“food delivery drivers are so rude to restaurant employees!”
are they tho?
are they actually rude or are they just neurodivergent working one of the only jobs that doesn’t actively punish them for their support needs?
are they actually rude or are they just showing you the screen with all the information you need to know instead of going back and forth trying to give you that information verbally, only for you to mishear the name for the order and ask them to show you the screen anyway?
are they actually rude or do they just not know the specific protocol for picking up an order at your specific restaurant because they vary so wildly from restaurant to restaurant?
are they actually rude or are you making them the press the button that confirms that they have the order in hand before they actually have the order in hand or have even seen the order?
are they actually rude or are they reasonably upset that you just made their pay go below minimum wage by making them wait 20 minutes for you to take 5 seconds to hand them an order they can clearly see with their own eyes is already ready?
are they actually more rude to restaurant employees than restaurant employees are to them? because in my experience restaurant employees often treat us with extreme suspicion, act like we’re beneath them, and often make decisions that we are on the line for

Hey doordash drivers, hey instacart drivers, hey any voluntary delivery driver for an app, I have some news for you. Disabled people who cannot get their groceries on their own very rarely have extra money to tip, especially with all the extra fees and delivery charges they need to pay to just eat. They will tip you if they can, they literally cannot sometimes and that isn't their fault. They still deserve their groceries. They still deserve their food. They still deserve help. If you're voluntarily driving for an app when you can easily get another job and you're complaining about the people who literally cannot get a job, or go outside, or drive, or see needing to get their food no matter how little they have, you should think about who really needs this more. They have no other option when they don't have help. They have no other option when they can't do it themselves. If you're voluntarily doing this job, and blaming the people giving you the orders that you already get paid for anyway, just because they literally do not have the money does not mean they aren't deserving. That they're doing it on purpose. That they're taking advantage of you. That they're doing it maliciously. You need to understand some people have no other option even if you do. Be more considerate. You have no idea what people are going through mentally, physically, financially, medically. Everyone deserves food. Everyone deserves help. Everyone deserves comfort. Even if they can't spend another 5/6 dollars of their limited disability funds. Sometimes it's not about you. Sometimes people aren't after you. Sometimes people aren't trying to hurt you, but trying to survive themselves.

Does anyone familiar with courier apps know why there seems to be no rhyme or reason to the order grocery items are picked? Because like, if it was me.....I would not get the eggs and ice cream first when it's going to be at least an hour before it reaches my door

For real, like y’all should know that some people have been stating lately that when they see someone completely different knowing their address and handling their food, they’ve decided to start reporting
Especially some women have been doing it when they expect a woman at their door and a man comes from the car by himself
Don’t let that man get your account suspended sis, it’s not worth your money
Also some women have also complained about Lyft and Uber being a man when the pic is a woman as well, which it’s very scary if you see a man or a completely different person instead

I had someone try to do this to me today. I got a fairly high-paying order for just a single can of cat food. As soon as I accepted it, I got a call that caller ID identified as “[DeliveryCompanyRedacted] Order”, but when I picked up the call, the person on the other end claimed they were with support and told me not to pick up the order because the customer put in the wrong address and wanted to cancel, then started asking me for personal information about my account.
They didn’t even manage to get through the whole spiel explaining why they needed that information because I was so annoyed that a) they were calling me when I was trying to do my job rather than just handling it on their end & b) I could barely hear half of what they were saying that I just hung up. I didn’t even think “oh, this might be a phishing scam” until after I talked to actual support through their chat line.
I verified that the order was not in fact being canceled and proceeded with the order. When I was checking out with the order, I hadn’t even mentioned any of this when the cashier told me it was weird that another delivery driver had just come through with the exact same order from the exact same company right before me, and that’s when the suspicion that the call had been part of a scam solidified into “oh yeah this is 100% part of a scam”.
So yeah, PSA! Just be aware if you drive delivery for any of these third-party delivery services, this is a scam that’s going around. Don’t click any links, don’t give out personal information or anything ljnked to your account to customers or support. Support will not ask you for account login or bank information. Stay safe!

@ripedward said: “I don’t care that it’s 2:00 am, we need pie.”

"'Need' is a powerful word, Wardo." Cherry drummed her fingers against her lips and made an exaggerated show of humming in thought. "I mean, I can make it happen. I'm a baking wizard. A bizard. Blizzard. Buzzard. You get it." She wasn't yet sober enough to boast that she could bake blindfolded, though it sounded like a fun idea.
"But it's like, 'what's in it for me,' huh? 'What does Cherry get out of this?' Besides...pie." This time, she reached out to drum her fingers against Eddie's lips. "Don't really strike me as a bakery boy. You got the pie maker equipment? 'Cause you can't do it without the equipment. You can't." She giggled, imagining the mess she would make of the kitchen. "I have the pie tools, but I don't think...yeah, I can't drive right now." For a moment, Cherry looked genuinely apologetic, or else perhaps sad for her own circumstances.
"Any pizza joints open this late? 'Cause pizza's a bastard pie, and they bring it to us. And if we tip 'em extra nice, maybe they can even bring us a pie...a pie-pie plus the pizza pie." She let the thought linger, then slowly brought her knees to her chest. Her head rested on top. "Got one of those Little Debbie Creme Pies in my bag, but it's not the same. It's not the same."
