Shadow Mewtwo is in raids this weekend with a chance of nabbing a shiny. Spent all week stock piling purified gems and building a team of hench as fuck Pokémon to kick its ass.
Anyone else out there raiding?
Here’s a bit of fanart I did to celebrate the occasion. A shiny Shadow Mewtwo.

May22 at 10am to May28 at 8pm, local time. These can not be accessed using Remote Raid passes. (Of course. 😒)
Five-star Shadow Raids from May 27 at 10am to May28 at 8pm, local time. Can be shiny.
The following Pokémon will be the first to appear in Shadow Raids! Gyms not under Team GO Rocket control may still host other raids. 1⭐: Shadow Machop, Poliwag, Bellsprout, and Beldum. 3⭐: Quilava, Bayleaf, Croconaw, Sneasel. 5⭐:Mewtwo. 3⭐ and 5⭐ Shadow Raid Bosses will grow enraged as you battle them, boosting their attack and defense.
You can subdue Shadow Raid Bosses using Purified Gems, a new item that can be assembled from Shadow Shards, mysterious gem pieces that may be dropped by Team GO Rocket. Gather enough shards to use Professor Willow’s newly invented Shard Refiner, and you’ll be rewarded with a Purified Gem. There are multiple ways Purified Gems can assist your battle against enraged Shadow Raid Bosses. When you use a Purified Gem during a Shadow Raid, the enraged Shadow Raid Boss’s attack and defense will be lowered temporarily. You and your fellow Trainers can use more than one Purified Gem during a Shadow Raid. If used at the same time, their effects will stack. If enough Purified Gems are used, the enraged Shadow Raid Boss will be returned to its non-enraged state.
Regular non-Shadow Raids will host: 1⭐Marill, Clefairy, Tentacool, Skrelp, Popplio. 3⭐ Magneton, Lapras, Mawile, and Empoleon. 5⭐ are Regigigas and Tapu Fini. Mega Raids are Mega Pinsir and Altaria.
From May22 at 10am to May28 at 8pm, local time, a majority of Gyms will host Shadow Raids. From 10am to 8pm on Saturday, May27, Team GO Rocket activity will spike, taking over all raids.
Wild encounters are Ekans, Golbat, Koffing, Houndour, Poochyena, Stinky, and Skorupi. Rare encounters are Hisuian Qwilfish and Scraggy.
Event bonuses are Team Rocket appearing more at Pokestops and in Balloons.
Field Research focused on defeating Team GO Rocket and catching Pokémon will be available! Trainers can earn a Mysterious Component and Stardust as rewards.
A new avatar pose will be available from the shop:
Tumblr media
The Let's GO Special Research that rewards a Master Ball will begin, and can be claimed until Jun1.
Here's the trailer too!

Honestly not a bad employee turnout on a holiday weekend for an optional team building event.* I bet Giovanni's got like a thousand "#1 Boss" mugs back in his office.
*Based on the assumption that if Giovanni were to force employees to attend his Shadow Raid, he'd force enough of them to fill all the seats.

Shadow Raids in Pokemon GO
To finish off Season 10: Rising Heroes, Pokemon GO now has Shadow Raids, where you can encounter Shadow Pokemon outside of Team Rocket pokestops and balloons. So are these raids any good? Or is it better to save your raid passes? There’s certainly a few decent raids to do. 1-star and 3-star raids There are currently three types of Shadow Raid. We have 1-star raids which include Bellsprout,…

