My brain being scratched by the practicality and functionality of most of this list is not helping me fight the allegations
Polyamory Admin Core
Tumblr media
I asked my PCP for standing orders for STI/STD tests, so now my chart has an official diagnosis of "high risk sexual behaviors."
She was fascinated and impressed that the whole polycule has a standing expectation for getting tested every 3 months. So here are the other things we've implemented that I think would blow her mind:
A polycule Google calendar, color coordinated per person
A Calendly account to schedule dates
A set question list for monthly relationship check-ins
A polycule Discord server with channels including: status updates, requests, and spicy
A Google form for requesting unprotected sex
A spreadsheet with "stats" for each polycule member, such as allergies and dietary restrictions
The Sextionnaire
A frequently updated whiteboard tracking the different relationship types and configurations of the polycule

I hate to be the bearer of frustrating news, but in case some of you who frequent Founders Online (like I do) and have noticed an extreme spike of 503 “Service Temporarily Unavailable” errors, making access to the site impossible for periods of time, the team posted the explanation below:
Tumblr media
Founders Online performance issues
19 May 2025: Founders Online is experiencing periodic degraded performance owing to extreme spikes in traffic caused by excessive website crawling, associated with content scooping from AI platforms and other indexers. We are working on a viable fix within the constraints of our server resources.
This is very unfortunate and very disgusting. I’m glad that they are trying to fix the issue, but it breaks my heart that they even have to put in the effort. From personal experience working as a student technician in my university’s Preservation Department, where my primary task is to digitize all sorts of old materials—books, newspapers, photographs, etc, and collaborate on how those items should be handled and scanned so that their digital copies can be presented and made accessible in the right ways, it takes A LOT of work just to digitize one item. Almost all of the documents you see on Founders Online are digital copies of the book pages from where these transcriptions originated—series’ of the founders papers that were printed in the last 70-80 years by university presses. Books that, when Founders was launched 15 years ago, were all between a few years and many decades old, and difficult for the general public to access. Of course, I don’t know the Founders team’s exact process for making the archive when they first started, nor do I claim to be the preservation expert by any stretch of the imagination, but I have a big hunch that it took many hundreds of hours, and likely continues to do so for the remaining volumes they intend to add to the site, to make Founders Online as it appears and maintain its usually fast performance.
AI in general frustrates me, but to see that this extremely valuable archive has now gotten caught in the scooping net makes me equally sad and angry. If you want to gather documents from the site, but will later be offline, you have the ability through the site to download PDF files of individual documents and print them. Most of the material is also in the public domain as well (not all, however—any annotations to a document are copyright of the institution which originally published those physical volumes I mentioned). AI scooping this archive for information to feed to language learning models is a waste of time, energy, and money, and is a violation of copyright law. At the risk of causing performance issues and affecting the servers that make Founders possible, this activity is potentially detrimental to historic preservation and access to historical knowledge. Those hundreds of hours the teams behind the site have worked also come into play: this site is their baby, their hard work, and it’s being stolen. And as a result, everyone’s ability to easily use the site without issue is being affected.
I am extremely fortunate to be in a position where I have been able to acquire a personal backup system for what I primarily use Founders for (my volumes of The Papers of Alexander Hamilton), and more so in that through my university, I have access to the rest of the physical series that make up the archive. So this current issue with the site being slow on performance and frequently down does not inconvenience me much. But this is a privilege. Founders Online was created to get around that privilege and allow for everyone (with an Internet connection) to access these important historical documents. I cannot hammer down to you just how important and valuable that is. Founders Online is an invaluable resource that deserves to be maintained and protected. I’m thankful that the team behind it are working diligently to do just that, but they should never have had to combat AI stealing their hard work and affecting the usability of the site in the first place.

