She also hates King Dice and Anubis flirting with Lexie and Natty.

To say the least, she doesn’t like Harley given all the times he tried to sabotage May in several Pokémon Contests and competing in the Grand Festivals for the sake of trying make her miserable for petty reasons.

Out of all of the members of Team Rocket, Nalu deeply hates Cassidy and Butch.

Dawn’s rival, Ursula is also rubbed Nalu the wrong way with her smug, snobby attitude.

Expy: Nalu is pretty much similar to Ariel from Disney’s The Little Mermaid, being free spirited, curious, mildly headstrong and has a golden singing voice.

Girliness Upgrade: Until her pronouns are revealed by her Trainer, Nalu’s gender can be left ambiguous when she was a Popplio. However, when she evolved into Brionne and eventually, Primarina, she looked a lot more feminine enough to confirm her gender.

Hardcore Adorable: She might be cute but she’s tougher than she looks.

Innocent Blue Eyes: Beautiful ocean blue eyes suitable for her sweet and affable personality.

Lady of War:

Light is Good: Her colouring is very bright and she is a very sweet Pokémon.

Limit Break:

Long Hair is Feminine: Natural for a Primarina, who is purely female.

Lunacy: Also as part of a Fairy-Type, she knows the Fairy-Type move, Moonblast.

Making a Splash: She is a Water-Type after all.

Magic Music: Her voice has the power to control water. She also has the Hidden Move, Liquid Voice, which turns all sound-based moves into Water-Type Moves.

Meaningful Name: In Hawaiian, Nalu means “wave”, very fitting for a Water-Type, especially for one who hails from the Alola Region like a Primarina.

Mermaid Arc Emergence: Whenever she’s in the water, Nalu does a perfect Shout-Out to one of Ariel’s famous scenes from the Little Mermaid, performing a perfect Hair Flip with water around her. It’s pretty much played straight since Primarina is based off from mermaids.

Motherly Side Plait:

Nice Girl: She’s as sweet can be.

Pink Means Feminine: She has a small pink nose, pink starfish motifs and a bit of pink, and is very feminine.

Silk Hiding Steel: Despite her beauty, Nalu is one of Katie’s strongest Pokémon, especially when performing g her Z-Move, Oceanic Operetta.

So Beautiful, it’s a Curse: In The Cuphead Show! and Pokémon crossover AU, Nalu’s beauty unfortunately catches the unwanted attention of the Devil’s Arbok, becoming her Abhorrent Admirer.

True Blue Femininity:

Water is Womanly: A Water-Type is purely feminine as she is most especially graceful in her element.

What Beautiful Eyes!:

Windows Match the Curtains: She has long blue hair that goes well with her Innocent Blue Eyes.

LACONIC WANDERER. I learned a whole new word from you, honestly that synonym works better than saying “silent” or something, it adds a new layer of mystery. Maybe the style and spelling and vibe of the word. Ignis hehe, Latin for fire, that one sure is popular, granted I’ve only seen it used one other time, but def much nicer than other fire based English names.

Kotone, ah the Johto games always gave off a more justice vibe to me. I had to erase a whole spiel I accidentally went off on here, but it definitely captures the passion in those games. Even TR acknowledges that about the protagonist. Cute Pokémon name too!

Haruuukaaaa my 2nd fav, ugh weren’t those Pokémon Evolution episodes SO good for her and Leaf? Adventurous Darling!!! Oh she SO is, under the SEA into SPACE, the varied climate for Hoenn is BUILT for adventure. And v cute too, very lovable. Steven got roasted by his dad and Zinnia over the better newer Champ AND by Hoenn Radio, only game to have it too I think? I’m biting my lips to not launch into a rant about every girl and their region, you’re activating my Pokémon Fanatic side and this CAN get into deep meta territory if I’m not careful.

Candeloro!! Yes, Blaziken, giant candle, I can see it, very shaped. The whole loro at the end is very nickname-y, and I wonder if I feel that way bc of the nickname Toro by her manga counterpart from Pokespe.

