I have a really vivid memory of being like around 7 and having to do some kind of “mental health/social studies” class thing, I think mostly “how to manage your emotions” or “how does your body react to X emotion?” and stuff like that, and I remember it was mostly just questions like, “what do you do when you’re angry to manage it?” or “how does your body feel when you’re anxious?” or “who do you ask for help from when you need it?”
And I can’t remember exactly what answers I put but I just remember almost every time, the teacher coming round, looking at what I wrote and going “ummm no I don’t think that’s right 🥰” and NEVER elaborating and just moving on to everyone else’s and going “yes, that’s right!”
I have one memory of stopping the teacher and going “but why” and she just said “It just isn’t!” and then when 7 year old me went “but why” again, she just walked away
?????? I would LOVE to know what I wrote because I am 100% certain childhood me was completely and utterly truthful but also, what was the point in that mandatory class if you’re not going to explain to the kids you’re teaching why how they’re processing their emotions or interacting with the world is wrong
Anyway Alexa play Willard! by Will Wood
#honestly this is a problem I have with the education system in general#Ive had this kind of thing happen a lot#(although specifically when I was a kid and had more balls to constantly ask “but why why why why)#where it’ll give you information and try to teach you shit#but only the BASE level bare minimum of that topic#especially with things like social studies and mental health#but honestly with a lot of academic topics too#it’s like schools try to sum up the world in a 30 minute lesson#and then get surprised and annoyed whenever they’re asked to elaborate#don’t even get me started on the philosophy lessons we had to do for R.E#it was genuinely like ah yes#pick out examples of objective immortality#and instead of like#ACTUAL examples of things that are objectively wrong#like you know#raping children#it was just like#telling a friend’s secret to someone else :(#??????#well what WAS the secret#are they in immediate danger? is someone else in immediate danger?#then YES#you SHOULD tell someone#and that doesn’t make it morally wrong#and when I SAID that#the teacher just went#yes but that’s not really the point is it#???????????#I was 14 and raging#The Education System!!!!!

i have a death note superhero au living in my head but everything i make relating to it sucks so you all just have to trust me on this one okay…
some random stuff i’ve thought of for anyone interested:
light is more of a vigilante who goes by the name of “kira” (shocker). while he typically punishes villains, he does sometimes fight heroes who he deems unworthy of the title. his powers consist of super strength and flight. he gets stronger the longer a battle takes.
misa is a hero who goes by “misa-misa.” her identity is hardly a secret. she does a lot of model/acting work when she’s not fighting crime. her main power is being able to charm people, which she uses to her advantage against her enemies. while she likes to flirt with kira, she’s never used her ability on him.
there are a number of objects (usually jewelry of some kind) dropped by shinigami scattered across the earth. these give the people who pick them up very strong powers. the shinigami can only be seen and heard by the person who possesses their respective object. the shinigami will often stay within the object, but they can come out to protect their owner if they desire.
light and misa both possess shinigami objects. misa had powers before obtaining it. light did not.
L, watari, near, mello, and matt all work for an agency that specializes in superhuman related crimes. the police kinda hate them for taking their cases, but occasionally they work together when the situation calls for it.
L is sort of the head of the agency. near, mello, and matt are all sort of his students (that he makes go out and do jobs for him). his power is being able to transfer his consciousness to other people. he typically uses it to get into the heads of criminals their investigating, and figure out a way to draw a confession out of them (since “i saw it in their brain” usually doesn’t cut it) (even though L could just make the suspect say they did it, he finds it to be cheating and “no fun”). he also transfers his consciousness to watari’s body when he wants to see a crime scene first hand (which has resulted in many instances where his students have found his actual body to be practically a corpse).
watari has healing powers. like i said, L usually has him go on the field for him.
near is able to transform into different people, as long as he knows their name and what they look like. he attended a pretty good school before being selected by L to work with him.
mello is “immortal,” meaning he can’t die until he reaches the end of his own life span. L and watari have kept this a secret from him though, so he is under the impression that he has no power whatsoever. he was picked up by the agency when the rest of his family was caught up in a villain attack, and he was the only survivor among them (i wonder why).
matt is able to hack into technology using his mind. for example, he can view live camera feed by just thinking of the camera he wants to look through (though, he can’t be too far away from it). he attended the same school as near before being selected to work with L.
the agency is trying to investigate kira because he has been almost (and sometimes actually) killing villains and heroes, and he’s not registered in their database (which all people with superpowers have to do). light just thinks it’s cool he has powers and he can do something about those who hurt people. it’s basically just the plot of death note but everyone has supernatural abilities.
this is all a work in progress and i’m writing half of this stuff down as i think of it but i think it’s a cool idea?? i don’t know???

Immortal GIGS Crew Phasmophobia AU
GIGS phasmo AU where they're basically just a group of retired immortals having fun :D
Impulse and Skizz started working for this ghost hunting company, and since they can't die, instead of reading the manual they decided to just fuck around and find out.
In truth, they kinda just showed up and started taking jobs. The company was gonna find these intruders and punish them at first, but when the spectacular results started coming in, the higher-ups hesitantly decided to let it go, since none of their actual employees were brave enough to take the cases Impulse and Skizz did.
Eventually, their results from one investigation were left with a letter requesting payment, since they didn't wanna keep using the cheap starter equipment in the van they "borrowed." So if the company slips an envelope full of cash into their own mailbox every time they receive a report for the mystery workers to take, and sometimes equipment disappears from storage with cash in its place, they simply would look the other way.
Later they drag Grian, Scar, and Gem into their shenanigans and they also fuck around and find out.
To the company, the GIGS Crew is their best team, even if they don't know much about them. They always take their hardest, most fatal jobs, and walk out completely fine.
Little do they know these eldritch entities die repeatedly and they scream like little girls. What is considered an almost certainly fatal job for any regular person, is just a game to the GIGS.
For example, all manuals say to snap pictures of cursed items, and safely return them to HQ to be disposed of in a contained area. GIGS crew though? None of them have the self control to not use those. Every single one of them would pull every tarot card for fun and you know it. Manual says to under no circumstances touch a summoning circle. GIGS does not read the manual.
They even set some rules early on, afterall this is a game to them, and what fun is a game if you can't die? So essentially they declared that if a ghost was to hit you with what would be a killing blow, you have to go into spectral form, in which you detach from your body and hover about like a spectator. Think Dr. Strange. The only thing they're allowed to do in this form is pick stray items up, and if everyone "dies" they have to jump ship and come back again later.
They can be 'revived' by the monkey paw or something too. Thing is, despite the fact that they don't need to, they still say, "I wish for Life," before the 'dead' person returns to their body. If this causes some recently dead guy a block away to suddenly wake up fine, sue them. They're causing miracles over here, be grateful!
Now imagine something happens one day that causes a human mortal that also works for the company in some regard to bare witness to GIGS' unhinged method of investigation. They're playing with cursed objects like toys, purposefully triggering hunts, and—
Unnamed is sitting in the van watching the camera closely when it happens. They've been tasked as a fifth, no wait, sixth member of the legendary GIGS crew for the day, since there's apparently a girl named Gem that subs in for Scar half the time. They're thinking that, sure, this team's been a bit reckless so far, but who are they to judge? These guys are THE professionals, after all. However, this viewpoint quickly gets decimated.
"HahAHA Scar's dead!" Unnamed's head snaps up at Grian's outburst. They, being the normal person they are, respond reasonably, "Wait, agent Scar is dead-?!" A pause followed by a realization, "Why the hell are you laughing-?!"
Grian, who came back into the van for candles since they were going to do an Onryo test before it started hunting, suddenly remembers that humans don't think death is funny. Right. Need to fix that slip up.
"Uhm... out of shock, I think?" Wow, A+ excuse, he mentally berates himself. Think Grian, think! Humans have that thing called grief, right? And isn't the first stage of that denial? Bingo! "I.. I'm sorry, I think I'm just.. in denial?" Grian wants to slap himself. Great idea, horrible execution. Unnamed clearly didn't buy it.
