It's barely the end of the first day of school, and three faculty members are dead. Nobody knows much yet, but supposedly the six freshman who all managed to get detention on the very first day of school were involved and, if the rumors are to be believed, two of them actually died. In a dumb fight in the cafeteria against some animated corn. Kipperlily rolls her eyes when she hears it. They're clearly a bunch of losers who are going to either drop out or get someone killed before the year is out, but that's not really her problem, is it?

Still, just to be on the safe side, maybe their party should spend some time in the woods behind the school, and get some practice in with rats and things before they find themselves involved in a fight like those dumb detention kids did.

It's a month into the school year, and Kipperlily's starting to get the hang of things. She's feeling comfortable in a fight now, they've been killing rats and twig gremlins in the Far Haven Woods as often as they can manage, and they're getting really good at it. They even have a name now, the High 5 Heroes, chosen by Kipperlily herself, of course.

Meanwhile, Kipperlily's pretty sure the kids from detention actually killed someone, though nobody seems to be talking about it. Kipperlily doesn't care what anyone says, she's heard multiple people say they saw members of their group talking to Penelope Sam and Johnny spells, and then the day after Johnny Spells gets killed in a fucking car chase, the rich kid, who's literally the son of a pirate, has a mysterious new motorcycle? It's all far too suspicious.

It's the week after winter break, and Kipperlily is stuck in the stupid guidance councilor's office, talking about her dumb feelings. Unlike the Bad Kids (and what kind of stupid name is that), who apparently had an adventure dropped in their lap within minutes of the first school day ending, Kipperlily has been waiting months and still nothing has popped up. Plus Oisin and Ivy keep joking about changing their party name to the Rat Grinders.

It's dumb. Who would want a party name that's based on some joke? Besides, she already chose the name. So why on earth would they change it now? At least Lucy seems to agree with her about it.

It's just days after prom, and Kipperlily is sick of everything. The stupid Bad Kids apparently crashed prom and literally defeated Kalvaxus, Emperor of the Red Waste. It's honestly bullshit. A dumb group of kids that couldn't even make it through one day of school without getting one third of their party killed, and they're being credited with saving the entire continent? Kipperlily's been digging into the Bad Kids' history with every moment of her free time, trying to figure out how a bunch of dumb untrained kids managed something so huge. And she thinks she might have cracked it.

Kristen Applebees is literally Helio's Chosen One, and apparently Adaine Abernant is the new Oracle of the Elves. Kipperlily doesn't know what Fig, Fabian, or Gorgug's deals are yet, but if rumors are to be believed, then Riz Gukgak's dad was eaten by the very same Kalvaxus. Clearly the entire reason the Bad Kids are succeeding is because of their personal histories.

And to make matters worse, Oisin and Ivy managed to get the rest of the party to go along with the stupid Rat Grinders name. and Mary Ann didn't even have a reason for it! The only one who voted with her was Lucy. So now they've got a dumb name and no real adventuring prospects, and all the while, a bunch of kids who skip classes and get arrested are somehow getting perfect grades with no effort.

It's sophomore year and everything is terrible. The Rat Grinders meet every day to kill rats in the woods and it's dumb and boring, and not even a little bit difficult anymore, and she has to go to weekly councilor sessions with Jawbone, who's an ally of her rival adventuring party, which. Aguefort already clearly likes them, and even before he was resurrected they had managed to get two of their allies positions in the school. Which has to be an unfair advantage. And now Fig's dad is the vice principal rather than the lunch lad. It's really no wonder they never seem to get in trouble for skipping classes or any of their other bullshit.

At least she can use their connection with Jawbone to her advantage. Every meeting with him, she mines him for new information on the Bad Kids, who have been doing absolutely nothing so far this year.

It's sophomore year and The Rat Grinders are going to finally get their chance! Porter and Jace have approached her with the opportunity of a lifetime! Porter even said she shows a lot of promise! He doesn't even seem to take issue with his anger, and he says that he's going to help her become an amazing adventurer. All she has to do is accept this weird little rage star thing and start worshipping some dead god of rage. Kipperlily honestly isn't that much into religion, but this is the first interesting thing to happen to her all day. She's already working to convince Lucy to change her god.

It's sophomore year and even as Kipperlily is finally making progress, the Bad Kids are still showing her up. Somehow, they ended up fighting the Nightmare King himself, defeating him and somehow in the process, Kristen Applebees managed to ressurect a dead god of her own. It's bullshit and literally the only reason they manage to get back in time for the end of spring break is the direct intervention of the principal again. Plus now Fig has somehow managed to become an Archdevil and start dating Principal Aguefort's daughter. As if she wasn't already a rockstar.

It's sophomore year and Kipperlily's going to make the Rat Grinders the best adventuring party at Aguefort, even if it kills her.

It's junior year and the Bad Kids seemed determined to ruin her life. It's bullshit. They literally didn't even know who she was before this year, and they seem determined to ruin everything she's working towards. On the first day of school, they all collectively decided that Kristen was going to run for school president, seemingly as a bit, the exact second that they find out she's running. And immediately on meeting her they made fun of her fucking name for literally no reason.

It's junior year and everything's going to plan. Kristen's been expelled, and the Bad Kids are taking The Last Stand, and they've got the perfect opportunity to get rid of all the Bad Kids for good. And yet somehow Kristen fucking Applebees manages to ruin their fucking plans perfectly, spotting her out before she can succeed in killing the proctor and Buddy. Instead she has to kill Buddy and let Oisin take her away before the Bad Kids can do anything. So of course the Bad Kids get a literal perfect score on The Last Stand, and now they've all aced their classes for the whole year.

It's junior year and they're summoning a dead god. It's junior year and they find out as they're casting the spell, that the name they'd gotten was fucking wrong. It's junior year and despite all their preparations the Bad Kids have managed to get to the gymnasium with all their stupid fucking votes. It's junior year and Kipperlily is at least going to kill Riz. It's junior year and Riz literally dives into lava.

It's junior year and Kipperlily's going to kill Riz. He thinks he's hiding, but she can see him, and she's going to have to close with him, but this is her opportunity, and then she's in the air, and he's got her in a hold person spell, and she's falling, and she's in the lava, and it's so hot, and it burns, and then it's all gone.

It's junior year and Kipperlily is dead. It's junior year and she's in a world of crystal spines and lava, and in the reflections of the crystals, Kipperlily can see everything. She sees herself in those wretched meetings with jawbone, kicking at the leg of the chair, and she can see Jawbone asking her every fucking time, what can she do to become a better adventurer. As if it was ever in her control. As if she ever could have done anything. As if it wasn't all about her backstory the whole time. As if she weren't the boring daughter of two boring people. As if she had ever had a chance.

"Did you ever try?" She hears a voice ask. And then Ankarna is there. The god that she tried so hard to kill. "Did you ever really try to become a better adventurer, or did you just wait for it to happen to you?"

"I did everything I could!" Kipperlily insists. "It's unfair, why should they get all the advantages?"

"Were they really ever advantages? Or did you just decide they were?"

