My old non animatronic art project, called "the birds of Russia". I drew one bird a day for a week. Those are finch, waxwing, goldfinch, jackdaw, starling, kingfisher and hoopoe. There is a mith about russian nature being poor and boring, so I made this project to show, that the are a lot of really beautiful creatures you can meet all over the country

The climate impact of burning coal, oil and gas must be taken into account when deciding whether to approve projects, the supreme court in London has ruled. The landmark judgment, handed down on Thursday, sets an important precedent on whether the “inevitable” future greenhouse gas emissions of a fossil fuel project should be considered. Campaigners hailed the ruling as a “huge win in the fight for a livable climate” and said it gave a boost to several other domestic lawsuits challenging fossil fuel extraction.
[...]
“The whole purpose of extracting fossil fuels is to make hydrocarbons available for combustion,” three of the five judges agreed. “It can therefore be said with virtual certainty that, once oil has been extracted from the ground, the carbon contained within it will sooner or later be released into the atmosphere as carbon dioxide and so will contribute to global warming.” The International Energy Agency has said no new oil and gas exploration should take placeif the world is to limit global heating to 1.5C (2.7F) above pre-industrial temperatures.
[...]
Campaigners have brought other lawsuits, such as those against the Rosebank and Jackdaw oil and gas fields in the North Sea, which also challenge the way those projects are assessed. “This is a huge win in the fight for a livable climate,” said Tessa Khan, a climate lawyer and executive director at Uplift, one of the groups challenging Rosebank. “Government can no longer keep repeating that the emissions from burning oil reserves don’t count.” It also gives a boost to a lawsuit challenging the government’s decision to approve a controversial new coalmine in Whitehaven, Cumbria, which had been delayed pending the Horse Hill decision. West Cumbria Mining, the company behind Whitehaven, had been allowed to intervene at the supreme court.

MY MASSIVE SCHOOL ART PROJECT IVE BEEN WORKING ON FOR LIKE SIX WEEKS!!!!!
The brief was a linoprint design with the prompt of "Hometown" :D
Translations under the cut:
HOME TOWN
Drawing of a two-headed dog: I took a lot of inspiration from shows and podcasts like Gravity Falls and Canp Here And There, where surrealism and strange happenings are the norm
Drawing of an Irish Elk: *I scribbled it out bc it contained information about where I live specifically, which I don't want online for obvious reasons*
Acrylic painting of an ice cream cone: I like the warm and cool shadows and how the left side is facing the light while the right is in shadow
PRIMARY SOURCES
*under the left drawing of lichen* Dry
*under the right drawing of lichen* Fresh
RAVENS AND CROWS
*top left* Ravens tend to be bigger than crows, and a lot fluffier. Jackdaws look very similar to crows, but while ravens & crows have dark eyes, jackdaws have very light eyes
*bottom left* crow feather ➡️ seagull feather➡️ swan feather➡️
SCOTT CHRISTIAN SAVA
*top right* Scott Christian Sava is traditional artist from New York who mainly uses gouache and watercolour and has amassed a large following from sharing his process on platforms like Tiktok and YouTube. He has said he was heavily influenced by JC Leyendecker, Marvel comics and the Art Noveau movement.
*above the manatee* One thing I really like about his art is the way he uses blotchy shapes to show light and shadow, and how that makes his paintings feel like something out of a storybook.
*in between the manatee and the unicorn* I also like the use of shapes and patterns in the background of his work to frame the subject, almost like a stained glass window.
*above the unicorn* Samples of paintings from his "National Animals" series, and my attempt at painting the national animal of Ireland in this style