Thankfully, that mess was interrupted, "Hey guys, I found the monkey paw. Should I use it to bring Scar back?" Impulse says over the radio. Skizz and Grian are quick to agree, the latter also using the distraction to rush out of the van and that conversation with the candles.
It takes a moment to click, but Unnamed suddenly realizes, "Wait, are you guys gonna use a cursed item to bring Agent Scar back-?! Look, I know you all are mourning, but that is under all circumstances forbidden!" They take a breath in disbelief, "That could have unforeseen consequences!"
Skizz pipes up, not even trying to be subtle, "Well, duh. The consequences are what makes it fun!" Unnamed is interrupted by Impulse before they can rant about how bad of an idea this is—, "Yeah you say that until you're the one that has to deal with them," he chuckles.
Skizz, in blind yet playful rage, bites the bait, "Fine then! Give me the monkey paw, and I'll wish Scar back to life myself!"
Skizz does this and dies, and they can practically hear him complaining from beyond the grave. Impulse snaps a picture of his corpse as they make fun of the position he's in, his back bent backward. Unnamed is frozen in shock in the van as they listen to Skizz's friends, including a newly revived Scar, laugh at their own friend's demise. Oh god, they're surrounded by psychopaths. These guys take all the hardest jobs, of course they've gone crazy—
Unnamed, after spiraling for an unknown amount of time, looks over to the activity chart to see that there is a hunt going on. This gives them some time to collect their thoughts, only for that little composure to immediately be shattered when as soon as the hunt ends, Grian barks out a laugh, "Oh Scar! He's died AGAIN!", "Oh nooo!" Impulse follows along with a chuckle. Unnamed is on the verge of hyperventilating.
The two remaining GIGS return to the van and ignore Unnamed's impending panic attack. Grian tells Impulse that the hunt started right after the third candle blew out, so he thinks it's an Onryo. "I mean we do already have orbs, but I wasn't getting freezing temps and that ghost just wasn't answering spirit box." Impulse counters.
"Listen, I know I was spirit boxin' it pretty good,"—Unnamed shudders at that. The second-hand cringe they felt listening to Grian's "WHERE ARE YOUUU-?!" was indescribable—"but my gut is really telling me it's an Onryo! Besides, we've had ghosts that just refused to talk before."
"Your gut is usually right," Impulse mutters. "Look, we've got one of two evidence and a successful Onryo test, so I say we gag since Scar and Skizz are dead." Grian says. Impulse still looks unsure, "I just feel like it's too soon. One evidence is hardly enough, and that Onryo test could be a fluke."
They have completely forgotten Unnamed is there at this point, and they don't exactly feel like attracting attention to themself as they wilt like a flower in the corner, pondering their life choices.
Grian relents a bit, "Okay how about this, we ask Scar and Skizz if we should gag or continue investigating, fair?" Impulse nods, "Fair."
Unnamed looks up a little, concerned on how exactly they plan to consult their dead friends. They're beginning to think there's a high likelihood they'll quit tonight, and they're definitely going to need a therapist after all this.
Impulse speaks up over the radio despite them all being in the truck, "Alright guys, come get your clipboards!" Unnamed stares on in something akin to horror as two of the clipboards up on the wall start hovering. Impulse's voice is somehow too loud and too quiet at the same time, "Alright, throw your clipboards on the keyboard if we should continue, and throw them on the floor if we should gag."
Both clipboards are now being repeatedly picked up and tossed on the floor of the van by an invisible force. 'Forces,' they correct themself mentally, as it slowly dawns on them that these ghosts are actually Scar and Skizz, and isn't THAT a mind-twister?
Impulse looks slightly disappointed but smiles good-naturedly anyway, "You guys wanna gag? Alrighty then, check off Onryo and let's go!"
This is the moment that Impulse suddenly remembers Unnamed's existence, looking slightly worried at their lack of input, "You okay?" He turns his head, "Grian don't go yet, Unnamed hasn't given their opinion." Grian grumbles out a 'fine', and Impulse looks back at them, "You wanna gag, or should we contin–" Unnamed interrupts, "Just get me outta here please," they near-whisper.
Impulse looks them over and remembers that humans aren't meant to be that pale and hesitantly asks, "You uh... feeling sick?" He looks over to Grian for help, and Unnamed could swear they heard Grian sassily mumble, "Don't look at me, I dunno how humans work either," but they had to be hearing things, because that just doesn't make sense, surely.
"Impulse, lets just go and pass Unnamed onto someone who actually knows what they're doing," Grian grumbles, clearly frustrated. Impulse still looks concerned (at least he's trying), but concedes since, yeah, they really don't know what they're doing, do they?
As Grian starts the truck, Unnamed notices that Scar and Skizz's bodies are suddenly in the truck. Did– did Grian leave while Impulse looked them over? That had only lasted for a few seconds though, Grian couldn't possibly have dragged them in in that time, could he? It's like they were just teleported in here. Unnamed is really going to need that therapist, and maybe some kind of hallucination medication too...
While staring into space and down at the keyboard in misery, Unnamed distantly hears the sounds of someone cracking their joints and grunting noises to accompany it. They fully snap to attention, however, when they hear the people's voices.
Scar makes a sound of discomfort as he snaps his neck back into place, "Oh void, gonna feel that in the mornin'," he mutters to himself. Skizz on the other hand lets out a whoop at the satisfying crack in his back, before immediately thrusting into bickering with Impulse.
"Dipple-Dop, you killed me!" Skizz exclaims, and Unnamed gets the feeling that they should cover their ears, like a child does when their parents fight. "ME-?! You're the one who used the monkey paw!" Impulse retorts. Skizz, "Well, you shouldn't have given it to me!" Impulse, "But you literally asked me for it!" Skizz, "Well, I wouldn't have if you didn't instigate me!" Impulse, "Oh, come on! You..."
Unnamed tunes them out and focuses on Scar and Grian, all thoughts having left their head out of pure shock, believing this must be some twisted fever dream. It makes sense, they think, they have been tasked with reviewing GIGS' reports for the past month after all.
In truth, the only reason Unnamed is here in the first place is because Skizz didn't read a form before signing it. With their previous check, GIGS received a form that was asking about sending someone to monitor and review their methods and see if they're fit to formally become employees. It was really just an effort to get to know something about these mysterious volunteers, though.
Skizz, however, just skimmed the part gushing about how much the company appreciates their hard work and the benefits of becoming real hires, not actually reading the part about the employee evaluation, assuming they were just going to get the rewards. He signed it and wrote down the GIGS Crew email address he created a minute ago, hence why Unnamed is now here. Yippie.
They tune into Grian and Scar's conversation as they vaguely register Impulse and Skizz's continued, albeit quieter, bickering in the background. Scar is griping about the crick in his neck, "Why do you guys always have to leave a guy in the most uncomfortable positions, huh?" Grian responds blunty with zero hesitation, "Because it's funny," he snorts.
Unnamed tunes them out too as their brain starts to reboot enough to process that they are supposed to be dead. Why are they not dead-?!
Grian notices Unnamed staring in the corner and clears his throat above everyone else's chatter, making a gesture towards them once he has their attention. Unnamed can feel their heart sink straight through the floor, and a metaphorical noose tighten around their neck.
He looks over at Scar and Skizz, "You two really couldn't wait to get back up, could you? Remember, we. have. COMPANY!" Grian punctuates each word in that statement with a clap.
The two sheepishly look over at Unnamed while Impulse looks mildly panicked. Scar and Impulse were cooking up some half-baked excuses, and Skizz is malfunctioning when Grian sighs and relents a bit, "Okay, we're really not being that subtle anyway, are we?"
