Mitsuya has a hard time getting over your death. He's constantly haunted by the feeling that he somehow failed to protect you, even though your death had nothing to do with him and everyone around him always insists on the fact that there's nothing he could have done to prevent it.

His grief gets so bad that taking care of himself becomes the last thing on his mind. He neglects his appearance and barely eats anymore, he simply can't find the motivation to carry on with his life as if nothing happened. The only thing he looks forward to every day is going back to sleep.

His dreams have become a sanctuary, a safe place where death doesn't exist and the two of you can finally reunite.

— MIKEY.

Mikey keeps a stoic expression the entire time he's being told the news. He's biting his tongue, trying not to let his emotions show.

He feels his heart break into a thousand pieces as fear, anger, and grief all overtake him at once. He wants to scream, to lash out, to hit something. But he doesn't say a single word. He closes his eyes for a moment, taking a deep breath to calm himself down.

He then nods curtly before exiting the room and heading to a quiet place where he can gather his thoughts. The world around him feels distant, everything turning into white noise as he struggles to come to terms with what he's just been told.

Mikey hadn't been in touch with you for nearly a decade and he's unsure if he's even supposed to mourn you as intensely as he does, not knowing if you still remembered or even cared about him after all those years.

All he knows is that he did still care about you, and your death feels like a cruel joke life played on him, a punishment that cuts him to the core for all the crimes he's committed.

— CHIFUYU.

Chifuyu completely isolates himself from the world. The moment he hears about your death, he breaks down and cries inconsolably for a solid hour, completely shattered by the loss of yet another friend.

He blames himself for not having done enough to save you, and your death brings back the same overwhelming emotions he experienced when he lost Baji.

With a heavy heart, he visits your grave every day and places a single flower on top of your gravestone, silently expressing his love and respect for you. He takes a moment to collect himself then heads to Baji's resting place where he repeats the same ritual and prays that the pain of losing his best friends will eventually get better.

— HANMA.

Hanma acts like he doesn't care. He'll put on a tough façade, tell everyone he never even cared about you and laugh in their faces when they try to offer condolences. He goes so far as to get defensive when anyone dares to suggest that he had any emotional attachment to you.

You were nothing but a careless brat who threw herself head first into the lion's den despite having been warned of the risks beforehand. Why would he feel any sort of empathy? Why would he care?

But this façade crumbles down as soon as he's alone in the funeral home, staring down at your open casket.

He slowly takes a step closer, looking at your lifeless body, the memory of you lying on the ground, blood pouring out of your wounds flashing through his mind.

He reaches out a shaky hand to cup your face but retracts it right away when he feels the coldness of your skin, a single tear escaping from his eye.

He doesn't let it show, but he spends the rest of his life missing you.

— KISAKI.

Kisaki doesn't react. At least, not from the outside. He keeps his head down and continues flipping through his papers, as if the words he just heard held little to no importance to him.

He might even hum dismissively and wave off whoever brought him the news, not bothering to say anything else.

But anyone who knows him knows that Kisaki is seething with anger beneath the surface.

He doesn't allow himself to dwell on it for too long, though; instead, he channels all those hidden emotions into plotting the perfect revenge. He meticulously devises a plan to make everyone involved with your murder pay, calculating each step to ensure maximum damage.

Regardless of how long it takes, whether it be months or even years, Kisaki will make sure that your death doesn't go unpunished.

Sanzu tries to forget by sleeping with other women. He wants to move on, and he wants to do it fast.

But he'll be damned if forgetting you was an easy task.

He might try to convince himself that it's not intentional, but he often finds himself gravitating towards women who resemble you in some way. Whether it's the color of their skin or similarities in hair color or style, he can't deny that he still longs for you and looks for you in every woman he picks.

He'll take them from behind and pretend they're you, the palm of his hand softly sliding up their back as if you were suddenly the one moaning for more underneath him. He'll probably moan out your name at some point, not giving a damn about getting a negative reaction from the nameless girl he's using.

Miguel gives you a nervous smile as he hands you your gift, wrapped neatly in pastel pink paper with a white bow. You bounce on your heels as you tear through the paper, silently mourning the nice wrapping. It’s a bouquet, well, a Lego bouquet. You’ve seen them in the store a few times before, always drawn to them, fascinated by the way all those little pieces come together to make something that hardly looks like a toy at all. But you refused to buy one for yourself, it would be cringy, the same as buying real flowers for yourself it just looks a little sad.

You’re confused though. It’s still in its box. Anytime Miguel has given you one of his creations or shown you one, it’s always already put together. It’s his thing, building and modifying them, elevating them to a higher form.

His face falls at the expression on your own. “Do you not like it? I—I can return it and get you something else, it’s really not a problem, I promise. I just thought since you like flowers, and you liked when I put together that Lego version of Van Gogh’s Starry Night, so I just thought—”

“No, no, I like it, I love it actually, it’s just…usually you put the Legos together then give it to me?” You explain, hoping you don’t sound ungrateful or like a spoiled brat.