Thinking about Ifrit spending his free time in the smithing house that is on the property, working on large wrought iron pieces. Benches that curve along paths in the garden. Hand forging ritual daggers for each new antipope, creating intricate hilts that reflect each pope's rise to power.
When he's not working on major projects, he spends his spare time working with Dewdrop's jewelry making supplies. The fire ghoul carefully casting and engraving intricate coin charms, effectively breathing life back into an old tradition. One evening Ifrit was curled around Zephyr in bed, listening intently as the air ghoul recounted memories of his past life. There was a particular theme to that evening, Victorian love tokens, Zephyr had a habit of mentioning them whenever Ifrit was in search of a new project to take on.
Victorian love tokens were smoothed coins, engraved with images or a lover's initials. The tokens were bestowed upon a partner for multitudes of reasons, be it relationship milestones, commemorating a vacation, or as something to be remembered by while their other half was away. Zephyr recalls ones he had in his past life fondly, the coins on a chain bracelet that commemorated each of his roles in the theatre. Bestowed upon him by an admirer at the end of the final show in a run of performances.
This recollection sparked the idea in the fire ghoul's mind, setting out to the smithing house early the following morning to cast coins in gold and silver. Spending hours hunched over the small work table, engraving intricate designs before including his name on the back side. "Ifrit" engraved in the effortless, airy script of the air ghoul he called his mate. The delicate strokes that took the air ghoul seconds to scrawl onto a gift tag, but upwards of a half hour for the fire ghoul to mimic with a dremel tool.
Later that afternoon, he returns to the main grounds of the abbey with a simple box in hand. The box was hand carved from two pieces of silver ash, the inside lined in a pale blue silk. Ifrit had carved the box months before, when he had decided to take up learning wood working from Ivy. The fire ghoul knew exactly where his mate could be found, basking in the warm sunshine that settled on the garden. As he approached the winding path he laid eyes on the air ghoul, the sun glinting off his gold and silver jewelry, a halo cast by the few flyaways of ice blonde hair escaping his braid.
Each afternoon the pair would rest and recharge in the sun, something that Ifrit referred to as "lizard time" for the air ghoul who has spent his morning in the cold of the infirmary for pain management treatment. Zephyr would sit, eyes closed as the sun warmed his aching body, heating the black clothing and heavy flannel lap blanket he used when in his wheelchair.
Ifrit cleared his throat, alerting the air ghoul to his presence as he settled into his favorite spot. The warmth of the sun had heated the iron bench, allowing for the fire ghoul to find relief of the pain that found itself settling into his spine from being hunched over for hours.
"I knew it was you my flame" Zephyr smiled, opening his eyes slightly to take in the sight of his mate.
Ifrit laughed softly, "You never know, those pesky jackdaws might have evolved to shape shift and we just haven't seen it happen yet."
"Even if they have evolved that ability, I doubt they'd be able to mimic scents. I'd know it wasn't you because they would smell of Sunny's wineberries and not of the charcoal used in the smithing house" the air ghoul jested, turning slightly to face his partner.
"One of these days I'm going to find a way to smell like wineberries just to trick you" Ifrit grinned, watching the sunlight dance off the air ghoul's jewelry in mesmerizing waves.
The fire ghoul placed the small ash box into the hands of his mate, the exchange of gifts were always wordless between the pair, as all that could be said was already known. He watched as the air ghoul carefully lifted the lid of the box, lithe fingers caressing the silk lining before lifting the bracelet from the box. No words were spoken as the air ghoul studied each of the tokens, only four had been placed upon the simple chain bracelet.
"Ifrit... you did all of this just for me?" Zephyr spoke after a long moment spent in awe. Each thin coin was cast from silver and gold, the intricate designs that represented milestones to the pair of ghouls.
"Of course, it was the way you were describing them last night put the idea in my head and I had to see it through" Ifrit spoke, carefully clasping the bracelet around Zephyr's wrist, ensuring the fit was perfect.
Zephyr turned his wrist slowly, getting a feel for the material of the bracelet. "It's far lighter than I remember them being" the air ghoul chuckled softly, the jingle of the charms accenting the love brimming in his tone.
"I made sure to cast the coins thinner than usual, which does make engraving a bit more difficult. But I wanted it to be a piece that was comfortable for you to wear," Ifrit said, his hand finding one of the charms and turning it to the back to show his name.
Zephyr smiled, the light jingle of his bracelet as he moved his hands to the wheels of his chair to test his movements, "And they don't hang too low so I can wear it when I'm in my chair"
"I made sure to keep mobility aids in mind when I made the charms and attached them, I wanted you to be able to carry a piece of me everywhere you go. No matter what" the fire ghoul explained, watching as his mate marveled over each of the coins.
Zephyr pulled Ifrit closer by the lapels of his thin jacket, lips capturing the fire ghouls and stealing the words away from his mate. No other words were needed, just an expression of love and gratitude.