Scar is spewing a ridiculous explanation in the background, "They uh, shocked us back to life while you weren't looking, yeah!" A whisper from Skizz shuts him up, "I'm no expert, but I don't think that's how that works, buddy." Scar deflates a bit, "But that's all I've got..." Skizz rubs a comforting hand on his back, "I know, dude, at least ya' tried."
Before Unnamed can get enough of a grip on themself and ask what in the hell is happening, the ride ends, simultaneously having taken an eternity and also been way too short.
Grian slips out of the driver seat and ushers them outside quickly, them now standing in front of the company's main building looking lost. "Wait!" Impulse stops Grian from driving off, "You forgot your employee evaluation sheet. It looks oddly blank..." Impulse trails off before snapping out of his stupor, "Sorry! Didn't mean to pry. I'm probably not meant to read that, huh?" He slips the report into Unnamed's hand when they don't take it on their own.
"Oh, and would you mind taking in our report for this job too?" Despite the lack of a response, Impulse slips the report into their hands anyway, "Thanks, pleasure working with you! Sorry for any disturbances we many of caused." Impulse calls out as he steps back into the vehicle, Grian driving away as soon as the door closes, as if driving away will solve all their problems.
Unnamed starts to mindlessly wander inside the building, robotically turning in the report and submitting their evaluation sheet for review, one to the standard job review department and one to HQ. 'It really is a bit blank, huh?' They think passively. They're not really there, still feeling like they're floating in nothingness, but it's the first coherent thought they've had regarding reality in a while, so they'll take anything at this point.
Before they know it, they've found their way into the overnight stay room. Most investigations occur at night, so they have two rooms with sectioned off areas, each area containing a twin bed and a nightstand. It would look uncannily like a hospital if the nightstands were metal instead of wood.
They look up at the clock in the room and distantly note that its 2:17 am. Barely acknowledging that, they ungracefully flop onto the nearest available bed and pass out unceremoniously, not even taking off their shoes. The last thing to cross their mind before drifting off into a dreamless sleep is absolute certainty that this must just be a really strange nightmare induced by lack of proper sleep, and with that, they are at peace.
~
Unnamed hazily blinks their eyes open the next morning to see a silhouette sitting on their bedside, vaguely recognizing them as their friend, Unidentified. They can't focus on that though, only signing in relief now that that disturbing dream was over, writing it off as nerves for the upcoming job with GIGS. They're probably completely normal people, if a bit unorthodox.
This illusion is quickly shattered, though, because as soon as Unnamed is conscious enough to listen, their friend speaks, "So, how was it?" Unidentified stares at them with clear excitement, bouncing up and down a bit where they sat.
Unnamed, still pitifully oblivious, tilts their head in confusion, "How was what?" It's Unidentified's turn to be confused, "What do you mean, 'How was what?' The job with GIGS, obviously!" Unidentified exclaims incredulously.
Unnamed's face slowly morphs into one of unbridled horror as they realize that that wasn't a dream.
The next thing they know, they've sat up, fully awake, getting up and brushing themself off. Unidentified quickly switches from excited to worried, "Unnamed, are you okay?"
Unnamed can barely recall how to string together the sounds they call language to reply, "Yeah, I uh... I just need to go report something to HQ." Before Unidentified can respond, Unnamed has rushed out the door, straightening out their attire so that they look at least somewhat presentable in front of the company's head.
They file a request for an immediate meeting with the higher-ups, stressing the importance of it. They add that it has to do with Team GIGS as an afterthought, hoping it'll peak their curiosity.
And so Unnamed sits there, standing in the lobby with pumping adrenaline as they come to terms with a stark truth:
The GIGS crew is not human.

Bonuses!
POV GIGS Before:
"Look, Grian, I know you don't wanna leave the van, but this time you have to!" Impulse tries to reason, though he knows he's fighting a losing battle.
Grian refuses to relent, gaze boring into Impulse with several Eyes, "But whyyyy?!"
Impulse lets out an exhausted sigh, he's been at this for a while, "You know why, an inspector is going to be hunting with us this time, and they're human! We have to give them van duty or else they could die in the house. Like actually die."
Grian let's out an indignant whine, his wings puffing out in defiance, "And? There's gonna be five of us, can't we both just be in the van or something?"
"Grian, you and I both know that out of everyone here, except for maybe Gem, you get along with humans the least. You don't even try to be friendly!" Impulse counters. He can see Grian's resolve beginning to falter as he continues, "You don't wanna be stuck in the van with a 'strange mortal' the whole time, do you?" He uses air quotes, trying to speak Grian's language, and it's working.
Grian visibly deflates a little bit, crossing his arms and looking away as he bites out a bitter, "no." He's staring with only two eyes now, so that's progress Impulse thinks.
Skizz finally cuts in, not having wanted to get involved when Grian was still yelling, but will now that he's somewhat calm, "Listen buddy, it's not like you've never left the van before! You do it whenever Gemstone joins us, and sometimes when a bunch of us are dead!" Skizz chuckles a bit, "It's nothin' you haven't done before, G-Sharp."
Grian fully deflates this time, tension releasing from his body as looks at his feet and heaves a sigh of his own, "Fiiiine. The stupid human can have the vaaaan." He pouts, but it's the best they're going to get so they take it.
Impulse finally lets out a breath of relief, glad that he's avoided the possible murder of their inspector. Void, he really feels like a single mom sometimes.
~•~
POV GIGS After:
Grian is most definitely driving faster than the speed limit allows, not that he particularly cares. That went horribly, the human saw Scar and Skizz revive themselves for Void's sake!
In truth, they were never really dead. They really just couldn't bend their death-related rules they set for a day, huh? He has the urge to bury his face in the steering wheel as he drives. "This is why I avoid mortals," he grumbles to himself.
~
When they arrive at their designated "ghost hunting lobby," as they call it, they all devolve into various states of stress.
Grian face-plants into sofa and screams into a throw pillow, Eyes forming and popping around his head like lava. Impulse is pacing around the room like a maniac, pointed tail swishing back and forth in distress. Scar sits on the armchair, fiddling with his cane and pushing a hand through his hair, his eyes practically stapled open, gazing into space. Skizz just kind of stands there, his tail also swishing in anxiety as he dreads the inevitable.
Scar finally shatters the silence, "Now, I don't wanna point fingers, but," he points at Skizz, "kinda your fault, Skizz." There it is, there's what Skizz was dreading.
He tries to defend himself anyways, "Alright listen, I know that most of this is my fault for signing that dumb form, but you can't deny that we all messed up at least a little bit."
Impulse stops pacing at that. Grian doesn't move from his misery on the sofa, not reacting at all.
"I- yeah, Skizz is right. We all kind of screwed up. I think our main problem was how casually we acknowledged death. It's surprisingly easy to forget that humans don't view life as a game..." Impulse rubs the back of his neck, guilty.
Skizz still looks apologetic though, "Yeah, just know I'm really sorry about that. Maybe don't put me on mail duty anymore."
Scar stands up, his skin having taken on a blue blue sheen, his edges a little sharper, and small translucent wings behind him. "It's okay man, I probably would have done the same thing," he picks up a Jellie that's winding in between his legs, "plus we both kinda revived while Unnamed was right there, so you can't take all the blame for that."
"Thanks dude, that means a lot." Skizz slings an arm over Scar's shoulder.
Grian finally sits up, "So what happens now?" All heads turn to him, their stares questioning.
Eyes have never bothered Grian, since he has more of them, so he stands up fully and elaborates, "Well, within the next few days, the company is gonna know we're not human. What exactly do we do now?" A contemplating pause followed by a sad voice, "Do we... have to quit ghost hunting?"
The room goes deathly quiet. They... didn't think about that. Even Skizz and Scar look crestfallen. It's Impulse who pipes up, "No, we don't." he says surprisingly self-assured, all eyes now on him.
Impulse continues on, "I mean, Skizz and I just kinda showed up one day and they couldn't get rid of us, them knowing what we are isn't gonna change that. How exactly would they stop us?" The crew looks a little less depressed at that.