Congrats to BW for being the only game to deliberately call the protagonist a hero of something of prophecy. Very battle-ready, good ol’ Unova where they demand active students for competitive programs but god forbid you actually fight for social change. You said every girl’s personality was different and honestly I see it, and it fits them and where they grew up perfectly. Throw them in a room together and it will be so interesting how the dynamics work. Gretchen? I had to look that one up, and it’s interesting. Even if someone didn’t know the meaning of any of these names, just the way they roll off the tongue feels like a name that matches each girl’s character. Vowels and consonants and all that.

I’m scared of this thing refreshing on me so I’ll continue in another ask.

So! Leaf was in fact the last of the girls to receive her title. I knew I wanted to use the adjective 'Laconic', but no matter where I looked, there wasn't a word to describe someone who happens to appear at the right place at the right time.

And that's kind of what she does? Leaf didn't set out to track down Team Rocket, she kept arriving at just the right moment to interfere. But Wanderer works well for her, because that's what she loves to do. Leaf travels at her own leisurely pace, that's her approach to life too. She enjoys stopping to sniff the Roselia, so to speak.

Kotone's was another one that took some time. I wanted a title that conveys her strongest quality, her compassion. She is ceaselessly gentle and kind, no matter how combative and rude Silver is towards her. Her patient attitude towards him also contrasts well with her friends' feelings. Hibiki is easily intimidated by him, and Kris thinks what the redhead needs most is a good kick to seat of the pants.

Even though Kotone is almost always shown with Chikorita as a partner, I think Typhlosion is best for this AU's incarnation of her. Kotone's Typhlosion, Eva (who is actually male), his name means 'life'. Fire doesn't have to only bring destruction. It can also bring warmth, and I feel that's something which matches Kotone's outlook. She tries to see the good in everything and everyone.

Haruka, I've always described how I see her as 'the perfect blend of tomboy and girly girl'. She can be both! She's traveled all across the region and has even gone to space, she's become the strongest trainer in Hoenn, she also collects Poké Dolls and performs onstage as a beloved Contest Star.

Similarly to Kotone more often than not being shown with Chikorita, Touko usually is given Tepig/Emboar as a partner. Without looking at who her partner is in Sisterhood, one may assume from her title that this is the case here as well.

However, a Serperior is her starter! The 'Hot-Blooded' in Touko's title pertains to her being Reshiram's Chosen instead. I think if someone were to tell her that a Fire-type suits her better, she would respond with something like,

"My partner may not have flames on the outside, but that doesn't matter! The flames of passion burn bright inside her!!"

Link's Pokémon team consists of:

Phantump - Chosen to represent Link's relationship with the Kokiri Forest and Lost Woods. Phantump was the first Pokémon Link ever caught. It staunchly refuses to evolve.

Rapidash - A little on the nose, but she represents Epona. He raised her from a Ponyta and when travelling, she is oft out of her Poké Ball allowing him to ride her.

Vaporeon - A representation of his relationship with the Zora. He didn't so much catch her as she decided to come with him. She saved him from drowning when he was small, and they have been inseparable since.

Lycanroc (Day Form) - Also a little on the nose with Hero's Shade's wolf form and Twilight Princess Link's wolf form. But also a rock type, a good Pokémon to show his relationship with the Gorons. Link caught Lycanroc when he was already fully evolved. He put up an aggressive fight, but has been loyal ever since.

Ribombee - Navi. Need I say anything else. Link raised her from a Cutiefly. She hates to be cooped up inside of her Poké Ball and spends her time flitting about Link's head.

Gallade - He reminds me of Link's friendship with the Gerudo, their scimitars, and his own skill with a blade. This was the last Pokémon to join Link's team, but he was still raised with care from Raltz to Kirlia to Gallade. He is fiercely protective of Link and the other members of his team. It's quite clear that Gallade stays in his Poké Ball willingly, because if he ever senses his team is in danger he releases himself to protect them.

