come with me on my wikipedia journey about the trash tube
visited the wikipedia page "list of musical instruments" (i was trying to remember instruments) and immediately encountered the problem of the image for "anvil" being ten billion times larger than all the other images (or rather, "pictureks") and ruining the formatting by adding a horizontal scroll bar:
nevertheless i scroll down and find another even more baffling entry
"trash tube". no linked page. just a photo of a guy holding... something.
it is titled "The Trash Tube being used by the creator Jeremy Leafey". i click to see more details on the wikimedia page.
The Trash Tube is an percussion instrument made by Jeremy Leafey who is the bass guitarist to the Philadelphia jamband “Refrigerator” in 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic. The instrument is made of old trash found in Jeremy’s house such as two plastic cups taped together with pencils and popsicle sticks inside so it can be used as a shaker and has many other things attached to make different sounds such as, a hair comb, wrench, bracelets, paper clips, and toothpicks. Jeremy used this instrument in jams from psychedelic funk to experimental music and continues to use it till this day.
well that's pretty cool i suppose. don't know if it warrants an entry on this wikipedia page, though.
Starrlightmighty5's contribs are:
it is fairly obvious this is jeremy. "trash tube in use.jpg" was his first upload.
here is the relevant edit history for the inclusion of the trash tube in the list of instruments.
the other files, though: "bassduet.jpg" is him playing with his bass guitar teacher, who runs a bass guitar school. "standstraightorleave.jpg" is the album cover to his avant-garde/experimental music, released under his solo name - "starrlight mighty5", which explains the username (unfortunately when you google it, you mostly get results for traveling in utah). here is one of his recordings on youtube, uploaded in july 2020, which he describes as "an original Lowercase song by me that is made of objects/instruments around my house".
he then adds, "I play in a jamband called “Refrigerator” Here’s our website where you can find our social media, band info, and concert/tour dates!: https://sites.google.com/view/rerigeratorband/home?authuser=1"
now, if you click that link, you will find that it does not work. it does not work even if you add the "f" in "refrigerator" to the url." 404 page :(
the most recent jpg in the list is "refrigerator together.jpg", from april 2021, and it's a photo of six teen boys in a backyard, all holding up white shirts with their first names printed on them in a cool font. the description is "Refrigerator all together before playing", and it was taken in june 2020, almost a year before it was uploaded. one of the boys is named cole, and on the song i linked earlier he commented "Pretty Cool Jermey".
he has a lot of marching band & jazz band vlogs on his youtube as well, along with a lot of uploads of more obscure rock songs, re-uploads of rock concert footage, him playing some pretty sick bass riffs, and references in various pieces of media to bands he likes, especially phish. he just seems to be a real big music nerd, which is awesome. he's 19 now and hasn't uploaded anything in two years. i hope refrigerator still hangs out and jams. i hope he's doing even sicker bass riffs. i wonder if he still plays the trash tube.

Task Force 141 Music Headcannons
Price
-He has some significant influences from 70s/80s heavy metal, mostly influenced from his mum who was a rebellious metalhead (and a feral KISS fan) herself, but toned down her partying when John was born. That didn't stop her from showing him the good stuff.
-John’s earliest memories are of him and his mother going on roadtrips, radio blaring. His mom giving him little music “tests,” urging John to guess the artists of the song before they ended. Being so proud of him when he got them right. His mom had a huge stereo system, an outrageously pricey thing compared to the rest of their meager home. It could play both CD’s and tapes and it was his mom’s pride and joy.
-They had “cleaning” days where they would deep clean the house. Taking turns between swapping songs as they danced and dusted. A trend that extended well into his teenage years until he joined up.
-John would later pick up more thrash and progressive metal influences from his older CO’s and later by his own team. John is a radio kind of man, and other than the stuff he got from his mum he doesn't bother much with collecting, but he usually can find a radio station or two that plays what he likes. He still blares music when he cleans or works out.
