“boys, please leave your sister alone.“ you hear your mother scold from outside of the bedroom door.
you guys got back from hawaii two days ago, but the triplets are staying in boston for an extra week before going back to LA.
“do not barge in there—” she scolds again, but it’s too late when the door swings open.
the three of them stand there panting, while marylou looks at them with her hands on her hips. it doesn’t end there; trevor comes running in and jumps on your bed.
his tail wags as he climbs onto your lap, leaving kisses on your face.
nick turns to her. “she’ll survive, mom.”
she sighs, walking out of your vision. your brothers stare at you like you’re in trouble. “we need to talk.” chris says, crossing his arms.
oh boy.
“about?”
they side eye each other. “you and nate.” matt says.
oh boy.
you clear your throat, trying not to barf everywhere. “w-what do you mean?”
“have you not seen the clips or comments?” chris asks, them now walking over to your bed and sitting. at this point, trevor has fallen asleep on your legs.
“no,” you answer, playing with the dog’s ears.
“girl.” nick tuts, pulling out his phone and tapping buttons before turning it to you. “look at this.”
you take his phone, scrolling through the comments on a tiktok.
thank GOD i’m not the only one who thought this
they HAVE to be hiding something they seem a little too close in this video😭
damn y’all detectives or something💀
imagine this is how nick, matt, and chris find out LMAOOOO
i always shipped them they seem so cute together :(
you stop scrolling the comments and watch the video. it’s a compilation of you and nate in the background.
one of the clips is when you guys were in the restaurant, and your chin rests on nate’s shoulder as the both of you look over something on his phone.
another clip is when you guys are walking, you and nate in the back of the group with his hand brushing against yours.
a few others show the way you two look at each other, eyes full of love and lust.
maybe you guys weren’t being as slick as you thought.
you hand nick’s phone back, nuzzling more into your blanket. “why didn’t you tell us?!” chris exclaims.
you shrug. “‘cause you’ll kill him.”
they roll their eyes. “we won’t kill him. we’ll threaten him.” nick clarifies.
as if that’s any better.
walking hand in hand, you and nate make way through the local park that's bare at this hour of the night. “so you’re telling me i should look out for threats?”
“yeah.” you smile, looking up at him before he gives you a sneak-attack kiss.
he sighs. “i’m kind of glad we don’t need to sneak away anymore. it got so depressing.”
you laugh, followed by an exhale. words cannot explain how much you love this kid. even though it was a hard launch to the public, you’re happy that you can show him off now. to make sure people know he’s yours and you’re his.
hopefully, no threats or killings take place by your overprotective siblings.

Hi!! I loved your post about Leo's sons sneaking out lol! I'd love to see how the other brothers would react to their kids!!
Children Of Raphael (Fluff)
Bayverse!Raphael x reader
Tumblr media
A/N: My nap did wonders, and I managed to write this! Anyway, I’m glad you liked it❤️ This time it’s Raph’s turn! Joan, Minerva and Ragnar out trouble making behind you and Raph’s backs❤️
-------------
Warnings: Spelling, you and Raphael’s kids being sneaky and cute❤️
-------------
It had been Joan and Minerva’s idea, because of course it had. Who else would come with an idea that surely their mother and father wouldn’t like. And little unsure Ragnar did not like what he overheard his sisters talk about. They would go topside without their father and mother knowing, and see the city of New York for themselves, and maybe even get some pizza. Something you and Raph’s two oldest kids always had wanted to do. But not your youngest. He was so young and did not like it. The thought of his sisters leaving the lair without his parent’s knowledge, made him jump uneasily on the spot. To 6 year old Ragnar, everything outside the lair was big and dangerous, and therefore the world above was a scary place. But his sisters had made their minds up. They were leaving tonight when you and Raph had gone to bed, whether or not Ragnar was coming along.
So that night, after Raph had gone out on patrol and you had tucked Ragnar into bed and kissed him goodnight, the young boy did something he never had done before. He changed the time on his alarm clock, just like he had heard his sisters say that they would do. And just to be sure, he added an extra alarm, should he accidentally sleep over the first one.
A few hours later, Ragner woke up to the sound of his first alarm, quickly turning it off before you would be able to hear it. He quickly gets into his clothes, before hurrying out into the big open living area, where both Joan and Mini stood, waiting just to see if their little brother would come along.
“Great”, 13 year Joan said, uncrossing her arms and letting them rest on her hips. “Now that we’re all here, let’s go”.
Mini jumped with a smile at her sister’s words, skipping towards the exit. But Ragnar on the other hand, still wasn’t too sure about their plan.
“I still don’t know if it’s a good idea”, Ragnar said, playing with the hem of his oversized sweatshirt.
Joan sighed loudly and frustrated, exercising her oldest sibling's power to the fullest. “Did you just wake up only to tell us that?”
“No…”, the small boy muttered.
“Then shut it, and let’s go”, she said, turning towards the exit. But Ragnar did not shut it, like his sister had told him to.
“But what if mom and dad notice we’re gone?...”
“You see this?”, Joan said, turning towards her little brother in a sharp swing, one hand in the air, moving like a mouth, the other pointing to the moving hand. “This is your mouth, and it keeps jabbering. Now shut up and get moving, or keep it jabbering and stay here”.
Joan turned and started walking toward the exit once more. Ragnar placed his hands on his hips, crossed his eyes, and moved his lips in an animated way, mucking his big sister’s words. Mini saw this and giggled.
“You coming?”, Mini asked, reaching out a hand. Ragnar nodded at her, still somewhat unsure of the whole situation. So his took his sister’s hand and followed Joan out of the exit, finding her waiting with a soft smile just beyond the doorway. Sure, she could be harsh on her siblings sometimes, but she would always come around, making sure that they were okay.
The three half human, half turtle kids wandered through the tunnels of the sewer, following the path their father had taken so many times, before he had the uncles would start their patrol. Mini led the way, remembering the route for all the times you had brought her to wave goodbye to Raph, hoping that it would calm her childhood temper tantrums down whenever Raph left.
Ragnar now clung to the arm of Joan, watching every shadow around him with worried eyes. In his young mind, they all looked like monsters lurking in the shadows, ready to jump at them at a moment's notice. Ragnar thought of his father taking this route to the topside almost everyday, and how brave he had to be to do so. There was no doubt in Ragnar’s mind. His dad was one of the bravest men alive.
Finally, the three kids of you and Raphael came to the ladder that led to the world above. To Ragnar, it had seemed like several hours through the dark sewers, but in actuality, it may have taken less than a few minutes. But with all those shadows and monsters that continuously caught Ragnar’s attention, it felt like forever.
“It is this way", Mini said, pointing up the ladder. “I’ve seen dad go this way each time”.
Ragnar stared up the ladder, feeling a new fear wash over him. “That’s a long way up”, he said, mouth agape.
“It’s not that far”, Joan said, sending her brother over to Mini, before grabbing a hold on the ladder steps in order to start climbing.
As Joan climbed to the top of the ladder, pushing the cover of the manhole off, Ragnar stood uneasily and looked around. It was like watching something he wasn’t allowed to see. And even as Mini wrapped an arm around him, he still didn't feel fully safe.
Once the cover was off, Joan called down to Mini, asking her to send Ragnar up first, not wishing for him to be alone in the sewer. Though Joan sometimes found her siblings to be whiny, she did not like to make them feel more unsafe than necessary, which was the reason why she stood over the hole, smiling at Ragnar as he made his way upwards, Mini following closely behind.
Once at the surface, Ragnar looked around with wide eyes. He had never been in an alleyway before, nor had he ever heard the constant noise of the city at night. The blaring sirens somewhere beyond the low rise apartment buildings, and the occasional hunk of a car horn. For a moment Ragnar wondered if this was how his father felt whenever he crawled to the surface, in order to help the NYPD catch the many criminals Ragnar so often heard about. But it was the thought of his father that suddenly caused the boy to look around in fear.
“What if dad sees us?”, Ragnar asked as Joan pulled the cover back over the manhole.
“He’s on patrol for the next few hours”, Joan said, dusting off her hands. “The city is big, so the chances of him being around are less than small. We will be home before him and before mom wakes up. They won’t notice a thing”.
“But dad is a policeman”, Ragnar muttered. “He will notice”.
“Dad is not a policeman”, Mini said, giving Ragnar a sudden nuggie over his bald head. “He’s a ninja. That’s different”.
“Doesn’t matter”, Joan said. “We’re not here to discuss dad’s profession but to see the city. Come on!”
The three kids hurried to the mouth of the alley, watching the street from a hiding spot in the shadows. They watched people walk up and down the street. Business men and women on their phones, walking with hurried steps, stressed over the conversation about money. Teenagers was laughing on the street corner, and a couple stood under the street light with their arms around each other. Mini wondered if that was what you and Raph used to do before you had kids. Just standing out in the open or on the roof with your arms around each other, looking deeply into each other.
“Where do you think dad is?”, Mini suddenly asked, looking up towards the roof at the thought of you and him in your young years.
“Right here”.
Joan almost pushed over a trash can at the sound of her father’s voice. Mini felt her soul leave her body and a shiver run down her spine. But Ragnar felt relief, running to his father with his arms open, hugging the lower half of his torso, even if Raph looked furious.
“Daddy!”, the young boy shrieked, hiding his face against Raph’s hip. Raph placed a hand on his son’s head in a comforting gesture, but his expression did not change, his other hand on his hip.
“How did you know we were out?”, Joan asked almost in disbelief.
“Your mother texted me”, Raph said. “Someone forgot to turn off their second alarm. It kept beeping until she went in to turn it off”.
Ragnar’s eyes widened. He looked up to find his father looking down at him, his sisters realizing what Raph had just said. The sound of Joan’s facepalm echoed in the alley.
“Ups”, Ragnar smiled sheepishly.
“Ups indeed”, Raph said.
Mini moved some dirt on the pavement with her foot, playing nervously with her hands. “Are we in trouble, dad?”
“Oh, yes you are”, Raph said. “All of you are grounded”.
Mini and Joan complained loudly, asking their father if he was serious. Ragnar, still too young to feel or understand the frustration of being grounded, continued to bury his face against Raph, a content smile spreading over his face.
“No complaining. Masks, now”, Raph said, holding out his hand. With a sigh the girls relented, handing their bandanas to their father. Ragnar, who was still glued to Raph’s side, did not fight nor complain when Raph took his bandana off.
Lifting Ragnar up in his arms, letting the boy hug him around his neck, Raph went to the manhole and pulled over the cover with one hand, turning to the two girls as he pointed down the black hole with a snap of his fingers. “Lair”, he said, watching as Joan and Mini dragged themselves towards the ladder, knowing fully well that you were waiting back home. Ragnar on the other hand was happy. He was going home to his mother while being carried in his father’s arms, and nothing bad had happened. At least nothing bad in Ragnar’s eyes.

Fighting Ex's pt 1
Sweet Pea X clumsy shy Reader
Synopsis: Sweet Pea wants to drag you out of your shell. When you take his side in an argument with your ex boyfriend, a trip to the Wyrm brings you outwards
Fluff
------------------------------
You drifted through the halls Friday morning, keeping your head down and pace quick, the usual, only this morning your tracks were interrupted by the gaggle of Serpents arriving. They flooded the hallways in true Southside style, loud and unapologetic. They had been here for some time now but their presence was still notable.
You crinkled your face as you struggled to get the locker door to give way. Its rusty hinges allowed access with your force, your hand slipping, sending your balance alongside it. Your hips met the ground square from behind as you felt every eye in the corridor land on you. As quick as you were on the ground you were up, sailing the top of your head right into the bottom of the locker. You cursed harshly in your mind, bringing a hand to the growing bump.
“Have you considered bubble wrapping yourself?” tension grew from your nerves at the sound of an unfamiliar voice. You glanced quickly to the side to meet the Serpents eyes, wide and smiling at you. Sweet Pea and you had few interactions in the classes you both shared but his interest in you was growing more and more by the day. You knew little about one another, with one of you desperate for that to change.
“I…umm…maybe” you breathed out, shoving your gear bag into the metal casing and almost slamming the door closed again. Your palm quickly landed on the door trying to quiet the sound.
“That'll show it” Sweet Pea smiled again.
“YN! There you are! come on I have to tell you the drama, I-” Kevin came rushing to your side, cut off by Sweet Peas presence.
“Keller's kid right? Go on then, I like to hear the drama too” his eyebrows raised, Kevin only side eyeing him before hooking an arm in yours and pulling you away. You hesitantly looked back at Sweet Pea who just gave a wave with his fingertips before laughing and rejoining his cohort.
-
“Marry, Fuck, Kill, Serpent addition” the group laughed at Veronicas idea of a game when lunch time came around.
“Don't be crass Veronica, they're like my siblings now” Jughead winced at the thought of the outcome of these answers.
“I don't care, don't play then. Kevin, which of those three over there are you marrying” Veronica pointed a long manicured finger to where Fangs, Sweet Pea and another Serpent talked just outside the common room.
“I hate those guys” Reggie cut off Kevin before he could talk, Jughead rolling his eyes and going to their defence.
“If I could marry and fuck one of them I'd be happy, you've a free house tonight, maybe I'll get my chance there” Kevin whispered to you as the group volume raised over the premise of the game. You smiled, gently bumping him with your shoulder. Kevin had become one of your only really good friends, his own friends adopting you then by proxy. They never got much out of you, instead you just listened and made your own internal judgments of them, and there was a lot to judge them for.
Sweet Pea strided over with Fangs, both sitting on an arm of the chair Jughead occupied, silence falling on the group. This peace lasted all of two minutes, abruptly ending as Reggie and other Bulldogs decided to ruffle some Serpent skin. You quickly made your exit after seeing your ex boyfriend take the first swing.
On your way back to your locker after a long day of painful classes, you walked past Sweet Pea sat on a chair outside the principal's office, the halls almost empty. You looked briefly at the darkening bruising under his eye as you ambled past.
“I should have bubbled wrapped myself” he gave you a small grin, hoping to pull you into conversation.
“Yeah maybe” said with a little shrug in return. The principal's abrupt exit with Reggie from his office silenced you both. Reggie gave Sweet Pea a blood curdling stare, only to have the Serpent look back unfazed.
“Now you both say it was the other that threw the first punch and I have no way of-”
“YNN was there” Reggie cut the Principal off before he could finish. The three pairs of eyes all landing on you. The hairs on your neck stood on their ends, Sweet Pea pulling his gaze away, accepting his fate of another bad reputation at another school. You and Reggie dated breifi, he clearly was testing what loyalty was left between you both. You glanced between the three and gulped before answering honestly.
“Reggie threw the first punch Sir.” You looked down to your feet, Sweet Peas head snapping back in your direction in disbelief.
“What the fuck YNN?!”
“Reginald! Language! You can go-” he gestured to Sweet Pea who instantly stood up without hesitation “-and you Reginald, back in here with me”.
Sweet Pea sighed a breath of relief as the two re-entered the Principal's office, he turned to thank you but you had taken off up the hallway, by passing your locker and out through the exit.
“Hey hey wait up YN” He easily met your side with his long stride, you nodded in reply to him, almost frantically turning your head to watch your bus drive off without you.
“Thanks for that”
“Don't mention it”
“Seriously that was really cool of you”
“Seriously don't mention it” you kept your voice low, looking for anyone around familiar to you and landing your eyes on Kevin. Kevin who was with Fangs and heading in your guys direction both looking very cosy.
“What a difference a day makes” Sweet Pea joked earning a small smile from you.
“Not much of a talker no?” Fangs voiced prevented your own from answering Sweet Peas question.
“Sweet Pea, Sweet Peas Girl, come on we're going to the Wyrm with Kevin….and some other people but mostly Kevin-” Fangs winked at Sweet Pea “-...gotta show him-i mean them our world" Fangs was clearly gushing over Kevin and you and Sweet Pea thought it was adorable.
“Sounds good, yn?” You bit your lip and it was driving Sweet Pea crazy.
“I-I don't know” Kevin's eyes looked at you pleadingly, he couldn't very well go to the Southside alone.
“Ah come on YN, I owe you a drink after you saved my ass”
“Oh you told them the ex hit first, nice revenge YN” Kevin nudged you. A new energy came from Sweet Pea at this information.
“I-I guess I could go for awhile” you spoke before Sweet Pea could ask questions. His delight at your agreement sent them out of his mind.
