I finally bought the Sword & Shield DLC (yes yes, say nothing) and one of the side tasks is to find 150 Alolan Diglets that this one guy brought back with him.

Mate, how did you lose 150 Diglets?

Why do you even have that many?

The entire Alolan Diglet population is probably in tatters because of this one trainer.

(And yes, I say this with the upmost hypocrisy as someone who has caught over 260 Pikachu in Let's Go Pikachu alone. God knows how many I've caught in Scarlet and God knows how many in total including Pokemon Go.)

It's my Birthday!

March 19th and im a year closer to meeting Arceus lucky me! So here is some of my Pokémon simps headcannons as to how they would celebrate your birthday. (I was going to do my top 5 simps but they are all from different things so I'm gonna leave those to myself) There will be no Scarlett and violet characters. They will be in they're own post (There's a lot I like)

Adaman’s number one rule is that every moment counts. So when it comes to planning your birthday, he makes sure every second he spends planning results in the perfect outcome.

He would make sure to remember all of your favourite things to do and put as many as he can in one day without overdoing it. Adaman was always good at planning. Execution was the problem.

Headstrong and passionate don’t tend to go well together, so no matter how many hours he spends detailing everything. Planning around possible problems; as always something is bound to go wrong.

Surprise bandit attack; Alpha attack; Something happens in the Demand clan; Irida

Will that stop him from making this day all about you? Arceus no! He’s just gonna try harder to make you happy. Even if you're already beaming with the royal treatment he is giving you. Adaman won’t stop until the sun is gone, and he’s carrying you back home.

I would try and pinpoint 1 specific thing he’d do, but Adaman would do basically anything you wanted. Your wish was his command, whatever you wanted to do - he would do. Want to go on a catching spree? Sure. Want to walk along the coastal beach, when do we leave? Want to scale the cobalt mountains to reach the temple of Sinnoh? He’s already racing you up there.

You could drag him to the Alabaster Iceland's and he would follow you like a Fidough. It’s your day and he is going to make damn sure you feel like royalty by the end.

Lysandre is a busy man. Being the leader of Team flare and running his company and keeping his goal of beauty running smoothly. Time is not something he has! But for his darling's birthday, that's time he is happy to put aside.

He wouldn’t be particularly flashy about what he does for your birthday. He is a gentleman aftercall! Not psychotic at all he's fine i swear. Don’t expect Tengen Uzui level flashy. Lysandre is much more laid back than that. He won’t show you off to the world if you aren't comfortable with it.

His personal life is something he likes to keep behind closed doors, so for your birthday, the most public he would get is taking you out around Lumios, weather that be a shopping spree, a nice conversation at a quiet café. Dinner at a nice restaurant would be a must however. He still wants you to feel special so he will spoil you rotten with gifts. Dudes got the money to burn. 

I can see Lysandre planning something beforehand to keep the paparazzi distracted. Like calling in a favour with a friend high up and having them stage something on the other side of the city so you two can be together in peace.

Once you two get home, he will spend the night with you watching any movie or show you want. Reading with you, just talking with you. Anything you want so long as he can see that beautiful smile of yours. 

Lysandre will go to bed with you but… It's a 50/50 shot if he will still be in bed when you wake up. If he is there, lucky you! If he isn’t there, expect an apology note written quite detailed and a nice breakfast with a simple apology gift next to it.

Battle dates. This man will take you to every single gym tournament and battle he can just to watch your excited face when something awesome happens. Seeing his treasure smile makes him all bubbly and giddy.

But don’t worry, he isn't just going to drag you around Galar showing you fight after fight. He isn’t that stupid. Raihan would definitely take you flying on Flygon so you can see the beauty of Galar from his view. Though his view won’t be on the land below.

For once, he will not mention Leon’s name once! I didn’t know that was possible but here we are. Today is about you, so Leon is flicked temporarily out of Raihan's mind and into the naughty corner.

Photo’s everywhere. Anywhere you two go, he will either stop to take a selfie with you or tell you to go pose somewhere so he can capture the moment. Defiantly will ask you before posting the photo though. Sometimes though he will sneak a photo of you when he thinks you like breath-taking. Something to keep to himself. And don't even think about saying you look bad in one of them, because he will then take a million more to prove you wrong. That or smother you in kisses so you won't say it again.

Raihan will be like Lysander when it comes to gifts. This man will SPOIL YOU! Anything you want, you’d have to grab him by the hood to stop him taking the crowd of people down with him. 