"You think those idiots deserved their success? All they ever do is screw around!"

"That is not what I have seen of them. Nor have I seen any better of you. Of course, you did your schoolwork and you did it to the letter, but when did you ever challenge yourself? When did you ever take a risk? When did you ever seek out a task that was more than what you felt certain you would succeed at? Would you have even have the courage to take part in Porter's plan if he had not personally trained you, ensured that you were all as powerful as possible? You insist that the Bad Kids are only successful because of their tragic history, but what of Gorgug? There is not one thing in his past that drives him and yet he has succeeded at doing things no one else has ever managed." Ankarna stares long and hard at her, and then she is gone and Kipperlily is alone again. With nothing in her death but her own thoughts to keep her company.

so without further ado, under the cut is my (not so definitive) pedro pascal character ranking…..! (based mainly on attraction/how much I enjoy writing them)

FRANKIE MORALES. frankie. frankie frankie frankie. my man. sunshine of my life (haha see what I did there). there is just something about this character that really crawled into my chest, wrapped himself around my heart and said ”hi I live here now” and I’m cool with it. handsome in that rugged way, a little bit damaged, and good with his hands? done. hook, line, and sinker.

DIN DJARIN. oh the sweet soft-spoken tin can space man. in all honesty, him and Frankie fight for the top spot on a daily basis and sometimes the beskar-covered bounty hunter wins, and he truly was my pedro gateway drug so he’s gotta be high on my list.

JAVIER PEÑA. ohhhhhh mama I love me some Javi. (do I mainly blame my gargantuan crush on @the-ginger-hedge-witch and her brilliant Crush series YES AS A MATTER OF FACT I DO) something about those tight fuckin’ jeans and the stache and the aviators like yep honey take me I’m yours

JAVIER GUTIERREZ. sunshine baby angel too good for this world I just wanna give him a little kiss and carry him around in my pocket and make sure no harm every comes to him (no I haven’t written anything for him yet but I been thinkin’ thots okay)

DIETER BRAVO. ✨the trash man✨ another one I just wanna carry around in my pocket, also the hair does things for me (same with Javi G) like just let me run my fingers through it and I’ll die a happy gal. questionable life choices maybe, but we’ve all been there, right?

OBERYN MARTELL. oh my HEART. *cue adele* we could have had it AAAAAAAAAALLLLLLLLL. I would say spoilers but it was legitimately 8 years ago but he was so CLOSE and then so SQUISHED. tbh oberyn is the most intimidating to me to even think of writing but maybe someday….

MARCUS PIKE. I do really like Marcus. cheesy as hell? check. bit overboard sometimes? double check. BUT I really like the history of the character we got in limited scenes AND I have a fic idea for him I’ve been sitting on FOREVER and I def have to use it soon!

PERO TOVAR. okay I love me a grungy fantasy man okay like that’s my bread and butter. add in the grouchiness and the obvious way to his heart through his stomach? it’s go time, baby, I got plans for him too!

JACK DANIELS. oh darlin’, he hits the middle of my list for the sole reason that pedro and that whip awoken something in me that hasn’t shut up since I watched that movie and if you don’t think I’ve watched that clip where he pushes his jacket back and it’s a crystal-clear shot of his ass you are WRONG

EZRA PROSPECT. fits the grungy, violent thing pedro seems to work with half the time, and honestly, the linguistics of this man make my head spin (the main reason I haven’t written much for him because it’s a looooot of effort to try and think up dialogue for him!!!) BUT I do love that little moon-touched spot and the scar and the smile and just ugh yum

THE THIEF. full disclosure: I haven’t read a lot of fics about the thief (if anyone has recs let me at ‘em) buuuuuut I really like the whole vibe he has and the outfit? spectacular.

MARCUS MORENO. the glasses definitely do it for me but idk something about him I just…meh. have definitely read some fab fics about daddy moreno (maybe I’ll revisit him at some point). still hot, still delicious, just not my number one fav.

MAX PHILLIPS. maybe not the biggest asshole pedro’s played but definitely up there? I sat through the movie just for him, honestly the scene of him on the couch made it worth it and the smarminess is something else, but idk if I could ever write him! (kudos to all that do!)

DAVE YORK. ok ok ok ok OKAYYYYYYY. listen. he’s the baddie (and like a really bad baddie) so I gotta put him low on my list as far as attraction goes (plus I have mixed emotions about P without facial hair but I digress…) BUT I do have ideas. they are on the horizon. keep your eyes OPEN.

MAX LORD. I haven’t even watched wonder woman 1984 and I know he needs to be down here. maybe I’ll get some form of intoxicated this weekend and power through it, just for shits and giggles!

Gay Graphic Novels that you should definitely read ✨

This list is just ones that I’ve read and enjoyed btw.

Fence by C.S Pacat and Johanna The Mad. THIS!!! Is my fav graphic novel series aaaaaa. If you like slow burns that could envy the speed of a glacier, a diverse cast with two central queer POC, high school romance and a fencing centred storyline, you’ll love Fence. It’s snappy, fast paced and I’m in love with the entire cast. The lead characters are brilliant but I find that it’s the other main characters who really bring this to life. Also, the art is stunning. You also don’t need to know anything about fencing for you to understand the stakes, it’s all brilliantly explained in-story.

Lumberjanes by Shannon Watters, Grace Ellis, Brooklyn A. Allen and Noelle Stevenson (yes that Noelle.) Lumberjanes is set at a Girl Scouts type camp where strange mystical things keep happening. If you like a range of awesome art styles, girls, gays, mystical powers and the power of friendship, Lumberjanes is for you. It’s charmingly whimsical, and features a lesbian couple, a trans girl (with no focus on suffering yay she’s just awesome), being best friends and a bear woman. Need I say more?

On A Sunbeam by Tillie Walden. First, this graphic novel is CHUNKY. Second, it is fantastically gloriously beautiful. Seriously, Tillie Walden’s art style is not to be missed. Guh. With again, an incredibly diverse central cast including a nonbinary kid, two lesbians who are together and two pining lesbians. Of you love sci fi (the whole thing is set in space, and the main characters are architects who restore old space buildings) and ships that look like goldfish paired with utterly stunning visuals and a central gay love story storyline plus some coming of age thrown in, you’ll love On A Sunbeam. Seriously. Go read it.

Nimona by Noelle Stevenson (yup, that Noelle again.) Nimona is amazing. Not that you’d expect anything less from the insanely amazing person who came up with She-Ra. If you prefer less central romances, Nimona is a great choice. It focuses on found family, corrupt empires and platonic love and the dialogue is incredibly funny. If you like shapeshifters with pink hair, medieval fantasy, morally grey villains with tragic backstories and a good dose of enemies to lovers, you should go read Nimona right this instant.

Spinning by Tillie Walden. Yup, another Tillie Walden. She’s amazing. You’ll thank me later. Spinning is autobiographical, written about her childhood figure skating in Texas. It’s incredibly beautiful and very touching. If you like skating, art that makes you want to cry, and a coming of age lesbian story, you’ll probably cry at spinning. It’s not particularly sad, just very emotive. And stunning.