“-Great, I'll take you on my bike, Kevin can go with Fangs-” the two had already began making strides towards the motorbike lock up “-and I can bring you home whenever you want then” he beckoned you to follow him over to where he'd parked earlier. You nodded smally being reassured with the presence of Kevin at Fangs side.
~
It was later that night and after a few drinks you began to relax into the atmosphere. Kevin stayed close to you as did Sweet Pea. The buzz of the bar bouncing off the walls surrounding the booth. It was nice to hear the stories from growing up in the Serpents, not nearly as horrible as all the rumours made it seem. Sweet Pea was enjoying seeing you outside of school and you were, to your own surprise, feeling the same about him. Drinks were free flowing as a party at the bar kicked off, leaving your brain feeling a bit groggy with the increasing volume of music.
You came back from the bathroom to find Sweet Pea in an empty booth.
“Umm?”
“Well Fangs is showing Kevin...the inside of the coat closet” he gestured to the far away cabinet on the other side of the dance floor.
“Want to dance?”
“I didn't take you for the dancing type Sweet Pea”
“Plenty you don't know about me YN” he stood, taking you by the hand and leading you to the crowded dance floor. He wasn't the dancing type. He was really really not coordinated but you didn't care. You were having fun being silly with him, the alcohol and his energy taking away any self consciousness you felt, a new world of feeling. The lights flickered the colour of the rainbow as the music climbed and climbed with volume, Serpents dancing letting loose, being young dumb and free, all feelings you regularly denied yourself. Then darkness

To generate interest in my book, I've decided to share the first two chapters of Dr. Malice for free today!
Take a read and tell me what you think!
In the summer of 1989, the sleepy little town of Midway Falls, Virginia is plagued with bizarre power surges, missing people, and violent murders. Teenager Cammy Karnell finds herself at the center of it all when her brother vanishes without a trace. Determined to reunite her family, Cammy with help from her Galaga playing best friend Billy Brown investigate the bizarre occurrences going on in Midway Falls. As the rumors of government conspiracies and haunted arcades fly, the two teens come face to face with a supernatural force unlike any other in the heart of their local small town arcade. Now tasked with helping the ghost of a dead game developer remember his past and overcome his own inner demons, Cammy, Billy, and the entire population of Midway Falls are about to have the foundations of their lives rocked forever.
Tumblr media
June, 1989
“So you think I'm stupid, huh?”
A young girl rode with her older brother in his beat up red Honda Civic. The radio blared Young MC's “Bust a Move” as the two drove down through the downtown streets. The sun was setting, it was warm outside. Kids were walking down the street towards the same place the siblings were heading.
It was summer vacation, and the kids of Midway Falls were ready to have some fun.
Nick laughed, “That's what Dexter told me! He said there’s a ghost of an old man haunting Ant’s and snatches stupid little nerd kids like you straight into Hell!”
“Nick, I don't believe any of that for a minute,” the young girl said, brushing her fingers through her strawberry blonde hair, “I'm not a little kid anymore.”
“You don't believe it started bleeding out of the screen?”
“Dexter is an idiot, of course he’d believe garbage like that. That's why you hang out with him.”
“And who do you hang out with, Cammy? Huh? Huh? You're too big of a dweeb to have friends.”
Cammy huffed, “I have friends.”
“Yeah? Name one.”
“Billy is my friend.”
“Hardly counts, he’s a total dweeb. Then again, maybe that’s why you hang out with him!”
“Why don’t you keep your eyes on the road?”
Nick finally shut up and trained his eyes on the road again, singing along badly to the radio. Cammy was already getting a headache from him, but she was hoping once they got to the arcade she wouldn't have to deal with him much.
Their father was out of town on some fancy business trip. Their mother was working late, helping shut down the school before summer vacation was in full swing. Nick was going to the arcade with some of his friends, but mom insisted he couldn't leave his little sister at home. So he was forced to bring Cammy along against his will. She didn’t really want to come along with him either, but she didn’t have a choice in the matter either.
As long as she stayed out of his way, she'd be fine.
Nick sang along loudly as he punched her none too gently in the shoulder. She groaned and adjusted her glasses, already wishing she could jump out of the moving vehicle.
Finally, the car pulled up in the parking lot of a run down strip mall. Ivy snaked along the brick walls, threatening to consume them entirely. The neon lights glowed brightly on the front of the building, displaying “ANT'S ARCADE”. The “E” in “ARCADE” was flickering in and out periodically, appearing like the flashing light of a club. Other kids Cammy recognized from school were already going in. She was excited.
They got out of the car and strutted into the building. The arcade was full of kids playing on the machines, running around and watching others get high scores. Music was blaring while machines beeped and flashed bright colors. Just watching it was a thrill. Cammy couldn't wait to jump into the middle of it all.
“Shit.” Nick said, reaching into his pockets.
Cammy scowled, “You know mom said not to swear.”
“Shut up!” Nick shot back, “I forgot my quarters at home!”
“Well, sucks to be you then.”
Nick looked at her. His eyes trailed down to the purse hanging from her shoulder. He started smiling evilly.
Cammy took a few steps back, “Oh no you aren't! You did this the last time! I'm not giving you my quarters!”
“Fine then. I'll take ‘em!”
Nick snatched Cammy's purse off her shoulder, digging through it. Cammy cried out and tried to take it back, but he held it out of her reach. He pulled out all the quarters he could find and dropped it on the floor.
“Thanks, dork!” He taunted as he ran off to join his friends at the Operation Wolf cabinet, some stupid shooter war game Cammy had no interest in.
She picked her purse up off the floor and groaned. Nick had taken all of her quarters and left her with nothing. Now she couldn't play any of the games. She'd just be stuck here watching everyone else play for the next few hours.
Except...
There was someone she could talk to. Maybe he'd help her.
Cammy walked through the crowded rows of kids playing the games, reaching the front counter. An overweight balding man ran the counter, wiping down the surfaces and exchanging dollars for quarters. He wore a purple shirt with the arcade’s logo and mascot on it. His cargo shorts jingled with the sounds of quarters. When he saw Cammy, his eyes lit up and a smile crossed his face.
“Aaay! If it ain't Cammy!” He greeted her heartily, “How ya doing? How's your parents?”
Cammy smiled back at him weakly, “I'm good. They're good. Yeah. Umm... Mr. Ant, can I ask a favor?”
Mr. Ant perked a playful eyebrow, “Your brother stole your quarters again, huh?”
Cammy giggled awkwardly, “Yeah... I tried to stop him but he's too tall and held my purse out of my reach.”
Mr. Ant chuckled as he reached into his cargo shorts and pulled out a handful of quarters, handing them to Cammy, “Big brothers will be big brothers. If I see him taking your quarters again, I'll be sure to give him a firm talking to.”
Cammy grinned, taking the quarters and shoving them in her jean jacket pocket, “Thank you Mr. Ant. You're the best!”
“Go have some fun, kid,” he said to her, waving her off. She bounced away, looking for an open game to play.
That was a problem. All the games were full with kids waiting in line to play. Especially the newer games, like what Nick was playing with the pretty graphics and full colors. Cammy sighed as she walked towards the back of the arcade, where some of the older games were. There were less kids back here, but there were still quite a few taking up most of the cabinets. She'd still have to wait until her turn to play.
One of the kids was playing at the Galaga cabinet with a few of his friends. It was Cammy’s friend from school; a pudgy redhead kid named Billy Brown. Billy had just died in Galaga and was putting in his initials when he suddenly let out an angry yell.
“NQC beat my high score!!”
His friends gasped at the scoreboard. Cammy glanced at the screen to see Billy's initials, "BMB" had dropped to second place. At the first place position were the initials “NQC”. Cammy remembered hearing about Billy playing for almost ten hours straight to beat the previous high score that was previously held by NQC. Just a few days ago, he finally did it and claimed his title of number one high score on Galaga. But looking at the scoreboard, NQC had beaten that record by almost two thousand points.
The mysterious NQC held the number one record on every single cabinet in Ant's Arcade. He or she was an urban legend among the regulars at the arcade. No one ever saw them in action. No one, at least from Cammy's school, had the initials of NQC. Even skilled players couldn't come close to the same scores as NQC. Billy was one of the few who had accomplished it, and he only held it for maybe 72 hours.
“When I find NQC, I'm gonna give them a piece of my mind!” He shouted, “I can't believe they beat my high score already!!”
“I guess they're just that good,” one of his friends said, in awe at the score.
Cammy walked away from the group of boys to the very back of the arcade. Even though she was friends with Billy, she didn’t want to interrupt his game. Instead, she walked further back by the bathrooms in the corner, where one of the lights was out, leaving the corner dark. There, partially obscured by the shadows was a free cabinet. No one was playing it. Cammy approached it, looking up at the marquee. The bright red light glared down at her, illuminating the title of the game.
DR. MALICE
She had seen this game in passing when she had come to the arcade, but she never played it. Mainly because her mom told her to never play scary or violent games. And with the blood red marquee and dark cabinet design, it certainly looked like both of those.
But she just had her thirteenth birthday last month. She was a big girl. She had watched Children of the Corn with her big brother and only had nightmares for a week. She could handle anything!
The screen displayed the company name and title in fancy pixelated graphics. An animated sprite of a doctor ran across the bottom of the screen, chasing little green aliens. The screen read:
COYOPP INDUSTRIES INC.
PRESENTS
DR. MALICE
INSERT 1 COIN TO PLAY.
Cammy approached the cabinet. It was quite the intimidating machine; nearly twice her size and certainly thrice her weight. The bright red accents on the dark indigo finish seemed to glow with an almost alien-like power. She noticed there was a severe imperfection on the right side of the machine. The top part of the cabinet’s side was broken, slightly exposing the inside. It drew her curiosity even more, since she had never seen the inside of an arcade machine. She reached into her jacket pocket and pulled out a quarter, pushing it into the coin slot. She placed her hands on the joystick and buttons, feeling an odd static shock as she did. She blamed it on her shoes building up static electricity from running across the carpet.
The game took a few seconds to load up, before it came up with a new screen that read:
LEVEL ONE:
DESTROY ALL ALIENS.
Her character was loaded into what looked like a laboratory. The graphics reminded her a bit of Street Fighter, one she had seen her brother play with his friends, but wasn't allowed to play because it was “too violent”. It also reminded her of Legend of Zelda, a game she would play on her brother's NES behind his back. She moved the character between several maze-like screens. One button threw a syringe, the other was a dodge button. The remaining two buttons seemed non-functional. It was easy to get the hang of.
As she entered a new room, a green alien was in the middle of the space. It turned and started charging. Quickly, Cammy disposed of the alien by throwing the syringe. It promptly exploded into rainbow colors, which she found rather charming. As she moved through the rooms, she cleared out a few more aliens and completed the level.
CONGRATULATIONS! YOU BEAT:
LEVEL 1.
As the next level loaded up, a little cut scene began to play. It was the doctor character approaching a table with an apple sitting on it. The doctor took the apple and ate it. As he did, text popped up below the scene.
WHAT HAPPENS WHEN A DOCTOR EATS AN APPLE?
Cammy raised an eyebrow at the odd question. Just as she was about to question it more, the doctor on the screen exploded into rainbow colors. The text changed to an awkward delivery of a joke.
HE'D PROBABLY EXPLODE OR SOMETHING. APPLES KEEP DOCTORS AWAY AFTER ALL.
Cammy found herself giggling at the dry humor. Yeah, it was kind of stupid, but she found it charming. It was just her kind of humor.
Once the cut scene completed, level two loaded up. It was more of the same with slightly more challenging enemy patterns. This level introduced a small puzzle section. It was a block pushing puzzle, something Cammy was very good at. Since it was still an early level, she had no problem navigating the blocks and getting her character through the room. Once she destroyed the last alien, the game congratulated her again and loaded up another cutscene similar to the first. This time, it featured two aliens in the middle of a conversation.
WHAT DID ONE ALIEN SAY TO THE OTHER?
I HAVE NO IDEA. I DON'T SPEAK ALIEN.
The stupid joke had Cammy laughing out loud. She was ashamed to say she found these silly jokes funny, but she couldn't help it. She didn't think such a scary looking game would have such a great sense of humor.
She ended up playing through quite a few levels, each one getting progressively more difficult, but always rewarding her with a cute cut scene joke. It was challenging. She lost a couple of lives, but she was rising through the levels quickly. In fact, a few of the other children had taken notice and were watching her play, cheering her on. Wanting to seem cool to everyone, she put in her best effort and began to show off.
“She's a natural!”
“How did she get so far in that game? I only got to level five!”
“Woah, you go Cammy!”
Cammy was smiling as she played. Everyone in the arcade was impressed with her skills. She knew she could conquer this game with no problem. Just as she was about to take out an entire room of aliens, a voice from across the room yelled at her.
“Why's everyone watching this dork play?”
Cammy was suddenly pushed from the cabinet by a pair of strong hands. She nearly fell on the floor, but managed to catch her balance before tumbling over. She looked up and saw her brother now standing at the cabinet. She watched in horror as her character was swarmed by aliens and she lost her last life, all thanks to her brother screwing her up.
GAME OVER.
Everyone was actually on her side and booed and hissed at Nick for ruining the game. Nick, being the jackass he was, didn't care.
“You guys really watching a girl play this stupid game?” he asked, “Betcha I can get to level thirteen on one quarter, no problem!”
Nick gloated more before he popped in a quarter, one of Cammy's quarters no less, and started a new game. The level loaded up again, putting Nick in a room with an alien. Not expecting to immediately face an enemy, Nick’s character was attacked and lost his first life. The kids started to laugh.
“Uh, uh, I'm just getting started,” he said nervously.
Cammy was entertained by the comedic timing of his death. Though in the back of her mind, she could have sworn there wasn't an enemy when she loaded up the first level.
Nick tried again, killing the first alien. He moved to the next room and was bombarded with three aliens. He managed to take out two before the last one got his character. He was already on his last life. The audience of children were snickering at his failure to even get halfway into the first level.
“I'm just getting started! Cammy had beginner's luck!” he insisted.
Once again, he loaded up the first level, killed the first alien, then moved into the next room to kill the three aliens. He moved into an empty room. Nick chuckled to himself as he moved the character through. But once the doctor reached the middle of the room, a hole opened up under him, and he disappeared.
YOU HAVE FALLEN INTO A PITFALL.
Nick was flabbergasted. The other kids continued to laugh at Nick's failed attempt to outdo his little sister. Cammy raised an eyebrow. Now that definitely hadn't been there when she played.
GAME OVER.
Underneath the game over was a sentence that almost seemed to be written in a snarky way.
YOU AREN'T THE SHARPEST KNIFE IN THE DRAWER.
ARE YOU?
The laughter of the other children turned even louder at reading this. Nick's face turned red with a combination of embarrassment and rage.
“Did this piece of garbage just call me stupid?!” He demanded, backing away from the machine.
Cammy snickered under her breath, “Well, it confirmed what we already knew.”
The other children cackled at her snarky remark. Nick clenched his fists, glaring at Cammy before he turned back to the machine. He went around to the side of it, where the top part of the machine was partially broken. Breathing in heavy breaths, Nick shouted.
“YOU'RE THE STUPID PIECE OF SHIT!”
He drew back his leg and kicked the side of the machine hard enough to cause it to wobble. The already broken side of the machine came loose, falling out and right on to Nick. The sharp side cut his face, causing him to pull back and cover his face in shock and pain. He shouted expletives as he tried to get his face to stop bleeding.
“WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON BACK HERE?!”
The other children, hearing the voice of an angry adult, scattered like flies, leaving Cammy and Nick alone by Dr. Malice. Mr. Ant stomped towards them, his face contorted into a scowl. He saw the broken arcade cabinet and the cut on Nick's face and immediately made the connection.
“What do you think you're doing, punk?! Tearing up my machines?! Those cost money, y'know!” Mr. Ant scolded the boy, “You gonna pay for the damages you caused? Cause I sure don't want to have to call your parents and tell them you broke one of my cabinets!”
Nick said nothing, just held his face and glared at Mr. Ant.
Mr. Ant stepped closer, speaking in a threatening voice, “What do you have to say for yourself, son?”
Nick looked down, clenching his teeth and his fists. He managed to croak out a very weak “Sorry.”
Mr. Ant sneered, “Get out of my arcade before I call the cops. Punks like you aren't welcome.”
Nick looked like he wanted to argue, but being face to face with the much larger, much scarier Mr. Ant left him speechless. He quickly darted away, holding his head down so none of the other kids would see him. The bell on the door tingled as he left.