"Plus," Impulse looks hesitant for a moment, "Unnamed's reaction to death reminded me of how fragile human life really is, so even if we're only doing this for fun," he looks to each of them, "it makes me feel like we're protecting them, even if just by taking the lethal jobs."
Skizz perks up at the notion, and Scar breaks out into a grin, waltzing over to Impulse and slinging an arm over his shoulder. Jellie wanders off to go paw at Grian, who's sat back down, still squeezing that throw pillow.
Scar has regained his aura of grandeur, as he joins Impulse in cheering them up, "Yeah, I like that! We're helping by dying where they can't!" He looks very excited at the thought.
It's Skizz's turn to join the building huddle, an arm finding it's way on Impulse's other shoulder. "Oh yeah! Good guy Skizzleman, saving mortals from the horrors of death!" He pumps a fist in the air.
Grian gets up, Jellie trailing behind, and reluctantly joins the hug, arms around Scar and Skizz and his wings around all of them. "I don't care what happens to those humans, but whatever," grian mumbles. Impulse just smiles fondly at him, because despite how he pretends not to, Impulse can see just how much Grian truly cares. He doesn't have to understand mortals to care for them.
The soft moment is interrupted by a ding from Skizz's phone. They untangle their arms as Skizz checks what it is.
He perks up excitedly, "Oh, it's our report's review for the job!" He chuckles a bit, "If one good thing came out of signing that form, it's that we now get almost instant results!"
He clicks on the email, eager to see if they guessed right. Spoiler, they did not.
"What-?!" His face contorts to one of disbelief, "A Mare-?! How?" Grian shoots up at Skizz's outburst, clearly upset.
"What-?! Yeah how-?! That thing wasn't turning off any lights!" He squawks indignantly, a few Eyes floating over Skizz's shoulder to read it himself.
Scar looks wholly unaffected, "Eh, I don't really know how we got Onryo in the first place, I was too busy being dead."
Impulse seems to slowly come to a conclusion, "Well, if you think about it, we weren't really turning the lights on to begin with," his voice picks up a bit, "We were putting so many candles out for the Onryo test, that—"
Skizz finishes, "We stopped turning on the breaker 'cause the candlelight was enough!"
None of them have to turn around to see Grian facepalming, the scream of frustration enough for them to paint that picture themselves, "I hate this game!"
Grian isn't done with his rampage, "But wait, doesn't Mare also need spirit box?" He looks to Impulse for confirmation, and continues once he gets a nod, "But I did spirit box so well though! I had great coverage."
Impulse puts up a hand placatingly, "Yeah, I agree, you did spirit box pretty good, but we were on Nightmare, so spirit box probably just probably wasn't one of the two random evidence."
Grian crosses his arms, "Or maybe it's because someone," he casts a glare at Impulse, though he means nothing malicious by it, "just had to prestige, leaving us with shoddy level 1 equipment." He sighs however, "But you're probably right. We didn't really look that hard for Ghost Writing, did we?"
He wanders off to grumble to himself a little longer, and they all laugh at Grian's pity-party. They end up sitting on sofa together for a while, just chatting about things they couldn't talk about while Unnamed was there.
Impulse is telling a story from Hermitcraft earlier that day, but he stops when Gem comes up in it, paling, "Oh Void..."
Impulse's face unravels into one of dread, a realization forming, "Gem's gonna smack us all upside the head for this." Oh. Oh no. They all shudder in unison. They're screwed.

I can't reply to your post but hello if you want to talk about it i would love to hear EVERYTHING about your thoughts on x men mutants dmbj 👀
I'M MAKING THIS A POST BECAUSE I WANT TO SCREAM ABOUT IT TO AS MANY PEOPLE AS WILL LISTEN. Thank you for giving me this opportunity to yell into the void.
So this isn't an X-Mn AU as much as it is a mutant AU because I think mutants fit really well into the DMBJ universe! Many mutants live and work on the outskirts of society, and the tombs welcome those kinds of outcasts. I also think it would be cool to see teams of graverobbers that have a lot of morlock-types, too. Because this is a place where their powers are useful and can potentially make them money in a world that is otherwise inhospitable. I feel like DMBJ has always written graverobbing as a society outside of society.
I have SO many mutant AUS. So. Many. I have a whole different Pangxie one, but this is the big one that I have that I might actually write.
First and foremost, the M9 are families with generations of mutants who got rich graverobbing who have mutations that are just inherently useful in the tombs AND that allow them to pass as non-mutant. I've been cooking up power groups for the different families but would love input!
Wu Xie: Kate Pryde/Shadowcat
> The ability to phase through objects, walls, and people/intangibility. Disrupts electrical fields. Slight levitation.
I imagine the Wu's having powers along this vein: intangibility, like Wu Xie, some have teleportation (I have another AU where he has Kurt's powers lol), and the like. Obviously, these kinds of powers are just OP in tombs. Being able to phase yourself through walls and potentially through any dangerous traps is a god send, you can understand how with powers like that the Wu's became so wealthy. You can get in and out of there in no time. But have no fear! Wu Xie figures out how to make such a powerful tool into a weapon to use against himself and others completely on accident. You can have intangibility but that doesn't cancel out being clumsy and having rotten luck. I think it could also be interesting for him to still be working out how to use his powers in this context for the first few years and then we see him being an old hat at it in his later years.
(Now, these were NOT selected because of any connection between the characters. It's truly a "I wonder how these characters would utilize these powers" kind of deal, not because I think the characters are alike. HOWEVER, I do think the comparison between the two characters is kind of interesting just because there is the stark development from the naive, bright eyed younger versions of those characters who develop into darker, more jaded people. People who have killed. People who will kill again. And all that.)
Pangzi: Colossus
> Body turns to "organic steel" giving him super strength, endurance, and speed. I've been debating making it so instead of being able to turn his body to metal he is simply metal all the time, unlike Piotr. I haven't decided, though.
Stay with me, here: statuesque, shiny, super strong Pangzi. See, you like it, too! You see the vision! Pangzi already has canonical near-super strength, I see no reason not to make it official. IIRC, Colossus is also, like, Heavier. 500 pounds heavy. So it would make those "you're too heavy" comments they always give Pangzi hold a little more weight (ha). It's a power that would come in handy as a tank in a tomb but also come with its own set of complications, too, that I think would be fun to explore. For example, in TLT2, they do a lot of swimming- in his metal form, Colossus can't swim, he sinks.
(I know it LOOKS like I picked Colossus for Pangzi because I picked Kitty for Wu Xie. I promise I didn't. If for no other reason Pangxie actually STAY married.)
Xiaoge: Wolvrine.
> Do I need to explain this one? Immortality, super healing, adamantium skeleton (given to him by the Zhangs), cool knife hands.
I may have a love/hate relationship with Logan but my love for Xiaoge is pure and never ending. Alas, they do have the shared life experience of being old as balls and having the memories of swiss cheese.
There's something about Xiaoge having this power set and going through incredible trials to become the man he is today that just make Sense for Zhang Qiling to me. He was chosen because of who he is, WHAT he is. He's been boiled down to what he can do and used as a weapon, a tool in a lot of ways. He also has such a complicated relationship with death and dying, something that adds flavor to his title to me? (Has Logan ever met death? I know Wade has a whole relationship with her, and he got his powers from Logan's DNA. Xiaoge having met death would be FASCINATING.)
And? Honestly? I just think Xiaoge should have blades in his knuckles, that just sounds dope as hell and he deserves them.
I know them having these powers takes away some of the DANGER involved in the series. They are way, way less likely to die- which, to me, just means the tombs should try harder.
Also debating between making Hei Xiazi Mystique (the POTENTIAL of him being a shapeshifter is OFF THE CHARTS, plus she is already immortal) or Destiny (precognition, blind character who is able to "see" because she is able to see the future a few seconds ahead). Both are juicy.
I would love to talk to people about this, about other versions of this AU, about places you agree/disagree, anything and everything. DM me? We can chat here or on discord!
