They improve operations while having minimal adverse effects, sustainability, and dependability. Taking care of them is vital to keep them strong, safe, and cost-effective, ensuring that the plastic pallets condition for a long time.
This blog offers a complete manual on safeguarding plastic pallets from damage. Through caring handling, smart storage, and regular maintenance, we aim to help you nurture your pallets, ensuring they serve your needs faithfully.
Understanding Plastic Pallet Damage
Before jumping into ways to keep plastic pallets in good condition, let’s take a moment to understand how they can get hurt. Knowing this helps us guard them better for longer use.
Cracks and Splits: Cracks and splits on plastic pallets are often caused by improper handling or overloading.
Warping: Warping occurs due to exposure to extreme temperatures or improper stacking.
Deformation: Deformation results from uneven load distribution. When weight is not evenly spread across the pallet, it compromises its ability to support future loads effectively.
Surface Damage: Scratches or cuts happen from rough handling or sharp objects; prevent them with careful use and protective measures to extend pallet life.
Preventive Measures
1. Proper Handling Proper handling Training to Staff: Ensure that all personnel handling plastic pallets are adequately trained. This includes training on:
Proper lifting techniques
Avoiding dragging on rough surfaces
Correct use of forklifts and pallet jacks
Using the Correct Material Handling Equipment
Using the correct equipment is important for ensuring safety, efficiency, and effectiveness in various tasks. Here are some key points to consider across different scenarios:
Forklifts and Hydraulic Pallet Truck: Ensure forklifts and pallet jacks are in top condition and perfectly suited for handling our valuable plastic pallets. To avoid scratching. forks should be smooth and have no sharp edges.
Manual Handling: Wearing gloves improves grip helping prevent pallet drops and damage ensuring everyone’s safety.
2. Proper Loading
Even Load Distribution: Ensure that loads are evenly distributed on the pallet to prevent deformation. Avoid concentrating heavy items in one area.
Adhering to Weight Limits: Respect the weight limits specified by the pallet manufacturer. Overloading can lead to cracks and splits.
Secure Packaging: Secure loads with shrink wrap, straps, or other materials to prevent movement and protect from stress and damage.
3. Optimal Storage
Indoor Storage: Keep plastic pallets indoors to shield them from UV, extreme temps, and moisture. Sunlight weakens plastic, leading to brittleness and cracks.
Temperature Control: Protect pallets like you would delicate skin: shield from scorching heat to prevent warping, and from icy chills to avoid brittleness.
Proper Stacking: Stack pallets evenly and do not exceed recommended stacking heights. Uneven stacking can cause warping and uneven stress distribution.
4. Regular Maintenance and Inspection
Routine Inspections: make a schedule for regular inspection of plastic pallets Look for delicate signs of wear like tiny cracks, gentle splits, or subtle warping, ensuring their care and longevity.
Prompt Repairs: Address minor damages promptly to prevent them from becoming major issues. Some plastic pallets can repaired using welding techniques.
Cleaning: Plastic Pallets are easily cleanable, you must regularly clean them to avoid dirt buildup, which can scratch surfaces. Choose gentle cleaners to protect plastic from degradation.
Advantages of Excellent Plastic Pallets Condition
Cost Efficiency: By taking good care of your pallets, you’re not just saving money; you are also ensuring they stay reliable longer.
Safety: Pallets should not destroyed since this promotes better handling, reduces accidents, and improves workplace safety for all in the transportation of products.
Sustainability: Preserving plastic pallets extends lifespan, reducing resource consumption in manufacturing and minimizing waste, enhancing sustainability efforts effectively.
Long Lifespan: Proper maintenance of plastic pallets extends their lifespan, ensuring functionality for years, saving costs, and promoting sustainability by reducing replacements.
Conclusion
Preventing plastic pallet damage requires care in how they’re handled, loaded, stored, and maintained, ensuring their longevity and safety. By following these guidelines, you’ll protect your plastic pallets, ensuring they remain reliable and safe for your business needs. By dedicating effort to training, equipment, and upkeep, you’ll save money and boost safety, showing care for your team’s well-being.

baby!danvers accidentally cuts her arm open at work using a box cutter. The cut is a bit too deep she has to get stitches. Her sisters are obvs concerned and arrive at the hospital in big sister bear mode.
2/2 - also if you wanted an alternative idea with b!d cutting herself maybe you could have her pierce an artery and need surgery (you can choose witch one cause I cant decide.
A/n: I chose the "none invasive" option because I was a little bit triggered by the pierced artery (it is a really big fear of mine). Sorry for not giving you the second option, I hope you still like it!
Tumblr media
---
For a week now, tons of boxed full of products have been stacked in the warehouse of your part-time job. Somehow it felt as if all business partners only sent their articles to you, preparing for a sale and rush of customers that wasn´t going to happen.
Your body wasn´t ready for that much work, but giving up and taking time off wasn´t an option for you, even though you more than needed a vacation. You seemed tired and inattentive to your colleagues, which was due to the fact that you suffered from chronic sleep deprivation and had not had a decent night´s sleep in days.
You had to help your sisters with Superhero stuff while also juggling university and life in general.
