Love putting on this cheap ass robe it makes me feel like I’m the emperor’s only male concubine that gets assassinated by the court for taking up all the emperor’s time without being able to produce an heir which results in a retaliatory culling of the noble houses by the grieving emperor, tearing apart the political stability of the nation resulting in an influx of foreign influence vying for control over the region due to the presence of a rare mineral endemic to the nation alone which can be refined to produce a potent panacea or turned into the component of a deadly weapon which turns into a large scale international stalemate as the emperor would rather stay in his room producing tear-jerking paeans about the goodness of my nature and the warmth of my embrace that future queer historians would discover held treasure troves of double entendres that would become commonplace slang in the peaceful future secured by the long-term cohabitation of these foreign nationals, themselves away from home and seeking human connection, which fostered cultural exchange and later mutual understanding and the establishment of permanent armistice that would later be attributed to me through my death and immortalize me as a symbol of peace through noble sacrifice and establish my life story as the base archetype for all doomed romance stories for millennia, even tho in reality I was just an errant washing boy with poor impulse control and a breeding kink that wouldn’t quit

@the-elder-polls — hello! it is tcs friday, so i wanted to share this piece i made of my ldb road, who enjoys magic, extreme mountain climbing, and never talking about herself, ever. don't worry about it. she's definitely not lying about her name or her age or any significant personal information like that. the mask is just a fashion statement. don't—don't worry about it. 

(she's sixteen. she only started going by road because she thought she got carted to helgen for being an enemy of the thalmor, so when hadvar revealed no one had any idea who she was she was so startled she just blurted out the name of the first thing she saw. which was the road. somehow no one has caught on to the fact that this is a really weird and suspicious name for an altmer to have, even if their parents didn't like them very much. she's come to genuinely prefer it over her original given name, but she's been living in horrible teenage anxiety about it for so long that it hasn't once occurred to her that maybe introducing herself like that at this point is not, in fact, lying, and therefore road does not, in fact, have to feel incredibly guilty about it.

she still does, because she's a emotional disaster masquerading as a functional and mentally stable adult, but she'll get there.

I'm not going to bring the mood down with details and drudgery, but obviously life in the Park Service is pretty bleak right now. It really says a lot about your skills and the strength of your application that you were hired during a period of time in which literally everything is working against you. I hope you have an amazing season and that it leads to great things. Congratulations a hundred times over. Enjoy that badge.

I do Product Management in the world of civic technology, which in theory is about using tech to empower the citizen while making the government more empathetic and efficient, but seeing how I work at the US federal level, that's all gone tits up as of late. :/

doing some research on parapsychology as a field. in short, it's the study of how the supernatural relates to psychology, and is largely regarded as pseudoscience with only a handful of people studying it, and very very few universities will even offer a parapsych program.

I've got this colleague at my day job who keeps saying infuriating things, but they are so funny in the context of the fact that evenings and weekends I'm making a Sherlock Holmes computer game.

Me: Oh yeah I'm learning Javascript at the moment. Him: Pff you don't want to do that. You're an artist and graphic designer, that's where your strengths are, I think you'll find computer programming really boring, it's not for everyone. Me: *looks at fourth wall and shrugs*

Me: I read this really interesting paper about a project working with dementia patients, where they guide them through making a memory map of familiar places. Him: Ooh, like Sherlock Holmes and his mind palace. Him: See, Sherlock Holmes has a mind palace. Him: But I'm sure you don't read those sorts of books, you wouldn't be interested. Me: *Sitting on a zoom call, with my collection of Strand magazines and signed picture of William Gillette very visible behind me. Opens mouth. Decides I don't have the energy. Closes mouth.*