Link is from the Kanto region. He earned all of the gym badges there, but since then has taken to travelling to each region. He doesn't go out of his way to battle and he hasn't taken up any more gym challenges as he prefers to encounter new Pokémon, make new friends, and see new things.

He often gives advice to young trainers when he comes across them.

Our adventure takes place in the Tajigen Region—a region with a rich and varied history spanning thousands of years, albeit one that is characterized by the emergence of the phenomenon we now refer to as Soul Bonding. According to the modern mythos, many generations ago the Pokémon Arceus blessed the first child with the ability to Soul Bond. As time went on, more and more people became able to perform this miraculous ability until it became commonplace in the majority of the population.

Soul Bonding is the process where a trainer and their Pokémon are so attuned to one another that they are able to sync up their very souls. By doing so, they are able to temporarily take on some of the traits of their Pokémon—both their physical attributes and their skills. A trainer can perform some of the incredible feats that their Poké-partner can, from Babydoll Eyes to Surf!

The story begins after a terrible battle between the former regional Champion—Toshinori Yagi—and the soul swiping All For One, forcing the champion to step down and sending All For One and his signature partner, Yveltal, to the Crypts. Where will your character stand in this exciting tale?

Gracious, what wouldn’t they talk about?

(Long hypothetical tangent after the cut lol):

I can only imagine…many of their situations would remain the same (unless there are particular AUs where thinks change drastically, which is totally valid), like the paralyzed future, Grovyle, Primal Dialga, Dusknoir (though I’ve noticed an insurgence in giving both Grovyle and Dusknoir unique backgrounds that also sometimes intersect, which is wonderful), as well as the myriad heroes that are called to their respective universes—and the endless possibilities thereof.

That would be the main difference that affects everything else around them, I think—numerous humans of all types and natures who develop different types of relationships with the likes of Grovyle, Celebi, et cetera. They’d love comparing and contrasting them, how sweet and quiet one is while another is determined and feisty.

The big thing they’d enjoy is placing bets on what Pokémon they end up turning into based on those traits. They have veritable interrogations about every last detail of each hero (including appearance, because a lot of their designs also coincide with their counterpart) in order to debate on this. Poké is placed on tallies drawn up, and the Celebi of that specific universe would reveal the truth—much to the delight of some and chagrin of others.

They talk about the partners, too. They talk about their respective Grovyles, and the individuals that comprise the ‘narrative’ that they all guard and observe. They’re never able to see past making that ultimate sacrifice, so the Celebis who’ve already survived that abstain from ‘spoiling’ everything from the younger ones. It’s a celebration for them to realize that their goals do succeed, and that they don’t have to perish in order to attain them.

You’d best believe they give each other relationship advice and talk about their love lives (where applicable), and all of them chatter on about their friends for hours. They discuss how fascinating it would be if they could somehow cause their own ‘found families’ to meet across universes, even if the improbability and destabilization of the greater universal fabric weren’t factors involved.

But, at the end of the day (or however long they spend in those slipstreams of time between multiverses), they love most getting to return home to their own special little worlds that they live in.

It can get kinda heavy but it’s such a great story.... honestly I’d been wanting to start it since I saw the first pv for the anime all the way back last year but I was like, you know it’s a mappa anime! so I wanted to watch the anime as a new thing, cause I love mappa, but three episodes in I couldn’t hold back and just binged it. That’s been my headcanon for a while now, actually!! I think for me it came from two characters in a manga I like that are a lot like a dog and a cat but have inverted fav animals and when I read about that I was like “oh, right, makes sense since they like each other” and then my brain turned it krbk because when does it not lmao

Ah man, I’m sorry but I’m not the best person to ask this to! I started this sideblog cause I had too many followers on my main and I didn’t want my stuff to be seen by that many people at first, so whatever I did probably isn’t what you’re looking for :( but really there isn’t much to it, just post whatever you like to draw, tag it as best as you can (but remember that only the first five tags appear in the search page) and be patient, since whatever you do at first you won’t get much attention anyway - the only real advice I can give is to draw something that makes you happy and that you’d draw anyway even if no one were to see it, it’ll make keep posting despite a possible lack of activity a lot easier!

