"And with him stood the great lords her brother had named the Usurper's dogs, cold-eyed Eddard Stark with his frozen heart, and the golden Lannisters, father and son, so rich, so powerful, so treacherous."- Dany(ACOK II).
"When she saw the Usurper's rebel host across the river they were armored all in ice, but she bathed them in dragonfire and they melted away like dew and turned the Trident into a torrent."- Dany(ASOS III).
Dany enemies associated with cold and ice.
Oh shoot, I did not remember that description of Ned!
Understandably, frozen, ice, snow...those words don't show up much for Dany, so when they do they seem suspicious. I know a lot of people read that second quote as her facing off with the Others, and there were other things that did make me think she'd go North, but when you place those quotes together, and we think of how Dany sees herself as Rhaegar, takes on his "last dragon" shtick, and Jon is a variation of Ned (a little darker, a little more of the wolf blood, but there's a lot of him in there in addition to his looks), it does begin to look like Targ v Stark foreshadowing.
Tumblr media
Funnily, the only other place I'm seeing "frozen heart" is as a description of Sansa. I gotta say, Sansa as QitN earlier, and Jon and/or Arya taking Dany out to save her/the North, I'd enjoy that! We've even talked about her being Ned's narrative heir. Also, LF's line about “the three queens" always sounded to me like he was planning to make Sansa queen and then have a Cersei, Dany, Sansa showdown which I would have loved.
He did not hold her kiss against her. "You would not believe half of what is happening in King's Landing, sweetling. Cersei stumbles from one idiocy to the next, helped along by her council of the deaf, the dim, and the blind. I always anticipated that she would beggar the realm and destroy herself, but I never expected she would do it quite so fast. It is quite vexing. I had hoped to have four or five quiet years to plant some seeds and allow some fruits to ripen, but now . . . it is a good thing that I thrive on chaos. What little peace and order the five kings left us will not long survive the three queens, I fear." "Three queens?" She did not understand. Nor did Petyr choose to explain. Instead, he smiled and said, "I have brought my sweet girl back a gift." (AFFC, Alayne II)
There's this whole thing about how Sansa forgets about her own claim, doesn't think people will fight for her etc so it made me think here too, she isn't picking up on her own political importance. Obviously, LF's plans will not work out, but until we get TWOW, I'm gonna imagine this playing out in a way that gives me joy. 🥰

Thoughts on Show Sansa?
I'll try and keep it as brief as possible, since this could last a while 😕
it's not all bad!! there's a lot of elements of show sansa that I like, and I think sophie turner was an excellent choice for her. like most characters, I definitely prefer her in the earlier seasons- and again, sophie's acting during the king's landing arc was just incredible. my issue is with the seasons afterwards.
firstly- I was SO excited for alayne stone and the vale... except it was only a thing for what, half a season??? this is where we see sansa really start to come into her own politically, and her and littlefinger have one of my favourite dynamics, so it was super disappointing.
now, onto the shitshow that was ramsay bolton. a) it was so stupid and out of character for lf to give her away, to RAMSAY BOLTON no less? b) the whole 'rape made me stronger' sentiment was just vile and unnecessary, and c) it just shows that d&d had no idea what to do with sansa.
overall, I liked sansa as queen of the north- and unlike other people, I didn't mind her hostility towards dany, since it made sense. I just wish they were less catty (but again, d&d just don't seem to get girls).
I think the main flaw of show sansa is the fact that d&d can't see strength that isn't brute force, or traditionally 'masculine'. what I love about sansa is that her best qualities are ones that everyone can have: empathy, awareness and the ability to adapt. to make her 'strong', the show basically just rendered her cold and unfeeling, which I feel like completely undermines her character.
not to forget her love for her family, which the show seems to disregard. yes, she wants to assimilate into southern culture in the beginning, because it's what she's been taught is fashionable and desirable. but sansa is northern at heart, so her returning to winterfell is one thing I do stand by from the show.
in conclusion: this ended up a lot longer than I intended, but I hope it made sense. I think she's one of the characters who's adaptation from book > show was okay! I think she just suffers from what all the female characters do- misogyny 😔 thanks so much for the ask!!!

LF says: "Always keep your foes confused. If they are never certain who you are or what you want, they cannot know what you are like to do next. Sometimes the best way to baffle them is to make moves that have no purpose, or even seem to work against you. Remember that, Sansa, when you come to play the game.”
Given her current situation with the Lord Confessor (ch13), will Sansa be playing a similar game? If this question leads to a spoiler, feel free to tease us.
Thanks!
Ciao @slipmerfoot!
Sansa has seen first hand how politics and plotting is done by one of the best (one who has for sure caused one war of the two happening in the last thirty years of Westeros — and could’ve had a hand in starting the other one as well) players of the game. Of course she has taken his methods to heart and has coupled them with her character as resilient, determined, duty-oriented, clever and merciful woman.