He would 1000% be down for a movie marathon as well if you would rather stay inside. He will have a fort built, snacks at the ready and every movie ready.

Bless his soul, he has no idea what to do. Leon would want to take you somewhere really nice he found during his travels, if only he could remember which direction it was in. Then he thought about a nice restaurant you had mentioned wanting to try. Which city was that in again? Perhaps he could take you out to the beach, where was that again?

He would leave it at. “I’ll follow you.” So just drag him around with you and he will gladly follow you and do what you wanna do. Just nothing reckless, he won’t do anything that could get you hurt. Unlike Raihan he would avoid battle arenas. 

I feel like Leon would 100% be down for a gaming day, he’d let you take him to any game store and buy every game you wanted and just play all of them. Card, board, video all of them. Single player or multiplayer he will be right there cheering you on or giving you competitive gals with a smile.

If you're up for it, Leon would ask if Hop could join you two for a little while, not long as Leon does want to spend the day with you, but Hop sees you as a family too.

Dude cannot read. So do not ask him to read anything, he can’t tell the difference between Your and You’re. But if you like reading out loud, he will have his head in your lap listening to you read if that will make you happy. 

Leon would try and make you the best cake he can! We know this man can decorate very well, the baking half is a hit or miss, definitely would have gotten help from an unknown alias. His mom.

Forest date. This woman would give you the royal treatment. Lysander got nothing on this Queen! She will take you anywhere you want for the day. But if you ask her to pick what you do or… a surprise!? She takes that as a challenge. You will most likely wind up on a secluded part of a meadow surrounded by nature.

Tranquil and beautiful, a place for just the two of you to spend time with one another. No champion duties, paparazzi, endless questions of your relationship. Just Her and you. 

Cynthia’s Roserade would make it subtly rain rose petals around the area to add to her love for you. If it’s raining, she has a plan for that too. No rain is going to ruin your special day! Hope you like dancing in the rain because she is already dragging you out to the flower meadows to dance with you hand in hand.

You can guarantee she has a picnic somewhere hidden, Where you will never know that. But this woman has come PREPARED! She’s prepared for everything, and your birthday is no exception.  She has everything, from your favourite snacks, drinks, everything. Even the blanket is your favourite colour. Cynthia even bought a pillow with her that you could sit on so you wouldn’t be uncomfortable if you wanted it.

Like Raihan her Pokémon would be involved. But instead of flying, she would use her Pokémon to put on a show for you. The rose petals from Roserade being just an example. Her Garchomp would show you a fireworks show when night arrived, along with the help of Togekiss.

She won’t spoil you with gifts. Instead she will have one thing she made for you herself. It won’t be very big, but it will show you the love she has for you. Whatever she made you, expect it to be incredibly meaningful.

Cynthia had to get her skills somewhere and this is where. Volo does everything Cynthia does but somehow even more extra. 

If Cynthia gives you the royal treatment, he is giving you the Deity treatment. Man has Giratina at his call, he can literally give you anything! And he will use it to his advantage at every chance he gets. He will use his craftsman skills to make you a bracelet with all of the stones on as a mark of your journey together. If you want him to make another so you can match, oh look he already did! What are the chances?

This man will take you EVERYWHERE! Even places you have never been to before on the back of Giratina, he will show you the world most don’t get to see. The world he will build for you. But he won’t spoil that surprise.

He would definitely make you food, he travels a lot so cooking is a must know skill. So your birthday with him isn't a day, it's a whole week. And every time he makes you something it is completely different. Volo is taking zero shortcuts on this adventure. He may have a Deity on his team, his Deity is sat Infront of him admiring the stars.

Speaking of Stars. Stargazing is a must on every clear night you two get. He would lay his jacket down for you to lay on and look up at the sky together.

Volo would make sure to stop around different areas and tell you about the history there, watching your expression carefully to see the enthusiasm and curiosity on it which just makes him want to try harder to get that smile to stay there. 

He will also use his trade skills to get you something that caught your eye from wherever he took you. Volo may have money but he will use his skills where he can. Giratina isn’t the only benefit he has. Dude is a travelling merchant after all. He has more knowledge than everyone combined. Expect him to show you off however. He loves you more than anything, and wants the world to know that.

