[ FE4 Character Impressions 9 - I draw want I want 😎 ]
I thought #8 was the last one, but Gen 2 have a severe lack of WAVY HAIR SUPREMACY, so here were are. 💁‍♀️
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
- Poor Kurth, you read about how he’s pretty much a genius, but he doesn’t get to do anything u_u;
- Azmur sucks (ye, I said it), I refuse to draw him
- Febail’s fine but I really wanted a beautiful blond braid-bearing boy with a bow as Brigid’s son, with matching blue hair ties with Patty
- I love drawing Byron, because he’s very close to old Hector with grey hair, also because Byron is the best 😤
- when Siggy had that touching moment where he said Lahna was like a mom, I immediately shipped it ;’D (Byron x Lahna)
- no wonder everyone wanted Arvis for emperor, Azmur sucked, Kurth got hit by the plot hammer, man’s got it all: brains, power, and looks (pretty hot amirite? ❤️‍🔥 …too soon? 🤪)
- headcanon that Gen 2 Arvis has the worst eye bags
- Gen 1 Travant was a ladykiller (literally and metaphorically), just look at the smirk on his portrait 😏
- so I thought I’d hate Travant irrevocably after he killed my fav couple, took their daughter, and pretended to be her real dad… but I was wrong. I still don’t really understand how I feel about him. He can’t be forgiven, and yet… I don’t hate him 🫣 FE4 is wild, man…
- one thing I really like about Travant is how smart he is, intelligent enemies that are calculating and don’t underestimate you are the most terrifying
Travant: “WORM.”
Me: hehe, “Wyrm.” *gets impaled by Gungnir*
Look how similar these bad boys are. I swear they were swapping hair care tips in their younger days.

Propaganda for Queen:
“Literally no one talk about her and her portrait in game is reused for another character”
Propaganda for Cain:
“Very few lines. Same name as a far more popular half of Christmas Cavs.”

Oh no the time cops
This lovely red-haired gent, whose name I cannot remember off the top of my head, has been stationed in Wildwood with his time-traveling Crown Victoria to catch anyone trying to sneak modern technology back in time.
"Let's give Queen Yovia a TANK" is a popular game for time travelers, apparently. As is "let's give this random peasant girl a shitty beater car!"
Kids out joyriding won't get more than a slap on the wrist, and thankfully for Lahna and Andi, that's exactly what they are.
We're going to see a lot more of this gentleman... though perhaps not for the reasons you'd think.

Hamefura x Genshin Impact: Kingdom of Fontaine
To the King & Queen of Sorcier,
As you may know, Queen Egeria’s daughter, Princess Furina Amrita, will be crowned shortly after her eighteenth birthday as Fontaine’s monarch. I offer a formal invitation to your twin princes, Geordo & Alan Stuart to attend the celebration in Fontaine. I heard they are about the same age as Furina, and considering our past collaborations, I would like them to attend a show as well prior to Furina’s coronation. The tickets are included with this letter and I hope I can see your princes here to witness the princess’ coronation.
Signed, Iudex Neuvillette
*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
To Lahna Smith of the Magic Ministry,
Considering the collaboration of our companies in the past, and the fact that I had a nice discussion with your workers, we would like to request the Ministry’s aid.
There’s some odd happenings involving odd magical occurrences in Fontaine, specifically around the ruins of the Fontaine Research Institute and in proximity of the Fortress of Meropide. Considering our wide scope of specialties, I would like to ask for your department’s aid in discussing the phenomena. This is rather a confidential mission so I wish you only bring your best, brightest, and most trusty on this assignment. Considering your department’s expertise, it would be of great help. Let us know if you are willing to accept this offer and send us a time of when to expect you in Fontaine.
Signed, Duke Wriothesley, Administrative Officer Choiseul, & Iudex Neuvillette
To learn more about the Kingdom of Fontaine that exists northwest of Sorcier across the waters, look below. I uh, I wrote a lot...
Fontaine - a water based kingdom existing northwest of Sorcier across a large body of water. To travel between the two kingdoms, it takes a few days by boat to reach the other side.
Fontaine is known for its mechanical advancements to create impressive robots powered by magic stones. However, beyond having a thriving underwater ecosystem alongside the bustling kingdom, it’s known as the Kingdom of Justice. This title was given due to the rigorous work of the royal family and Chief Justice who oversees the trials in the kingdom. Never once was an innocent party falsely accused and never once was a guilty person allowed to walk away without repercussions. The land of which Fontaine exists is also extremely unique, not only is the water that fills Fontaine’s streams, lakes, and rivers made of pure Hydro (the same water created by water magic), but it’s also home to several unique creatures, one of which are the Melusines, a sentient, long lived species that exists and lives solely in Fontaine that have become part of the kingdom’s society.
Fontaine is also known to have one of the largest and most sophisticated prisons in the world, the Fortress of Meropide. Located deep in the waters of Fontaine it acts as a prison and exile ground for the convicted.
The Royal Family of Amrita ruled over Fontaine for generations, however an unexpected disaster threatened the kingdom and sent the queen to an early death. Her daughter, Furina, ascended the throne at a young age to fill the void her mother left behind.
