless, his eyes silently urging you to say more. For a moment, you wonder if he can see through your lie—he's a puppet capable of lying himself, after all.
Before you could say something more, P steps forward and enfolds you in his arms. He pulls you into his embrace. Despite his wooden and steel body, his embrace brings you immense comfort. The weight that has burdened you for weeks—no, months—seems to melt away, at least a little bit of it.
You linger in his embrace for a moment longer before P gently withdraws, yet his grip remains on your shoulders. His expression is filled with genuine concern as he gazes at you.
"You hugged me..? Why?" you ask, feeling a bit self-conscious under his intense scrutiny.
P fidgets, clearly searching for the right words to convey his thoughts. He gestures towards the pile of papers on your desk and then back at you, his eyes brimming with curiosity and hopefulness. "Your writing... important," he says slowly, as if trying out the words to see how they fit.
You blink in surprise. "You think my writing is important?"
He nods. "Yes. It… gives meaning."
A lump forms in your throat as you realize he's trying to tell you that your work, your words, still hold value, even in a crumbling city like Krat. How can he tell? Is your distress so obvious that those around you can easily notice? You feel a little embarrassed at this realization, but P's simple affirmation fills you with a warmth you haven't felt in a long time. Your cheeks warm slightly at his words, and you nod, offering him a gentle smile.
"Thank you, P. That means a lot to me," you whisper, your voice cracking slightly.
P smiles, a rare and genuine expression that lights up his usually stoic face. You know he still struggles to emote, so his smile looks a little awkward, but the effort warms your heart. He gestures towards the pile of papers again and then back at himself, silently asking if he could hear your story.
"You want me… to read it to you?" you ask, a bit taken aback.
He nods again, his eyes bright with anticipation.
"Alright," you say, a small smile tugging at the corners of your lips. "Let's sit over there."
You both move to the small couch in your room. You pick up the papers and sit down, P settling in beside you. The close proximity is comforting, and you feel a sense of calmness wash over you in his presence. As you start reading, P listens intently, his eyes constantly switching from your face to the writing in your hand.
You read aloud, the prologue and chapter one unfolding in the quiet room. P's attention never wavers, and his expressions shift subtly with the spoken narrative. It's endearing to see how engrossed he seems to be at your little story, even though it doesn't feel that much interesting to you. Paragraph by paragraph, the story eventually reaches a tender moment between your characters- a kiss shared under the moonlight. P's eyes lit up with a spark of curiosity flickering in them as you read aloud the scene for him. As you’re about to turn the page, he places a hand on the paper, stopping you.
“Is something the matter, P?” you ask, trying to understand his concern. His index finger points at the word 'kiss' on the paper, looking at you with a curious expression.
"You're asking what a kiss is?" you clarify, trying to make sense of his question. P nods, confirming it.
You pause, taken aback by his curiosity. "A kiss is… well, it's a way to show affection. It's something humans do to express their love and care for each other," you explain, feeling a bit flustered. “And there are various kinds of kisses—romantic and platonic, depending on the context. The kiss shared between my characters here is more like a romantic kiss. It’s shared between lovers, while platonic ones are shared with friends and family…” You speak slowly, hoping he’d understand the explanation.
P nods slowly, processing your words. You can hear his gears ticking a little faster than usual, indicating he's processing all this new information. He seems satisfied with your explanation, treating it with the same seriousness he applies to everything he learns.
Taking his nod as encouragement, you continue reading to him, pausing and slowing down whenever you notice P needing further explanation of certain phrases or sentences. Sometimes, he gently stops you from turning the page if you miss a cue.
As time passes, fatigue catches up with you. Your eyelids grow heavy, and before you know it, you find yourself leaning against P's shoulder, your voice trailing off as sleepiness overtakes you. P notices immediately, glancing down to see you asleep. Gently, he sets the pile of papers aside, ensuring not to disturb you. Leaning back, he gazes down at you sleeping soundly against him while sensing an unfamiliar warmth spreading through his chest. His gears and springs tick a little faster, a new sensation that he finds oddly pleasant.
P watches you sleep, observing how relaxed you look. His human hand gently caresses your cheek, moving a stray strand of hair away from your face. The puppet leans closer, hesitating as his gaze drifts to your forehead. The memory of your explanation about kisses comes to mind. After a brief pause, he cups your cheek in his hand and finally presses a little kiss to your forehead.
As he pulls away, he could feel his mechanical heart's beat slowing down. He hadn't realized they had been ticking a little faster up until then. The now familiar warmth settles in his chest again as he takes in the sight of you sleeping peacefully against him, not fully understanding the gesture yet but liking the feeling of giving you a tender kiss like so.
The chestnut-haired puppet then wraps his arms around you in a protective embrace, holding you close to him as you sleep. In this quiet moment, he feels like he had gained a deeper understanding of human emotions and the connections that bind people together.
Though Krat may be falling apart, in this small, intimate space, there is still peace and comfort.
For now, that's enough—for both you and P.