Something just occurred to me, back during Gen8 speculation, when we hadn't seen Eternatus yet, but knew it existed, I was hoping that Leon would have been our main villain, that he would be a fraud that awakened it to fight for clout when he was exposed. (And still think it would have fit better with the sports theme than Rose's weird "energy crisis in a millennium" thing.) And even during early Gen7 speculation back before anything had been revealed about Alola, recall theorizing with a friend about potentially getting a villainous champion in SM.

Well, it's been hinted that Kieran will be the champion of the BB Academy League, and it's likely that he will be a potential threat in the next storyline due to his grudge against the player, I don't think beating him as the champion will fix anything between us. And while I don't think he'd do anything too extreme on his own, I still feel it's possible that he could be manipulated by an outside force, like be it Briar convincing him to help her awaken Terapagos, or if the possession theory is true.

They're killing two birds with one stone over a few things in the games I've wanted for years between the rival who potentially turns into an antagonist out of resentment towards us, and a villainous champion:

hc: Raihan travelled the world as a kid on his journey, even challenging Galar's League the same year Leon would become Champion. Thus sparking their rivalry, because Raihan already had experience under his belt but Leon is a fresh trainer and kicking Raihan's ass into next Tuesday

During Raihan's travels, he went Unova and briefly attended Blueberry Academy to improve his skills as a trainer. Hence why his gym type is dragon, but him and his gym trainers are all weather teams

Raihan probably goes back there during the Galar League's off season to train, because the Terrarium has varying weather all over, which is ideal for training. As well as Unova's varying routes and locations also having varying weather of their own

I haven't posted in a while, but here's my Pokemon OC Horatia. She had an old design, but after replaying Violet, I decided to redesign her

But here's a little bit more about her now and in the future:

"Horatia is a mischievous and spirited Pokémon with a fiery personality. She possesses a playful and adventurous nature, always seeking new opportunities for excitement and fun. Horatia has a quick wit and a mischievous streak, making her a natural prankster among her peers. She enjoys pulling harmless pranks on her friends and classmates, bringing laughter and lightheartedness to the academy.

Despite her mischievous tendencies, Horatia has a kind heart and cares deeply for her friends. She is known for her loyalty and willingness to lend a helping hand when needed. Horatia's playful nature also translates into her battling style, where she incorporates unexpected tactics and clever strategies to outwit her opponents.

Horatia's crush on Arven, another student at Uva Academy, adds an extra layer to her personality. When around Arven, she becomes a bit more reserved, trying to impress him with her pranks or witty comebacks. Horatia may feel a bit nervous and giddy in his presence, but she never lets her crush get in the way of her friendships or her mischievous nature.

Horatia has a huge crush on Arven, another student at Uva Academy, adds an extra layer to her personality. But sometimes, she cares a lot about him, and she is there if he needs someone.

Years into the future, a part of Horatia wants her to study on the mysterious Pokemon Terapagos, which was found in the depths of Area Zero (beyond the Zero Lab) and whom she caught when she travelled down there with Carmine, Kieran and Briar. She wants to study how it brought a living Turo from the past and into the future.

She very much admires Briar, Heath, and Turo (before his demise). But she vows to mostly carry on with his work (minus the time machine) and spending time with her friends/family (and not living in Area Zero for a very long time).

She often reads Heath's Violet Book (sometimes the original manuscript from Briar), her cousin's (Sonia) "Galar: A History", and Briar's "The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero" most of the time. But she has many questions about the Violet Book, like:

• Who was the person Heath talked to in an unfamiliar place before writing something down that he doesn't recognise? Was it Turo nearby Terapagos? Or was it me with Terapagos? I am unsure, for certain

• Like with what Arven said, how did Heath meet the Paradox Pokemon before the invention of the Time Machine? Did Terapagos bring them to Heath's time, or did Terapagos send Heath into the future?

• What is the odd stone plate meant to be? And what does it mean?

• What are those four circles in a cave on the ground? Does it symbolize something?

• The Herba Mystica has very interesting and amazing healing properties. But what cause the Pokemon to eat them when they were planted? Were they on the brink of death or ill, like Arven's Mabosstiff? Or did they look too indulging that they turned large and strong?

• Since I got Turo's book from meeting him, did the events of the Time Machine change? Or did Turo have two copies of the same book with the same name clumsily written inside it?