He doesn’t like bothersome things, he isn’t very good at taking anything seriously or putting effort in stuff, but he’s very chill to spend time with and generally a nice chat both if you want mindless thoughts or deep conversations (he’s a philosophy major after all). shiro:

salamence: the salamence line starts with bagon, a pokemon without wings that dreams of flying and constantly flings itself off cliffs to experience the rush of being in the air. its desire to fly is so strong that it literally gains wings via a mutation when it finally evolves into its final form. salamence is said to be overjoyed by its new found ability to fly and soars through the air with glee. idk that just screamed shiro to me.

starmie: it's rumored that starmie is an extraterrestrial pokemon, and it is known to send electrical signals towards the sky that can even reach deep into space, which sort of reminded me of the lions causing weird energy readings with their transmissions as they called out to the paladins. plus i mean it just looks like a star haha.

machamp: arm wrestling champion !!!

pyroar: lion !!!!!!

ampharos: the light from ampharos' tail is so bright that it can be used (like in gen ii) as a beacon to guide ships and planes to safety on their journeys. imo shiro is like a beacon, one who lights the way and inspires hope even when the universe is engulfed in darkness and the future looks bleak.

mimikyu: this lonely pokemon hides its terrifying true form by wearing a pikachu disguise so as to not scare others away and make friends instead. i could see shiro choosing mimikyu out of a crowd of pikachu to be his partner. it reminds me of his relationship with keith, how he saw great potential in and took care of a child who everyone cast as problematic and without a promising future.

adam:

braviary: it's a powerful and extremely altruistic pokemon that puts its own safety and life on the line and battles aggressively to protect its loved ones, earning it the name "hero of the skies" like tell me this isn't adam.

lucario: a very intelligent and loyal pokemon who has a strong sense of justice. those are three traits that i think characterize adam very well. plus, the steel/fighting type combo really suits him: strong, sturdy, steadfast, at times fiery, and certainly ready to throw hands when provoked (and sometimes unprovoked, too haha).

golduck: being the patient, nurturing, and compassionate person that he is, i can absolutely see adam caring for and loving a psyduck, which is a pokemon that's constantly plagued with terrible headaches. it fits perfectly with his background as a teacher and, to an extent, symbolizes the love, care, and dedication that he poured into his relationship with shiro especially post diagnosis and leading up to kerberos.

dragonite: it's described as an intelligent and selfless pokemon that will rescue people lost at sea due to say a shipwreck (golduck will also do this). it's cute and has a kind heart but will also beat the ever living heck out of you if you harm anyone or anything it cares about, which is basically adam in a nutshell.

clefable: it's an extraterrestrial pokemon just like starmie that's believed to have come to earth from meteorites, which explains their appearances in places like mt. moon in kanto). in the au, adam ends up studying meteorites when he's older, so i think clefable's a great fit for him.

gothitelle: a) i could see adam having a goth phase, and b) gothitelle has the power to see visions of faraway stars and the future, crying once it figures out the lifespan of its trainer. seasons 7 and 8 were pranks because adam is too powerful to have perished in a plane crash, so i'm imagining a scenario where gothitelle had a vision that adam would die much sooner in, say, a spelunking accident, but he ends up miraculously surviving with the help of his pokemon. the visions then change to ones where adam lives a long and happy life, which fills gothitelle up with joy and relief instead of sadness.

shiro:

delibird: shiro found this funky little pokemon in the shoal cave near his hometown. delibird noticed when shiro first developed a crush on adam, and it decided to use present to cheekily give adam a gift as if it was from its trainer. shiro was downright mortified, and thr situation became even more embarrassing when the gift exploded in adam's face. adam was obviously pissed off (but shiro didn't that it was because adam had feelings for him, too, and thought that shiro was rudely teasing him about it). the gift giving continued, though, and adam grew to love them and the mystery that came with whatever was inside (including the one he received years later that had a ring in it). shiro and delibird have fun competitions to see who can get adam the nicest birthday present each year.