Adjusted the drawing, but a small concept based on my fanfic in the making 💕
Tumblr media
My fanfic will be a small comic with my alchemist oc included. It goes into the concept of P doing delivery missions, such as giving Krat citizens their last meal before they die to the Petrification Disease. In return, P gains humanity points and ergo crystals from his new friend, Uon the baker.

The Wake of Sir Carlo
This was such a difficult piece to make. The flowers took me HOURS. But I wanted them all to have a deeper meaning suited for Carlo.
Sunflowers for resilience and strength (and my favorite flower). Roses for undying love, a gift from Romeo. Stargazer lilies for innocence and purity (and the games symbolic flower as well). I had the flowers covering his left arm because I have a headcanon that Carlo lost his arm when he died, or his arm was badly infected from petrification disease. This game has so many unanswered question.😑
I know this is a very dark piece and was something that wasn't really planned. It just kind of happened. Would this look better if it were in color? Well, it is in color, I just use black and white filter! 😉😂
Seriously, though, I need to learn how to color and I'm too shy to ask someone to color for me.
Much love❤️

The backhand gesture
Tumblr media
In lies of p this seen is used to justify a ship but as someone who understands the nuance behind what it actually means to "slap away an offered hand" I can't understand how you can be so fucking lost form the story's narrative at this point. First and foremost Krat appears to be a Italian/French/German influenced region but studying it closely it is mealy Italian aristocracy with French/Germain influenced architecture basically your standard china template for South East Europe, which to them is anything that is not china. Back in the 1800's any gesture involving being smacked with the back of a hand was a insult/challenge.
In this reference it was the equalivant of Carlo telling Romeo "I would not fuck your fat mom." Carlo was not being cheeky he was insulting Romeo but what spurred the best of friends to be enemies at this point in time? Many people suspect it was the bosses up to this point being connected directly to Romeo and making a fated effort to try and KILL Carlo leading to the question why? our answer comes from a hidden boss.
Tumblr media
When Geppetto meets his end we see a strange device on his hand; this device seems to control the strings of un-awakened puppets. Since Romeos Court was made of Un-awakened puppets it was a no brainer who was really controlling the strings there. THIS shows us the hidden darker secret. Gepetto put Carlo against Romeo with his actions and we do not discover this fact until we climb the Alchemist tower to save the old man. IF Carlo was killed by the puppet frenzy and not his petrification disease or the Alchemists unfinished experiments it is not a exudation to assume he was killed by his old man. HOWEVER in game notations express that Carlo's death was the trigger point for the Puppet frenzy. Which means that even if was the disease, that at this time was being Amplified by the alchemists to attack the engenders, Carlo was murdered by the Alchemist faction. So when some bozo asked me "did we play the same game" I Played the official "Lies of P" game, I do not know where you are getting your information form. I am just not a lunatic and have a very very traditional East European family. I understand that backhanding an offered hand is a INSULT, and not a being a drama queen insult. At this time in the events of the GAME Carlo is PISSED at Romeo and has no incentive to know that Romeo had no control of his underlings it was mealy a play he was trapped in. Remember Carlo gives him true freedom by putting him out of his missery since he is in pain. "I'm burning up" is not Romeo blushing whatever's left of him that was human was literally catching fire!

