LUMI AND THE GREAT BIG GENERAL GUIDE

Because LATGBG is niche enough to where it hasn’t blown up yet, I figured I’d go ahead some ground rules! I hope this guide is able to help with the dos and don’ts when it comes to my personal comfort as Lumi’s communitu to grow.

Fanart is A-OK, in fact, I would love to see it! Because my notifications have been blowing up so much, I may miss it— so please be sure to tag me!

Original characters are a big YES! You are free to make original characters and do with them what you wish. The galaxy is huge, after all— this includes making original species or expanding on the current species. You are also free to connect them to the main characters, if you wish!

Shipping/self shipping is fair game. I do not mind it, but Lumi is not a show where there is any intention of shipping in mind. Have fun, but do not bully others! I don’t care how many times I have to go and scold others myself, I will not tolerate it. Be kind!

Headcanons are A-OK! I consider the galaxy and characters to be one big playground, so if there is a certain idea you may have that aligns with any of the characters, please feel free to express it and headcanon to your heart’s delight. Again, do not bully others for their ideas or headcanons, though I will not confirm if they are canon or not!

Cosplays are A-OK! Again, I would love to see them, so please tag me so I can see them!

You are free to use the work from the pilot as icons, headers, etc etc! This also includes art I’ve done of the Lumi cast and characters, as long as you link back to the original source!

Making fan made merch for yourself is A-OK, but as I do not know the inner workings of making fan merch, I ask you do not sell Lumi merch when it comes to making things such as t-shirts, hoodies and plushies, etc to sell as I will consider it to be unauthorized— especially if you’re a company such as Hot Topic (though I doubt it’d ever get to that point!). I am not a large creator, and would prefer if merch is handled by myself for the time being. Things such as gaming skins (like Roblox for example) and other things of the like are OK as long as they are not sold and distributed for free.

As I cannot control what the internet as a whole does, I ask that if any erotic content is made regarding this, that it is tagged separately, properly and is not placed in the main tag. I will not be looking into this tag; nor will I be making one for you. Any erotic art that is made featuring these characters is not condoned by me and I flat out do not encourage it— but I also harbor no delusions that this will stop anyone. it is very important to me that dean and cas were NOT sleeping together during gamble and carver eras. S4-5 crazy new chemistry i dont know you/ i’m in awe of you/ i’m terrified of you/ i hate you/i wonder why i want to spend time with you so badly backseat handjobs yes! then 6-10 it’s crickets. no sexual contact whatsoever (which doesn’t mean there’s no pining or attraction.) there’s just too much going on, one problem to solve after another, the new butterflies have been replaced by solid friendship and they never see each other enough. they don’t talk about it, they wonder if the other even remembers. maybe. maybe! there is a kiss or two in s11 but that’s it!!! then BAM! season 12. Immediately domestic boyfriendhusbands keeping a normal sex schedule of several times a week. it’s so routine it’s not exciting which is exciting in and of itself. and they even have sides of the bed.

Natlan Brazilian dishes

This one is Acarajé/Akara, an Afro-Brazilian dish made using ingredients such as beans, shrimp and onions.

Acarajé is sacred to the Candomblé/Yoruba religions, people offer them as a ritual to Orixás, such as Xangô and Iansã. People from these religions believe that Acarajé has the power to strengthen the spirit and body.

Acarajé was brought to Brazil by African slaves during colonization, and they can now be found in the state of Bahia, in the Northeast of Brazil.

They're sold by women who are usually called as "Baiana do Acarajé". Both the Baianas and Acarajé are considered to be strong cultural material of Bahia, the capital of the state, Salvador, is known as one of the cities with the largest amount of black people in Brazil.

This one is a brigadeiro, a very traditional Brazilian sweet that you can find anywhere in the country, it's made using chocolate, butter and condensed milk, you cook it in the stove and then after some time roll them into some small chocolate balls.

Brigadeiro was originally made for a election campaign for Eduardo Gomes, a Brazilian soldier with the military title of "Brigadeiro". A group of women from São Paulo selled these small treats to gather money and also votes for Eduardo Gomes. It was originally called as "docinho do brigadeiro" but it got so popular that it's only called brigadeiro now.

Xilonen who's a character with Brazilian references has her signature dish as a chocolate using the brigadeiro recipe, but it doesn't look like brigadeiros. Still, it's worth mentioning.

This is a pamonha, it's a dish made using corn, there's a salty version made using salt fillings with meat and cheese, and a sweet version using milk, sugar and cinnamon. Pamonha is a food with indigenous origins, and because of that, some other countries in Latin America have similar types of the same dish but with different ways of preparing it. The name Pamonha comes from "pa'muñã", a word from the indigenous language Tupi.

I'm not that sure about this one, but from the ingredients used to cook it, some Brazilians believe it's supposed to be a mungunzá.

Mungunzá is a sweet made using corn, milk, sugar and cinnamon and the recipe to cook the "Fascinating soup" are very similar, still if it really is the same thing, I don't understand how genshin made Mungunzá turn into a potion of some sort...

This is how a Mungunzá looks like, it's also called different ways in Brazil, some people call it Canjica but Canjica in the Northeast is comething entirely different so I'll stick to the name Mungunzá instead.

