Las pulsiones y pasiones de un país en tensión

Quizás Massa apueste a un sisma interno en JxC que lleve al radicalismo, la Coalición Cívica e incluso sectores del ‘larretismo’ (si es que eso existe) para su armado político. La idea de dejar a Macri, Bullrich y sus halcones aislados con Milei, suena tentadora. Pero hay un dato más profundo de estas elecciones que Massa no puede olvidar: todo el peronismo unido y con su enorme aparato movilizado no llegó ni al 40% del electorado. Eso muestra que el desgaste que tienen en el pueblo es muy grande. Los fracasos de los últimos gobiernos pesan mucho en el humor social y esa puede ser la llave que intente revitalizar Milei para volver a una posición triunfal. Hay una crisis social y política aguda y ninguna de las dos ofertas (ni la tercera que quedó afuera) están proponiendo un modelo de país que saque a nuestra clase de estas condiciones de vida precarias y violentas. Hay vida más allá de estas vueltas electorales y se avizora muy oscura. Será tarea de nuestro pueblo organizado luchar para que la tortilla se dé vuelta.  Dos aclaraciones necesarias: por un lado, lea usted esta nota y cualquiera que se vaya a escribir y/o cualquier columna política que salga en los medios con sumo cuidado, quienes arriesgamos análisis en este país tenemos una seria tendencia a pifiarla en la mayoría de los pronósticos. Por otro lado, este cronista considera un hecho social y político muy importante a las elecciones, pero por su formación política no considera que votar cada dos años sea algo de vida o muerte, ni tampoco cree que hacer política se reduzca a participar de los procesos electorales. Dicho esto quiero enunciar la hipótesis política que vengo a proponer (a sabiendas que puedo estar muy alejado de la realidad): - El ballotage se define por las pulsiones internas y colectivas que tengan los votantes de JxC: si gana su pulsión “gorila” o antiperonista y se vuelcan a Milei; o bien si gana la pulsión “anti salto al vacío” y elijen a Massa. Si bien la hipótesis toma un riesgo o una simplificación, ya que coloca solamente al 23% de votos de JxC en la centralidad y pareciera negar el rol que vayan a tener los casi 10% de Schiaretti y Bregman, e incluso supone obviar lo que puedan hacer quienes no votaron o votaron en blanco; es necesario hacer una salvedad: todos esos votos también jugarán un rol en el humor social previo y en la elección final del 19 de noviembre. No quiero ignorarlos ni menospreciar ese caudal de votos, solamente que para el fin de sintetizar la hipótesis he preferido centrarme en el núcleo de votos del tercio que quedó afuera del ballotage. ¿Qué hará ese 23% en la segunda vuelta? Es imposible saberlo. Vuelvo a escribirlo para que tomemos con pinza este y cualquier análisis que pretenda revelar alguna verdad absoluta: es imposible predecir ese comportamiento. Venimos de dos batacazos en dos elecciones seguidas que tuvieron apenas 60 días de diferencia, en las PASO arrasó Milei y pareció iniciar un huracán imparable. A sólo dos meses, Massa dio vuelta la taba y logró que el peronismo ordenado detrás de su figura, gane en casi todas las provincias y deje afuera de combate a todo Juntos por el Cambio y muy golpeado a los libertarios fachistoides de La Libertad Avanza. Por eso pensar que en menos de un mes haya un resultado inesperado es algo altamente posible. Yendo a las pulsiones hay algo de los discursos que anoche enunciaron los dos candidatos que muestra que van a luchar por