Miguel’s face falls even further. “I can put it together if you want, I’m sorry I thought maybe—never mind here, I’ll take it home with me and bring it back to you tomorrow.”

He tries to take it back from you, but you hug it against your chest. “You thought what?”

His eyes are on the floor, and he shifts his weight. “Maybe we could build it together?”

You swear you’re the Grinch or something because your heart grows ten sizes, the sweetness of his response making you smile like a lovestruck teen. “You want to build it with me?”

He nods. “Yeah, but if you don’t want to, or you want something else…”

You grab his hand and drag him over to your kitchen table, setting the box down. “Miguel, I love it, and I would love to build it with you. Want to start now?”

Now he looks like a lovesick teen. “Really?”

You open the box and start separating out the Legos. “Yes, really, now come on, you’re the professional here. How do we get started?”

my take on the OFMD s2 finale: fuck that

(major spoilers continuing from here)

it’s sweet that the crew now also has zheng, auntie, spanish jackie and the swede is back, the reunion kiss was the sweetest thing ever, i loved lucius and pete’s wedding etc etc but there’s some things i can’t look past.

let’s get into izzy. izzy went through a lot this season. he started off as someone we were meant to dislike and slowly evolved into the only reason the crew was alive and functional. they became his family, and he became their new, true leader. their new unicorn, if you will. they cared for him, they loved him, and he loved them back. hell, he even had that sweet speech about piracy that made me tear up!

but then he died. and this isn’t the bury your gays trope, since the show has dozens of happy gay people and a lot of queer joy, but the redemption through death trope - or at least a poor attempt at him.

look at me. izzy got all the redemption he needed. he proved himself. he was happy. he was content. he had a good life ahead of him. and then he died.

his final words didn’t even mean anything, because ed still left the crew (along with stede). and this is sweet because they got to fulfill their dreams of having an inn, but this would have been better if izzy’s speech was just slightly different. or if it was like it canonically is, then it should have been established the crew was going to visit, or the inn was temporary, or ANYTHING.

back to izzy - i’m not mad he died. i’m mad the timing was horrendously bad. a single 28 minute episode is not enough to have ed’s character arc evolve, a sweet reunion, lots of drama and comedy, kill izzy off, have a lupete wedding, and have gentlebeard stay behind to have an inn. there should have been one or two extra episodes. there should have been more time to mourn izzy! i was sobbing my ass off and the show had already moved on to the wedding - i mean, what?? are we just not meant to care? i get that he had that burial, and he was shown as the last frame in the show yes, but how much tribute is that? stede’s dialogue made it seem like he barely cared when we knew the two had gotten closer! i get that he may have had conflicting emotions and this show is a comedy, but come on, people, you can do better!

the inn idea is sweet but i don’t see it lasting. the fourth episode really makes me wary of this idea because those two girls really fucking hated that domestic lifestyle bro!!! also, ed just accepted himself as a pirate outside of blackbeard, he just forgets that life? that’s bullshit. you can’t just spend the entire season exploring ed’s character as a pirate and then drop the pirate part. you can’t!!!

still mad about izzy. still confused about why everyone was in such high spirits after his death despite, you know, them getting along with him amazingly this season and loving him so deeply. but whatever, i too would be back at sea and giggling after my (at heart) captain died. in fact, i would even get married after that! yay, ring those bells! (/sarc)

i loved the wedding but you cannot tell me it wouldn’t have been better if there had just been more time between izzy’s death and it.

also. i’m pretty sure so many other characters walked off wounds in that exact area izzy got shot in... but i guess... plot armor??

tl;dr: i’m pissed off at OFMD’s season two ending, especially the way izzy’s death was handled.

yeah, i’m not happy with this. at least put me out my misery and announce this is the last season. dragging it on for longer would not work.

ending words: i would have been much more content with izzy dying if he was given more time, if his death was handled better, and if his speech had meant anything at fucking all to ed.

I have some earth-shattering observations for your consideration.

I can’t give you a solid meta (yet) because we don’t have the full chapter (YET...grrr). But. I mean. You should be made aware. We did get quite a lot more than I think many of you realize.

1. Title: “Light Fades to Rain”

So...that’s a reference to chapter 1 if I ever saw one.

Specifically to All Might in chapter 1.

Specifically to the moment when All Might saved Katsuki’s life.

Actually, did you notice...All Might came up a lot this chapter?

...these past few chapters?*

2. What the noumu truly represent

Remember when AFO hinted there was a purpose behind the creation of the noumu?

Do you find it weird that all the noumu created are basically graded on a scale of 1 to All Might?

TomurAFO even brags about how he’s got strength on par with All Might.

And this chapter he asked Amajiki if "he really thinks prime All Might would die from such an attack.”

It’s like AFO’s been trying to piece different people together to...create All Might.

3. Apparently Katsuki is still preoccupied with whether or not he can match Izuku’s pace

It’s not the first time this theme has come up. Not in the slightest.

Apparently, Katsuki’s potentially final thought is: "Can I still keep keep up with you, Izuku?"

Which, first of all, MUST be a call back to the Second.

