Introduction Magnetic barcode labels are a unique blend of barcode technology and magnetic materials, providing businesses with a powerful tool for asset tracking and inventory management. This article explains how magnetic barcode labels work and where they are commonly used.
How Magnetic Barcode Labels Work Magnetic barcode labels consist of a printed barcode on a magnetic backing. The barcode encodes essential information about the item, such as its identification number, description, and location. When scanned with a barcode reader, the encoded data is transmitted to a database, allowing users to access real-time information about the asset.
Key Components
Magnetic Backing: This allows the label to stick securely to metal surfaces, making it ideal for industrial environments.
Barcode: The barcode itself can be a traditional 1D or a 2D QR code, depending on the data requirements.
Scanner: A barcode scanner reads the label, enabling quick access to the item's details and history.
Common Applications of Magnetic Barcode Labels
Manufacturing: Used for tracking tools, equipment, and raw materials throughout the production process, ensuring accurate inventory management.
Warehousing: Magnetic barcode labels help organize and track stored goods, facilitating efficient retrieval and stock management.
Logistics: In shipping and receiving, these labels enable accurate tracking of packages, ensuring that the right items are delivered to the right locations.
Maintenance and Repairs: Companies use magnetic barcode labels to track equipment maintenance schedules and service histories, enhancing operational reliability.
Retail: Magnetic barcode labels help retailers manage inventory levels and track merchandise, reducing shrinkage and improving customer satisfaction.
Conclusion Magnetic barcode labels are a versatile and effective solution for various industries, enhancing asset tracking and inventory management. Their unique combination of durability, ease of use, and magnetic adhesion makes them a valuable tool for businesses aiming to improve operational efficiency and accuracy.

Imagine knowing you have only hours left in a place you once called refuge—because the bombs are coming. Imagine being told you have to flee again, this time with just a mattress and a few clothes, to find a sliver of sand near the sea where thousands of other displaced families have already pitched makeshift tents. You're only 200 meters from a declared evacuation zone, and every moment that passes feels like a deadly countdown. There is no safety, no certainty—only the urgent need to survive one more day with your children.
Tumblr media Tumblr media

Written by @rumiandroses
Hossam Al-Qazzaz, his wife Hanan, and their four young children (Bashar, Hani, Diana, and baby Habiba) have been displaced again and again. For months they have endured bombardments, lived in a fragile tent, survived on scraps, and risked their lives just to secure the resources they need in order to survive. Recently, Hossam described navigating chaos and gunfire just to reach a foreign aid center—leaving at 2 a.m., dodging bullets, watching others die for food.
Now, what little fragile stability they have is crumbling again.

Top text: To all those present in blocks 47, 106, 108, 109 in Khan Younis Governorate
Red zone label (center): Dangerous combat zone
Blue box (bottom right): The Israeli Defense Forces will operate with full force in your area of presence. The terrorist organizations, led by H*m*s, continue their terrorist activities in the civilian areas where you live! For your safety, evacuate immediately westward to Al-Mawasi.
Box with QR code (left side): Scan the QR code to view the block map
Hossam and his family are just 200 meters from the evacuation zone. Israeli forces have ordered mass evacuations in Khan Younis. With nowhere else to go, Hossam walked to the beach to scout a small patch of ground between the tents of other displaced families. He will move his wife and children there—closer to the sea, and further from any known safety.
“We’re being cornered,” Hossam wrote to us. "They’re pushing us all into a narrow strip on the coast.”
This is not just a crisis. It is a relentless and systemic stripping away of dignity, shelter, food, and hope.
Please pray for Hossam and his family. Please share. And if you’re able, please donate to help them survive another forced displacement. Your help may be the only lifeline left.
You can donate to the Al-Qazzaz family's campaign here:
We also are sponsoring a Chuffed campaign to assist the family with evacuating, and rebuilding their lives when possible:
The Al-Qazzaz family's campaign has been vetted by @gazavetters and is (#287) on their list of verified campaigns.

Bad Signs In A New RPG Rulebook
It quickly becomes clear the "What Is An RPG?" section at the front isn't intended as informative but is in fact a genuine question, complete with a number to call if you know the answer.
All the art is AI-Generated. You can tell this from subtle clues like the composition, blurry details and the fact that rather than anything to do with the game they're images of humans being shot with lasers labelled "DIE MEATBAGS DIE"
"What you need to play" is dice, paper, friends, imagination, cards, a roulette table, masks of your characters, desecrated holy objects from at least a dozen religions, a box full of nerdy snakes, a b-tier youtube celebrity and something they only refer to as "the tit-ripper 9000" .
The character creation section seems to be a guide on how to use the Pinkertons to enforce game copyright that was put in by accident.
The example play game session is a transcript of your last gaming session, word for word.
There is a section on avoiding outdated offensive stereotypes in gaming and instead using more modern offensive stereotypes that better resonate with a contemporary audience.
It has a sidebar titled "How to avoid scheduling errors" that just says ";)"
The sample starting adventure is a QR code. When you scan it it downloads Suicide Squad Kill The Justice League but with your party in the place of the main characters. It's actually really technically impressive, but you wish they'd chosen a better game.
Regardless of the genre or tone, It's using the fucking 5e D&D system again. It's not a generic system, guys! I can handle the character sheet being rigged to detonate if written on but this is where I draw the line!