Mr. Ant heaved a tired sigh. He turned back to Cammy, who still appeared shaken by the whole thing, “You alright, kid?”
Cammy nodded slowly, “Yeah, I'm okay, thank you.”
Mr. Ant went to pick up the side of the cabinet and try to put it back on the machine again, “Can't believe you two have the same parents. Ain't no way that little brat is related to you.”
Cammy shrugged, “I'm sorry about him.”
“Ah, don't apologize on his behalf. You're a good kid. You shouldn't have to put up with the likes of him.”
Mr. Ant was trying to put the side of the cabinet back into place, but the harsh kick from Nick had dented it in a way that it wouldn't fit properly. He swore under his breath. Cammy picked up on this and approached him.
“Are you okay, Mr. Ant?”
Mr. Ant looked down at her, his face contorted in frustration, “Huh? Oh, uh, yeah, yeah I'm alright. It's just this cabinet belonged to a very close friend of mine. It's one of the few things I have to remember him by.”
“So my brother kicking it was like an extra kick in the gut to you, huh?”
“You could say that, yeah.”
Mr. Ant reached into his pocket and produced a roll of duct tape. He looked at Cammy, “Hey, you mind taping this for me while I hold it in place?”
Cammy nodded as she grabbed the tape from  Mr. Ant. She carefully taped the broken side to the front and back of the cabinet, being careful not to wrinkle the tape. As she helped Mr. Ant, she managed to get a good view of the inside of the cabinet. It was unlike anything she had ever seen before; a tangle of wires and circuit boards connecting into a large CRT screen. It was very alien and almost a bit unsettling to see what went on behind the scenes of the games. Dust was kicked up from the inside, causing her and Mr. Ant to sneeze. It was almost like no one had touched the inside in over a decade, not even to repair it. Once she was done, Mr. Ant let go and the side stayed in place. It wasn't pretty with the damages on the top, the dent in the side, and now the ugly duct tape holding it together, but it was better than the entire inside of the cabinet being exposed for children to mess with.
“It'll have to do until I can call a maintenance man,” Mr. Ant said, “Thanks for your help, Cammy.”
Cammy smiled back, “You're welcome, Mr. Ant.”
Despite all the damages done to the cabinet, the game itself still seemed to be in working order.  Mr. Ant decided to stick an “OUT OF ORDER” sign on the controls anyways, likely to prevent other kids from damaging it further. Cammy was disappointed she couldn't try the game again, but she understood.
“Listen, for all your help, I'll give ya a few more quarters to play,”  Mr. Ant said, handing her another handful of quarters, “I'll make sure your brother stays out of trouble until it's time for you to go home. Now go have some fun.”
Mr. Ant waddled away, his cargo shorts jingling with quarters, leaving Cammy alone with the game. As she stared at the imposing cabinet, she couldn't help but ponder over what had just happened. How had the difficulty suddenly spiked when her brother played it? Where did all the extra enemies and traps come from that she never ran into? Did the game somehow... Change itself for her brother? Could games even do that? Surely they couldn't...
Cammy stared at the screen. The demo of the game played quietly.
...
What the...
Maybe she was going crazy, but for a split second, Cammy thought she saw the demo glitch into something else for a moment: a screen full of glitches that seemed to be forming some kind of pattern. Two black voids empty of any data seemed to stare back at her, full of some sort of malicious feeling. But just as quickly as she saw it, it was gone again. It left her feeling uneasy and nauseous, like someone was angry. Maybe not at her...
But at someone who had done wrong.
Feeling anxious, Cammy turned her back on the machine and quickly went to the other side of the arcade, far out of view of the Dr. Malice cabinet. Maybe she was just being paranoid, but she suddenly felt as if someone was watching her every move. She decided to distract herself by playing some of the two player racing games with the other kids at the arcade, which was lots of fun. She quickly forgot about the incident with the Dr. Malice cabinet and focused on enjoying herself.
Tumblr media
Midnight rolled around at Ant's Arcade. Mr. Ant slowly ushered the kids to the front door as he started closing down the arcade, bidding them a goodnight and a safe drive home. Cammy was one of those kids. As she walked out the door with the other kids, she saw that her brother's red Honda Civic was gone from the parking lot. She gave a frustrated sigh. She'd have to see if Mr. Ant would let her use the phone so she could call her mom to come pick her up.
Just then, a pudgy ginger boy squeezed between other kids leaving the arcade. Billy Brown ran up next to Cammy, looking out of breath. He waved at Cammy excitedly.
“Are you walking home?” He asked, “I can walk with you!”
Cammy agreed, as she knew it would be safer to walk with someone rather than alone. She said goodbye to Mr. Ant and strolled down the street with Billy. Other kids were walking back to their homes, but since Cammy and Billy lived on the outskirts, they had to walk further than everyone else. Eventually, they were the only ones on the street. The orange lamps lit the dark suburban streets, bathing everything in a warm, industrial glow. Billy was a very talkative kid. He talked about movies, games, and how he was going to practice even harder to defeat the mysterious NQC.
“Who do you think NQC is, Cammy?” he asked.
Cammy shrugged, “Your guess is as good as mine. But I'm sure they're one of the best players in the entire city. Maybe even the entire state.”
They walked in silence only for a little while before Billy spoke up again.
“I saw what your brother did to that machine,” he said solemnly, “What a jerk. And he left you here? Total dweeb. Him and Dexter and all their friends are a bunch of dweebs.”
Cammy chuckled, “Yeah, they are. I wish Nick never met Dexter, but I can't really stop them from being friends.”
“Dexter's the biggest jerk. I wish I was bigger and stronger, and then I can beat him up myself!”
They walked along. The only sound in the night was the occasional car passing by. They came across two lone vending machines, the low hum of their light breaking through the quiet night.
“Hold on, I wanna buy a candy bar.” Billy said, approaching the machines. He reached into his pocket and pulled out a dollar, putting it into the machine. The machine rejected the dollar at first, spitting it back out.
“Rats.” Billy said as he put the dollar back in. It once again spit the dollar back out, making him sigh, “These things never take my dollars!”
With a little more patience, Billy managed to get the machine to accept the dollar. With it, he punched in the numbers for a candy bar. As the machine began to eject the snack, there was a sudden surge of light before everything on the street turned pitch black. Billy screamed in fright while Cammy jumped back, startled at the sudden darkness around them. Just as quickly as the power went out, it came back on. Billy was holding on to the vending machine, looking terrified out of his mind. He locked eyes with Cammy and chuckled nervously.
“I uh... That wasn't me who screamed like a little girl!” he assured her as he tried to look strong by puffing out his chest.
Cammy looked around, her nerves a bit frayed, “More power surges. There’s been a lot lately.”
Billy distracted himself by grabbing the snack out of the machine. He looked out in the distance over the hills and fields to a well lit collection of buildings. Tall smokestacks rose into the air, spitting out smoke into the otherwise clear night sky. The harsh lights made the industrial area intimidating and unwelcoming. On the side of the largest building was a sign with a company name, both in English and Japanese:
JOUZU APPLIANCES AND ELECTRONICS MANUFACTURING.
“My mom said it’s because of that factory they built last year.” Billy said, “She said something about they’re taking all our energy! I voted against it last year but they still built it! Or something like that. I don’t know. I stopped listening ‘cause she started ranting about the government.”
Cammy remembered her parents talking about a factory that was being built last year, and how so many residents of Midway Falls didn’t want it built here. But the government of the town went ahead and okayed the building anyway. It only started production a few months ago, but already it seemed to be causing problems. Most notably with the frequent surges that plagued the power grid. Lots of residents were getting angry. Some had even begun protesting outside the factory’s doors. But it was a fruitless effort. Cammy didn’t really understand why the adults were so riled up by it, but she agreed the surges were annoying and scary.
The two continued on at a faster rate this time, startled by the power surge. They reached the entrance of their neighborhood, where only the low hum of the street lamps cut through the dead silence of the night.
Cammy looked up, checking over her shoulder.
“What's wrong?” Billy asked, already digging into his candy bar.
“Did you hear that?”
“No. What is it?”
“It sounded like... Something heavy. Like it was being moved across the pavement.”
“I didn't hear anything.”
Cammy paused, trying to listen over the buzz of the street lamps. She didn't hear the noise again. Perhaps she was just imagining things.
“Sorry, I think the power surge freaked me out a little bit,” She said, continuing to walk.
“That's okay,” Billy replied with a chocolate covered smile, “I can take out anyone who tries to mess with us. I promise!
They had finally reached Cammy's house at the end of the street. Billy finished off his candy bar and waved goodbye to her. The front porch was decorated with flowers and old rusting iron chairs. As she approached the porch, she was about to knock on it. She was startled as the door swung open and her mother April stood there, her keys in hand and in her pajamas. She looked down at Cammy, her expression partially obscured by her glasses and messy brown hair.
“Camellia! My goodness there you are!” she cried, taking her in a tight hug, “How did you get home?!”
Cammy, startled by the affection, spoke into her mother's shoulder, “I walked home with Billy.”
“Oh thank goodness, I was just about to come get you!” April said, bringing her inside the home, “To say I was worried when Nicholas came home without you... Well, that would have been an understatement!”
As they entered the kitchen, Cammy saw Nick sitting at the dining table. He had a bandage on his face and seemed to be avoiding their gaze. He looked ashamed. The kitchen was filled with the scent of cigarette smoke, overpowering the nice flowers that sat on the counter.
“Mr. Anthony left me a message on the answering machine,” April said, her tone suddenly becoming serious as she turned towards Nick, “He told me everything Nicholas did at the arcade, including pushing his little sister and stealing her quarters. Not only that, but he came home smelling like cigarette smoke again!”
Nick didn't look at them.
“Nicolas Robert Karnell, you better apologize to your sister right this minute,” April demanded, her tone slipping into that threatening mother tone, the tone all moms used when they wanted you to know you had really screwed up.
Nick hesitated, refusing to look up from the floor. He finally spoke, sounding none too sincere, “Sorry Cammy.”
April didn't look particularly happy with his tone, but decided to turn away and speak with Cammy, “Camellia honey, will you please go to your room for the rest of the night? I need to speak with your brother alone.”
Cammy quickly left the kitchen, going upstairs to her room. For the rest of her night, she stayed upstairs. As she moved around from the bathroom to her bedroom, she could hear her mother yelling at Nick, asking things like what was wrong with him, why he thought that was okay, was he doing it to impress Dexter and his friends, so on and so forth. She barely heard a peep out of Nick during the scolding. Finally, once Cammy turned out her lights and got into bed, she heard the sound of Nick's footsteps stomping up the stairs and into his room across the hall. He slammed the door hard enough to shake the walls. There was no doubt about it, he was grounded for a good few weeks, maybe even a month or more.
Cammy breathed a sigh of relief. At least Nick got a comeuppance for his poor behavior tonight. She snuggled into her sheets and fell fast asleep.
That night, Nick struggled to fall asleep. The cut on his face made it difficult to lay on that side of his body, since the pillow was pressing into the wound. The harsh scolding he had received from his mother also wasn't helping. He sighed as he stared up at the ceiling. He sat up and checked the clock on his night stand.
1:35 AM
Nick swore under his breath as he tried yet again to lay on his side. The cut hurt too much to put pressure on, so he returned to laying on his back. He closed his eyes and started to drift off.
Sniff sniff...
What was that weird smell?
Nick sat up again. His room was empty. He checked the clock on his nightstand again.
2:11 AM
Nick laid back down again. He swore he smelled something. Like... Something mechanical and coppery. Kind of like the smell of change. He felt... Oddly paranoid. He couldn't place why, but he was finding it impossible to go to sleep. Maybe it was all the yelling he had endured from his mother. Maybe he was feeling... Guilty.
Nick closed his eyes again. When he opened them, he was laying on his side facing the clock. Through his grogginess, he saw something... Odd.
  :     AM
Maybe another power surge had happened during the night while he dozed off and reset his clock. He didn't worry too much about it and dozed off again. He woke up again, feeling... Uncomfortable. He checked the clock again, and found a rather unsettling sight.
8:88 AM
Was the clock broken? That definitely wasn't right. As he sat up to reach for it, he froze. In the corner of his eye was something at the foot of his bed. Something... Tall. Solid. Unmoving. Nick turned, slowly, terrified at the prospect of someone invading his room. He faced the intruder head on.
It was an arcade machine, turned off, completely dead.
To say it startled him would have been an understatement, but he quickly started to laugh it off.
“Okay, you guys got me. That's really funny,” he said with a weak laugh, “You can come out now Cammy, I know this was a prank.”
As he stared at the machine, common sense got the better of him. How in the world would his petite sister get this giant thing into his room? Much less up the stairs and through the doorway?
How did this thing get into his room at this hour of the night?
Just then, Nick jumped as the marquee of the machine suddenly flipped on. He was bathed in a bright red light, illuminating his entire room. He looked down on the floor where a power cord from the machine was sitting.
Completely unplugged.
Nick dared to look up at the marquee. In stark red pixelated letters read the title.
DR. MALICE
A noise started to reverberate from the machine. A deep, synthy bass noise that rose and fell, almost like the breathing of a human.
“What... The... Hell…” Nick breathed, his voice catching in his throat.
Another noise came from the machine. This time, it was a voice, deeply compressed and bit-crushed. It spoke quietly, but just loud enough for Nick to hear it. It chilled him to the core.
“You… You think you're above the consequences?”
Nick started to say something, but felt as if his voice had been snatched from him. It was as if his throat was full of electrified needles, preventing him from speaking. His whole body became numb, like he had lost control of everything.
A deep, almost sadistic chuckle came from the machine, “Oh, you're gonna shut up and listen to me, boy. You've had too much time to talk. But I know just what you'd say anyways.”
The screen on the arcade machine flared to life, filled with strange, glitchy patterns. The glitches seemed to form two black holes on the screen, shaped like gouged out human eye sockets. They stared directly into Nick, seeing into the deepest recesses of his soul.
“I know your kind, Nicholas Karnell. I know what you're all about. I've seen your memories. I've seen the horrible things you've done, just to fit in. All the people you've hurt... Just to feel like you're somebody. Heh. Your kind never changes. Even after so many years.”
Nick's heart raced, thumping in his chest so loud, he could hear it in his ears. His body was soaked with sweat as he faced what he assumed was Satan himself in the form of an arcade cabinet. He wanted to apologize. He wanted to beg for forgiveness for kicking the machine. He wanted to fall at Cammy's feet and apologize for everything he had done to her. He wanted to change his ways right then and there.
But because his voice was gone, he was helpless to do anything.
The machine spoke again, the eyes on the screen narrowing into enraged slits, “You only wish to hurt the little guy. People like your sister, the so-called nerds... People... Like... Me.”
The screen turned off, but the marquee continued to glow. Another bit-crushed evil chuckle sounded from the machine. Something started to glow in the corner of the screen.
No...
Something was coming out of the screen.
A hand, a vaguely human hand, grabbed onto the edge of the controls, pulling itself forward and out, revealing an arm wearing some kind of surgical glove and white sleeve. Another hand came out of the opposite side of the screen, similar to the first. Both hands grabbed the edge of the controls and pulled with it a head full of dark, messy hair, shoulders wearing a white coat, and a chest... A chest with three distinct black spots, coated in red pixelated words that read “ERROR”. It was a man... But it was definitely not fully human. The form glitched and crackled with electricity, smelling like an electrical fire combined with the coppery scent of quarters. The voice spoke again.
“Well... Nicholas…”
The head of the... Man? Whatever it was looked up at Nick, its eyes obscured by a pair of thick glasses. It had no mouth. Only a nose and potentially eyes hiding behind the spectacles.
Wait... It did have a mouth.
No...
Where the mouth should have been was the start of a split that circled around the entire head. It was full of nothing but garbled, corrupted coding and glitches. The split opened wider, seeming to form into some kind of twisted and demented smile. The voice spoke, relishing in his fear.
“Who's the little guy now?”
The "mouth" opened wider, exposing more of the nightmarish nonsense inside as the figure grabbed Nick by the ankles. A jolt of electricity shot through his body, paralyzing him from head to toe as the monster from the cabinet slowly dragged him towards the machine. Adrenaline shot through Nick as he managed to flip over on his stomach and grab the foot of his bed, holding on for dear life. He tried to scream for Cammy, his mother, anybody, but his throat was filled with even more electrifying pins and needles than before. A sharp pain shot through Nick's side, causing him to let go of the bed frame. He was dragged into the screen of the arcade machine by the terrifying creature, disappearing from sight.