lapras: it was his mother's most treasured pokemon, and, when her health took a turn for the worse, shiro promised to cherish and take care of it for the rest of his life. whenever shiro is feeling anxious, like in the days before liftoff, lapras will sing to him, instantly calming him down. lapras remembers hearing the lullaby that shiro's mother would sing to her infant son; sometimes, it will sing a similar sounding tune, especially on days when they are both missing her.

yamper: shiro's newest friend and addition to his and adam's poké family. he first met this little fellow while on his and adam's honeymoon in the galar region. they play fetch, go on jogs (except yamper gets so excited and charged up that it zooms past shiro and ends up having to circle back when it notices that its trainer has fallen behind), and take naps on the couch on lazy days. they're stupidly cute together, and adam has only like a zillion pictures of them on his phone.

adam:

lunatone and solrock: these are the first pokemon that adam befriended as a child. he visited meteor falls numerous times alongside his mother, playing nearby while she worked. the two meteorite pokemon found him one day alone and afraid in the depths of the cave after having strayed too far from his mother's side; thankfully, they were able to guide adam back to his family. after that day, they continued to guard adam as he explored the various levels of the cave, sensing if he was ever in danger and keeping him out of trouble (no, little human, the waterfall is not a water slide please step away from there). when it was adam's time to start his new adventure as a trainer, he went to meteor falls to say goodbye to lunatone and solrock, but the two followed him out of the cave and refused to return, choosing to join this strange little human on his quest instead. they've been with him ever since and have saved his life on at least a few occasions.

minior (x3): minior might be a rare find, but adam somehow stumbles upon the locations where they have fallen down to earth from the stratosphere. he loves studying these fascinating little fellows, especially when he found out that they change forms and have different core colors. he currently has one red, one yellow, and one blue core minior (will he collect the full rainbow one day ?)

PRE-FAME.

Charlotte “Lottie” Bellamy was born in Chicago and moved to New York because of her father’s job. From a young age, she always knew what she wanted to do: sing. However, her parents couldn’t afford to support her dreams and she soon came to realize that New York was extremely competitive in that area. So, she decided to explore other passions while experiencing a normal childhood with loving parents who tried their best.

During high school, she took on multiple odd jobs from neighbours in her apartment block. Babysitting, cleaning, dog-walking, she did it all. Anything to save up money. As she performed and received a good reception, it was her first taste of what it might be like to be a singer. It encouraged her to work even harder to achieve her dream.

When she was nineteen, a music producer who was drinking in the bar the same night she was doing a set approached her. He offered his card and they set up a meeting. He had contacts and hooked her up with people who could help her. After numerous meetings, Lottie was signed to a record label. She also got a manager with a good track record who said he could make her a star. And that was how Lottie, the popstar came to be.

Over the next few years, Lottie put out music and steadily gained a following. She performed at any establishment that would have her and did interviews with any media outlet that was interested. It was all about the hustle and she was determined to get her name out there. She was an active social media presence, interacting with fans whenever she could. She cultivated an image of a popstar who seemed approachable and down-to-earth.

Meanwhile, as her fame grew, her manager pushed his ideas on her and made her churn out hit after hit. After her debut album, he arranged a North American tour and created his version of what the ‘perfect popstar’ should be. Lottie went along with this for a few years until her fanbase was even bigger. However, at age 27, she met an aspiring manager— who was a woman — that didn’t have a lot of experience and hired her in place of her previous one. Her reasoning for this was that she couldn’t take the pressure and the fame of her career was having a drastic effect on her mental health and that she needed a change. Her team wondered if it was a good idea, fearing for her future, but she was confident.

And she made the right decision because now she could focus on what she actually wanted to do as an artist and not just a popstar. She didn’t have to fit into a mold and follow trends. She could experiment and put out music she was really proud of. She didn’t have to constantly objectify herself for views and attention. She had a big enough following and could now do what she wanted without fear of losing everything. Now, she does worldwide tours, but makes time for herself and doesn’t let the pressures of the industry weigh her down.