eso. Massa reforzó (y uno puede suponer que lo era cada vez más) su camino hacia el consenso (por arriba obvio) y el llamado de un “gobierno de unidad nacional”. Qué alcance y significados tiene eso, solo podremos saberlo si se concreta. El último ejemplo a mano fue el gobierno de unidad entre Duhalde y Alfonsín en 2002, que dejó ajustes y sangre en nuestro pueblo. Pero en este mes que queda no hay dudad que Massa sólo puede aspirar a ganar si logra esa alquimia casi inexplicable de desentenderse del actual gobierno en donde él es el virtual presidente hace un año y el ministro de economía que galopa un ajuste y una inflación insoportable; al mismo tiempo que se muestra dialoguista y cercano con la UCR, el peronismo cordobés e incluso sectores del PRO y la izquierda. Todo sin dejar de intentar convencer a una parte enorme del electorado que él no es una continuidad del modelo kirchnerista. Un rompecabezas a priori imposible, pero teniendo en cuenta que se nos quemaron todos los libros ayer cuando ganó la primera vuelta el ministro de economía del 12% de inflación mensual, este cronista dejaría la puerta abierta a la capacidad de Massa de fumar abajo del agua. Milei, visiblemente golpeado en su ego y su arrogancia por su desempeño, salió a dar un discurso que se pareció más a los que Durán Barba y Marcos Peña le escribían a Macri en 2015 que a la catarata de incoherencias, datos errados y descalificaciones violentas que venía mostrando el admirador de Cavallo y Menem en sus últimas semanas de campaña. No hay dudas que Milei y su equipo leyeron el camino que les queda para ganar el ballotage: salir a negociar con todo Juntos por el Cambio y lograr el mayor apoyo posible. Si uno se guía por el discurso de anoche de Milei pareciera que los viejos meados ya no huelen mal y que los “Juntos por el Cargo” se volvieron anticasta de golpe. Así expuestas las estrategias de ambos equipos de campaña quedará por ver cuánto resultado les da. Me animo a suponer que ese 23% de votantes no es un bloque uniforme que irá completo hacia un candidato. Recordemos que son la representación de una coalición política que gobernó el país, la capital federal y la provincia de Buenos Aires hace 4 años y que en los últimos dos años dilapidó todo su caudal político nacional. Es decir son la expresión de un espacio que no estamos en condiciones de afirmar que seguirá unido de acá al 19 de noviembre. Por eso, la hipótesis política elegida es darle centralidad a cuál de las dos pulsiones de ese electorado se impondrá en las conciencias individuales y en el pensar colectivo de acá a la segunda vuelta. ¿Primará en ese tercer tercio su desprecio absoluto por el peronismo? ¿Será su “gen gorila” el que haga rechazar votar a Massa aunque enfrente esté Milei, Trump o Bin Laden? ¿O triunfará el temor a darle el gobierno del país a un ultraliberal que les dijo de todo en la campaña, que no muestra ni una pizca de estabilidad emocional, que no conoce ni un dato de la realidad concreta del pueblo argentino y qué encima está rodeado de energúmenos que proponen vender hijos, órganos, o dejar pedófilos al mando de escuelas? Hay vida más allá de estas vueltas electorales y se avizora muy oscura. Será tarea de nuestro pueblo organizado luchar para que la tortilla se de vuelta. While doing reach for my owns OCs, I was surprised (while I shouldn't because if Sanada do something right it's definitely the symbolism of her characters) that Eddie is incredibly Thanatos coded.