"Hey Y/n. You okay?" your best friend and co-worker asked as she drove up to you with the forklift to place two more pallets of boxed near you.
You shook your head annoyed. "I´m overworked and tired. My fingertips have a thousand tiny cuts that feel like my fingers are burning every time I press them on the cardboard so do me a favor; leave me alone and get on with other things so we don´t end up in a fight today."
The dark-haired woman in front of you raised her hands reassuringly and smiled slightly, hoping for a smile in return. "Calm down, I´m just worried about you. You don´t look well, you really need a break."
"What I need and what I don´t need.. please let that be my worry." you said, stomping away from your best friend to the newly laid boxes.
Absently you began to extend your utility knife and began cutting along the tape when you suddenly slipped and the sharp blade dragged along your other arm. In reaction and not yet in pain, you screamed out loud and saw the blood begin to gush out of the freshly and deep cut.
Immediately your best friend jumped out of her forklift and was with you instantly, but you were too far gone with the adrenaline and the panic rushing through your system that you didn´t even feel how she tried to suppress and stop the blood flow with her warning vest. With slow steps she tried to bring you to the forklift and set you down in case you fainted from the adrenaline waning.
With one hand wrapped around your arm and squeezing hard, she had her cell phone to her ear with the other hand, she watched you tonelessly as your face lost color with every minute that passed as she tried to quickly describe to the emergency services what had happened and where they could pick you up.
---
While you were laying there on the uncomfortable lounger at the hospital, still pretty taken by the morphine and the anesthetic they gave you to suppress the pain, you heard two familiar voices right outside the curtains that sealed you off from the emergency room, asking for your whereabouts.
"M´ here." you slurred and lifted your heavy head towards the sounds. Two contorted bodies appeared before your nebulous gaze and were by your side in no time.
While Alex stood in front of your bed, examining you from afar and trying to understand how this accident happened in the first place, Kara threw her bag onto the empty plastic chair and walked around you to find the empty space at your abdomen to sit on before she took your heavily bandaged arm in hers. "Honey, how did this happen?"
The blonde didn´t have to ask what had happened. Your boss called her shortly after your trip to the hospital and informed her about it. However, the question as of why this happened was still unanswered.
"You should never voluntarily put a cutter knife in my hand." you laughed and collected some unbelievable facial expressions from both of your sisters. "Slipp´d and scratch´d my arm a lil bit."
"Scratched? Kid, you lost a lot of blood from your body and needed nine stitches. You don´t joke with that." The red-haired one now interjected and paced up and down as an attempt to calm her nerves down and drop her concerns about you.
Kara shook her head and buried her face in her palm. She knew you weren´t thinking rationally right now because of all the drugs in your system. Still, she was in disbelief at how easy you were with this situation. "But it´s still attached to my body so it´s fine."
"Shush kiddo, now it´s my turn to talk." The eldest Danvers interrupted and walked carefully to the other side of the bed, where she gently brushed strands of hair away from your face and began to stroke your arm. "You´re a real klutz and sometimes I wonder if you´re doing this extra to get on our nerves but please try to be more careful next time otherwise I´ll go to your boss personally and have you sent somewhere you´ll never get hurt again."
But she got no answer. You had nodded off during her speech and now you were peacefully asleep in your hospital bed trying to recover before your doctor´s would finish the discharge letter so your sisters could take you home. "There´s no point in talking to her now, Al. We have to wait until she´s off the meds and out of here."
"I know. Fact is, she´ll never see a damn knife in any form ever again cause I´m sick of these hospital visits."

CRT Rescue
Just last week I learned that a recycling center near a city I visit was closing down and had over a dozen pallets of CRTs to get rid of. I made arrangements with the owner to stop by on a weekend date. I was especially interested in seeing “IBM terminals” having heard there were about 30 there. Working in the e waste industry myself, it was refreshing to just dive in there and take whatever without looking crazy or violating any regulations. Just the week before about a dozen people came in nerding out over tube TVs. Working in BTB e-waste and being a retro computer nerd is a bad combo, one that is tough on my mental health.
I was also the only person connected with the local Free Geek who could make it so they gave me a shopping list.
Tumblr media
I only had an hour to look so I focused on the IBMs. I would learn that IBM at the time used a proprietary “twinax” cable and that these displays could not be connected to anything other than an IBM mainframe. I was able to put together the last two complete units with logic boards. I was disappointed I couldn’t have a VGA ready green 80’s monitor for free, but fortunately I was later told that there were a lot of local IBM mainframe fans around who’d be happy to take them.
I also found a generic TTY terminal from Renyolds and Renyolds with the classic white cursor.
Tumblr media
I found a large office paper shredder with a very vintage look that is going to be perfect for Precious Plastic activities through Second Melt, probably the most useful and practical find.
Tumblr media
I noticed a large all in one terminal with a mechanical keyboard wedged into a box and decided to turn it on. Fortunately it didn’t blow up but the screen did not do anything. I was hesitant but I decided to grab it for its case and keyboard. If I can’t get it working it will be a great case for when I build my WarGames inspired evil AI.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It is a General Terminal Corporation GTC-100 terminal dating to the early 80’s. After doing some digging I found that it is “teletype compatible” and workable with a USB to 25 pin serial adapter. This one’s a keeper and I’m going to try and restore it.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
At the last second I grabbed an armful of 9 track IBM tapes, also for donating to the local Free Geek. I’ll keep one for display purposes.
