Miles Away.

For my Gaz girlies, something a little more upsetting. I struggled a bit, writing about loss is difficult. He’s also not in this a whole lot, like the first 2 paragraphs and the last 3 but oh well.

I will most definitely be writing about him more, I love how kind a gentlemanly he is. I want to cry on this man’s shoulder. 🫡🤍

Gaz will always be there for you, every step in your life, he’s there. To comfort you when your sad, to cook for you when your sick, and supporting you when you succeed at something new. The hardest part of loving someone who goes away for months at a time is waiting for them to come back, and suffering when they’re gone.

You get the devistating news that your father has passed away at the young age of 68. They say he passed peacefully in his sleep but you’re unsure of how much you believe that. Your father was your only remaining family, your mother passing a few years prior from progressive leukemia. Thankfully when your mother passed Gaz was right there to hold and comfort you in that time of need and sorrow. But this time Gaz is away, a 3 month deployment keeping his countries away from his home, from his lover that desperately needs him.

It doesn’t hit you untill later that week, that your father is really gone, and you need to start preparing for his funeral, the reading of his will, and what you will do with his remaining stuff. It tears through you, the grief and sorrow, you struggle to get out of bed, do laundry, or even wash yourself.

You only spiral further into this feeling of helplessness and darkness after the funeral. You have no concept of how much time it’s been between his passing and now. You lay curled in a mess of sheets, clothes, and blankets when you hear the door to your flat click open. You don’t bother to move or check who it could be, you don’t care anymore.

Then you hear the softness of a familiar voice in the doorway to your shared bedroom “Honey?” It asked gently and all the emotions that swarmed you in the past months come up. You sob, harder then you had before.

“Oh Kyle” You sob, your breath catching in your throat as you choke out words “My father, he’s..” the trail off in your words let’s Gaz know all he needs to, before he’s dropped all of his stuff, putting his own needs asside as he goes to hold you.

“Oh love” He whispers, his arms holding you strong and confident as you sob into his chest “I’m so sorry I wasn’t here” He strokes your hair gently as you continue to cry “I’m here now though, let me help you” He doesn’t judge you for the state you’re in, he just holds you, to comfort you for the time he’s missed.

He will continue to hold you, while you take your first shower in what feels like forever, he will hold you as you finally do laundry. And he will be there untill you feel yourself again. Always supporting you, and loving you. You’re his world, and you always will be.
