I had a daydream that made me so happy

As I was looking at my favorite mug, “Love Is Love”

I daydreamed that you secretly supported us, but went along with Dad to keep him happy, the waters calm

I had a daydream where I told you who I am without fear that it’d end in me missing you

And our debates “on behalf of my friends” turned into friendly discussions when Dad was at work

I DIDN’T HAVE TO HIDE FROM YOU ANYMORE!

I blinked, and finished my coffee

Traced the letters on the accident they hadn’t noticed

When the joy faded my heart felt worse

Mom, I miss being honest with you, trusting you’ll be there for me

Mom, I miss when I thought you understood everything

I miss when stray remarks from family didn’t punch me in the gut

Like “the gay movement” or “~I feel like a woman today~! 🙄” or “no, we’re gonna cut the Disney+ subscription soon, to stop supporting their agenda.”

I wrote this on August 9th, and I just found it when I was about to rant in my notes.

Some truly heroic organizations were at yesterday’s event at Boston City Hall in addition to @transemergencyfund. @bagly_inc has been serving Boston-area LGBTQ+ youth since 1980. @blackandpinkma, the local chapter of national @blackandpinkorg, an incredible abolition organization led by formerly-incarcerated LGBTQIA people who are fighting for the basic needs and dignity of incarcerated LGBTQ+ people. Both these organizations work on providing housing, resources, food, and all kinds of aid to LGBTQ+ people of all ages. They are wonderful causes and worth supporting. LGBTQ+ youth: what would your ✨LGBTQ+ utopia✨ look like?

Queer youth ages 13-24 can submit your visual art, photography, poetry, short essays/stories and more NOW through Sunday, September 17 (deadline extended), and they might end up in QUEERBOOK 2024: a powerful collection of queer youth voices capturing your thoughts, feelings, and hopes during this year.

(Y'know, like a yearbook...but make it queer!)

Creators of selected pieces will be compensated for their work AND receive a free copy of the published book. Queerbook 2024 will also be sold in our shop at itgetsbetter.org and free copies will be distributed to select schools/GSA clubs throughout the U.S.!

✝️❤️🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️ We have been hosting online affirming youth groups for almost three years now and it never ceases to amaze us how resilient the young people that find us are. In the face of non-affirming Christianity they still want to believe and explore their faith. In order to find us they have to search the internet, fill out a form, and have the courage to show up by themselves to an online youth group where they don’t know anybody…just so they can worship in a safe affirming environment…ID: a tweet that says, “I am constantly amazed by queer Christian’s.