Tumblr media
Regretfully I wish I had spent more time there and probably won’t get back— the place has to be cleared out by years end. But I’m empowered I was able to same some stuff to distribute to like minded folks entirely on my own volition. I’m excited to get the terminal working and expect a post, possibly two on that.

A Carmen Berzatto Universe
Here's another chapter from my request box - friendly reminder that you can submit requests for these two.
Vanessa Monaghan is the breath of fresh air that Carmen had been gasping for.
Page 9: Webbing
Vanessa Monaghan really was an Instacart type of girl. Grocery stores were loud and busy and she didn’t meal plan much, so that left her just swiping at shelves and in the produce section at whatever looked good.
Unfortunately for her, the next available delivery across any app she could download to her phone wasn’t for two and a half days. So, she vowed that on her way home from her friend Gina’s, she’d find a grocery store and knock out a few items for the week.
It was the height of summer and she knew no matter what, she was leaving the supermarket near River North with a watermelon.
Grabbing a small cart, mostly a basket on wheels, she set off through the medium-sized super market. She knew she wanted to hit the produce first.
Pulling through the berries, she grabbed a carton of nearly every kind. She loved berries and could likely sustain on them alone. She piled a few other veggies she could cut up and toss in a fry pan, dropping zucchini, yellow squash and red onions into individual plastic bags. She did feel bad about the excess plastic and would remember to re-use them somewhere in her home.
Then, she found the large pallet of watermelons. Standing over the bin, she crossed her arms over her chest. She knew it was silly but she could never remember how to pick the right one.
“It’s a tough choice,” she heard from her left and she turned to see a handsome man with curly hair and striking blue eyes. His hands were tucked into the front pockets of his jeans.
“It is,” she laughed politely, “always a hard decision.”
“For me,” he took a step forward, “I like to pick a pretty uniform one,” he stepped up next to her, eyeing the bunch carefully before reaching in. She could tell he worked out, watching as his biceps flexed enticingly. “It uh, it has an orange field spot,” he turned it over, showing her the discoloration on the bottom, and it’s got a lot of this webbing,” he flipped it over again. “Webbing?” She asked doubtfully.
“Uh like scratching almost,” he offered, running his fingers along the marring. “You don’t wan a shiny one, either, nice and dark is best,” he added.
Vanessa drank him in. Not tall but not too short, sharp features, humble aura. He was handsome for sure, there was no denying that.
“And what,” she asked, accepting the melon as he handed it over to her, “makes you a watermelon expert?”
“I uh, I work with food,” he rubbed the back of his neck, gesturing at the watermelon.
“In grocery?” She asked, setting the watermelon down in the basket.
“I’m a chef,” he replied, fighting a blush as her eyes lit up.
“Really? That’s amazing,” her smile was stunning. “Where do you work? If you don’t mind me asking,” she said, inching forward with her cart.
“Uh, The Bear,” he rattled off, “it used to be The Beef, until a few months ago, we’re transitioning,” he explained. “It’s still The Beef, it’s going to be The Bear shortly,” he continued.
“I’ve been there,” she replied, grinning. “Well, I’ve had sandwiches from there,” she elaborated. “One of my interns loves that spot and will run and get lunch for us from time to time,” she explained.  Carmen was too busy studying her features and realized it was his turn to talk.
“And what was the verdict?” He asked, clasping his hands behind his back.
“We love it,” she smiled, “we’ve ordered out many times,” she added.
“Well I may have made your lunch,” he shrugged.
She stopped walking, turning to give him her full attention.
“I’m Vanessa,” she stuck out her hand. He got a whiff her perfume and felt the hairs on his arms stand on end.
“Carmen,” he replied, gently taking her hand in his.
“It’s really nice to meet you, Carmen,” she smiled, “thank you for your help.”
“Enjoy your melon,” he gestured. Enjoy your melon?! He wanted the tiled floor to open up and swallow him whole. A beat passed and
“Would you happen to have any tips for the deli section?” She asked, wondering if her eyelashes were doing what she paid so much money for them to do.
“I’ve got tips,” he replied, almost immediately. He knew he was blushing then.
The pair wound their way through the supermarket, talking about anything their eyes landed on as Vanessa’s cart slowly filled up. Carmen knew the two men working at the meat counter and got her a great deal on a sirloin steak.
She didn’t know how the hell she was going to cook it, but she was excited nonetheless. She thought Carmen was incredibly cute, and was particularly fascinated with the way his mouth formed certain words.
Carmen couldn’t believe Vanessa was speaking to him at all. It wasn’t that she was out of his league – she was playing at Soldier Field and he was tailgating at Wrigley. Her hair looked silky to the touch and her big doe eyes were mesmerizing to him.
Sooner than he’d like, they found themselves rounding on the checkout lane.
She blushed a deep red as he bagged all over groceries, at her insistence he didn’t need to and suddenly they were both at the front door.
“I don’t cook a lot,” Vanessa said intently. “But I do go out a lot,” she added. “Maybe you could show me your favorite place some time?”