MY HERO ACADEMIA.

A Pro Hero singer who operates from New York. She doesn’t take part in Pro Hero ranking competitions — she doesn’t see the point — and stays out of the drama as much as possible. She takes more of a grey approach than a lot of Pros and makes decisions based on her own experiences rather than what people tell her. Already an established singer, she got a Hero license after deciding she wanted to do more good in the world. While not as strong as other Pros, she gets by with her Quirk.

Her Quirk is called Twisted Reality. She can shape-shift into a creation from her own imagination as long as it isn’t a real thing that exists in reality. It’s like how children can imagine and create weird monster and mythical creatures that don’t actually exist in the real world. Her Quirk is all visual and doesn’t provide her any kind of physical advantage (unless she sprouts wings then she is able to fly) but she uses it to disturb and frighten people as well as throw Villains off guard. She is combat trained and used those skills in battle when she needs to. She can also change her hair color and style at will.

Lottie prefers to provide other Pros support rather than lead the charge. She uses her training combined with her connections from being famous to make a difference when it comes to tackling crime. She is currently 27 and living in a penthouse in New York.

POKEMON.

She is the Pokémon Champion of Voscana (the region that Rhyme City resides in.) She is 27 years old and her Pokémon team type changes depending on the day of the week. For example, Monday could be all Fire-types, Tuesday could be Fairy-type and so on. It really comes down to how she feels. She likes to match her Pokémon by changing up her look (and also because she loves fashion and trying new things.)

She believes in Pokémon rights and treats them with the respect they deserve. All of her Pokémon are kept outside their Poké Balls and are free to roam her private estate. Yes, she even has a large lake for her water types.

She’s also a singer and performs huge concerts whenever she can. She does meet and greets, often spending hours chatting with fans, which sometimes pisses off her security guard. She often travels the world but always makes sure to be back in the region whenever there’s a potential challenger for her.

A bit of a party girl, Lottie can be found at fancy nightclubs or run-down dive bars. She doesn’t think of herself as being above anyone just because of her fame and status. At times, she wishes she could just escape it all for a bit. Maybe one day, she’ll find a guy to settle down with and go live on a nice beach somewhere.

Fandom Advent Calendar: Day 2

Prompt: snow, or lack thereof

You better believe I’m gonna write Pokémon AU if I get a prompt about snow. Sinnoh is my fave region and it’s just snow for days there. There’s no ships, and there’s a lot of plot that just hasn’t been written yet but at this point would have already happened but. We’ll fix that later. 

(Also it’s like 1:30 am on december 3rd shhhhh it’s okay I haven’t gone to sleep yet so it doesn’t count as tomorrow).

Lance had never seen a real snowstorm until he got to Unova. Hoenn just didn’t get snow in general, never mind a full-blown blizzard. His first December in Floccesy Town ushered in a real winter wonderland, in his eyes. Everything was covered in white, fluffy stuff, and the other kids in the town would go out and make snowmen and have snowball fights. It was amazing, and he did miss it a little bit when he went back to Hoenn to start his career as a coordinator.

Now, standing waist-deep in the stuff, he realized that he had never seen a real winter before.

Sinnoh was a far cry from anything he had seen before, in many ways. The most prominent was that it was downright frigid. Everywhere he had been was dusted with snow, even though they were barely into October. He was glad he’d brought his winter gear with him, but he’d been sorely unprepared mentally for just how cold this place was. 

“Is this safe?” he called out over the wind. It wasn’t snowing yet, which meant that it was still safe for them to be travelling to Snowpoint City on foot, but the wind was starting to pick up. Snowdrifts were dangerous things, according to Shiro and Pidge, who assured the group that they had both lived here plenty long enough to know how to navigate this route. 