*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
Queen Egeria Amrita (Deceased) - Egeria was reigned as Fontaine’s queen for many years, she was kind, cunning, gentle, and believed that everyone in Fontaine had a reason to live. She was one of the people who really made Fontaine truly become a kingdom of Justice. With her rule and the aid of Iudex Neuvillette, she made the kingdom flourish, despite its odd position in a land very unknown the anyone outside it’s borders. She possessed powerful water magic, some believed she was the reincarnation of a god, however she never liked those kinds of comparisons. She believe humanity is powerful in it’s own right and shouldn’t need to rely on the whims of a being they cannot see or fathom. She had a daughter, precious little Furina Amrita, whom she beared with a suiter no one really knew. Egeria ruled the kingdom as a solitary queen, and she never revealed who Furina’s father was. When Furina just turned six or so, Egeria perished in a horrible accident that befell the Fontaine Research Institue. It’s said that her sacrifice prevent the accident from wiping out the entirety of Fontaine, but no one knows for sure what happened. What facts were left were that, Egeria prevented a great disaster with her sacrifice, leaving her only daughter to take her place.
Princess Furina Amrita (Age: 17) - Furina was forced to ascend the throne early due to the death of her mother, Egeria Amrita. Furina processes water magic, a trait passed down through her family’s bloodline. She is haughty and arrogant, but it’s mostly a front to deal with her uncertain emotions of trying to understand her role. She doesn’t want to appear as weak in front of the people who now look at her as they did her mother. She doesn’t understand or think she has the capabilities to be like her mother, but she’ll try to keep her kingdom at peace. Thankfully, her trusty Advisor, who is also the Chief Justice, is by her side. She’s at ease with him, he can help her navigate this strange realm of running a kingdom on her own.
Monsieur Neuvillette (Age: ???) - Neuvillette, the Chief Justice as well as the Royal Advisor. Neuvillette had been in his role for quite a long time. People have accepted his oddly long life as normal. People have their theories as to what he may be, but that doesn’t change who he is. For the people of Fontaine, he is the true symbol of Justice in their kingdom. He never showed favoritism nor has his judgment changed during his long life. His judgment had never been wrong and he holds a professional and high standard and integrity not many people possess. After the death of Queen Egeria, most of the people in the royal court, as well as the citizens, voted for him to be the Royal Advisor for Furina as she ascended the throne.
Duke Wriothesley - Wriothesley, he’s known in Fontaine as the warden for the Fortress of Meropide. After murdering his cruel adoptive parents, he was sentenced to the fortress for a long time. With his abilities, skills, and sense of Justice, he rose up in the fortress and eventually became the warden of the prison with the aid of Neuvillette. Despite his past, Wriothesley is a just man who only wishes for children to have happy childhoods and that everyone who enters the fortress, and reflect on their actions and gain a new lease on life.
Clorinde - Reigning from a Marquess family, Clorinde is renowned as the best swordswoman in Fontaine. Not only does she hold her title as the best Champion Duelist, she is also designated as Princess Furina’s bodyguard. She comes across as cold, but she means well and is quite nice and warm once you get to know her. She’s childhood friends with Navia.
Navia - Another heir to a marquess family, Navia is the current head of the Spina de Rosula, an organization in Fontaine that handles organization, some civil affairs, and most notably, private investigations. Navia often works with Clorinde and Neuvillette to discuss cases that require more than just sterile procedure to crack open. She loves to bake but is also quite formidable in a fight if things come to a head.
Lyney & Lynette - Lyney and Lynette are orphan twins who live in Fontaine, they are famed magicians and often perform shows in the streets or on the stages of the main city. Lynette is known for caring and playing with the many stray cats living on the streets, most assume its due to her feline features that only got expressed in her and not in Lyney.
..
.
Focalors ??? (Age: ???) - an unknown young lady rumored to roam the Fontaine forests. No one knows anything about her, beyond the fact she looks similar to Furina. She always happens to save unfortunate souls who get lost in the forest, returning them to the city border or nearby villages. Who is this young woman?

Dimitri/Annette, legacy
Dimitri and Annette like to think less about inheritance and ‘preparing’ the next generation, and rather what they themselves can build and fortify as king and queen. Both of them have been shadowed by expectations of heritage, both via their Crests as well as family trauma. They don’t want to perpetuate it, even though they knew their families cared about them.
If we go with our headcanons that Dimitri dies in middle age, Annette becomes the beacon of a wise ruler guiding Fhaerghus into a Golden Age. Very Lahna FE4-adjacent.

There is no shortage of things to miss about home.
Erinys closes her eyes and inhales, shoulders raising and back straightening. There is no one else here to see her cry, but that doesn’t stop her from feeling ashamed for the fact.
Her posture falls with the release of that breath, eyes reopening slowly. Chin tips upward and, finally, her hand extends.
Lithe fingers come to brush the smooth curve of a bow, tracing downward. It’s a training bow, made for practice as opposed to killing, arranged in a row of identical weapons. This is silly, she chides herself, you look foolish.
Because none of these bows had been drawn against her sister -- none had dealt that final blow to the most honorable of Silesse’s Heavenly Knights -- and yet she stands before them as though they might give her some kind of reprieve from that loss when Annand herself is buried so far away.
That hand drops, falls lamely back to her side. Erinys stares, unmoving, fighting the warmth that presses the back of her eyes. She had gone to Annand’s grave plenty -- knelt in the soil before it and wept like she was a child -- with the same questions over and over. Because her sister would have known what to do when Lewyn vanished, or when Queen Lahna had passed.
Annand would have made a far better queen. A better mother, too.