what do you think carlo was like, personality-wise? i’m not sure how much has been revealed about him, but i’m fine with either spoilers or headcanons haha
A few things are noted about Carlo by Geppetto and some scenes you see in the game late game area.
When Pinocchio is disobedient to Geppetto he seems almost disgusted that he has inherited Carlo’s personality. Stating he was always a trickster and troublemaker.
In the areas on the alchemist island beach: He seems understandably unhappy about how his father chooses his work over him. But seems eager to do something potentially dangerous and exciting like becoming a stalker.
Even his portrait is pouty and somber. It could be the nature of getting a portrait painted, but even then he seems intentionally painted in a way that makes him look upset.
He even loses his best friend to the petrification disease after it afflicts the Monad charity house.
I think we can also pull personality from everything Pinocchio is not. Pinocchio is quiet and obedient. Gentle in some ways(like with Spring the cat). Geppetto might of modeled Pinocchio after Carlo but Carlo grew to be angry and hurt. While Pinocchio was started as an idealized form of Carlo to Geppetto.
Carlo in my heart is a good and eager boy but with self destructive tendencies and a deep resentful anger. Probably had a wonderful smile to those who knew him closely... Likely pulled pranks with Romeo, cut class, etc.
Like… maybe if Geppetto gave Carlo a hug and didn’t focus on work all the time, we wouldn’t of gotten hit souls-like title Lies of P developed and published by Neowiz games and Round8 studio.

"Carlo...I hope you can hear me. I'm Romeo. We grew up together in the Monad Charity House. Remember? We're best friends! I'm doing what I can to fend off both the Petrification Disease and the Alchemists. My puppets and I are taking a stand against death itself! That's why I tried sending you messengers...but you got rid of them all. You're still an unstoppable fellow. I remember you. No reason for us to fight, I suppose."

Lies of P Timeline
The Lies of P Timeline is insane
Venigni, the genius inventor who made the puppet factory, said he's gathered a lot of titles "in the three decades he's been on earth". Giving a generous estimate of him not counting his early years, and saying he made the puppet factory when twenty,
Puppets have only been in Krat for two decades max
Alchemists came as refugees to Krat 30 years ago
Puppets became normalized in Krat, so they had to be around long enough to stop being a novelty.
At minimum, the golden age of puppets in Krat was one decade
We also know that Venigni went to the factory to shut it down when there were still plenty of people around in the city, and that Stalkers were an active organization, as he still thinks of them as viable for hiring when found.
Venigni entered the factory around the start of the Puppet Frenzy, within the first year of it
Venigni is also still actively trying to hire Stalkers and shut down the factory when found. He hasn't given into despair or fallen apart.
If Venigni is particularly desperate or good at denial, he still likely was only in the factory for maybe three years
Krat became the wasteland that is explored in the game in three or less years
When people in the hotel are talking "oh I wish I could go back to before the petrification disease" they aren't talking about something ancient. They are talking about something at max four years ago, with the puppets going into a frenzy three years ago.
No wonder the people in the city are so messed up, it took the Alchemists so little time to ruin everything

Got around to making my own Lies of P oc since I've been spending my days going through my 4th play through
Anyways this is my stalker oc Lynx
Info under cut:
Lynx
Age: 25
Real Name: Oliver
Info:
Oliver aka Lynx, is a rogue stalker also trying to survive the events that occurred within Krat
Before all of this, Oliver used to be a well known stage actor back in Krat's prime years. He made a name for himself in Rosa Isabelle Street and had everything he could have ever wanted in life up until the petrification disease started to spread more into the city
Oliver unfortunately became one of the other victims to the disease forcing the actor to completely retire from the spotlight
He trained to become a stalker using the knowledge he had from sword training that was originally used for his performances and became Lynx
Lynx has a limited amount of time left and could be cut shorter once the puppet frenzy happened, so his only goal in this city is to find some cure for his disease and leave Krat for good
Other stuff I had in mind:
Lynx is another neutral ally to P
His personality is considered very jaded after the disaster and would still reminisce his glory days back at the opera house performing on the stage again
When Lynx took refuge in the hotel, thanks to the information from P, he prefers not to tell others in the hotel about him being infected except for P once he trust him enough
On first meeting, Lynx would refuse any sort of interaction, not even sparing a glance to others because ever since he got infected, he grew more distant and aloof
His symptoms are somewhat manageable during the events of the game but would have moments where he'd break out into sever coughing
If he were to have a side quest, I could imagine it would be something similar to the Black Cats situation where depending on the choice P makes it could decide his fate