Carmen nodded enthusiastically, pushing an errant curl out of his eyes.
“Yes, I could do that,” he nodded. He pat all four of his pockets. “I uh, clearly left my phone at work,” he huffed. “But I have a pen,” he pulled out sharpie from his pants pocket. Vanessa laughed as he scribbled out her phone number on his arm. “I will text you as soon as I get back to my phone.” He reassured.
“I look forward to it, Carmen.”
“Me too.”

Catching Crabs (And Feelings)
Tumblr media
Word Count: 2750
Romance, Fluff, Getting Together
Summary: Ochako and Katsuki go hunting for crabs on the beach the first night of their class' summer vacation. Turns out that they've already caught something else...
“Wow!” Ochako breathed in wonder as she pushed herself onto her tiptoes and leaned over the white metal railing of the balcony, brown eyes gleaming as she gazed at the beach in the near distance. The full moon and the bright stars reflected on the indigo waves, making it seem like diamonds flickered in the depths; the frothing seafoam glowed in the soft white light, as did the dunes of pure white sand making up the slithering shoreline. The crashing of the water rang in Ochako’s ear, even several stories up on the condominium balcony. She closed her eyes and cupped her hands around her ears, savoring the gentle to and fro of the tide.
Class 3-A had decided to pool their funds (and milk their parents’ pockets a little) to scrounge up enough money to rent a beachside condominium for a week of their summer vacation. Of course, considering their hero-in-training status, several of the U.A. teachers had to chaperone, but they were giving the students their relative privacy and were staying in the flat next door. They’d spent most of the day driving in, shopping for beach essentials, and enjoying a meal at one of the local seafood restaurants. Many of them were buzzing to hit the beach, but the night had closed in before they’d had the chance.
Some of her classmates were debating going down to the pool as a substitute, but Ochako craved the squish of the toes in her sand and the deafening crash of the waves. She flitted back inside, leaving the glass sliding door open to allow the salt-kissed breeze to flow into the condo’s living room. She carefully picked her way across the collection of pallets and air mattresses strewn around the furniture (after all, they had to do their best to fit twenty-one students in a condo made for ten) to the collection of beach toys, inflatables, towels, and other odds and ends crammed in the entranceway.
“Hey, does anyone wanna go hunt crabs with me?” she declared while plucking up a bucket and a shovel. She spun on her feet, beaming excitedly and holding up the plastic tools. “It’ll be fun!”
“I dunno, Ochako, it’s kinda dark!” Tooru fretted from where she sat cross-legged on her air mattress, squirming. “I think I’ll just go to the pool… I want to show off my new swimsuit, anyway!” she gushed with a sidelong glance at Mashirao, who was leaning against the kitchen bar chatting happily with Koji and Rikido, who had all donned their swim trunks in preparation for hitting the pool.
Ochako puffed out her cheeks, annoyed that Tooru was abandoning her to flirt, and looked at the rest of the girls.
“Mina and I are prepping everyone’s beach bags for tomorrow!” Momo reported from the couch, where she and the pink-haired girl were folding up towels and putting them in cloth bags, along with sunscreen, plastic bags for their cellphones, snack bars, and other necessities.
“I’m going swimming too, ribbit,” Tsuyu croaked as she walked out from changing, sporting her cute frog-patterned two-piece.
“Denki and I are going across the street to the surf store to check out the tee-shirts,” Kyoka reported, lounging on a bar stool while sucking on a popsicle. “Sorry, Ochako,” she added when the girl’s face obviously revealed how crestfallen she was.
All of her friends were otherwise busy, and the boys were all getting fired up about a pool volleyball tournament, so it seemed she wouldn’t be hunting crabs tonight.
“Oh…” she murmured as her arms fell, the bucket swinging limply by her side. Each clack of the attached shovel against it made her heart clench sadly. “That’s okay!” she smiled, trying to cheer herself up. “We can always go another night. We’ll be here for a week, after all!” She knew that was true, but it didn’t really abate the disappointment much.
As she was miserably setting the bucket down, someone hit her on the top of the head with a plastic shovel.
“Oi, Cheeks,” Katsuki huffed when she looked up at him in shock. “What’s the deal, are none of us guys good enough for you? Didn’t bother to ask any of us.”
“O-oh!” she exclaimed, heat flushing into her face as embarrassment flooded through her body. “I-I’m sorry, you all seemed so pumped up about playing volleyball, so I thought all of you were going to the pool…” she explained meekly, straightening up and rubbing the back of her neck.
When she laughed nervously, Katsuki narrowed his eyes slightly. He then just nudged her with his bucket, pushing her towards the door.
“Come on. Let’s go, Cheeks,” he grunted, snatching up two flashlights and dumping them in his bucket while he continued to bump her down the hallway. Ochako could only sputter in confusion as he corralled her to the elevator. She clutched her bucket to her chest, staring down at the fancy tiled floor as her cheeks burned bright red. Her mind whirled in confusion, and she glanced at Katsuki out of her peripheral vision to see him standing there with his hands in his cargo shorts pockets and the bucket resting on his wrist, watching the numbers count down to the garage floor.