• What does the future look like? And is the AI professor alright? (I'm not going to jump into the Time Machine and find out, thank you)

• Now there's a question I need answered. After finishing the Time Machine with the AI version of himself and successfully getting the Miraidon I currently have, why did Turo take it to the lab? And why couldn't he leave the AI Turo to sort things back in Area Zero? This actually confuses me

She's not going to go the same way as Turo. She just feels that there's so many questions that are left unanswered in Area Zero

Apart from all the questions, she marries Arven and has a daughter who goes by the name Melissa

She is related to Galar's Professor Sonia and Magnolia

Applin, Flapple, Appletun, Dipplin, & Hydrapple

Applin (#840)

Malusvermis wyrm

General Information: Applin are one of the tiniest dragon-type Pokémon in the world, who make their homes inside the core of an apple! To be clear, the wyrm inside (get it, wyrm/worm?) is the actual dragon, not the apple.

Applins weigh in at an average of 1.1 pounds (0.5 kg) and a height of 8 inches (0.2 M), so… they’re the size of an apple! Makes sense.

Shiny Change: The official shiny coloration of Applin and its evolutions has a green apple instead of a red one, while the Pokémon itself remains exactly the same color. This is being changed to the following: an Applin can have any color apple, but the actual wrym of a shiny Applin and family are white instead of green.

Habitat: Applins are originally endemic to Kazakhstan, where apple trees originate from, but spread throughout the temperate climate world by humans as they spread apple trees across the globe. Because of this, Applins have managed to naturalize to many places, basically anywhere that grows apples.

Life Cycles: Applins are laid in clutches of 45-65 at the beginning of each summer, and then hatch in time for the first apples to ripen and fall from trees. When the Applins hatch they will immediately seek out an apple to burrow into and exist in. The bodily fluids that it secretes keep the apple from rotting, but should they need a new one, they will simply burrow into a fresh apple.

The individual qualities of their host apple determine whether it evolves into a Flapple or an Appletun. In theory, the apple acts as a home, a source of nutrients, and camouflage for the Applin inside, but most Pokémon have grown wise to their camouflage, or don’t give a damn. In fact, around 1/3 of any given clutch will survive the first 10 days of life, since tons of predators will snack on Applins, especially birds and frugivores like Noibat and Noivern.

Typically, Applins will evolve once they have eaten enough food, which occurs before winter. In a clutch of 50, maybe 7 will make it to Evolution. Barring Everstones, Applins usually take around 2-3 months to Evolve.

Note: Applins are unable to reproduce in this universe. They are being treated as a larval stage because of the life stage’s extreme emphasis on consumption. If you want to breed your Applin, you must Evolve it.  

Behavior: Applins are shy and skittish by nature, but voracious eaters. They are relatively harmless though, and in captivity they warm up to humans quickly—especially anyone who feeds them apples! As herd creatures, Applins get along well with other Pokémon in captivity.

Diet: In addition to the apple that they exist inside, Applins eat even more apples for nutrition. That’s it. They eat apples and just apples. If they do not have apples to eat, they will starve to death. There is no two-ways around this and no Pokémon food available that will fix this, they are obligate applevores. Feed your Applin some apples, please. An average Applin will eat around an apple a day in the first month, then two apples a day until Evolution.  

Conservation: Least Concern

Relationship with Humans: Applins are one of the most popular starter Pokémon in the world, alongside Eevee, due to their easy care, adorableness, their excellent temperaments, their safety, their variable Evolutions, the ease of breeding them, and the fact that they’re tiny little dragons. Amongst Applin trainers, it’s a common custom to name their Applin after a breed of apple—of which there are literally thousands, so there’s plenty to choose from.

The Applin family is one of two all-dragon lines that can be successfully bred in captivity, the other being Noibat. While other programs exist for dragon breeding, they have been met with little success so far. Applins and Noibats are the only dragon-types that make regular appearances in the starter pool.

As for their relationship with farmers, Applins garner mixed feelings. Some farmers, especially in endemic places like Kazakhstan, see them as cute critters that eventually grow up to defend the very apple orchards that they once predated upon, and the farmers have noticed the peculiar effect that apple orchards with a healthy Applin, Appletun, and Flapple herd tend to do better and produce healthier and more delicious apples. In contrast, in other parts of the world, particularly the United States, many farmers see Applins as nuisances and an unavoidable vermin on their crop. These orchards tend to fair worse against other pestilences.

In some parts of Europe, it is seen as a romantic gesture to gift someone an Applin.

Classification: Malusvermis wyrm means “Apple worm/wyrm.”