-John also dips into a bit of blues, folk and country. He’s fond of the acoustic elements, it’s easy listening and some of them tell a good story.
-Absolutely owned a “Frampton Comes Alive” CD.
-Price was a bit petty about it at first, but the rest of the 141’s music tastes aren’t terrible…he still shoves the foam earplugs in on the truck ride home once Soap gets ahold of the aux cord. Though it gives him one hell of a laugh to see Soap cut a rug.
-Gaz downloaded a huge playlist for the man and crammed it on his phone. Price was tickled pink over the selections, and now this is the only mix he fusses with, throwing it on shuffle and letting it play while he smokes and does his paperwork.
-Man actually loves to dance, he doesn't just bop around like Soap does but he will take you by the hand and groove a bit with you. He loves to feel a warm body moving with his, letting the music move them together. This is actually how he woo’s ladies at the bar. A bit of liquid courage, and smooth song. He has someone giggling in his arms in no time.
Soap
-His library is mostly made up of funk/groove metal, metalcore, pop, disco and electronic. He can party to really anything really, he just loves anything that is fast. Something that has a bounce to it. There is never a wrong setting for this. Has nearly slipped and busted his head open having a one man mosh in the shower.
-Used to have several piercings, his tongue and eyebrow namely, as well as a couple more pieces in his ears and nipples. They unfortunately had to go when he joined up. But he will still throw the earrings in when it's time to party. Some thicker captive bead earrings from where he had them stretched just the slightest.
-He's actually pretty solid with a guitar. Doesn’t talk about it because it makes him feel like a douche. But he and his friends did have shitty garage band as teenagers. (Anyway..here's Wonderwall).
-Tries to keep it heavier when hangin with the boys but don't buy his tough guy bullshit, the next song is Madonna. His shuffle will give you whiplash.
-He and Gaz vibe the most, both crowding into the front seats to put on a concert the whole ride. Having a jam session while they cook together or having heated arguments on whether something is a cover or not (Gaz is always right).
Gaz
-The most eclectic out of all of them. Pretty similar to Soap, he tends to gravitate toward alt rock/indie, r&b, pop, and psychedelic. While he enjoys the upbeat electronic stuff that Soap enjoys, he prefers the groove. Something a bit slower and well…sexier.
-He is actually pretty knowledgeable (special interest you could say) about music. The man is like an encyclopedia for music. Can name songs by the first 2 seconds alone. He is a menace on trivia nights for this reason.
-Has started collecting records in his free time. He has favorites sure, but sometimes he'll just snag a few with interesting covers and give them a spin. He has found some gems this way…and also some straight *trash*. These songs have turned into memes between he and Soap.
-Makes playlists as a love language.
-Always trusted as the trip DJ, takes his job very seriously and considers all his teams tastes to carefully weave a mix everyone can vibe too.
-Sung in the church choir as a kid, absolutely hated every minute of it. He was always the star of the christmas cantatas until he quit going as a teen.
-He and his sisters would have knock down drag out fights over the sole CD player they had as kids. Genuinely can't stand boy bands due to his big sisters obsession with them at the time. (The shit was on repeat for months.)
Ghost
-absolutely uses the balaclava to hide a earbud when he's just doing paperwork in his office.
-It's his ritual after an op. Simon pops his earbuds in, leans his head back and rests. You don't talk to Simon during this time. He'll take them out when he's ready to talk.
-He also keeps one in while on leave, focusing on his music in the grocery or doing mundane errands. But just one earbud, he keeps the other out to listen for anything sus.
-Simon's music is pretty precious to him, and something he's actually pretty protective of. He never listened to his music out loud, even kept it turned down low with his headphones to prevent any accidental overhearing.
-He picked up a lot from his brother that he used as a springboard after that. Lyrics that gave him goosebumps, words for feelings he could never articulate. To him, there was music for anything. Anger, sadness, elation.