So yes, Sansa is playing the game and laying it thick.
She has started this by reminding herself that everyone is your enemy and everyone is your friend — has gauged each side disposition to duty and which one was the better bet to make the North stronger then she gained their love (love is a surer route to loyalty than fear) — then she has started to move in the political environment and has started to use Rhaenyra’ perception of her intentions (what she wants) to move Rhaenyra — she topping LF “make them confused” she is actively working to have them focused on the wrong goal to make them feel confident that they have her in their grasp — she is also using the “a harp can be as deadly as a dagger in the right hands” lesson as well, as she feeding the Blacks the story needed for them to be overconfident and don’t realise her game; she is doing that whilst pretending to play in their hand (like she and Arya did when LF tried to pit them against one another).
Her goal right now is making sure she gets the protection a name would give her, without the hindrance of a husband capable of terrible things and of using her for terrible things, with a side-dish of convincing Rhaenyra she has her in her grasp. If Rhaenyra and the Blacks are convinced of having figured Sansa out they won’t expect anything unusual from her.
Let’s feel free to tease you:
“Your Grace,” lord Strong begun, dragging his clubfoot on the floor, the metallic drag hissing like a snake “I have a plea to ask for before this esteemed court”
Aemond turned around, his gaze flickering on his mother’s and grandfather’s face. His mother seemed as surprised as he felt by it, as lord Strong asked for permission to come closer.
A tense moment of silence followed before his mother gave him permission “Permission granted, lord Confessor”
The man made a show of having difficulties moving to the raised pedestal under the watchful eye of the lord Hand to get a parchment to the queen holding court. The roll of parchment was closed with the seal of House Targaryen.
(…)
“The king wishes for it to be known that the Needle Rivers, commonly known under the name of lady Needle, is recognised as per his grace as trueborn and noble, to inherit her father’s lands and name as to ensure his name does not die out, as a gift for the queen consort and her beloved children, to rise their kin from bastardy to rightful lady. As of today and forever she is to be addressed as lady Needle Whent, the lands of her trueborn sister, sadly departed too early from this life, are now hers to administer as is the residence annexed.” his mother’s hands were trembling “she is to be expected to voyage to Riverrun to pledge her loyalty to the Lord Paramount of the Trident as her lord liege and to bend the knee to the Iron throne and the princess Rhaenyra of House Targaryen as its heir.”
(…)
Her eyes were cobalt black, starlit as she stepped forward. His eye followed her, unblinking as if she could turn into vapour the moment he closed it. She looked beautiful, she looked prepared, she looked determined and focused.
(…)
“I am honoured,” she added “but I am sure that in his immense wisdom the king will understand. I do not know my father’s name, my mother never spoke of him,” there was sadness for that in her voice, a lingering self doubt and hurt that made his heart tight “I cannot in good conscience accept a name, a title, lands and a lord as husband, when I would be stealing a right not my own”
(…)
“I would suppose,” he said “that this would be a good moment to expose this” he added, stepping closer to the lord Hand, the parchment was sealed with a seal Aemond did not recognise, not from that distance anyway and he felt his heart thundering in his chest as he saw her observing the scene in apparent surprise. But no, she was not surprised, her eyes had that gleam that usually they held when she was focused on her sewing. She was observing her plan fall into place. A plan he was unaware of, a plan he wasn’t included in. A plan which showed her true colours.
Had he had done wrong by having faith in her? Had he been reckless to think they were playing this game together?
Tumblr media
Hope you enjoyed the teaser! Thank you for dropping by! As always sending all my love ~G.

Jack Skellington! The Pumpkin King 🎃 Tim Burton's The Nightmare Before Christmas holds a very special place in my heart. I loved it as a 90s kid, falling completely in love by the world created by Tim Burton, Henry Selick and the amazing team of artists at Disney, it had a very big impact in my life. When it returned with a vengeance during my teen years I couldn't be happier to see so much stuff for this movie that seemed would just be a cult hit. It's my favorite musical and its world is so well built I can imagine myself walking through its dark streets and crooked houses. Throw in Danny Elfman who sings in one of my favorite band "Oingo Boingo" and you get a perfect mix. I'm currently reading its book sequel "Long Live The Pumpkin Queen" and I'm loving it 🖤 And with this we close this Spooktober series. I lost like 200 followers in the process but I have no regrets, I made somethibg I wanted to do, experimented with a different style and walk away very happy with many of these pieces ^^ Thank you to all those lf you who've stuck around and have a happy Halloween! 👻🎃💀 #halloween #jackskellington #thepumpkinking #timburton #henryselick https://www.instagram.com/p/CkYyEIPOwq8/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

14/04/24 11:19 PM | Gossip Girl Update | LF Let Her Intrusive Thoughts Win Again?!