A couple months ago now I was fortunate enough to buy a used switch lite from my friend, and even luckier to obtain a copy of Pokemon Scarlet at the local pawn shop at a very reduced price (plus a couple other things but that's not the point rn). So, we go right from the earliest generation of pokemon to the newest back to back, with possibly just as many bugs and glitches, to my gen 9 team!
Team stats and general gameplay info under the cut:
"Nila", Meowscarada, ♀, U-Turn - Play Rough - Flower Trick - Night Slash
"Quaord", Clodsire, ♂, Poison Jab - Earthquake - Liquidation - Megahorn
"Guache", Grafaiai, ♂, Slash - Knock Off - Poison Jab - U-Turn
"Stella", Luxray☆, ♀, Volt Switch - Spark - Crunch - Ice Fang
"Étoile", Pyroar☆, ♀, Flamethrower - Hyper Voice - Swift - Crunch
"Pharle", Farigiraf, ♂, Crunch - Shadow Ball - Twin Beam - Tera Blast
General Playthrough Notes:
Okay look I need to level with you all right off the bat, I don't like the vast majority of the pokemon introduced in gen 9. They feel like such first drafts to me. I normally go into these games with a team plan but this time I literally had two slots missing going in, I just could not think of what to put in there. And I already planned on using two poison-types and two normal-types! Normally I avoid doubling up on types as much as possible! After a bit I used the codes to get a bug-tera mew and a cetitan and was just thinking "I guess they'll be mainstays??"... then I immediately ran into a shiny shinx. Then a shiny litleo. They happened to slot right into the team and I've never been fortunate enough to use shinies in a playthrough (except my soulsilver randomized apocalocke but shhhhh we aren't there yet), so I put them on. But if they hadn't shown up and essentially saved my ass I would have been hard pressed to fill up a team of six (look I literally just used a mew I'm not in a hurry to use it again, at least it's been a couple years since I used luxray in a playthrough).
Anyways, despite all that, I had fun! I knew going in it wouldn't be too difficult and would have its lion's share of glitches, so I was just along for the ride. I like the friend group you form in this game! I like vibing with koraidon as an honorary team member! It's just a pleasant time.
Back to shinies for a moment, overworld shinies without any sound effects to indicate them is evil. I spent so much time staring at groups of pokemon trying to tell if one of them was off-palette. Thankfully, I never ran into any shinies other than the ones I caught.
The raids are neat, though since I don't have Nintendo Online and no frequent enough local players it isn't super interesting with just the npcs. Caught a few neat fellas though, including a steel-tera breloom and a fighting-tera azumarill.
Speaking of, when I first started playing those mewtwo raids were going on and I wanted to participate in them so bad. I barely missed my window, though from what I've heard I wouldn't have stood much of a chance anyway, haha.
I wish there was more post-game other than the raids. I've redone the tournament like half a dozen times now; I wish there was a battle frontier or something. To be fair, I haven't caught all those ruin legends yet; though the one I have caught I managed to get in the first ball, lol.
Do I have the dlc yet? No! I can't just throw around that kind of money willy-nilly. Maybe someday though.
Picnics are really cute though I wish I could pet my pokemon instead of just wash them. Also why can't I sit down on the chairs that are set up around the picnic table??? Still don't really get the sandwich hype, I might mess around with it a bit though, I want to give it a fair shot.
"Hey Nel, why haven't you talked about the Elite Four? You usually start these notes with them?" The E4 is very unremarkable, sorry. I won't bore you by being the billionth person to rag on how Geeta is objectively the worst champion. Also when I rematched all the gym leaders I didn't have to terastilize or heal my pokemon. They were a bit more impressive the first time around tbh. The gym puzzles were neat though!! Except for Tulip's. Fuck her.
Oh yeah, terastilizing is a thing. Mega evolution is still better.
I wanna hang out with my friiiieeeennnds more, both my irl friends and Nemona, Penny, and Arven. It would be so fun to do raids with them or something like that.
Cold take but the uniforms suck I wanna customize my outfit like Nemona, Penny, Arven and Team Star do
(Normally this is where I'd show a screenshot of me finishing the game, but I'm one of the few weirdos who can't use captchas and haven't found another way to transfer files from my switch to other devices. Have a picture of my cat instead; his name is Prince.)