#i am so sorry super hero people if this ends up in your tags#this is about beloved tomb idiots#wang pangzi#wu xie#xiaoge#zhang qiling#dmbj#mine

Not quite sure how to structure this as an ask, but I had a few more curiosities about Blake's mutation and how it manifests (and no worries if you can't answer some of these - some of em are a little weird)
How would Blake's mutation interact with biological energy that "loops", like the immortal jellyfish or a mutant with a similar ability?
Can Blake's power be overwhelmed by another power (i.e. are there some omega-level mutants that straight-up would not be affected at all, as opposed to the mutants with a high regeneration that would be able to shrug it off)?
How would a character like Darwin be affected by Blake's mutation - what would the natural defense to his ability be?
If Blake can sense biological energy even in organisms that are petrified or preserved, how would he experience walking into a cemetery or natural history museum?
Does Blake's sense also extend to traits of an organism, or just the part of the organism that we generally deem "alive" - i.e., if he encountered a snakeskin or cicada shell, or the shed velvet from a deer's antlers, other "refuse" dropped by the organism within its natural life cycle, would he still get a signal from that? Or is it linked to the organism's life itself, and when those traits are dropped they cease being a part of the original organism in a way? (sorry if that's a confusing explanation, and I know it doesn't make sense biologically-speaking, but I wonder about "logic-defying" traits when it comes to things like superpowers)
By a similar token, what about traits that are adopted by another organism? The shells a hermit crab claims - or what about when a hermit crab makes a mistake and claims a plastic cup as a shell, something non-biological that it still makes into a part of itself, would the energy transfer over? What about the artificial reefs that have been created to slow coral death - not biological themselves, but interwoven with biology, would any of that energy transfer over or would it remain separate?
How would Blake's sense interact with a biological sentience contained within a non-biological form - like Mojo when he overtakes a piece of tech, or a character like Vision who is entirely sentient and "alive" but not biological in nature? Is Blake's sense confined to the presence of biological cells, or is it a bit more "mystical" in what it deems to be alive?
DANG these are some good questions! I had to take a contemplative walk to figure out some of my answers... let's get cracking!
I think it would accelerate that looping- if he focused his power on it, you'd see the jellyfish go through its lifecycle over and over extremely rapidly.
Oh, definitely. However, Blake's energy reserves would probably get depleted way before it would get to a serious clash, if that makes sense. It wouldn't take that much resistance to overcome Blake's powers if you were omega-level, just a bit of endurance.
Ooh, this is a great one. Perhaps his cells would regenerate fast enough to negate the damage. In a normal person this would probably result in Blake inducing whatever kind of cancer they're most genetically susceptible to, but I assume that isn't an issue for Darwin.
It would feel like being underwater, for the most part. It's a similar feeling to organic matter that isn't living, per se. An echo of something long gone. As for a cemetery, his senses would be focused on the detritivores and plant life rather than the dead bodies themselves.
I think he can absolutely get a signal from those things, but it wouldn't be strong enough for him to affect them in any way. It would also depend on how recently the object has been connected to an organism- for example, he can ripen fruit that's been picked a week before.
I absolutely think there's a more mystical, folklore-ish element to Blake's powers- I think this would also connect with chronology. The longer something technically artificial is intertwined with biological life, the stronger Blake can sense it. He could probably sense a sunken ship that's become a fish habitat for the past 100 years, for example.
Hmm, I think Blake's powers are more restricted when it comes to sentience. He would be much more likely to sense, say, a microorganism (that we probably wouldn't consider sentient) than something like Vision that's "alive". However, if something like that was intertwined with an ecosystem for long enough... maybe it could happen in very rare cases.

I have been holding on to this design for a little while now. Thinking about how best to deliver how I changed the character and if I did enough.
I really want to get to clearing my 'to post' folder out. So I guess its better now than never.
This is Dr. Jair Shimmer a rewrite for SCP 963. Ignore that this is almost the exact same design in my Clight artwork; I liked the design so I kept it.
His main gimmick is that he study cursed object not just 963. He wears many curse object regardless of moral or ethical reasons against it. His office is chalk full of them, enter at your own caution.
SCP 963 isnt to much changed from base one, only thing is the souls in the amulet can be retrieve. Very hard thing to do and Shimmer needs to do that action all on there own and he kinda does not care to do that.
I do want to make more bodies for Shimmer but Im very busy and Im scared to draw women.
Past Keep Reading is just headcanons (do I even call them that at this point?)
The amulet is made of out silver, Red Beryl/Bixbite, and different colored sapphires.
While I am using He/Him in this post, Shimmer is a genderfluid, pansexual, panromantic with any pronouns as long as your not taking the piss out of him
Despite shipping war, Shimmer is with Glass, Clef, and Kondraki. Sometime all at once.
He use to be cautious around cursed objects, but after 963 he started to become reckless knowing he'd always come back after the Foundation found him
963 works a little differently on how is possess someone. All it needed was an initial soul trap and the next person to pick it up will be possessed. If Shimmer kills themselves the curse is kinda broken, he would just be in the amulet and the next person to pick it up is the knew host.
So Able is out of the story.
Shimmer just touched it and became the host.
How he found out about SCP 963 abilities is a informant apart of a different GoI stabbed him in the back cause they thought Shimmer was getting to close to figuring out why they were in the Foundation in the first place
Shimmer went to Deer College to get a degree in Magic and Curses
Shimmer can see, read, and understand magic in objects and crystals but he himself is not a wizard/witch/Type Blue/ect.
He's a lot calmer here with a stern voice, though he still tells jokes when he feel in danger. Force of habit.
I wanted to keep this as I think it gives some good worldbuilding to the Foundation daily life. He does facilitate a betting ring for literally anything. You could put a bet on if the kitchen will be destroyed in the next breach or not.
Shimmer likes to see the personnel fight when bets don't go their way.
Where is Shimmer get money to pay back people? Who knows.
Shimmer has yet to see the gravity of immortality. He's in the phase of getting sick of dying but still careless with his bodies and "clones."
Oh yeah the Clones! How the amulet after a month could be taken off and put on another person? Well the Foundation uses that to their benefit instead of killing them. More bodies that can work on higher clearance levels stuff.
Shimmer can take of the amulet before the end of the month and still retain his body.
I also wanted to keep the Personnel Director position. I like him having all the information on the Personnel of the Sites he is place in. It could cause tension between characters if they fine out about Shimmer knowing those things or it could show how much they care about friends with this information. Example for both: Clef
I want to do the rest of the Family as well but its still a wip. But I will say I wanted to explore ableism as a defining problem for the family in its dysfunction
If I remember or figure out anymore I'll come back here maybe.

The Glass Town Game. By Catherynne M. Valente. Margaret K. McElderry Books, 2017.
Rating: 4/5 stars
Genre: YA historical fiction
Series: N/A
Summary: Inside a small Yorkshire parsonage, Charlotte, Branwell, Emily, and Anne Brontë have invented a game called Glass Town, where their toy soldiers fight Napoleon and no one dies. This make-believe land helps the four escape from a harsh reality: Charlotte and Emily are being sent away to a dangerous boarding school, a school they might not return from. But on this Beastliest Day, the day Anne and Branwell walk their sisters to the train station, something incredible happens: the train whisks them all away to a real Glass Town, and the children trade the moors for a wonderland all their own.
This is their Glass Town, exactly like they envisioned it…almost. They certainly never gave Napoleon a fire-breathing porcelain rooster instead of a horse. And their soldiers can die; wars are fought over the potion that raises the dead, a potion Anne would very much like to bring back to England. But when Anne and Branwell are kidnapped, Charlotte and Emily must find a way to save their siblings. Can two English girls stand against Napoleon’s armies, especially now that he has a new weapon from the real world? And if he escapes Glass Town, will England ever be safe again?