Tumblr media
Gossip Girl here, ur one and only source into the scandalous lives of Katie’s elite.
Spotted: LF, who always let her intrusive thoughts win is the master of sarcasm and the queen of witty comebacks. This girl’s got a tongue sharper than a sword and a knack for throwing shade with no hesitation. Her sarcasm is her shield, her way of deflecting life’s harsh realities with a well-timed joke or a clever retort. But she’s also like the ultimate audience member at a comedy show, laughing at everyone’s jokes as if she’s the most loyal audience of stand-up comedy. Despite her tough exterior, she’s actually pretty chill once u get to know her. Sure, she may seem a bit intimidating at first, but underneath all that sarcasm is a girl who’s fiercely loyal and incredibly caring. She’s the kind of friend who will always have ur back, no matter what. And when she finally finds her happiness, it’s like watching a flower bloom after a long winter. She becomes all lovey-dovey and affectionate, wearing her heart on her sleeve and radiating warmth and joy to everyone around her. It’s a beautiful sight to behold, and i can’t help but wish her nothing but eternal happiness in her newfound bliss. Here’s to u, LF — the queen of sarcasm and the loyal.
And who am i? I’m Blair Waldorf’s clone aka Katie Blair that u know.
XOXO, Gossip Girl. 💋

Wanted to draw BlueHorns Ref sheet because i wanted to get him out of the way as he is probably the toughest one out of
his brothers and sisters to draw.
under his suit of clothing is a mechanical robotic like body that can be removed. his grumpy personality can also be towards GreenEye,but no matter how annoyed he is with GreenEye,GreenEye looks up to him as a big role model. his heart is exposed and is based off of the "bioshock infinite" game enemy called the "HandyMan." BlueHorn constantly breaks down with his suit so he doesn't move much.he eats and kills skrill dragons as they know him as the "one who eats the skrills and rules the sky" cannibalism runs in this family of the crimson goregutter kings and queens. BlueHorn sometimes wears 1912 clothing that passed down strangely from his greatest ancestors who are still alive till the day. he is very feared by many while in the city as also not just a king but working as a cop. his 6 powerful wings with each having hand claws at the end. his ability mostly being electricity is also strong enough to knock out almost all of earths power out while a tiny portion lf power is still on. his burnt face makes his foes even more terrified of him. he tries to cover it up in liquid paraffin.

"Most of them believe that if a woman eats rabbit while pregnant, her child will be born with long floppy ears." It's a tale which LF mentioned to Cersei. Then we have Dany who is wearing floppy ears and called Queen of Rabbits. In AGOT, Dany ate a stallion's heart while pregnant and Rhaego born malformed.🤔
That's an interesting connection!
Littlefinger is talking about appearances and credibility. Or, say false appearances and lies.
"You'd have to be a fool to want to bed Selyse Florent," said Littlefinger. "Doubtless Patchface reminded her of Stannis. And the best lies contain within them nuggets of truth, enough to give a listener pause. As it happens, this fool is utterly devoted to the girl and follows her everywhere. They even look somewhat alike. Shireen has a mottled, half-frozen face as well."
Pycelle was lost. "But that is from the greyscale that near killed her as a babe, poor thing."
"I like my tale better," said Littlefinger, "and so will the smallfolk. Most of them believe that if a woman eats rabbit while pregnant, her child will be born with long floppy ears."
They are trying to turn Stannis' letter campaign about Joffrey's parentage (true) around into a counter-accusation campaign against Shireen (lies). It’s a distraction, a move to discredit Stannis, it’s done to manipulate the people into supporting a usurper.
Doubtlessly, there’s a hint at the future Dance of Dragons in there, but I would say, GRRM is also trolling the reader a little. Who’s a villain and a hero, who looks the part, and why?
A trait acquired from an external source is rebranded as an inherent quality for Shireen. Just like the horse's heart is supposed to influence the nature of the khal's child from the outside. What is nature, what is nurture, what is fate and what is choice?
And what is true?
It's Dany who exhibits all the qualities of the prophecied Stallion, not poor little Rhaego. His own deformities are likely inherited from his Targaryen side, while his death and decomposition in-utero was due to outside influences. The heart Dany ate made no difference. Not to Rhaego and not to her. Just like rabbit doesn’t make for rabbit ears, unless they were always yours. She was always the Stallion, because her family’s choices made her that way. Daughter of death.
But her floppy ears are only a disguise.
They are a signal of local legitimacy that she can assume and shed at will. It’s not inherent.
Dany had wanted to ban the tokar when she took Meereen, but her advisors had convinced her otherwise. (...) Brown Ben Plumm, the captain of the Second Sons, had put it more succinctly. "Man wants to be the king o' the rabbits, he best wear a pair o' floppy ears." (ADWD, Daenerys I)
And most of the time, Dany considers this disguise with distaste.
