welcome one and all to my apparent attempt at killing my writer’s block. 

hi, I’m nagi (@miss-naginata), whom like five people total may know as naginata_gay_edition on the Archive of Our Own. simply put, polydokis has been on my mind recently. I haven’t had much energy for actual, proper writing even as the blorbos embed themselves into each ridge and crevice of my brain, and my solution appears to be this. I hope you have fun.

This polycule consists of all four girls plus a transfem MC. in here you’ll be seeing little dialogue bits, maybe a ficlet or two, and some occasional lore dumps extracted fresh from my friends’ DMs after I yap at them for long enough.

There will not be any NSFW content. I might get very mildly suggestive if I’m ever ballsy enough, but please don’t count on that or demand that from me. Feel free to send asks but also please treat me like a little glass doll if you do that ty /lh

General Stuff

This AU takes place a good few years after the Literature Club happened (with some major alterations on that). In a sense, this whole thing is basically an alternate timeline to a fic I own - Of Wounds That Mend - and which I have not yet finished at all. Does this count as spoilers? I really hope not.

Everyone is in their twenties, are working jobs (except for one) and are all living an overall pretty normal life. They all have their complexes, occasional issues, but they love each other very much mwah mwah mwah

Monika

Monika works as an analytical chemist and part time girlfriend of five. Work is something that can be stressful (nevermind the work it took to get there), but her occupation is the one which brings the most income and she finds comfort in the fact that she’s dependable. She can be emotionally stunted and is prone to overworking, which has produced a kind of “girl who should be taken care of” title from her lovers. She learns to accept this and becomes all too willing to dive into someone’s arms the moment she gets home. At times she feels some guilt for accepting so much love and care, and it takes much elbow grease for her to realize she does deserve this, not for being the primary breadwinner, but because she’s loved and that’s all there is to it.

Sayori

Sayori is unemployed and, thanks to her self worth issues, feels very guilty for this, often attempting to “compensate” by doing work around the house (to Natsuki’s dismay, she really wants to help with cooking). She has the issue of being somewhat of a people pleaser, which takes some time to iron out as she accepts that she, too, is deserving of things she wants and needs. She’s treated as the oracle of love and affection in the polycule, not because everyone is bad at it in comparison, but because she has an Energy™ that draws everyone in for cuddles and head-scritches.

Natsuki

Natsuki works in a coffee shop with one of her girlfriends. She can be blunt and sassy and has a deep-knit urge to subvert her own feelings, but she’s very intimate and loving when given space. She once possessed a passion for writing that she eventually let go of throughout the years; this was soon reignited by two of her lovers’ shared enjoyment of the art. She enjoys getting into teasing fights with her girlfriends and play-wrestling with some (which, more often than not, ends in a ferocious make-out).

Yuri

Yuri is a trans woman who works entirely at home. She owns a literature critique YouTube channel with a microcelebrity following, but most of her income comes from her part-time job as a writer – every few months when a publisher wants her to work on a book. It is commonly hellish, but she, allegedly, does not regret turning her hobby into a career. Single copies of her books are in her bedroom, and they all have little notes from her lovers, ranging from “I’m so proud of you, love” to “missing hyphen.” She has a habit of being overly meek with her girlfriends, which is spawned from her reluctance to be forward with cisgender women due to internalized dysphoria and from the fact that she is the most recent addition to the polycule – in fact, the only one they didn’t meet in high school. It is, to them, very fun to fluster her and attempt to crack her shell.

Mabel

Mabel is also a trans woman. As implied before, she works a job at a coffee shop with one of her girlfriends, Natsuki. Unlike Yuri, she has not made a career out of writing, but she does do it recreationally. She once was extremely afraid of affection, but after years of prodding from her lovers she has grown to be very mushy with her fellow girls. She and Sayori have a strong bond that the rest of the polycule sometimes admires, sometimes feels jealous of, spawned from the sheer amount of time they’ve known each other for (almost their entire lives), and this is not helped by Sayori’s insistence on making jokes about having dibs on Mabel – and further not helped by Mabel’s insistence on being flustered by this behaviour.

*Mabel is a character originating from one of my fics and I have secretly spent the last few months being unhinged about her.

Because of the contents of some of the fics/discussions in the segment, I am asking minors to not interact. If anyone is interested in the SFW/non 18+ fics I was sent, feel free to shoot me an ask or something. Otherwise, for the respect (and safety) of the authors I included, skip this post. Summary/Overview: In total, I received 49 fics for this final (absolutely wild! /pos) and ended up including 8 of them as part of the final product. Said final product is a fake radio segment with a speaker created for the sake of discussing these fics in a fun way. The audio form of the segment will be attached on this post along with a downloadable version of the transcript (Note: I will also be reblogging with a text version of the transcript very soon).

I managed to get through 30 of the 49 submitted before finalizing things for submission, but! I still plan on reading through the remaining submissions and scoring them on their cards/sheets (which I will make a second post about soon).

