Imagine spawning into existence and you already had to fight for your life. But then it’s fixed, and you’re all fine. You get to say hello to a small handful of people you just saved and figure out where you are. You still have no idea. Barely a minute later, you’re immediately under attack again by an evil possessed puppet and a god with abandonment issues who is literally a child. They're both trying to murder your human witch.

While it has been proven that a host can fight off Belos possession if they have a strong emotional response, Raine is a puppet. We don’t know if Hooty is a special case or not, and regardless, they still can’t move, and it was only Hunter’s ability to move that led up to him gaining vital control. Belos isn’t leaving Raine’s body unless he wants to. And even then, there’s a very high chance Raine could die when he does. It’s possible that if he left them while they were a puppet they could be suspended in a technically still-living state until a solution is found, but, again, that’s if he feels like leaving, and I have a very strong feeling he’s not going to pass up the goldmine Raine gives him.

No matter if they fight, no one wants to seriously injure Raine. Not only that, the descendant of Caleb and Evelyn herself loves them to death. Only way that old man is leaving is if Raine fights him off, but Raine can only fight if they’re de-puppetified, but de-puppetifying risks dying right after Belos is kicked out. They’re trapped in a limbo lose-lose scenario and I am DELIGHTFULLY horrified