Flapple (#841)

Malusvermis drakomilos

General Information: Flapple are one of the evolved forms of Applin. It Evolves from Applin when its around 2-3 months old and has eaten enough food to satiate itself. The evolution into Flapple is determined by its pre-evolution’s host apple: if it lived inside of a tart/sour apple, it becomes a Flapple. They can hide inside their armor and look like an apple.

Flapples weigh in at a whopping 2.2 pounds (1 kg) and 1 feet tall. It has a Gigantamax form that it shares with Appletun, reaching over 78 feet tall (24 M).

Habitat: It has an identical habitat to Applin. They live in apple orchards, often seen hanging in the branches.

Life Cycles: Flapples reach reproductive maturity upon evolving, but they do not participate in courtship until the winter has passed. When the first flowers bloom is when Flapples seek out mates, and they lay their eggs in late Spring or early Summer. The males perform elaborate courtship dances to impress prospective mates.  

Flapples are food for many predators, including Snorlaxes, Pinsirs, Ariadoses, and Talonflames. Once Flapples have survived their first winter (and many die during this period), they will almost certainly make it through many more winters to come now that they have all year to stock up on energy reserves. In captivity they have a lifespan of two decades.

Behavior: In the herd, Flapples tend to take on the role of protector because of their flight abilities. They spit acid from the cheeks, and their protective apple layer is used as armor against threats. When their apple armor is damaged, they excrete a fluid that repairs it, but this discolors the armor and turns the spots into a clay color. Flapple who have seen many battles have clay-colored armor.

Diet: Apples. They will also eat pears, peaches, other fruit, and bugs. Now that they are no longer an Applin, Flapples may consume other things, such as Pokémon food available from the local grocery store, but truly the absolute best diet you can give them is just to keep feeding them apples and maybe some other similar types of fruit.

In the wild, Flapples survive the winter by hibernating off and on and subsisting off of energy reserves they acquired as a ravenous Applin. During periods of awakeness, Flapples may consume whatever vegetation it can get its paws on, and have poor diets of leaves, cones (this includes junipers), and conifer needles/leaves—sometimes they even steal from bird feeders. Please understand that these diets are sub-optimal and are winter-only, and come Spring Flapples are incredibly weak and will eat whatever vegetation or bugs are available to them.

Conservation: Least Concern

Relationship with Humans: Flapples are notoriously excellent orchard guardians who will vigorously defend their apple orchard and their herd from predators. They are also seen on the teams of a lot of trainers worldwide, which makes sense given that they’re starter Pokémon for many folks.

A popular toyline of medieval knights features toy soldiers in Flapple-inspired armor, and many children’s books about knights tend to include a Flapple in the mix of knightly Pokémon.

Classification: Malusvermis drakomilo means “Apple Worm Dragon Apple.”

Appletun (#842)

Malusvermis dulcos

General Information: Appletuns are one of the evolved forms of Applin. They evolve from Applins when they’re around 2-3 months old, and only when the host apple is a sweet apple. They reach the incredible size of 1’4 feet tall (0.4 M) and 28.7 pounds (13 kg).

It has a Gigantamax form that it shares with Flapple, reaching over 78 feet tall (24 M).

Habitat: Appletuns live in apple orchards or near wild apple trees. They are originally endemic to Kazakhstan.

Life Cycles: Appletun become reproductively mature upon evolution, but do not partake in courtship until the spring. When Spring does come, their courtship ritual is to find flowers and gift them to their prospective mate.

Appletun are predated upon by many things, including Growlithes, Herdiers, Noiverns, Rockruffs, Talonflames, Sevipers, and much more. The nectar they secrete attracts insects, which the Appletun will sometimes eat, and in a pinch they can release a sticky more acidic nectar against unsuspecting foes. The same attraction to bugs also encourages the successful pollination of the apple trees and the survival of the trees’ pollinators.

Once they survive their first winter, Appletuns are generally able to survive many more winters to come. In captivity they have a lifespan of two decades.

Behavior: Appletuns are generally docile creatures that watch over the Applins in their orchard with deep parental instincts, though this only does so much good for keeping predators away since there are so many Applins and quite a lot of predators. They also tend to keep an eye on a tree’s health by investigating the apples that fall to the ground and eating the ones that seem even the slightest bit sickly. This both functions to ensure the Applins get healthier and more delicious apples, it feeds the Appletun, and it minimizes the spread of disease.