Fun Home by Alison Bechdell. Aah, Fun Home. If you’ve heard of it, trust me, it’s worth the hype. Another autobiographical one, fun home follows Alison as she grows up in rural Pennsylvania, the family living in the shadow of her father, the director of the local funeral home, juxtaposed with her in more present day trying to come to terms with the revelation that her father is gay. This one is definitely for older readers, and if you like tragicomedy, dark humour, a lesbian coming of age story, Odyssey comparisons, and more realism based graphic novels, Fun home is for you. There’s also a musical of it! If you like layered harmony, I recommend giving it a listen on Spotify.

Drama by Raina Telgemeier. Like Nimona, the central character isn’t gay, but this is a charming graphic novel based on a group of high school stagehands. Drama is very sweet and funny, and you’re rooting for all the main characters. If you like high school coming of age stories, theatre, theatre gays, and something that won’t leave you an emotional wreck, I highly recommend Drama.

Heartstopper by Alice Oseman. Everyone. Loves. Heartstopper. And for very good reason. The art style is awesome, the love story will make you *sobs* believe in true love and lose all your teeth from how darn sweet this story is. I want to hug all of the characters. It’s the gay teen romance story you always wanted to read but never got to until now. Heartstopper will clear your skin and water your crops. If you like main characters you want to hug, side characters you ALSO want to hug, sensitive handling of mental illness that doesn’t take away from the sweetness and lightness of the series and happy gay and trans characters, you’ll adore heartstopper.

2021 Housekeeping

Hey guys. Sorry for this blog being like, dead for all of December. A lot of holiday stuff happened and I just got sidetracked with all of that. That aside, I figured since this is the start of a new year I should go over some of the stuff I did throughout 2020. This is strictly dealing with things that I personally did for this blog. I want to keep this a safe-space and not deal with the crap that went on this year, for both you guys and me.

Dafuking Films:

For a first attempt I think this went pretty well. 32/52 isn’t that bad, given how I have a real bad habit of just dropping things and never returning to them. Plus with the actual quarantine going on, watching a bunch of different movies people suggested to me was a lot of fun. Some were fantastic and enjoyable. Some people just really wanted me to suffer. But still, good times were had by all. I still have the list of movies that people suggested to me from last year, so I’m still gonna try to go through them all. Maybe twice a month instead of weekly so I won’t burn myself out like before. Regardless, I had fun, so I’m going to continue this.

Just to get this out of the way. Website was a valiant attempt. Didn’t really give a shit nor cared about the uptake. I Tried. I got tired updating it. If I was going to use it 100% then I would just move from Tumblr to There, which I won’t since all of my good shit is here. So I’m gonna move on.

Newvember:

This was a great idea. I had so much fun doing Newvember. No worries, no commitment. Just reading random shit with no pressure to maybe add them to my already overflowing list of blogs. It also helped me figure out what works and what doesn’t in terms of blogging.

Comic strips comics don’t really work well for me. I mean, the only good things to blog is just the last 2 panels, so I’m sort of only blogging the punchline which ruins the joke if people want to read it themselves. So stuff like Dominic Deegan and Sluggy Freelance probably won’t fly unless they somehow turn into page-format in the future.

Novels and Webnovels are flipping hard for me to figure out on just the logistics on how to blog. Do I give like a page summary on what I read like with The Wandering Inn? Or just do screenshots of the lines to react to like with Detective Pony and A Practical Guide To Evil? I am still working that out so I might not do much written stuff until I find a groove I like.

Interactive Comics get a toss up. I think Homestuck sort of spoiled me a bit here. I’m so used to how Homestuck works that I’m instinctively comparing other interactive comics to it even though I very read an Interactive comic while it was actually interactive. Stuff like Ruby and Awful Hospital unfortunately already has a high bar to jump over just because I like/used to the Homestuck format.

For the liveblogs themselves now that I have time away from them:Dark Science got a cool Cyberpunk vibe to it with a mix of magic-maybe. So it would be cool to read, but probably won’t continue it until the longer blogs like Girl Genius and Order of the Stick get caught up/finished first. Poppy O’Possum is just cute and honestly refreshing to have the main character be a hard-working mom. How to Be a Werewolf is a slowburn of how werewolves work, which I am always a sucker for how lore works. But I don’t really remember too much else from it so I might not revisit it given how I’m not too invested in it. Granted the same can be said for the prologue of Girl Genius and we saw how THAT went. Dominic Deegan is 90s fantasy slice of life, but with like some way old comedy jokes that I can just hear the ba-dum-tsst every punchline. So, yeah that one’s gonna drop. Practical Guide to Evil is a really cool read and I always like fantasy rpg style settings. I like the idea of Titles giving power and having the protagonists be the necessary evil. But again, I have to figure out how to webnovels. Awful Hospital has interesting art, but it isn’t really clicking with me too much so I’m probably gonna drop it. Sluggy Freelance is just wild. Part of it is the random plot things like having asshole rabbits and sci-fi references. Other part is me just saying random shit like how Dirk Strider is living his offshoot life in this comic. Fun read, but I don’t think the strip comics are good liveblog stuff. So will probably drop.  A Better Place ABSOLUTELY Slaps. I was down with that since the first comic. Will 100% continue with that (when I get enough space). Blindsprings has an interesting 1800s steampunk magic vibe and I do like the theme of idealization vs reality. Check Please is cute. I’m A Spider is a fun isakai with a cool twist of being reborn as a monster. Not Drunk Enough is just terrifying. Both with the horror and alcohol poisoning.

Basically: A Better Place will definitely be revisited. Poppy, Check Please, Blindsprings, and I’m a Spider will probably be revisited for just short quick sessions. Not Drunk Enough and Dark Science might come back if/when I am finished with longer series.

Either way, I like doing Newvember. So I am going to initiate Ju-New-ne to be the next New-Blog month. So this WILL happen again.

Schedule:

Yeah I believe my time of doing daily blogging sessions is over. It worked well for 2019, but that time is basically over. I probably will try to go for twice a week if I can. It sounds fair enough for content.

I am NOT giving up on my Undertale videos. There is more coming. I just got stalled because I lost my art stylus for drawing the thumbnails. I swear to Jegus I am going to Post the entire thing!!! I Shan’t Give Up!!!

Homestuck:

So early 2020 is the time, where after 2 full years I finished reading Homestuck. It was, honestly, a wild ride and wild time. My literal presence on this blog was shaped because of Homestuck from the asks to videos to discord. It was just, good. Nice. Like looking back through a memory book with warm feelings. Having it end the way it did was good, especially with when it ended. I might make posts on how I view the characters overall, maybe make a Final Epilogue Troll Rank/Fav Rank. I will work on that.

And from that, I think that a year is probably long enough for me to revisit Homestuck again. Pesterquest, Epilogue, HS’2, whatever is the next sequel. Hell maybe Problem Sleuth and see what the hell all those references were about. The goal is to be caught up in a bunch of other comics first. Like, gonna gun for 3-5. Once I get caught up (or close to it) then I will return into Hussie’s orange arms once again.