Silence. The machine sat still for a moment. The marquee slowly powered down, leaving the room in complete darkness. As silently as it had appeared, it was gone, leaving no trace of itself or the young boy it had just taken.
The clock on the nightstand read:
3:59 AM

Alrighty, I finally had a minute to sit down and smack out some of my thoughts. @itsgoghtime, I am tagging you as a full participant :)
Brought to you by the Moth Realization that I am in charge and can do whatever I want
Okay, so we're leaning more into the mirror-world stuff, with certain things being representations of real life and such.
It opens with Madge flying around the house and landing outside the window where Nathaniel is sitting, just as a little nod to the owl :>
Nathaniel is trying to fit in with his brother's family, but there are so many of them
One day, when he's trying to get some peace and quiet and read the copy of Ivanhoe that he swiped from Nicholas' office, the kids all burst into the room falling over each other and laughing and chattering and making an absurd amount of noise
Nicholas is, of course, right behind them, giggling and trying to keep from falling asleep
Nathaniel fully loses it, dropping the book and yelling at the children.
Nicholas ushers them out, and tries to calm his brother. It doesn't work, and Nathaniel just lets all of his frustrations and pent up resentment come out, shouting at his brother and leaving Nicholas stunned (and hurt)
Nathaniel storms out, going on a walk and trying to calm down after all the things he said. (He hadn't intended to get that upset, but it had all spilled over and gotten a little too close to comfort to a vulnerable heart-to-heart, so he had to leave in order to save face)
After a bit, he feels suitable under control again, and enters the house, only to find it totally empty
The place is ransacked, a complete disaster with books and papers scattered and flapping in the breeze from open windows
Nathaniel searches, but there's no one to be found, so he heads to Nicholas' office
There, he sees a suspiciously spotless room, and the Sister (We're calling her Eurus for simplicity's sake) sitting on top of Nicholas' desk, reading Ivanhoe
(She looks spooky and flashy, somehow more dramatic than Curtain but in a more old-fashioned style like Nicholas. Also purple, to round out the cool-colour sibling trio. Just look at this, because it's amazing)
Nathaniel demands to know what happened to his brother and the others, but she just laughs menacingly
Closing the book, she swings her legs off the desk, smiling at him
"Wouldn't you like to know, Natty?"
Nathaniel is affronted, and tries to cover his confusion with Awkward Curtain Bluffing
Eurus introduces herself, and mocks him further by revealing a model of Nicholas with a flourish, toying with it as they speak
"This is what you wanted, right? To be free of little Nicky and his nuisances? Now you can read your books and make your silly plans in peace."
Nathaniel vehemently states that he'd rather have his brother back to deal with on his own, please and thank you /s
(And his plans are not silly. They are genius)
"Oh, but he's mine now. I can't just give back such a fun toy. Besides, Nicholas will forget all about you soon enough, and then I'll have him and his friends to myself, permanently"
Nathaniel is, obviously, perturbed by this, and demands that she stop whatever game she is playing and return his brother and his associates
She laughs at Nathaniel again, and figurine in her hand turns into a pocket watch, with an abnormal thirteen hours on it
"Well, I do love games. And a game is no fun without some stakes to keep things exciting, so here are the rules: You have thirteen hours to win all of them back, or Nicholas stays with me. No more, no less"
She hands the pocket watch over, which starts ticking as soon as it hits Nathaniel's palm
He looks up to ask her who on earth she thinks she is, but she's gone, and so is the office
Nathaniel is standing outside a massive labyrinth, with no discernible entrance
As he's looking around, who should he find but Dr. Garrison!
Or, not Dr. Garrison, since she's wearing strange clothes and looks at him with confusion
(It doesn't matter, but I think she'd be wearing a typical fantasy poet shirt/tunic, red vest, and probably black pants. Her hair's braided, instead of cropped short or that longer style she kept in a bun)
Nathaniel addresses her and demands to know what's going on, and why she's a part of this ridiculous farce
Not-Garrison responds to her name, but maintains that she's never seen him before. She explains that she's the caretaker of the Labyrinth
Nathaniel sarcastically asks if she'll let him enter, and she shows him the gate
Nathaniel enters the Labyrinth alone and is confronted with a huge, apparently endless hallway that continues on in the same way for as far as he can see
(Part of me wants to include the Atrocious Hallway Painting just because)
Eventually, he stops, seeing that he's wasted a lot of time, and still gotten nowhere
As he's standing there, cursing the insanity of his situation, SQ appears!
(Also in different clothes! I know these aren't important, but I am a highly visual person and I love the artistic style of the movie, so we're going to have a lot of side-notes about how stuff looks)
(SQ is wearing a dark blue jacket [Slightly reminiscent of his dad's colors] and a red scarf, and carrying his sketchbook)
Nathaniel is startled by this, of course, but SQ introduces himself as if they haven't met before
Nathaniel carefully asks him what he's doing there, and SQ tells him he's been drawing some of the interesting creatures that live in the Labyrinth
SQ then inquires as to what Nathaniel is doing, and he exasperatedly explains that he's trying to get to the centre, but the whole thing is nonsensical and the endless hallway must be a trick designed to keep him from winning
SQ asks why he doesn't take a break, but when Nathaniel refuses, he says (somewhat cryptically) that maybe he just needs to look at things from a different perspective
**Clever Metaphor Plot Shenanigans Ensue**
And Nathaniel enters a new part of the Labyrinth
CUT TO WHAT EURUS IS DOING
Nicholas awakens in a spooky castle
He wanders through, looking for other people, but finds no one
Eventually, he comes across some guards, but they do not acknowledge him in any way, so he continues searching
He enters a weird throne room/office thing filled with books
(It looks like a warped version of his office, with lots of shelves and stacks of books all around, empty picture frames, a potted violet in the corner, and a big, impressive throne made of books in the middle)
He finds his copy of Ivanhoe on the ground, and opens it
This, and all the other books, are blank
Eurus appears, sitting on the throne and watching him
Nicholas tries to politely and calmly ask about what's going on, but she ignores his questions
Instead, she asks him about why he's bothered, since he obviously doesn't care about his family
And of course Nicholas is aghast at this and starts panicking over what she's done to the others
She goes on a spiel about how he left Nathaniel and he doesn't really care about his family and how he's only being so nice to Number Two/Rhonda/Milligan/the kids out of guilt
(She's kind of a terrible person in this, in case you hadn't noticed)
And Nicholas is horribly upset and trying to keep a lid on his emotions, when she gets up and walks over to him
"Now, wouldn't you like to be free of that guilt? To not have to worry about all of those strays you took in to make yourself feel like a good person? You're better off alone, you know that, so why not embrace it?"
CUT BACK TO NATHANIEL
Nathaniel comes across two doors, with Jackson and Jillson standing in front of them!
(Jackson is wearing a royal blue doublet/pants, and Jillson is wearing the same but in red. Both have floppy bard hats on)
Together, they communicate that one of them only tells the truth, and one only tells lies
(I've learned this is called a type of logic puzzle called "Knights and Knaves!)
One door leads closer to the castle, and one to "certain doom"
After some typical banter and circular logic, Nathaniel discovers which door to go through
He enters, and falls down into an oubliette
Garrison appears to let him out, and tries to get him to leave the Labyrinth
Nathaniel persuades her to guide him to the castle, and the two set off
(Garrison somewhat reluctantly)
They continue on their way for a bit, before Eurus shows up again
Nathaniel takes the opportunity to complain and ask why on earth she's doing this
She chooses not to answer this, and instead asks Garrison what she thinks she's doing
Garrison responds with cagey assurances that she hasn't forgotten her job in this, and Eurus threatens that she better not
Nathaniel demands to know what she's done with Nicholas, but she tells him that showing him would be cheating, and she isn't about to let the game end early
He asserts his confidence in being able to beat her, at which point she offers to make it more of a challenge
Eurus disappears and a huge machine starts pushing its way through the hall, about to crush Nathaniel and Garrison
Luckily, they escape, and find themselves in an upper part of the Labyrinth
In that area is Kate and Reynie!
(Reynie is wearing a brown tunic with a belt, and Kate is wearing a red tailcoat with feather designs)
The two of them are bickering about the way to the castle, and Nathaniel hesitantly approaches
He's used to the way things work now, and resigns himself to the fact that they are not going to be the people he knows normally
Eventually, he's able to get some even more cryptic advice from them, and he picks a random direction in frustration
Garrison attempts to leave him, but he steals her notebook and makes her agree to help him
Immediately after this, sounds of fighting come from nearby, and Garrison runs off
That's all I've got for now, but I will be adding onto this in a bit! Apparently this is the new thing my brain is refusing to let go, so we'll see what happens

Arkhelios Adventures
Tumblr media
“Adam?”
Theo’s voice echoed across the gilded library while his eyes scanned for his missing friend.
“You’ve been gone awhile and I was getting worried.”
After pushing Victoriana on the swings outside for half an hour, Theo went in search of his friend. He could only tolerate younger kids for so long, even if they were only a few years younger than him. It was bad enough having to babysit his many siblings. When the twins were older, Theo couldn’t wait to have them relieve him of his babysitting duties.
Adam didn’t answer his call, but Theo could make out a soft melody wafting down the hall. Someone was playing a piano and whoever it was, they were pretty good at it.
Tumblr media
When Theo turned down the hall, he found the source of the haunting melody. It was Adam. Theo knew that his friend had taken piano lessons as a child, same as Theo had to, but he’d never realized that Adam was this good. Adam looked blissfully unaware of Theo’s presence, caught up in the piece he was playing.
Tumblr media
He’s perfect. How is he playing like that?
Theo watched his crush intently, his eyes drawn to the way Adam’s fingers hit all the necessary keys in quick succession. His rhythm never wavered and his body softly rocked in synchronization with the melody.
It was beautiful and mesmerizing to watch, but also oddly private. Though he couldn’t properly explain it, Theo felt wrong watching Adam play, like he was intruding on something personal and secret. This felt like seeing an exposed piece of his friend’s soul, laid bare for anyone to see. No matter how hard he tried, Theo couldn’t look away. The vulnerability he witnessed was addicting.
“Stop lurking in the corner and come play with me. You know how right?”
Theo startled out of his trance immediately, feeling his face flush once again.
“Uh...I think so,” he replied nervously. “I don’t think I’ve ever played that piece before though. What is it?”
Tumblr media
“It’s an old Pleasantview ballad,” Adam explained, pointing to the sheet music in front of him. “Back when it was still called Tredony. A pirate princess falls in love with the son of a noble and war breaks out. The princess was supposedly my ancestor, or so my mom says. My mom used to play it for us when we were kids.”
“It’s beautiful,” Theo said earnestly. “I don’t know if I can do it justice. My dads pretty much gave up on paying for piano lessons after it got too expensive.”
“Just follow me then.” Adam placed Theo’s fingers on the ivory keys, manipulating them into place. Theo’s breath caught in his throat as he felt the sensation of Adam’s skin touching his, of directing his fingers where he needed them to be. “Just like this, hit these keys first.”
Tumblr media
“Adam? Theo? Where are you two? You’d better not be hooking up in the hall closet! It’s almost time to go.”
Tumblr media
Remy peered down the hall, hearing the same melody that had tempted Theo. She recognized the song as one of her brother’s favourites, which likely meant that she had finally found his location in the large castle.
When she found Adam, she suddenly wished that she had walked in on him kissing Theo like she’d feared. What she was witness to was far worse. The two of them were side to side, sharing the piano bench, weaving their limbs awkwardly to hit the notes of the song. Both boys were oblivious to her presence, lost together in the melody they were making. The whole scene felt like she was intruding on an intimate moment between them, just as private as if she had found them naked together.
Tumblr media
“Oh, Adam, you’re an idiot,” she sighed. If her brother heard her, he didn’t acknowledge her comment. “Just ask the guy out already, this is getting embarrassing.”
“Did you find your brother? The queen had another thought about his ceremonial robe for the service.”
Ewan Maricourt paused at his daughter’s side and followed her gaze to where his son was sharing the piano.
“I can’t keep dealing with those two,” Remy complained. “They’re hopeless. Can’t you just brew them a truth serum or a love potion that could deal with this?”
She waved her hand in the direction of her brother, but her father only laughed.
“Honey, leave your brother to settle his own life. You can’t rush with matters of the heart,” he advised, giving Remy a sympathetic side hug. “Would you like your brother to interfere with your crush? These things can take time.”
“What crush?” Remy demanded, feeling her face suddenly flush with embarrassment. “I don’t have a crush on anyone! Who told you I did? They’re lying! If it was Adam, then-”
“Patience, dear,” Ewan interrupted with a laugh. “Go tell your brother that the queen needs him for a moment. I have a feeling that he’ll appreciate you breaking this scene up over his dad."
Remy scoffed as her father turned to return to the queen. She didn’t have a crush on anyone. She and her friend were just that- friends.
Still, her orders were clear. She was to deliver Adam back to the monarch at all costs.
“Hey! Romeo!” She picked up a nearby decorative pillow from the closest couch and whipped it towards her twin’s head. Her throw was pretty decent, considering that it hit Adam square on the head and ricocheted into Theo’s face, knocking his glasses to the floor. “The queen needs to see you, ASAP. "

my freedom
Steve Harrington x fem reader
warning: fluff.
Tumblr media
There you are, pinned to the door of the creel house, he’s got you now. You’re screaming for help, for Steve, not like it’s much help. There they search the house, your bag, everywhere looking for your Walkman and your favorite song. “Y/N! HURRY UP ALREADY!” Dustin yelled out from the living area of your trailer. Nancy and Robin are searching through your bras and panties, Eddie and Lucas are searching through boxes in the hall closet, Erica and Max are looking in your actual closet and under your bed, and Steve is trying to help but he’s more worried about you. “I FOUND HER WALKMEN!” Max yelled running to Dustin placing the headphones on your head. “WHO KNOWS HER BEST!?” Eddie yelled loudly at everyone. “F/S! I FOUND IT.” Nancy screamed running to you quickly putting the tape in the Walkman. Vecnas close telling you it’s time when you hear your song playing. Sigh of relief washes over you, Vecnas turns and sees an opening and your friends standing at the edge of it screaming your name. And a brief moment you swing your legs and kick Vecna. He releases you from his grasp, and you start running towards your friends. You screamed as soon as you got close enough to where your friends are. When you return to your friends You fall into Dustin’s arms, crying. “Shit, first Chrissy, then Fred, then Patrick, he almost got max, now me.” you sat on the floor next to Dustin. Steve just watched from the hallway as you talked to the group. Explaining why vecna was after you, the trauma you went through. Steve just watched you talk about your mental and physical, how you used to blame yourself for not being able to save your younger siblings. After a while your voice had vanished from his ears all he heard was silence as he watched you. All he thought about was protecting you. “and they died shortly after I left in a house fire. And I blamed myself for so long. So vecna is feeding off that, the guilt and hatred i have.” you spoke, catching Steve's attention, finally. “He won’t touch you," Steve smiled slightly, which made your heart flutter, he wanted to protect you. “ both of you, we won’t let him.” he added, looking at you and max. Of course he says that. you thought you knew he would never show his feelings for you. “Comforting Harrington, really comforting.” you had said sarcastically. Everyone and their parents knew that you and Steve were crushing on each other hard ,however you and Steve were oblivious to your feelings for one another. A few hours had passed Steve was driving you, Eddie, robin, max, Lucas, Erica, and Dustin were on your way to Steve's house. robin was sitting in the passenger seat, in the back seats were max, Lucas, and Erica, and in the trunk basically was you and Dustin. Eddie was laid down next to you with a blanket covering most of him. “How did life get so fucked?” you half joked, talking to Eddie and Dustin, tiling your head up slightly leaning it against the window of the car. Steve had blocked out everyone and everything while he drove, thinking about you. Your eyes, your smile, your laugh, your voice. He looked at you in his rear view, he watched you as you talked to Dustin and Eddie, only for a short while. Pulling up to Steve's house it was around midnight, the kids snuck Eddie in, robin, you and Steve stayed outside catching the crisp cool air. “I'm gonna make sure they don’t fuck anything up.” Steve smiled walking inside, leaving you and Robin alone. “Robin, don’t start.” was all you could say at the moment. ”I'm going to start, Steve likes you a lot Y/N. He always stares at you, when you come into the store, I make fun of him for it all the time. As a matter of fact, he often calls me at like 3am to talk about you and how pretty you are, how your eyes shine in the sunlight, or how nice your hair looked that day. Honestly, it's annoying.” she ranted. “Robi, I like him so much. However, with everything going on I can't act on my feelings yet. I have a target on my back now from vecna, I live in a trailer with my ex boyfriend, I have severe trauma from my childhood, i lost everything already, but i refuse to lose Steve. he's my safe space, my home, my heart, my love, My freedom.” you finished your speech, you hadn’t even realized that you were looking at your feet, or the tears falling from your eyes. That was till robin placed her hands to your face wiping the tears that had fallen away. “Oh honey, there might never be a good time to tell him how you feel or a good way to say it. You just have to do it.” Robin smiled, you were quick to hug her. It was around 2am and everyone was asleep, except for you. You were sitting outside on a pool chair headphones on playing your song. You felt a tap on your shoulder. you turn to see Steve, shirtless and in sweatpants, he smiled slightly at you. “Why are you still up?” he asked, he sat next to you. “Thinking,” you said. “About what exactly?” he asked. “You, no time will be right for this but who knows when or who vecna is gonna go after. So, I might as well speak now or never speak again.” You said looking over at Steve, he had a look of concern and confusion on his face. “I am in love with you, why did it take me this long? I have no idea, but I'm glad I've held my tongue this long. Why? Because I feel like now would be the best time. Steve, you are everything to me, you are my safe space, my home, my heart, my love, My freedom.” you finished and looked over at Steve. “Finally, I have been wanting to tell you my feelings for months now. I'm glad you said something first, because I know that I would most likely start rambling like an idiot.”  he smiled and leaned in close. His breath is warm, lips barely touching yours. It was a form of torture to you, he's so close and so far. Finally, you had enough and closed the small gap between you both. He placed his hands on your waist pulling onto his lap and one hand left your waist and made a claim on your neck. Which deepened the kiss, his tongue slid across your bottom lip you pulled away to catch your breath. “ Let's save that for another time, Harrington.” you chuckled, Steve laughed with you. “I've waited long enough to kiss you, I can wait a little longer for that, Y/L/N.” he smiled. He soon picked you up and took you to his room. “Now, lets get some sleep.” he said, putting your cassette in his boom box to play your song. Steve laid next to you and kissed your forehead and soon you fell asleep. Yeah this is your freedom.

