Thank you so much for indulging me my luff 3: What’s your favorite line of narration?

I’m not sure if I have a favourite, but there are quite a few I’m proud of. Since thefic languished over several months, it gave me more time to develop my visual descriptions which I usually struggle with.

“With Barnum’s imposed presence, Phillip can feel Wallace’s receding, and the relief he feels at Barnum’s appearance can only be equated to that of a storm-beaten ship finally glimpsing the beacon of a lighthouse through the waning maelstrom.”

The fic ended up developing a lot of ship/sea/storm imagery, so I’m also equally quite fond of this one;

“His eyes are dark and salient, and that spectacle looms on the horizon like a brilliant, devastating storm.”

I think it says a lot about Barnum and that contrast of composure and unpredictability.

5: What part was hardest to write? 

Oh christ, all of it? It took so long to finally peice it all together. I think I anguished mostly over the beginning and end; whether it was interesting, relevant, or even how it should play out. But I think the most difficult aspect to write was the through-line of emotional development for Phillip; trying to establish his pre-existing, seemingly one-sided feeling for PT, making the development seem consistent and true to character, and then elevating that in a believable way when they discover their mutual attraction. I’m still not quite sure if I lost that a bit at the end, a part of me feels like I did.

7: Where did the title come from?

I’m genuinely not sure! I usually take inspiration from quotes or lyrics or a line from the fic itself, but this is the first time where I had the fic named first, and then the name got worked in at the end. I believe I called it “Never Far From Reach” before it got changed. I think it fit the whole concept of the story that Phillip and Phineas are never so far apart that they can’t reach the other and support them.

Last song: Uhhhhh so TECHNICALLY the last thing I listened to was a recording I made earlier today of a song I’m working on based on a synth concept album I wrote last year which I’m lowkey trying to make into a musical? The track the song is based on is here!

Proper song wise, though, it was -

Currently reading: I wouldn’t say I’m particularly reading anything at the moment, but the last thing I read was the latest chapter of jamais vu, which is and EXCELLENT fanfic by the wonderful @sunshinedaysforever. And I binge read the whole of Impossible Odds (which is AMAZING) by @fictionpenned a few days back so...that sort of too I guess?

Last movie: I DON’T KNOW sorry these are the worst answers ever but UH. I MEAN I watched a little bit of Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom earlier because my dad called me downstairs to look at the velociraptors? Does it count if I only watched fifteen minutes? And then a few days before that I watched some bits from Monsters vs Aliens (again, my dad was watching it). I uh. Actually don’t remember the last time I watched a whole movie?? 

Currently watching: DOES DOCTOR WHO COUNT EVEN IF WE’RE ON HIATUS AGAIN NOW? OH but actually I was gonna say Revolution of the Daleks was the last thing I sat down and watched in full, but I actually watched an episode of Stargate SG-1 yesterday because me and my dad are rewatching it all, so that!