Diet: They eat mostly apples, but will eat other fruits and bugs. During winter they hibernate, but during periods of awakeness they will subsist on any vegetation or bugs they can find, such as cones, leaves, grubs, and conifer needles. Trainers can feed their Appletun Pokémon Food from the market, but really if you can, please feed them apples.

Conservation: Least Concern

Relationship with Humans: Humans have been fans of Appletuns for as long as humans have been around them. Appletuns are great, they make excellent food sources to hunters, they are amicable companions, they’re cute, they’re relatively harmless to humans, they only need apples and bugs to live, they eat flies and maggots, the skin on their back is delicious and grows back and its consumption doesn’t seem to bother the Appletun, and they’re great with children. Kazakh farmers like them because they’re known for tending to the apple trees and ensuring healthy, more bountiful harvests each year, and they’re sister-species, Flapples, are excellent defenders against actual vermin. Because of this, Appletuns are heavily associated with the rise of agricultural societies. They can be found in bakeries the world over as loving companions, kindergartens helping to manage the rowdy kids, and in many households.

An Appletun is the mascot to a popular bakery brand, Appletun Cakes & Pies, who sell pre-made pies and cake mix boxes that can be found at most supermarket chains.

On Tuesdays with Turtwig, the titular Turtwig has an Appletun friend who runs the local bakery, whom Turtwig visits every episode so that kids can get lessons in baking science.

Classification: Malusvermis dulcos, which means “Apple Worm Candy-Dragon.” The species epithet “dulcos” is a combination of “dulcis” (candy) and “dracos” (dragon).

Dipplin (#1011)

General Information: Dipplin the Candy Apple Pokémon and one of the evolved forms of Applin. This is a rarer evolution of Applin, only available in regions that have candy or “syrup” apples. It is composed of two wyrms, the “fore-wyrm” (the head) and the “core-wyrm” (the tail). The wyrms are able to secrete a syrup that coats the apple and can be used to attack.

Habitat: While Applins are indigenous to Kazakhstan, apple trees in general can be found all over the world, and thus so can the Applins that Dipplins evolve from. However, Dipplins first began to appear in the regions of the world that coat apples with layers of syrup or caramel, namely Japan and the United States. Of course, they could potentially be found anywhere that serves these tasty treats. Dipplins are not found naturally in the wild and only prop up in human environments.

Life Cycles: Dipplins become reproductively mature upon evolution, but do not partake in courtship until the Spring. When the first flowers bloom, that is when they mate, when they will battle each other in sparring competitions using the horns on their heads. The eggs are then laid in the early summer or late spring, and will be ready to hatch into Applins in time for the apple season.

Note: the clones of a Dipplin cannot reproduce with each other, for the reproduction magic considers them the same entity.

Behavior: Once they evolve from an Applin and their being splits into two copies of itself, the newly-evolved Dipplin is able to solve complex tasks together with its two heads. Unfortunately, they lack the mobility of their other evolutions, and instead must rely on rolling to get where they need to go, or pushing themselves with the core-wyrm’s tail. They hold their own against predators with that long spear-like horn of theirs. When threatened, the Dipplin will release sticky syrup, which is used to engulf opponents, hinder them, or captivate them.  

Diet: They eat mostly apples but will eat other fruits and bugs.

Conservation: Least Concern

Relationship with Humans: Dipplins are overwhelmingly only found in captivity, since candy apples aren’t found in the wild. Because of this, they are rarely seen in orchards, and instead tend to be associated heavily with candy shops and festivals. Many candy apples even try to stylize themselves after Dipplins, for the kids to get a giggle.

Classification: The species epithet of Dipplin is “sucrose” in reference to it being made of a candy apple.

Evolution: Dipplin evolve from Applin when an Applin evolves inside of a syrup apple (or candy apple). For unknown reasons, the evolution process triggers multiplication the same as in other Pokémon with multiple individuals. This means that the two wyrms inside an Applin are completely identical both magically and genetically, including their shininess (this is actually how people first figured out that they were clones of each other). This also means that they will have the same memories up to the point of evolution.

Hydrapple (#1019)

General Information: Hydrapple is the evolved form of Dipplin. It is a multi-individual species composed of seven “syrpents” (get it?) that are all clones of each other. The dominant syrpent is the long “head” that is always out and on guard, two syrpents form the powerful tails and seldom if ever reveal their heads, and the other four syrpents are the extra heads that emerge at-will from the apple. The apple that they used is now entirely made of syrup, and Evolution has caused the “apple” to expand in order to accommodate the seven syrpents inside it.