And second of all, you should already know what I have to say about Katsuki using Izuku’s real name.

We’re basically told the Second’s quirk was activated this chapter.

4. The mask comes off

Katsuki’s mask is gone now. In exchange for...a very bloody mouth.

Like Yagi is prone to, huh.

Weird.

Wouldn’t it be wild if Katsuki, like, kept paralleling All Might in all these uncanny ways?

5. He’s dead?

Look, why would Katsuki have a whole weird near-death-ghosts-link-up experience with All Might’s OFA vestige and lament that he never asked All Might to sign his trading card?

Because Katsuki is about to die?

Maybe.

Nah.

But then the only other possibility is that...

All Might is about to die?

6. APOLLO NO

So.

Remember that time I told you guys about how this

could be translated to mean “greatest heroes” instead of “greatest hero?”

I take that back now.

tl;dr

Look, I don’t know exactly what’s happening like to the minute detail. But I have seen enough Dragonball Z to know where this is going.

If I had to put words to it with the caveat that there are still other things that could change this, I would go with:

MHA has been asking the question of how to recreate All Might. One glaringly obvious answer to that is the formula Victory (Katsuki) + Rescue (Izuku) = All Might.

If the Second’s quirk is actually Switch, then All Might’s vestige inside OFA may act as a blank quirk or wild card that can be swapped for anyone “equivalent.”

All Might’s vestige...or some aspect of All Might himself may have just jumped in to save Katsuki (for the last time).

Is Yagi in the real world dead? I don’t know. He could be...hurt...amnesiac (HEROES RISING)...unaffected...I really don’t know.

I just think it’s conspicuous that chapter 1 narrator Izuku says “This is the story of how I became the greatest hero.”

Like...literally? Literally--or figuratively even--became All Might?

hi i’m so glad you asked this because it gives me the chance to talk about what i consider to be one of the funniest series of events in the archie sonic series

unfortunately there’s a bit to explain here (as is usually the case with the archie sonic series), but i think it’s worth it for the FULL cultural impact of this one specific panel

lore dump below the readmore, and spoilers for archie sonic i guess? idk the series ended in like 2017 lmao

TL DR: shadow and tails mourn the death of one of the least popular characters in all of sonic history

so. let me introduce you to tommy turtle.

in the 117th chapter of archie sonic, sonic goes undercover to rescue a childhood friend of his named tommy. when robotnik took over the world years ago, everyone thought lil' tommy had been killed or roboticized - turns out, tommy is alive and has been living in enemy territory for quite some time!

anyways, surprise surprise turns out this was all an elaborate trap organized by robotnik and one of his spies named sleuth “doggy” dawg (which is the best name for any character ever). sonic and tommy make an elaborate escape where sonic uses him as a skateboard - unfortunately, a grenade gets in the way of their happy ending, and tommy turtle sacrifices himself to get sonic out of there alive.

tommy, as a character, was created to have a bold sacrifice, live for one issue, and give sonic a heartbreaking lesson on friendship or whatever.

here's the problem: the writers kept bringing tommy turtle back.

about 20 issues later, sonic goes on ANOTHER undercover mission and finds tommy AGAIN, who claims he survived the grenade because he hid in his shell.

unfortunately, this tommy turns out to be an impostor - a robotic duplicate that infiltrates sonic’s home, tries to kill him, and then nearly kills sonic’s robot dad.

so tommy is gone for real now, right?

NOPE! after this, the freedom fighters set out on ANOTHER undercover mission to find tommy AGAIN, who is about to be executed by eggman’s robots. at the very last second, he somehow outruns his fated death once more.

for some reason, this cartoon turtle simply cannot die.

after he’s rescued, tommy keeps showing up in random arcs of the comic. he has a mini story about how he isn’t good at anything. he saves three of the freedom fighters from being electrocuted to death by using a leather glove. when sonic, shadow, and metal sonic have an epic battle over a four-issue arc, tommy is just... THERE.

despite tommy getting a decent amount of time in the story, he paled in comparison to the rest of the characters in terms of personality, motivation, and general charm. because of this, he was relatively unpopular in the archie sonic community (which is a kind way to put that SO MANY PEOPLE HATED THIS IMMORTAL TURTLE).

thus begins the downfall of tommy turtle.

as a member of the freedom fighters, tommy was included in all of the wacky science shenanigans because i guess that’s what the writers decided he was good at?? in this period of his seemingly eternal life, tommy helps the gang study nanites (microscopic robots), which suddenly have a reaction to tommy. the robots conform to his seemingly indestructible shell, and give tommy… shapeshifting abilities. tommy turtle gains the ability to grow wings, fly with a jetpack, and make his already indestructible shell extremely powerful.

however, when the head writers of the series changed around this time, the new writers began to wrap up old storylines and characters that previous writers had left unresolved. and one of the first things the new team did was finally complete the tommy turtle saga.

those nanites that gave tommy turtle superpowers? turns out, they’re under the control of one of robotnik’s evil AI programs called A.D.A.M, who has secretly been working on a master plan to become an all-powerful being. his secret weapon? tommy turtle.

