Founders Online Search Results for letters written by Alexander Hamilton containing the phrase "my servant". Most of these letters were written during the Revolutionary War, with the results pictured dating between 1778-1781. All of the letters featured here pertain to travel (via horseback) and the need of supplies regarding Hamilton's unnamed "servant".

So uh... are we going to talk about this? Because the amount of questions I have. Especially in the context of writing TAI. As far as I can recall, I haven't seen a biographer explicitly talk about this. But there could just be something out there I have no knowledge of. 🤷🏼‍♀️

I've seen several people post about it and I'm so happy this is a thing because.

Jon having a historical crush on Jonah Magnus is my favorite flavour of jonelias. S1 Jon naming docs he doesn't want to work on 'do it for Jonah Magnus'. S1/2 Jon speaking to Jonah's portrait in his office when he needs to think out loud. S1 Jon looking through statements and going, "what would Jonah Magnus think about it?" Having embarassingly extensive knowledge about Jonah Magnus' lore. Finding his first 'letter to Jonah Magnus' statement and feeling his heart flutter as he tries to comprehend that Jonah Magnus read those exact words and held that letter in his hands. Idolizing Jonah Magnus to a point he's more of a fictional character in Jon's head than anything else.

This is a few months old, but it came up in my feed so:

It’s more likely that Hamilton named his son William after his uncle, William Hamilton, who had written to his nephew in March of 1797 (unfortunately, this letter has not been found). Hamilton wrote a lengthy reply on May 2, 1797, clearly excited to finally reconnect with his family. Soon after he started corresponding with his first cousin, Alexander Hamilton (William Hamilton’s son, who wrote in reply to Alexander’s May letter on behalf of William), in the same manner. This is just my speculation however. Nowhere in the surviving correspondence between the Hamilton cousins is this naming explicitly addressed. It is fair to consider though, considering the naming of the other Hamilton children.

William Stephen Hamilton would not be born until August 4, 1797.

anyone know how to find images of historical letters. like the physical letters with the original handwriting and everything untranscribed. all i can ever find are transcriptions and it's making me crazy i want to analyze handwriting i need to see that oldass parchment with my own eyes

So you all have the Marauders fandom that is mostly out of jkr's clutches. It's super gay and fun and we all love it.

BUT...what if I tell you about the Four Founders fandom where Jkr only has her the tip of her little pinky, giving us a LOT to work with. Where it's old magic, medieval fantasy with cottage core aesthetic, discovering Hogwarts, battles, royalty, found family, strangers to hostile friends to friends to lovers to enemies! and as usual pain...a lot of pain. This one is also gay just in case anyone was wondering.

I hate to be the bearer of frustrating news, but in case some of you who frequent Founders Online (like I do) and have noticed an extreme spike of 503 “Service Temporarily Unavailable” errors, making access to the site impossible for periods of time, the team posted the explanation below:

Founders Online performance issues

19 May 2025: Founders Online is experiencing periodic degraded performance owing to extreme spikes in traffic caused by excessive website crawling, associated with content scooping from AI platforms and other indexers. We are working on a viable fix within the constraints of our server resources.

This is very unfortunate and very disgusting. I’m glad that they are trying to fix the issue, but it breaks my heart that they even have to put in the effort. From personal experience working as a student technician in my university’s Preservation Department, where my primary task is to digitize all sorts of old materials—books, newspapers, photographs, etc, and collaborate on how those items should be handled and scanned so that their digital copies can be presented and made accessible in the right ways, it takes A LOT of work just to digitize one item. Almost all of the documents you see on Founders Online are digital copies of the book pages from where these transcriptions originated—series’ of the founders papers that were printed in the last 70-80 years by university presses. Books that, when Founders was launched 15 years ago, were all between a few years and many decades old, and difficult for the general public to access. Of course, I don’t know the Founders team’s exact process for making the archive when they first started, nor do I claim to be the preservation expert by any stretch of the imagination, but I have a big hunch that it took many hundreds of hours, and likely continues to do so for the remaining volumes they intend to add to the site, to make Founders Online as it appears and maintain its usually fast performance.