Anyway, that’s a surprise for anyone who actually bothers to read to the end of this. Happy New Year everyone.

Discriminated against at every turn, mutants are marked and monitored by The Registry and any deemed too dangerous are taken away to The Facility. It’s no surprise that many try to hide or choose a more permanent way out if a mutation develops.

Castiel’s parents hid his mutation and hid him away from the world. He’s grown up with the knowledge that the world will hate him, no matter what he does. If he leaves the house, he can only do it with a long, heavy coat that covers the most beautiful part of him.

Those are always pretty darn amazing and Dean has a very vivid imagination.

post-9.01, in a slight AU wherein Cas comes to live with the Winchesters at the Bunker. Written before 9.03. Crossposting from Tumblr. Written for a prompt from hightopsandsharpies: "Okay, so Cas is a virgin, and has no idea what pleasure is and Dean decides to show him and Cas gets all cuddly and needy afterwards."

Dean walks in on Cas masturbating. He’s doing it all wrong, but when you’re a bazillion-year-old virgin, that’s to be expected. Dean decides to lend him a hand in a totally platonic, non-romantic way. Things get a little out of control.

It means Castiel would get to keep fighting – and that’s the only way he knows to give meaning to his life.

That’s a thousand times better than what Angels really turned out to be.

■What is your favorite episode/scene from the Game of Thrones TV series?

Battle of the Bastards, Loot train attack, Tower of Joy, First look at Ser Arthur Dayne 💜 basically every time arya is on screen. But I guess S05E04 holds a special place in my heart that whole episode was about Subtle hints at jon's Parentage/Subtle-mild hints at Jonerys future magical babies/ & had perhaps my most fav scene in the show of dany & Ser Barristan Selmy bonding over Rhaegar!

■What ruler do you think brought about the most change in Westeros, be it good or bad?

Jaehaerys I Targaryen, the Conciliator. Alysanne Targaryen, the Good Queen. I think they were the Obama's of the 7k literally inherited the realm from Maegor who almost crumbled the dynasty & the realm but they rebuilt it to last for two more centuries. While you asked Good & Bad I'd like to mention for 99% of good that Baehaerys did there was 1% of bad done by him too. The Iron Precedent of 101 A.C. that establishes male inheritance over female which single handedly caused DOD, Blackfyre Rebellions & is still a problem! If only Jaehaerys would've listened to Alysanne & made daenerys the heir! Listen to your wives Men! Make it a habit!

■If you could ask GRRM one question what would it be?

In a shitty, patriachial world like Westeros, where it is more than clear that men have build & sustained their kingdoms & legacies through Acts of War or Revenge or Want & Need to secure power. Why are women like Daenerys, Arya & Cersei criticized as would-be Mad or psychotic/Too far gone or Already Mad characters?

■If GRRM could write a short novel/series about one other family or historical time (besides the Targaryens) in his universe what would you want it to be about? (My choice would be Nymeria’s Journey!)

I would like to learn more about The Daynes man House Dayne! They are so peculiar, mysterious & any reader of asoiaf knows theres more to that house that is important for the endgame than what we know! More about this family dating back to the Dawn age & the era of the rule of Kings of Torrentine. More about Ashara Dayne & her eldest brother who is still unnamed what is his name? How did he actually look like if his son has valyrian features? was he a snack just like his younger brother?.. you know.. important questions like those needs to be answered!

■What was your first introduction to ASOIAF/Game of Thrones? Did someone tell you about it, did you see it online or did you come across it at a store/shop?

My cousin told me about the book series but I was busy with my studies at the time so I couldn't pick it up. But then the show happened & he told me about it too so I watched the first season before reading the books. Then I picked up my Jaw from the floor after watching S01 & straight away bought those books. & THAT'S HOW MY LIFE ENDED!

■What’s one thing that bothers you about GRRM’s series?

I think it's the doylism that bothers me. It has always bothered me I am a Tolkien nerd & that man wrote stories beyond human capacity & error. Middle earth is as fantasy as fantasy can be & even though J. R. R Tolkien was inspired to write his stories by the service he did in military during war his story isn't a doylist one, maybe mild references here & there but nothing as serious as asoiaf. I feel like doylism complicates everything in this story! (P.S I also never was much of a history student Biology was Life!)

■What’s one thing you unabashedly love about GRRM’s series?

The impossibly, irrevocably, unattainable & unfair high expectation of men (selective men) that GRRM has created. I mean good luck to myself on getting in a relationship or getting married coz you aint never gonna be Ser Arthur Dayne awesome or Rhaegar Targaryen & Jon Snow Broody, Melancholy sexy!

■What are your feelings about the prequel series in development at HBO right now for the Long Night?

I really really love Bran Stark & how he is connected to the rich 8,000 or longer history of Kings of Winter & the actual nature of this world, all the stuff that predates back to Dawn Age. First Long Night is something I would definitely love to watch, Fingers crossed am sure I'll like it! Also because valyria came into existence right after the First Long Night so this series only gives me hope for a Valyrian Freehold Prequel THAT WHICH I TRULY WANT!

20 Best Gambit & Rogue Covers (Part 1)

For the hottest couple in the Marvel universe, there are surprisingly few truly great (and truly hot!) Rogue & Gambit covers to be published since the characters began flirting literal decades ago.

In the run up to our BIG RELEASE of Rogue & Gambit #1 on 1/3/18...and with a all of us aching for the lettered preview to drop, I thought I’d count down the 20 best Gambit & Rogue covers.

I AM including Kris Anka’s publicly released covers for our series in the running, even though they are not yet published...because...well, because this is the FIRST EVER ROGUE & GAMBIT COMIC AND HOW COULD I NOT???

If you think I missed something...it’s possible. But it’s also possible I’m just not a fan of that cover. To each their own as they say.

Most importantly...can anything we’ve seen yet beat the most iconic Rogue & Gambit cover of all time? (C’mon, you know the one!)

Anyway, here’s to A LOT MORE Gambit & Rogue hotness in our future and onto the list! :D

HONORABLE MENTION: This is not a cover, but rather an illustration. Done by Clay Mann, unarguably one of the best Rogue & Gambit (singular or together!) artists of all time. If this was an actual cover...it would be Top 3, easy. Unfortunately, it’s just a gorgeous illustration. So honorable mention it is!

20. GAMBIT #12 - CLAY MANN. A really nice cover overall, great movement and drama, but gets points off (in this very specific category!) for including not only a villain but another woman (gasp!). But we’ve got a couple of those on this list where Rogue brings someone else to the party...so let’s hold off on the pearl clutching. It also gets points off for really ugly title block nonsense at the bottom and a FREAKING AD. I hate that. Not Mann’s fault of course, but always something I consider when I judge a “cover” rather than an “illustration.”

