The scene that got the most visceral reaction out of me was when Grace was being taunted by her husband and the threat of them going after her daughter and she turned so rabid she bit Smoke's hand before screaming for the vampires to come inside because she wanted to kill them all so badly she wasn't thinking straight anymore because in that whole scene I completely understood her. I imagined myself in her position and I felt her rage and despair and grief and I thought to myself "I would be no better" because I'd be boiling in my anger too

No but I saw a comment saying Corlys doesn't even grieve for Rhaenys that long like he does in the book and I'm sorry but WHAT?!

We have Corlys actively mourning her still, in Episode 08. The guy has restructured his life and legacy and outlook into HONOURING her. Is he perfect? No, he's categorically a dumbass, this is not news. But he's also fundamentally and consistently changed after he loses his wife. He wouldn't do so if she meant nothing. If she was gone from his mind.

And it is the memory of his wife that he now looks to for strength and guidance. It is his motivation. He literally says so. He looks sad as hell whenever he's on his own, he has built a statue of her, he pauses at the Painted Table where she last stood before he takes his place as Hand. Everyone knows (literally everyone) that him even continuing in this war is a big deal and that he's doing it FOR her. Bloke named his ship after her, he is holding onto her with a white-knuckled grip.

She's EVERYWHERE for him.

Just because he's not... what? Openly weeping in front of the Black Council? Indulging in isolating and destructive habits? Screaming at people? Does that mean he isn't bereft? Grieving? Mourning? Because he can get up and do his job, he's forgotten her? Lost all those feelings? He's stopped grieving her?

It would also be severely out of character for Corlys to publicize his grief. To present as anything other than what he needs to be within a context that gives him authority: as a leader, a lord, a captain, Hand.

And his relationship with Rhaenys was not only sacrosanct but PRIVATE. His grief is as well. He cries on his own because he is on his own. No one else sees that.

Corlys has not stopped grieving. It's not constant, but it never is with grief because life goes on. It has to, in this case, with the war. But he's very much still mourning and missing her.

i unapologetically, unironically love crush. like it tries so hard to be anti-spuffy but david fury was a FOOL to think that the line "I'm drowning in you, Summers" wasn't going to irreparably alter my brain chemistry. that Spike almost falling over himself to open a door for Buffy wasn't going to make me positively unhinged.

literally the only thing i don't like about this episode is fury patronising the audience with his ham-handed, puritanical Hunchback analogy.
