hey trashy!!!! hope you’re well!! i just wanted to pop in to join the not okay discourse hehe! i honestly did plan to watch it out of thirst 😖 but i am low key shocked by how absolutely moving the movie actually was… i was SO captivated and every spoken word gave me goosebumps… the artistry of the film too with the french countdown but there only being 9 “parts” to danni’s narrative was so intelligent because danni doesn’t get her resolved ending… ultimately she was the one in the wrong so giving her the wrong number of parts and ending without a washing of her hands was so crazy smart to me… absolutely incredible work by quinn honestly!!!! anyway hehe just wanted to share w someone who watched also 😄
The shit is POIGNANT, right?
Very intelligent storytelling. I agree!!! I loved the way the whole thing broke down, and I am a LOVER of a director/writer with the balls to hold back the urge to tie everything up with a pretty bow. A character who engages in deplorable and essentially irredeemable behaviour doesn't, and probably shouldn't, get the redemption arc we're all so accustomed to.
I know exactly what you mean about the story's relevance. It speaks volumes of current culture. Very topical. I find it unfathomable how dishonest people can be online sometimes. It makes you question who is truly genuine, and I wish that wasn't the case.
I'm intrinsically trusting, so running into someone like Danni Sanders online? I would have totally been taken in by that. I guess that sends another important message too, doesn't it? Guarding yourself... being discerning...
The movie was certainly of more substance than I was initially expecting last year when BTS content was being released, and I honestly think that's some of the smartest and on-the-nose marketing of it all. Things aren't always what they seem. It also has all of us looking in a mirror a bit for thirsting for the character that's meant to be the quintessential thirst trap. But, I mean honestly? If Quinn didn't want the internet losing their shit over her fuckboi, she shouldn't have cast Dylan O'Brien ;)
Thanks for swinging through, anon! I like your take, and I'm in complete agreement!
