So I love how we have all unanimously agreed that when PolySci gets together Jayce is his clueless self and maybe worried about having to choose between Victor and Mel meanwhile they’re both in agreement that they’ll be dating each other (or QPF) and Jayce at the same time. It’s so lovely.

I found out about two weeks ago that I have to write a capstone paper next year for my International Affairs major, and I’m having such a hard time choosing a topic bc researching literally any international affairs topic means having to come across some of the most rancid political takes known to mankind.

Counterpoint: Instead of making it a national holiday, we keep kids in school that day (if it’s during the week) to learn about the moon landing and space exploration! Museums open up their doors to classes and offer incentives for businesses to send employees to engage in the history and latest science regarding space! Towns make proclamations, restaurants make themed meals or stores have special evening hours to see the moon, etc.
Instead of changing laws, let’s change society!
Hey. Why isn’t the moon landing a national holiday in the US. Isn’t that fucked up? Does anyone else think that’s absurd?
#at my school if we had another federal holiday they’d take away another religious holiday and the Hindu Muslim and Jewish kids are already#left out in the cold because of a non response biased survey and misinterpretation of the Establishment Clause#this post is signed by the future polysci major who was raised expected to become a stem major#what happened? I was more interested in the implementation of science than its creation#plus better at it

i’ve come to the conclusion that the amount of avoidance and escapism i’ve been engaging in since the election is in fact alarming and unhealthy
#some implications hit me for the first time today and i think that my brain is just shelving information in the amnesia section to not#dwell on it#which is very on brand but bad for my ego as a polysci/ir scholar

Agree with everything EXCEPT:
You can't vote third party until Republicans are defeated.
They'll just push their plans to make the country go back to the dark ages up to 2029 and so on. For all we know, not much will change in between now and then. With any hope, good change will happen and then we can worry about other countries.
Most of the Republican party is pushing Project 2025, a truly horrifying and disgusting plan to, among other things, strip people with uteruses of their hard-earned rights (even more than they already have. They're coming for birth control next) and destroy the government from the inside-out. They want to destroy the Department of Justice. They want to get rid of the FBI. They want to get rid of the Department of Education. They want to destroy everything that gets in their way of making the rich straight white christian male the superior citizens once again because they think they're being discriminated against when a person does something they don't agree with (get an abortion, utilize birth control, get a vaccine, get married to someone of the same sex) when in reality they're brainwashed and disregard the principles of their own religion: "Love your neighbor as yourself." They need psychological help but they definitely don't believe in that either since they want to pray mass shootings away.
Destroying the country because you couldn't stomach voting for the lesser of two evils truly shows how privileged some of the population is. You'd rather split the vote and give the (significantly) worse candidate (Trump) a better chance (third party candidates rarely win and there have only been three "third party" presidents in U.S. history, namely George Washington, John Tyler, and Andrew Johnson) at winning because the vote was split for a candidate who has no chance of winning a single state. If you think about it too hard, by voting third party, you vote for Trump. If you don't vote, you vote for Trump (Republicans are the party of voter suppression).
I'm exhausted. My anxiety has spiked since early June because of November. I'm terrified for my friends and family and myself. I'll have to get out of the US if Trump wins because they want to ban medication I rely on to live a better life. They don't like that I can vote. They don't like that I can have a credit card. They don't like that I can own property. They don't like that I have a college degree. They don't like that I graduated high school. They don't like that I don't want to get married and have kids. They don't like that I, a person with a uterus, can do things besides have twelve children and rot in a kitchen.
Please please please look into Project 2025. It is a dystopian nightmare that will destroy us and if we're destroyed, we can't do a damn thing for Palestine. If you don't have time to look at what is the modern equivalent of "Mein Kampf," I recommend Last Week Tonight's piece on it. It is titled "Trump's Second Term," but it DOES explain Project 2025. It's condensed, but it is still informative and says all you need to know about the Republican plan to turn Democracy into an Autocracy.
Look.
I have made you a chart. A very simple chart.
People say "You have to draw the line somewhere, and Biden has crossed it-" and my response is "Trump has crossed way more lines than Biden".
These categories are based off of actual policy enacted by both of these men while they were in office.
If the ONLY LINE YOU CARE ABOUT is line 12, you have an incredible amount of privilege, AND YOU DO NOT CARE ABOUT PALESTINIANS. You obviously have nothing to fear from a Trump presidency, and you do not give a fuck if a ceasefire actually occurs. You are obviously fine if your queer, disabled, and marginalized loved ones are hurt. You clearly don't care about the status of American democracy, which Trump has openly stated he plans to destroy on day 1 he is in office.

Legacies & History
Our paths change according to what works best for the general good. My awareness of the (My own) lineage which affects world destiny the most has expanded through the years. I’ve transcended the use of objects, places and even ‘people’ to dwell in a space where mere talent and knowledge work to create more than average ways of living.
I feel that’s where we are right now. Mediocrity is not desirable for most who’ve lived in this Nation for hundreds of years.
These are the people who developed the standard that’s become so desirable to so many - a model that certainly can be applied to other Countries to extend the beauty of what was formed here.
I think all Nations have some form of gift to give dependent upon the ways in which that way of life has been beneficial within the confines of each culture. The United States are unique in that this culture is comprised of a wealth of diversity, and is in no way singular in it’s makeup. Though many of the founders were Anglo, French and of other European descent - even then this Nation was not singular in cultural makeup.
There’s a strong, and very sad belief that North and South America are the same, when in reality South America is quite homogeneous culturally, the opposite of it’s Northern counterpart.
In future, as society continues to improve, I imagine that this will be the way for generations to come, and that the temporary upheaval We’ve all experienced here will pass by like particles floating atop the flow of the river.

Water Bath

A water bath is a laboratory equipment used in scientific research and various industrial applications. In biological research, water baths are often used to incubate samples at specific temperatures to promote growth or biochemical reactions, such as culturing bacteria or amplifying DNA through polymerase chain reaction (PCR).The temperature range of water baths can vary depending on the model and application, but they commonly range from room temperature to around 99°C (210°F).