✅ Psychopompe of sort (carried the bodies to hell/eternal rest), guardian of dead (literally one of the meaning of Eddie's name: Guardian of Tombs) ✅ Poppy theme (its seeds are narcoleptic and help create morphine, related to Thanatos, Hypnos and Morpheus in myth. Other than the sleep like apparence of dead, it's also because ingesting too much of it can be deadly.) ✅ *Anime only* butterfly theme (in Ancient Greek, butterflies are a symbolism for the human soul - it's also why Psyché is given butterfly wings, as she becomes the goddess of Soul. Sometimes, Thanatos is also represented with butterflies)

Both the flower and the insect are also symbolism for the beauty yet the brevity of life. ✅ Give peaceful/unpainful deaths (Thanatos was originally just the Death, then as the myth goes on, the brutals deaths were given to his sisters, the Keres) ✅ Big Family (For Thanatos: A twin brother who had A TON of children including Morpheus + all the others Nyx's children, being his siblings. Mason family is smaller in comparaison (4 boys) but they had a zoo in their house soooo...)

✅ Buttmonkey (Thanatos on paper is scary and inflexible, yet this dude manages to get caught in a bag by Sisyphus.)

Now I can see a more twisted vision of Thanatos/Hypnos with Albert/Eddie, so this will be more a theory/interpretation than a true comparaison but still.

Hypnos and Thanatos are twin brothers, and sometimes co-workers.

Hypnos, god of sleep, is represented with white wings and is beloved by humans and gods alike as they allow them to rest, to be at peace. This love is reciprocated.

Thanatos is represented with black wings. In opposition to his brother, he is hated and feared by humans and gods alike, but as Hypnos, the feeling is shared (though the fear is replaced by distaste).

Now, Eddie and Albert. They aren't twin brothers but I still feel there is some parallelism.

Albert is the "favorite" one, despite being the violent one. While saying he hates everything and everyone is probably exaggerated, he is in so much pain, frustration (and delusional), he projects on others, especially the weaks (and Eddie) and search to destroy them.

Meanwhile, Eddie is the "unfavorite" but also the kind one. The one who wants pets (and people) to be at peace. He feels that by 'owning' people (by killing them) he can make them 'happy' and connect with them that way (hence his interest in Ray).

All this to say that, somehow, Albert is like a Thanatos rejecting his role (as a gravedigger) and his family (becoming ironically more 'peaceful' than his so loving brother), while Eddie is a sort of Hypnos who had gone wrong by embracing his brother's (Thanatos) duty.

What would it take for Steven to fall in love??? How would he express that?

Ahah are you the same person who asked that for Jake ?

That one is pretty easy to answer: someone who's pretty, nice, kickass and pays attention to him.

Edit. Okay, this ended up being an essay on Steven and love *sigh* of course, so here it is :

Steven Grant and love/intimate relationships

We saw how easily he falls for someone. I think he's had lots of crushes and people he fell in love with throughout the years.

I do think Layla is special though, even to Steven. She's his perfect woman, he wouldn't want anyone else.

I think he's very open with his love, both by letting himself feel and show those emotions and by being attentive to his SO.

You know the five love languages? Marc and Jake have their specific ones they're more comfortable with, Steven's love language is...all of them.

He gives compliments, tells his SO how much he cares about them, buys them gifts, he is helpful and supportive, he gives nice little attentions, wants to be close physically to them, cuddles, hand holding etc, writes French and coptic poetry for them.

If it weren't for his crippling relationship anxiety and neediness he'd be the perfect romantic boyfriend.

You could never say that Steven doesn't care about you or doesn't treat you well sometimes too well, ask Layla

Steven is the unbridled need for love and affection of the system.

The other two boys have the same need but they pretend they don't/burry it deep.

It's all good to subvert expectations and stereotypes but sometimes what the material gives you just works y'know ? No need to make it different to what we've been shown.

My way to 'subvert' Steven is just to make him the Straight BoyTM of the system. But even then he's not that straight, just more than Jake & Marc are.

Steven is definitely biromantic, because he just can't help but fall for everyone who's nice to him (okay he needs a bit more than that but you get the idea). He's only attracted to women however*, and he's comfortable being intimate with very few of those. He needs to know someone really well to be comfortable sleeping with them.

Steven still being a virgin at 34 (that's their age in the show if I'm not mistaken?) isn't just because he's neuroatypical/socially awkward/shy. It's also because, well, he didn't front for 34 years straight, so he was 'present' for less time than that. So to begin with he had less opportunities for it than your average singlet does. And thirdly, it's also because he needs that deep emotional connection before he can be intimate with someone (and with point 1 & 2 we know why he hasn't had that connection before Layla).

Steven is also the kind of person to call sex 'making love' (Jake & Marc roll their eyes every time, Layla giggles).

He's also the kind to say 'I love you' way too quickly (he has to compensate for the other two somewhere doesn't he?)