( Erinys dares not consider that further, does not prod at whether or not Lewyn would have chosen her, still, had the option remained. )
Her eyes shut once more. Annand would not have thrown so much away to find him a second time.

Note
"Lewyn, wait - "
Her fingers catch on his wrist, and Erinys finds that she's suddenly self conscious. Her gaze flits away, sheepish, and her hold on him relents. "I... I had intended to give this to you a long time ago."
Not that it was even hers to give. It makes for a poor birthday present, probably -- a token of mourning as opposed to something meant to bring joy -- but it isn't exactly like she had the time to plan a better gift in advance. Erinys had, in all fairness, anticipated spending her husband's birthday without him.
Careful hands dance to her neck, unearthing a chain from beneath the collar of her dress. It is unclasped, pulled fully away from her throat, and brought to rest in the palm of her hand.
"Queen Lahna gave this to me just before she passed," emotion swells in her chest, a mourning of her own, "I'm sure you recognize it. It was never meant to be mine, but you weren't exactly there to accept it."
Erinys shakes her head, offering the pendant. It is the same sapphire as their wedding rings, the same symbol of their homeland's frost. "Happy birthday," a quiet sigh, "I am sorry that it could not have been more."
//via birthday asks, still accepting!
Words can't do his gratitude justice. Lewyn is a poet, a bard, and a musician, yet mute action is how he feels he can best convey his feelings about her gift. He hugs her. Drops whatever stupid thing his hands were busying themselves with (he doesn't remember now, but they were probably crammed into his pockets to look cool) and throws them around her midsection. Erinys is pulled in so close that her arm can't possibly be held out for this hug; it suffers the unfortunate fate of being smushed between their two bodies. But he doesn't care. In a world where nothing is promised to him anymore, this pendant means everything.
"Erinys, you damn fool," he whispers, holding her tighter still. One of those arms creeps up the length of her back, resting firm against the softness of her hair in a balled-up fist. "It's enough. Hell, it's more than enough. You're enough, babe."
The time for a bard turned to sentimental mush lasts a moment longer. He lingers against her, wanting her to know that the mere sight of his mother's pendant means so extraordinarily much to him. In a way, it's a repeat of what happened back in Silesse. Lewyn is being given something of hers from a loved one--from family--when he finally feels he's ready to play his part. Erinys, now reunited, reminds him that he will always have a duty to busy his days with, no matter where in the whole wide world he winds up in. That duty is to her. He'll always find his way back to her, even when his hairs start to gray and she's too damn old to chase after him.
Erinys will be home.
They break, after he has his moment. For another second he grips both her shoulders, but one hand leaves to take hers. Slowly, gently, he pries her fingers apart, and reveals her gift one more time. The exchange of him taking it from her and slipping it round his neck is a wordless one, a solemn reminder that he could not be more appreciative to receive this from his dearest.
It is only once it's on that he speaks again, his signature smile returning to his face, "How does it look? It's the perfect gift, ain't it? Heh, the only thing I don't like about it is how it's the kind I won't be able to top. Nothing I could ever get you even comes close to this thing, you know."
"Whenever I put it on in the morning, I'll think of you."

Writing Review - 2023
I've seen this for artists so I thought, why don't I pick a line from my favorite fanfic that I wrote for each month? Let's see...
January - Goodbye, Velthomer
The path from Velthomer to the northeastern edges of Grannvale was rough even for a merchant taking a slow pace to a village. Azelle, who was trained for battle on horseback, could handle it. On the other hand, Tailtiu was nauseous from bouncing around, being held mainly by the strong grip of her husband. Arthur was lulled asleep, his eyes closed to what was happening around them. Tailtiu turned her head upon the deafening roar of another meteor spell. It hit not even a full furlong away. She saw a few pegasi heading north. They must have been King Lewyn’s servants; maybe Lewyn was making his escape as well. It wouldn’t hurt to have the aid of the holy wind if Grannvale dared to chase them into another nation. Azelle did not turn his head backwards; he couldn’t bring himself to say goodbye to his home.
February - A Mother's Protection
Julia remembered that day when they were playing hide and seek. Julius ran so quickly that he scraped his hand across the corner of a table. He bled out and cried from the pain; despite his status as the future King, he was frailer than Julia. Yet their mother comforted Julius through the pain and helped bandage him even as the treatment hurt. “I do,” Julia said. “You were so sweet even though he bawled the entire time.” “As a healer, you should know…Not every cure is painless.” “Hmm?” “You must do what is needed,” Deirdre said. “Do it for him.” Julia stepped back, realizing that her mother knew the truth: Julius was gone. What she must do was not merely a necessity; it was mercy.
March - Observing a Legacy
A ten year old, awed by a visit from her idol, begged to join the pegasus knights in the village. That girl barely knows a world with Queen Lahna, let alone the shooting star that was King Lewyn. Soon, there will be an entire generation of children who know no one else as their ruler. That lovelorn single mother is the symbol of Silesse now, the person who stops the Empire from casting its dark shadow across the whole of their nation.
April - Under the Setting Sun (sadly still incomplete)
Sheena frowned. “At least you’re honest about it,” she said. “At least I can trust you not to backstab me. With everyone else, I have to be looking over my shoulder so they won’t take advantage. But fine. If you must distance yourself from me then do so.” She motioned for him to leave. “Go. It’s okay. You don’t need to be with me if you don’t want to anymore. You can stick to filling out your contract.”