Together the Brontë siblings must battle with a world of their own creation if they are to make it back to England alive in this magical celebration of authorship, creativity, and classic literature from award-winning author Catherynne M. Valente.
***Full review below.***
CONTENT WARNINGS: references to child hunger/neglect, blood, death of a child, reference to suicide
OVERVIEW: I happened upon this book by chance at my local used book store. I do love the Brontës, and I've been hit or miss with Valente's works, so I took a chance and picked it up. Overall, I found it to be a delightful little fantasy story in the vein of Alice in Wonderland or The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe. It was whimsical in the way that Valente is good at, and it had some truly heartfelt moments about death, war, and good vs bad. The only reason I'm giving it 4 stars is because I think it went overlong. Some scenes were absolutely drawn out more than they should have been, which makes this book at times feel self-indulgent.
WRITING: Valente's prose in this book takes on the tenor of a fairy tale or old-timey children's book. It's whimsical and bright, and it doesn't concern itself with trying to be anything other than clear and creative. I really loved the imaginative work and wit put into this story, taking the ideas from the Brontë children and making it come alive with Valente's own style.
I do think, however, that portions of this book tended to be self-indulgent, reveling in its own cleverness to the point where scenes stretched on overlong and the pace slowed.
PLOT: The plot of this book follows the four Brontë siblings - Charlotte, Branwell, Emily, and Anne - when they find themselves transported to Glass Town - the fictional city they created in their playroom. Amidst a battle between wooden soldiers and frogs, led by the Duke of Wellington and Napoleon Bonaparte (respectively), the children must avoid danger while also finding their way home.
I loved the imaginative whinsy of Glass Town and how it reflected the real world. People were made out of dolls and objects (as they would be in a playroom), and Valente used clever wordplay to make some of Glass Town feel more Wonderlandish (for example, by using literalisms; in Glass Town, brown besses are firearms that shoot little winged creatures who wear brown and are named Bess. The Duke of Wellington, aka the "Iron Duke," is literally made of iron).
I also appreciated that this story thought a lot about themes such as death, war, and good vs bad. The children grapple with the death of their mother and two elder sisters while also contemplating the ethics of Glass Towners having an immortality potion that the other side does not. They also think a lot about who is the "good side" in the war and whether violence is heroic. I especially liked the scene in the publishing house where they discussed whether it was more barbaric to kill a criminal or "re-educate" them (essentially changing who they are to fit society's morals).
CHARACTERS: The four Brontë children are a delight. I loved the way they pickerel and worked together, constantly turning to one another and pushing them away (as siblings do). I felt for Charlotte, who was suddenly tasked with being the eldest after the deaths of her sisters. I felt for Anne, who invented a "sister" so that she wouldn't be lonely when Charlotte and Emily went away to school. I loved that all of them had unique skills that were helpful in navigating Glass Town (for example, Charlotte is a great liar and Anne is the best thief). I was, however, somewhat annoyed by Branwell's constant desire to be in charge merely because he was a boy. It reeked of entitlement, and though he has a pretty compelling reason for being insecure, I would be lying if I said his behavior didn't grate on me.
Supporting characters were fun and whimsical. I loved the friendliness between the Brontës and the wooden soldiers, and I loved how all "real people" (such as Wellington, Lord Byron, and Jane Austen) were aged down so it felt like the children could interact with them on their terms. Sometimes, these side characters would speak overlong and distract from the main narrative, but at the end of the day, they were creative and easy to enjoy.
TL;DR: The Glass Town Game is a lovely tribute to the Brontës, using Valente's strengths writing whimsy to contemplate things like war, death, and good vs bad. While parts had a tendency to feel overlong, this was a charming and wild trip through children's imagination and it will surely delight fans of the Brontës' work.

wow that does put a lot of things into perspective...
it makes sense that hadrian would've gone under the radar if his condition wasn't as "apparent" so to speak. but in all of their time together, did auron never notice his twin's similar condition? did alexander?
also now i really agree that they should go see therapists even though I'm not sure how effective their visits would be
Answer below:
Auron absolutely noticed. He never much confronted him about it, but when he noticed signs and things that pointed to similar clinical behavior, he would sort of just stare in either understanding, sympathy, or offended frustration that nobody else seemed to be seeing what he was seeing, and he was getting all the flak for it. Nevertheless, he would subtly support him in those moments and provide him with everything he knew Hadrian needed, but he didn't talk about it objectively with him when they were both in sound mind, and he never tried to "expose" him to anyone else. He always wanted to take care of Hadrian (while also simultaneously screwing him over ofc), and he would protect him from certain things in a twisted but semi-helpful way.
Antinous knew as well, but MAINLY Marcius basically knew everything without having to be told. Marcius watched both boys grow up and he saw them for what they were, and he also kept the things he saw quiet and tried to make sure Hadrian was out of the public light if he was going through something intense.
Alexander was a bit less aware, but there were suspicions. The problem with his idea of things is that he thought a lot of Hadrian's bad behaviors could all be traced to Azazel and the specific bloodthirsty vampirism he had inherited that not even Auron had, which ofc made him extra monstrous. The really low periods Hadrian would have while they were sober flagged Alex as being due to addiction itself and the frustration that comes with restraining his desires. He also didn't see catatonia too much because Hadrian was always so distracted with him and putting all his mental energy INTO Alexander, like making him a lifeline of sorts that big traumas (his always centered around death and loss) managed to escape him for cennnnturies. He was putting all his happy cards into the thought of an immortal, unkillable Alexander, and it managed to stave off huge swaths of his depression and instability and other things for a long time. He still had his moments, but as i'd said, Alex never really recognized precisely what it was. He also didn't tend to see Auron at his worst very commonly either, maybe only a few times, so it was hard for him to recognize patterns. He knew Auron's mind and behavior best in only the way Hadrian could speak about it from his memories, but that was only ever Hadrian's side, and sometimes all he offered was "he's nuts" so Alex wasn't given all the clues and all the knowledge necessary. Every once in a while he'd definitely see something, but he wouldn't have enough to go on to truly understand what was going on, and having not known them at all as humans, he tended to conflate the issues he did see with vampirism, which he ALREADY viewed as an evil stain in one's psyche that should be repressed and denied, and would drive one to madness and unspeakable deeds, soooo he was a bad person to be diagnostic all around.
Liam and Harlock were two huge creatures to pick up on things, and they helped tremendously when Harry was at his absolute worst, and later Martin and Zayn saw echoes of it, that chapter I recently uploaded being an example. They'd seen it before, so they understood the signs and steps, but not nearly as much as Harlock and Liam had when it was semi-constant, and Harlock was the only one in Harry's life to truly work with and figure out precisely how he should be handled and what can be done to best support him, and he got really good at it.
When Alexander RETURNS, in the form of Louis, Harry is so distracted and so beside himself with hope and happiness that the Alex effect sort of returns, where he just puts all his focus in something other than loss, and the others definitely notice the impact. Statements about "I'm so happy he has you, Louis" are soooo loaded cuz they're speaking from a knowledgable standpoint of what he was like before, a collective understanding that isn't spoken about when Harry OR Louis are in earshot.
Louis gets a pretty good dollop of catatonia when they all come back home and Hadrian finally starts really processing the death of Auron post-burial and gravesite, when the ache of the empty loss hits him, but I haven't written that yet, and I might not unless it's requested.

If the list isn't too long I'd like to know more about the unseelie Princes! They only showed up like once and have only been briefly mentioned 😭 I crave unseelie content
The long awaited answer :D
Okay, you didn't specify if you wanted technical information about the unseelie princes or personal information so I'm giving you both. Let's dive in!
There are currently one hundred seventeen royals in the unseelie royal family. Of those twenty-eight are princes/princesses. (Note: there are non-binary royalty. In fae there are separate titles for them but in many human languages there aren't so they just pick one of the available titles to go by when speaking human languages because they got tired of fighting with humans about it. They absolutely use this as an example of why humans are inferior to them.) Both the children and grandchildren of the king are considered princes or princesses. King Objectivity has eleven children and seventeen grandchildren. That makes a total of twenty-eight princes and princesses.