19. X-TREME X-MEN #21 - SALVADOR LARROCA. I suspect this ranks higher for a lot of folks as it’s a nice illustration and they have a nice vibe about them here. But this there’s just a lot from this run I don’t love and some of it shows up on this cover. Although Gambit’s outfit isn’t the worst his hair is a bit mullet-ish and both of their hair is a sort of dull light brown instead of the more dramatic auburn I prefer. But mostly I hate Rogue’s uniform, especially the color. And I REALLY hate that hair cut...like...SO MUCH. So points off for all of that, despite a nice illustration.

18. X-MEN LEGACY #260 - CLAY MANN. And here we have Rogue bringing someone else to the party...Magneto. Not cool, Rogue. Other than that though, this is a really nice cover. Rogue looks powerful, everyone looks gorgeous, and the way the eye is drawn to the primary figures really works. I always hated this uniform for Rogue (a scarf? really?) but Mann draws it really well here. The story line title block is slightly obnoxious and I could probably do without everyone else on the cover...so minor points off for that too?

17. UNCANNY X-MEN #248 - JOE MADUREIRA. The biggest issue with this cover - other than it not getting to be very hot since it’s about splitting them apart - is just all the damn text covering things up. the illustration itself is really nice. Gambit cast in a lot of shadow with Rogue in the light is a nice touch, as is the literal tearing between them/behind them. These outfits were never my fav (though Remy looks good in blue!) but due to the story line at the time they became pretty iconic for the pair, so I don’t fight it. :D Too bad about that title block and nonsense tho.

16. X-TREME X-MEN XPOSE’ #2 - RODOLFO MIGLIARI. I love the use of white space here, and it’s really nice posing/connection for our leads and a beautiful illustration. But the hyper realistic style is just not my favorite. I think when characters start looking too much like people you sometimes start to lose the fantasy a bit. I think Gambit looks better here than Rogue (her mouth is a bit funny?) and we also we get points off for Rogue’s awful hair and the red uniform.

15. X-MEN LEGACY #226 - TERRY & RACHEL DODSON. A really gorgeous effort by the Dodsons. Rogue especially is just magnificent (they always do a pretty spectacular Rogue). The coloring/lighting is absolutely fantastic. This mostly just loses points for featuring another character (Danger) and for not really having the two leads engaging with one another (again, not a problem, except for in this specific category). If Rogue and Gambit were engaged with one another I think this would place very high - maybe even Top 5? I’d love to see the Dodson’s do a more romantic Rogue/Gambit cover. Swoon. Title block is pretty good here too!

14. GAMBIT #11 - CLAY MANN. This is another case of a great cover that just loses points in this specific category. i.e. it’s “splitting them up” (quite literally in this case). But it’s a great looking cover and I love the little details in the expressions and body language of Rogue and Gambit in the photo. It’s a really great idea, executed wonderfully, just not strong enough in this particular category. Again though, points off for that awful bottom red title block bar including an eyesore of an ad. :P

13. X-MEN #45 - ANDY KUBERT. So, this definitely loses points in the hotness and romance categories, but it’s definitely an iconic cover for the pair (and especially when you consider it’s a cool fold out cover (and the magnificent Rogue/Gambit story inside!) I feel like it nudges itself up a couple points. Plus the title block is really minimal on the “front” letting the characters sell the book.

12. ROGUE #5 - RODOLFO MIGLIARI. I have the same issues here as I did for Migliari’s entry at #15 - the “hyper realistic style” just isn’t really for me. But this one gets points for Rogue looking far better (better hair, classic outfit), and for just generally being pretty hot. I like that there isn’t a LOT of title block and nonsense - but that color and overdone “treatment” on the ROGUE font is not great.

11. X-MEN: THE END #6 - GREG LAND. This is actually quite beautiful. There’s a ton of tension in the posing (and implications of potential actions). The body language is great, and Rogue looks...well, drop dead gorgeous. I was never a fan Rogue’s tattoos (even though I am a fan of tattoos generally) but Land does a pretty good job of making it work here. Gambit’s got more pouches than seems necessary (on the other hand he IS a character where a lot of nonsense pouches actually make a ton of sense, especially if he’s not got the trench coat). There’s more title block (etc) then I’d like, but it’s pretty well integrated, including the figures floating OVER it, which I always like. Overall, really nice.

I was bored so I decided to do a masterpost/kinda fic recs of some of my favourites bnha fics/authors if any on you wants some stuff to read have fun

- Summer stars by pitviperofdoom (personal fave). It’s a tododeku long fic set during the summer of their first high school year and deals also with Shouto’s trauma. Also there’s mom Inko and I love her very much. Inted tsuchako and bakushima (all others pitviper’s fics are to be read, I especially like Where the ocean meet the sky - tododeku fantasy au, Izuku is a merman and Shouto a human - and Count your blessings, not your flaws - tododeku, i generally hate the misunderstanding trope but here it’s really well written and one of my fav fics)

- Yours, mine, ours and 2 A.M. by cityboys (personal faves). They are part of the same serie and set in the same universe/period. The first is a Momojirou/Tododeku: Momo decides to start a summer part time job at a catering company and there she meets Kyoka, while Shouto tries to find the courage to go visit his mother who left the hospital and in the meantime meets Izuku. The second one is a Bakushima: Katsuki goes back to his hometown during summer and ends up working at a restaurant with Eijirou and Ochako. Also Ochako roasts Katsuki a lot and it’s one of the few bakushima fic in wich i liked the way izuku and bakugou’s relationship is portrayed (=> izuku avoids bakugou like the fucking plague)  (of cityboys I also read Where dreams come true wich is another Tododeku a little angst - Inko is sick and Izuku is disappointed by life - but really good)

- Sore must be the storm by Pouler. Post canon tododeku, tw for claustrophobia and mention of past abuse. (personal fave)

- How to make Bakugou Katsuki a decent human being by keptein. Bakushima, it’s exactly what it seems, plus dyslexic Eijirou

- 2am knows all secrets by sarahhaley. Bakushima longfic (the best bakushima fics have 2 am in the title somehow) set after Kamino, hurt/comfort, Bakugou keeps having nightmares after his rescue and Eijirou helps him. tw for anxiety attacks and nightmares post trauma. 

- We can be each other’s number one fans by Claus_Lucas. Miritama, since they were children to high school years. Mirio and Tamaki are both autistic. tw for bullying.