As previously mentioned, the focus on my project was dissecting the portrayal of queer masculinity as it appears in fanfiction. Majority of the final is me gushing over the fics with commentary woven in between, so I hope it's enjoyable for anyone who chooses to read and/or listen to it. Once again, thank you so so so much to anyone who submitted a fic, wrote any of the fics, or has supported me throughout the creation process at any point. You are amazing.

deep sigh. the problem with friends is that they will encourage you to do horrible, horrible, things (/lh /aff) anyway yeah i have two smut fics posted. possibly another one on the way but who can say for sure (<- i have an Idea but i may not have time for it). as for what kind.. whatever my enablerrrr friends encourage

i helped louie out with a margaret birthday fic, but beyond that it's mostly been coming up with AUs with other people rather than actually writing out fics

what's your all-time favorite ship?

i usually just say outlaw queen (regina x robin hood from ouat) for this one. they did irreversible damage to my psyche when i was a teenager. as for current favorite ships though, i'd say lucygin and any combination of kunichuuranzai excluding s.kk alone

what's a WIP you want to finish but don't think you ever will?

i don't like declaring that i'll never finish a wip if i genuinely like it but i do have several longfic ideas that i probably just won't ever get around to even starting. mostly atla fics (azula-centric tuvml sequal, emma au,,) but there are probably some others from other fandoms as well that are escaping my mind at the moment

what are your writing strengths?

what are your writing weaknesses?

not liking the popular ships and fanon characterizations. <- JOKING. IM JOKING. in all actuality it's probably the fact that i have way too many ideas and get distracted before i can finish (or start) and then if i'm rushing to finish something i end up putting in less effort than i'd like and it doesn't turn out as well as i'd hoped.

what are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic?

do whatever you want forever, as long as you're being respectful about it

what's a fandom/ship you haven't written for yet but want to?

i have like 100 bsd ships i want to write for and haven't yet. it's a problem. this is why all of my ships are rarepairs - because im not focusing on just one ship to churn out 1000 bad fics for--- ahem anyway. i'd love to write nikoran and tanitachihigulucygin polycule especially. i also want to write mizisua at some point but i don't have any ideas at the moment

Pancake polycule

They find Jaiden unconscious at the new spawn and bring her to Bagi's home and put her in a small extra room. The women and their child all worriedly talking a bit away from the room, asking the questions anoungst themselves 'how did she get her? When? Where has she been?' but they made a mistake you see. They dont know shes claustrophobic, and waking by yourself in a completely unfamiliar place, a small and confining unfamiliar place, with the last memory being in purgatory. Well they all run the moment they hear the loud screech of a very destressed bird. Flinging the door open to see her squished into a corner, talons out ready for a fight, feathers standing on end, wings curled around her protectively, eyes wide with a feral level of panic.

Bagi flicking the lights on, receiving another screech, slowly approaching Jaiden. Her breath picking up more, her mind too panicked to recognize who or what is approaching just 'DangerDangerDAnGer' taking a swipe at them.

Bagi yelps, sucking in a sharp breath at the sting of claws cutting her hand, she pulls the now injured hand to her chest, crouching to Jaiden's level and speaking calmly to her. Slowly getting closer as her words seem to sink into Jaiden.

Blinking the fog of panic away to see Bagi so close to her, with a worried look on ger face. Glancing down to see the blood drip through her clenched hand. Trying to apologize, trying to ask wtf is happening, but the words wont leave ger throat they feel trapped. But she manges an apologetic trill. Feeling the eind knock out of her as Bagi pulls her into a tight hug, murmurs of 'youre alive, youre safe its okay'. She trills again

also consider if we follow your logic that she just came from Purgatory. all that is on her mind is death and trying to protect the eggs. in my mind she wouldnt hurt Em if she tried to approach her but anyone adult sized would get scratched at, simply out of pure fear

there's actually a lot of reasons that i wont really get into here but! tl;dr i was going through a really tough time when i first got into a hat in time and i kind of fixated on him through a majority of that time which caused me to enjoy him so much, and him just kind of existing helped pull me out of that rut as cheesy and silly as it sounds?

it wasn't out of me relating to him per-se? although i do see myself in *some* parts of his character (like his hotheadedness and him holding grudges and stuff), i just think he's neat, and how he acts towards his grandkids in the SLD DLC really sold my feelings towards him, especially from him actively searching for them during the time the ship crashed, which kinda served as a "see! he does care!" moment for me i suppose?

but, i mean??? even regardless of that- he's a scottish owl who has a really cool design thats voiced by the joker AND smash ultimate guy, why wouldnt i like him? why wouldnt YOU like him? this is now connie propaganda go show him love!

anyway i guess my simple enjoyment for him developed into a mini fictional crush for some time because hes been part of the polycule for awhile despite me not even realizing im gay until. recently /hj

though fyi! hes not actually my only favorite character in ahit, HOWEVER he is my #1 fave which is why i draw and post him a bunch hehe, hope this helps!!!