-Simon Riley who's favorite past time was rooting through old used CD's with his big brother at old video rental shops.
-Tommy who would usher him into the bathroom, putting big clunky headphones over his ears to block the sounds of their father's abuse. Clicking play and mouthing a “Stay here” as he clicked the door shut behind him.
-Simon Riley who scrawled his favorite lyrics onto the soles of old dingey converse. Colored them into the skin of his forearms in a mock up of the tattoos he would later get.
-And he would, Gaz finds them later, inky poetry weaved into the images along his arms, and on his collar. He subtly looks up the words later. Smiling as lyrics of old grungey 90s songs fill his screen.
-Tool enjoyer, literally just plays the albums start to finish, he is actually really fond of the instrumentals
BONUS!! Alex
-very similar to Price though he leans away from some of the heavier stuff. He loves the easy yacht rock type vibes with some classic rock. As well as some 90s and outlaw country.
-He is an absolute crooner when he’s drunk. He actually has a gorgeous singing voice, low and rich, reminiscent of Tracy Lawrence.
-He does know the dance to Copperhead Road, tried to teach Farah who does not have rhythm to save her life.

never got into vaporwave probably, what projects should i listen to for an introduction??
I always love this question. Finding the best primers to the whole of the vaporwave landscape and introducing new people to them is one of the many things with this genre that I just find so fun. I'm going to try to be as succinct as I can, but I am going to shoutout a lot, specifically twelve, so go ahead and take your time with these.

Macintosh Plus – Floral Shoppe (2011)
The biggest vaporwave album of all time. I will tell you now that this album is by no means perfect, it has quite a mixed reputation among fans & outsiders of the genre, but this is the album to single-handedly define the genre's core ethos in such a highly-concentrated way. If nothing else, this should give you a taste of what inspires and influences the genre most.
Chuck Person's Eccojams Vol. 1 (2010)
By all accounts, this is the very first vaporwave album and to this day, nothing sounds quite like it. A classic array of disorienting, hazy & psychedelic loops of old popular songs that still sound fresh and wholly enveloping.
猫 シ Corp. – HIRAETH (2014)
This one here is to help people gain a better understanding of what your typical standard vaporwave album often sounds like. It's quite varied in a number of subtly different styles & approaches to traditional vaporwave with some ambiance sprinkled in as well.
SAINT PEPSI – Hit Vibes (2013)
Now we're getting into the individual subgenres of vaporwave and while there's a few traditional vaporwave tunes sprinkled in here for variety, this album birthed & defined the genre of future funk with some of the best dance bangers you'll find in the scene. Lots of classy tunes on here, it's an absolute jam.
Blank Banshee – Blank Banshee 0 (2012)
Up to this point, every album I've shared has been intensely sample-based. This album still carries some samples, but it has original beats & synths to establish another subgenre known as vaportrap. It's a great beat tape with some classic tunes and I also recommend its sequel too, which is my favourite vapor album of all time.
ESPRIT 空想 – virtua.zip (2014)
Carrying on from the last album, this one almost doesn't use samples at all and when it does, it's usually an extra sound or instrument at most. I'm putting this here to establish that even basic vaporwave can be crafted from original compositions and the results are short but great.
t e l e p a t h テレパシー能力者 – 現実を超えて (2014)
What makes vaporwave the way it is and not like any other genre adjacent to it is its intensely heavy focuses on atmosphere more than anything else. So naturally, you're going to see a lot of bridges to ambient music. This first example is the subgenre of slushwave, which crafts the same excellent vaporwave tunes, but additionally filters them through such a wash of effects that transform them into psychedelic & blissful dreamscapes.
식료품groceries – 슈퍼마켓Yes! We're Open (2014)
The next subgenre in this vein is mallsoft, which answers the question of vaporwave being set in the tall & wide spaces of shopping centres by placing relaxing tunes in pools of reverb and letting them sprawl from the loudspeakers of the area's corners. This album is the first big one to establish that with a unique setting and gorgeous sample choices.
