Kids at this age (primary school age) usually dont know what death is. It's just a world. Today marks the first anniversary of my Detentionaire fic Let the Future Tell the Truth, following Finnwich's life from the very beginnings of MWF to a hypothetical season five - at a final (almost) 130k words, it explores the backstories of everyone caught up in this conspiracy and discusses a lot of questions the show never got to answer, so if that sounds like something up your alley, definitely check it out!

Title-wise and with some of the lyrics, this one obviously makes for another wonderful song for Kan, but at the same time, I really do like it for Luke. Both of them also have a bit of a connection to cameras, so it really works well with the lyrics.

Fateous used to be one of my least favorite characters, but honestly, writing about him during the fic has made me appreciate him quite a bit (though he's still far from a morally decent person ofc).

Heartbreaking Maxwell song #2. If I had to pick one song to be the theme song for the entire fic, this would be it - everything about it just fits perfectly, from the lyrics to the music itself that sounds like him playing it on his organ at Coral Grove. Although there is one more song that really captures the essence of the story, and that's the one I'll end on:

There's hardly a better song to describe the beautifully complex relationship Maxwell and Ištaran have :') It's definitely one of my favorite things I got to explore over the course of the fic.

Okey. It's time to talk about latest video because its just... I dont know.

At first i thought it'll be a cool, "horror" video. You know, dark forest, abondend buildings at night and so on.

It really looked like something like that! I mean... They are kinda into scaring us with all these scary stories about Lodz and so on.

But than it got... Weird? Dark? Maybe even creepy? The video started glitching, unsettling things started showing up

it's me again!! sorry i forgot to elaborate, i meant to ask about which songs you feel most strongly about in the playlist

though to name something specific, i'm interested in your thoughts on some of the songs by the crane wives, especially metaphor and never love an anchor

okay okay okay

so. metaphor. that's one that i placed on gideon's playlist very early on. (marked on the spreadsheet as "griddlehark vibes + lyrics"). i was intrigued by how it tries to sound suave and cool, but sort of breaks down into desperation by the end, echoing gideon's habit of putting on personas/acts that she can't keep up in fraught situations. specifically in the lyrics i liked how much of a gtn tone it brings. for example

this reads very much like both the "I need to be able to trust you" / "I need you to be trustworthy" exchange from ch19 (pg. 209, gtn paperback), as well as sort of paralleling gideon and palamedes' discussion about what they'd do if their other half was a murderer (ch30, pg. 331, gtn paperback)

additionally, the line that follows that section:

nicely harkens back to kiriona's continued facade of indifference/anger towards harrow & co. at the end of ntn, as well as how badly put together that facade is, given it cracks and slips multiple times quite obviously.

in terms of never love an anchor, that song was placed on harrow's playlist, and was done so much more loosely. my frame of mind for the placement was sort of htn aligned i think? specifically around the end of act 5, when harrow deliberately risks her soul on the off chance that it will save gideon's.

like i said, pretty loose reasoning. aside from that, i know the actual context of the song, but i was really caught up in the harrow's burning self hatred haze at the time, and the song really neatly encapsulates a lot of conflicting feelings in regards to letting someone go because you believe that you are bad for them, which just screams "harrow" to me.

in terms of what songs i feel most strongly abt.....god, what songs don't i feel strongly about? i won't do full analyses on these, but i'll tell you some of my favourites: up the wolves by the mountain goats*, fill in the blank by car seat headrest, in hell by japanese breakfast, promiseland by MIKA, sun bleached flies by ethel cain**, and marrow by thao and the get down stay down***.....

but yeah! i could sincerely do this for every song on the playlist, no i am not kidding, thank you so much for asking :D
