Elysium🪴💐
The last drawing for 2022 have a Happy New Year, y’all! 🌸🌼
For some of the close-ups of the illustration, the hanging carpet was based on Neo-Assyrian sample reliefs of Mesopotamia, where the story of “Aphrodite and Adonis” were inspired by the stories of Tammuz/Dumuzi and Ishtar/Inanna of the early times of Sumer. While the temple ruins laying in the background were inspired by those richly-decorated ones in Palmyra, Syria, & Baalbek, Lebanon- as I interpreted the place as an old former temple of Hades & Persephone themselves; now fallen into ruins and transformed into Persephone’s personal space.
The florals and the trees surrounding the figures were also associated with them, too -roses, myrtles & date palms for Aphrodite, Adonis, and the Graces; while Hades & Persephone were associated with roses, pomegranates, crocuses, lilies, asphodels, larkspurs, irises & daffodils. 🌹🌷
The colorful wool threads behind them were inspired by the fact that many civilizations in the past often use tons of trees/plants + rocks/minerals to create organic colors pigments to paint the sculptures/temples as well as to dye their clothes, too.

could you make a post about Proserpina(26), and it’s effect through the signs/houses?
proserpina, queen of spring and the underworld (asteroid 26)
i have not made a post about proserpina, so i won't complete a request like this without having talked about the asteroid first. proserpina and persephone are only mildly different. the likeness ends at the abduction and her mother searching for her.
trigger warning: rape
Tumblr media
Proserpina's abduction was more turbulent than Persephone's and is seen in many pieces of media: art, sculptures, Metamorphoses, etc. Proserpina was an innocent girl picking flowers and playing in the glade with Cyane in the pool of water next to her - this was normal for the girls. On a whim one day, Pluto grabbed her and carried her away. Crying and terrified Proserpina calling for her mother - her dress tore, "her flowers fell" (which might be Ovid's metaphor for her loss of innocence/virginity). She screamed for her friends and no one came. Pluto urged each of the horses pulling his chariot by name to take them away to the Underworld. Cyane spoke up when she saw this, saying that taking Proserpina would be against the will of Ceres and that he had done this all wrong - a girl was meant to be wooed and Proserpina was in tears and terrified. She could do nothing to stop him for she was stuck in her pool of water - she was forced to watch him take Proserpina. IN MY OPINION Proserpina in your chart can represent a) ruined innocent, b) rape, c) abductions, d) innocence, and/or e) feeling trapped and helpless in a situation.
Tumblr media
i encourage you to look into the aspects of proserpina along with the sign, degree, and house placement. for the more advanced astrologers, take a look at the persona chart of proserpina AND/OR add the other characters involved to see how they support or impede proserpina!
OTHER RELATED ASTEROIDS/PLANETS: PLUTO, ovidius (2800), ceres (1), and/or cyane (403).

꒰ setting up my very first official altar ! ꒱
Tumblr media
⌇ i have my worship box which stores my tarot deck, oracle cards, and crystals; my jewellery boxes in honour of venus; and then the pegasus figure and shell collection for neptune 💍🐚
⌇ in front of these, i have a dish for each deity i'm planning to work with, with a scarf beneath. from left to right, these are apollo (patron), venus, janus, neptune, and proserpina and pluto, who share a dish :)
⌇ i'm not able to use candles, and i don't have a lot of appropriate foods to offer because of severe restrictions, so i'm open to any other recommendations for things to add! i'm thinking of getting an apollo art piece . . .

*This list is NOT exhaustive. There are simply too many stories which evoke the underworld, the seasons, or any of the gods who rule over either for me to put on one list. In fact, you'd be hard-pressed to find a myth that doesn't eventually get tied back to one or the other. These are the most essential players whose key significance is tied to the chthonic cycles and themes.
Thanks for reading and I hope you found it helpful. I hope to do more quick lists like this, if others are interested, so feel free to let me know which pantheons and domains would most help.

All the depths Of earth I traverse: - where her caverns lie Darkest and nethermost I pass, and here Uprising look once more upon the Stars, And in my course I saw her! Yea, these eyes, As past the Stygian realm my waters rolled, Proserpina beheld! Still sad she seemed, And still her cheek some trace of terror wore, But all a Queen, and, in that dismal world, Greatest in place and majesty, - the wife Of that tremendous God who rules in Hell.

A little belated birthday gift for @coloricioso commemorating our gods together; the laughter-loving Aphrodite and her big-hearted Ares; and Coni’s ever-lovely Hades, and his sweet flower wife Persephone. I’m so sorry for not posting anything for a long time but ¡Feliz cumpleaños, Constanza! 💐✨🌅
Swipe more for some closeup of the illustrations and modern fashion style looks. As the illustration itself was hugely inspired from “The Four Seasons” by the Greek painter, Yannis Tsarouchis . 🌸💘

I vote we name the 10th planet (viva la fuck you Pluto!) Persephone or Proserpina. The queen of the underworld needs to reign supreme.
