Trying the Knorr Korean Ramen Spicy Jjajanmyeon Veg Meal for ₹60

I added a fried egg on top 🍳

Quantity was 100gm, pretty decent

Noodles were thick and chewy, loved the texture

Vegetable broth smelled good

Spice level 3.5/5 (gave me a runny nose, might blame my low capsaicin tolerant 🍑)

Authenticity 2/5 (didn't expect much anyway cuz they spelled 짜장면 wrong). Also, why are they trying to write 짜장면 on the seasoning packet? 면 is the noodles.

Overall rating 6/10

Will try Buldak next 🙂

Ramen Review #1: Shin Ramen Noodle Soup

The classic, the OG, the one and only.

Noodle texture: 8/10. I like curly noodles and these have a nice bounce to them when cooked properly.

Flavor: 10/10. Extra flavorful and has a good kick to it to boot.

Notes: Nice and spicy. The best ramen to go with imo if you like add-ons. I like making mine with tomatoes, eggs, some spinach, and maybe some spam.

Recommended tips:

If you're feeling lazy, just add a soft-boiled egg. Just drop it in while the ramen is 2-3 minutes away from being done!

Put the seasonings packet in first, then add your noodles to boil. Boiling your noodles in broth instead of plain ol' water gives the flavors more time to soak in.

Don't boil with too much water, or else the flavor of the broth gets diluted.

Don't cook the noodles for too long! 5 minutes should be enough. Otherwise, the noodles lose their chewiness and become quite mushy.

You can also make a brothless version of these by draining water after cooking and then adding your seasonings packet, and mixing it all together in your pot. There are a better brothless noodles out there, though.

I'm a fan!

For a few years now, ramen (Japanese noodle soup) has taken over Barcelona (Catalonia's capital city). It's a very good soup, I have liked it ever since I first tried it, precisely because it reminded me of our escudella (Catalan noodle soup that can go with different kinds of meat, vegetables, and chickpeas).

Now, the chef Jordi Vilà has created the first escudella to take away, a "street escudella". The chef says he will still cook it the traditional way that our mothers and grandmothers have always done, but with a modern take-away format, served in a biodegradable pot. It's sold in his shop Va de Cuina (carrer Comte Borrell, 54, Barcelona).

The broth brews for more than 15 hours, with chicken, pork, lard (all meat used is ecological), cabbage, chickpeas, turnip, parsnip, carrot, potato, onion, and —of course!— pilota (a delicious kind of meatball made of mixed minced meat and parsley). An individual ration (400 ml) costs 7.73€, and a big pot of 700 ml costs 12.80€, not bad at all for Barcelona prices.

Take away is still very new in our country outside of pizza and roasted chicken, I don't know how it will go with soup, but I hope it works because I am a huge fan of escudella and it will be very comfortable to be able to buy it already cooked every so often 😁

It is around the time of the food holiday here in the States, so we are going to be talking food anime for the next few days.

Ramen Daisuki Koizumi-san or Ms. Koizumi Loves Ramen Noodles is a food based anime about a girl who likes to eat ramen. I actually own the manga for this series, and I enjoyed learning about all the different kinds of ramen Koizumi tries.

Artificial Roasted Beef Flavor Instant Noodles

Spiciness level: 🌶️ 1/3 - Mild

Comment: your usual instant noodles base with a good spice mix packet. You can taste the anise, cinnamon, and shallots and they go very well with the dehydrated veggies mix.

A solid choice in a slightly bigger than usual portion (100g/ 3.53oz worth of noodles).