"You must excuse me, ser. The petitioners will soon be at my gates. I must don my floppy ears and become their queen again. (ADWD, Daenerys I)
Become their queen again. As opposed to actually being that all the time.
“The bride is dressed in dark red veils above a tokar of white silk, fringed with baby pearls."
The queen of the rabbits must not be wed without her floppy ears. "All those pearls will make me rattle when I walk."
"The pearls symbolize fertility. The more pearls Your Worship wears, the more healthy children she will bear." (ADWD, Daenerys VI)
A fertility Dany is convinced does not exist, which she is careful to hide, careful not to question in terms of her queenship’s future and legacy. Mother of Dragons. She’ll wear the floppy ears anyway. False appearances.
The tokar was not a garment meant for horseback. Dany made a face. "As you say. Not the palanquin, though. I would suffocate behind those drapes. Have them ready a sedan chair." If she must wear her floppy ears, let all the rabbits see her. (ADWD, Daenerys VII)
Stallion imagery and rabbit ears are not compatible. Again, she feels contempt for the role she chose.
"The yellow silk." The queen of the rabbits could not be seen without her floppy ears. The yellow silk was light and cool, and it would be blistering down in the pit. The red sands will burn the soles of those about to die. "And over it, the long red veils." The veils would keep the wind from blowing sand into her mouth. And the red will hide any blood spatters. (ADWD, Daenerys IX)
The long red veils, like in her wedding tokar, like the flames that burned Mirri Maz Duur. Bride of fire.
"Khaleesi?" Irri asked. "What are you doing?"
"Taking off my floppy ears." (...)
"It was my floppy ears they cheered, not me.” (ADWD, Daenerys IX)
Dany is shedding the false appearance of the queen of Meereen, of mhysa, of the mother of people. She’ll jump into the pit to save the baby-eating dragon, not the people. She’ll fly away. She’ll embrace her dragon self in the grasslands. No more floppy ears.

Ned goes against crown and died and Sansa got captured as prisoner being 'traitors' daughter. Arya and Nym attacked joff and Sansa and Lady paid the price as Joff mentioned later. She got beaten when Robb captured Jaime and defeat Lannisters in battles. LF has abused or molesting Sansa because she looks like her mother and tool for exacting revenge from those who mock LF. Lysa tried to kill her because she thinks she is doing what Cat did in past. She has been paying for others deeds.
This is such a good point, anon. I never connected all those before! I think it’s deliberate because Sansa’s fate is tied to the larger theme of wars not benefiting of the smallfolk. They pay the price for the decisions of others:
"The common people pray for rain, healthy children, and a summer that never ends," Ser Jorah told her. "It is no matter to them if the high lords play their game of thrones, so long as they are left in peace." He gave a shrug. "They never are." (AGOT, Daenerys III)
Ned recognizes that this is what he did:
Yet in the end he blamed himself. "Fool," he cried to the darkness, "thrice-damned blind fool." Cersei Lannister's face seemed to float before him in the darkness. Her hair was full of sunlight, but there was mockery in her smile. "When you play the game of thrones, you win or you die," she whispered. Ned had played and lost, and his men had paid the price of his folly with their life's blood. (AGOT, Eddard XV)
And then this concept is directly connected to Sansa:
Varys smiled thinly. "Why, the realm, my good lord, how ever could you doubt that? I swear it by my lost manhood. I serve the realm, and the realm needs peace." He finished the last swallow of wine, and tossed the empty skin aside. "So what is your answer, Lord Eddard? Give me your word that you'll tell the queen what she wants to hear when she comes calling."
"If I did, my word would be as hollow as an empty suit of armor. My life is not so precious to me as that."
"Pity." The eunuch stood. "And your daughter's life, my lord? How precious is that?"
A chill pierced Ned's heart. "My daughter …"
"Surely you did not think I'd forgotten about your sweet innocent, my lord? The queen most certainly has not."
"No," Ned pleaded, his voice cracking. "Varys, gods have mercy, do as you like with me, but leave my daughter out of your schemes. Sansa's no more than a child."
"Rhaenys was a child too. Prince Rhaegar's daughter. A precious little thing, younger than your girls. She had a small black kitten she called Balerion, did you know? I always wondered what happened to him. Rhaenys liked to pretend he was the true Balerion, the Black Dread of old, but I imagine the Lannisters taught her the difference between a kitten and a dragon quick enough, the day they broke down her door." Varys gave a long weary sigh, the sigh of a man who carried all the sadness of the world in a sack upon his shoulders. "The High Septon once told me that as we sin, so do we suffer. If that's true, Lord Eddard, tell me … why is it always the innocents who suffer most, when you high lords play your game of thrones? Ponder it, if you would, while you wait upon the queen. And spare a thought for this as well: The next visitor who calls on you could bring you bread and cheese and the milk of the poppy for your pain … or he could bring you Sansa's head.
