Vegan Italian Pignoli Cookies

As proof that I’m not dead here is some thing I’ve been up to. As of yesterday I am a cat mom to this cutie. Introducing little miss Pignoli!

there’s a story arc in the Restaurant AU where Stan has some character growth about allergies.

it starts off with Angie telling Stan he needs to be nicer to the vegans and vegetarians that come to the restaurant, and accommodate their dietary restrictions.  when Stan refuses, Angie tells him to think of it as an allergy.  she’s not too far off; many vegans and vegetarians will become sick if they eat animal products because it’s been so long that their bodies will react poorly to it.

and Stan responds with what Filbrick taught him, which was that allergies aren’t real.  it’s just people being wimps and picky eaters.

Angie, who has a potentially life-threatening food allergy, is speechless.  she’s too shocked to even be angry yet.  the anger comes later.  she tells Stan that she has a food allergy, and Stan’s surprised, because she doesn’t strike him as a wimp or picky eater.  but he’s insistent that allergies aren’t real.  Angie just leaves.  she has to take some time to think about how to respond to this.

the next day, Angie comes back to the restaurant, and sees that Stan made some cookies from scratch.  he contacted his mom to ask for her pignoli cookie recipe, because Angie suggested they start selling home baked goods, and the pignolis were Stan’s favorite when he was a kid.  Stan offers Angie a cookie.  unaware of the ingredients, Angie takes a cookie and eats it.

and pretty much immediately, goes into anaphylactic shock, because pignoli cookies have pine nuts.  and Angie’s potentially deathly allergy is to pine nuts.

after rushing Angie to the emergency room, Stan accepts that allergies are real, and agrees to start respecting dietary restrictions at the restaurant.