7 - Forgotten Past
““Come forth, my Lady. The King will see you now.” Her royal chancellor bellowed, followed by a gentle laugh. “His Majesty is waiting for you, Princess.””
“Thank you again, Horiv.” Kjoha giggled. “Your silliness is always a welcome morning gift.”
Entering the massive main hall, Kjoha made her way towards her elder brother, Catiel. The Kingdom of Valluga had completed its hearings for today, and now was finally time for the two siblings to bond once more.
“Catiel!” Kjoha exclaimed as she rushed the throne. “Come, Catiel! Let’s play in the garden today!”
“Ah, Kjoha,” Catiel hummed, fixing his large cape, “yes. We can do that.” His arm rested upon his towering scepter, the likes of which Kjoha always envied. One day, she too would have a grand scepter like he!
He allowed her to lead him from the area, his longer legs keeping pace as she sprinted across the golden floors.
Outside in the garden, the sun was blocked by large tinted windows, allowing only a fraction of the light into their sanctuary. Flowers still bloomed magnificently so, thanks to a magic her brother had perfected himself. Keeping them safe, yet allowing them to see the sun without fear.
Yes, Catiel truly was amazing!
Kjoha played freely amongst the blossoms, dancing under the falling petals of a blooming willow. Catiel came along, simply watching as she fluttered about.
However, as they carried on, he became encumbered quickly by his heavy woolen cape. Catiel made a move to remove it, and he set it down upon their swinging bench beneath the large willow. It came as quite a shock to Kjoha; she’d never seen him without it!
“Catiel,” Kjoha began, her voice echoing her concern, “what’s wrong with your back?”
Her brother’s movements slowed. For a moment, there was a thick, tense silence. Kjoha wasn’t sure what she said, but she’d never feared her brother before. A breathy laugh echoed from the Vampire King, and he looked over his shoulder with an unreadable smile. A brief chill fell over the girl.
“Would you truly like to know, Kjoha?” He asked gently, “I think you’re old enough now to hear the story...”
“Um…” Kjoha nodded hesitantly. The spiraling runes on his spine, glowing a harsh green color, and the deep scars on his flesh didn’t bode well to what kind of story he was planning to tell her.
“Well, it was quite a long time ago. You were still very young.” He turned to her finally, resting against his scepter. “I was very good friends with a sorceress named Iryleth.”
“You see, Iryleth and I were students together, learning under the royal sorcerer himself. We studied hard, became impeccable magic users, and passed our final tests in the arena.” He mused. “However, there was one problem: only one of us could become his apprentice.”
“What happened?” Kjoha leaned in.
“Well, let’s just say Iryleth didn’t make it to the finals.”
The tone of his voice was sinister.
“Iryleth had been cheating, you see. She’d been dabbling in dark arts! Necromancy!” Catiel threw up his arms. “She planned to kill me, just like she had done to our classmates.”
“No! But she was your friend!” Kjoha despaired.
“Oh, I know. It was so tragic… so tragic, in fact, that no one thought to question it.” Catiel hummed, turning away from the girl. He began to walk, and Kjoha could only trail along.
“Wait... What?”
“Oh but I pity poor Iryleth, though,” he chuckled, “she was so easy to frame.”
Kjoha paused in place. Her heart ran faster. “Frame? ...C-Catiel?”
“Oh yes. Iryleth never did anything wrong; in fact, she always was much better than I was.” He spun the scepter in his hand. “...But no one could blame the prince, could they? They wouldn’t dare to think such a thing! And after all those poor kids went missing…”
Kjoha couldn’t believe was she was hearing! Had no one ever told her the truth? Did her parents know about this?!
“...Besides, her staff was always much nicer. A shame she didn’t need it to hex me.” He sighed. “So now my spine crawls evermore with the ‘weight of my actions’, she says. Pah. She’s lucky I can’t fix it myself; I’d have her killed already.”
“...wh… why?”
Catiel glanced back. “Why what, Kjoha?”
“...Why would you do that to your friend…?” Kjoha questioned, tears in her eyes.
The King merely scowled.
“You’ll do what it takes to survive, Kjoha. When you’re older, you’ll take care to remember that.”

Hello, this is my first story! It’s of no already excising character, just a little story I’ve been working on.
WARNINGS: Teeth being pulled out, blood and hanging. Lmk if I missed anything!
2.2 k words
An uninhabited house, standing right in the middle of a gloomy park, was a tempting place for the kids from the neighborhood.
Although no one had lived in the house for 60 years there always seemed to be someone in the windows.
There were always voices, laughing or fighting.
If you looked through the window you could get a glimpse of two small blurry siblings playing with dolls together, smiling, laughing that joyous laugh only small children could.
If you just so happened to be walking by the house, not knowing of the stories, it would just seem like a rundown house, a family home, where these two children were gonna grow up with their parents teaching them everything there is to know.
But if you knew the stories, you stayed away. No one wanted to even walk by the house, see the people happily living there, knowing that there was no chance of them actually being there, no way of them actually existing.
Everyone avoided the house, except for the group of those innocent, curious children that is.
The parents kept telling the children to never get close to the house, that it could collapse on them since it was such an old house, it was an obvious lie but everyone still complied.
The children didn’t really care to break their parents' wishes, not understanding the gravity of their warnings.
The old, rotten oak tree outside the house didn’t help with how frightening it seemed.
The tree that had seemed to have an old tire swing tied to it, which had now rotted away and was gone, however, the markings in the biggest tree branch from the rope swing was still there after all these years.
At least that’s what they said had been hanging from the branch.
That, of course, was not true, but something had been tied to that tree for a very long time without anyone doing anything about it, too afraid to get close to the unknown thing hanging up there.
Three 14 year olds had decided to get into the house, wanting to tell everyone and anyone at school that they had been in the house, needing proof of it as well.
It wasn’t hard to get into the house, it wasn’t boarded up and the door was slightly agape, yet it had managed to never have any intruders, until now.
The children went into the dark red abandoned house through the door, feeling smug about themself and how easy it was to get inside.
They had to be careful, the floorboards were rotten and broken, making many gaps in the floor.
To not get stuck in one of the openings they had to constantly pay attention to where they placed their feet, which was the reason they didn’t notice anything going on around them.
They didn’t notice how the old photos on the walls seemed to be following them with their eyes every time they took a step, slowly making their different ways deeper into the house.
They also didn’t seem to notice how similar the people in the pictures looked to that family you could often see in the house, of course it made sense, it was their house, but what was unusual was that little girl that would always play with her brother downstairs had her head to the side, face blurry, rope burns around her neck, blood coming out of her mouth, eyes glassy and staring blankly at them from the pictures.
She smiled sweetly at them, just like her brother. Although his head was smashed in, hole in his head and hair covered in blood, blurry face but every detail of his face visible, he still smiled at them. A toothless smile, it would’ve seemed usual, his milk teeth falling out, like they usually do at that age, but they hadn’t fallen, they had been pulled out.
The children, too busy to not fall through the floor, also didn’t seem to notice how they couldn’t seem to keep together. They all went to different rooms, without even noticing, all in their own heads about the house.
The oldest of the group, Jimmy, ended up in the bedroom upstairs, expecting the floors to be better on the second floor.
The wallpaper was coming off, there was moisture damage and mold in every corner.
It was a children's room, two smaller beds on each side of the room, a dresser between them, a small table in the corner and old, broken toys laying messy all over the floor.
It was obvious that this had been the siblings' shared room, them having grown up in this very space, years ago, it seemed unbelievable that everything was now abandoned, destroyed and unsalvageable.
Jimmy went looking through the drawers and checked the different types of paintings.
It had gotten very cold in the house, colder than it had been outside in the warm summer night making Jimmy get goosebumps.
Suddenly he heard a noise from one the sides of the room.
Standing there was a young girl, face clear but recognizable as the sister in the pictures. Jimmy didn’t understand that this was that very same girl, instead asking her if she was lost.
She slowly crept closer to him, stretching her arm out towards him, as if she wanted to grab him.
Jimmy slowly started walking backwards, back hitting the wall.
The girl coming closer for every second that passed, blood starting to come out of her mouth, neck starting to crack, to break.
He made a run for the door, not quite making it before she could get a grab of him, incredibly fast for her young age.
As soon as she got a grab of his arm, holding it painfully firm, making him cry out in pain, Jimmy's vision went black, falling with a loud thud to the ground.
He woke up soon after, still in the room but with a different look. It was clean, no mold or water damage.
He could smell the newly cut grass through the open window and hear the breeze sweep through the trees around the lonely house.
He got the sun in his eyes right as he woke up, he thought he must have passed out and it had turned to morning already.
It was warm, sun kissing his skin and if he wasn’t worried about what had just happened he would have kept laying there on the soft rug on the floor.
Jimmy quickly got up and looked around the room, not seeing anyone there, not understanding where he was, refusing to believe he was still in the same place.
He went outside into the hallway, seeing the rest of this unknown, now extremely cozy, house.
It looked exactly like the other house, everything was the same except that there were people that actually cared for this house and the things within it.
He went down the stairs, onto the now whole floor. He looked into the kitchen, seeing an older woman by the oven, taking out a tray of something that smelled incredibly tasty. She put the tray down onto the counter and closed the oven again, turning it off.
As the woman set down the tray Jimmy could see that it was a batch of homemade chocolate chip cookies.
His mother wasn’t big on baking so he had never tasted something right out of the oven before.
While the woman turned towards the refrigerator, going to get something out of it, Jimmy snuck past her and headed toward the tray of cookies.
He quickly grabbed a hot cookie, but just as he was about to go back to the hallway, the woman turned back towards him again.
He froze in place.
It was as if she couldn’t see him, like he wasn’t even there.
She stared right past him and continued walking on towards the tray, he was invisible to her.
He quickly turned around and went back into the hallway, wanting to get away from the woman just in case she would notice him.
He went into the living room, seeing two people in the backyard.
He silently went through the slightly open glass door while carefully tasting the warm cookie in his hand.
The young girl was standing there with an older man, cautiously watching him grill different types of meats and vegetables.
Jimmy went up to her, being the only one he recognized. - ‘Hey, can you help me?’
She couldn’t hear him. He was standing right by her and she wasn’t even aware of his presence.
He kept close to the girl, not knowing what else to do.
Suddenly the older man, presumably her father, started yelling at her.
Jimmy had no idea how this had started but her father was screaming and swearing at her. He was telling her how useless and how much of an issue she was.
The young girl had tears streaming down her face, she was looking down onto the ground, not wanting to make eye contact with him.
Suddenly the girl's brother came running out of the house with their mother trying to hold him back, screaming that he should leave them be and go inside the house again.
Jimmy could only watch, not knowing how this would end.
The father started to drag her away from the house, but the young girl got loose from his grip and accidently ran right into her brother, sending him to the ground.
The small boy fell to the ground, hitting his head on the stone path. Suddenly blood spilled out onto the stones, painting them a dark red.
Everyone stopped to watch what had just happened.
Jimmy stood there with his mouth open, not believing what had just happened.
He was staring at a child, bleeding out on the ground and yet he was sure the boy was fine, he had to believe that he was fine.
The mother sat down on the ground with her son, pulling him in her lap. She yelled for her husband to call 911.
They needed to get their son help.
The father didn’t however listen to his wife, he was dragging their daughter to the old oak tree.
He said he had to punish her, that she needed to feel the same pain her brother felt.
He took the rope from the newly put-in tire swing and made a hangmans knot from it. He kept the girl in place while tying the rope back on the tree.
He grabbed his daughter and put the rope around her neck, she was begging and pleading for her father to stop.
She kept apologizing, trying to save her life.
He wouldn’t listen and dropped her, letting the rope catch her.
Jimmy ran away, throwing up at the scene of the young girl being killed, struggling to get free.
He took a minute to collect himself then went back towards the house and the mother. She was crying, yelling at her husband.
The older man had gotten his hands on a pair of pliers, pulling the son's teeth out.
The little boy was now awake, by his father, next to his crying mother whose clothes were now red.
- ‘You want to complain about your teeth hurting? I just made your sister regret her choices and this is how you repay me? It was her fault your teeth are hurting in the first place’ The father yelled at his son.
A small, white pile of teeth was now laying next to them.
Jimmy had tears streaming down his face, he was shaking badly and just wanted to get home.
The father stopped when the boy fell unconscious again. He angrily went inside, his wife staying with their children.
He came out with a big kitchen knife, going straight to his wife. She looked up at him, mascara running down her face.
He told her that he had gotten tired of her never agreeing with the things he did and had gotten enough of it.
The wife didn’t scream when she saw the knife, she didn’t beg. She accepted her faith, too destroyed about her children.
He sliced her throat open, watching his wife struggling to breathe.
He then turned the knife to his own throat, stabbing himself over and over.
Jimmy fell to the ground, having fainted from the experience.
He woke up in the old house again, in the children's room.
The dark, moldy and dull room now appearing back in front of him.
As soon as he understood that he was still in the house he started running.
He saw the young girl standing in the corner, face blurry again, blood running from her mouth and neck cracked with a smile on her face.
Jimmy had tears running down his cheeks, he got to the front door, running out.
He didn’t notice how his friends were no longer in the house or the police tape over the open door.
He ducked under the tape, out the door.
He only noticed things were different when he wasn’t outside, seeing the front door in front of him again.
He was confused, looking around the room and trying again. The same outcome.
The family had appeared in the hall, surrounding him. Blurry faces coming closer, holding their hands out for him.
You could now often see three children playing, one trying to escape for the first couple of months, then coming to peace that he would never leave the house again.

The field outside.

Words: 1139
Date: 1/4/23-1/5/23
>Tw, talk about heavy topics, if not being able to handle please read something else❗️❗️<
>BUT ALSO THIS IS ALL FAKE❗️ idk If I would get taken down if I don't put this but just in case.🗣❗️<
------
As a child I remember the times out in the backyard.
On those summer days back in 2006.