2814 – 新しい日の誕生 (2015)
The last of these ambient subgenres is dreampunk, which is a lot like vaportrap in that it heavily relies on its own compositions with very few samples while still retaining the genre's focus on nostalgia, this time set in the melancholic & rainy nights of the urban city through what is at least the second biggest album in the entire genre.
death's dynamic shroud – I'll Try Living Like This (2015)
I'm gonna end this list with a few of the genre's weirdest corners. Vaporwave is constantly wide open to new & unique ways of experimentation and this album stands as the best example of that. Wholly unique aesthetic choices, completely innovative sampling techniques and an overall opus of incredibly strange, surreal & psydchedelic soundscapes.
Infinity Frequencies – Computer Death (2013)
After that, I'll close this list with two examples of an abstract subgenre known by two names. They're synonymous to the greater community & world of music, but I see them as two different approaches. They're both defined by the creation of intensely haunting, isolated & eerie loops of mysterious soundbites extracted from the likes of television & radio. Signalwave is what I use to describe the more accessible & musical end of that sound and this start of a trilogy is the best example for it.
░▒▓新しいデラックスライフ▓▒░ – ▣世界から解放され▣ (2012)
On the other hand, I will leave you with what I consider to be the most divisive vaporwave record of all time. This album defines what is more commonly known as broken transmission and it is much more obtuse, glitchy, dark & surreal to listen to depending on the album. You're going to listen to this and either love it, hate it or sit inbetween. People have taken it as a joke while others view it as a work of art. Approach this one at your own discretion.
That's it! Those are the first 12 vaporwave albums that I will almost always recommend every single one of you to check out first. The greater landscape of vaporwave doesn't start & end with these albums, but instead, they give you the best surface level primer to help dip your toes in to such an amazing genre of music.

A heady mixture of the bad and the brilliant
April 19, 2002 by Paul Connolly Heathen Chemistry track-by-track Hindu Times The first single to be released from the album sounds impressive at first, if only for the vastness of the production. But its bluster and bravado fail to mask the inadequacy of the tune. Rating: 5/10
Force Of Nature Noel sharpens his talons for a sideswipe at his former wife, Meg Mathews. Oasis briefly shed their Beatles stylings and adopt instead the rather threadbare polyester demeanour of, er, Slade. This doesn’t so much rock as plod in a clumsy, clunky fashion. Rating: 5/10
Hung In A Bad Place Good heavens! A really good, old-fashioned full-tilt Oasis rocker, with a great chorus on which Liam’s voice sounds terrific. The song was written by new member, Gem Archer, who seems to compose Oasis songs rather more easily than Noel these days. Rating: 8/10
Little By Little Liam and Noel sing together on the album’s first flirtation with an anthem. Heavy atmospherics and a barrage of guitars mean that it’s not the most subtle of beasts but it does boast a monumental chorus. Rating: 7/10
Songbird A Liam Gallagher composition. It has instruments, words and a tune. Rather bizarrely it sounds like John Lennon fronting Wings and, even more remarkable, it is very good. The song the word ditty was invented for. Rating: 8/10
Stop Crying Your Heart Out Now this is what we want from Oasis. A lighters-aloft, made-to-be-sung-at-drunken-office-parties, stone cold classic anthem. A piano motif eerily similar to the one used on the Korgis’ 1980 hit Everybody’s Got To Learn Sometime leads into a shimmering and really rather beautiful song about love and redemption. Glorious. Rating: 10/10
Jam Out And then they go and follow the best track with the worst. An utterly pointless instrumental jam. Rating: 1/10
All in The Mind Oasis have a crack at silly psychedelic nonsense that wasn’t up to much even when the Beatles tried their hand at it. A malnourished tune and Liam’s very nasal whine add to the irritation. Rating: 2/10
She Is Love Noel in soppy mood, with acoustic guitars and Sunday school tambourines. There’s even some handclapping towards the end. Still, another good tune. Rating: 6/10