I’m so confused! I know that Katsuki would much rather be playing volleyball with all the guys, so… why is he so adamant to take me crab-hunting? she thought wildly. The pleasant ding of the elevator provided no answer.
She meekly followed him out, walking in silence across the condo’s parking garage and through the gates that led to the pool. A few young teens frolicked in the water, splashing each other and laughing as they played Marco Polo. Several college-aged students lounged in the hot tub, drinking from red plastic cups.
They marched across the concrete poolside to a set of wooden stairs that had a gate leading to the beach. Katsuki lifted the latch and allowed her to pass, then followed behind her. She felt her hair stand on edge as he loomed behind her, prompting her to scamper across the sand-strewn wooden boardwalk down into the sand.
“Here, Cheeks,” he said, joining her in the sand and handing her a flashlight.
She flipped it on, and the circle of white light puddled over the dunes, making the particles glow beautifully. Her flip-flops squeaked with each step as she sunk down into the thick sand, occasionally crunching on dried-up seaweed and discarded driftwood. She cast the beam of the flashlight around, and the light refracted on the crashing waves in the near distance.
As they came to the shoreline, the thick white sand gave way to water-saturated, grainy brown. Ochako could see tiny white crabs scuttling in the surf. Their little pinchers waved to and fro as they dodged the swirling white seafoam; a few of them didn’t scamper fast enough, and their wee round forms were swallowed up by the frothing water and carried back into the sea. Occasionally, they’d come trundling back, disgruntledly snapping their claws as water dripped from their carapaces.
Ochako skipped up to the edge of the water with a delighted squeal, sending a few of the crabs skittering away.
“Look, Katsuki! They’re so cute!”
“You can hardly see the little bastards,” he sniffed in disdain, leaning down with squinting eyes to inspect the crabs zig-zagging around the wet sand and leaving itty-bitty tracks in their wake. “Why do you wanna catch ‘em?”
“Because it’s fun!” she answered, detaching her shovel from her bucket. She set the bucket down away from the surf so it wouldn’t be carried away before stalking along the shoreline, creeping up on the oblivious crabs. She snuck up on one plucking at some wet green seaweed; with a shout, she dove down with the shovel and scooped it up. She grabbed it by a little leg, holding it up triumphantly to Katsuki.
“My parents are of poor means, but every year we still made a trip to the beach. After the sun went down, we would all hunt crabs together!” she explained, ignoring the way the crab squirmed in her fingers and snapped irritatedly.
She smiled nostalgically as she walked up to her bucket and gently dropped the crab in. It circled the bottom, tapping at the plastic sides, before relaxing to sit quietly and snap its little claws.
“None of us get to see our parents often these days… I guess being at the beach made me realize how long it’s been since I’ve seen them, so I really wanted to go.”
There was a period of silence, during which Ochako realized what she said. She snapped her hand to her reddening cheek, looking at him in embarrassment.
“So-sorry! That was weird, wasn’t it?”
“No,” he huffed, tilting his head as he looked away at the rolling waves. “I figured it was something like that, which is why I dragged your ass out here,” he admitted in a small voice, walking up next to her to drop her bucket in the sand. Through the beams of the flashlights, she could just barely catch his face turning pink as she gaped at him in shock. “Wh-what’s that face for, Cheeks?” he snapped, grabbing her chin and squishing her chubby cheeks.
“Nuh-nuting!” she squeaked through his grip. “I’m jusht shuprished…”
He released her face with a small grunt. Ochako rubbed it, the nerves still tingling from where he’d teasingly grabbed her.
“That’s really nice of you… I know you’d rather be with the guys.”
“Bah,” he huffed and turned around, shining his flashlight around to see the crabs scrambling about. “If I’d gone, I’d’ve spent the whole night thinkin’ about how sad you looked…”
Ochako inhaled quietly, the bubbly feeling of gratitude and awe rising up in her body. He did it because he didn’t want me to be sad…
Smiling sweetly, she skipped up beside him.
“You’re really sweet, you know?”
“D-don’t call me that!” he cried, jerking away from her and hiding his face with a hand. Though his fingers covered most of his face, she could still see his bright red blush peeking out through the gaps. “Let’s just hunt these stupid crabs for a while and then go back, okay?” He stiffly dove down to scoop up some unsuspecting crabs, then cursed as he tried to pick it up and it pinched his finger. “Ow! You little fucker!” he said, dropping it into the sand and sucking angrily on his cut fingertip.
Ochako laughed, retrieving the crab and holding it up by its back leg.
“Like this,” she said. He glared at the wriggling crab, flipping it off while he continued to suck on his injured finger.
Ochako laughed and carried the crab to her bucket, where it acquainted itself with the current occupant. As she turned back, a cold breeze rolled across the beach, making her shiver. Now that she looked at it, the water was a murky black, and the crashing of the waves seemed to echo unnaturally around them.
“What, Cheeks?” Katsuki asked, squatting down and unsuccessfully grabbing at another crab. He scowled as it jumped away from its fingers and sought safety in the frothing water.
She walked up to him, looking around with scrunched eyebrows.
“Well, it’s just… It’s kinda spooky.”
“Wait, you gettin’ cold feet?” he sneered as he straightened up. He put the flashlight under his chin, casting strange shadows over his face. “Oooooooooo, I’m a ghost,” he warbled while wagging the fingers of his other hand.