The sunny days I spent in my back yard looking at the field that was full of noting but Bugs and snakes.,
The wind blew making the hay like plants flow, making their own dance as she swayed side to side
Back then I was 7, the world was noting more of bigger people who where my parents and other people who they knew
My siblings. Being older taunted and teased me being smaller and weaker then them
I miss those days even if back then they where noting but childhood fun., I miss playing with my Little poney toys. Pretending they where on a big adventure to save the Queen...
Those days are gone.
Noting but distant memories. Somthing I think of when I'm on those summer days now, wasting my time with whatever shit I had
The days where I was. Could be happy...and not some stupid smoker 23 year old,
I miss the days where I could run inside the house hearing my mother in the kitchen with the music in the background...making lunches of sandwiches with some Chips for a side and some juice to wash it down with...
Those days. Looking back where noting but a normal day...instead of the days I long being a young child...who knew noting but her toys.,
I walk down the dirt road I knew to well from my mother sending me and my brother out to the store. I road in the Red wagon we owned. He use to pull my up and down the hill...
I walk past the woods that we use to make tree forts in. Forts that would fall apart in second of being done with them
I look around at my surroundings making sure I didn't fall in that hole that was never fix. I still can hear my father mutters of "that damn hole" every time we ran over it
I finally hit the good old mail box...the thing we all made together. Our hand prints on it, faded but still there...purple was my color...my sister was yellow and my brother was green...dad was red and mom was blue,
I rubbed my bigger figures past my then baby ones.
I soon walked away from it and walked to the house infornt of it. A old wooden house with yellow colors and white frames on it.
It been years since I came here..
not since mom passed...
The old path of different colored and sized circled stones where was much the same as normal.
The summer night air picked up making the Windchimed ring its bell I remembered well.,
the swinging seat was in the same place it was when I left it. The changes that held it in place where Rusty and almost ready to snap after years of being alone. Pasting the winter to fall, the rain and sun...
Once I got to the door, my feet felt weird missing the welcome rugged that use to be there...silly but I remember my bear feet touching it after I played outside for hours.
Even tho I'm in my shitty sport shoes it still feels off...
I rummaged around in my pocket until I got the key out, I put it close to the looked door and turned it, hearing the unclicking sound and soon the sounds of a squeaky door that use that was always update when my father was around,
I Step into the house....it looked the same. The Big boxy TV with the recliner that my dad use to lay in his work uniform watching whatever was on while he drank his "dad juice" he put it as even when my brother told me it was beer.
I could hear my mother from the kitchen telling me to take my shoes off since "I don't want dirty Floor prints."...
I took my shoes off putting them alone on some plastic flooring we used. It was dusty with thick dark Grey on the black plastic..., I closed the door behind me turning my phone Flash light on missing the cream colors I was met with normally.
I miss the sound of the TV on and the music playing while my mom cleaned.
I walked in more looking at the tints of Old toys in the living room by the bricked fireplace., I could see old dolls. Ponies and half coloring books. Blocks and some stuffed animals that haven't been touched in years,
I looked up the stairs that where only to the left of me. I saw the marks that where left behind the photos that year nailed their for years. Baby to middle school photos...small ones of holidays where gone and in some boxes I wish I had found before I did this.
Remembering the times me and my siblings would sit and play on the also Carpeted Stairs. Our cheeks or arms getting imprints from it once we got bored.
I walked more into the kitchen. The Fridge was empty but the Magnets and a few photos of my parents. Young and in love, a few colored in lion king pictures from our coloring books. Some colors where perfect and others where just scribbles called art.
I can remember being a "little helper" in the kitchen when it came to baking. Licking the frosting or eating the chocolate chips that where left over from making cookies...,
I remember my mother talking to me but what those conversations where of I can't remember. Just being more onto the Sugar my little body craved so much back then.
The house smell was noting but dirt and Rusty stuff and possibly mold.
I wish I listened to my mother more.
I look out of the small window that was above the sink, a window my mom would yell out to use for. Either for use getting to close to the now wilted down into the Soil by now. Or it was dinner time.
I look out to see the field I use to fear. Bugs and snakes where somthing that younger me couldn't handle well, but tonight
Was different...
And this leads me to now. A sad 23 year old who is writing on the counter that was full of dust as well, this doubting people would see it or care for it..but I need somewhere to write down my thoughts. But this is getting to long isn't it...
But if someone does find this...then im already dead.
I'm sorry.
I'm in the fields I feared at one point. If you want to call the cops to tell them their a rotting cropes outside 8 feet away from where your standing possibly.
I wasn't murdered...
I just missed my family...
I just wanted to meet them again...
------
Uhm, so i hope you enjoyed this shorter story then my normal ones but I just felt sad about getting older and just made a quick story.

The Empress Pt.VI
I hope you all have a lovely day🖤🖤
Warnings: light hint to sexual innuendo, Swearing
Tumblr media
Its been about a couple of months now since we found Tommy. The palace was up in a baby craze due to the new little prince they inherited. Once we got past the first couple week's of tommy living with us, we saw his true nature. He was a nice and sweet kid, don't get me wrong. But oh, he was also a trouble maker.
Tommy would often bounce between hanging around Wilbur, Techno, Phil and even you. When you would be working at the forge Tommy would sometimes just slip in unannounced and make himself comfortable on a spare stack of metal. You'd only really notice him when he would ask you what something was, or what it did.
That was the new update as well. After returning Techno had requested that you practice making earrings. Saying that he wanted to see how dainty you could work. Of course you didn't mind, back at your village you would often make rings, pendants, and sometimes earrings for those who asked. So making him a earring was no fuss at all.
Techno did start to wonder around to the forge often. usually seeing what you were making or what you were in the process of. Sometimes he would even make off hand comments to make you laugh. Your favorite visit’s from him were always when he would bring tommy. The two would walk in, Tommy holding Techno’s finger as his hand was a little too big for the young boy to fully grasp.
Since you were a familiar face around the palace Techno had stopped wearing his Skull. Instead replacing it with his all to familiar golden reading glasses. You still stood by the ideal that you preferred him with no skull. Since he was, to you, very handsome. You did find out later that the skull he wore was for outsiders. He didn't feel the need to show his face to those who wouldn't be present very long in the empire. Choosing instead to leave them with the impression that he was a monster of a man, rather than a young prince with a heart of gold. When you say he had a heart of gold, you meant it.
Recently techno has really opened up around you, becoming more relaxed in your presence. Phil had mentioned that it would only be a matter of time before he did, and sure enough he was right. If you didn't have anything to do with the forge that day you would sometimes read within his office well he worked. He never made tones of disagreement, or ask that you leave, instead he would just watch you sit before offering a ‘Hello’. It had become something that you often looked forward too.
You and Wil were still thick as thieves. Techno would rag on Wil about how you two could sit and talk for hours, before declaring that you were bored with each other. Only for you two to part then reconcile in the library a hour later. Techno couldn't understand it, but in the end just accepted it for what it was.
Tumblr media
You had just finished cleaning up the forge for the night when you herd some light pitter patter of feet. Tommy. You slowly turned to face him. He was in his night wear, obviously he had just gotten out of bed. he looked distraught however. “What’s up bud?” you asked, putting the tongs and the spare metal away. He slightly shifted in his spot, his little teddy bear behind him.
“I had a nightmare” he quietly mumbled. your eyes softened. Ever since you three found him he would have a recurring nightmare about ‘loosing my new family’ as tommy put it. Usually when he had this dream he would seek Techno, or you out for his comfort. Since you two were mostly together when he would look.
“Want me to read to you?” you asked, kneeling down to his level. His bright blue eyes dancing about. He gave a little nod. he put his arms out for you to carry him. you shyly smiled at him.
“buddy I'm a bit dirty...” You said softly, unsure if he was ok with getting dirty right before bed. He only shook his head and said ‘I don't mind’ as a response. So you gently took him into your arms as you stood. He didn't hesitate to curl into your neck. you glanced back at the room that held the forge, you mentally shrugged figuring the rest could wait until tomorrow. With Tommy in your arms you wondered out, heading for his room. On the way there Techno crossed path’s with you.
“Oh (y/n)” he said as he looked from you to tommy. he furrowed his brows, asking what was wrong without physically saying it. You mouthed out that it was a nightmare, Techno slowly nodded understanding. He rested is hand on tommy’s head giving a reassuring rub to it. “Not havin’ such a good night big man?” he asked gently. Tommy turned his head to look at Techno, slowly shaking his head. Techno pondered a moment as he watched tommy. slowly he gained a idea. “You wanna hear somthin’ cool?” he said with a small smile. tommy nodded in response, gripping to your shirt.
“Can (y/n) come?” Tommy asked quietly, watching Techno's kind eyes. Techno patted Tommy’s head before he nodded.
“Yeah I mean, I guess she can come. Only if you deem her cool enough that is” Techno mused, glancing to your eyes. you raised a brow in question, watching Techno bite back a playful smile. Tommy nodded again. “You think she’s cool enough?” Techno asked Tommy, having him confirm his nod. “Yeah I think she’s cool enough too” He said, ruffling your hair before he walked off. queuing you to fallow him. You smiled and fixed your hair before fallowing him. Instead of leading you towards Tommy’s room, he lead you two to the Library. “Go sit on the couch over there” Techno said, pointing to the sofa closest to the fire. You nodded and wondered over, curious of what Techno had planned.
when you sat, you adjusted tommy so he sat in your lap. he pulled his bear close to his chest, hugging it tightly well the two of you waited for Techno. Luckily he didn't take long. When he returned, he had a Violin in hand. He was casually tuning it well he walked. You tiled your head curiously at him. “I didn't know you played” you said to him. He sent a bemused smile to you. taking a relaxed stance.
“Trust me Princess... There's a lot you don't know about me” He waisted no time on starting a soft tune. Well Tommy eased into you, slowly becoming entranced with the peaceful notes, you became more interested in how he swayed to the light swing of his arms. His hands ever so delate as he held the bow, dancing it along the strings. working the instrument to cry out a melody ever so sweet. His face was that of concentration, focused on finding the proper notes to lull his younger sibling to sleep. This was just another reason why you found Technoblade so interesting. He could talk politics and war strategies so easily, sounding like a primed veteran well past his years. But then he could retire to the library and look like a young boy falling in love with the craft he just found.
Well Techno played away, his eyes fell to you. Tommy had fallen asleep in your arms, finding security within them. His teddy bear tightly locked within his own arms. When he glanced up to you he almost had the breath knocked from his lungs. You sat so beautifully. Your eyes were ever so soft well watching him. You looked at him like he was the most important thing you had ever seen. Your face held a little bit of dirt, and ash from the hard work you did for the day, but he didn't mind. He actually preferred it. Too many times had the Court tried to set him up with a prim, and proper woman. One that was elegant, clean, pure, dainty. But He didn't want that. He wanted strong, hands calloused, smudged makeup, sweat dripping, imperfect, but yet somehow at the same time, perfect. He wanted flaw. He wasn't perfect, he had scars, he wasn't the most handsome boy, he was often classified as too bulky, and too tall. He also couldn't be held back with someone who wanted him, to pamper and please. He wanted someone who would treat him as a equal, who praised his knowledge on war instead of shunning it. Someone who embraced the flaws of the world, and turned them into works of art. His eyes wondered back over you, you had moved your head down to check on tommy. Your fingers delicately tracing over Tommy's cheek. Brushing the curls from his face.
You looked back up to techno as he came to a stop. “That was beautiful... Why didn't you tell me you played?” you asked softly. Being mindful of the toddler asleep in your arms. Techno slowly lowered the Violin to the couch.
“I didn't think it was that important to bring up” He said, returning the soft tone. Well he sat the instrument down his eyes met yours. You couldn't help but feel drawn to his eyes, they looked like beautiful glass, the fire’s reflection dancing within, making his eyes dance lively. “If you would like to talk more we should take him to bed first” he said, his eyes flickering to Tommy. You nodded slowly.
   “Right, of course.”
Tumblr media
After Techno and you had put Tommy to bed it was well into the night. Most of the servants and palace guards had retired to their beds, making way for the changing of the guards. Techno and you weren't really feeling the effects of sleep yet. Rather the two of you wanted to stay within each others company longer. Techno had walked you you to the garden, having snatched two blankets from the library before wondering out into the cold. Techno, having no where to be ended up taking his hair out from his braid. replacing it with a lower pony tail, giving his hair a moment of freedom from it’s confinement.
The garden was beautiful. They couldn't grow flowers of course, but there were elegant sculptures that replaced them. in the middle of the whole garden was a artesian well fountain. although long frozen when the two of you passed by you could hear the water running within the ice. It was peaceful to walk with Techno. It was rare when the two of you would make late night walks. Usually you would take them during the day, or after dinner. But nothing past 10 o’clock mostly.
“So what’s something else I should know about you?” You inquired to him. He smiled to himself before turning to you.
“Are you really going to start school yard type questions with me?” He teased. You smiled and lightly laughed. He was smiling at you, admiring how you looked when you laughed.
“Yeah, yeah I guess I am. You going to answer them?” You couldn't help but tease back. He chuckled and hummed.
   “Mmn. Maybe” he said bemused.
“What’s your favorite color?” You asked, now aiming for the most basic questions just to make him laugh in turn. He leaned onto the railing that over looked the kingdom, pondering a moment.
“Red’s a nice color, Or Plum Purple” He said looking at you. Taking a moment to ask you a question in turn. “Besides the forge what do you like to do?” You sat and thought a moment.
“I like to read, Action and Romance are a lot of fun” you mused, earning a laugh from him.
“Romance eh? Waiting for someone to sweep you off your feet? Lamee” he said jokingly. You laughed and took a swat at his chest.
“Oh hush up, I bet you’d like someone to sweep you off your feet Techno” You said, your eyes scanning the horizon. He sat and thought on your words a moment.
“Eh not particularly. Only lame nerds think of that” He said, turning, heading back for the garden door’s. you scoffed and laughed a bit.
“Jerk” you said between laughs. You were going to fallow, but then you had a wicked idea. You scooped up some snow in your hand and bit your lip trying to muffle your laugh. once you had a decent snowball you threw it at him. Bullseye. You had nailed him in the back of the head. He went still, You were a giggling mess now.
“Oh, your in for it now Princess” He said, smirking has he turned. Running after you, his blanket long discarded as he ran to grab you. You squealed out laughing, running from him, discarding your blanket too. You didn't get far before he hooked his arm around your torso, pulling you into his chest well you flapped about like a fish. “Your gonna’ be pullin’ snow out of your shirt for a week when I'm done with ya’!” he said Laughing. Picking snow up before putting it on your head. Some of it even went down your shirt. You flopped about, laughing the whole time until he dropped you into the snow bank. He laughed at you and how you were practically buried within the snow. This only fueled your fire. you threw two more snowball’s the first one missed, but the second one he grabbed out of mid air. You tried to free yourself from the snow bank before he came over to you, but it was no use. he climbed into the bank and shoved the snow down the back of your shirt. But this time you caught him off guard. You grabbed his arm and pulled. setting him off balance so he fell into the snow. Now it was your turn to laugh. tossing more snow onto him. It didn't take him long to recover of course, he simply rolled and grabbed your arms. Pinning them down to the snow. His body hovered over yours. You could feel the warmth radiating from his body. His face was that of pure joy, the long stoic look gone. he was at his happiest with you right now. He looked down at you, smiles adorning both of your faces. You two were happy. Happy with the moment, you just wanted it to last as long as it could. Well you two looked into each other’s eyes everything else lost meaning.
Without you two realizing, Phil watched above from one of the windows. He was smiling fondly at the little snowball war you just had. whether Techno had realized it yet or not, Phil did. Techno cared for you. Phil saw how he looked at you. During dinners, Lunches, casual talks, or even when the two of you hung out together. Techno looked at you with pure love and adoration. Phil knew if anyone was capable of wining Techno’s love it was going to be you. You were a hard worker, You cared for Techno’s brothers, got along well with all the servants, were mindful and respective of Techno's space, you also had enough spunk to rise up and toss back the teasing he threw. Phil knew this was the beginning of a love story.
Tumblr media
After your snowball fight with techno the two of you did end up going back inside rather quickly. Well Techno may have not been cold, you were definitely cold after all that. You could feel the snow melting on your back, the drops of water running down your skin. But that didn't stop Techno from walking beside you. The two of you walked side by side, your arms around each other to share the warmth. The lingering giggles were etched onto your faces in wide smiles.
“I didn't hurt you at all, right?” Techno asked, double checking incase he was too rough. You shook your head smiling. Drawing your side of the blanket- that was wrapped around you both- closer to preserve the upcoming heat.