Born On a Different Cloud Liam completely transforms into John Lennon on this homage to the Double Fantasy-era of the former Beatle. Excellent impersonation but, really, what’s the point? Rating: 3/10
Better Man If you’re going to rip off the Stone Roses, why pillage their dreadful Second Coming period? Another Liam song, which bears an uncanny resemblance to the Roses’ Love Spreads. Not a great way to round off the album. Rating: 4/10
Verdict Did you really think that Oasis would embark on a wild odyssey deep into the world of jazz-funk? They’ve barely even opened their front door and taken a look at the world outside. For their fifth album Oasis have retrenched and become even more like the Beatles. Heathen Chemistry is Oasis boiled down to their irreducible essence, brilliant in places, shockingly bad in others. Rating: 7/10

Yves Jarvis — All Cylinders (In Real Life)

All Cylinders is an apt title for the latest album by Yves Jarvis, the artistic project of Montreal-based musical polymath Jean-Sebastien Audet. Though his discography to date has spanned neo-soul, experimental rock, funk, and psychedelic pop, All Cylinders dips into all of these genres and more, with dizzying switch-ups within and between its tracks. The album roams and revs liberally, but Jarvis keeps things succinct and kaleidoscopic, drawing playful connections across the record and to albums past.
In my Dusted review of Jarvis’s last full-length I wrote, “At its best, The Zug shimmers with invention, melody and humor… There are stretches when the pacing feels a little sluggish where slower tracks are sequenced back to back, or the songs jam on ideas that don’t feel quite as inspired as elsewhere.” There’s no such problem with All Cylinders — melodies and riffs arrive in quick-fire succession, with many of the songs feeling like a convergence of multiple disparate threads. Take “Gold Filigree,” for example, which alternates between smooth, sensuous passages and a stroppy, convulsive strut, or opener “With A Grain,” which sounds like the theme tune to a 1970s game show or sitcom.
All of this diversity and showmanship brings to mind iconic artists such as Stevie Wonder or Frank Zappa. However, rather than work with crack session players, Jarvis builds his idiosyncratic sound worlds alone, from the ground up. It seems impossible given the complexity of the compositions and the turn-on-a-dime feel of the playing, but that’s part of Jarvis’s charm. All Cylinders is a lot to take in and doesn’t cohere as beautifully as 2020’s Sundry Rock Song Stock, which had an immersive, dreamy haze to it. With so much going on, you can be sure that if a particular song or passage doesn’t quite hit the spot, another one will soon arrive to catch the ear.

FELA, THE UNBEARABLE REIGNING PROPHET– BY EGUNGWU C. BENJAMIN
Due to this year's Felabration music festival themed 'Question Jam Answer,' which started on 9th and will be ending on Sunday, 15th October, 2023. I decided to pen down this commemorative piece for the musical icon.
In this piece we will discuss about how the musical festival started and the brain behind it, we will also have brief background of the music icon and information about his career and achievements.
In 1998 Felabration was conceptualized by the late Afrobeat music legend's daughter, Yeni Anikulapo-Kuti just to remember his father's legacy. How he used music as a tool to speak about bad governance , exposing the hidden skeletons in the cupboard of corrupt politicians and religious institution leaders.
The music festival is hosted once every year for seven days and people comes from different states in the country, some from different countries to celebrate the Music icon at Afrika Shrine, Ikeja, Lagos State.
Brief Background of the Music Icon
Olufela Olusegun Oludotun Ransome-Kuti Popularly called 'Fela Anikulapo-Kuti' was born on 15th October, 1938, in Abeokuta, Ogun state, into an upper middle class family.
The Late, Chief. Funmilayo Ransome-Kuti was the mother of Fela. She a very popular feminist activist during the anti-colonial movement and first woman to drive a car in Nigeria back in 1951, while his father, Reverend, Israel Oludotun Ransome-Kuti, was a school principal and first president of the Nigeria Union of Teacher.