May - Tirnanog's Mother
Shannan was older than the other children entrusted to Edain’s care: he could be left alone, for instance, and he had rudimentary skills to fight back were he ever to be separated. Key was that he was still a child. Ayra would not have wanted Shannan to be forced to grow up quickly; Edain was going to try her damndest to fulfill that wish.
June - Losing Feeling
Every choice that Quan made over the past three days was a choice that he regretted. Launching another expedition to aid his brother Sigurd was a fool’s errand – he should have realized that Travant would easily make mincemeat of the Lanzeritter in the desert. Inviting Ethlyn to come with him was a fatal mistake. Allowing her to bring their daughter with them was the worst.
July - Courage
Ivy took Diamant’s extended right hand with her left. There were no words that she could use to respond to that. If nothing else, Diamant’s face turning the same color as his hair showed that he really did feel the same way that she did. She took off her fascinator. Without exchanging a word, they understood each other. She wrapped her right arm around his back, her hand still holding onto the fascinator, and lifted herself upwards. Diamant leaned in towards her, the fingers of his right hand entwined with those of her left. Their lips met. For once, the future rulers of Brodia and Elusia cast their worries aside. For once, they let themselves have a moment to themselves – not as crown prince and crown princess, but as Diamant and Ivy.
August - A Day at the Summer Festival
Diamant lifted Ivy’s hat out of reach, foolishly smiling at her. She cursed under her breath, wishing that she was skilled enough with wind magic to use it without the aid of a tome. She could have used fire magic but not even the heinous crime of stealing her hat would push Ivy to intentionally reawaken Diamant’s childhood fear. But Elusians were famed for their wisdom and in this case Elusian wisdom overpowered Brodian might. “Prince Diamant, you will regret this.” Before Diamant could even let out a “huh,” Ivy yanked down his shawl. He nearly lost his balance and that was enough for him to lose the hat. Ivy swam out to it, a meter away or so, and taunted her prince afterwards. He shook his head. He’d have to wring out that shawl when he got back to shore, the price to pay for stealing the hat of the Crown Princess of Elusia.
September - Battle at Soulful Bridge
Marth realized where he had heard this spiel before. There was one person who had spoken the same way about his nation during the War of Shadows, who had gone so far as to ally with Gharnef in order to further his own nation’s ambitions. He found himself shaking. “Is this not the exact same thing that your brother did?!” Marth asked. “Did you not fight Michalis because of what he did? To think that you’ve gone as far as to kill Palla when she opposed you! Could you really have changed that much?”
October - New Friends (another incomplete one)
Battle was one of the places where Alcryst was most concentrated. While the two swordfighters (Lucina and Seliph) worked in harmony with each other and Alear took on some foes by herself not far from them, Alcryst started taking aim. Nearly every time, he was able to hit the revenant directly in the head or the chest. There was one time, even, when Alcryst caused a revenant to collapse just as Lucina was about to slice its head off. This led her to give a reassuring thumbs up to him.
November - The Prisoner and the Princess
For a moment, she wondered if it was too personal to sign with just her name and not “Princess Ivy” or “HH The Crown Princess of Elusia.” She decided that it wasn’t worth changing a note that would be quickly discarded. She slipped the note into the cover of the book and then gave it to a maidservant, asking that it be delivered to the prisoner. It was a bit sad that she had to deny herself the chance to see him again, but she couldn’t risk suspicion being drawn to her spending too much time with him.
December - Surprise
The parents didn’t have a gift ready for Seliph either; after all, they had not expected a surprise visit from him. Or a visit from anyone, really, since Quan and Ethlyn had gone on vacation to Spain this year. The only plan for the afternoon was a quiet meal with Oifey and a couple other longtime staff/family friends of House Chalphy. They were all joyful to have the surprise guest of the young, polite Lord Seliph with them. The lack of gifts from or for Seliph was quickly forgotten: the real gift was that the family all got to spend time together for the holidays.
I'm surprised I had enough to fill one for each month. Here's to a good 2024!

And most importantly, it is a strategy to declutter and get back to basics, to give attention to writing the necessary code, and to delve into those 1000's of pages of API documentation as little as possible. So the government takes $171k out of your pockets up front, and then offers it again as a tax break over 15 years (you will probably change homes throughout that period, paying extra stamp duty). Whilst you look forward to Towel Day to arrive, perhaps try last 12 months's poems. INDIA - In Gurugram, at 4pm, Project Bibliotherapy celebrates Towel Day at Kunzum Bookstore, Guraon (Delhi NCR). “I’ve put everybody in enough danger as it is… I’ll go this one alone.” chapter 1 — girl of the spirit forest
"“I am. Sorry, Diadora. I can’t turn my back on Eltshan. Lachesis must be pretty shook up as well. I’ve got to help her out if I can.”" chapter 2 — disturbance in agustria
“Langobalt’s military is here for us, not Silesia. The Silesians have been too kind to us. This my problem, and I can’t drag them into it. We need to move out of Zaxon Castle at once and settle this with Langobalt.” chapter 4 — dance in the skies
“Queen Lahna, this year in Silesia has been wonderful for me. You’ve been like a second mother. You see, I lost my mother when I was very young. I grew up not knowing what a mother’s affection felt like. But for the first time I felt what that feels like through you. I’m sorry to leave so suddenly. I so look forward to the day we meet again. Until then…” chapter 4 — dance in the skies
“Oifey, I hate to impose on you, but please understand my situation. I don’t want to lose Celice. He is not even two yet. But I can’t fight and take care of him. Oifey, please. I want you to take Celice and go to where it’s safe. You are the only one who I can feasibly count on to do this.” chapter 5 - doors of destiny

The Wind Mage
Short Story #1 of Fire Emblem: Genealogy of the Holy War - The Forested Land of the Lake, by Ginichiro Suzuki
Section 2
Lachesis had also fled to Silesse Castle.