Ochako snickered and pushed him in the shoulder.
“Don’t make fun of me! It’s a little creepy out here!” she complained, stomping her feet in the wet sand. She wrapped her arms around herself as the breeze blew, shuddering with cold and a little bit of apprehension.
“Jeez. You’re such a girl,” he smiled with a roll of his eyes. She squeaked as he abruptly grabbed her hand, holding it tight. “Creepy sea ghosts or whatever, I won’t let anything happen to you. I am gonna be number one someday,” he grinned haughtily.
Ochako was too busy turning to mush to comment on his overwhelming self-confidence.
He’s… he’s holding my hand… She certainly did feel safer. His hand was so warm and surprisingly comforting despite the hard calluses on his palms from his explosion Quirk. His skin was soft, probably from the nitroglycerin. A shy smile found its way onto her lips, making her sheepishly curl in on herself.
“Thanks…”
“All right. Now let’s hunt some crabs,” Katsuki smirked, his red eyes glinting with clear affection.
True to his word, he held her hand, which made it a little awkward when she stooped down to pluck up the crabs. Still, it was fun, too; she’d tugged on him playfully, making him stumble, and he’d respond by yanking her around randomly while they were trawling the wet sand for more critters. Soon the crab hunt was abandoned and they were just playing tug-of-war with each other, spinning around and kicking up sand. They stumbled into the surf, the water splashing around their calves. They stood there in the water, panting slightly with their cheeks shining in exertion, staring into each other’s eyes as the moon bathed them in its beautiful white glow.
“Thanks for coming out with me tonight, Katsuki. It means a lot,” she said after a minute. “You’re a good friend.”
He narrowed his eyes slightly, making her wonder if perhaps she’d said something odd. Then, he inhaled sharply, fear flashing in his eyes like he was about to tumble into the depths.
“Do you really think I came out here with you because I wanna be a good friend?” His voice was soft and deadly serious, a combination that made goosebumps sweep over her arms and legs. She stared at him in confusion, heart thumping in her chest, as he stepped a little closer to her. “You know how I said I would think about how sad you looked all night?” He was still holding her hand, so he brought it up to his face; he held it between them for a moment, internally debating, before gently turning her hand so he could press a kiss to the smooth skin of her palm. “I can’t stand the sad look on your face, Ochako, because I’m stupidly in love with you. Dufus,” he spoke gently against her skin.
She pressed her lips into a thin line as a thousand feelings welled up in her at once. Her mouth continually opened and closed as her face tried to process the rapid succession of emotions she was trying to process, and what the hell she was supposed to say to that.
“I can’t believe you just confessed to me and insulted me in the same sentence,” she managed finally, her tone flat.
Katsuki just snorted, his mouth still pressed to her hand.
“Is it really that much of a surprise?”
“No,” she laughed, his calm demeanor and snark allowing her to finally recover from the shock. She smiled warmly, eyes gleaming as he continued to peer at her over the tops of their linked hands. His red eyes glinted like rubies, making her marvel for the first time how beautiful they really were. “I have to admit, it’s surprisingly effective, too,” she said cheekily, biting down on the tip of her tongue as she raised her eyebrows suggestively at him.
“Oh? Look at you, trying to flirt,” he chuckled, finally pulling his lips away from her hand to smirk at her. “Cute.” He used his free hand to swipe a finger down the bridge of her nose, smirk widening. “As much as I would like to stare at your round chubby cheeks all night, it’s cold as hell out here.” Now that he mentioned it, the temperature had dropped considerably as the sea breeze began to roll in. “Whadaya say we set the crabs free and get goin’, huh?”
They tossed their collection of crabs into the waves, where they sunk to the sandy bottom and went about their crabby business. Hand-in-hand, they walked slowly back up towards the condominium, Katsuki swinging their arms in between them. Ochako had already been excited about their summer beach getaway, but now she was very curious as to what the rest of the week would hold. She knew one thing for sure—her new boyfriend was going to make sure that she would be as happy as she could be!

Okay so Costco was a time but I called my sister about it and now I'm like...it was fine I guess.
It's strange. Yes everything is big and there's the biggest fucking TVs I've ever seen as well as fresh fruit and Xmas ornaments and frozen fish and a whole isle of soda but the strangest thing to me (after the freaking....inflatable pool slide hanging from the ceiling which when I was in the central open part of the store felt like it was hunting me) was the organisation. There are general sections such as Food and Tech but....there's candles next to kitchen bench top appliances, snacks seem to be spread across different Isles and then also some in the central island where the clothes are. There are several freezer locations that are separate from each other and not necessarily related to whatever else in the isle. The Isles are BARELY 2 trolleys wide. With such huge trolleys turning a corner is difficult but there is not a lot of room to turn if someone is already in the isle you're turning into. No check out lines. It was just a crowd. which I hated. The car park also did not think so much about flow of traffic and while it was relatively quiet for us it was easy to see how it would be a nightmare if busier.