A.D.A.M, now controlling tommy, wreaks havoc among the freedom fighters, kidnaps shadow and tails, and uses both super shadow and turbo tails (aka the super version of tails in archie sonic - it’s just tails wearing a cape) to summon every chaos emerald in the universe. note that archie sonic has very different chaos emerald lore than the games, there’s like... a bajillion of them. just go with it

sonic goes into his super form and fights a super version of A.D.A.M/tommy while super shadow and turbo tails chaos control the emeralds to a different dimension - that way, A.D.A.M. can no longer harness their power.

(i'm very obsessed with the panel of eggman going "WAKE UP!! GET OUT!!" to the two superpowered animals)

once the emeralds are gone, tommy takes control of his body again - however, his survival is temporary this time. tommy can't remove the nanites from his body, and there's no way to stop A.D.A.M. from returning. with the eggman fleet about to take both him and super sonic out, there's really only one thing for him to do.

tommy finally does the one thing he has constantly failed at - he sacrifices himself and dies.

tommy turtle is dead, for good this time.

finally, we get to the tails and shadow panel. tails mourns the loss of a friend, a fellow freedom fighter that had been given so many chances to try again but ultimately gave his life so the rest of the world have that same chance. and shadow is also there.

the funniest thing here is that shadow honestly had no goddamn idea who the hell tommy turtle was or why he was there, so i think he's mostly just inconvenienced by this whole event lmao

They might not wear it all the time, but they do have rings! But these two? You put their photos right next to each other, and it looks like someone told them to each buy a ring without knowing what the other even looked like 🤭☕

His is some form of gold. Still doesn't fit... And hers, are silver, dull and fucking loose!!!

And he's a dog who, like his Dad, loves to show affection, and receive it. There's no way, Dodger would avoid people, unless, and my dog is like this, they've had a bad experience with that person, and they don't trust them. Even just the scent might have them stay away. 🤔🧐

TL;DR

🎄 is an angel sent from the heavens to have helped me. 👸 is SAVAGE today with the sick burns. Albitch looks decent, but her positions, and the fact that literally EVERYTHING but the ring shines is another Red Flag 🚩(we're about to run out of room for these flags). Chris and her have rings that don't fucking match. Dodger might be having a happy Thanksgiving because his wicked Step-Mother is as far from MA as she can be (Green card, what? She doesn't know her🤭)

I have some Thoughts about Knubbler's role in Army of the Doomstar.

I keep going back and forth on whether or not I like what they did with him in the movie. Originally I didn't buy Knubbler's character going from scumbag music producer to Yoda. My theory is that making Knubbler the spiritual guide was just a way for Brendon Small to squeeze his favorite character into the movie. Murderface's lines about Knubbler being the spiritual musical guide were my thoughts exactly, and Knubbler's "Don't overthink it" was Brendon begging the audience to suspend their disbelief and let him voice Knubbler again for 20 minutes even though the character doesn't fit the part. I sat for a while thinking to myself, "Could the guide have been an entirely new character with no change to the plot?", and for a while I thought the answer was yes.

On the other hand, Spiritual Guide Knubbler has grown on me. He's spent something like 30-40 years in the music industry so he has the technical understanding to train the band. He knows how to get Dethklok to get their shit together, although he's gotten better at it since Writersklok apparently. His speech about music having the power to change people's lives connects to his introduction in Dethwater where "Murmaider" literally did just that. I just want to know how Knubbler became such a strong believer in the Church of the Black Klok when the last time we saw him he was trying to convince Nathan that "Skit Skat Skittly Doo" could go platinum.

Regarding his death, I'm on team "It was right for him to die". As much as I would love it if he lived (trapdoor escape?), I think it would cheapen his role in the movie up to that point. There's a reason "Death of the Mentor" is such a common trope. It gives the band someone concrete to mourn and raises the stakes. They have to put into practice what they learned about watering the tree: what to do when they failed.

Knubbler died doing what he loved: mixing an awesome song. I just wish he'd died in a snazzier outfit. Also my dickface shipper heart is broken, but I'm coping with fanfiction. *sob* TL;DR: Mixed feelings about him being the guide, but I'm coming around to it. Watch this space for more meta and fanfic about this idiotic, drug-mongering piece of shit.

Me: So Benji Mahmoud could have been an incredibly important and dynamic character, with relevant ties to multiple themes Prince Lestat did a good job pulling on. I would have been real happy to have seen more of his character and, since I didn't, I guess I'll settle for writing about it here.

I've been feeling pulled to post a lot of head canons that involve Benji lately and I think I'm starting to kinda stumble across why it all of a sudden feels important to me.

Like a lot of things in this fandom, it actually starts with Daniel.

Daniel is the only character we see in the original TVC trilogy, in real time, being human and then being brought into the blood. He's just Some Guy who happens to start all this shit that blows out 13 books. And that's relatable. Most series have that character through which the reader comes into the world of the story. It's an established narrative technique.