AI in general frustrates me, but to see that this extremely valuable archive has now gotten caught in the scooping net makes me equally sad and angry. If you want to gather documents from the site, but will later be offline, you have the ability through the site to download PDF files of individual documents and print them. Most of the material is also in the public domain as well (not all, however—any annotations to a document are copyright of the institution which originally published those physical volumes I mentioned). AI scooping this archive for information to feed to language learning models is a waste of time, energy, and money, and is a violation of copyright law. At the risk of causing performance issues and affecting the servers that make Founders possible, this activity is potentially detrimental to historic preservation and access to historical knowledge. Those hundreds of hours the teams behind the site have worked also come into play: this site is their baby, their hard work, and it’s being stolen. And as a result, everyone’s ability to easily use the site without issue is being affected.

I am extremely fortunate to be in a position where I have been able to acquire a personal backup system for what I primarily use Founders for (my volumes of The Papers of Alexander Hamilton), and more so in that through my university, I have access to the rest of the physical series that make up the archive. So this current issue with the site being slow on performance and frequently down does not inconvenience me much. But this is a privilege. Founders Online was created to get around that privilege and allow for everyone (with an Internet connection) to access these important historical documents. I cannot hammer down to you just how important and valuable that is. Founders Online is an invaluable resource that deserves to be maintained and protected. I’m thankful that the team behind it are working diligently to do just that, but they should never have had to combat AI stealing their hard work and affecting the usability of the site in the first place.

TMAGP THEORY

*no big spoilers, but stuff is mentioned*

So I am not one to feel as though any thoughts I have about any type of media I consume are correct, but I noticed something yesterday, and I need to know if I'm crazy or not.

I was continuing my tma relisten yesterday (because let's be real, who actually finished theirs on time) and I listened to MAG 148 - Extended Surveillance. This one is in season 4, right around when Jon is trying to figure out his connection to eye and what exactly it means for his humanity.

This one in particular is about Sunil Maraj, and his encounters with his coworker, Samson (he's referred to as Sam) Stiller, who is started to interact with the eye more and more. Of course, Sunil doesn't know this and he just writes a statement about his coworker being weird with security cameras, but Jon knows what's going on.

Now, I know it's a stretch. TMAGP Sam's full name is Samama, not Samson. Sunil and Samson work for a company that has a weird, wacky database that most people just dismiss. Samson, in this statement, doesn't like that he doesn't understand how the system works and is organized, and despite all of his coworkers telling his it's a waste of time, decides to look into it.

Doesn't that behavior sound familiar? A little bit like how TMAGP Sam doesn't like the OIAR computer system because it's weird and wacky and he doesn't really understand the filing system? So he's deciding to look into it? And possibly risk becoming marked or used by the eye????

Not to mention, in this statement, the eye is described (or maybe just implied) as using security cameras to do it's eye-looking(??). Which is a bit like how the eye is now using technology in TMAPG like computers and security cameras...

I'm not really sure, I listened to the episode last night as I fell asleep, and I haven't looked through the manuscript or relistened to the episode since then, so maybe I misheard or misinterpreted things, but there are an eerie amount of coincidences. I didn't do a great job explaining all these parallels, but I PROMISE it's fishy. GO LISTEN TO IT!!

Coincidences popping up in TMA writing isn't unheard of (Jon accidentally quoting the angler fish in season 5) but I feel like this one is maybe a bit too on the nose.

Unfortunately all that got him were seven uncomfortable years leading to an even more uncomfortable conversation with Dumbledore after he had apparently died. But while Harry was still considering his options between staying dead and Dumbledore's suggestion of somehow returning to finally defeat Voldemort once and for all, a third path was presented that would give him the chance to choose a different road to take on the day he'd first learned that Magic existed.

Entire story takes place between his birthday and getting on the train. Lots of help from the Goblins.

This is simply what my go to is with excluding stuff, i just wanted to share it to tell people.

It is okay to Exclude and/or Include as many tags as you like for a given fandome just be aware the smaller the fandom is the bigger the impact of many include/exclude of tags can have.