My friend who has a membership told me they don't have the same stuff every time??? So you're getting your once a year dishwashing liquid bucket or whatever and next time they might not have the same brand or flavour? Also this could have been a person I went with thing but things seem to move. There was one kind of seaweed snack but we were looking for a different one and we found it on a pallet near dogfood which is not normally where it lives??
There were the biggest bags of chips I'd ever seen in my life and literal tin buckets of ghee but many Big Things were actually just normal large size but they are packaged in 2 or 4s so you cannot buy 1 4litre bottle of vinegar you must buy a box of 4. The bakery onsite was surprising but as one woman who lives a lot I could not buy 26 mini pan au Chocolat for 10 dollars even though they smelled very yummy. You can order birthday cakes with lettering. They didn't even have full coffins/caskets just end pieces to show the finish/shape but they all looked cheap nasty plastic as heck. One was called the Nixon coffin which I thought was funny for tenuous reasons. Did he get buried in one like it? Was it his favourite? Do people buried in this have some semblance to him?
I got a bag of freeze dried fruit (peaches, lychees and strawberries) to share with my friend as office snacks. 100g for 15 dollars is expensive but freeze dried fruit are very light so it should go a long way. My friend also bought some mangosteen juice to try.
I stared longingly at large slabs of paneer and fior de late. Also at the 15 cents cheaper than average fuel prices. Not sure I'd go enough to actually make any savings (fuel alone would probably get my money back, but I live alone so can't buy much in bulk as a way to save). Also many things just didn't seem That Cheap. Many pantry staples were just the normalish price scaled up, like rice. Some things were cheap (6 tubes of miso ramen flavoured Pringles for 10 dollars for example) but they were often somewhat novelty so you are buying A LOT with the risk you don't like it.

A Guide to Understanding the Load Capacity of Plastic Pallets
Tumblr media
Plastic pallets are the most important part of equipment for the effective and secure transportation and storage of goods in many organizations. The load-bearing capacity of a plastic pallet is one of the factors which you have to look for. Selecting a suitable plastic pallet for your requirements based on its load capacity improves overall security and protects against product damage.
This article will explain the important aspects of plastic pallet load capacity in simple language.
What is Load Capacity? The load capacity of plastic pallets refers to the maximum weight that a pallet can support without compromising its structural integrity or functionality. Beyond its capacity, a pallet may break under load. potentially causing accidents. The three primary categories of load capabilities should be understood to prevent damages:
Static Load Capacity Here is the maximum weight that a pallet can safely hold while resting on an even, flat surface: this load-bearing ability plays an important role when you stack pallets on top of one another or stock them together for some time.
Dynamic Load Capacity When a forklift lifts or a hand pallet truck pushes a pallet, its dynamic load capacity, or max weight carrying capacity decreases due to added stress.
Racking Load Capacity Racking load capacity is the amount of weight that a pallet can safely support when it's placed on a storage rack. It's important because it ensures that the pallets won't break under the weight, keeping everything safe and preventing accidents in the warehouse operations.
Load Capacity-Affecting Factors? Many factors determine how much weight a plastic pallet can sustain. You may choose the ideal plastic pallet for your requirements by being aware of these characteristics.
1. Material and Design Plastic pallets are made of different types of raw materials, like HDPE, LLDPE, and PP, each having its unique strengths and weaknesses. Their durability depends on factors like plastic thickness and reinforcement design. These pallets are specially crafted to handle heavy loads reliably. The use of proper material while making plastic pallets can have good results.
2. Pallet Size The size of the pallet impacts its load capacity. Larger pallets have a greater surface area to distribute weight, but they also need to be designed to handle the stress over a wider area. There are many sizes available in plastic pallets depending on the industry requirements.
3. Weight Distribution To make the most of a pallet's load capacity, distribute weight evenly. Put heavier items in the middle and lighter ones around. This keeps things balanced, preventing tipping or breaking and ensuring safe handling by humans.
4. Environmental Conditions High or extremely low temperatures can weaken plastic pallets, making them less able to support heavy loads. It is important to consider the location where pallets will be used and stored so that they do not fail due to environmental stress.
5. Usage and Handling How you use and handle the pallets also plays a vital role. Handling pallets roughly, like dropping or subjecting them to impacts, can weaken them, lowering their load capacity. Properly training workers on gentle handling preserves pallet integrity, ensuring safe and efficient operations.
Advice for Choosing the Right Plastic Pallet Use these guidelines to choose the best plastic pallet for your needs:
Assess Your Load Requirements: Find out how heavy your pallets must hold, including when they're still, moving, or stacked high, to avoid accidents.
Consider the Environment: Consider the climate and whether the pallets will be used indoors or outdoors when deciding how and where to use and store them.
Evaluate Pallet Material and Design: Select a pallet that meets your load capacity needs and is constructed of durable advanced plastic.
Check for Quality: Make sure the pallets are made by a reliable manufacturer and meet safety and quality requirements set by the industry.
Plan for Future Needs: Think about any upcoming adjustments to your business that could have an impact on the number of weight pallets you require, including heavier loads or new storage setups.