And then we get the final TVC trilogy, the three books we never thought we'd get because Anne kinda finished the series a decade before and went on to bigger and better things.

So we get the final trilogy. In which we are introduced to a blond, male character, human when we meet him but, oh no, he gets involved with vampires and ultimately ends up begging to be turned, then spends the rest of the series as a vampire.

Stop me if you've heard this story before.

Now I've got nothing against Viktor. His romance with Rose seems sweet, and he's always going to have a bit of the centre stage just because he's the literal genetic clone of our main protagonist, Lestat. It's a bit hokey but, you know, so is a lot of what we ended up with in the later books. We're just grateful it didn't all end with Blood Canticle and now weed out the things we like.

It's just... I can't help thinking an existing youthful vampire from TVC would have given deeper resonance to the story than introducing a new character with a similar trajectory did.

What might the last trilogy might have been like if Benji—the third human-turned-vampire we meet between these two characters—had been just a little bit more utilised. Not as a love interest, or a plot point, but for himself. Cause just his placement in time and circumstance offers a lot of narrative potential.

We first meet Benji Mahmoud as an important character in Armand's recovery after he attempts suicide. He asks to be made into a vampire, but isn't obsessed by it, pretty much accepts it and moves on when Armand tells him it can't be done. ("Oh, never. I don't have such a power. It's never done." "Then who made you?" "I was born out of a black egg." - TVA)

There's a lot of a sense that he and his companion Sybelle are replacements to a writer who no longer wished to write about Daniel in Armand's emotional trajectory, and I know that put me off both these characters for years. But the side effect is, we get a continuity to show Armand doesn't just stop after Daniel walks out on him, and can choose to read that Armand was hurting and traumatised when recounting these events to David.

Back to Benji. When Benji is turned, he is 12 years old and it's the end of 1998. There's a reason I like both of these things: 12 years old is just about the youngest I've heard any us fans picking up the TVC series of books (omg that's way too young for this content, my friends, I mourn all our brain chemistry), and the birth year of 1986 makes Benji not just a millennial, but lot closer in age and experience to a lot of us than the far off birth year of 1952 for Daniel-the-Baby-Boomer. I also think it would have been a lot easier to remember to read Daniel as not a millennial had there been another character front and centre who was.

The way I see it, Benji could have added so much nuance as a character of TVC if he'd been fleshed out. Most of the time if I remember to think of Benji in canon, he seems like the faded middle child, a plot point with a name in Prince Lestat, nothing resembling a fully fleshed out character.

And that makes me sad. Sad for his character, and sad for us. I'm not saying get rid of Viktor, don't get me wrong, I'm just saying that in a cast of 183282 vampires, there was surely enough room to do more with Benji than give him a radio show recorded within the walls of Trinity Gate.

Like, just off the top of my head: Did he ever leave those walls? Was he still as much of a smart ass with a commentary on everything after 20 years in the blood? What did he figure out that he liked to do with his time when he wasn't recording? Did he remain close to Sybelle? How did he feel about forever holding the visage of a 12 year old? What kind of evil doers did he hunt? What was his relationship with Armand? What did he think of Daniel? Was it a bit awkward coming face to face with his maker, Marius, after so long? Was he included with the guys whenever Armand, Lestat and Louis caught up? Is he more like Daniel at court, really fitting in more amongst the more ancient characters, or does he prefer coming across as one of the wiser young ones when he visits Auvergne?

Hell, if Viktor is basically Lestat's son and Benji is kinda Armand's son, what do the interactions of that Next Generation look like??

Conversely, what were Armand's thoughts beyond the immediate aftermath of Benji and Sybelle having been brought into the blood? Did he lose interest in Benji after Marius turned him? Was he protective of him? Were there times when he looked at Benji and felt woefully guilty about Claudia who died for the offence of being a child vampire? Was Benji a way for Armand to heal the mistakes he had made with both Claudia and Daniel in different ways before him? Louis and Benji live in the same house for at least 10 years together; what were their interactions like and did Armand have any thoughts on those?

so, for context, last journey is about someone losing their partner / close friend / loved one / whatever else, either due to suicide or something else. and angel care is basically the aftermath, hence the lyrics referencing last journey!!

helena is still only 24 at the time of re6 (yes she's YOUNGER than SHERRY) and his "no, we're sticking together," isn't a sign of romance or whatever, it's a sign of duty. that he still needs to get helena out and safe and to fix everything. at the end when ada gives him everything they need to prove their innocence, he has a moment where he looks out of nowhere, maybe to think about the choice he made. that yes, technically he could've gone after ada to at least get more answers or SOMETHING. but he was not going to let helena just be on her own. remember he literally had to carry her because she was like constantly dying lmao

the few things that he does have, is his personal desire for ada, but it does not supercede his moral duty. to protect the country or whatever.

but that being said, i think it would be so interesting to see him backstabbing the government or faking his death. he knows that he's seen as a weapon, an asset and barely a person. (we see this more with damnation and vendetta)

i've said it before- but leon without ada is so fundamentally boring. he has no real interesting info about him if you remove ada from his history. (yes this is to attack leon stans, not sorry)

characters should be fleshed out, have flaws, have desires, have conflicting morals, have things that they have to go through that go against their personality so they can actually show who they are as a character. remove ada from leon and he's a boring, morally good, hero with no personal desire, no real backstory other than "trauma" and he DOESN'T EVEN GO TO THERAPY.