“Nah, I coulda’ have taken ya’ if you had stayed above me more” Techno laughed fondly. Amused with your spurt of spunk.
“Oh really now? You think you could take me?” This was now your turn to giggle. purposefully running into his side, shoving him lightly.
“Mmn.. I think I could have found a way” You said looking up towards your room. You had offered to walk techno to his room, but he declined. He said he would feel better if ‘The lady was at her room safely’. You didn't mind, you figured next time you would walk him to his room in turn to make it even, maybe fire back with ‘I must make sure the young prince is safe’.
He chuckled bemused. “If you really have that much spunk maybe I should teach you sword play, or maybe something more military related. you tilted your head up to him curiously.
“You would teach me something?” You asked, semi surprised, but also heart warmed that he would take time aside for you.
“Of course, Princess. I’ll teach you anything you want” He looked down to you as he spoke. He was smiling gently. His tone was fond as he addressed you. “Now don't think I’ll go easy on you though”
“Oh, I didn't think you would” You said, resting your hand on the door handle, opening it. “Would you wanna come in and warm up a bit?” You inquired, looking up to him. He went a faint pink before biting back a shit eating grin.
“Princess... Young men shouldn't be within young ladies chambers during such late hours... Unless, your trying to bed me?” He leaned on your door way. Biting back the largest grin. “Are you trying to bed me, Princess? I knew you had gotten some spunk but I never thought-” You laughed as he teased, going a bit red. trying to wave it off.
“No- No, you know what I mean-” He laughed and cut you off.
“Oh no, I know exactly what you mean” You smiled leaning on your door, looking up at him.
“Are you done?” You asked giggling. He hummed, his face towards yours as he shifted a little closer.
“Maybe” He said amused. “Go get some sleep, and warm up. I'm going to teach you sword play tomorrow” Your eyes lit up. Taking in a small gasp of excitement.
“Are you really?” You asked almost unsure that he was still teasing.
“I mean, Only if that interests you...” He said, his eyes lingering yours. You nodded fast and hugged him without much thought. Techno couldn't help the blood that ran to his face. He lightly cleared his throat as he rested his arms on you. A bit hesitant at first, but he slowly relaxed into your hold. Now understanding why Tommy liked to hug you a lot.
“Thank you...” You mumbled into his chest.
Tumblr media
You swore if techno knocked you off your feet one more time you were going to find a way to shove his pretty head in the snow.
Techno was a monster- in the sense of strength. You thought when fighting him, it would be a mutual teaching before he actually started going ham on you. But no, he literary just started striking with no hesitation. Only when he had your swords in a lock did you voice your lag.
"Tech, please can we ease up?" You pleadded. He only watched you briefly. His inner General having come out a while ago.
"Your strong. You can take it" he said sharply. Earning a whine from you. You weren't strong. You didn't do this on a daily. You only made the swords. But he was pushing you. Pushing your strength, and your nerves for one.
"Techno I'm not strong, I- I've never done this-" he grabbed your sword and threw it away from you. Putting his own away. He grabbed your arm and pulled it to him. Pushing your sleeves up.
"Flex your arm." He commanded. You hesitated, looking up at him. "Don't look at me like that. I said flex your arm" you slowly did as he said. Drawing your fist, and flexing your arm. He grabbed your bicep and squeezed a bit. "Notice how hard it is?" You nodded slowly. A slight sting from where he squeezed. "That's pure muscle. You are stronger than you realize. If you convince yourself that you are weak or that you cannot do this, then that's what will become of you" he paused his eyes flashing to yours. "I understand that you are no warrior, but you have strength. As soon as you stop telling yourself that you are weak, you will make progress." He pulled your sleeve down, fixing it for you. "Rome wasn't built over night, Princess. It took time, planning, care, and had to show promise. When I look at you, I see great promise."
When he released your arm you walked over to pick your sword up. Techno readying his stance again. However, before you could break into another spar Phil had wondered out.
"Ay' Techno you have a letter on your desk. You may want to read it" Phil said with a bit of concern. Techno dropped his stance his brow furrowing. He gave a 'Heh?' In confusion. He glanced to you and to Phil.
“Can it wait a bit? I'm in the middle of teaching” Phil shook his head slowly. Techno paused as he thought a bit. "If I go, could you teach (y/n) a bit more? She feel's I'm too strong for her." He mused. His military side slowly fading away for his more domestic side.
"I suppose so." Phil said with a gentle smile. Techno gathered his things and ruffled your hair before leaving. Phil turned his attention towards you. "What has he showed you?" Phil inquired, walking over to you.
"Nothing besides showing me the ground.. seriously my back hurts.." you whined. Phil chuckled lightly at you.
"I should have known. Here I'll teach you some basic's" Before long Phil had you doing simple moves and stances. Things he felt would be easy for you to ace. After a while you got a bit curious.
"Why does techno think I can pick this up so easy? He fights so hard" You questioned. Looking over to Phil. He hummed a moment well he pondered.
"I uh, think that he just wants you to be able to defend yourself. He knows your strong, and besides. He thinks pretty highly of you, y'know'" you went a bit wide eyed. Techno thinks highly of you?
You looked to Phil with a bit of shock on your face. "He does?" He nodded, Smiling gently. Phil gently took the sword from your hands and hung it on the wall with the others.
Since you within the training hall, there was a plethora of weapons and armor of all kinds. The room was large, made for incasing many people. But the detail never faltered. The floor was of stone, pillars lining the outside to support a second floor. The ceiling was framed with gold, dark oak and a smooth white to open the room up more. It was a good place to spar and just ramble off thoughts.
"Oh, of course. He's said it multiple times to me. That's why he was fine with you coming with us to the mansion. Don't think that he hasn't been paying attention to you on the daily." Phil said looking up to you.
"He watches me?" You furrowed your brow slightly. Phil saw and continued.
"Not in the creepy way. He just takes notes of things you do, say you like, ect. He knows your kind with tommy, that you are very organized with your work. Your very detail oriented. He's become quite smitten with you" Phil chuckled. Finding it all amusing.
You were taken aback by this. You thought you two had a good friendship, but it looks like he's paid a lot of attention to you after all. It started to dawn on you. 'I don't really know much about him' you thought to yourself. Sure you knew his mom passed, his favorite color. But you never really dove into his personal life much beyond that. Maybe it was time you got to know him more. "If I wanted to know more about him... could I ask him?" You asked, looking up at Phil. He patted your head and started walking with you towards the hall.
"Of course. Something tells me he wouldn't turn you away." Phil said, biting a smile back. He remembered you two last night playing within the snow. He knew Techno would never turn you away, he was in love with you, even if techno wasn't aware of it.
Tumblr media
After dinner you wondered towards Techno's office. You wanted to talk to him, get to know him better. You know he was powerful and kind, but you wanted to know more. What was his ambitions? His hopes, fears. You just wanted more.
When you walked up to the doors you carefully knocked, hearing talking within. When you herd the 'come in' you pushed the doors open. Techno was sat in his chair per usual, he had his reading glasses on with papers on his desk. When you entered he complied them together neatly. Setting them aside for later. However there was also a rather tall woman. she was beautiful, dripping with total control. Her hand was rested on her sword. When she turned to face you. You saw Her face, It was hard but something told you their was more too her. Her skin looked like it was kissed by the sun himself. She looked like she wasn't from here, but the way she dressed herself in armor told you elsewise.
"Hello (y/n)" techno said. The woman glanced to Techno and back to you. She offered a kind smile. "This is General Hawthorne, she's my leading General of the Empires army. I don't believe you two have met before" He said formally. Not having the tone he normally used with you.
She offered her hand. "Its nice to finally meet you (y/n). His Imperial Majesty said we would have a new Blacksmith. But I never expected someone as young as you" Her smile was warm. When you took her hand to shake it you were shocked with the grip she had. Under her glove you could feel some rings digging into your hand. "Don't worry about addressing me as Hawthorne. Seraphina is fine, or Sarah" you nodded smiling to return hers. Wanting her to drop your hand, her grip a tad to much.
"Its a pleasure to meet you, too" you said looking up to her. She turned back to Techno, taking a scroll from his desk.
"I'll see you there then sire" Sarah said, smiling before she walked out. You watched her go, your eyes lingering on the door as you thought. Turning back to Techno.
Techno took his reading glasses off and set them aside on his desk. Leaning back in his chair. When he looked up at you his eyes softened, his tone also becoming casual. "What do you think about weddings?".

Since we got a Todoroki having a little sister what about Dabi ?
I’m going to make this as fluff as I can because reading chapter 300 broke my hEart
Warnings: some spoilers? Angstish also the reader is young so you don’t know what happened in the Todoroki household.
Tumblr media
Him being the older sibling he’s the first one to hold you at the hospital. Tells himself that he’s going to be the best big brother to you and will protect you with any means necessary. Whenever he isn’t with Fuyumi and Natsuo he’s with you, usually you’ll be sleeping though since you’re still a baby.
You tend to make his days better he has a lot of emotions he’s holding back, but one giggle from you and he suddenly forgets what he feels (for a while at least) he gets upset that Enji doesn’t show you any affection at all (he’s not surprised, but he hates it) he tries giving you the attention you deserve since Enji doesn’t.
When you start learning how to walk he’ll take you to the park (with Fuyumi and Natsuo tagging along) you have your cute lil squeaky shoes with a fluffy sweater (when you pull the hood up little bear ears show from the top) if you want to go down the slides you’ll have to sit on their laps (because I’ve seen videos on what happens when kids go down the slide ALONE💀) because they KNOW if you get hurt or even a little scratched their mom is going to give them an earful on having to be careful.
Whenever it’s your bedtime he’ll read stories to you (which makes you fall asleep fast) it becomes a routine he does. Usually he’ll pick a story or you’ll pick which one you want him to read, once he knows your fully asleep he’ll leave the room.
It broke him to leave you alone when he faked his own death, he was hesitant to do it, but he couldn’t back down he had a plan and he intended to complete it in the near future. After that he didn’t come to check up on you he could only hope that Fuyumi or Natsuo filled in his role.
Since you were still a kid and didn’t understand much about death yet you’d always ask Fuyumi or Natsuo where Touya was, but they always gave you a sad pitiful look before trying to distract you with something else. Natsuo was always busy with college so Fuyumi mostly had to take care of you after Rei got hospitalized.
Todoroki spent somewhat time with you, but he ended up training most the time and at this point you were 7 years old already. You finally understood what death meant and what happened to Touya whenever you got home from school you’d grab a book from your shelf and read outside near Touya’s shrine. You always believed that Touya’s spirit was with you even if he was gone.
(Endeavor’s arc I guess)
Todoroki was surprised that Enji was starting to spend more time with you (he was sorta.. nervous with him around you so he made sure to keep an eye out) he tried being more at home and eating dinner together. Fuyumi would always pick you up after school, but not anymore it was endeavor who was picking you up now. (Everyone was intimidated seeing Endeavor hold your small hand in his as you both walked to the car)
Shoto finally brought you to see Rei you haven’t seen her since she got hospitalized. So when he opened the door and Rei saw you she smiled and tried not to cry you grew up so much “mom!” You shouted running into her arms she kissed the top of your head while holding you in her arms. (Shoto takes a picture and sends it to Fuyumi and Natsuo and yes Fuyumi started crying her eyes out)
One time you got sick and went to Endeavor’s hero agency (since Fuyumi couldn’t take a day off from teaching) and lord behold you met Hawks. You were kind of intimidated by him his wings made him seem more bigger. He was going to say hi to you, but you quickly hid behind Enji (which Enji laughed while Hawks pouted about it) since Hawks spent so much time around Enji though you started to trust him.
NOW let’s talk about when Midoriya and Bakugo came over Todoroki’s house to have dinner. They didn’t even know Todoroki had a younger sibling so when you opened the door to them they both stood there SHOCKED. “Nii-San!” You said happily to Shoto “I’m home Y/N is Fuyumi making dinner?” You nodded before going back inside. “Todoroki you didn’t tell us you had a younger sibling.” Midoriya said as he started taking off his shoes. “Sorry, nobody ever mentioned anything so I didn’t. That’s Y/N though she’s only 7 so Bakugo don’t say any cuss words.”
You didn’t really understand why dinner was so awkward Natsuo was upset at Enji, but half of the things he was saying you didn’t completely understand (since no one mentioned what happened in the household) you saw Natsuo get up angrily and leaves. You didn’t leave the table until dinner was over Enji took the Shoto, Bakugo and Midoriya back to school and you decided to go find Natsuo.
He looked upset not that he was crying, but you could tell he was angry. “Nii-San are you mad at dad?” Natsuo quickly snapped his direction up at you his eyes softening he took off his sweater and wrapped it around you “it’s cold Y/N you shouldn’t be out here.” “You’re alone out here, but are you mad at dad?” Natsuo didn’t know what to say. The three of them made a promise to never tell you what happened the last thing they wanted to do was hurt you with the past “we just.. had a little disagreement Y/N it’s okay.”
You gently wrap your arms around Natsuo “if you need to cry you can nii-san whenever I would miss Touya I would do the same.” Sigh.. Natsuo really appreciated that even if you didn’t understand the full context of the argument. “Let’s go inside Y/N it’s cold and you’ll end up getting a fever again-“ suddenly he heard something he quickly pushed you behind him protectively. It was too dark outside he couldn’t see where the noise was coming from! “Y/N!” that’s when he finally saw what was coming he shoved you aside making the Nomu grab him “Natsuo!” You shouted as you fell backwards onto your butt the thing took off flying with him.
Fuyumi quickly rushed outside when she heard you scream “Y/N!” “Natsuo! That thing took Natsuo!” You cried into her shoulder. When Natsuo was recused the first thing you did was jump into his arms while crying “Y/N I’m fine see? Dad.. saved me on time it’s okay.”
You get to met Eri at first you both are shy she hides behind Mirio and you hide behind Shoto. Slowly you both start getting used to each other to the point where you two were running around the school festival excitedly.
So when does Dabi finally see you again? You went to the park alone. At first Enji and Fuyumi were kind of iffy about you being alone, but you kept repeating how you were old enough to go alone (hAhA of course Enji is going to check up on you a couple of times though) the park isn’t completely vacant, but your a bit more alone since some of the kids were playing on the playground while you were on the swinging.
As you were swinging back and fourth you started to remember when Touya would bring you to the park and play with you until sundown. He’d carry you on his back and asked what was your favorite part of the playground. The swings were you favorite Touya would push you (of course though not too high) you stopped swinging as you continued to remember the things you’d do with Touya at the park. Even Fuyumi and Natsuo would join in playing together so much time has passed and now usually everyone was busy.
Natsuo was still busy with school, Fuyumi was a teacher and didn’t have time to play all the time, Shoto was staying at U.A, and Enji was often at the hero’s agency.. you couldn’t remember the last time someone read you a story. You sniffle lightly as you rubbed your eyes “what are you so upset about?” You heard a voice next to you say you quickly looked up and saw a young man with raven black hair and a piercings on his face “I’m not upset.” The man chuckled before sitting down next to the swing beside you “then why did I hear you sniffle?”
You sighed “I miss my older brother his name was Touya.” Dabi’s hand clenched a bit “I love my other siblings! They try to make time for me, but Touya was always there he always brought me to the park or just read me stories at times! He passed away, but I always tell myself maybe that’s he’s still here with us as a spirit.” Dabi wanted to comfort you, but there’s a reason why he had to completely cut off connections with his family he couldn’t ruin his plan. “I’m sorry that you feel that way, but better times are coming soon.” He said getting up you looked at him questionably “how do you know?” “I know Y/N.”

Headcanons about each of the lords (+the Duke if you're writing about him) if they ever happen to adopt a little child?