Later Fela Kuti removed 'Ransome' from his name and changed it to 'Anikulapo' meaning "He who carries death in his pouch or hands".
This will bring us to one of his hit track, that I love so much titled 'Colo-mentality'. In the song he talked about how the British sold their culture and language to us. we took everything and abandoned ours which makes us original.
In the song he said;
" If you say you be colonial man. You don be slave man before. Them don release you now. But you never release yourself. in another stanza he said;
"Dem go proud of dem name. And put dem slave name for head. No be so?… "
This can be linked to his decision to change his English name ' Ransome' to a Yoruba name 'Anikulapo'.
Fela Kuti is a cousin to the Popular writer and laureate Wole Soyinka (a Nobel Prize for Literature winner).
Brief Music Journey
Base on my research , I found out that the Music Icon was actually sent to London to study medicine just like his brothers; are all medical doctors.
He got to UK enrolled at Trinity College London where he studied classical music and became exposed to different musical sounds by playing piano in jazz and rock bands.
However, in I960s he returned to Nigeria and formed a band ' Koola Lobitos' just as he played when he was in London and Afrobeat sound started from that group through experiment and practices.
That is why he is refered to as the King of Afrobeat which is Jazz, Funk, Ghanaian/Nigerian High-life and psychedelic rock infusion.
Most of the top Afrobeat stars in the world like; Burna-Boy who claimed that his style of music is Afro-fusion. This is inspired by Fela Kuti and he affirmed to it.
During his life time while doing Music in Nigeria, he used it as an instrument to talk c on themes like; freedom, injustice, corruption and any other social vices within the country.
Due to his doggedness and ability to withstand pressure from the Military government in power, they were looking for reasons to find him guilty and jail him.
He declared himself the head of his communal compound, which he named the independent 'Kalakuta Republic'. The place got many attention due to use of drugs, indulgence in sex, polygamy support ( he married 27 women ).
It was said that 1000 soildiers raided his house,' Kalakuta Republic' in Lagos. Thy destroyed his properties and beat up everyone in there.
During the raid Fela, 's mother, Funmilayo Ransome-Kuti, was thrown out from the window. She sustained serious injuries and died at the General Hospital in Lagos on April 13, 1978 and most National Dailies reported the incident with the headline; “Fela’s Mum is Dead" or " Fela's House Burnt ".
This didn't make him stop his musical career or compromise his stand. He dropped more hit tracks like; “Zombie,” “Beasts of No Nation,” “Upside Down" and “Monkey Banana,”.
In his hit track " Zombie" he said; "Zombie no go walk unless you tell am to walk", Which Ironically, he was referring to the military or soldiers who doesn't do things they wish to do but they act base on order or instructions from top ranking officers.
This still remind me my days in Enugu, while still a kid, any time my mother is singing this song, just know you are suppose to do something and you haven't done it. (Smiles African parents still the best).
I referred to him as a prophet in this piece because his music his ever green. Everything he said when he was alive is still happening and even getting worse.
His music stirs ones mind to reflect on life unlike the the artist today that centers their music on sex and flamboyancy. Fela also sang about sex and having good time.
I am not against this kind of music everyone has there style of music and decision to choose what to sing about but once in a while they should use music as a tool to stir-up consciousness.
I dance and sing to the new style of songs, the artists are putting Africa in global map, Everyone is trying to identify themselves as an African but they should also remember that music is an art and should be used to convey message to educate and inform. It shouldn't be for entertainment purpose only.
I do appreciate Singers like; Falz, Tekno, Idris Abdul Kareem, Daddy Showkey, Late Sound Sultan, et-al .

Ronald Raccoon and Pals
Set in a colorful, 1970s-inspired world, Ronald Raccoon and Pals follows the adventures of Ronald Raccoon and his close-knit group of friends as they navigate teenage life, explore their individuality, and celebrate their differences. Packed with humor, groovy aesthetics, and heartfelt moments, the series is a nostalgic tribute to the era’s cultural vibrancy.