- I Want Some Satisfaction by Barkour. Inatodo long fic, in wich Inasa has two moms, is totally oblivious and Tsuyu is married with Mina. (personal fave)

- Demolition lovers: beginnings by TMOTC. Long fic Tododeku with quirkless Shouto who works as a doctor for Recovery Girl. Background Ochaiida. TW: domestic abuse, panic attacks, mention of marital rape

- theroyalsavage has some good fics too, my personal favourites: Rush in my veins (tododeku, izuku is a boxer and shouto a dancer), what is right and what is easy  (hp au, triwizard tournament, main tododeku, background bakushima and tsuchako), in death, at the end of the world (long fic, supernatural au, main tododeku, background bakushima and tsuchako), the heart inside (kiki delivery service au, tododeku, really background bakushima)

- Every cloud has a silver lining by korsokov. This is, honestly, the funniest fic i’ve ever read (i aready made a colletion of the funniest moment). It’s a main tododeku with minor momojirou and background miritama, a quirkless au in wich Shouto is a producer and Izuku is the new weatherman. You... you just have to read it this fic is an extracorporeal experience. (personal fave)

- But I’ve got an angry heart by newamsterdam. A bakushima longfic, college au that deals with mental health issues, it’s cute. From the same author i read another bakushima, slow it down (go easy on me), in wich Bakugou finds himself in the future - because of the quirk of a villain - in wich he is married to Eijirou. It’s cute even if the second hand embarassment of some scenes physically knocked me down. CW: a thing i don’t love about this author’s fics is how the write the relationship between izuku and bakugou and the behaviour this one has towards izuku (it’s basically impossible to find a bakushima fic in wich the relationship between those two is decently written)

- Slow down, start dancing by mangothief. Super sweet and funny momojirou, in wich they have to write a project overnight and, well, we all know how those things end up.

- cryscale has written lot of short but cute one shots, most with crack f/f pairings: some are living close to the ground (a cute minatsuyu), if sex in our society (it’s pairingless, it deals with misogyny and sexualization in the pro hero world, with some female pro heroes explaining stuff to the students) and i wish we were all rose colored (its a todoiideku that deals with Izuku’s ptsd for being bullied by Bakugou) and I am floating away (tsuchako, tsuyu is a ballerina and ochako does stage makeup)

- Moral compass by aliencereal: it’s a iideku longfic (still a work in progress) that deals a lot with Tenya’s character and also his friendship with Ochako and Shouto (and that deals with sexual harassment and Mineta’s problem bless the writer)

- I won’t just buy you a rose by aknightley: tododeku, Shouto decides to finally go meet his mother in the hospital and in a flower shop he meets quirkless izuku. It even has a sequel, time left to be lazy, in wich Izuku gains One for All and starts going to Yuuei with Shouto. (the same author wrote don’t care if the world knows, another cute tododeku one shot)

- Gruff Knuckles by ryuuzaou: todoiideku, cute and with lot of funny parts wich im really grateful in fics

- celestialfics wrote a LOT of fics (i still have to read them all lol): some are Drink my thoughts (tododeku hurt/comfort), a certain warmth (todoiideku), that is just the way (tododeku, sleepover) 

- Leave it to your head (and your heart) by orphan_account: a very short but cute momokendou (i really like how momo is characterized)

- Misguided Missile by bunnyscribe: Shinsou can’t sleep, climb to Midoriya’s room, ask him to fight and has a breakdown. Mood.

It seems 2 (two) human beings might be interested in a recommendation fic list. SO HERE IT IS   Things to have in mind:   .It was supposed to be short but I ended up mentioning 97 fics, sorry   .I used 10 categories (highschool, college, modern setting, Kingdom / Fantasy Au / Magic, Miscellaneous Aus, Post-series, canon, reunion, Life Swap and Gender Bend) . Five top and bottom kudo'd fics

I was tagged by the lovelies @skyler10fic and @perfectlyrose (and technically @chocolatequeennk as well). The thing is - I don't have 10 actual fics. On Ao3. So because so many people seemed to be interested I have decided to include ff.net in the mix. Which will probably come back to bite me. Oh well.

Top Five

1. Fool Me Once - this shouldn't surprise anyone, it's my flagship fic so far. Although given it's my first one for the fandom as well, I've been shocked and gratified by the reception. Thank you so much, everyone!!

2. Something of the Wolf - Sneaking in at number two is the fluffiest Doctor/Rose fic (maybe ever?) It does have a lot of things people tend to like - Ten/Rose, and Bad Wolf, and telepathic bonding and Jack Harkness, plus it's a Doomsday fixit. I'm so grateful for people sticking with it despite the long hiatus.

3. Shatter and Collide - I'm surprised that this one is number three, simply because one shots seem to do better than multi-chaps (in my admittedly unscientific understanding.) But it's a super fluffy JE fixit and reunion and I'm very happy with it.

4. Good Enough - okay, so here's the first ff.net entry on the list. I wrote this when I was in high school and it shows. I'm not ashamed of it, because writing is supposed to develop over time and I do really like bits of what I've done with it. Still. Proceed with caution. I was quite excited by the response that it got back in the day (195 reviews and 69 favs.) For a 47 chapter fic that took me over a year to finish posting back in 2010, that's pretty impressive. (Balthier x OC, Final Fantasy XII)

5. Skyhold Slept - VERY angsty one-shot that I wrote when I didn't have a tumblr and hadn't really been active in the fandom at all. I'm surprised this one got as many kudos as it did, tbh. But I do really like it. (Lavellan & Dorian, implied Solavellan and Dorabull + Qunari Bull, Dragon Age: Inquisition)

5. Falling Into You - okay. I wrote this... well before high school. The concept is childish, childishly executed. If you're a Fruits Basket uberfan or really want to torture yourself into seeing how far I've come, go for it. Otherwise stay away. I still get the occasional fav for this every now and then and I'm like... how? (I was intending to turn this into a series. I still have a few unfinished fics floating about.) 4. A Match Made in Hell - So, I write when I have Feels. And I definitely had some after watching the second and third PotC movies. That's how this fic came about. It's super cliche and very angsty, but I don't really feel anything for it. It just is. I like what I did with Jack and his hallucinations (oooh, I just noticed a trend!) But mostly it was just a departure for me to write an OC who wasn't intended for my favourite character. I wrote and finished a sequel, but the fic didn't garner enough attention to justify me posting it, which is honestly for the best. (OC & Will Turner, PotC)

3. My Greatest Mistake - A very angsty one-shot alternate ending of Good Enough, inspired by the song "Valentine's Day" by Linkin Park (which should tell you all you need to know). By the time I posted it the excitement over the fic itself had faded and no one was interested, which is fair enough.

Coming in at the bottom with zero kudos (I don't even have 10 posted fics after all, lol) is Morwynion, my 400 page Lord of the Rings fic that I wrote when I was 12 years old. It is basically my genesis (though not the first fic I wrote) and the love of my life, and no one will ever read a word of it. It used to be posted online, back in the Angelfire days, but of course that no longer exists, and I will be keeping it that way. It's an OC fic, like all of my early fics were, and of course the OC falls in love with Legolas, and of course she follows the Fellowship, and of course there are lengthy conversations in Elvish and she has a beautiful singing voice and sings all the time. It's angsty and overdramatic and the the romance is overblown and it actually contains some original adventures. It was a fun playground for me and my LotR/Elvish studies when most people my age were getting interested in boys and, I dunno, being cool and stuff. :P

10. Sci-Fi or fantasy? Why?

Hmmm generally sci-fi because I hate historical fiction like I just cannot read it and since the majority of fantasy is also historical I tend to shy away from it - I adore urban fantasy but there doesn’t tend to be much of it. I’m also just a sucker for space which is an obsession sci-fi tends to indulge

11. Classic or modern? Why?

Modern - again I dislike historical fiction - the way we write has also changed and such classical fiction often feels really stilted to me.