Sometimes it's frustrating having worked in video game retail and knowing anything about game/console prices and deals watching people just. Say things online
"Look at this nintendo add for the SNES you could get the console and super mario world for like $100! Companies never do that anymore they're so greedy hahaha"
Yes, companies still bundle consoles with games. And yes, often this means the games come at a reduced price. (Mario Kart World for Switch 2 is $50 in the bundle versus the $80 for physical. When Gamestop was bundling games and controllers with new ps5s to keep away scalpers in like 2022, the games included often would be discounted between $10 and $20 for that bundle.)
Don't get me wrong. Of course less than $200 for a console and a first party game would be swell these days BUT. When you decided to get up in arms over prices these days, did you adjust for inflation? (Because like. It's one thing if the new console you're doing comparisons with the old one is much more expensive even when factoring in inflation. But also like some of those old consoles adjusted for inflation are worth about the same if not more than a switch 2, then it's like...okay? At that point the prices aren't the problem. The root issue is the companies not paying you in accordance with rising inflation.)
Believe it or not YES. Nintendo still does console deals where you can buy their most recent home console with a first party game added in for free! (Listen to me. Listen. In 2021 and 2022 for Christmas it was possible to walk into a video game store and buy a $300 switch bundle that included Mario Kart 8 deluxe and like 3 months free Nintendo Online. In like 2022/2023 for Christmas they also did $350 switch oled bundles that included Mario Kart 8 deluxe and 3 months nintendo online for free. The price of a console for a $60 video game and 3 months of the online service. This isn't some mythic business practice that stopped happening in like 2005 or something. I promise.)
Yes obviously the companies are greedy. They use deals to pull you in to get you to spend more than you expected. They also often have more sales than you're even aware of because they benefit more from people paying full price. They underpay people and they use whatever excuses needed oftentimes to raise prices to keep that profit rising. But it does no one any real good other than allow people to get pissed off to lie or assume things which aren't true. There are so many reasons to dislike companies (esp. Nintendo), you don't need to rely on acting like things used to be so much better in cases that they're not, or treating things that are industry wide standards/issues as something one company is the sole perpetrator of.
Moral of the story, maybe perhaps like do a bit a research instead of assuming whatever thing that pisses you off greatly is 100% true, and direct your ire in the right direction. Ground yourself emotionally and mentally, know what's going on. Be pissed at corporations. You're allowed to be fuckin pissed at corporations. Just please know what tf you're talking about and what exactly the root issue is
#Sorry sorry I've been putting off making a post like this#There are many rightful reasons for people to be angry about the things we've been finding out since the Switch 2 announcement#But it's so fucking frustrating. People literally have been lying online and on youtube as ragebait about shit#Everyone wants to believe in this idea that Nintendo is the worst video game company in the world and the root of all evil#So they just believe anyone who goes ''look what they took from you!!'' or claims Nintendo is charging more money than everyone else or#paving the way for new industry standards (often untrue)#And the reason I've put off talking about it is that people are so reactionary about this that their gut reaction to anyone wanting them to#have any sense of perspective or get facts right is to call those people bootlickers#I mean. Let's get a sense of perspective right now. Are consoles these days expensive? Yes. Is Switch 2 the most expensive console on the#market? Hell no. That would go to the ps5 pro. A $700 console that doesn't even include the $80 disc drive you need to buy to play physical#games on it. You're not even required to buy Nintendo online or any other add ons to play a switch 2 out of the box.#Is the switch 2 the most expensive nintendo console to date? Run the launch prices (w/dates) for previous consoles through an inflation#calculator and see for yourself. Does it suck ass that they're pushing Nintendo online for all this shit it does? YES. I have refused to bu#Nintendo online or playstation plus because I hate it so much. I was around in the years before when you could do online Switch multiplayer#without spending money. I *praised* Nintendo pre-Nintendo online for being the only company who hadn't done a stupid online subscription.#But listen to me. They were the *last* of the big 3 to do that. And comparatively‚ it also has the least confusing subscription plans while#being then more cost effective and family friendly option than the others. I hate that these exist at all‚ but Nintendo is far from the#truest worstest and only evil here.#Anyways last example. Nintendo is not even the first company out of the 3 to break $60 with a launch title. Sony was doing that with PS5#before Totk even came out and MK World was even a blip on the horizon. Obviously shit's getting expensive and that sucks. But the idea that#Nintendo is the evil trailblazing more expensive games is untrue. 90% of Switch 2 games aren't over $60. And even if $80 games DO become th#new norm‚ may I remind you that we have had a $60 standard for over a decade now. We have been lucky for this. And the issue at the end of#the day isn't the rising price of these things. Inflation has always been a thing. The real issue is that no one can afford them because#wages aren't also adjusting with inflation. If companies would pay people properly‚ then games and consoles being more expensive wouldn't b#an issue. (also sidenote. Microsoft was the first to increase console prices with tariffs. While accessories and add ons jumped with price‚#Nintendo at least didn't increase the price of the base Switch 2 console or games when they released the tariff price adjustments)#So many things are shit right now. A lot of these things shouldn't be the norm and I don't blame anyone for hating those things. I also#don't like Nintendo as a company. But again. Do some research. Ground yourself. Get some perspective. Stop believing people who are doing#the equivalent of claiming cds and dvds are already dead and you can't buy them anymore#zessay

I found this super cool article that talks about the life of a Division I rower, and in it was a rough timetable for what a week would look like for them. This table is amazing because I know for a fact I would have put one together myself if I hands found this one!!! Obviously it’s naturally geared more towards modern au since the 1930s were nearly 100 years ago, but I’m sure it’s not too much different from what it was like back then!
Tumblr media
Here’s an example of a typical week for a Division I Rower created by Laura Simon, the lead recruiter at Yale University for the Women’s Team as of 2021.

