The Prophet Ezekiel Talks About Lucifer
Evangelicals often insist that the figure that Ezekiel inveighs against under the description of the King of Tyre is, in fact, the King of Tyre and not the devil. But I’m going to ignore that perspective. Instead I would argue that in Scripture we can often find multiple levels of meaning such that one thing being true about it doesn’t invalidate the possibility that another, completely different, thing about it is also true. Additionally I am going with Lucifer (light-bearer) rather than Satan (adversary) because that is the aspect that the prophet is most concerned about.
Son of man, sing a dirge over yonder king of Tyre. This be thy message to him from the Lord God: The token, thou, of my considerateness. How wise thou wast, how peerlessly fair (Ezekiel 28:11-12)
We begin with a degree of obscurity. Monsignor Knox, whose translation I am using, notes about the ‘token of considerateness‘ that it literally means ‘the seal of similitude,’ which doesn’t take us much further. A number of other translations render the expression as ‘seal’ or ‘signet’ of perfection. It seems plausible to suggest that what Ezekiel was getting at was the idea that Lucifer was the highest and most perfect of God’s creatures in the heavenly Kingdom, than whom no greater could be imagined. That is, Lucifer was to the spiritual realm what Adam was to the physical one. And of what does this perfection consist? A union of wisdom and beauty. The truly wise is always beautiful and the truly beautiful is always wise. This is why and old gnarled person who is wise seems to shine in our eyes, if we observe them with our full attention, while a young aesthetically pleasing person may look ugly if we perceive their greed and narcissism....(click here to read more)

Water Is Life (Ezekiel 47:1-12)
Just as the natural processes of the water cycle give life and health to the planet, so the unseen spiritual processes working above, below, and on the earth exist to provide the life that is truly life.
Now he brought me back to the entrance to the Temple. I saw water pouring out from under the Temple porch to the east (the Temple faced east). The water poured from the south side of the Temple, south of the altar. He then took me out through the north gate and led me around the outside to the gate complex on the east. The water was gushing from under the south front of the Temple. He walked to…

Jeremiah Laments the Destruction of Jerusalem, stained glass, Brussels Cathedral,
It was thus with Jeremiah and Ezekiel whose utterances were broken by tears and sobs, and who could find no consolation except in continuing their lamentations: had the course of their grief been interrupted, we should have lost the most beautiful passages of Scripture. [...] So continue to weep and to tremble; let restlessness and agony invade your souls, make no effort to free yourselves from these divine terrors, these heavenly troubles, but open your hearts to receive these little streams from that immense sea of sorrows which God bore in His most holy soul. Sow in sorrow for as long as grace requires, and that same grace will gradually dry your tears.

The Prophet Ezekiel And Restoration
The Prophet Ezekiel And Restoration
In sacred scripture there are only three people that were taken up to Heaven.  One was our Lord Jesus Christ, but since He did this under His own power He actually ascended.  The other two are Enoch and Ezekiel.  Ezekiel was a younger contemporary of Jeremiah, lived through the last days of Judah and the early days of the Exile in Babylon.  He was widely opposed to the political and religious…

Have you ever wondered if you have a connection to the Israelites and beyond? From the prophet's vision to the scientist's laboratory, the story of resurrection echoes through the ages. Paleogenetic tests take us into the past and resuscitate the tales of our ancestors, echoing the spirit of Ezekiel's prophetic vision.