While the land route between Belhalla and Silesse took an entire month to travel, the direct distance between the two was not that great. Because of that, Erinys and Lachesis were able to arrive just two days after him.
Lewyn reunited with his mother, Queen Lahna, and told her about the battle at Belhalla.
Lahna listened in complete silence with a pained look on her face.
When he was finished, she said, "Erinys told me about this as well, so I knew the gist of what happened. But hearing it again like this, I don't know what to say. It is truly a shame that such a thing happened to Lord Sigurd. He is the man who saved Silesse, yet I couldn't do anything for him. At the very least I can go to the church and pray for him and his allies, for their souls to be saved. We shall tell the people of what has happened, so they may mourn the loss of those who fought for us, and pray for them."
Soon after, all of the bells at every church in Silesse rang at the same time, and Queen Lahna prayed for the soldiers.
When she was finished, she returned to the palace, and called in Lewyn.
"Now, we must address what will happen next. What are your thoughts, Lewyn?"
"Grannvale will probably attack our country."
"I think so as well. So, when will they invade?"
"I do not know when. It could be soon, and it could be next year. They might even wait two or three years to sort out their internal affairs. All I know is that they will come here.
"Both Isaach and Augustria are already under Grannvale's control. And the royal family of Verdane is gone. All that remains is us, Leonster, and Thracia. Thracia has sided with Grannvale, so that should leave just Silesse and Leonster."
"Then when Grannvale does invade, what will you do?"
"I will fight." Lewyn said without pause.
"But our pride, the pegasus knights, were utterly defeated, and we do not have many of our wind mages left. How can we put up a fight in this state?"
"That is exactly why I will fight. When I am finished, you should declare Silesse an open city, just as you did the last time. I believe that is the only path that will save Silesse's people."
"Then in that case, you would…"
"Don't you understand, Mother? Even if you declared Silesse an open city, do you really think Grannvale would let me go free? I am the wind mage who fought together with Sigurd."
"..."
"I must fight. Only those who have hope should fight with me. And we should not fight while holed up in the castle, but in an open field. To fight from within the castle would bring harm to the local citizens. If Grannvale sees that Prince Lewyn of Silesse has fought and died, they will relax and accept the declaration that we are defenseless. This means that Silesse will likely be under Grannvale's control for a time. I think that you will suffer too, Mother. But so long as the people survive, then Silesse will one day be able to regain its sovereignty. We must make sure as many of the people survive as we possibly can. After all, that is the duty of a king, is it not?"
Lahna breathed a heavy sigh. "Lewyn, you've become a fine king."
"For you to praise me, Mother… It is probably because of Sigurd's influence after being by his side."
"Even if that is one factor..  there are people who can become a king, and those who cannot, or so the saying goes."
"I do not know how to respond to such grand and serious words. ...But if we are finished, then I would like to return to my wife's side."
"Please go.  Just keep our conversation a secret. Do not tell a single soul."
"I know. I learned from watching you what I can speak with others about, and what I cannot."
Erinys flew to Isaach and ascertained the location of the hidden village of Tirnanog, where Diarmuid was, alongside Oifey and the other children.
When he heard her report, Lewyn suggested to Lachesis that she go to Isaach. "We could bring your son here, however, Isaach is safer. Silesse will soon be invaded by Grannvale, but Isaach is already occupied. They've likely already relaxed their pursuit of survivors from Sigurd's army there. Leave Silesse, then give birth to your second child."
Lachesis followed Lewyn's advice and left Silesse.
In the fall, Erinys gave birth to a boy.
Lewyn named his son Ced, after the first wind mage to accept the blood of a god.
Near the end of winter, the Grannvalian Army's movements began to pick up.
Lewyn chose only the few Silessian soldiers who were prepared to fight and lose their lives, and formed a unit.
Erinys also wanted to join the unit, but he did not allow it.
"But Lord Lewyn, you told me never to leave your side!"
"Erinys, you never change. You always take everything so literally. Listen, I said that before because it was the safest thing for you to do then. But this time, being by my side is the most dangerous thing you could do."
"Then I must protect you from that danger…"
"Your most important duty is to raise Ced and give birth to our second child, not protect me. We have no chance at winning this next battle. When I lose, Mother will probably declare Silesse an open city. Meaning that we will surrender to Grannvale. And Grannvale is sure to accept that invitation. So you should hide with the kids in the mountains. There is a price on your head. And once they learn that I have children, there will be a price on their heads, too."
"So then you should come with us…"
"My bounty is two figures higher than yours. If I hide, those seeking the bounty are sure to search without rest until they find me. Like I said, this time, being by my side is the most dangerous thing you could do."
"..."
"In reality, I should have died during The Battle of Belhalla. But a miracle occured, and I survived. At that time, I saw Ced's face, and that we will have a second child. That alone makes me more than satisfied with my life."
"..."