(also the babyifcation of leon on tiktok disturbs me to no end)

tl;dr i think that if ada did die, it would ruin leon. knowing that he had almost always put personal desire on the back burner behind his moral duties and that he trusted ada to always survive somehow- and the one time that he doesn't go after her and he finds out that she did die- it would ruin him

Okay Lunter shippers, for those who don’t know last night Zeno (hunter’s VA) changed his display name to 'hunter noceda'. It only lasted for a couple of hours but that was enough to gain attention on twitter.

What does mean?
 Well, that’s the problem. We aren’t sure. As most of you are familiar with, the majority of the fandom sees Luz and Hunter as 'siblings', to them this basically confirms, that Camila basically adopts Hunter, Then there are others that are just dubious of it and shrug it off as a troll, as Zeno has been known to do.

And I’ve been in my thoughts for that past day and spoke with a couple of friends. So the most important first thing to say is that Zeno is just a voice actor. The ONLY people that have the power to make anything CANON are the WRITERS or the CREATOR themselves. No one else, while yes there are people who work on creating the episodes they CAN NOT magically make things canon. Not storyboard artists, not animators, and definitely not VAs.

This could be hinting at the direction of where the show is going but again, nothing is confirmed.

Also, it’s okay to mourn it. I kinda did that too. Grieved during those hours Zeno had that up, I was still putting my thoughts together. Also for the love of everything don’t attack anyone who continues to ship it, it’s not worth your time putting a negative post about 'now its confirm so weird to ship it'. Come on, there is no SOLID confirmation they see each other as EXPLICIT siblings.

What if does become canon? Well, it’s hard to say. I’ve been in the TTS fandom where people actively ignored the creator’s intent of Cass/Rapunzel being 'sisters' and continue to ship despite it. And that’s with Cass and Rapunzel having the same parental figure at one point but at different times. And you don’t see them get shit for. The only difference is that Cassunzel is wlw ship while Lunter is a m/f ship. Watch as the same people who ship Cassunzel are the same people that are going to shit on the Lunter shippers if it does siblings canon. Double standards is a bitch.

I’m no stranger to completely ignoring canon endings. I’ve watched BOTH Voltron and TOA completely collapsed in their endings. ROTT who? Voltron s8 who?

Plus, why now if that’s what their intentions were? You should have established it sooner like with King. Then people wouldn’t have jumped on the shipping train. Now you have people that are too emotionally attached to the ship (such as myself) and do what?

TL; DR Luz and Hunter’s relationship is still open to interpretation. Personally, I would like to be that way. It’s ultimately up to you whether you feel comfortable continuing to ship it.

As for me, I fear that it is a hint of where the show wants to take their relationship. My view of their relationship was something very reminiscent of the dynamic I had with my high school crush rather than 'siblings'. I would find it strange that they would try to confirm sibling dynamic on them this late in the show and given the earlier concepts of the show. Half of me wants to step back but the other half wants to continue. I still have so many ideas left for them. And Goldenlight week is coming up too. So for now I’ll keep posting, unless Dana says something. Maybe I’ll sprinkle some more platonic stuff I’ve been putting on the back burner.

And no one asked, and this is in no way a defense so much as it is me explaining why I dig them (which circles back to a defense I GUESS lmao) - below the cut:

First you got this well meaning guy who always takes a bit of time to process and come to his own conclusions, thinks about how people feel and how he feels in relation to them, considers all the nuances and therefore comes across as a "himbo" until wham! He hits you with some 99 level insight that is just so tasty because of how simply he conveys it. Lumpiest brain ever. Very crunchy.

Conversely you got this girl who is very assured in her beliefs, knows her own mind/stance on things if you asked her, has a certain pragmatic ruthlessness that he doesn't. Which can I just say, is the tastiest character trait ever.

Their interaction in chapter 63 is so good at demonstrating this - two different viewpoints following their victory over the Death Paintings. She's back to business as usual, he's fixated on how Eso mourned Kechizu (panels are read right to left )

So putting these two dynamics together you're bound to get two different approaches to a situation and that is how shenanigans are born.

i, like many others, discovered blaseball during the pandemic. i discovered it in... august? maybe? i think i "joined" around season 7, and really joined around season 10.