The Sins of Israel
1 Then the word of the Lord came to me, saying, 2 “And you, son of man, will you judge, will you judge the bloody city? Then cause her to know all her abominations. 3 You shall say, ‘Thus says the Lord God, “A city shedding blood in her midst, so that her time will come, and that makes idols, contrary to her interest, for defilement! 4 You have become guilty by the blood which you have shed, and defiled by your idols which you have made. Thus you have brought your day near and have come to your years; therefore I have made you a reproach to the nations and a mocking to all the lands. 5 Those who are near and those who are far from you will mock you, you of ill repute, full of turmoil.
6 “Behold, the rulers of Israel, each according to his power, have been in you for the purpose of shedding blood. 7 They have treated father and mother lightly within you. The alien they have oppressed in your midst; the fatherless and the widow they have wronged in you. 8 You have despised My holy things and profaned My sabbaths. 9 Slanderous men have been in you for the purpose of shedding blood, and in you they have eaten at the mountain shrines. In your midst they have committed acts of lewdness. 10 In you they have uncovered their fathers’ nakedness; in you they have humbled her who was unclean in her menstrual impurity. 11 One has committed abomination with his neighbor’s wife and another has lewdly defiled his daughter-in-law. And another in you has humbled his sister, his father’s daughter. 12 In you they have taken bribes to shed blood; you have taken interest and profits, and you have injured your neighbors for gain by oppression, and you have forgotten Me,” declares the Lord God.
13 “Behold, then, I smite My hand at your dishonest gain which you have acquired and at the bloodshed which is among you. 14 Can your heart endure, or can your hands be strong in the days that I will deal with you? I, the Lord, have spoken and will act. 15 I will scatter you among the nations and I will disperse you through the lands, and I will consume your uncleanness from you. 16 You will profane yourself in the sight of the nations, and you will know that I am the Lord.”
17 And the word of the Lord came to me, saying, 18 “Son of man, the house of Israel has become dross to Me; all of them are bronze and tin and iron and lead in the furnace; they are the dross of silver. 19 Therefore, thus says the Lord God, ‘Because all of you have become dross, therefore, behold, I am going to gather you into the midst of Jerusalem. 20 As they gather silver and bronze and iron and lead and tin into the furnace to blow fire on it in order to melt it, so I will gather you in My anger and in My wrath and I will lay you there and melt you. 21 I will gather you and blow on you with the fire of My wrath, and you will be melted in the midst of it. 22 As silver is melted in the furnace, so you will be melted in the midst of it; and you will know that I, the Lord, have poured out My wrath on you.’”
23 And the word of the Lord came to me, saying, 24 “Son of man, say to her, ‘You are a land that is not cleansed or rained on in the day of indignation.’ 25 There is a conspiracy of her prophets in her midst like a roaring lion tearing the prey. They have devoured lives; they have taken treasure and precious things; they have made many widows in the midst of her. 26 Her priests have done violence to My law and have profaned My holy things; they have made no distinction between the holy and the profane, and they have not taught the difference between the unclean and the clean; and they hide their eyes from My sabbaths, and I am profaned among them. 27 Her princes within her are like wolves tearing the prey, by shedding blood and destroying lives in order to get dishonest gain. 28 Her prophets have smeared whitewash for them, seeing false visions and divining lies for them, saying, ‘Thus says the Lord God,’ when the Lord has not spoken. 29 The people of the land have practiced oppression and committed robbery, and they have wronged the poor and needy and have oppressed the sojourner without justice. 30 I searched for a man among them who would build up the wall and stand in the gap before Me for the land, so that I would not destroy it; but I found no one. 31 Thus I have poured out My indignation on them; I have consumed them with the fire of My wrath; their way I have brought upon their heads,” declares the Lord God. — Ezekiel 22 | New American Standard Bible 1995 (NASB1995) New American Standard Bible®, Copyright © 1960, 1971, 1977, 1995 by The Lockman Foundation. "You say, "The LORD'S way is not fair!" Hear now, house of Israel: Is it my way that is unfair, or rather, are not your ways unfair? [If only you] turn away from all the sins which [you] committed, [you] shall surely live, [you] shall not die."

The Prophet Ezekiel Talks About You
In Chapter 28 of the Book of Ezekiel we see prophecies apparently directed against, respectively, the Prince and the King of the coastal city of Tyre. When we read them allegorically, however, we can see that they are also directed against, firstly, each person wounded by Original Sin (which means you and, unfortunately, me too,) and secondly against Lucifer the fons et origo of the whole Original Sin thing in the first place. In this post I propose to look at the prophecy against the Prince and in a subsequent one, God Willing, to comment upon the prophecy against the King. I shall be using the Ronald Knox translation of Sacred Scripture because it is so magnificently eccentric while also being faithful to its sources.
Son of man, give this message from the Lord God to the prince of Tyre: An ill day for thee, when thy proud heart told thee thou wast a god, Enthroned god-fashion in the heart of the sea! Mortal man, thou hast played the god in thy own thoughts. (Ezekiel 28:2)
You may be wondering whether or not I am randomly allegorising a passage that is best read literally. Fortunately Ezekiel cuts to the chase in the second line. The desire to be a god was where Eve started to go wrong....(click here to read more)

Speak To the Dry Bones (Ezekiel 37:1-14)
“I discovered that the meaning of earthly existence lies not, as we have grown used to thinking, in prospering, but in the development of the soul.” Alexander Solzhenitsyn
Valley of the Dried Bones, by Abraham Rattner (1895–1978) The power of the Lord came over me. The Lord brought me out by his Spirit and put me down in the middle of a valley. The valley was filled with bones. He led me all around them. I saw that there were very many bones at the bottom of the valley, and they were very dry. Then he asked me, “Son of man, can these bones live?” I answered,…