"Do you know why I named our son Ced? Ced was one of the Twelve Crusaders who toppled the Loptrian Empire. Meaning he will bear the duty of defeating the Grannvalian Empire in my place. If you love me, then you will raise Ced somewhere safe, alongside our second child. That is all I wish for."
"I love you, Lord Lewyn."
"And I love you, Erinys. So go. You understand why you must, right?"
In the spring, they received the news that the Grannvalian Army had begun to gather troops at Phinora Castle.
Now that there was no chance the Grannvalian Army would suddenly cross the strait and attack Silesse Castle, Lewyn led his unit from Silesse to Lubeck.
The Grannvalian Army crossed the desert, and began their invasion.
Lewyn's unit exited Lubeck Castle, and confronted the enemy on a grassy field.
"Everyone, today, we fight not to win, but to show Grannvale how deeply we want to try and defend our motherland! That is why we will not be taking a defensive stance, but pushing onwards! Meaning we will be on the offensive! Push onwards, and attack! No matter what may happen, keep walking forward!
"Now move out!!"
"Yes, Your Majesty!!"
The Silessian soldiers cheered and started to march.
General Aida was the person leading Grannvale's Roten Ritter for this mission. She saw the Silessian Army's movements, and thought they were a trap.
They were advancing with only a fraction the number of soldiers the Grannvalian Army had.
'If we attack them straight on, we'll likely get caught in their trap.'
Aida waited to give the order to attack, and tried her hardest to determine what their trap was. But there weren't any woods nor slopes behind which any soldiers could be hiding.
During that time, the Silessian soldiers continued to advance. They were so calm it was as if they could not see Grannvale's large army...
Aida finally made her decision, and ordered her knights and soldiers to attack. The enemy had gotten so close that it was no longer safe to have the Meteor unit cast any spells.
The first wave of soldiers that tried to break into the Silessian formation was blown away.
'Him!!'
Aida remembered the single mage who was able to continue fighting all on his own. He'd caused great damage to her allies with his wind spells, then disappeared into a powerful gust of wind...
Only half of the Silessian army remained, but they still continued pressing onward.
'There was no trap. This unit is prepared to die.'
Aida suddenly felt a chill go down her spine. "Aim for the man leading their army!"
Aida turned towards the Meteor unit and shouted, "I don't care if you hit one of our own. Just kill that man!"
Lewyn continued walking. As he cast a Forseti spell, scorching hot boulders rained down from the sky.

Dithorba of FE4 is a weird case, in the original game, she has mild "evil/ugly" features & is painted in her little dialogue as a bloodthirtsty opportunist who collects human heads with her only nice quality being friendship with her male comrades. In FE5, its mentioned she has a daughter, but nothing is said about her as a person. In Heroes, Dithorba is painted as a good person with benevolent motivations & is completely beautiful.
According to the Fire Emblem Wiki
Díthorba's dialogue within the game indicates her stake in the rebellion was motivated by power and status as well as fanatic loyalty to Myos. When talking with Myos, Díthorba remarked that Sigurd will fetch a fine bounty from Grannvale. Díthorba viewed Erinys as her inferior, taunting her as weak and said that she would take Erinys' severed head as a trophy.
Despite her treacherous actions, Misha did have some love for Díthorba as a maternal figure, indicating a softer side for family. She was also well thought among Myos troops for her skill, with fellow conspirator, Cuvuli entrusting the rebellion to Díthorba upon his death.
Díthorba's personality is expanded in her appearance and dialogue in Fire Emblem Heroes, whilst still showing her ruthlessness, zealous devotion to Myos and desire for fame, it is also said that she believes Queen Lahna and Prince Lewyn are too weak to lead Silesse, whilst Myos's strong leadership would properly restore Silesse. She cares for her daughter deeply, wanting to secure a good future for her. Díthorba expresses the hopes that Misha will grow up to lead a safer life then her mother did.
Some from that it doesn’t seem like she’s romantically interested in Myos or being manipulated but it does seem like she gets a lot of sympathy and while Heroes does expand on characters, ones like Valter or Gangrel who are just assholes do keep those qualities so I don’t think we can quite count her.
She might be in more of a gray area though since she is motivated to rebel for her own reasons

Casualties of Perspective: An Analysis of Díthorba
Introduction to Díthorba
Díthorba is an enemy boss character in the fourth game of the Fire Emblem series, Genealogy of the Holy War, recently added to the mobile game Fire Emblem Heroes. She is a Heavenly Knight of Silesse, an elite pegasus knight. She is most often portrayed as something of a mustache-twirling villain, comically evil; however, the truth of her character is a much more complex one. Kaga told me so. I’m writing this essay because I got her in Heroes and I have ADHD. It’s a love story for the ages.
Context: Politics of Silesse & The Heavenly Knights
Silesse is, in general, a neutral country; during the game, it does not serve as a power, but a battlefield, suffering its own civil war rather than taking part in the larger battle. The history of Silesse is sparse, with its characteristics centering on the fact of its foundation being by Crusader Ced: as such, it is principally peaceful. The martial strength attributed to the characters from Silesse lies in their association to wind, whether that be through flight (in pegasus and falcon knights) or magic (in wind mages).