Hunk and Keith had agreed with Lance, at least, that it was too dang cold here. “Stay on the road and you won’t walk into a snowbank every few feet, Lance!” Pidge called out over her shoulder. She was bundled up in a huge, bright green parka, with matching hat, boots, and mittens. She certainly wasn’t going to go missing in all this white stuff.

“How do you know where the road is? Everything is buried under two feet of snow!” Hunk complained. He’d invested in the fluffiest, brightest yellow coat that he could find the second he’d gotten to Floaroma Town, but he was still shivering pretty badly. 

“It’s only a few inches, Hunk.” Shiro sounded like he was trying to hide his exasperation with the trainers from the more tropical regions. “Snowpoint’s not that far away. Just don’t wander off and you’ll be fine.” If only it were that simple.

Snowpoint City was surrounded by dense forest on most sides, except for the little port that routinely ran ferries to the Battle Frontier. It helped keep the worst of the weather out of the city. They were so close to getting there and holing up in the Pokémon Center for the rest of the night (no matter what Pidge and Shiro said about being in a hurry). Just a little bit further, and they would be warm again.

Lance was just thinking that they were going to make it without running into anymore of those weird robots when he caught sight of the purple-ish grey sentries that they had been encountering all over the region. 

“What are they doing all the way out here?” Keith grumbled. “Can we just go around and get to some place that’s above freezing?”

“Not if you want to get to Snowpoint. This is the only road,” Pidge sighed. “I mean, we know how to get rid of them. We might as well…” She had already grabbed a Poké Ball from her pocket. 

“Hold on,” Shiro cautioned them all. “They’re not… just drones. There’s someone else over there.”

Sure enough, there was a figure standing among the sentries, wrapped up in a violet coat and ordering the sentries around just audibly enough for Lance to hear him, though he couldn’t tell what was being said. All Lance could make out in terms of identifying features was purple hair in the same shade as the drones, styled like Dracula. 

“I mean, how badly do we really need to go to Snowpoint City? We could just go back to that nice little inn back there and maybe they’ll be gone in the morning,” Hunk suggested.

“No way, we have to get there tonight.” Pidge let her Magneton out, and aside from a little mechanical whir, it was fairly quiet. All it took was a nod from Pidge to get it to zip over to the sentries, unleashing a blast of electricity that caused the robots to lock up before collapsing into the snow. The person overseeing them turned around and found the group almost instantly.

“Just what I need, a bunch of children disrupting my work…” That registered loud and clear. “You must be the brats that Sendak reported.”

“I take offense to that,” Lance grumbled, grabbing his Milotic’s Poké Ball from his belt. Everyone else looked ready for a battle too. At least they had numbers on their side.

“How cute,” the man controlling the sentries mused as they all approached. “Unfortunately, I don’t have the time to deal with children trying to play heroes today.” Before anyone could so much as call out their Pokémon, there was a flash of white light, and a chilling cry rang out through the area. As badly as the wind had been blowing before, it was like daggers on any inch of skin Lance had exposed now. The snow was being whipped up to the point that they couldn’t tell if it was the snow on the ground or a freak snowstorm. 

By the time the snow cleared, the clearing was empty, save for a single, ice-encrusted rock and some grass poking out of the snow. There weren’t even any footprints left in the snow. “Where did he go?” Keith ran ahead of the group, only to stop when there was clearly no trace of the man left.

“He’s gone, so let’s just get to Snowpoint City and check out this temple,” Pidge groaned.

“But the robots are gone too!” Hunk pointed out. “That snowstorm lasted all of a minute. There’s no way he got all of those robots picked up that quickly.”

“We aren’t going to find him tonight,” Shiro reasoned. “We might as well get into town and find a place to stay, and we can see if anything turns up tomorrow.” He was being a little more dismissive than Lance expected of him, but he couldn’t deny that he was exhausted, and cold, and a warm bed sounded infinitely better than trudging through the snow on a wild goose chase at this obscene hour of the night. 

Okay, it was, like, 9 pm, but Lance should have been in bed returning the feeling to his toes right about now, regardless.
