Alora was curious to know more about the outside world and had been trying to figure out if there were more survivors in her mother's family. Her nosy old neighbor knew about this secret hobby of hers, and asked her to find her sister. Rafael turns out to be the neighbor's grand nephew.

I FINALLY FINISHED DRACULA 🥳

Dracula is definitely deserving of its status as a gothic horror classic! It's a solid 8.5 or 9/10.

I will admit, as much as I adore the rambling style of these characters, it can be a bit of a slog to get through at times. I would've like them to be more concise, but other than that, Stoker is excellent at setting the atmosphere of a scene with his deliciously descriptive visual imagery.

He also has a knack for getting you to care about the characters and their relationships with each other. Whenever they share intimate moments with each other, you can't help but coo, and whenever they're in grave danger, you can't help but fear for them. When the actual horror hits, Stoker doesn't hold back in showing its terror, so once it's over, you can only gawk at what had just overcome the scene.

I'm so glad to have read it and have my heart torn apart, renewed and torn apart again. It's not a book I can exactly recommend if you're just picking back up the habit of reading, but with its unique language indicative of its time, it's certainly a fun challenge, and regardless, it will be a blast to read through.

sorry but i love whump actually. put that beast (my blorbo) into situations and then show me the aftermath. show me their love interest coming to their rescue and them starting to cry tears of relief when they realize who it is. show me them waking up confused in the hospital and starting to panic but calming down because their love interest was asleep in a hospital chair right beside them but woke up when they heard the beeping of the heart monitor change. show me their love interest taking care of them through their injuries and trauma. show me them thinking they're fine and then realizing they're really, really not. show me them going to therapy and slowly but surely healing. show me them falling (more) in love along the way 🫶

thinking abt a singer being interrupted by a sneeze during a song. hearing their voice falter and trail off as they try to hold it. wrenching away from the mic but it still picks up the echo of their sneeze. apologising briefly to their audience before resuming the song, slightly offbeat

this was playing in the tarloft when iris visited! i love how Carlos and TK always put on music when they have people over!! i love diegetic music so much; something so intimate about knowing what's on a character's playlist and how they enjoy listening to music, it brings a certain type of tangibility; to know their little habits and their taste in things!!