Charles representation enjoyed here again! I’ve not read much of the comics bc I can’t afford them but I just rewatched FC and I was wondering if Charles being paralyzed is the same in the comics (Erik doing it)? Do they often include that part of his story?

hello my inquisitive friend :] !!!! im more than happy to give some more info bout the origins charles' disability in the comics- to the best of my abilities that is !

while they don't include an origin for his paralysis in EVERY story/run, as far as i know there are three major ways charles loses his mobility (though like yourself, i havent read many of the comics so far, so i could be missing a few. this is the part where i invite readers to submit additional info if im leaving any out)

the very first manner of charles losing his legs was relayed to us in the original X-Men run of the 60's in issue #20

(X-Men #20: "I, Lucifer!")

before magneto was regarded as charles' main adversary there was the extraterrestrial lucifer (who sported the same color scheme, ironically. it wasnt as though lucifer came before magneto so it was definitely A Choice..) who charles would have a semi-reoccurring feud with for a bit early on in the series. during their first encounter, charles would corner lucifer in his lair only to have a stone slab dropped on him, disabling his legs indefinitely

the second manner in which charles loses his mobility- and the time where erik is the most involved and is most deliberate- comes from. Our Favorite Universe in 2001: The Ultimate Universe

(Ultimate X-Men #1: "The Tomorrow People")

as is typically how charles x magneto team-up arcs go, while charles and erik worked together for some time it wasn't very long before erik wanted to pursue more Dramatic Measures for mutantkind. and As This Story Goes, amidst trying to escape the savage lands sanctuary he and erik built, erik drove a metal spike through charles' spine, leading to his disability in this verse

lastly, we have the House of M- or more specifically its prequel miniseries, Civil War: House of M- verse in 2008:

similar to Ultimate and the movies, this is another timeline where charles and erik team up. this time however, charles is more willing to follow erik's ideas after seeing the horrors of genosha upon reading the mind of a mutant who escaped the island, and the two seek to liberate the other mutants left behind. unfortunately, during their mission, a sentinel collapses the building charles and co. are infiltrating, leading to the loss of his legs

exactly like that! though she's not the only one...

edit: might need to add some additional dialogue to this to make it more clear, but a clarification in the interim; he knows about his own footprints. he's just surprised to see something similar already there when he knows he's only just landed. he lifts his own shoe to confirm that they're not identical (and also to reveal this to the viewer). seems his stoicism beat off the clarity in this one, sorry 😭

NINOS!!

Gansey crashing and burning in front of Blue is brilliant every time. They are communicating on completely different levels and I feel Adam cringing so viscerally, while also crying over how much Gansey loves him and is trying to do a nice thing for him (albeit in the most inept way possible)

Adam’s embarrassment is so endearing. His blushing ears! Holding his face in his hands! I love that Blue is immediately flummoxed by feeling drawn to this boy.

In the queue to pay for their pizza, Adam looking around for Blue while discussing the need for an amplifier with Gansey is brilliant. Darn you Maggie, I see what you're doing there!!!

The Brothers Lynch

I’d forgotten how raw Ronan and Declan are. Makes my heart hurt for them. Declan being dumb and angry enough to fight his little bro in the car park is a reminder he’s not really that much older than Ronan is.

And he's so alone. Ronan has such a strong friendship group, and Declan has a string of short term relationships, including a number of Ashleys who may or may not be using him 😭

Declan sucking his bloody bottom lip probably shouldn’t be sexy but it is.

Adam Adam Adam

Adam was 'good at making things quiet.' I love this line. It works on so many levels. You know those people who you love so much when you're around them you feel totally at peace? Yeah, that. Also the fantastic contrast between him making things quiet while Blue makes things loud. AND of course Adam wants to make things quiet, he has been trained to be small and unobserved to keep himself safe, and yet he is surrounded by passionate idiots who have no chill. Blue is loud, spiritually. Ronan is loud in like every way possible. They pull each other around on dolly carts and how does Adam feel picking off a scab he got from messing around with his friend having fun rather than one he got from his dad beating the shit out of him???

Also Adam has a bouncy ball..? This immediately gave me strong Simon Snow vibes- or the Humdrum. Which is such a fun parallel.

Adam feels 'observed' and Gansey agrees. Adam is so fricking perceptive. And isn't that just the most eery sensation.

Blue looks at the stars and tries to find meaning in everything. She's yearning for it. Meanwhile Adam is finding meanings without looking at all, like the significance of everything just keeps throwing itself at him. They are such good counterparts!!

Blue described Adam’s accent as a Henrietta sunset and thats needs to be talked about more imo.

Gansey's Diary Journal

'Longing burst from the pages.'

These guys are all yearning for something so much. And isn't that such a human commonality? I think this is what immediately tied me to this series. They all want, even when they can't verbalise what that want it. And its not a greed thing, but a bone deep longing- for love, for answers, for meaning, for more.

Imagine Gansey's journal.. and then think about what he'd do if he discovered pinterest. Just saying.

I love that Blue recognises the passion that has gone into the journal. Its about the journey, not the destination, etc, which is such a maddeningly accurate summary for the entire series.