2020 was a rough year for me. 2021 was, too. in january 2021, i went to a residential treatment center. i was there until august 2021 (which is actually an incredibly short stay). the expansion era (seasons 12-24) happened march 2021 thru july 2021. it ended july 30th. i got out august 6th. literally like 6 fucking days. i am still pissed about this btw

anyway! i was 15 when i joined blaseball. im 18 now. im an adult. my first team, back in summer o' 2020, was the boston flowers. then i fluted to the shoe thieves. then the lift. and i was with the data witches during the coffee cup. i had fun on all of those teams! i even roleplayed some characters on twitter (i ran one of the val hitherto accounts, a kit honey account and jason datablase). (if you remember me from the first rp server i am so sorry. i don't remember what i said/did but im 90% sure it sucked).

throughout treatment, i kept blaseball close to my heart. my friends were able to send me letters, and i asked them to keep me updated on blaseball. they didn't, and at first, i was pretty upset. but when i got back, i understood why. there's really no way to explain the expansion era. even the wiki struggled. there was just.... so much. all the time. (although, when i broke up with my then-gf via mail, she sent me back a long letter explaining everything that happened in blaseball between seasons 12 and... 16? maybe?). nevertheless, my love for the splort persisted. i wrote fanfic in treatment, despite not knowing whether or not these characters would be alive when i got to get on the internet again. in hindsight, i probably could have snuck on blaseball.com on the computers, but some of the staff were just cruel. i would have been banned from using the computers at all, or from being alone near devices, or maybe from going outside, if a TL was having a particularly bad day. all of that aside: i loved and i created within a space that, looking back, was hostile. more hostile than i realized. i drew so much art, none of which i will be posting because i couldn't use reference images and the anatomy is so bad. i also listened to the garages. god, i listened to so much garages. suicide warning for this last part of the paragraph -- the night i had decided to kill myself, i put on music while waiting for others to go to sleep, and in the feedback (night) came on. the "i don't know i'd get you back" really, really dug deep. obviously, i didn't commit, and i have blaseball to (partially) thank for that.

i wouldn't say blaseball, specifically, saved my life. i would have found other songs that made me feel okay. other communities, other interests. but blaseball offered all of that. and, above all: it offered a creative space.

blaseball is unique in that fans create player and team lore, but it still gives a foundation for these. it's easier than making your own story from scratch, and (sometimes) easier than making ocs for your favorite piece of media. allowing that much creativity in a place with the basic building blocks of plot and world building & not much else is what drove many ppl to enjoy blaseball, including me. especially in the pandemic, when everyone was low on energy and motivation. i haven't shared a sizeable fraction of the blaseball art and fics i have created. i created so much because of this game!

i am going to love these characters until the end of time. i am going to carry a piece of them with me forever. literally. i have so many blaseball headmates. and, truly, i do have them and other headmates to thank for helping me get out of that place. they've done more than blaseball itself has. but, blaseball was the right thing at the right time: a mixture of community, music, characters to project onto, and characters to photocopy into my brain forever (the last part wasn't intentional, of course, but it did help).

blaseball will always be important to me, as all of my special interests are, past and present. i am forever changed because of it, but like, i'm 98% sure it's for the better. like, homestuck changed me, but that was 70% for the worse, probably. so it didn't have as much of a negative impact on me as homestuck did! which, like, is a bar so low it's in the sixth circle stadium, but i'll count it as a win.

i don't know how to end this rant. really, it's been amazing. i love this community and will continue to. i will continue to create blaseball content for as long as my autistic heart latches onto it, which can be, like, another two months or another ten years. who knows? not me. and i have to be okay with not knowing.

Ed's bored of the underworld. So when this up-and-comer strolls in and starts evading his security, he's more than happy to keep an eye on the situation. Breaking into (and out of) the underworld, on a lark? Fascinating.

For his part, Stede (and his crew of helpers, maybe from different realms, demigods offering boons etc) is in over his head, learning so much but somehow not enough, and really actually mostly looking forward to seeing Blackbeard at the end of each attempt.

They fall for each other, but Stede escapes... and meets Izzy, Ed's estranged husband.

Does he put them back together? Would that even be for the best? After all, Izzy, a shadow in mourning black, has a whole cottage to look after and all the fish he can catch! Surely he can't be as miserable as he seems?

I’m familiar with Naruto since I was young and I was wondering about how you got into the sasori and Sakura ship cause for me it’s very random. What made you ship them instead of the canon ship? You’ve probably answered this before so sorry if I’m asking!

Not at all! That's a really good question. I'll put it under a Read More because 2014 fandom ptsd re the end of Naruto taught me too well.

The tl;dr for why I don't like the canon SS ship is that I thought they had nothing positive in their foundation, which was only made so much worse in the final chapters. There were plenty of opportunities for Kishimoto to show us that they had chemistry and actually cared about each other in a meaningful, non-superficial way over the course of the manga, but bizarrely he did the complete opposite in a way that felt not just careless, but downright malicious at times, especially in the final war chapters. It was honestly offensive to read, even as an anti-shipper, and I found myself feeling really bad for the people who like that ship in the end. What a shit way for their OTP to become canon.

I'm not going to get into the dirty details here because that ship fandom is fucking demented about anti sentiment, even when it's delivered in a respectful way. Frankly, I don't have the time or patience anymore to debate online about a fictional couple in a manga that ended years ago. If people like the ship, cool! I hope they have fun shipping it and making good content for it. I happen not to like it, and I'm extremely comfortable in that camp and always will be.