Among the pegasus knights, there are four elite warriors who are considered the best in the country. These are the Heavenly Knights: Annand, Pamela, Erinys, and Díthorba. Annand is the captain. Both Pamela and Díthorba express jealousy toward her that borders on hatred— and toward one another and Erinys, as well. The Heavenly Knights, despite being the crown jewels of a country which values peace, are thus shown to be an order constantly at one another’s throats. This may be because of the intense stress that they must have undergone in order to become as skilled as they are, or it may be because of the competitive nature of their stations. Regardless of the origin, however, this tension makes the eventual shattering of the order understandable.
During the events of Genealogy of the Holy War, the conflict in Silesse revolves around an attempted coup d’etat. The queen of the country, Lahna, is not of Silessean royal blood, having married into the royal family, and was therefore seen as not capable of holding the throne after her husband passed. Her son, Lewyn, was meant to take the throne, but his uncles, Lahna’s brothers-in-law, saw him as weak, and together they attempted to take the throne. Díthorba held these views as well, stating in her Heroes lines that she believes Lahna “invited crisis to Silesse”.
The coup was eventually settled by Sigurd’s army, and both of Lewyn’s uncles were killed, along with Díthorba and Pamela.
Motivation and Morality
In the context of the political situation in Silesse, it becomes easy to discern Díthorba’s motivations, although her morality is still gray at best. Unlike her counterpart Pamela, who fights in the name of her own lust for power, Díthorba seems to have some desire to see her country changed for the better. When speaking on her hopes in Heroes, she remarks that her two greatest wishes are to see her country thriving and her daughter happy.
Díthorba does express a desire to become the captain of the Heavenly Knights, actively competing with Annand and Pamela while dismissing Erinys as an “amateur”. She is consistently portrayed as ambitious and proud, and only seems to question herself when she is defeated and killed: unlike Pamela, who is proud to the end, Díthorba’s dying line is “What have I done?”, implying at least a measure of self-awareness. Extrapolating from this quote, it may be assumed that Díthorba genuinely did want what was best for Silesse, and it is only upon seeing her own pride disproven, her arrogance torn open and her weakness exposed, that she recognizes the reality of things. In this we see the keystone of her moral code revealed: to seek strength and success both in herself and in her country.
Ambition alone does not make a villain. In different circumstances, Díthorba may have been a great servant to a better cause. Her desire for power, though a factor in her choices, is peripheral to her actions in the civil war. Serving Myos does not actually further her in the Heavenly Knights. By shattering Silesse, she does stand a chance of becoming the new commander, but the order as an order does not exist thanks to the civil war; therefore, she cannot be acting in her own self-interest. She provides a contrast to Pamela in this respect.
Despite this, Díthorba is by no means a good person. She may be serving a cause that she believes to be right, but her methods are terrible, and she is not an honorable knight, threatening extreme violence to Erinys when confronted and failing to show her basic respect. Though from her own viewpoint she is doing the best thing for Silesse, she does not present her side of the conflict to her enemies— although, again, since the enemy she has dialogue with is Erinys, this may be due to the deep antipathy that the Heavenly Knights hold for one another. It is next to impossible to judge Díthorba’s morality from the player’s perspective. She is shown through a lens that does not allow her to be good.
Relationships, Attachments, & Misha
Díthorba has very few attachments. Her only known associates at the time of her death are the Heavenly Knights, who— as stated above— do not act as friends or even allies. This is likely why she is defined as a traitor: although she may have technically been “allied” with the Heavenly Knights, they provided no reason for her to consider them her friends. Her duty was never to the other Knights, but to Silesse, and she did attempt to fulfill it in her own way.
The only loving attachment Díthorba has is found in her daughter, Misha. She never mentions her in her battle quotes— again, this is an issue not with her character but with her framing as an enemy— but does mention her in Heroes, as referenced above. Misha, who is a playable character in the intermediary game, Thracia 776, references Díthorba not only in her quotes but in her personality. Misha expresses great affection for her mother, and resembles her in being a pegasus knight. When she is captured, it is said that “The Pegasus Knights of Silesse value honor above all,” further shining a light on not only Misha’s but Díthorba’s actions.
Furthermore, Misha is serious and proud, similar to her mother, but is presented as a hero, not a villain. Although her morality is also questionable, her cause (feeding the orphans of Silesse) is unequivocally good. Misha fights in a war she knows is wrong in order to save innocents, and when her actions lead her own soldiers to their deaths, her honor demands that she die with them. Like Díthorba, she is complex, and they seem to be very similar in many respects; the difference between them is that in Thracia 776, Misha does not have to be your enemy. The picture this retroactively paints of Díthorba is a tragic one. A person with a cause she thought to be just, fighting on the side of someone she thinks to be the best choice for her country, never given the chance to see the truth of it— Díthorba is not a villain, but a flawed hero whose heroism only exists in her own warped view of the world.
To redirect back to the relationship itself, Misha’s unquestioned love for her mother (and the same affection from Díthorba in Heroes) provides a softer facet to the broken image we receive. It can be assumed that Díthorba treated her daughter with love and kindness, and fights for her future as much as for Silesse, but we are never allowed to see any of Díthorba’s warmth. In including this detail, Sigurd’s action of killing Díthorba— thus orphaning Misha— becomes a tragedy, not a victory.
Conclusion
Díthorba will always be an incomplete personality. General ideas may be extrapolated about her, but she is a casualty of perspective, unable to be shown in her entirety simply because Sigurd’s army does not have the luxury of coming to understand her. However, enough of her is revealed that her relative honor becomes painfully apparent. In different circumstances, or in a different story, she could easily have been something more than just more meat for the Sigurd grinder.