(AGOT, Eddard XV)
The innocent, the powerless, those are the ones who suffer, and women, even the high born, suffer in this too, and you’re right, that all throughout her story, Sansa is a victim. The Trident incident is a quick succession of other people’s choices impacting Sansa. First, she is told to get Arya to do something that the Septa had to know Arya wouldn’t want to do, and then Joffrey wont listen when she wants to turn back during their ride, and then she tries to intervene during the altercation between Joffrey and Arya, and then she is told to recount what happened and before she can finish Arya assaults her, and then, her father kills her direwolf.
The point is the injustice, and when fans try to create ways that they can read her guilt into the events, they miss that. Sansa shouldn’t be punished for other people’s wrongdoings, Lady and Mycah shouldn’t be killed. But, she is, they are, and Sansa learns this lesson, that regardless of right/wrong, she will suffer which means, when the fateful decision arises, she defies Ned because (she believed) leaving KL was another injustice in a long line of them.
She didn’t know that Ned’s true failure was using her as a pawn when he agreed to the betrothal, and taking her home was his sincere attempt to correct his mistake. This goes back to the criticism of their society, in that, with the power to dictate so much, it is the father (or brother or king’s) obligation to make a good match, to not abuse their power over women. On the larger scale, it is the King’s duty to deliver justice, for men to wage just wars. But Ned, a good man compared to just about everyone else in Westeros, failed. He looked into Lady’s eyes, saw her innocence, and killed her anyway. He tried to play the game, and the people whose lives he was responsible for died. He was entrusted with his daughter’s future, and he gave her to the lions.
Sansa calling for peace while Joffrey and Arya fight really hits me now that I think about it. Because, Arya’s instinct to protect wasn’t wrong, but it served as escalation, and now, it does seem like a mini version of Cat wanting Robb to agree to peace, and he (+the Northern Lords) demanding their justice (link). Sansa and Cat go unheeded. In Robb’s war, the smallfolk pay. At the Trident, it’s Mycah. Obviously, Arya and Robb’s choices were entirely sympathetic, but Martin clearly thinks there is a better way.
For Sansa to be the unintentional victim, even when Robb is winning, for her to be the one urging peace way back in the beginning, that’s a great setup for her to be a queen. Sansa knows the cost, she will not lightly ask it of others.
I’m really taken with all your examples anon, and how well this fits into the other critiques of their world. Thank you for sharing!

I agree with your opinions on pov struggles. Bran and Sansa had least chapters considering the starks are heart to asioaf. Heck Jaime had more chapters than bran. I think Sansa really had to have much more to do in last two books if we think about last 3 seasons so maybe she will got more povs. I don't know how she will deal with her trauma but one thing is certain that she will not end up with her abusers. I'm more curious about how will grrm handle bran arc.
[for previous ask about this: PoV struggle ]
Hello Anon,
Sometimes Martin's "claims" and his writing don't match.
For example; he insists that he tried to create a historically accurate world but fans who know what they are talking about can easily find the historical errors in his world. Sometimes a simple Google search can prove him wrong. His world is ironically filled with historical cliche myths. Or him saying that Arya was the odd bird in the family but the writing tells that Sansa is the different one with no family support. His whole Jaehaerys the Ideal King with Tax Policy failure and etc.
Long story short: He might say that Starks are the heart and centre of the story, and don't get me wrong he totally loves them and sees them as his centre characters, but without his "Starks are the heart" statement or "Bran is the protagonist" explanation these two aspects of the series could have been easily missed.
Some "simple" (!!!) reader would see Tyrion (he is everywhere), Arya (because of her high number of chapters), Dany (has her own arc and story) and Jon (for his parentage secret and Others drama) as THE protagonists. And Arya and Jon alone are not enough to support his "Starks are the heart" claim. Yes we had Ned and Cat too but they died and they were never the protagonist characters in the first place. Starks are definitely in the middle of major plots but tbh Tyrion IS THE ASOIAF. Not Bran. Not the Starks.
Btw when he says Starks are the heroes/centre he only means the "current" Starks. Not House Stark. I would say House Targaryen is his main (?) house. He builds his entire world around them and their history. At this point we should stop kidding ourselves. Martin adores his problematic weirdos. All of his side books are still about Targaryens (TWOAIF -the lack of House Stark content in this book was really insulting... they were kings for 8000 years ffs-, DUNK & EGG, FIRE AND BLOOD).
Well it's his choice ofc, if he wants to build everything around the villain house then he should do it. But a bad choice... Imagine Tolkien focusing on Melkor and his minions instead of the Children of Iluvatar. He could at least give us their Valyrian era but nah... we had to learn about Westeros through them.
