So back in the early 2010s I was working on a thing called NewDash, which was basically this. It was a dashboard replacement that used tumblr's APIs to grab all posts as they came in, then showed them in its own interface. And this was exactly the key innovation it had over regular tumblr: You could define as many sub-dashboards as you wanted.

By default you just got the "for you" view, but you had at least one extra board: uncategorized. See, you could take all the blogs you followed and tag them, letting you have a different dash for those tags.

So like you'd tag a blog you follow "tech", another "furry", another "anime", then when you went to your (default) dash it'd have a little piegraph at the top showing you have 80 unread posts. 10 under tech, 20 under furry, 50 under anime.

And you could switch to those sub-dashes by clicking on them. Just in the mood to read about anime today? click the anime dash, and it's all the tumblrs you follow you tagged anime.

Now obviously this wasn't perfect because we all have that person you followed because they were posting a lot of great X-content and then a month later their blog is nothing but Y-content, but it really helped. Especially back in the day when porn was still a thing: you could shove all the NSFW blogs into their own section.

Eventually tumblr switched to the new API system, and this fundamentally broke how newdash worked, and I never ended up repairing it. So NewDash is dead and it would take a lot of work to even think about bringing it back.

But my point is, I've experienced this exact functionality! and it's great. And tumblr should definitely implement it, 100%

Tumblr is giving us a lot of different dashes but the thing is no one wants "for you" so what I propose instead is you give me the ability to make mini-dashes with specific subsets of people I follow. Let me follow 300 people but then sort them into category. Let me have one dash for all my aesthetic stuff, another for news, another for my weird feral friends. Am I the only one who wants this? Maybe. Give it to me anyway.

If you aren't queer then literally no one is talking about you when they say "queer people" or "the queer community".

Queer people who are talking about other queer people are not talking about people who aren't queer.

You're not queer? You don't want anyone to call you queer? Then congrats, you are not part of the queer community. That's how this works.

"don't talk about the queer community, I'm not one of you" then cool, we're not talking about you. And no, we won't stop talking about the queer community. It's our community. You aren't in it, you said it yourself.

if it's not about you, then don't make it about you. If you aren't queer, then we aren't talking about you when we talk about the queer community or queer people.

You are doing the equivalent of walking up to someone who's talking about people whose favorite color is blue and, despite the fact that your favorite color is red, demanding that they stop talking about you, even though they literally aren't.

If you're thinking of tagging this as "q slur" then simply don't reblog it at all!

Sorry if this is offensive I'm just wondering- would an asexual character having sex with a partner in a tv show or book be counter productive? Like I'm fully aware that asexual people can have and enjoy sex whether they feel sexual attraction or not I'm just wondering how you would feel to have ace representation like that. I'm not talking about erasing a character's identity like Riverdale has I literally mean an ace character who has canonically come out as ace having sex. Thoughts?

The less representation there is, the larger the margin for error and insult. Fictional characters are ideals of a demographic, and if there’s only one, then that means their actions make up a bigger slice of the piegraph.

So yes, you are right that an ace character with an explicit life isn’t aphobic in itself, but it’s one thing to have a cast of aces and have diversity amongst them, and another to have only one character doing things under strict scrutiny.