12. Political memoirs or comedic memoirs?

Oh god - I want them both? I mean the ultimate goal is a comedic political memoir. I find comedic memoirs more readable and like you can just read them for hours whereas political memoirs tend to be more wordy and if I don’t know much about the situation I need to stop and google or you know just pause to work it all out in my head. The thing with comedic memoirs is they’re easier to do well than political memoirs which can very easily become quite dry so I suppose my answer would be that a good political memoir trumps but the majority of comedic memoirs are better than the majority of political memoirs

16. If you could bring three books to a deserted island which would you bring and why?

Okay so I won’t do the edgy How to Build a Raft joke. I’d props go with Everyyou Every because it’s my fav, then Che My Brother because I’ve been meaning to read it because I know very little about Cuba and what place to not offer distractions than a deserted island - I’ll be able to start a socialist island community with the animals that live there it’ll be rad. And the third GOT book because I’ve just tarted reading it and let’s face it it’ll definitely give me many hours of entertainment

17. If you owned a bookshop what would you call it?

Mark’s Bookstore - nah I’m joking probably something cat related? Like I don’t know ‘The Cat and the Mouse’ or ‘The Cat’s Pyjamas’ or ‘The Cheshire Cat’ and then there would be a bunch of cats which live in the book store

22. Pro or anti e-readers? Why?

Theoretically pro them but actually nah - I think half the reason I’m so angsty about long fanfics (unless they are super good) is because I don’t like reading off a screen - I also like the aesthetic of book shelves and being like hmmm I don’t know what to read and just being able to browse actual books you know.

27. If you could change one thing about mainstream literature what would you change? (i.e. more diversity, better writing, better plot etc.)

Less love triangles please for the love of god - or at the very least love triangles where they end up in a poly relationship or you know the girl is like nah fuck this I go shit to do.

Probably More Than This by Patrick Ness - I don’t know a single person who has read it and it’s a super good sci-fi

Okay if we’re going super far back like picture book far back Pussy Willows was the best. After that probably the Totally Horse Mad series - it was a book series that I kind of got to grow with as they came out pretty much at the same time as I was in the grades that the main character, Ashleigh, was in. It’s also Australian so I got all the references to things that were happening and what not

40. Name one of your favorite books from your teenage years

Gosh I had so many what do you expect from me - not to sound super cliche but I really liked Paper Towns it gets a lot of shit because everyone is like wow John Been made Margo the classic ‘pixie-manic girl’ but the whole point of it was that Quentin made her out to be that and that she was actually nothing more than a person - plus Margo just getting up and fucking off because she didn’t want to deal with shit is relatable.

50. Why do you love to read?

I mean I couldn’t really specifically pinpoint it - idk I suppose I had a very ‘old school’ raising as in I didn’t have a playstation or xbox and I didn’t get a phone or a laptop until I was a few years into high school and I never had my own tv so apart of playing outside books were kind of the only form of entertainment I had. I suppose books also help to let you forget your current life and help put it in perspective you know.

General Life Skills. It still baffles me that this isn’t a compulsory subject from day one of secondary school, let alone not being taught at all.

Assuming we’re talking about physical gifts, it would have to be either the personalised Harry Potter letter that my best friend made for me who also played Hedwig’s theme as I opened the envelope (quite the magical moment), or it would be the envelope my dad gave to me, inside of which was the confirmation letter to my very own dog business that I’ve been dreaming about for as long as I can remember. It was made even more special as he combined my first two dogs’ names to make the business name.

I imagine it was a Freddo, back when they were the reasonable price of 5p and not the ridiculous 25p that they are now

sports! okay for those that don’t know, i’m sports anime trash and the biggest advocate for the genre lol, and i always say even if you think it won’t be your thing honestly just try one of them out bc i remember back in the day (lol) when i saw a preview for kuroko and was like wtf who makes an anime about basketball?? sounded lame af, but i decided to watch an ep just to see… which turned into me watching 50 (i’m not exaggerating) episodes in 2 days. it was a life changing experience lmao. so yes, everyone please love sports anime and feel your heart bleed w passion lol. but anyways my favs are, diamond no ace, for the love of god pls watch dna, it’s underrated among international fans, but imo - which in this case is the right opinion lmao - it is the greatest sports anime to ever. ever. fucking everrrrrr my people. so yes pls watch it, and if you do come talk to me about it  bc i could literally do a 30 page analysis on why it’s so amazing not just as a sports anime but as an anime in general (sorry this anime is just perfect to me). next is kuroko, ahhh the sports anime that sent me into a downward spiral of searching for every sports anime in existence lol. it’s so hype, and sure it can be seen at dbz the sports anime but bro it’s fucking awesome lol. yowamushi pedal, omg i have the fondest memories of screaming at my tv at the top of my lungs watching these guys cycle lmao. so goddamn intense - CADENCE!!!!!!! ahaa you’ll get it if you watch lol. one outs is like death note the sports anime lol. okay maybe not that intense but definitely super psychological, so yeah sports and psychological combined???? fucking amazing!! haikyu!! i really like haikyu bc it’s right in between the line of diamond no ace’s realism and kuroko’s absolute unrealistic fuckery. so it’s really fun and entertaining in that way! - jfc i’m a sports anime dumpster lmao

romance! again i’m trash for a good romance anime, or even a cliche romance anime. i just love watching people fall in love okay??? /sobs/ as for my recs, of course no list of romance recs is complete without nana. nana is just so… idek how to describe it. but honestly i wouldn’t suggest watching it until you’ve watched a bunch of other romance animes bc then you will appreciate it sooooo much more, when compared to like the usual everyday high school shoujos that come out (which i love, but nowhere near as much as nana). but as for those cutesy shoujos that i’d rec before watching nana, some of them are ao haru ride (i love tsundere boys okay? sue me). say i love you, which is so different from ahr bc the main guy is the opposite of a tsundere he’s just so eager to be the w mei, anddddd he just so happens to be voiced by takahiro sakurai who voices my ult anime crush miyuki kazuya from diamond no ace, so yeah def a plus lol. next rec is bokura ga ita - bokura ga fucking ita!!!!!!! sorry i get emo af when i think about this show. it had me drowning in my own tears, and so then i went and read the manga and cried even harder. it’s just… it’s just amazing and i honestly wish that they’d remake the anime and give it better quality but even as it is i cried so much bc the relationship portrayed in it is just very realistic. like they fight over legit shit and it has some adult ass themes in it. so yes, definitely rec this, it’s probably my second favorite romance anime after nana! the anime golden time is also amazing and it takes place in college and it’s just really lovely!