This isn't actually a lot of children when you consider how long the king and his children have been alive. There used to be more, but unseelie politics are even more cutthroat than seelie politics and it isn't uncommon for royals to kill each other in order to rise in the ranks. Actually, seelie used to do that too but not nearly as frequently as the unseelie do it.
The princes, princesses, and non-binary royalty in order of claim to the throne:
Crown Prince Valiance (he/him, winter)
Princess Inquisitive (she/her, autumn)
Prince Despair (he/him, winter)
Princess Apathy (she/her, winter)
Prince Horror (he/him, winter)
Prince Pride (he/him, autumn)
Prince Judgment (he/him, autumn)
Prince Criticism (he/him, autumn)
Princess Indifference (she/he non-binary, winter)
Princess Ambition (she/her, autumn)
Princess Serene (she/her, winter)
Princess Ingenuity (she/her, winter)
Prince Patience (he/she/they genderfluid, winter)
Princess Intelligence (she/her, autumn)
Prince Humility (he/him, autumn)
Princess Responsibility (she/her, winter)
Princess Control (she/her, winter)
Prince Manipulation (he/him, autumn)
Princess Tranquil (they/them, winter)
Prince Cold Heart (he/him, winter)
Prince Stability (he/him, winter)
Princess Wisdom (they/them, winter)
Prince Observant (he/him, autumn)
Prince Realism (he/she/they genderfluid, winter)
Prince Modesty (he/him, autumn)
Prince Cruelty (he/him, autumn)
Princess Grief (she/her, autumn)
Prince Disgust (he/him, autumn)
And here is the family tree I made when planning out the unseelie royal family. Bonus points if you can make sense of it. Don't mind the change in color partway through, my marker ran out of ink.

The royals are encouraged to produce heirs so that the unseelie royal family can keep up with the seelie royal family power-wise which is quite a feat considering their competing with King Rainbow and his offspring. King Objectivity has become more strict about royals killing each other to try and preserve as much power as they can. The real challenge is finding consorts.
Unseelie - especially winters - have a harder time falling in love than seelie, but most of the royals aren't looking for love. They're looking for someone suited for ruling who they can tolerate long-term and trust to conceive and raise children with. The trust is the hard part in a place like the unseelie faerie hill. Luckily, they have a long time to find someone. And the ruling part doesn't always apply, often times they don't marry their mates but simply offer them a better life in exchange for making and helping to raise the children. Marriage is, after all, a big deal for fae. Forever is a long time when you're immortal.
The princes who made a brief appearance in Fear Transcends Language were Prince Pride and Prince Ambition. Less than ideal royals for Janus and Virgil to run into. The seelie have a very strained and rather spotty peace agreement with the unseelie which, for the most part, the unseelie honor. If Janus and Virgil had been captured by King Objectivity or someone who sticks to his teachings like, say, Grand Prince Valiance, the seelie royal family would have been in a bad position, but Janus would have been significantly less screwed.
Prince Pride and Prince Ambition would have done things their own way instead of handing Janus and Virgil over to their father which would have ended very, very badly for everyone involved. Pride and Ambition are particularly unflattering examples of unseelie.
When it comes to personal information about the princes there's only one prince I've thought about much and that's Grand Prince Valiance. Oh boy, do I have a lot to say about Grand Prince Valiance. More under the cut because this is getting long.
Grand Prince Valiance is old. So old he remembers what things were like before King Thomas unexpectedly came into power and how in doing so he drastically changed the seelie kingdom and the relations between the two kingdoms. In his opinion, things are better this way.
Valiance was not grand prince at the time. He had four older siblings who killed each other for the title of grand prince. Valiance killed his final older sibling as well, though he didn't lower himself to assassination. He went about it honorably, challenging his brother for his title the traditional way: a battle to the death. Valiance stated his brother to be unsuited for the title of grand prince believing his philosophies and ways of doing things to be outdated with no place in this new world. He knew his brother had become a liability who was damaging the kingdom's foreign relations. He removed the problem.
Valiance, like his father, believes that both seelie and unseelie must exist in order to maintain balance. Now, there are still disputes about territories and other incidents where blood is spilled, but there always has been and always will be. The good terms the two kingdoms are on is a new development, one that the king and grand prince wish to maintain.
Valiance ruled as grand prince for centuries before King Thomas announced the creation of his first two children. When he did, King Objectivity summoned all of the princes and princesses for a dinner meeting.
At the meeting the king informed his children and grandchildren that any of King Thomas's children would likely end up even more powerful than their unseelie counterparts, possibly from a young age. Yes, this included even Valiance whom he had told beforehand. These twins would someday be more powerful despite being significantly younger than him. This news was met with great upset.
King Objectivity told the princes and princesses that they had until the end of dinner to have their emotional reactions and discuss this with each other. After dinner, he never wanted to hear a single complaint about any of this again. This was unusually generous of the unseelie king who normally would not tolerate any 'childish' emotional outbursts from his descendants. The king was experiencing a rare spark of empathy, for he, too, did not handle it well when King Thomas - who is far younger than him and previously much lower ranking - became more powerful than him.
Valiance wasn't happy that these kids could overpower him someday, but he pushed those feelings aside and eventually came to terms with them. Besides, they all knew they had plenty of time before the seelie princes grew up. Then, Roman and Remus started getting older and Roman met Remy. After that, all of the seelie princes started aging much faster and suddenly they were out of time.
Even so, Valiance couldn't be too upset. He respected Roman for claiming a human-drider. Being willing to love an unseelie monster hybrid really said a lot about the kid and it said even more about King Thomas who allowed it to happen.
Roman grew up and now Valiance is almost sort-of kind-of friends with him. Almost, because how could a seelie and unseelie prince be friends? What would Valliance's family say? No, not friends. They're on cordial terms. That's all.
Still, when they have parleys it's clear Roman likes Valiance more than other unseelie royalty (excluding the king, because one never makes known that they have anything less than the utmost respect for the king) just by looking at the impromptu meeting areas he creates for them wherever the incidents occur.
For other unseelie royalty, the table is long to put distance between them. Roman's chair is grander than the other's which is just the slightest bit uncomfortable (more noticeable the longer you sit in it). He brings out his twentieth to fiftieth nicest whiskey (nice enough for royalty while still not being the nicest he could provide). Their pens and papers are standard.
For Grand Prince Valiance everything is of nicer quality. The table is shorter to make for easy conversation. The chairs are equally grand and comfortable to sit in and match each of their color schemes. Roman brings out his fourth to fifteenth finest whisky (his three finest are reserved for friends, family, and very special occassions) the quality of which depends on the situation and how he feels about Valiance in the moment. He provides pens with the tip he knows Valiance likes and more ornate paper.
Valiance and Fanciful Creativity (Roman) use each other's monikers with no titles when addressing each other directly. They don't try to trap each other with words or the laws of hospitality. They don't play bullshit faerie games where they mess with each other's heads.
(It's a big difference from how Roman treaters Valiance's great niece, Monger, whom he simply can not stand.)
They're not completely forthcoming, though. They still adhere to the laws of hospitality even if they know the other won't try to trap them. They're still, in some ways, enemies at the end of the day and therefore keep a certain amount of distance between them both literally and figuratively.
Roman may never admit that he secretly reserves his fourth and fifth finest whiskeys for people he wants to be friends with.
(note: whiskey is a human drink that Roman is fond of. Remy introduced him to it)

SPECIES INFO: Deities
✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨
INFO: “Gods”, “Deities”, “Kami”, “Devas”. Every human wants to become a god. It’s the highest rank of human you can truly be.. However getting there is incredibly difficult.
You either are born as a god or a god sees favor in you and decides to turn you into one. Beggars do not often become gods. You have to earn your status as one.
