I'm honestly surprised there aren't more indie games trying to recapture the vibe of pipeworks' Godzilla trilogy and War of the Monsters. Like I can see how that would be a big thing to invest in but I think there'd be enough interest to get the ball rolling, y'know

The Plumbers.

Once known as a mundane profession that, while not glamorous, is always needed in our growing modern society. Water must flow, as does waste. Now, Plumbers are in higher demand then ever to enter the ever shifting labyrinth known as the Pipeworks. The never ending, ever-expanding underground system of pipes and mazes are loaded with creatures mutated by the chemical runoff, criminals that have sought shelter from the law, and who knows what else down there!

Plumbers are one of the few classes of society trained in maneuvering the maze. Their job is to identify the malfunctioning pipes and do what they can to do it - you know, like a normal plumber. It's just that this job also includes the threat of man-eating plants and mutants fighting for territory. It's a dirty job done dirt cheap, so anyone can do it. But not everybody should...

Dug up an old Mario Fanfic I was working on, but never finished, based off of a...I guess the best way to say it is '4-Chan Scraps' of a would-be setting.

As a big Mario fan, I focused hard on the aspects of Mario that was infused into the setting and came up with the idea of basically a cyberpunk Mario-light setting - kinda like the Live Action Mario movie, but leaning a bit more into the fantastical elements of the franchise.

So, while I'm not working on that fic RIGHT NOW, it is something I wanna do. And, naturally, I'm using Jango & Henry for it instead of Mario & Luigi.

Roman Bronze Double-Action Water-Pump, Probably 3rd Century CE From Bolsena, Italy, The British Museum, London

This pump had two pistons (a), which were raised and lowered by a rocking-beam (b). The pistons were housed in two cylinders (c). At the bottom of each cylinder was a non-return valve (d).

When one of the pistons was raised, the valve was pushed open and the water rose inside the cylinder. When the piston reached its highest point the valve closed, trapping the water inside the cylinder.

On its downward stroke, the piston forced the water out through a side pipe (e). It then passed through a second valve (f) into the central discharge pipe (g), where it drained away.