Hydrapple is about 5’11 feet (1.8 M) tall and 205 pounds (93 kg). It is the only Pokémon capable of learning Fickle Beam.

Habitat: Hydrapples are near-exclusively found under human care, or at least originate from them, since they can only evolve from a Dipplin. Unlike their pre-evolution, Hydrapples may actually be found at orchards now and again, as the terrifying hydra that guards the apple orchard from would-be predators.

Life Cycles: Hydrapples can live for about two or three decades, which is potentially several years longer than Flapples and Appletuns. Their additional strength lends them to being favored in the courtship process, but not so much that the others of their family won’t mate with anyone else.

Diet: They eat mostly apples but will eat other fruits and bugs, too. They have the strongest preference for bugs of all the Applin evolutions.

Conservation: Least Concern

Relationship with Humans: Hydrapples are seen as fickle Pokémon that can never seem to agree on anything. Each syrpent must be fed its own preference of meal and will each have their own needs and wants, but as long as a trainer is willing to humor them, they can be an excellent companion.

In children’s media, the hydra of old is often replaced with a Hydrapple for the cutesiness of them, and in Library Litleos the story of Hercules and the Hydra is explicitly portrayed by a fanciful version of a Hydrapple. As such, Hydrapples in play often take on the role of “the evil dragon” and they seem happy to play along with the kids.

They are one of the third-stage dragon types that are readily available to the masses.  

Classification: Hydrapple’s species epithet is “hydrakos” which is simply “hydra” and “drakos” combined.

Evolution: A Dipplin can only evolve into Hydrapple by learning Dragon Cheer. Upon Evolution, the two wyrms multiply again into the seven syrpents. The memories of each syrpent up until Evolution is dependent on which wyrm it was cloned from, which is part of the individualization process that leads to the seven clones having different temperaments and personalities.

(being real I mean no shade to people who prefer Isle of Armour- i’m genuinely curious as to why that’d be the case- I just greatly prefer Teal Mask myself and so far that seems to be the common opinion from my pov. might make a ramble post about it later idk)

Did You Know

That the Galarian birds are based on the Morrigan. A trio of(or just one) goddesse(s) of war, fate and death.

Moltres- Badb who's known for taking the form of a crow(hence the black color). She strikes fear and confusion in battle, and foreshadows death prior to battle(could explain Moltres aura wearing down people's spirit). She's also compared to banshees cause of her wail she does when announcing a notable person's death(why it's cackling in the art)

Zapdos- Macha is a sovereignty goddess(meaning she's associated with a location) and represents war and stuff like land, fertility, and horses(hence why Zapdos is now a fighting type running bird, with a competitive nature). She's also described as Raven of the raids in some myths were she's Nemed's wife. In some legends her full name is Macha Mong Ruad, which means red hair(possibly why Zapdos is now orange

Articuno- Nemain is the goddess of the frenzied havoc of war. In one epic Tain Bo Cuailnge Nemain gathered armies to attack them(could explain why it uses it's psychic powers to freeze opponents before attacking, and it's callous nature). Nemain also shares a lot of similarities with Badb(harbingers of doom, same husband). This could explain Articuno psychic type as it references Badb ability to fortell death and confuse opponents.

The Morrigan was also said to be one war goddess with the ability to transform into animals to aid in battle(most notable one being a crow), and represents goddesses role as guardians of land(also probably why they migrate to and fight over the Dynamax tree)

In fact the mysterious nature on if the Galarian birds are regional variants or not could be based on the Morrigan's many myth with contradicting details as stated, but not limited to: Nemain not being the concrete third goddess(some sources say it's a goddess named Anand or Fea), or Macha's many husbands

But the possible reason why their regional variants believed to not actually be regional forms could be because the Morrigan are also named as sisters of a trio of land goddesses under different names being: Eriu, Banba, and Fodla. Despite both being trio of goddesses their connections state their separate

This also explains their typings, as the Kantonian birds are contextualized as the land goddesses given their elemental types. Whereas the Galarian birds types represents (the) Morrigan('s) behaviors in battle. With them being flying type birds symbolizing their connections/similarities despite being recognized as different groups

Also if anyone wants to know the pronunciation of the goddesses names from what I gathered it's Bive, Mock-Ah, Ney-Von

If I had nickel for every time a DLC had a story line with someone from Penny/Peony’s family, and people getting possessed by Pokemon. I’d have two nickels, it’s not a lot but it’s weird it happened twice.