Marc has said 'I love you' to Layla before, but very rarely and way less often that he wished he had. So Steven will help Marc there at one point.

After saying 'I love you' to Layla after they made love

Layla came back from the bathroom to cuddle with Steven in bed.

Steven : 'Marc says he loves you too'

*Layla looked at Steven a little surprised*

Steven : 'since it's easier for me to say it, I thought I could relay the message.'

Layla : 'He said that in your...mind?' She still didn't know what to call the times where they could speak privately.

Steven : 'yeah, when you were gone.'

Layla smiled : 'tell him I love him too.'

Weirdly enough, Steven is more comfortable with bisexuality than Marc is. Steven doesn't mind talking about it, or thinking about the possibility, or Jake telling him things about his relationship with Jean-Paul. He just shrugs off the possibility of being physical with a man, he's just not interested.

Marc on the other hand is UncomfortableTM about it. Because he wants to prevent himself from thinking about it, because he knows deep down...his sexuality is a big can of worms he doesn't want to open.

* I found a way to fit Marc/Steven into my fic that makes sense to me. So there's that.

Marc is Steven's exception. Because it is a pretty exceptional situation and the way they got there is too. They will get physical, but it's in their innerspace, which is again a pretty specific and unusual situation (and they do not look like identical twins in their innerspace).

But Marc isn't that much of an exception for Steven. Steven is still biromantic straight, so he had to fall madly in love with Marc to be able to get physical with him, even in their innerspace. And they won't be doing 'everything', both Steven and Marc have their limitations, things they aren't comfortable with.

They'll try things outside their mind later, whatever they can do, with Layla involved too.

Following everything I said though, Steven once in love with Marc will treat Marc like he treats Layla, like he treats everyone he's fallen for.

Marc sees a package on their drawer. There's a card, it just reads 'To my love, Steven ❤'

Marc : 'Layla? I think Steven left something for you in the bedroom'

Layla takes the package in her hand.

Layla : 'oh I don't think this one is for me'

Marc : 'whose is it?'

Layla, raising an eyebrow: 'who do you think? You, dummy' she says affectionately.

Marc : 'he bought something for me?'

Layla : 'Yes, he wanted to give you something special'

Marc looks the package over, but doesn't open it. Why is he feeling his face getting red? Steven bought something for me. He repeats in his head over and over again. What.

Layla : 'welcome to the exclusive club of 'being pampered by Steven'', she says teasingly.

like idc about works of this day and age that evoke any sort of freudian theory for their story but i do have them categorized in: the ones that do it unironically, that believe wholeheartedly that it's a normal and valid way to understand human relationships through and the ones that use it moreso as a visual and/or narrative framing to treat their actual themes with, especially banking off of pop knowledge of freudian imagery and theory.

Es fácil percatarse cómo en múltiples ocasiones el ser humano se expone a circunstancias que vulneran su integridad. Desde decir algo que socialmente no les favorece hasta embriagarse al punto de una intoxicación etílica y encima conducir de regreso a casa.

El hombre como especie encuentra más placer en la vulnerabilidad, en vivir al margen de la vida y la muerte, que en vivir la vida propiamente dicha.

Y es que ¿Qué es la vida sino se arriesga la misma para divertirse? Esta pregunta deja por un lado el placer y el gozo que solo se puede hallar en la tranquilidad y la armonía que ofrece el vivir la vida.

A estas personas que viven matándose física y psicológicamente, les es imposible darse aquello que jamás han tenido. Viven canjeando su tiempo, dinero y orgullo por un poco de aprobación social. Adoptan una actitud masoquista ante las exigencias del capitalismo, dónde parece estar bien humillarse con tal de tener un tiempo para autoflaguelarse con excesos que los dañan física y mentalmente; y son capaces de dejar el amor propio por un poco de compasión fingida de sus semejantes, que lo único en lo que se asemejan es que viven atrapados en el mismo círculo vicioso.

Pero claro, no queda de otra, más que resignarse y decir que eso es vivir la vida. Para mí es solo un lema de negación a la muerte.
