hint for everyone who has real fucked up sexual/violent OCD obsessions: it feels real for everybody. yes, that real. you might have have unnerving sensations in your groin, in your fingertips, in your lips that make you feel like a set trap. you might understand the emotional logic of why somebody would like and do the things you're thinking about. in your hysteria, you might generate justifications for the act in your mind, unsure of whether you actually mean them. after however long you've been thinking about this one thing, you might feel completely numb to its horror and let your festering imagination play out beside you with no opposition. you might have thought so many bad things that you know you have crossed a line, where now, things forever cannot be undone or unknown. knowing you're horrible, you might not care.
and still, none of it is true.
in a year or three or more, you may know that the roiling mess of your brain isn't what you are, that you do not have that awful secret, and that you are never going back to believing it.

"mental health" advocates when they see someone with Z-OCD or P-OCD (suddenly they don't care about mental health anymore and just want to jump to conclusions to hurt the people they swore to help)
This also goes for psychotic people who have "scary"/"disturbing" reactions to certain things (screaming, rocking back and forth while holding their head, mumbling about seemingly "crazy" or "inane" things, defecating themselves, scratching their skin, lashing out, wetting themselves, etc.)
Everyone wants to be on the right side of history until they realize mental health advocacy includes everyone and not just the 'prettier' disorders that they oh-so-love to cherrypick and romanticize.
Everyone loves the idea of disorders being less stigmatized than they are today, but will, in the same vein, clutch their pearls when they hear a person with POCD sob about how they feel like a disgusting human being about having uncontrollable, EGO-DYSTONIC, INTRUSIVE thoughts/images about children. They will call a morally incorrect person psychotic, they will say things very reminiscent of "I'm scared that the EVIL PSYCHOTICS are able to roam freely 😰😰😰😰" with a helluva lot of padding, they will make "schizo" jokes whose whole purpose was to trigger psychotic people because it's funny.
It's disgusting how your beliefs stop at the people who's disorders don't fit into your perfect little box of what's acceptable for a fucking illness or not, as if they have any damn control over it.

I’m having a particularly bad episode of OCD today and wanted to remind everyone as well as myself.
Your intrusive thoughts and urges do not reflect who you are as a person.
Your intrusive thoughts and urges do not make you sick or evil.
Your intrusive thoughts and urges do not mean you are a despicable human being.
They do not mean any of the above, or any of the other lies your brain might conjure. (You’re twisted. You’re perverted. You deserve death. You deserve to never be happy. To always be alone. To always feel guilty. And the list goes on).
What your intrusive thoughts and urges do mean is that you’re struggling, and it’s hard, and sometimes you want to give up and disappear forever.
But your intrusive thoughts and urges do not define you. They do not have control over you, they do not have charge of your brain. They are not going to drag you under for the rest of your life, even if it feels like that right now. You will overcome this, and you will pound those stupid thoughts into the earth, no matter how long it takes.
You are not your intrusive thoughts.
Your intrusive thoughts are not you.

Just musings on my OCD and the idea of being ripped away from yourself by your brain.
All people with ocd have my love but a special shout out to my fellow queer ocd havers whose brain decided to be an obsessive fundamentalist Christian about it.

I think the worst part abt OCD intrusive thoughts treatment is the fact that to get ur intrusive thoughts to be less upsetting to you, you need to just. let them be.
which would be easier if my moral ocd didn't equate "letting [my] intrusive thoughts pass by not immediately trying to force it out of my mind" with "embracing [my] fucked up thoughts"

shoutout to people with taboo OCD thoughts who experience arousal from your taboo fears in dreams. yes, even if during the dream it feels like you "like it", since weird emotions are just another shitty ingredient of the brain soup that is your dream. your dreams do not mean anything and neither does your bodily response to them. this is not an indication of your "true feelings". i know that this can be one of the hardest things to deal with in terms of intrusive thoughts, and it can be tough not to internalize them. I hope you have a wonderful day.

Treat your intrusive thoughts like an edgelord little brother. Imagine them in the cracking voice of a 13 year old telling a dead baby joke in the back of the school bus. It makes shit so much less scary.

Note
pocd and zocd culture is being tired of seeing ppl who 'support' pwocd conflate pocd/zocd with / equate them to paraphilias and then having intrusive thoughts bc of it
like they are not the same thing !!! equating them to paraphilias is literally just triggering ppls intrusive thoughts and obsessions!!!!
hug for u anon !
and i completely agree . they are not the same thing , and i definitely get the intrusive thoughts part. it’s happened to me before