You might say: "But he ended that house and look at House Stark ruling the whole Westeros in the end". And I would say: "So what?". We will never learn more about House Stark's history or FUTURE. We don't even know why "exactly" they became legendary kings in the first place. We don't know how their history shaped the current Starks... Cat and Ned (and other influencer characters they meet during their journeys) shaped our current Starklings... NOT House Stark Legacy.
Ned was raised by Jon Arryn and you see Lord Arryn in his honor and everything (Martin literally refused to give info about Ned's mother because she was irrelevant) and Cat is a Tully lady. We see "so little" House Stark influence in our Starklings. Like "our way is the old way" kind of stuff.
And please compare this how Targaryen ideals had a part in Dany's characterization/story and how we can draw parallels between her and her ancestors (thanks to side books). When I say current Starks are the centre characters but House Targaryen is the centre House, I mean this exactly.
I said that we'll probably never know about House Stark's future and I want to explain in further and it will also give my answer about how lack of Bran and Sansa chapters are going to be a problem in the end.
OK. So we don't know much about House Stark but they (some Stark characters) will end up victorious. "END UP" is the key phrase. There is no way that we'll see a lot about Bran and Sansa's reigns. After 300 years Starks are monarchs again but we still won't know more about their ruling. WHY? Because the lack of Bran and Sansa chapters in the books. With Sansa we can at least imagine her queenship thanks to her KL and Vale education. But Bran was a boy lord of WF for like... "one book" (??) and his story became very mystical and paranormal later thanks to Bloodraven (HEY! Another Targaryen... can you believe?)
And we have (?) to assume that they will become King/Queen in the "end" (I have my own theories about this but right now show is my only canon material). I doubt that Martin will give us an "after 50-100 years epilogue" for us to see Bran/Sansa's influence in the Westeros/North.
If Sansa and Bran are his final monarchs they should have been at their last corner of their journeys by now (again compare it with Dany's bad but still narrated queenship). Sansa should have been in the North long ago and Bran's mystical arc should have ended in the beginning of ADWD. Because Martin can't suddenly start focusing on them in the last TWO books without cutting his other 50+ POVs entirely.
People were SHOCKED when Bran became king because right now his story has nothing to do with being a Westeros King. Will only two books be enough to redirect his story? Sounds unlikely. Martin needs at least 3 books to put everything in order to create a well developed story but we'll only have two.
OR he should have focused on them LONG AGO to remedy this. More Sansa and Bran chapters in the previous books would had been helpful but a little too late.
And especially when I look back at Sansa's chapters I see so many unnecessary drama. Like all of her interactions with Sandor. What did they add to Sansa's story? Sandor couldn't break Sansa's spirit but in the end Sansa shamed him so all of their interactions were about Sandor... not Sansa. They shaped Sandor.. not Sansa.
Martin giving too much attention to Sandor in Arya and Sansa chapters is so annoying. I would rather read Sansa being sad and bitter about her father and Robb abandoning her tbh. It would be a better subject for a young lonely little girl instead of her being molested by some old pervert(s). Like I said... even in her limited number chapters she was misused by the author.
And Bran simply doesn't exist when you compare it with other characters. Everything starts with him but Twincest drama handled without him. He has no part in that or anything that is happening in Westeros right now. And this is our future King of Westeros.
Back to your ask... Sansa will deal with her trauma in subtext like she did(n't) with whole Unkiss thing. And hooooop she will go back to North, deal with LF, rebuild WF and her legacy---- BOOOM!!! War and Others etc. Homegirl has a lot to do. And her healing will have a very little part in her future chapters because author didn't deal with them when he should have in previous books. Instead he threw one trauma after another to crash her more. I guess she'll magically be OK and ready to become a Queen. And yes... she won't end up with any of her abusers. Does anyone still believe that sh*t?!!??!
Like I said, lack of Bran and Sansa chapters will be another part of missing House Stark history. If Starks were truly the heart then Bran STARK and Sansa STARK would had more chapters (between 30-50: Dany has 31 and Tyrion has 49).
Just saying they are the heart/centre doesn't do the job alone. If characters who are not the heart have more chapters than them, this will tell me that focus of story is on them and not on so called heart characters. And this brings me back to my first sentence: Sometimes Martin's "claims" and his writing don't match.
I repeat: Starks might be the heart and in the centre BUT the amount of focus that Martin shows for some Stark characters (Bran and Sansa) is not enough to make them surpass the characters who are not the heart.
So we are talking about an imbalance here. And this is creating a problem. Two main characters aren't getting the attention they need and therefore fandom ignores them... and these two are THE characters that will shape future of the Westeros. They are actually the most important characters but author treats them like they don't matter as much as other main characters (And I know that this was not his intention.. just a mistake in his writing plan). Sad.