A PORTAL TO HELL OPENED UP IN DETROIT AND THE ACACIA STRAIN, FIT FOR AN AUTOPSY, FULL OF HELL, AND PRIMITIVE MAN WERE THE SOUNDTRACK
Every photo I posted from this show on Instagram had a 311 lyric attached as the show was on 3.11.23. I know that I’m corny, I know you know it too, we both don’t really care, so let’s get with the visuals. Double vodkas and watermelon red bulls pair wonderfully with Sativa dominant hybrid hand rolled king-size cones. Just putting it out there. I dream of a day when they can be truly paired together and I can have a drink and a doobie in the smoking section. Venue staff informed me that last minute the venue manager said all drinks need to be poured because this crowd is known to get "violent".
Awww shucks. Thanks Saint Andrew's Hall! I am by no means offended, I think I speak for most metalheads and deathcore kids when I say we take that as a badge of honor. Especially considering how insane shows have been in the past in that room, and look, from my standpoint I didn’t see anything out of the ordinary all night. None of this music is entry level so it’s not like anyone in the room was ignorant of what could possibly happen. And again, as far as my knowledge it was a normal night.
Straight up, Primitive Man is abrasive and I would not play it for most people. With that being said I am a fan of just nothing but growls and breakdowns. Trio of death doom and funeral doom that literally sounds like elevator music to Hell. Or are they the soundtrack of the tear in the ground opening the portal to Hell, right in the middle of beautiful Downtown Detroit, Michigan?
Primitive Man is the first band to make me need a break. I literally had to go downstairs and then outside for a second just to get a pallet cleanser for my ears. All of a sudden the typical Detroit city soundscape sounded like heaven to me. This is not a shot at them at all, this is a sign of respect that they do exactly what they set out to do. I appreciate this band for existing more than most.
GET ME TO FUCKING FEEL SOMETHING. ANYTHING. PLEASE. FOR THE LOVE OF FUCK.
And they did, masterfully.
Full of Hell gave me the live intensity vibes of Converge while lifting the tempo massively from the funeral doom openers. Chaos. Samples. Keyboards. An absolute Madman on drums. I cannot ask for anything better when watching support bands. But the truth is this is a band I need to see headline and own a venue for an hour+. Samples and electronics filter through hardcore drum beats and blackened death styles that make my chest feel warm and cozy. I know this music could probably be used to torture normies but it gives me the biggest smile on my face to see shit like this live.
Fit For An Autopsy one of the leaders of Deathcore is damn near homicidal with their music as they are fucking killing it. I wished so badly that Will Putney was here so I can annoy the fucking shit out of him.
Yesterday they dropped a single and at every stop of the tour they're shooting the video for it. As they are crushing it I am reminded of how much I truly love this genre and especially when those fucking thrash beats come out. All this time later we're still just descendants of Dave Lombardo and Gene Hoglan. I am not fucking mad about it.
FFAA brings a much more palatable style of music to the package after two of the brashest bands on Earth, again, this is a good thing in every direction. Lighting upgrades to the main rig and then come the sub hits and insane breakdowns that make my toes curl up inside my shoes. Why do I always find it to be so calm when it is so unbelievably chaotic? No idea, but it feels perfectly normal to be doing what I am doing and witnessing professionals do their thing up close and personal…
The Acacia Strain is up next and at this moment I realize that the Kemper pedal board has a plastic covering on it. I am reminded swiftly of Vincent’s antics with water bottles and then reconfigure my entire mentality towards the 3 songs I got to photograph.
I swear, I saw them at the Modern when I used to bring cases of 40s in the Lebaron. The mid-2000s are an absolute blur. It ended up being the Hayloft in Mt Clemens. Right out the gate, TAS is a brute onslaught playing “The Beast” with help from some friends on vocals. It was chaotic as fuck, louder than the rest of the night, and the definition of a rager popping off. It did not let up, with multiple crowd-surfing photographers, water flying everywhere, clawing crowd surfers, and a wall-to-wall mosh pit. All of this is the perfect storm for a delightful evening of catharsis, release, and deathcore. Look, I smoke a lot of weed alright. Did my email say these fucking guys dropped info on ANOTHER surprise album? Jesus Christ man… so we get two new albums from The Acacia Strain this spring, good. Good. More on that when those records come out! This was an incredible lineup that consistently build to a peak of insanity with The Acacia Strain sealing up the portal to Hell in true deathcore fashion.
I've had varying experiences with staff and security over the years at venues I love and loathe. Most of the time everything is fine. But sometimes I get rubbed the wrong way. My most recent mishap was in Cleveland. Doesn't surprise me. But last Saturday I felt very accommodated and taken care of by security and staff at @standrewshall in Detroit. Look I'm a big pothead so I forget names and shit but I think it was Daryl? in the pit and Anna/Hannah? working backstage access was great with me.
Guest services were wonderful, along with VIP staff and pit security besides those mentioned. I usually never have to worry about anything besides maybe flying water bottles. And even though we had to have every drink poured that night, Vincent made sure to chuck a few cases into the crowd throughout @theacaciastrain set I just really appreciate that from big D and the pit crew and PJ of course. I just wanted to thank them for that shit. Makes doing my job so much easier every time I come there. And the upstairs bartender's thanks, bros! All the dudes in the photo do a hell of a job catching gigantic rust belt crowd surfers. And keeping nerdy music photographers like myself from getting crushed by them. None of that shit goes unnoticed.