And once you do. You better take your job seriously. The whole worlds eyes are on you now. Don’t make a mistake. Everyone is counting on you.
There are two types of Gods. Tho they are not really “types” per say.
The Old Gods, which are gods like Aphrodite, Anubis, etc.
And The New Gods, which are modern day gods.
Old Gods get a bit more privacy and respect than most new gods get due to their status.
Gods have their real age and their “human age”.. Gods tend to say what age they feel like instead of like 1 million for example due to humans not fully having a grasp of what that means in god language.
ANATOMY: Deities tend to look like humans. However when a human becomes a god they tend to grow a bit taller. Gods tend to be in the 6ft+ range.
Gods can also have unnatural features like glowing eyes, bioluminescence, extra appendages, wings, etc etc. Due to gods being natural shapeshifters they are able to customize their form fully.
The main thing that separates them from humans is their Emblem. When a human becomes a god, they are given an emblem which is a palm sized coin like object with their sigil on it. This is the source of their soul and power source.
Gods can also put their sigil on their humans if the human consents to it.
Gods also will sometimes put their sigils on things like their house or things they like.
Gods can take their emblem out of their body, and place it somewhere separate from them. But most just carry it around inside their body (usually near their heart.)
When a gods vessel is killed, They will retreat inside their emblem and reform later. Which means that the god can essentially infinitely die and come back unless their emblem is destroyed.
A god can lose their godhood though it’s very rare, this type of god is called a “Forsaken God”, depending on the context, usually Forsaken Gods become Human. Or if they were another species before divinity, they will revert back to that.
POWERS: Even if a god is powerless. Every god has two main powers. Immortality, and their animal form.
Gods do not get to pick their animal form, it just comes to them naturally.
Gods can have a wide variety of powers, It depends on what they decide to specialize in. Usually a god figures out what type of god they are within the first few years of becoming a god.
Gods are at the top of the food chain in the grand scheme of occults. It’s very hard to kill or defeat a god unless you are a god yourself.
STRENGTHS: Fame. When you become a god, you are not only powerful but you get everything you could ever want. Fame, Fortune, Love. Whatever you want is at the tip of your fingers.
You will be worshipped, be given gifts, be seen as higher than anyone else. You are a borderline celebrity now.
WEAKNESSES: A God’s main weakness is their Emblem. If you can get your hands on it and destroy it, The god will die.
However getting your hands on a gods emblem is incredibly hard. Usually because you have to somehow defeat the God in battle first, and that doesn’t even mean that their emblem is actually on their person-
So yknow good fucking luck.
Another weakness, is a gods fame. If you make a mistake humans can easily turn their love and devotion against you. And what is a god without worshippers?

Here are the rules to my challenges I'm currently doing in case anyone wants to join:
Changeling Challenge
With mods and cheats-Make two fanilies and a duplex style house or apartment so each fanily has their own space. Bonus if you use the two way mirror window thingy. Make sure your Human Family is homeless and transfer their baby to your household. Place your Fairy Family in your duplex lot and add the human parents one at a time as Roommates (LittleMsSam has a mod for this). The human parents will have to be introduced to the Fairy baby (use MCC control and delte the relationship afterwards or just do it in setup and pretend it never happened.) Place the Fairy Baby on the human side of the lot and then lock the respective families out of each other's houses (LittleMsSam also has a mod for this) and you should be good to go.
Each family must never meet any member of the other family (including the children) until both kids are adults to succeed at the challenge
Autonomy must remain on the whole challenge
Bonus if you make the Changeling baby an alien (use trait cheats) and avoided being discovered by the human family
Bonus if you do the challenge in a tiny town lot
Without mods and cheats (Ultra Hard Level)- play with both families in your household but the same rules apply.
1 tile 100 babies
Trap a pregnant sim in a one tile house or fence. Add a door and lock it so only they can't leave but potential baby donors can enter. (Use Meet&Mingle or SimdaDating Mod to help get dates)
Start at zero simoleons
Make your sim immortal before they die
Every baby you have gets you 5 tiles (place them before your first pregnancy in the third trimester, or they won't go into labor)
You cannot leave the lot until you have all 100 babies
If a baby is taken away you lose 5 tiles
Bonus if you keep all the kids on the lot using mods/rental units
Optional: if you want to have the babies throughout legacies, you must start over in a 1 tile space each generation
Con Empire
Start at 0 simoleons and join the criminal career.
Make all your money through 'illegal' activities such as Swipe Object, Pickpocket, convince to give loan, etc.
Spend each day doing a slightly worse crime- for example Prank then Pickpocket, then Break In, etc. until you work your way up to Black Widowing
You complete the challenge when you buy a mansion
Run until you see _
Start in a fresh save file
Spin a wheel to get the emoji/subject you have to find in the sims
You cannot use Build/Buy or CAS to place the thing you must find such as a piano or a mustache.
Place your sim in the neighborhood you think will have the item you are searching for (you only get one chance so pick the neighborhood wisely)
Start jogging and insert yourself into 1st person camera
Scavenger Hunt (aka I miss Blues Clues)
Start at 0 simoleons
Spin a wheel or use a randomizer to choose three emojis/subjects you have to take a picture of
For example: Vlad, 👽, 🤖 would require my sim to hunt down Vlad and take a selfie (no checking from world view) then reveal and photograph an alien, and then make a Servo and take their photo
Once all three photos have been collected you have won the challenge

Green witchcraft and plant magic are two huge topics in the witchcraft community. If utilizing plants is not one of your interests then you may hard pressed to find information that doesn't directly involve plants in some way, shape or form. Green witchcraft was actually one of the first forms of magic I ever did research on and although I don't practice green witchcraft, I depend on plants for a lot of different things in my practice.
According to Arin Murphy-Hiscock (from her book The Green Witch), "a green witch is someone who lives the green path and is aware of how the energy of nature flows through her life and environment...". The most fundamental part of green witchcraft is "the individual's interaction with his or her natural environment". Green witches focus primarily on nature and utilize plant magic in their practice. Plant magic is not reserved for those that walk the green path, anyone who practices can do plant magic. Physical magic (ie. magic with ingredients) uses plants as main components in spell work. Some people grow a plant from seed before incorporating it into their workings. By growing a plant yourself, you are adding your own energy to it. This makes your personal connection to the plant much stronger than someone who bought it already dried (both are valid but if you have the time then give it a try).
Animism & Witchcraft:
Animism is defined as "the attribution of a soul to plants, inanimate objects, and natural phenomena" (source: google). Many cultures/religions believe in animism, including indigenous cultures. The belief that plants posses a spirit and that one can work with that spirit is also common amongst many practitioners as well. Many green witches will become animists throughout their journey and will form close bonds with the spirits of specific plants. For example, I know of a witch who cannot kill basil, even if she forgets to water it, it always stays healthy and it is because basil is one of her spirit allies. It is up to you if you choose to take up this belief and not everyone will feel called to but it is often the case that witches are animists.
The Historical Uses of Plants:
Folklore and superstition can be incorporated into witchcraft just as easily as magical correspondences. Even if an association no longer holds true today, the association can still be used. For example, historically apples have been associated with death but now their magical uses include love, immortality, friendship and healing. Both sets of correspondences can still be used today in witchcraft and spell work. One of my favourite examples of the historical uses of plants is the Victorian language of flowers. People, especially girls, used to communicate how they felt (to boys and friends) using flowers. Many of those associations can be incorporated into spells or can be the spell itself. For example, if you are doing a money spell, then you would grow a buttercup because it stands for wealth.
Incorporating a plant's historical uses into your practice can take a bit of research and will vary depending on the region and culture but they can make for very powerful associations. I have included some sources below if you are interested in looking more into plant folklore. However, I recommend picking up a field guide and identifying some of the local plants in your area and then researching into their historical and medicinal uses. You may be surprised how many plants in your neighbourhood can be used in your practice and what you can learn from them. Check out my post on foraging for more information.