As for SasoSaku, go re-read the manga where they fight! It's the hottest villain/hero encounter I have EVER read. There are some very compelling takeaways from that fight:

They have diametrically opposed world views, and yet they both demonstrate a willingness (and even a desperation) to understand something about the other's point of view. And they actually accomplish that, to different degrees, in the end. Sasori lets the last attack hit him because Sakura got through to him and made him acknowledge that he had failed, that he had made a mistake, and that he was never truly alone. I think he realized in that last moment that the "life" he was living was no life at all, and that he maybe could have made different choices if Chiyo had done a better job being there for him and if he had let her. It is so staggeringly beautiful that I literally cry. When she yells at him "why is that the only way you can see the world?" and is so angry and so emotional because it feels so personal to her now, I just completely fall apart. If only he could have seen and done things differently, what kind of life could he have led? I think she mourns this in a way, and I think not a single person has ever shown him that type of empathy before now (that he was willing to listen to) and it totally destroyed him.

Sasori is the second person aside from Tsunade to have ever acknowledged Sakura's real power and capabilities--and he is a villain trying to kill her! And he's a rude, entitled, unspeakably selfish person who would rather get stabbed than not get the last word. If that's not a show of the humanity he still has even if he doesn't want to admit it, idk what is. And then he rewards her for killing him? For a dude who keeps berating her about doing pointless things their whole fight, he sure does feel okay doing something completely pointless for her in the end (not for Chiyo, btw, but for Sakura). He took her seriously in this fight, and we saw her feeling so thrilled about showing off her strength and her abilities and how she'd beaten his poison. Sakura was living in this fight, it's all over her face in the panels, and Sasori was living right alongside her as she visibly impressed him each time he thought he'd gotten her and she got right back up and kept going. They were held up as equals in this fight, not necessarily based on shinobi skill alone, but as people with goals and feelings and a violent desire to be seen in the eyes of another they consider truly worthy. I mean, how is this not art and also super fucking hot?

SasoSaku is the first real ship I ever shipped. It was my shipping awakening. I will never forget when that fight first happened in the manga, waiting each week to see what would happen next, and realizing holy shit, this is what the foundation of a real enemies to lovers romance is supposed to be? Go re-read the manga chapters and pay attention to those points I made. I hope it completely blows you away like it did to me!

So, it seems that a post on Freddit was right about some of the cars driving on the “wrong” side of the road. “Wrong” for the U.S., that is.

Which means, all things considered, some bloke is disobeying all the traffic laws somewhere in Britain— not Hurricane, Utah. Welll, there is a theory that one YouTube comment introduced in some Midnight Motorist videos, and I’m here to relay it to y’all… Kind of. I actually do have some thoughts of my own.

Paraphrasing TL;DR: The Orange/Mustard Guy is William’s Father coming home from… somewhere… and he stops by JR’s, a local bar he’s been kicked out of. A Green Dude basically tells him “My guy, you know you can’t be here. Please go”. So, Mr. Mustard Afton comes home in a rage and leaves The Gray Person alone. But his own son? Nope. Bang, bang, bang goes the locked door and thump, thump, thump goes the unseen boy’s heart as he runs for his life with some mysterious figure. Mr. Mustard Afton realizes that his son’s gone back to “that place”, vows that “he’ll be sorry when he gets home”, and ends the hidden part of that mini-game.

Now that we’ve got the basics, I’d like to add some more headcanon/speculative stuff. Yes, even more than the above. Because at least OP could back up stuff better than I can right now.

Anyway… If I combine the potential backstory we might’ve learned in Security Breach’s therapy CDs, I think I can infer even more context into this. First of all, I’m pretty sure this would take sometime after the infamous custody case Lil’ William had to deal with. His father’s going out more often and coming back way, way too ornery and trigger-tempered to deal with. A sick, tired, and mourning Lil’ William decides enough is enough. Through some miraculous feat of strength, he shatters the window and hobbled over to someone in huge, rabbit-like shoes. They flee the scene together, with Lil’ William hoping The Grey Person doesn’t take the blame for him.

Of course, he came back to that house. He’s always had that habit to return— for better or for worse.

Where did he go, though? Well, I have a guess.

There are two things that are his trademarks in this franchise that’s not his purple-colored sprite: Circus-themed animatronics and rabbits. So… What if this place was where it all started for him? What if it was a circus starring some rabbit mascot as a ringmaster? Maybe even a precursor to Frebear’s and Freddy’s, thanks to the Circus Animatronics and Freddy’s Singin’ Show being confirmed to exist.

I know the last part’s a bit out there, but it might be a bit better than William putting on some rabbit shoes and sneaking off to his mom’s grave at a nearby graveyard for solitude.

Obviously, I’m just spitballing here. Until Ruin or the movie comes out, we’re not gonna actually know anything about William’s past.

Oh and uh… Not sure about The Gray Person’s identity. Definitely has long legs, though, so it’s probably an adult. William’s Uncle who’s come to visit, maybe? William’s brother? Cousin? Huh.
