Mathematicians of the era sought a solid foundation for mathematics: a set of basic mathematical facts, or axioms, that was both consistent — never leading to contradictions — and complete, serving as the building blocks of all mathematical truths. But Gödel’s shocking incompleteness theorems, published when he was just 25, crushed that dream. He proved that any set of axioms you could posit as a possible foundation for math will inevitably be incomplete; there will always be true facts about numbers that cannot be proved by those axioms. He also showed that no candidate set of axioms can ever prove its own consistency. His incompleteness theorems meant there can be no mathematical theory of everything, no unification of what’s provable and what’s true. Had a dream that I was in the UK, at the National Archives and somehow managed to bluff my way into the restricted, top secret archives (for serious academics only) and they had the remains of some monarchs laid out just laid on the grass (I guess it was like a cemetery). Lots of Tudors because what is English history but over-saturated by the Tudors? But they had Henry V's complete, articulated skeleton out as well, with an informative plaque next to him. He was pretty much the only monarch there I was really interested in (Henry IV was not there).

The informative plaque said Henry V was 220cm tall (this would make him 7'2 which he most definitely was not), had back problems and that the skeleton was originally believed to belong to a "wide set woman" (? I assume my dream was conflating Henry V with KV55 for some reason). I took a sneaky photo (presumably to share with my beloved @maplelantern). Anyway, I realised they were selling Henry V's skeleton £500,000 and dream!me was like "hang on, I am a rich successful author, i can just about afford that, let's put that boy in some forensic studies."