Recently I ran across an article about an art center that was doing creative expression classes for people with disabilities. Not that unusual, I've encountered that and trauma-oriented art therapy before, but it was the first time I'd come across the idea since getting diagnosed with ADHD. While the class was aimed more at high-needs disabilities, it occurred to me that I could -- if I wanted -- make non-prose art about being disabled.
Outside of my work in scene design I've never been much of a visual artist because I've never felt I had the combination of "something to say" and "a meaningful way to say it", but I started to question how meaningful and complex I really had to be to just make some statements about having ADHD. I can do it in prose, after all.
So I started thinking about how you would talk, in visual language, about things like time blindness, shame stemming from undiagnosed disability, the shift in behavior that medication can induce. Ways to express my condition to people who don't experience it. I still didn't really know how to build the pieces but whenever I went to an art museum I'd think about how I might do a gallery installation. The centerpiece of my mental gallery was a pair of barcodes, one marked "Neurotypical" and one marked "Neurodivergent".
Tumblr media
[ID: An interior view of a small booklet, with pages marked 1 and 2, showing barcodes -- on the left, labeled Neurotypical, and on the right, in slightly weirder configuration, labeled Neurodivergent.]
And then I thought, why not make a zine? Nothing you're thinking of couldn't be put in zine form instead of on a gallery wall.
Tumblr media
[ID: The booklet continues to pages 3 and 4; on page 3 is a postage-style label reading AUTISM with up arrows on either side, and on page 4 is a QR code labeled ADHD. The QR code technically should work but it just dumps a block of text I wrote about having ADHD into a browser.]
I grew up with zine culture in the 90s and I always wanted to make one but much like with visual art, I never felt like I had the right kind of thing to say; either I had too much to say or too little, and anyway I wasn't confident that what I wanted to do wouldn't just come off as trite and obvious. But you can make a six-page zine out of a single sheet of paper, so I did: I made Helpful Labels For Strange Brains by idab zines, a division of Extribulum Press. (i--dab is a term for a cuneiform tablet that contains a royal communication.)
Tumblr media
[ID: The last two pages feature the same image -- a cereal bowl with a spoon in it, the spoon containing a single Adderall pill. One image, however, is captioned "Wake up. Pour yourself a cup of iced coffee. Fix a bowl of cereal. It's going to be a good day." while the other is covered in a detailed ADHD-style step-by-step process for the same actions, culminating in "It's going to be a day like that."]
I'm pretty pleased with how it came out -- the art all looks intentional and it still has that "taped this together after school" aesthetic I remember fondly from the 90s. And the confines of six pages, each only a few inches square, offers a good structure to keep things clear, simple, and meaningful.
Tumblr media
[ID: The cover of the zine, labeled "Helpful Labels For Strange Brains" in a kind of esoteric stampy font.]
Especially nice is that if you wanted to you could just hand out the flat sheet, and let folks fold it into a booklet or not -- there's instructions for folding it on the back of the zine. Additionally I have some sticker backed printer paper so I could print it such that you could literally turn the labels into real labels.
Anyway if you want it, here ya go. You can print it on a single sheet of paper and follow the instructions on the back to fold it. I thought about selling it but I do not have the spoons to do a bunch of printing and folding and shipping.

I'm actually a big fan of warning labels. Today I had a piss sample taken, and the sample jar had a big red warning label in five languages that warned you to not stick your finger into the needle in the piss jar. My initial thought was to wonder who the fuck would be stupid enough to do that, but then I reminded myself that I only think that this is obvious because the warning label has always been there, and if it wasn't, there would be an above zero chance that I'd stick my finger in the needle in the piss jar.
I think all warning labels should have, like, a QR code somewhere in the corner that'd take you to a website that explains to you in detail what would happen if you did the thing that you were just specifically told not to do. Make it a link or a QR code or something to make it discreet so it won't distract the people who don't need to know the details, but still available for the people who would like to know what would happen if you do the thing.
With the piss jar needle it's kind of obvious. Instant combo attack of needle wound in the finger and piss in the wound. This is not a place of honour. But I'm sure there are plenty of other warning labels where the real and thorough answers would be fascinating.