I’m trying to reign in my excitement for the Pokemon legends Z-A game since it’s coming out next year
So INSTEAD
Tumblr media
I made a bingo prediction sheet. A large chunk of these are just things people have been speculating/hoping for, some are things I want, a few are things I do not want, and a few of them purposefully contradict each other
With some long winded, too detailed explanations for most of them under the read more :]
[These are just for fun, and purely speculation/hopes]
Mega Charizard Z: [/hj] For the love of fucking god GF I do not want to see this lizard anymore. I know you’re obsessed with him. I wish to be free.
Kalos Starters/Random Mix of Starters: I feel like even though we had a random mix in the first Legends game, it’s not a guarantee that they’ll be doing the same for this one; I think it’d be cooler to finally give the main three Megas instead, but I wouldn’t complain if it did end up being a random selection
Tera Raids of the box legendaries in SV: They were skipped over when they brought the older legendaries in the dlc; please, I would like to see my children again
[Fade to Black, SFX, Fade back in]: Since you’re giving the game an extra year and not forcing the Devs to spew out the game as fast as possible, that means we’re getting a little bit better animations, right?
…Right?
Set in the Future/Past: I’ve seen a lot of people go back and forth over this because of the crumbs we were given, so I figured I’d put both on here so I could win either way 💅💅
Megas are the next Nobles: I’m just going on a whim since this is only our second Legends game, so who actually knows what the plot points are going to be
Slightly Cleaner Art Style/Exact Same Art Style: This is another one I’m personally hoping for, I did really like the way the last one looked, but some things were a bit weird to me, like the light purple shadows on everything. When the trailer comes out I’ll be changing this card once I have my answer
AZ. In general.: I just wanna know more about him. Crumbs, even. Gimme info on that weird ass tall fucker.
New Megas: This is gonna be a free space, and immmm really hoping it is a guaranteed free space
Ultimate Weapon Plot Point: The emotions I felt coursing through my pre-teen body when the weapon fucking rose from the ground and knocked over several houses? Gimme that but multiply it.
More Lore of the War: Kind of a filler space, but also I thought it sounded funny when I typed it out
Emmet in Paris/Ingo: A lot of people immediately jumped to the conclusion that it would be Emmet becoming French for this game, but I’ve seen a few arguments[jokingly] for Ingo, so I’m covering my bases and putting both on here. I’m not getting my own hopes up, I’m going to assume neither are in the game juuust in case
New forms for the legendaries: I am a Gen 6-er who’s starving for crumbs. I never see my legendaries anywhere. I think Megas would be fuckin badass but honestly I’ll take a singular grain of anything
Xerneas and Yveltal fighting: God of Peace vs God of Destruction, fighting? Unheard of. Revolutionary story idea. I’d eat it up.
Diantha’s Ancestor: We got to see one champions ancestor, let’s see another’s :D However. They must be fashionable. This is non-negotiable.
Mega Mewtwo Z: Exact same as Charizard, I feel like if you give one a mega you’re obligated to give the other one as well, or else people will complain or question it too much. I put them in the same column because I feel confident that you can’t have one without the other
Volo: A lot of people are speculating this because he says some stuff after you fight him, and while I would definitely prefer to have a different antagonist for this game I wouldn’t really complain about it either
New Legendary/Returning Mythicals: Maybe a new one kinda like how we got Enamorous, but im mostly hoping that the mythicals come back for this game because I’m trying to have a living Dex in Pokemon Home and I have NONE of the mythicals. Like at all. I am not selling my soul to get them