Anyway, we'll see how he will deal with Sansa and Bran problem in next books. I hope he'll manage it well.
Thanks for the ask.

You know with how often people bring up Sansa going to Cersei as some ultimate betrayal of the Starks, you’d think they’d remember that Ned went to Cersei too. And it wouldn’t matter if Sansa told Cersei they were leaving because she wouldn’t have known anything about Ned discovering the incest without him literally telling her what he knew and giving her time to hatch her own plan. It’s Ned’s mercy that dooms him and it’s much more narratively satisfying than it would be if it was all Sansa’s fault than if Ned has literally no influence over his own story. Ned also puts his own men into the city watch, leaving his personal guard very small. Ned has much more influence than his 11 year old daughter.
Oh, and when Ned first tells Sansa and Arya that they’ll leaving KL, Sansa says this, “I’ll be good, you’ll see, just let me stay and I promise to be as fine and noble and courteous as the queen.” Ned literally knows that Sansa idolizes the queen and says literally not one word to her about Cersei not being trustworthy. Sansa is an 11 year old girl who’s upset about leaving a place she liked with tons of things she’d always dreamed of, so she goes to someone she thinks will let her stay. Ned never once warns her against Cersei the way her warns Arya even though he knows that she thinks the queen is perfect.
Once she had loved Prince Joffrey with all her heart, and admired and trusted his mother, the queen. They had repaid that love and trust with her father's head.
Sansa didn’t go to Cersei out of some devious need to betray her father or to see him hurt.  It was an act of rebellion - an 11-year-old child seeking the help of a trusted authority figure because she doesn’t understand what her father is doing - because as it’s been pointed out,  Ned failed to properly communicate with Sansa just truly how dangerous their situation was.   I’ve seen people argue that he did when he told Sansa that he wanted her and Arya back for their safety-  but looking back at the chapter (Sansa III) he says nothing to Sansa about his mistrust of Cersei Lannister, thus the explanation he gives is in fact INSUFFICIENT.  And I’m sure someone will counter this by saying “well, he was her parent. She should have just obeyed, explanation or no.”  And I’m sorry, but I don’t agree, and it’s because of this -
Sansa must wed Joffrey, that is clear now, we must give them no grounds to suspect our devotion.
Sansa had every right to a proper explanation given that her father betrothed her to Joffrey with the intention of using it as a cover to investigate the Lannisters for murder.  If Arya who wasn’t in the position that Sansa was as the betrothed to the future king deserved honesty, then so did Sansa.    Also, because as it’s been raised before as to why Sansa continued to trust Cersei after the Trident- it’s been pointed out before that despite everything that happened, nothing happened to Sansa and Joff’s betrothal.  From Sansa’s perspective, she was still excepted to marry into this family.  Consequentially, it is no wonder she ended up romanticising the Lannisters again, rather than face the horrible truth about who they really are.  It’s why she insists Joff is nothing like his father, that “old drunken king” even though there are several parallels between Joffrey’s behaviour at the Trident and Robert’s at the tourney feast.  Such actions don’t paint her as stupid. They reveal her as human - after all, how many of us have lied to ourselves?  Sansa isn’t alone in this.  Ned lies to himself about Robert- taking a while to truly accept that his friend has changed. Tyrion lies to himself about Shae. Both were also much older than Sansa, who was a child.
Furthermore, if Sansa going to Cersei was truly so instrumental in Ned dying then you would think the show’s decision to cut it out would have some sort of effect.  Except it doesn’t really.  Ned still goes to Cersei (who is already planning her own shit) Littlefinger still betrays Ned, Janos Slynt also betrays Ned, Ned still sends much of his guard away causing him to be more vulnerable.  It’s almost like Sansa going to Cersei had little to no impact at all, other than her becoming captive and Arya going on the run. If you want to blame her for the death of the Stark household then fine as it was just meant to be them and the girls going home,  but again I can go back to Ned and ask why the hell didn’t he appoint guards for his daughters, given how dangerous he thought KL was, to prevent such a situation.  Because if your daughter is telling you how much she admires the queen (the woman you distrust) then that may be a clue you need to keep an eye on her.  Also regarding Ned- he was actually planning on staying in Kingslanding.  He wanted the girls back in WF, but he said nothing about himself. So hypothetically let's just say the girls did get sent away, certain factors will still exist.  Robert will still die, Littlefinger will see betray him, Renly a possible ally, will still be gone.  Joffrey will still go mad at Ned declaring him a bastard, and Cersei will still arrest him for treason.  In the books, Ned falsely confesses to treason in order to protect Sansa (paralleling his decision to lying about Jons parentage in order to protect him)  However even without Sansa’s life being in jeopardy, the outcome IMO would still have been the same.  One,  Varys obviously has his own agenda and I could very easily see him persuade Ned to confess in order to prevent his son Robb from going to war-
"Robb is only a boy," Ned said, aghast.