THANK YOU ANON MY THE UNIVERSE BLESS YOU WITH PILLOWS THAT ARE COLD ON BOTH SIDES
okay okay okay okay this has definitely been on my mind so lets get into the thick of it
Alcina Dimitrescu
(im starting off with alcina for obvious reasons)
Alcina would be on the way to the church with the slimy moron, the demented doll, that disgusting manthing and Mother Miranda
She'd kiss her daughters goodbye and head off through the snow, quietly muttering about how cold her ankles were
while Moreau is literally up to his chin in snow but its fine
as she gets closer to the church she keeps hearing this. thing. it sounded familiar but she couldn't exactly put her finger on it.
she strays from the path to find it because it was just so familiar
as she weaves her way through the snow, her dress gets caught on something. she leans down to get her dress unstuck when she realises its this tiny basket.
like seriously. just a little woven basket in the middle of the snow. and it doesn't look like its been there for that long- there's hardly any snow on it
when she tugs at her skirts again, the basket makes the same noise she's been hearing
she stands back up to her full height, staring down at the basket with narrowed eyes
this cannot be a good idea, can it? opening a strange basket in the woods after being lured out here. it's probably some village manthing's trap.
she's about to step away when she hears the sound again- much more intense and much more clear
Alcina leans down and opens the lid of the basket
inside is this tiny thing- all soft and warm in a padding of blankets
a baby
she stands and looks around
who on earth would be so moronic as to leave their baby in the snow? it's much too cold for a baby to survive-
oh
she sighs, getting onto her knees to pull the baby from the blanketed basket
the meeting will have to wait. it's too cold even in the church for this tiny thing.
when she finally makes it back home, she's greeted by her daughters in a swarm of buzzing flies.
as they manifest in their true forms, they're asking what- or who, rather- their mother brought for dinner
Alcina smiles and shakes her head, unwrapping the small bundle clinging to her breast
"this... is your new sibling" she announces, "they'll be staying with us from now on."
and the sisters are ecstatic. a new sibling!
Daniela especially is happy that she is no longer the youngest. she usually is the one to parade around the castle with her sibling on her shoulders, showing them the coolest hiding spots for hide-n-seek and the windows with the best views
Bela is incredibly protective. like. incredibly.
she smelt blood from across the castle and when she found her little sibling sniffling about a skinned knee earned from a game of tag with Angie, she lost her shit and almost broke the damned thing with her sickle
And Cassandra has been caught reading bedtime stories by nightlight multiple times. she tries to play it off but everyone knows that she loves- absolutely adores- her newest sibling
we all know Alcina is such a wonderful mother to the girls so adding another baby to the mix was a guaranteed success
she's so doting and careful (a little overprotective at times but she means well) as she is with her girls
as the child grows into a teen, she panics a bit because "my beautiful baby is growing into such a beautiful, talented adult" so expect a lot of late night visits when she just sits on the edge of her bed and just admires how much you've grown
Salvatore Moreau:
now this one is an easy one too if i'm 100% honest
think Moses type beat
(if you don't know, Moses was found in the riverbank in a little basket)
apparently i really like baskets
anyways
Moreau was so out of his element when he found this tiny, screaming, writhing piece of soft flesh
the first few weeks were rough
but he eventually got the hang of it (with Alcina's help of course)
he would take his child fishing every now and then- just the two of them out on a boat for a few hours
the kid would literally swim more than walk and that little fact would make Moreau so freakin proud
also this kid would be so well-versed in movie and film history it's stupid
like expect this little 4 or 5 year old babbling not about toys or snow or how many sticks they found but instead about the copyright war over the film Nosferatu and the destruction of its copies
Moreau, as the child gets older (like 11 or 12) would have just a tad of trouble trying to keep the kid out of the village
he'd wake up one day and go out onto the lake, expecting his child to be swinging their legs off the dock and watching the sun rise over the water
and when he finds that they were not, in fact, swinging their legs off the dock and watching the sun rise over the water, he p a n i c s
i mean, full blown red alert
all of the lords are summoned to help Moreau look for his missing kid, the lycans are given an article of clothing to help find the scent, Mother Miranda goes to search the village herself- the whole shebang
and when the kid is found playing with the village children, Moreau bursts into tears
needless to say, the kid isn't allowed to go to the village anymore
until they're fifty (Moreau's words, of course)
but the kid sneaks off more and more as they get older, using Alcina or Donna or Karl as an excuse to be away
and Moreau knows but he never says a word
seeing his child happy and free with the kids their age makes him happy, even if he is a tad, a tad, a tad bit nervous
Donna Beneviento:
when Donna found this child huddled up against the base of the stairs leading up to her front door, she at first thought it was a doll of hers
it was only when she actually walked outside that she realised it was this shaking, shriveled child in tattered clothes
she spent a good five minutes just staring, wondering how on earth she's supposed to react
that's when Angie jumped in and pulled at her skirt, telling her to "let the kid inside, already!"
Donna went immediately to work on some clothes- why on earth were they wearing such ragged things?! it's freezing outside!- while Angie entertained in the parlour
honestly, it didn't go well
the kid was a little bit unsettled by the floating doll that moved and spoke on its own FOR GOOD REASON
and when Donna walked back in with her measurement tape and some fabric, the kid backed themselves into a corner of the room with their gangly legs tucked into their chest
Angie sighs from the opposite side of the room, letting her little feet fidget as she gestures to the kid. "they're no fun" she pouts, "wouldn't even let me know their name"
Donna puts her materials down slowly and lifts her veil back before attempting a small smile
it takes a while but upon the offer of food, the kid finally lets Donna make them some clothes while Angie makes conversation
she works in silence, only offering small awkward smiles
Angie finally brings up the topic of where their parents are when the kid's clothes are done
when the child goes silent, Donna nods in understanding before hurrying off to make a room for them
as Angie helped tug the blankets up to the child's ears, they promised they'd be gone in the morning
Angie was the one to tell them off.
"You'll stay as long as you need, you silly goose!"
and the child did
Donna would let them tag along for meetings so long as they promised to keep quiet and help keep Angie out of trouble
most of the time, it didn't work and they both would end up in trouble but Donna let them come nonetheless
and when the other Lords question where on earth this little kid came from- all dressed in black fabric that matched Donna's dress, she just shook her head and let Angie chase them off verbally
she'd spend literal HOURS locked in that workshop making new little friends for her child and when they were old enough, she'd let them into the workshop
and when they were even older, she'd walk them through making their very first doll on their own
she'd just watch with pride as they carefully painted the freckles with a shaky hand while Angie danced around their ankles singing of how excited she was to have another friend
The Duke:
he would be setting up shop near the base of the Dimitrescu castle when he catches a kid trying to steal some his wares
he wouldn't be terribly upset, more concerned
it wasn't something shiny or expensive that they were trying to steal
it was some of the steaming-hot food he had left to cool in the wintry air
he confronted the child gently and with a warm smile
"That's cordon bleu," he says, gesturing to the steaming plate. "I can make you some if you'd like"
and as the child eats, the Duke continues tidying up his shop for any future customers
the child, through a mouthful of food, points to different items and asks their purpose, their price, their possible enhancements
the Duke answers each question with patience, happy for the company
but he doesn't just let the questions go one-way
"How about a trade?" he asks as the child asks about the strange-looking bottle of green liquid. "An answer for an answer."
the child agrees and the Duke starts to peel back layers of why the child was here looking for food
they had been orphaned by the last lycan attack, only barely making it out by fleeing into the woods
they tried to forage off of berry bushes and successfully managed to kill a pig- only for the blood to attract lycans before they could properly eat it
the Duke nods and continues busying himself with his shop, feeding the horse that pulls the wagon
the thought had hit him when he watched the child petting his horse
that horse hated everyone. including him at times.
maybe...
when he offered to take the child in, the kid nearly burst into tears and thanked him repeatedly, swearing to earn their keep
and they did, seven times over
what started off as a purely business venture morphed into something more as time went on
when the child would come back from selling smaller household items like gasoline and the occasional package of bullets, the Duke would have them climb onto the roof of the wagon and watch the sun set together with a plate of food
speaking of which, like Moreau, the Duke would raise the most cultured child
this kid would know how to prepare and identify different dishes and their ingredients just by looking at them or smelling them
and their palate would be far more sophisticated than most adults
the Duke, as the child gets older, would eventually allow them to choose destinations to set up shop- even outside of the village
wherever his child wants, the shop would go
it allows them to see the world and its earthly wares together- something the Duke had lacked in his life before the child was brought into the picture
Karl Heisenberg:
listen to me very very carefully
this man would be the most chaotic father ever to walk this earthly realm
when he finds this kid in the elevator of his factory, he's kinda standing there like 🧍 "what the hell-"
and when the kid starts spamming the button while maintaining eye contact, he kinda snaps out of it and starts chasing after them as they drop down to a different floor
it goes on for a solid twenty minutes before he finally managed to track them down in the corner of his office
and when i say this man is confused, i freaking mean it
i mean
why the HELL would some random kid be in his factory? don't they like... play with ponies or something at this age?
to be fair, this man literally has never been allowed a childhood so
obviously he starts scolding the kid ("what the hell are you doin' in here? it's dangerous and there's some really freaky shit here, kid"), dragging them to a nearby sink because "holy shit kid, you're filthy"
the kid is silent essentially the whole time, just kinda staring into his eyes
and of course Karl's gonna be like "...the fuck're you doin'?"
the kid's face is cleaned off and Karl sends them back out towards the village with a scratchy blanket he pulled out of the bottom of his desk drawer
he's working on his 'equipment' one day when he starts reaching for a wrench, keeping his focus on the body on the table
when i say this man jumps skyhigh at the kid asking a question, i mean it
he drags the kid back out, yelling about how dangerous it is and how "you shouldn't do that! you're gonna get yourself killed! go back home!"
the kid doesn't listen
it becomes a regular thing- Karl finds the kid wandering around the factory, Karl brings the kid out of danger, Karl tells them to get lost
eventually (day thirteen of this) he asks why the child keeps coming back
and he hates the answer he gets
it was something along the lines of "it's warm and there's nowhere else for me to go"
so Karl reluctantly eagerly lets them stay
it's a lot of rules at first (a kid shouldn't be allowed to just wander around a bunch of mindless cyborg killers, let alone a factory) but eventually the child learns to mind Sturm and the others
doesn't mean Karl does not have a fullblown heart attack when he walks into his workspace to find the kid tracing their finger along the center of the battery for the Soldats
after a very long talk (and some deep breathing) Karl reluctantly eagerly lets them sit against the very far wall to watch him work on the machinery- not, under any circumstances, the actual bodies
as the child blossoms into a young adult, they start to help out with certain aspects of Karl's work
exclusively machinery because Karl could not physically handle having his kid watch him get elbow-deep into a corpse
and Karl is so freaking proud of it
when the Soldat is kicked to life, he's got his kid in his arms and cackling like the proud dad he is
yeah. paternal Heisenberg>>>

Screams in the Night
Ada Thorne x Platonic!reader
Warnings: language, dickhead husband beats on his wife (not explicitly)
Word Count: 1,332
Requested by: @xoxo-deadshakira
Summary: Ada loves the new house Tommy bought her and Karl, but she can’t help but hear her neighbors screams in the night.
a/n: sorry it took so long darling. Hope you like it!❤️
Also this wasn’t proof read, if there’s mistakes let me know!🥰
*******************************************************
Ada learned to love the house Tommy had bought her. Yes, it was unnecessarily large for just her and Karl, but it offered so much. There was room for Karl to run and play, and Ada could actually invite friends over and not be cramped. Even her neighbors seemed nice.
The house to her right was a lovely family, at least they looked like it. William and y/n Johnson had two children, both boys. One was Karl’s age, Billy, and the other was just shy of five months. The adorable baby was Henry. Ada had tried to get a playdate for Karl and y/n always agreed, but William would interrupt last minute and said they had plans that day. Ada just shrugged it off, but now it was getting suspicious.
They seemed to be so happy and sweet, but it was getting harder and harder for Ada to ignore the screams in the night. She knew whatever was going on behind closed doors was nothing pretty.
Y/n would always come outside to water her garden or check their mail, and each time she had a different bruise that was poorly hidden. When Ada questioned her about it she just declared she was clumsy.
*******************
It was late at night when Ada heard a loud knock against her door. Knowing of Tommy’s enemies and considering the time she grabbed her small revolver from her purse and slowly crept towards the door. Holding her gun up, she forced the door open and held the gun to the intruder's face, but was only met with Tommy casually smoking a cigarette. Ada rolled her eyes and sighed, carelessly swinging her arms down to her side.
“Christ Tommy, do you even know what time it is? I could’ve shot you!”
Tommy just walked past her and poured himself a drink and plopped down on her couch.
Ada again rolled her eyes and shut the door before making her way over to Tommy, “Sure make yourself at home, s’not like you don’t pay for it.”
Tommy smirked up at his sister before putting his cigarette out. “How you been Ada? We all miss our lovely sister around.”
“Sure, act like you guys miss me, yeah. What’re you here for Tommy? You don’t just come to say hello.” She sat across from him and poured herself a drink, swallowing it all in one go. Tommy sighed, setting his drink down and leaning forward with his elbows on his knees, he went to speak when a loud scream from next door interrupted.
Ada stiffed in her spot, and Tommy raised a brow in her direction. It faded quite fast, but there was no doubt in Tommy’s mind that he heard what he heard.
He continued to stare at Ada, waiting for her to explain. Ada just sighed and squeezed her eyes shut, bringing her hand to pinch her nose.
“My neighbors, yeah, are a really sweet family. A nice husband and wife with two young boys. But almost every night I’ll hear screams, sometimes just once sometimes all night. I never know why, and I never ask. I’m too afraid to Tommy.”
Tommy’s brows furrowed, afraid? Why would she be afraid?
“Why are you afraid Ada? What’s going on over there, eh?”
She stood up and slammed her new drink on the table, “I don’t know Thomas! Bu-but the wife, her names y/n, always has new bruises everyday Tommy. And when I ask, she shuts down and says she’s clumsy.” She began to pace around the room, arms crossed with one leaning on the other, holding her head in her hand.
Tommy knew what she was referring to. He remembered when they were young and their neighbor down the street had the same thing happening to her, but then one day she was found dead, from strangulation. Her husband was never found.
“Ada..” he talked slow, not wanting to panic her even more, “ remember what happened to Mrs.Russo down the street, eh? Do you..” he gulped, no woman deserves this, “do you think that’s happening to her?”
Ada froze, not wanting to accept that her brother was probably right. She began to shake her head and stepped towards him, but stopped when another scream pierced the nights air.
She fell to the floor and began to cry, she should’ve helped this poor woman so long ago. She should’ve called her brothers, even Polly. It was a strong policy in the family that no man was to ever touch a woman, and they strongly lived by it.
Tommy hopped up from his seat and embraced Ada, rubbing circles all over her back. He whispered in her ear, “We should go help, yeah? You said they have kids? We need to help them Ada.” “C‘mon, up you go.” He pulled her up by her arms and helped her out the house. She didn’t resist, knowing he was right.
It took only moments to reach the Johnson's door, Ada took a deep breath, and so did Tommy. He drawled his gun and hid it behind his back before knocking, waiting for someone to answer. When the door slowly began to open, Ada took a step back letting her brother take the lead, not wanting to get in the way.
The siblings' hearts dropped when a terrified Billy opened the door with tears running down his face. Ada dropped to her knees, “Billy?! Sweetheart are you okay? Where’s your mum and brother?!”
He only began to cry harder, tears steadily spilling from his e/c eyes. All he could do was point up the stairs and Ada embraced him, telling Tommy to go. He didn’t hesitate before running towards the direction Billy pointed. He ran up the stairs and heard grunting and thrashing like someone was being murdered.
Following the noises, Tommy crept as softly as he could until he got to the last door at the end of the hall. He could hear crying from an infant, but nothing was louder than the grunts of pain and struggle.
Raising his gun in the air, Tommy kicked the door in with all his strength. There on the floor was y/n Johnson, thrashing with all her strength, turning blue with her husband's hands around her neck.
Her husband didn’t even have time to react, before he could even lift his head Tommy had fired the gun. The bullet effortlessly flew between his eyes.
Nobody reacted, Tommy just stood there and y/n laid there while her husband‘s body bled out on her. Neither one of them moved until they heard the screams coming from little Henry’s crib. Tommy ran over to the woman and helped her push the dead man’s body off of her. Y/n got up and ran to her babies crib, hugging him close to her body. Tears were running down both of their faces as y/n rocked him back and forth, repeating over and over “You’re okay, mamas got you.”
Tommy didn’t know what to do, he stood there and watched the scene unfold before him, his heart swelling knowing that for once, he did something good.
He backed away from the door when he heard small footsteps running up the stairs, Billy bursting in the room and ran to his mum’s legs as she crouched and hugged him close. Ada followed in shortly after and hugged Tommy to her side, smiling at the sight in front of her.
Stroking both of her boys' heads, y/n turned towards the Shelbys and whispered thank you over and over. Ada smiled in content, knowing there would be no more screams in the night.