Also, she’s a lesbian, because I say so. Thanks for reading!

YOUR CHARACTER IN FIVE QUOTES!
( repost, do not reblog. )
Tumblr media
Tell us your favorite quotes from your character. Give us an idea of who they are by five things they’ve said.
“Oifey, that war has nothing to do with this child. I don’t care where he’s from. We’ll find a way to get him home. For now I just want to keep him safe.”
While Sigurd’s willingness to shelter the prince of a nation his country is at war with can be seen as wilfully ignoring political consequences, it also demonstrates his kindness. He sees a child in need of protection first, not the prince of any enemy nation, and is fully willing to give that protection regardless of what it might mean for him.
-----
“Diadora, I can understand why you’re scared. But there’s no reason to let this ruin your whole life for you. Diadora, I vow to keep you out of harm’s way. I won’t let anyone hurt you. If we both feel the same for each other, then we’ve nothing to fear. Dear Lord, if you deem our love for each other to be a sin, I beg of you… punish me! I won’t regret it… even if it means a thousand slashes upon my heart! I only ask that you watch over my beloved Diadora… unto all eternity!”
Quite possibly his most dramatic speech in the game...as much as Sigurd might be made fun of (by me as well) for moving too fast I think that he is a person given to wild and intense bouts of emotion, whether it’s joy, sadness, or infatuation with the girl he just met. Hearing about Deirdre’s cursed blood only makes him indignant on her behalf that her whole life has to be dragged down by something she had no control over. He’s determined not to give up on her because of this, to help her escape her “cursed” fate and make her own.
As a knight he’s always been willing to put his life on the line for a just cause, even for strangers, and this is no different despite the spontaneous love confession. He really does mean to protect her with all his might, because that’s how he does everything--giving his all to things he's promised. Even if they hadn’t been infatuated with each other, he would’ve offered his protection because it’s in his power to give, and why should an innocent woman suffer for the supposed wrongness of her existence?
-----
“Yeah, I’ve been tossing the idea around myself, and you just helped me make up my mind. I’m through fighting. I’ve got to try and settle this with King Shagaal peacefully.”
This is from the convo where Lewyn is chewing him out for not thinking of the Agustrian citizens...and rightfully so 😔 It’s not that Sigurd doesn’t CARE about the citizens, it’s very much the opposite. It’s just that...he’s not the best at considering things from every angle and accounting for every aftereffect, whether it’s a direct result of his actions or not.
It’s not that he’s stubbornly fixed in his views, as we see when he immediately agrees with Lewyn’s (a stranger at this point’s) suggestions. When it’s spelled out to him what negative effect he’s having on the citizens, he’s quick to want to make things better. But again, he’s just as quick to act without thinking as he was when he first brought a foreign army into Agustria. He agrees to withdrawing (to Lewyn’s disbelief) without considering what Chagall would do to all the people who aided him if he were no longer there to protect them.
Despite the fact that it’s an ill-advised move, it does illustrate the fact that Sigurd truly isn’t one who believes might makes right, or one who is hungry for battle and war--he’s quick to jump into battle, but it’s because he believes it’s necessary. It isn’t always actually necessary, and I think Sigurd would benefit from maybe having more advisers to put the reins on him a little bit, but ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ He IS open to talking things out, it’s just...things don’t usually pan out that way.
-----
“Queen Lahna, this year in Silesia has been wonderful for me. You’ve been like a second mother. You see, I lost my mother when I was very young. I grew up not knowing what a mother’s affection felt like. But for the first time I felt what that feels like through you. I’m sorry to leave so suddenly. I so look forward to the day we meet again. Until then…”
I don’t know if this is so much a “big character establishing” quote, but I still like it :c Sigurd mentions early in the game that when their mom passed away, Ethlyn did her best to fill her shoes. He doesn’t really elaborate much more on it but here we get to see a bit more of how he feels and how he missed having a mother around, something he barely got the chance to experience and probably doesn’t even remember much if at all.
Sigurd really did develop a deep respect and appreciation for Rahna during his time in Silesse...she didn’t have to shelter them and put so much trust in him, but she still did it even when it seemed like the entirety of his own country was against him. If he’d gotten the chance to, I’m sure he would’ve visited Silesse the next chance he got with less fugitive situation and fighting involved, but ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ so much for that :’(
-----
“Knights respect honour and justice, and what you’ve done isn’t just. I’ve returned to restore Grandbell’s reputation!”
This is said in response to Reptor saying that politics is all about power which should be obvious to Sigurd as a knight. Sigurd truly believes in a knight’s duty to uphold honour and fight for what is just. Again, in his eyes, having the most power doesn’t mean you’re in the right. He considers it a knight’s duty to stand against corruption, tyranny, foul play--to obstruct those who would take advantage of their power over others.
Still, in the end, despite his conviction that he was fighting for what was right, he ended up falling to a higher power (both battle-wise and politics-wise). His dedication to a knight’s honour didn’t save him, and the ideal of justice didn’t prevent him from having his trusting nature taken advantage of. I don’t think it’s that he thinks he can’t lose while he fights for justice’s sake--he doesn’t think fighting for “good” makes him invincible. But he’s determined to fight for what’s right anyway, because that’s what a true knight stands for...even when his reward for it is being betrayed, framed, and having everything taken away from him 😔