Mari's Tera Raid Guide #14 - Meganium
I have a Rabsca and I have a Skeledirge. Have I said that I love Skeledirge in raids? Because I love Skeledirge in raids. You should get a Skeledirge. For the raids. Do you want a Skeledirge
Rabsca lv.100
Ability: any
Nature: Modest (/Rash)
Item: Shell Bell
Tera type: Bug
IVs: max HP, defense, special attack (speed?)
EVs: 252 defense, 252 special attack, 4 HP
Moveset:
-Bug Buzz (level up)
-Lunge (level up)
-Iron Defense (TM)
-Calm Mind (TM)
Usage:
Meganium only wipes away your stat modifications once and quite early, at 79% time left. We're going to take advantage of that!
Use no more than one or two Iron Defense to open, then keep doing Lunges to charge the tera orb while keeping Meganium's attack boosts at bay, until you get your stats wiped. Do not terastallize for now. After your stat reset, start with 3 Iron Defenses, then 6 Calm Minds. You could need to heal with a Heal Up cheer once or twice between Calm Minds. As soon as you have your +6 defense and +6 special attack, heal again if you're very low on health (~ less than 50 HP), then terastallize and use only Bug Buzz for the rest of the battle.
Quite easy except for the occasional critical hit.
TL; DR: 1-2 Iron Defense, Lunge until player stat wipe (at least 3x); 3 Iron Defense, 6 Calm Minds (heal with cheer as needed), terastallize, Bug Buzz spam.
Pros:
-common pokemon
-extra common tera type
-ability is nbd
Cons:
-lots of turns to set up
-----
Skeledirge lv.100
Ability: Unaware (hidden)
Nature: Modest (/Rash/Quiet)
Item: Shell Bell
Tera type: Ghost
IVs: max HP, defense, special attack
EVs: 252 defense, 252 special attack, 4 HP (probably also viable with 252 HP/252 sp.atk./4HP)
Moveset:
-Torch Song (level up)
-Shadow Ball (level up)
-(Slack Off (egg move))
-(Hex (level up))
Usage:
GUYS I love this reptile. It's a bit harder to obtain if you're playing solo and without NSO, but iirc you should get a copy of each paldean starter with their hidden ability with Pokemon Home, so you can breed that one. Unaware 'dirge is just a beast in high level raids in general, I keep a fire tera one always ready. Ghost tera Skeledirge was also the only non-legendary pokemon to be confirmed able to solo the mewtwo raid! How cool is that!
Ahem, anyway. We don't have many defensive options on this one, because we're letting Unaware do most of the work. But, since it's an ability, it gets nullified on the turn in which our stat modifictions get wiped (if you haven't read above: once, at 79% time left). To avoid dying, we have to make it so Meganium reaches that point with no attack boosts, and to do that... we wait.
DO NOT MOVE UNTIL YOU GET YOUR STATS RESET AND YOUR ABILITY NULLIFIED. "Do not move" means NO ATTACKS and NO CHEERS.
I know it seems counterintuitive to just waste a whole fifth of the time bar, but it works. Once this phase is over, you're safe to go. Use 6 Torch Songs to max out your special attack, then terastallize (not as soon as your orb is charged, wait after all 6 the Torch Songs. Don't wanna lose the resistance to Seed Bomb before you're done setting up) and simply use Shadow Ball for the rest of your life.
I only included Slack Off for the emergencies (2 or more critical hits while you're setting up) and Hex for if one of your ally NPCs happened to apply a status condition to Meganium (poison, paralysis etc). In that case you can use Hex to deal more damage than Shadow Ball would do, but it's not so necessary. Meganium goes down comfortably in 7-9 Shadow Balls, plenty of time left.
TL;DR: wait until your stats get wiped, then 6x Torch Song, then terastallize, then Shadow Ball spam.
Pros:
-so easy T-T
-this is probably the dumbest strategy I've posted since I started
-very useful pokemon you should be using on raids in general
-an Unaware Fuecoco is available for free with Pokemon Home (don't remember the details but they're not hard to look up)
Cons:
-tera type must be changed