action / adventure! i’m always up for a good action anime w awesome characters and animation, and the show that fits that perfectly and is my ALL TIME fav anime is………….. FATE/ZERO!!! okay another anime i could do a 50 page fucking analysis on why it’s the greatest anime ever, but i’ll keep it short here lol. it’s very adult, not much comedy at all tbh, it’s just straight up plot, characters, motivations, and the best goddamn animation you’ve seen in an anime series (that is objective my friends, objective lol). pls watch it subbed though so you can have archer as your problematic fav like me lmao. also one of my fav animes ever magi! magi is sooooo good. i always want people to watch magi bc it’s everything an anime should be. usually when people think of anime they thing of these long-running animes w 400+ eps w filler arcs for days, but magi is none of that. it’s seasons have a sure story line, w each episode holding a purpose to advance that specified arc, and it’s just so fun. next is samurai champloo! omg i love this anime so much. it’s so fun, and i’m not one to like episodic series, i prefer animes w a long-running plot, but this show is just so funny and the setting and soundtrack are killer! last one for this category is gurren lagann. guys if you haven’t seen this you’re doing yourselves a disservice. it’s so over the top crazy… but it just works? like every time you think there’s no way they can top this, they do and it’s one of the most entertaining shows i’ve ever watched 

sci-fi / fantasy / supernatural! okay last category i promise lol. psycho pass!!! honestly psycho pass is one of my fav shows ever simply bc i loved the universe so much, and i thought that it was so incredibly interesting . it’s definitely a show i use to get people into anime who think anime is just kiddy cartoons, bc it’s got cool action, good characters, but it’s not the most serious anime ever, in comparison to something like fate/zero. next steins ; gate! this anime is great, fan-fucking-tastic, and it’s time travel done right, and the ending omg the ending is so satisfying. the full circle and perfection of it is amazing and you definitely should watch if u haven’t already! next after that is durarara / baccano! okay so i honestly have no idea what category to put these shows under bc they’re so unexplainable to people lol. like i have no idea how to describe these shows to people other then, they’re fucking awesome just watch and you’ll get it after you’re done lol. next isssss nagi no asukara! omg this show. i’m crying just thinking about it. the only word i can use to describe this show is atmospheric. is just makes you feel like you’re in this world with them and i cried buckets at the middle mark guys, BUCKETS :”) 

misc. okay these shows i didn’t know what to put them under so i’m just going to quickly mention them. zankyou no terror. this show seems to be very polarizing for the anime community. people either love it or hate it, i’m definitely in the camp of thinking it’s amazing. there are most certainly flaws but i can overlook it bc when i watched it for the first time it just made me feel something, like this sense of absolute misery (lmao yes it’s depressing af but a great show imo!), like i’d never be happy again bc the ending just got me that much. also the anime beck! it’s an anime about music and something about it is very… raw? idk how to explain it, it just feels very natural, and it’s a very boyish version of nana, so if you like nana i think you’ll also like beck!

14. Andrea Host - Stained Glass Monsters. Fantasy with interesting worldbuilding and absolutely boring characters. MC is Mary Sue. Uneven pacing. Boring battles. Extra boring cliche romance. I didn't care for anyone here. Do not recommend.

15. Stephen King - On Writing: A Memoir of the Craft. Surprise: I haven't read any of King's novels, only watched a couple adaptations. Horror is not my thing. But I'm always interested when writers write about writing.

16. Charles de Lint - Seven Wild Sisters. Liked it a little less than A Circle of Cats, but still it was a nice read, plus Charles Vess illustrations are amazing.

17. Robert Jackson Bennet - American Elsewhere. I loved City of Miracles, it is in my top of fantasy books. So, when I've seen newly translated book, I just grabbed it and started reading, skipping the annotation. For some reason I confused it with another Bennett's book in my to-read list - Foundryside, which is fantasy and more in my alley. American Elsewhere is... guess what? Horror/mystery. But, even if it's not my cup of tea, the story itself was interesting. So, if horror is your genre, try it.

18. William Goldman - The Princess Bride. Eh. My expectations were too high, I guess. I thought I would like it, but I didn’t like it at all. Should I watch the movie? Thoughts? 19. Naomi Wolf - The Beauty Myth. Made it in to-read list after 2 Talk Girls (my fav booktubers, look them on YouTube if you know Russian) reading diary. Classic for a reason, I only wish I’d read it 15 year earlier. 20. Christelle Dabos - A Winter’s Promise. Really good YA fantasy series, can’t wait for the 4th book. June

23. Amy Harmon - The Bird and the Sword. Not too bad for romance fantasy. I’m not against romance in fantasy, I’m in fact very much here for it, problem is that often it’s written not very good, so I’m having a hard time remembering romance plots that I really liked in fantasy books (or not only in fantasy… hmm… in fact, I like romance plots in fanfiction (carefully selected) more).

24. Kelly & Zack Weinersmith - Soonish: Ten Emerging Technologies That’ll Improve and/or Ruin Everything. This was super interesting reading. Authors not only tell about new technologies, but also at what state they are now, what problems scientists have with them, what are possible ways of fixing this problems and why this is still haven’t done, what are possible good and bad outcome of said technologies. Writing is fun and complicated things are brilliantly explained. 25. David Duhovny - Miss Subways. When I heard about this book I was like: Agent Mulder wrote an urban fantasy/magical realism book? Must read! Okay, what can I say about it. Interesting concept, I see what he’s doing with it. But still, something was off, maybe the characters - and that would be unsurprising since Cuchulain and Emer are not the most interesting mythology characters for me. July

26. Nicholas Eames - Kings of the Wyld. Ohh, I loved it so much! One of the faves of 2019, can’t recommend enough. If you like classic RPG (for instance: Icewind Dale, Baldur’s Gate) and rock music this is must read! Gonna reread it in English, must be even more fun! 27. Simon Stalenhag - The Electric State. The first graphic novel in 2019. Bought after review from another booktuber: booksaroundme. Amazing imaginary, creepy post-apocalyptic world, mysterious ending, gives some food for thoughts. 28. Kerri Maniscalco - Stalking Jack the Ripper. Well, this is very historically inaccurate, so if you’ll be able to let it slide, that this book is ok for light reading. But not the best light reading, you know. 29. Alex Alice - Casle in the Stars: The Space Race of 1869. Part 1 of steam-punk graphic novel series. Incredible watercolor illustrations. The story reminds of Jules Verne books, but if in 1869 humanity started to explore space. Like for nostalgic feelings. 30. Brandon Sanderson - Warbreaker. How does he do all that complicated worldbuilding (and so different in all of his series) has my brain exploding. Just wow. This book was good and full of plot twists even with much less action than usual, I just liked it a little bit less than previously read Elantris and 2 monstrous tomes of Stormlight Archive. And maybe it’s just me, but it seems like Sanderson likes arranged marriage trope a little too much. But overall good read. 31. Rainbow Rowell - Eleanor & Park. Hey, another good YA novel here! I thought it is some school romance, but it’s also about family problems, and this is my thing. 32. Alex Alice - Casle in the Stars: The Moon King. See above. August

34. Celeste Ng - Everything I Never Told You. I was exploding with emotions and “What are you doing people?!” while reading this small book. Highly recommend. 35. 37. Carol Dyhouse - Heartthrobs: A History of Women and Desire. Interesting read, but it only tells how female fantasies about men in pop culture changed through time, and I’d like it to be more analytic. Still, nice light reading.
