This is my second post about the Jigglypuff chibi model I recently completed! 🎨 In this one, I wanted to share a behind-the-scenes look at the process that brought it to life.

From the block-out stage to the final render, every step was a mix of experimenting and learning. You can see how I worked on the shapes, refined the details, and played around with the shading. 🖌️

Wayne Edson Bryan, The Juggling Clown / Wabi Sabi Circus, 2023, Ink on paper hand-drawn animation, total length 1:29 minutes. Each drawing (frame) appears on the screen for a tenth of a second. In other words, this animation is made up of 890 drawings. Fortunately for me, I only had to spend several months drawing twenty images, and I repeated them 44.5 times to fill the maximum length of time permitted of what can be posted as an Instagram reel. The music is an excerpt from: Animal Collective - Leaf House. 

This is the last completed artwork that I started in 2016 as part of the Wabi Sabi Circus drawing project. The limited edition pigment prints produced at Adamson Editions will continue to be available until they’re gone. For more info, please contact: https://www.adamsongallery.com

Sometime between when I started the Wabi Sabi Circus drawing project in 2016 and when I finished the 40 primary works earlier this year, I started a drawn animation of a juggling clown as a supplemental work. It got set aside midway and I rededicated myself to finishing it 16 weeks ago. It’s been slow going. Lots of pages and lots of dots that will never be seen because each frame only appears on the screen for approximately 0.1 second. I’ve always enjoyed taking on the projects that only the insane would consider. Hoping to have this WIP done sometime before the year ends. Stay tuned.