If Ned falsely confesses to treason in order to protect Sansa who is “no more than a child”, then it is very easy to see him do the same for Robb to protect him from having to go to war, that he saw only as “a boy”.  I always found that interesting he would say that, given that this is the same man who tells his wife their three year old son “won’t be three forever”.  And yet here faced with the prospect of his other son going to war, Ned is horrified.  It’s probably all coming back to him - how he also went to war  for the first time when he was not much older than Robb. Neds chapters showcase the trauma that he suffered because of it, which furthers my belief that he would try to prevent Robb from experiencing that.   Thus Ned still “confesses”, and he still dies.  Because nothing has been done to remove the fact that Joffrey is wildly unpredictable that doesn’t listen to his counsellors (theres a reason why Tommen is regarded as more controllable) or the fact that it has been strongly implied that LF might have had some influence on Joffrey suddenly changing script-
His queen mother stood beside him in a black mourning gown slashed with crimson, a veil of black diamonds in her hair. Arya recognized the Hound, wearing a snowy white cloak over his dark grey armor, with four of the Kingsguard around him. She saw Varys the eunuch gliding among the lords in soft slippers and a patterned damask robe, and she thought the short man with the silvery cape and pointed beard might be the one who had once fought a duel for Mother.
The High Septon clutched at the king's cape, and Varys came rushing over waving his arms, and even the queen was saying something to him, but Joffrey shook his head.
You know whose behaviour isn’t described here? Littlefinger’s.  There is no description of LF acting shocked or panicked.  That’s very telling.
tldr: sansa is not to blame for her father’s death. it was various other factors that ultimately ended up dooming him. sansa went to cersei not because she wanted to “betray” her father, but because she trusted cersei. it was a horrible situation in which a child’s trust was taken advantage of in the most wretched way, and its time the fandom stop blaming sansa for it.

Most Daensas are very annoying and hypocrites ngl. I used to follow them because I thought the ship was very harmless in modern AUs but their constant claims about how sansa was their favorite character but they stanned real Sansa unlike Stansas who dont understand her, dont really love her got really irritating very quickly. For all their claims about loving the real Sansa, they always focus on her so called flows and sympathies with characters who are her abusers instead.
Tyrion: Molests Sansa, wants her eventhough she is a child
Real Sansa fans aka Daensas : aww third head of dragon, savior of world, bringer of dawn, hero of this series
Dany: wanted to take Sansa's home, threatened Jon about how she will harm Sansa for not listening to Dany multiple times, didn't wanted to give Northerners independence in show, calls Sansa's dad dog in books
Real Sansa fans aka Daensas: Why couldn't Dany and Sansa be friends in GOT??? You are anti-feminist if you don't ship a person with colonizers, who wants to take over their homeland. Anyways Dany & Sansa besties in books
Hound: Tried to rape Sansa, verbally & physically assaulted her
Real Sansa fans aka Daensas: best baby sitter for stark sisters, he will end up as Sansa's sworn shield/protector in the end, wouldn't mind Sans@n happening if Sansa is adult, we understand why people ship S@nsan, they at least have romantic story in canon unlike Jonsa (this was most shocking for me bcs they are purity police when it comes to incest and even dany×drogo, dany×Jorah etc. But apparently Sansa ending up with adult who lusted after her since she was kid, tried to rape her doesn't bother them I guess, some used to even put S@nsan on my dash with we ship them in future bs)
Real Sansa fans aka Daensas: Can't wait for Sansa to go dark in books, kill her abusers out of rage, express and channel her anger, outsmart LF and give him a brutal death, she isn't perfect sweet lady like her fan thinks she is.
Also Real Sansa fans aka Daensas: we hate show Sansa, she was so OOC compared to book Sansa, they ruined my favorite character, she was rude and disrespectful to her abusers, killed them too, Book Sansa would hate show Sansa so much. So sad most of her fans love Show Sansa who is cold hearted, ice queen
They sure love REAL Sansa a lot, don't they?
Hey anon, I giggled more than once, thank you.
Similar to Sansaerys, I couldn't care less about Daensas, beyond wondering to myself why they wouldn't pick a better female character to ship her with. That’s their prerogative though.
I think it's clear to those who aren't in denial that it's a ship that will age poorly, but at this point in time, it's mostly inoffensive when compared to other characters Sansa is paired it.
I just find it amusing that the people who tend to visibly whine about loving and understanding the real Sansa Stark, almost always ship her with Daenerys Targaryen. Like... what? That is an impressive level of cognitive dissonance.
Above all else though, I don’t understand the purpose of those posts. They only elicit heavy laughter from me. What are they looking for, a medal? An email from George R. R. Martin thanking them?
It’s funny stuff.
Post being referenced: real sansa stark please stand up