I think Sun could really help them learn some coping mechanisms though. Introducing new fun hobbies and things to do when they need to step away.

Eclipse, however, is making sure these idiots are standing up for themselves more. While Sun and Solar are capable of it, they should be expressing their negative emotions more. Eclipse doesn't have much else to lose. Most 6 animatronics already hate em, and those who don't tend to are very aware of how eclipse is.

And goddammit Eclipse deserves tenderness and understanding, and patience. I just need him to be regarded with respect. I also don't think Solar is allowing Eclipse to push him around when Eclipse is having those moments.

I have more thoughts, but I also just find this polycule wildly funny. They'd absolutely get on each other's nerves, but that's ok!

I'm fucking rotting thinking about solar/sun/eclipse. And it's my brother's fault.

Early Morning Visit

Early mornings at I.R.I.S. were usually quiet. Most of the experiments or tests wouldn't start until after 10, so Orion took the quiet time to organize the medical supplies in their office. They spend abput half an hour taking the supplies out of the cabinets and writing down everything they were out of before there was a quiet knock on the door.

"It's open." Orion called over their shoulder, putting their various disinfectants back into the cabinet.

The door creaked open and Bab peaked their head into the room "Heyyy, Orion? Could you help me with something?"

The tone of Babs voice made Orion groan, already knowing they must've gotten into some shit "What is it this time?" They groaned as they turned to face them. Only then did Orion notice the blood that was pooling on the floor.

"There might have been a.. incident with one of the ALTRs." Bab held up their arm to show Orion the nasty wound they received, which was hastily wrapped in what was left of their sleeve.

"Jesus Christ." Orion quickly ushered Bab into the room and onto the examination table.

"You're a mess." Orion muttered as they wrapped Babs wound in bandages. "You'll need a new lab coat again."

"I know, I've got an extra." Bab iedly kicked their legs back and forth as they let Orion work "Thank you for helping me."

"I'm a doctor, it's my job."

"I just want you to know I appreciate it."

"Appreciate that I don't have to give you a 7th rabies shot." Orion teased.

They pulled away from Bab to put the bandages back into the first aid kit, but before they could get too far, Bab held their hand.

Orion stopped in their tracks before looking back at the professor. Bab smiled at them sweetly "Thank you again, Doctor." They kissed the back of Orions hand before letting go of them and walking out of their office.

Orion was left stunned with a face as red as the blood left on their office floor.

Once the ot3 gets together, Hestia is gonna be disappointed- not because of Akio being no longer available (maybe? Depends on their specific type of polycule), but because Cherrie, someone she basically swore to watch and has befriended, is dating the guy that Hestia saw go through his Nagito/heated gamer moment arc within about ten minutes. Like Cherrie sweetheart, you have like almost your choice from anyone in the class and you chose him?! At least she’s keeping him and Norman out of trouble ig

at this point in time, hestia has left her heart with someone else back at home, and that confrontation in the dining hall made her distrust akio even more. her sense of duty towards keeping her classmates safe and preference for having only one partner would contribute to her being an active supporter of the ot3 kjdfgjkfg.

the amount of time I spend imagining little domestic scenes with them as a polycule (tho eddie’s in there too, mostly cos they give me Scooby doo gang vibes and u can’t convince me those mf weren’t in a polycule pfft/lh)

Like imagine Nancy coming home late in the evening from her fancy job (giving Louise Lane vibes ya know), calling out to the house she’s home, and then robin zooming into the hallway to ask her about her day give her a hug and a kiss. Nancy asks about robin’s day - prepare for a very dramatic x2 speed retelling pfft. Then Steve comes round the corner, swiftly followed by Eddie. Steve gives nance a peck on the lips as Robin finishes up her recap, and then they’re all imminently wrapped up by eddie ambushing them with a group hug. Eddie pouts and asks “where his kiss is/lh” (nacy and him are platonic but cuddle buddies ya know? Good friends :-) Also eddie is a fiend for affection pfft) so he gets a kiss on the cheek as nacy laughs. v cute moment is disturbed however by eddie sniffing the air and asking if something’s burning. With only an exclamation of “oh fuck!” Steve is flinging away limbs and dashing to the kitchen, sliding on his socks a bit as he goes. Laughter again breaks out as Steve goes to save dinner while hollaring at eddie and Robin go ‘please set the god damn table’ cos they maaaay have forgot to actually do it the first time he asked. Robin links arms with eddie and Nancy and the three set off to get the plates and cutlery.

I admit to not being super into Steve and Eddie as a pair.

But I love the idea of a polycule with Robin, Nancy, and Steve. Where Nancy is with Robin and with Steve.

I just really think Vickie isn’t a good match for Robin. they’re too much alike. But Nancy balances her out nicely. And Robin and Steve are already bestest best friends, so I think it would be a really good dynamic.