Accidentally attended my first in-person Pokemon Go event today.
>was getting stoned and eating Taco Bell in the back of the Walmart parking lot with my partner (a typical suburban easter tradition)
>noticed a local shadow Mewtwo raid and as soon as that boss became active at least 5 cars pulled in around us
>this guy in a metal battle vest on a bike with a Bluetooth speaker blasting “Bastards of the Young” by the Replacements starts talking to the cars around us hyping everyone up
>we take down the boss in 30 seconds and immediately all the cars and battle vest guy take off
Happy Easter, it’s been fucking weird

Pokemon Violet & Scarlet 7-Star Mewtwo Raid Guide
I now have Mewtwo in Pokemon Violet & Scarlet, so here is a guide for what I learned when doing the raids. The rest goes under the cut to save space.
You need four players using Mew. Mew gets a boost when it first comes onto the field, and I haven't found anything else that has staying power. The 7-Star Mewtwo raids really seem to be set up on the assumption that you'll be using Mew. So use Mew.
EV Mew for defense and special defense first of all, with a bit in HP and Attack. Speed's pretty much a drop stat. It's not that you can't outspeed Mewtwo with enough EVs; it's that this is a raid, not a match where you can one-shot the opposing pokemon. There really just isn't enough value in being faster to justify taking EVs away from anything else.
Have a nature that boost Attack or Defense. Note that while Mewtwo is a special attacker, it has a move that does damage on the physical side, and that's the one that it'll use the most. That move is Psystrike, and Mewtwo is getting a boost to it from being the Psychic tera type.
Mewtwo knows Calm Mind, Psystrike, Ice Beam, and Aura Sphere. Also, because Mewtwo is a Cheating Bastard, it also knows Rest and has a chesto berry. We'll get to that.
I think it's because the shields are up - oh, right, Mewtwo puts the shields up at the start of the battle, right after giving itself a starting Calm Mind boost - you can't use status moves against Mewtwo directly.
Okay, so what moves should the Mews have?
Well, between them, the Mews should have:
light screen
bug buzz or x-scissor (if tera type is bug) or shadow claw (if tera type is ghost)
leech life (regardless of tera type)
life dew
electric terrain or misty terrain
mudslap
A boosting move like bulk up or swords dance
Light screen, life dew, and electric/misty terrain only need to be had by one mew, although it doesn't need to be the same mew. You can get away with just having one mew know mudslap. Attacking mews should have a boosting move and attacking moves of the ghost or bug type. And PP max them! Mewtwo is so flipping bulky that it'll take a LOT of attacks to take it down.
When the raid starts, the team should set up light screen, and the player responsible for mudslap should hit Mewtwo about three times. Mewtwo will clear the accuracy drops eventually, at which point it should be hit another three times. Yes, aura sphere will always hit - unless you're tera type ghost! - but that is seriously Mewtwo's least powerful move. And bug type pokemon resist fighting type attacks. (Aura sphere is why dark teras aren't advised.)
Once you can Terastallize - and you're relatively healthy - do so, boost up, and focus on breaking Mewtwo's shields. Now, right before the shields go down, the player responsible for electric/misty terrain needs to set it up, pay very close attention to turns, and keep it up for the rest of the game! As long as electric/misty terrain is up, Mewtwo can't heal up with rest.
Then it's just a matter of taking out the rest of Mewtwo's health.
I used a scope lense for my item, but I could see stuff like bright powder having value. Just don't use berries! Mewtwo's ability is Unnerve, so you won't be able to use the berry.
Updated: I thought reflect was needed to halve the damage of psystrike, but light screen still does that, even though psystrike deals physical damage. Also, misty terrain is interchangeable with electric terrain for the purpose of these raids, and while bug buzz is slightly more powerful than x-scissor, the latter will work if you can't manage the former.

What do you think of the new Pokemon GO Shadow Raids?
They're still milking Mewtwo. Even after over 20 years.
I mean he's popular so why wouldn't they lol
I have to resist the urge because the only reason I'd get Go is to catch mewtwo lol but there's no way I could start it and grind that fast to be ready for those raids