Pjo cabin aesthetics
cabin 3: the cold of water after a first dive, stormy rainy nights, having a good laugh after it’s been a while, hurried handwriting, protectiveness that feels like adrenaline, the sound of harsh wind against your windows, collecting seashells, runner’s high, curly hair, receiving “blue-eyed people” memes, roasting historical events/ people, loyalty that’s like a double-edged sword.
cabin 5: bordeaux red nail polish, anger that you feel through your veins, being your father’s child, crows and ravens, listening to music on full volume, scars on knees that refuse to fade, skeleton leaves, reading people’s intentions through their eyes, ambition, the change between seasons, sarcasm, wanting to be loved (you already are), rather die trying than giving up.
cabin 6: (actual) dark academia, your roman empire is the roman empire, knowing random useless facts, math or chemistry smart, trying to befriend jackdaws, mythology, having a favourite pen, piles of books, hedge mazes, the smell of earth after rain, ink stained hands, the moon, empty cups of coffee, old libraries, fighting injustice with justice.
cabin 7: music smart or theatre smart, the sun’s rays forcing your eyes shut, warming somebody else’s hands with your own, writing notes in book margins, gold jewelry, waiting for a friend while they tie their shoelaces, sunset pictures, spring’s scent, comforting a stranger, musea, fantasy books, unfinished art, helping someone because you’d hope someone would’ve done the same for you.
cabin 10: record players, having butterflies in your stomach, blush on your cheeks, womanhood, dried flowers, being book smart, poison rings, listening to conshells, encouraging others, mirrors, jewelry with sentimental value, finding your passion, making eye contact with your friend across the room, a secret garden, comfortable silences, thinking about historical women figures to keep their stories and spirits alive.
cabin 12: the woods, the betrayal of the feeling of euphoria right before a bad trip, psychedelics, being underestimated, red candles, the calm before the storm, concerts, feeling the bass in your heart, empty churches, hyping up strangers, amfitheaters, the haze of alcohol, the smell of dawn, laughing until you can’t breathe, truth or dare, late night projects, graveyards, misty mornings, card games, always lending someone an ear.

here it is - a fan design for the finnish national team in i11 universe!
I tried to add as many references to birds and finland as I could, and I'll put them under a cut if someone's interested!
general team notes:
our actual national soccer team is named Huuhkajat (the horned owls) after a horned owl that one day randomly started to live in the team's home stadium building - hence the team name and bird theme
that owl got named Bubi, and this team's coach is based on him
general team hissatsu are themed after owls or famous finnish things
all the players are based on the official(?) regional birds
Tuoni:
based on a whooper swan (laulujoutsen), which is the national bird (captain status)
hissatsu is named after a famous finnish song (literal translation: a swan song)
name comes from the swan of Tuoni; a swan that swims in the river to afterlife in Kalevala, and anyone who harms it will die
Ukko
based on a wood grouse (metso)
hissatsu is a reference to a famous painting "Taistelevat metsot" which decipts two grouses battling
name means an older man or a guy, and the male bird is also called "ukkometso"
Erne
based on a white-tailed eagle (merikotka)
name is from the first finnish-built space craft part, and the symbol of the project was a white-tailed eagle
Tintti
based on a blue tit (sinitiainen)
"tintti" is a general nickname for tits (the birds), but also the finnish name for Tintin
Pukki
based on Teemu Pukki, probs the most famous finnish soccer player
and his last name literally means a goat (vuohipukki)
that's all
Kopek
based on a willow ptarmigan (riekko)
most grouses in northern finland make a coil/a nest in the snow for warmth and safety from predators, and his hissatsu is directly borrowed from that
name is literally the sound the bird makes (kopek-kopek-kopek..)
Hakkinen
based on a western jackdaw (naakka)
name is an historical name for the bird, and Häkkinen is a common family name here
Apus
based on a common swift (tervapääsky)
name comes from the latin name (apus apus)
Juha
based on a white-backed woodpecker (valkoselkätikka)
name is.... based on a teacher I had, who was called both Juha and literally a woodpecker.... (this is an inside thing for just me sorry)
Suo
based on a common crane
hissatsu comes from an old belief of cranes carrying the weight of the sky, and they're the most notable species that fly in wedges
name means literally a swamp, which has been the best place to spot cranes here
Valokainen
based on a black-throated loon (kuikka)
name is from an old finnish poem singer, Elessei Valokainen. A loon is in an important role in the earth-diver myth that tells the creation of the world, and Valokainen's story of it from 1908 has been recorded
I also forgot to wrote it in the image but want to mention, these birds have the most iconic cry on summer lakeside evenings, so Valokainen has a laugh that kinda sounds like that

Danny likes doing things for Clockwork, although he doesn't always understand why Clockwork has him do the things he does. It's alright, though. He's helping, and Clockwork isn't going to do anything bad to him.
Or: It seems like a simple choice on the surface. Die permanently, or become an immortal with superpowers. But it's a choice made with a sword at your throat and there is always a sacrifice.
Based on something I was talking about with jackdaw-sprite and verl (datawyrms) on discord.