ohmyGodwait i didn't see frankenstein or trainspotting when i was on my wild goose book search. the four books i have historically gone nuts about are missing.
#fucking what did i do with them in my last move!!!!#the other two not mentioned here are the catcher in the rye and no longer human. which made sense to be missing together.#but also if i don't find the catcher in the rye i'll lose my mind. i require it. for research.#could i just find it online? yeah. but i kept this specific paperback in my bedframe for five years and it's *bothering* me not finding it#(trying to retrace rn bc if i can figure out what i did with frankenstein i may find all of them. or at least frankenstein)#like. okay i haven't actually read tcitr since i tried to reread it when i was 15 and hated it. same thing happened with nlh at 19.#and both are probably a result of being *too* into them so now i have to like be in a specific headspace to read either#and trainspotting is just one of my favourite novels but i did lose my mind about it when i was 15.#so those three don't have a reason to have been somewhere else except that i'm specifically attached to them out of all of my books#but i was reading frankenstein around the time of my last move. BUT i was reading it digital. so my paperback should've been safe#however. iirc i was keeping the print copy in my backpack anyway. like as a backup. until i wasn't bc i stopped keeping as much in my bag.#so what did i do with it when i speed-packed my shit and left the city rage-style#ik i didn't have many books with me bc I left a bunch at my dad's when i moved due to lack of bookshelf#so. though i don't normally combine types of things when i pack. they're probably in with something else.#they're not with my DVDs i checked that box there were a couple manga volumes and that was it#........................... i didn't fucking see my CD box. oh my God of course i put them i put them in there#i had just gotten the trainspotting soundtrack on vinyl my book-music association was amped up#hope i just overlooked the box and it didn't wind up anywhere else#i mean only other place it could be is my dad's though so if i don't find it he would know exactly where it is#crisis tentatively averted time to dig through storage again

can we have some good dallas and houston brother moments i like... don't see enough of that lol
Hiiii manekiiii Y’know, Eric once said that he wished there had been more development with these two. Sharing their highs and lows. a dual perk that lets you do something like that. Quick shoutout to the Panic Room server and @ghousebox for the voice lines, they totally inspired this
————
They’ve gone over the plan dozens of times at this point, no need to remind everybody of the blueprints. This should be a quick in and out, under thirty minutes flat. Houston and Dallas stand against the side of the van, a comfortable yet tenuous silence blanketing them. Pre-heist jitters.
A soft click of a lighter illuminates Houston’s thoughts—Dallas is counting on him to do his job. I can’t mess this up.
The man in question holds out his lighter between his index and his thumb, glancing at the Ghost, a silent offer. Houston takes it, trying not to care. Nicotine fills the air with an aching burn, the both of them breathing in poison and exhaling their worries.
I’ll spot you, Dallas doesn’t say.
I know you will, his response audible somewhere in the space between clouds of twinning smoke.
When the cigarette burns out, the younger heister crushes the butt with a fist, holding his hand up to his brother. Dallas casually brushes the back of Houston’s hand with his own, half a fist bump, half a handshake; an acknowledgment.
The Ghost pulls the mask over his head, obscuring his face.
————
(Something goes wrong! Houston out of grenades so Dallas TOSSES him one and they work in tandem, Dallas wouldn’t be able to have a good angle so Houston is able to score the shot. But I do not know how to write this HELP)
————
They’re forced into a corner, taking a different route back to freedom. Heavy footsteps race in their direction, the both of them barreling through trees and shattering branches underneath their shoes. Dallas hears bullets whizzing past his ears, the crack of a round embedding itself into wood. He shouts at Houston to hurry up, a quick burst of inspiration as the Ghost starts the van. Muscle memory tricks him into reaching for a grenade when there’s nothing to be found.
Dallas just barely grasps the door handle, a panicked yell as he signals for Houston to step on the gas. They peel away before Dallas even shuts the door—cops are hot on their trail, firing at the escape vehicle. Gunpowder fills the air, sticks to their clothes as bullets clip the paint off of the van. The heisters cringe at the sound of metal being pierced, barely stopped by the flimsy box that was the only thing between them and certain death.
Houston tries to catch his breath and drive simultaneously, his veins bursting with adrenaline. For a solid minute it’s just the two of them, air conditioner put on blast as the engine hums. Dallas checks behind them again and again, gun drawn beneath their feet. Only when he puts it down does Houston finally relax.
“We’re in the clear,” he rasps, reality starting to hit him as he tries to calm his nerves.
“I almost can’t believe we did it,” the Crew Chief says, a slow smile spreading across his face as he vocalizes exactly what Houston was thinking. Dallas’ tacky mask stays on, but the Ghost can tell that he’s grinning. They lock eyes for a moment, relief and joy mixed up together.
They almost died. They almost died, yet their bodies weren’t cooling on the unforgiving ground. Sure, Houston will have to order new parts for the van but that’s a small price to pay considering. Considering—
In a move uncharacteristic of him, Houston grabs his brother’s wrist, raising their arms as if they’ve won a contest. His grip is tight as he shudders, betraying his fear. They’ve made it out alive and whole and well and—
“We did it.”

SUPERBOY #9 FINALLY ARRIVED IN THE MAIL!
the rest of the issues I already have and while I generally don’t like purchasing comics more than once so other people can enjoy the runs I also like, this was a special case as SB Vol 3 #9 1994 is the first appearance of King Shark and normally is around $70 online but I got these four for in a bundle for only $20!!
After I’m done with collecting this run, I might end up using eBay myself to sell off the issues I collected extra of from when I didn’t have a good record keeping system of the comics I had.