The Cast
Ronald Raccoon:
A free-spirited teen with a love for adventure and self-expression. Ronald is the son of Rack Raccoon, a retired slapstick cartoon star. While he respects his dad’s legacy, Ronald prefers spending his time exploring music, skateboarding, and hanging out with his eclectic group of friends. His charisma and natural leadership often inspire his pals, even if his impulsiveness sometimes leads them astray.
Rack Raccoon:
Ronald’s dad, Rack, was a legendary slapstick cartoon star from animation’s golden age. Now retired, Rack enjoys telling stories about his old Hollywood days, occasionally demonstrating his over-the-top cartoon antics to help Ronald and his friends solve problems. Despite their generational differences, Rack and Ronald share a strong bond.
Bernie Bear:
A mellow, soulful bear with an African-American accent. Bernie is the group’s voice of wisdom and an aspiring funk musician, often jamming on his bass guitar. He brings a cool, laid-back vibe to the crew, always ready to share life advice or a funky tune.
David Dog:
A lovable, easygoing American Greyhound of Latino descent, David is known for his relaxed personality and sharp mind. Despite his lazy demeanor, he’s an excellent problem-solver with a knack for turning chaos into opportunity. David loves sharing food from his culture with his friends, often introducing them to dishes like tacos, tamales, and churros. His kitchen skills and culinary knowledge make him a cherished member of the group.
Ricardo Rat:
The grumpy but lovable Italian-American rat with a heart of gold. Ricardo is the realist of the group, quick to point out flaws in their plans but always willing to lend a hand. He’s passionate about cooking, especially pizza, and dreams of owning his own pizzeria. Despite his sourpuss attitude, Ricardo’s loyalty to his friends runs deep.
Philip Fox:
The sophisticated British fox with a love for poetry and drama. Philip often adds a theatrical flair to the group’s adventures, narrating events in rhyme or offering dramatic commentary. While his refined demeanor sometimes clashes with the others’ casual attitudes, his poetic insights and wit make him an invaluable friend.
Rita Raccoon:
Ronald’s girlfriend and an independent, outspoken feminist. Rita is a passionate advocate for equality and environmental causes, often organizing community events and protests. She’s not afraid to stand up for what she believes in or call out the boys when they’re being immature. Rita’s fierce determination and clever humor make her an inspiring role model.
The Show’s Style and Themes
With its psychedelic 70s aesthetic, funky music, and warm humor, Ronald Raccoon and Pals blends slapstick comedy with heartfelt storytelling. The show celebrates cultural diversity, individuality, and friendship while addressing timely themes like activism, self-discovery, and community. Episodes often feature a mix of goofy hijinks, meaningful moments, and a touch of nostalgia, making it a perfect blend of humor and heart.
The animation style mirrors the charm of Hanna-Barbera classics with a touch of Schoolhouse Rock!’s vibrant design, while the dialogue reflects the slang and cultural vibes of the 1970s. The series’ mix of timeless themes and retro fun ensures its appeal to audiences of all ages.

311 - Music (1993)
311's debut album on Capricorn Records.
I'd characterize this album as heavy and rugged with moments of hazy grooves - some young stoners with a positive message exploding towards what would be over 30 years as an unparalleled rock band. They were guys from Nebraska rocking a unique sound and hitting the scene with zero f's to give.
Music is infused with funk, metal guitar riffs, reggae, jazz, rap, and something else. There are no dull tracks on this album. It's a lot of high energy sprinkled with some groovy mellow jams. It is a one of a kind debut album from one of the notoriously non-conforming bands coming out of the 90s.
Take a night off, hydrate, smoke a little somethin', put some headphones on and take a smooth and psychedelic trip with this album.
My favorite songs:
Visit
Hydroponic
My Stoney Baby
