When i was like 10 or so, my class was getting vaccines at school and i always got super nervous about them. So i sat down and was like visibly terrified so the nurse started asking me questions to distract me. With all good intentions, she looked at my shirt and asked me if i like angry birds.

I was so offended that i started explaing who perry the platypus was. I didnt even notice her giving me the vaccine until she was putting away the needle. Moral of the story, if you want to distract a kid get something wrong about their special interest. It works everytime

I think one of my favorite aspects of Phineas and Ferb is that the entire cast is a perfect example of the One Degree of Separation trope.

By it's very nature, I literally can't state how many connections each character has to each other or I'd be here all day, but it's wild.

I will talk about my favorite little example of it, though. So, Stacy knows Perry's secret identity thanks to a technicality stopping her from getting mind wiped after seeing him in action. That on it's own is funny, but she's also friends with Candace (Perry's owner who he needs to hide his identity from) and Vanessa (who also knows his identity as he fights her dad), which is hilarious. In this trio of teen girls only Candace doesn't know that her pet is a secret agent.

Dew, rolling the whiteboard in: "I'm only going over this one more time; Rain is like a shark. He's all water ghoul all the time, he's also a salt water variant, hence shark." -he doodles a little Rain with a shark outfit on- "I'm a hybrid water and fire ghoul, fresh water variant. Some people associate me with frogs, but that would only apply to earth water hybrids." Swiss, taking notes: "Okay, so what animal are you then, smart guy?" Dew, flips the whiteboard around: "The great and noble platypus." Swiss: "...I hate that that actually tracks."

Concept: Vanessa gets assigned to do one of those “research your parent(s) job” kind of projects and instead of doing the logical thing by. You know. Picking her mom. She decides to do her project on her dad instead. Cue Vanessa showing up to class with video footage of her “evil” scientist dad showing off one of his cool inventions only to get his ass handed to him two minutes later by a VERY good looking teal-haired man in a crisp vest and tie. And everyone in class is like okay wait hold on forget your dad Vanessa who is THAT 👀 and she panics and says “Oh Perry? Heeee’s. My dad’s boyfriend?” and everyone is like wait WHAT??? So we have half the class questioning why her dad’s boyfriend is beating him up (with love!! With love.) and the other half being like that’s sus actually I’ve met your dad and he’s kinda,, anyway what I’m saying is that I don’t think he could be dating someone that attractive. And obviously that makes Vanessa angry so instead of telling the truth she’s like. No no fr they’re dating they have been for years they’re just like this. Perry cares about my dad a lot (which is not a lie at all actually).

So basically this all snowballs into Vanessa trying to prove that her dad is dating the hot secret agent who is also his nemesis (?) which turns out to be not so difficult at all because Doof and Perry are just. Well you know how they are. You really don’t have to dig deep to find the weird romantic tension between them. Which leads to her classmates being like YEAH VANESSA your dad can get it!! And she’s like um gross but also yes you are correct. He deserves this. And by this I mean Perry

Every day i yearn for a human Perry meta fic post that fills me with as much joy and validation as that one post by @agentlizardofowca asking what everyone thinks human Perry's age was and almost every single person answered it was between 35 to 40.

I'd like the idea of Perry sometime (or actually, really often) serving as an "occasional assistant teacher" aka Mr. Platypus in Vanessa's class to prevent Doof from causing trouble.

But of course, those two just do it anyway.

Going to preface this post by saying it's not a hate post about making human Perry canon it's just my opinion and I know there's a lot of you out there that want it. I just want to say it out loud because if I don't I will keep thinking about it until I implode.

I don't think I would enjoy a canon human Perry, for me part of the charm he has when he's humanised is that everyone has a different version of him. Like sure there's more popular versions of him, but there's so many of them and I think us as a fandom being able to be as creative as we like with how we picture him humanised is what I love about it the most. I've been a long time lurker and I don't think I would have been driven to start participating if it wasn't for wanting to share the version of him I've been twirling around my brain for years.

The variety in interpretations is such a rare thing outside of things like books that have no visual aids. So for me at least I kind of want us to be able to keep that, every time a book I like has gotten a movie or show I've noticed that the variation in how the characters are depicted starts decreasing. I love seeing all the different ways people read the same character so much, it's genuinely what I love most about fandom.

Not to be cynical, but I also think it would disappoint a lot of people. My first thought was canon human Perry would be so cool I wonder how close I am with mine and that's what made me realise how much I don't want it. I know I would be a little bummed if there was anything that directly opposed how I see him made canon.

With a new influx of fans too - who don't know the history of the fandom and come into it with a canon version of him - I think there would be a lot more um actually type comments towards the people who choose to keep creating for their Perry. Like, I haven't been an active participator in the fandom for very long and I've already seen my fair share of comments coded that way, both at myself and others.

I just love and adore all the many versions of him and how we all see him in our own unique ways that reflect a little bit of us. Human Perry being made canon to me doesn't feel like a win because for me getting to see a million different ways to picture one character based on his personality alone is a much greater win. The diversity we already have is fantastic and I'm scared of losing it.

tl;dr I don't want to see human perry because I like the variety that comes from us being given so much creative freedom.

to be honest, i'd rather not have perryshmirtz be actually canon.

like, would it be cool? yeah! has DTVA been teasing it for months? yeah!

...would it also involve the perryshmirtz tag being filled with people going "eW WtF whYYY DisNeY i neEd eYebleAcH" [plaintext: "ew wtf whyyy Disney i need eyebleach] from people who haven't seen the show since they were ten? yes! that is 100% a thing that would happen!

and i don't want that to happen. sure, some people would have their "come to the dark side we have cookies" moment, but how many more won't? how many more will be harassing us for a ship? the pnf community is pretty chill with the whole "don't like don't read/YKINMKATO (Your Kink Is Not My Kink And That's Okay)/curate your space to your comfort and ignore/block what you don't want to see" thing but with the revival it's gonna get to a larger audience, and the larger the audience, the less nuance there is with that sort of thing.

i just want my subtext. let the ones who ship come to us.

Bi Vanessa (maybe even Stacy/Vanessa??)

Actually all the teens/young adults being bi/queer

More with the whole Baljeet and Buford thing

More with Baljeet and Isabella's heritage

Trans/queer background characters (and even jokes! there are queer jokes that could be really funny!)

Danville Pride/Pride Episode

hell, even Bi Doofenshmirtz having terrible luck with guys too

too, and I think any explicitly canon Perryshmirtz would kinda overshadow that. By a lot. And they all deserve better.