A Glimpse of God
A Glimpse of God
1 In the thirtieth year, in the fourth month, on the fifth day of the month, as I was among the exiles by the Chebar canal, the heavens were opened, and I saw visions of God. 2 On the fifth day of the month (it was the fifth year of the exile of King Jehoiachin), 3 the word of the Lord came to Ezekiel the priest, the son of Buzi, in the land of the Chaldeans by the Chebar canal, and the hand of…

False Prophets Condemned
1 And the Word of the LORD came to me, saying, 2 "Son of man, prophesy against the prophets of Israel who prophesy. And say to those who prophesy out of their own hearts, 'Hear the Word of the LORD: 3 Thus says the Lord GOD, "Woe to the foolish prophets who follow their own spirit and have seen nothing! 4 O Israel, your prophets are like the foxes in the ruins. 5 You have not gone up into the breach, nor built the wall for the house of Israel, that it might stand in the battle in the day of the LORD. 6 They have seen vanity and lying divination, saying, 'The LORD says. ' And the LORD has not sent them; but they hoped to confirm their word. 7 Did you not see a vain vision, and speak a lying divination? When you say, 'The LORD says;' although I have not spoken."
8 Therefore thus says the Lord GOD, "Because you have spoken vanity and seen lies, therefore, behold, I am against you," says the Lord GOD. 9 "And My hand shall be against the prophets who see vanity and who divine a lie. They shall not be in the assembly of My people, nor shall they be written in the writing of the house of Israel, nor shall they enter into the land of Israel. And you shall know that I am the Lord GOD. 10 Because, even because they have seduced My people, saying, 'Peace;' and there was no peace--and when anyone builds a weak wall they cover it with whitewash. 11 Say to those who cover it with whitewash, that it shall fall; there will be a flooding rain; and you, O great hailstones, shall fall, and a stormy wind will break forth. 12 And, behold, when the wall has fallen, shall it not be said to you, 'Where is the whitewash with which you have covered it?' " 13 Therefore thus says the Lord GOD, "I will cause a stormy wind to break forth in My fury. And there shall be a flooding rain in My anger, and hailstones in fury to destroy it. 14 And I will break down the wall that you have covered with whitewash, and bring it down to the ground; yea, I will expose its foundation. And it shall fall, and you shall be destroyed in her midst; and you shall know that I am the LORD. 15 And I will fulfill My wrath on the wall and on those who covered it with whitewash. And I will say to you, 'The wall is no more;' and, 'Those who whitewashed it are no more--that is, 16 The prophets of Israel who prophesy concerning Jerusalem, and who see visions of peace for her, when there is no peace,'" says the LORD.'
17 And likewise you, son of man, set your face against the daughters of your people, who prophesy out of their own hearts. And prophesy against them, 18 And say, 'Thus says the Lord GOD, "Woe to the women who sew magic charms on their sleeves, and make long veils for the head of every woman of stature, to hunt souls! Will you hunt down the lives of My people but preserve your own? 19 And you have profaned Me among My people for handfuls of barley and for pieces of bread, to kill the souls that should not die; and to save alive the souls that should not live, by your lying to My people who listen to lies."
20 Therefore thus says the Lord GOD, "Behold, I am against your armbands with which you are hunting the souls, as birds. And I will tear them from your arms, and I will set free the people whom you hunt as birds. 21 Also I will tear your long veils and deliver My people out of your hand, and they shall no more be in your hand to be hunted. And you shall know that I am the LORD. 22 Because with lies you have saddened the heart of the righteous, whom I have not made sad; and have made the hands of the wicked strong, so that he should not turn from his wicked way, that his life may be saved; 23 Therefore you shall see no more vanity, and you shall not divine any divination. And I will deliver My people out of your hands; and you shall know that I am the LORD." — Ezekiel 13 | A Faithful Version (AFV) The Holy Bible, A Faithful Version Copyright © 2007, 2009, 2010, 2011 York Publishing Company Cross References: Exodus 2:3; 1 Samuel 9:7; 1 Kings 13:18; Job 38:22; Psalm 91:3; Psalm 106:23; Song of Solomon 2:15; Isaiah 1:10; Isaiah 28:15; Isaiah 30:10; Isaiah 57:21; Jeremiah 6:15; Jeremiah 23:1; Jeremiah 23:14; Jeremiah 5:31; Ezekiel 2:3; Ezekiel 12:28; Luke 2:36; Luke 10:20; 1 Thessalonians 5:3; 2 Peter 2:14; Revelation 11:19
